While merging onto i95 north my car shut completely off in the middle of moving traffic. I didn't even realize it was off until my little girl asked me to turn the radio back and my speed begin to decrease. It's very difficult to steer such a huge tank like my lesabre when the power steering gives. It cranks right up after shutting off as if nothing is even wrong, but this has happened always in stop and go traffic. It bothers me because my car is all i have and it's the only transportation that i have for traveling with my little girl.

The contact owns a 1994 buick lesabre. While driving approximately 40 mph, the contact heard a loud banging noise. The vehicle veered to the left and drove over a median. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the contact's house. The engine subframe motor mounts fractured and the engine fell to the ground. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repair by the contact. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

I am a mechanic and work on cars. I have noticed that the gm cars of the early to mid 90's like the buick le sabre class are have a problem with the heater enclosure in the engine compartment.the plastic enclosures are cracking and pieces of it are falling off, and if you touch the plastic, is will crumble apart.i fee that this is a serious health hazard, as this will allow the fumes from the engine like exhaust,gas and oil to enter the passenger compartment. Then the occupants will be breathing the fumes.i feel that gm needs to do something about this.

Had taken vehicle to mechanic for a check up. Was informed that power steering malfunctioned. Coolant pump was noisy, dealer replaced.power steering rack and pinion was leaking, dealer replaced.

While driving at any speed consumer noticed smoke coming from the front ofvehicle, and determined that the problem was within the cooling system.when the vehicle is cold there is steam coming from the front of the vehicle, and there is an odor invehicle.also, throttle body seal may bnot be sufficiently compressed to prevent coolint from leaking.

Wife stranded when car overheated.upon inspection of engine i found that the plastic fitting in the intake manifold had broken off letting all coolant run out.we have been loosing coolant for some time.(a year and a half ago i replacedpump, thermostat and serpentine belt while traveling, but always had a loss of coolant that i could not find.when i called to get a new fitting, the attendant told me what the problem was before i could tell him.he said this happens a lot and that the replacement part is now made out of metal.i have no idea how much damage that this has caused my engine.you can't even see the fitting without a mirror.what a lousy design to use a plastic fitting!it has caused a lot of problems for us.

Buyers guide , 1998, addressed th backfiring problem but, gm has never sent a notice to me to inform me of the corrective action that is preformed by the dealers or gm. While driving at 40 mph smoke started coming into the vents, andconsumer was able to drive to a gas station.someone put water on the fire and the fire went out.alternator overheated due to bad bearings and did not stop smoking until battery was disconnected.

The problem is that the car will die while driving and i have to coast over to the shoulder of the road and stop. The car will not restart and i have to wait about5 to 10 minutes before it will restart. This has happened 3 times (twice during the week of 3/13/00). I brought the car into the dealer but they were not able to find the problem. I am still driving the car but i feel it is a very unsafe situation as a very bad accident can happen when the car stalls out at highway speeds.

While driving on an urban highway, my wife noted the strong smell of gasoline in the car.she was the only occupant at the time.she thought the smell might be coming from a source external to the car so she shut the air vent and started the air conditioner.she started to feel faint and nauseas so she looked for the nearest exit to safely get off the highway.the odor of gasoline at this point was causing blurred vision and difficulty with her motor controls.she stopped on a side street and immediately exited the car to get some fresh air.she was helped by several bystanders who ensured that she was a safe distance from the car as the gasoline odor was extremely strong.she declined an ambulance but in retrospect should have accepted as she had health problems for the next 12 hours.her husband, writing this report, arrived at the scene within one half hour.what i found was the hood up and just a faint smell of gasoline.after helping my wife and getting her comfortable, i went back to the buick lesabre to see if the problem was obvious.seeing nothing, i attempted to start the car with the hood up.before the car started,a spray of gasoline was observed under the hood and i immediately abandoned any further attempts to start the vehicle.after the gasoline vapors dissipated, i inspected the engine for fuel line leaks.directly above the engine exhaust manifold, i could see leakage coming from the gasoline return line.there was some type of failure of the line which allowed gasoline to spray into the engine compartment.the car was repaired by the dealership identified on this form.they have the part as i asked them to try and determine why the line failed.the consequences of this failure could have been significant.i still cannot believe that the car didn't catch on fire!any further information on this failure, you can contact me at my stated phone numbers.as an aside, the car had just received (one month earlier) an engine tune up

Electric door locks on my 1994 lesabre will not unlock the doors. Took it to the dealer and as soon as i started to describe the problem he laughed and said it would cost $180 per door to fix, and that he had done many of them. My sister and a co-worker also have lesabres and they both have had the exact same problem. Buick has apparently issued a technical service bulletin on this problem but refuses to fix the problem. *nlm

I was cleaning my 1994 buick lesabre when i noticed a hole in the floor around the rear seatbelt. I'm very worried about this. Will the person sitting in the back seat get hurt or killed if the seatbelt doesn't hold in the event of a accident. Please check into this. I know this is a older veh,but its all i have.i thought that gm would of fixed this by now,or is mine the only one that is rusted? i really do not think that it is the only one.

Seatbelt ondriver's side is fraying, possibly due to a guide that holdswebbing of seatbelt, causing loss of protection.

While merging onto i95 north my car shut completely off in the middle of moving traffic. I didn't even realize it was off until my little girl asked me to turn the radio back and my speed begin to decrease. It's very difficult to steer such a huge tank like my lesabre when the power steering gives. It cranks right up after shutting off as if nothing is even wrong, but this has happened always in stop and go traffic. It bothers me because my car is all i have and it's the only transportation that i have for traveling with my little girl.

This was due to leakage of the power steering fluid from the coolant unit which could causevehicle to become very difficult to steer.vehicle was taken todealership and repaired at owner's expense. The welding of cooling unit, connections to the controlling hose to power steering and rusting of the unit caused leaking possible.

The consumer has been experiencing problems with steering/tire rod end. When turning wheel it makes a loud noise.in addition, during the steering process, the wheel stops turning.the manufactuer has been contacted.

Will the person sitting in the back seat get hurt or killed if the seatbelt doesn't hold in the event of a accident. Please check into this. Front bumper came off in accident.

Would try to release the power lock on the passenger's side & it would fail to unlock. Sometimes use of key would not release lock. Can not be released from the inside without help from outside. Taking vehicle to dealer to check.

I would just like to know if any other lesabre owners are having these automatic lock failures.we had the first one fixed at our expense and it was very costly.we have not had the last two repaired because it would be cost prohibitive.

Took vehicle for service. A private mechanic noticed left rear control arm bolts broke. Bolts had backed out & were corroded. Spring had to be removed to repair control arm bolt.

While traveling at 70 mph vehicle experienced a loud thumping noise which caused rightfront end to jump up off the road. General notified and tire replacement was done at consumer cost. The tire tread was thrown back of the vehicle on to the highway.there was a drag from the right front tire.the replacement general distributor tire also had the tread separated.

This is the second firestone fr410 tire we had that has had a tread separation within 4 months. I had to pay pro-rated on the first tire and i had to buy a new tire because we were on a return trip from ohio when the second tire blew. In cold weather car won't start checked the lights when i turn the car on it reads, volt and temp obviously battery problems. I got a new battery when i got the car... I got a jump from random person next to my job and car started right up in like 2 minutes and i went home.

While driving engine light will come on, and eventually engine will cut off and lose all power, possibly due to electrical defect. Dealer cannot determine cause because vehicle always restarts. The engine light comes on and the vehicle still cuts off.the dealer had tried to fix it threetimes but the problem was not solved.

Buick lasabre dies on highway while driving. Looses all power causing the driver to have to try to get off the highway while in heavy traffic while under no power. No brakes, power steering . Happens about 8 to 12 times a day. I drive 47 miles to work. Almost got rear ended 8 times, had to make unsafe turns to keep from having a dead car in the middle of the road to get totaled. Replaced coil packs per dealership recommendation. Still dies. Not even the dealership can diagnose the issue. Seems all mechanics want to pick a part to replace at random to see if it fixes the issue. There is no accountability here. Alot of elderly people drive these vehicles and they can't negotiate the car when this happens. When this begins to happen the car suddenly accelerates then sputters and dies. When this starts, if you keep patting the accelerator it sometimes helps to keep the engine running but not always.

My 1994 buick lesabre has a runaway accelerator problem, during a slow down or braking condition in gear at random times the engine accelerates the car forward, you must stand on the brakes with high force to bring the car under control and then kill the ignition to avoid an accident. This condition has occurred at cross walks with people crossing, and approaching stop lights, pulling into gas stations ect. Repair shops including buick dealers said they could not duplicate the problem and had no idea what it was. I have eliminated the foot accelerator and the cruise control as the problem. I went online to a troubleshooting site and talked to a buick specific tech who has seen this problem many times before and said the engine control module (ecm) failure was the problem part, and that a diagnostic scan would help in identifying the problem, however after several scans and drive tests the problem was never duplicated or identified. The problem is repeatable at least once a day. I have stopped driving the car because it is unsafe. This problem needs to be identified as a safety issue. Because to date i have not been able find any recalls or dealers willing to acknowledge or discuss this problem.

Wheels cap: cover:hub lock wrench is made of plastic, the plastic goes into the wheel, it is suppose to hold the rims on, but if it strips. Cannot get the wheel cover off, it has to be cut off in order to removed.

While driving vehicle at 50 mph the driver's side front wheel lugs: nuts: bolts sheared off. Cause of problem unknown.

While driving the left front tire came off damaging the left front axle and left front fender, the driver stated that the front tires had been replaced about 2 months ago, possible lugs, nuts, bolt failure (ohio traffic crash report).nlm

While drving, front wheel began to wobble, vehicle was towed into dealership and was advised by mechanic that broken wheel studs had caused the breakdown,5 lugnut studs and 3 lug nuts had to be replaced.

Front wheel lug nuts too short, causing two lugs to break, and the others to loosen, causing front end to vibrate while driving.
