Passenger sensing system appears to be too sensitive.owners manual states that the system is designed to detect adult sized passengers.however a small purse (6lbs) is sufficient to activate the airbag light on the console and ring the chimes alerting the driver that the front passenger is not belted in.tested with 8 y/o daughter (43lbs) with same result.dealer has examinedthe system and found it to be performing as designed.buick customer service returned my phone call and stated that based on the malfunction and the verbiage in bulletin 12-09-41-002a this malfunction is okay and no further service is required.important to note that my 2007 yukon xl denali requires a weight of approximately 40 lbs to activate the seatbelt indicator and about 80lbs to turn on the airbag.buick needs to be recalibrated.

Tamara recall-the car only has 67000 miles on it, and for some reason it is using oil.there is exhaust fumes/smoke coming out of the tail pipe.there have been occasions where it has not started.i took it to the dealership where i purchased it brand new off of the showroom floor in 2014, and they did a diagnostic on it; and inform me that they can find nothing wrong.why all of the sudden is the oil pressure down so low and my warranty will be up at 70000 miles.i asked the technician to examine the drivetrain and other components covered under the warranty; but they refused.also the screen on the satellite radio and clock fades out and comes back on.the dealership failed to provide a response to this as well.i need answers to determine the cause of the engine and electrical problems, but if the dealership where i purchased the vehicle cannot answer the questions; what is left to do to get it repaired properly?the car is stationery when the screen fades out and also the inside lights go out periodically as well as the headlights.what can be done?we need assistance.gm needs to know that this dealership is providing less than satisfactory service.
Complete blackout of monitor (navigation screen) including rear view camera while while driving on city streets and highways and happened once during startup of vehicle.sometimes before blackout vertical lines appear.estimated time of blackout has lasted more than one minute and i have had to pull over until it appears.i have had passengers in the vehicle who have witnessed this occurrence.i have taken my vehicle maybe 2 or 3 times to the buick dealership, the last time they replaced the full monitor, as they could not find what was causing the problem.the problem is still occurring and even worse because its happening more frequently.i am going to the buick dealership tomorrow about this and a new problem with the seats not heating up, which was never a problem until the screen blanked out one night.i'm suspicious if this is related to whatever is causing the problem with the monitor.there may be some wiring/computer/technical glitch which need to be investigated.i hope the nhsa will investigate this issue, as i consider it a safety hazard.a response back would be appreciated.
The contact owns a 2013 buick lacrosse. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would stall as the battery warning light would flash on the instrument panel. Due to the failures, the contact had the vehicle towed to ross downing buick gmc (1301 s morrison blvd, hammond, la 70403) and rainbow northshore buick gmc, llc (2925 n hwy 190, covington, la 70433). Both dealers informed her that there were no faults with the vehicle however, the battery was replaced by both dealers. Despite the battery replacement, the failure persisted. The contact called an independent mechanic to her home, who informed her that there was burnt wiring connected to the battery which he related to the failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 13v173000 (electrical system) however, the vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Three lane interstate highway with traffic moving at 65 mph and engine stalls out with no power. Make it to shoulder of road and after about a half hour, car starts with engine check light on and i continue to destination. I have service repair specialist check source of problem and it is failure of "cam shaft sensor". Upon returning home 285 miles away, again had problem diagnosed with same results..."cam shaft sensor" as engine check light was on again and car had no power. On 9/1/2015 call ellis automotive inc. And told them about problem, part needed and asked for a service date for repair. The service date was set for 9/11/2015 at 9:00 a.m. Traveled to dealer (51 miles one way) and they diagnosed the problem as "cam shaft sensor", but didn't have part available. When i asked why inexpensive part was not available after my prior communications i was told they only respond to their own diagnoses. On 9/14/2015 at 3:50 pm , i get the message that part was in but that they close at 4:pm. I call at 9:00 am on 9/15/2015 and was told that they have service date for 9/30/2015 and will meet me halfway with "loaner car" and take my car for repair. The reason for this communications is pretty basic. This defective part causes the engine to fail and gm knows that the problem exist and is well documented. The dealers have been notified by gm that problem is know but vehicle can be run so there is no priority to fix problem when reported by customer. Will it take more people killed by their vehicle stalling in traffic with no power braking or steering before gm is forced to take corrective action on a part they know is prone to failure.? i was told that the government uses warranty information to determine when a problem exist but we all know how this game was played with the ignition switch disaster.
Car was parked on driveway, driver door was open, driver leaned into car and shut off car engine with push button ignition switch, vehicleimmediately rolled back, open door knocked driver down, and was run over and died at hospital. Bystander tried to assist and was knocked down by open door and drug a short distance by the door.
Constantly been having engine problems. Engine light coming on and off. I was driving it down a highway, coming to a stop due to a red light when the whole front of my car begin to sputter and gave out. It read "stabiltrak" but when taken to the shop it only read a code for the carbon filter. Which, was changed and did fixed the problem for the time being. However, its doing the same thing again.. Which is very dissapointing because its a very well kept up with car, never goes without its necessities.. And at this point i'm thinking it could be my braking system due to this problem weakening my brakes but i don't see why because those were changed about 6 months ago. Maybe, even an electrical problem with my traction control.
My vehicle stalls randomly at stops. It has happened several times since my initial report. I took the car to the dealership the first time it happened and they did not find anything. Fortunately this time when it happened, i was able to hook up a hand held computer to the car and got the code p1a6f which is for the generator control module. My problem is my vin number was not under a recall with this exact problem for the same year and make vehicle campaign 13136.
Was at a stop light getting ready to pull off car lost all power including radio, was almost rear ended. I was on a city street. Also no matter what type of windshield wiper i have put on this car. They don't seem to keep the windshield clear.
The contact owns a 2013 buick lacrosse. The contact stated that there was some sort of an internal electrical failure with the vehicle. The radio and the back up camera failed to function. The vehicle was taken to joe johnson chevrolet (1375 s market st, troy, oh 45373, (937) 573-4252) for inspection, but provided no specific testing and diagnosis. The vehicle was also taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. I had the car repaired last year around this time with an issue saying that the battery charging system needed to be serviced. At the time i had recently bought a battery but the shop informed it could be due to a dead cell in the battery 1 year exactly and the same issue occurs. It start with the check engine light being displayed then it will start sending the message and battery light comes on. There should not be another dead cell battery. There is definitely an issue with the charging system of these cars. This will cause the vehicle when in eco mode to restart cause power loss whe driving and also cause the radio, navigation ect to loss brightness. The car releases loud sound for the a/c and defrost thumping and ticking also sputtering when accelerator is touched. Even when switching from park to any other gear is when this is heard regarding when a/c heat or defrost is on . This is during driving or after starting car. Originally happened 10/12/18 happening again as of 10/18/2019
The contact owns a 2013 buick lacrosse. While starting the vehicle, the steering wheel was difficult to turn and the service power steering message was displayed. 4/6/2013 my 2013 buick lacrosse 4 cylinder model was parked in driveway.at 9pm my husband went outside to get something from the car and saw the car on fire with flames coming from the back end rear bumper.by the time he could get a hose to put out the fire, the back bumper, the rear side on the passenger side and the rear tail lights had all melted from the heat.the car has been in the body shop since 4/8/2013 and no work can be done because the shop can not get a critical part from gm.the part is the wiring harness for the eassist and gm does not have this part in their parts inventory.on 5/6/2012, i contacted gm customer service and was told that the dealer can order the part only no one can give a date when the part will be available.i was told it could be two weeks or 6 months.the wiring harness is wired by hand and gm only has the stock on hand for their assembly line.until i saw the 5/6/2013 article on the fire risk associated with this model car, i had thought that this was arson. I now believe that i am dealing with a defective car and no one from gm told me of a recall.i found the article as a result of a web search.i have been without my car for one month and my insurance company has tried to work with the dealer to get definitive information on when part can be available.the dealer has to install the wiring harness prior to the body shop doing any work.now based on its recall, i suspect that this is the source of the fire.too coincidental!..updated 05/08/13 updated 05/15/13*ljthe consumer stated the fire was caused by arson. The contact owns a 2013 buick lacrosse. Sporadically, while starting the vehicle, the doors failed to lock, the gear shifter failed to shift, and the vehicle did not accelerate. The contact stated that the engine revved, the rpms increased, and the eco warning message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to o'rielly chevrolet (6160 e broadway blvd, tucson, az 85711, (520) 829-3876), but was not diagnosed or repaired. My car has recently had reduced battery power and strong burning smell in the back similar to the problems with recall13v173000.however, my vin was not part of the recall. The dealer said it was inspected and the part was determined to be fine, however, now it would seem as though my car should have been included, as it is now experiencing the same problems. I don't have tangible evidence because i didn't drive it long enough for the trunk to catch on fire.
Vehicle engine light (malfunction indicator lamp) came on; 5 minutes later charging system light came on with warning that "charging system not working".shortly thereafter, power steering went out and then abs light came on and then car shut down completely.after reading complaints about 2012 buick lacrosse looked in engine compartment and found that the serpentine belt was shredded.vehicle being towed to dealer in morning.

Purchased car a little over two years ago and in that time it has been in the shop for repairs numerous times.the problems that continuesto occur is the check engine light comes on and the car cannot stay running.it loses power at stop lights, been pushed at gas stations and has even stopped running pulling onto the interstate.taken it to the buick dealership and each time they claim to have "fixed" it.this car was in the shop two weeks ago exactly and the check engine light is back on and the car continues to stop running (full tank of gas) for no reason.i do not have an additional car to drive, so when it is in the shop i have to rent one or borrow one, along with the costs to get this car "fixed" i am looking at about four thousand dollars since november 2015.the buick dealership in twin falls, idaho needs to figure out what is wrong with this car and get it fixed for good.this is not ok.who spends this much money on a 2013 car, only to have repair bills and a car that is still not fixed! on a side note, weren't a large majority of 2013 buick lacrosse's recalled?if so, i have never been notified.shame on you buick for selling such a poor running and unsafe care and shame on rob green buick in twin falls, idaho for not fixing a problem after our car has been in your shop at least four times since november 2015 for the same problems that have been reported time and time again.
While operating the vehicle when coming to a stop the vehicle will cut off suddenly without warning at random times. It seems to be after the car has been driven for more than about 15 minutes at a time.this can happen when stopping just for a moment in stop and go traffic, or when stopping for a traffic light. A light comes on in the car that says service battery charging system. This is very dangerous, and since it only happens occasionally, it has been difficult for my auto mechanic to diagnose the problem.
The contact owns a 2013 buick lacrosse. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle felt as if it were shifting gears. Service charging system light has come on, battery light has come on service parking light has come on.car makes a whining sound when the engine restarts after auto stop mode.also, the engine has failed to restart after auto stop mode, and starting to notice a 'hot'smell
The heads up display has been fading in and out since early 2014. It has been replaced twice as well as the dimming switch for it has been disconnected and it still fades out and then sometimes will fade back on or just pop back on. The car is now off warranty but i feel since it has been worked on numerous times since 2014, buick should cover this problem. I called buick last week and was given a case # but can't find it right now. I have the records if a case is started and so does buick.

The vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt, but the failure also recurred at various times while driving. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Camshaft sensor fails repeatedly, after warranty replacement. This is causing the motor to die at different speed's and loss of vehicle control. The vehicle is unreliable and unstable. It is a liability to operate knowing any minute the csps can fail and render the vehicle useless.

Radio and dash components cut out and go black. Then when they come.back on a service battery message comes on the display but goes away withing a second or two. And the power steering will stop while all this is happening if turning

Transmission shifts down by itself when driving or switches gears. Took to rick hendrix buick in duluth, ga for service and they said nothing was wrong with it. Power shortly afterwards went out and i had to replace the entire power steering system. Also change car batterybut it continues to gradually lose power and gives of a type of burning burning smell

In 2018 the air went out in the vehicle and then the abs light cane on. A few days later the check engine light was displayed and then the next day the battery completely died. I took it to the shop and had it fixed. They said that battery was missing a cell and they replaced the battery, fixed the air conditioning basically fixed all issues. Fast forward to a year to the date the same issue started again in that order. The car has officially cut off and i searched and there are no open recalls coming up for my vin number.

The contact called the local dealer capitol buick gmc (909 capitol expressway auto mall, san jose, ca 95136, (408) 445-2500) and the dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
My 2013 buick lacrosse has a malfunctioning transmission control module which it already recalled by gm but my car does not fall under the recall because of my vin the malfunctioning transmission control module cause my car to go into limp mode in the middle of the street in traffic
My drive belt broke at 4244 miles and was covered by gm.it broke again at 58k miles and gm is refusing to cover stating normal wear and tear.it is not normal for a drive belt to have to be replaced twice before 60k miles. Was told regular maintenance recommends it being replaced at 50k due to hybrid engine, but owner's manual does not state this, just states to inspect it.we just had transmission replaced under warranty at 57k miles, so drive belt was inspected at that time; no issues reported.

My vehicle's drive belt was replaced at 4244 miles and at 58,863 miles on 02/16/16/16.i was able to drive 102 miles before that drive belt broke again causing me to abruptly stop. Luckily those around me were able to avoid hitting me.this is the 4th drive belt that my vehicle has needed in less than 59,000 miles.i was told that the drive belts are defective.i was also told that hybrid engines are much harder on drive belts and that they need to be replaced at least every 50,000 miles if not sooner.after one week my vehicle is still not repaired as they cannot find a drive belt for my vehicle that either is not defective or fear will not break again. It seems to me that there should be some type of recall on the drive belt.additionally, i had to pay for the repair on the drive belt at 58,863 miles which seems unreasonable as this appears to be a problem with gm and their hybrid/eassist engine, not normal wear and tear.
My car cuts off and gives warning of battery charging system failure when i slow to stop at red lights or turn in my driveway..i've changed the belt and it's still doing it.i bought this car in 2017 and i am concerned that maybe the recall wasnt changed for eassist components.i have a 2 year old.i cant stearns my car because it's too hard when engine kills. It its very dangerous and something major is wrong.

When the car had mileage in the mid-upper 30,000 in 2018, we noticed that as the speed coasted down to 30mph, there was a hard downshift. So hard, you thought the engine fell out of the car. At the time we had not realized it only did this when the engine was cold. So, when we took it to the dealer, they could not replicate the issue. In 12/2019, we left it overnite and they "did" replicate the issue the next morning. This is stated on our service bill. They suggested a deep atm flush, even though we had a normal flush 18 months earlier with them. We paid them to do it and the problem persists. Since we slow down every time we approach a stop sign or stoplight, this occurs as we get down to 30mph. Exactly at 30mph!!! once the engine is warm it, we do not notice the issue. But we live in northern ohio & the nites are cold oct-april.we drove the car to warm miami fl in 1/2020. It still did it, but only a mild downshift then quickly did not repeat as the temp was warmer there.to reduce the hardness of the downshift, we have reverted to trying to let the car warm up after starting it and applying the brakes as we slow down to 30mph! it is sad that this has to be done, as we have been taking great care of the car & it only has 48,000 miles. And we are not moving to fl!!! we bought the car new from this dealer.

The contact owns a 2013 buick lacrosse. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and the battery and check engine warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the power steering failed. After the contact powered off the engine and restarted the vehicle, he was able to drive normally. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer informed the contact that the recall had expired and did not offer further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 43,111.
There is a known issue with this model as well as other 2.4 litre gm engines where the pcv valve may become clogged and if it is not fixed it can cause the rear oil seal to be damaged, hence rendering the engine useless.there is a special coverage bulletin that cover this vehicle and others under certain vin numbers.however my vehicle had the same issue and is over $1`,000 to diagnose and fix.after talking to buick, even though i am within coverage dates and well below the mileage, my vehicle does not qualify for repair and i must pay for it out of pocket, despite it being a known issue in other vehicles.this should be moved from a special coverage to a recall for any affected vehicles under the 10 year, 120,000 mile threshold.
The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 9-5654186782. The failure mileage was 66,002.
The contact owns a 2013 buick lacrosse hybrid. After the vehicle was serviced for unrelated issues, the check engine indicator illuminated the next day and the "check the charging system" message appeared. Additionally, the vehicle would shut off and restart automatically. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
Originally happened 10/12/18 happening again as of 10/18/2019
The oil filter will not stay tight. We have it serviced at a g m service center.but every time they change the oil in about 1000 miles the filter comes lose and leaks.
2013 buick lacrosse.consumer writes in regards to vehicle rear view camera problems.the consumer stated when the vehicle was put in reverse, the image on the navigator screen was supposed to show a yellow guideline to assist in orienting the vehicle when it was being backed up. The guidelines were a critical feature of the rear view camera. The vehicle was missing those guidelines.the consumer contacted the local and national gm representatives and they refused to correct the safety problem. A fully functional rear view camera is a safety necessity with the vehicle, since it has a very small narrow back window. Compounding the problem was the unreliability of the navigation screen. The consumer had to take the vehicle to the dealer to have the navigation system fixed to function properly. When the navigation system went blank, the rear view camera did not work.

The code indicates an evaporation leak from the fuel tank..every time i put gas in the car it sputters or stalls before cranking.

Sitting at a red light and released the brakegave the cargas to move but just sit there like transmission wasn't engaged. Secone time car was being slowed down wife gave it some gas to move on up to stop sign she saidcar wouldn't accerlate she thought it had went out of gear finally engaged and moved up.
Camshaft sensor fails repeatedly, after warranty replacement. This is causing the motor to die at different speed's and loss of vehicle control. The vehicle is unreliable and unstable. It is a liability to operate knowing any minute the csps can fail and render the vehicle useless.

At 55 mph the transmission suddenly shifted into neutral and the engine rpm increases. Light breaking applied without operator. Gearshift lever and gas pedal both unresponsive. Continue at 10 mph to get off four lane, turn off engine and restart for normal operation. No warning lights, dealer could not duplicate malfunction, stated no codes were set.
The problem has occurred three times. While driving on the highway at 45 to 50 mph the car suddenly downshifts causing the motor to accelerate while the vehicle slowsdown andwhen the accelerator is completely released the speed is quickly reduced like the brake is being applied...to maintain a speed of 25 to 30 mph the motor rpm has to be in the 3500 range. This condition remains until the vehicle is stopped and then it returns back to normal operations. This vehicle was returned to the dealer for correction but they spent two days and never did find the problem. That's why i'm sending this to you.

When in a coasting mode(no accelerator use) car will apply braking all on its own and will not release braking till car comes to a full stop.no objects or cars are anywhere in front of the car when this happens.has happened twice while going around medium radius curves in the road. Very dangerous to us and the other cars behind us because we get no indication this is going to happen.this has happened a couple of times.the last time is indicated below.

While driving at 75mph, there was a sudden loss of power steering. I barely managed to get off the highway. The next day i started the vehicle and the steering returned. The steering has been intermittently going out since i parked it at home. I start the car frequently to keep the battery charged and each time the steering may or may not work.

Near the florida-georgia on north interstate 75 i stopped at a rest area.when i started the auto again,i found it difficult to back out of the parking lane and to straighten the cars wheels to exit the area.i realized then i lost power steering.slowly and on the right lane i drove the auto to valdosta,ga .i stopped at a motel and called the local buick dealer.the next day (april 2) i was able to bring the auto to the local buick dealer.fortunately, the dealer was just a few miles from my motel. I stayed overnight at a local motel.the dealer arranged for me to rent a auto.the next day, the mechanics at the dealership informed me that they would have to replace parts but did not know how long it would take to receive the parts and how long it would take to fix the auto.thus ,they removed my luggage and books from my auto and placed them in my rental car. Then i proceeded to drive to my home in illinois.on april 27,my repaired buick la crossewas delivered to my home in illinois.
65 year old wife driving 70mph on i75 in michigan when the power steering stopped working. Service power steering message came on . I had to help her steercar to a stop. I did not know it had electric power steering. It was 9pm at night. Looked for low fluid level. Decided to drive home. When car was re started the power steering worked. Wife does not trust car now.

On 8-6-2020, (about 11 am) while driving (about 70mph) north on i43 in eastern wisconsin, at a point north of sheboygan, the message 'service power steering' appeared on the dash. When i started to drive off to a rest stop, i realized the steering was very stiff and required extra effort to guide the car, the 'electric power steering' (eps) had completely failed. How could this happen when the car was only 7 years old with 64941 miles, less than 10k mi/yr!!! i carefully drove the car to bergstrom buick gmc in green bay wis. The diagnosis was the entire eps gear box had to be replaced with a cost near $2500. I was stunned. I complained to the service manager that because of the cars age & elapsed miles, this should not have happened! i further stated that i could understand that something like this might happen after 10 years & 100k miles, but not before!! he replied the car was out of warranty and that failures like this can happen. Eventually the car was satisfactorily repaired, copy of the bill attached. My contention is that this is not only a reliability issue, but more importantly a safety issue. When my wife & i purchased the car, we were both retired and did not have the daily grind of driving to/from work in all kinds of weather. In fact the car was driven minimally in adverse conditions. When this failure occurred, i had the composure to safely steer/guide the car, had my wife been driving, the incident could have had a catastrophic result. I now have 'much pause' about the reliability/safety of eps vs hydraulic ps (hps), if & when this will happen again! a similar complaint was filed with buick gmc customer service.

On saturday, april 7,2013 my wife pulled into a parking space at a condo in marco is.fl. She was driving our 2013 buick lacrosse. Knowing that the lacrosse has a low front end,she slows down to a crawl to avoid dragging the front end on the parking lot blocks. She is familiar with this parking lot as my daughter lives there and she has parked there often. This time upon applying the brakes the car did not stop, went over the parking blocks and severely damaged the car.the lacrosse has been cited for a braking problem by the nhtsa and issued a recall notice #13053.the recall specifically notes that,"a software problem may cause the transmission to inadvertently shift to sports mode removing any transmission- related engine braking effect." consequently,"if engine braking is unexpectedly removed, it may increase the risk of a vehicle crash." upon contacting g.m. Buick division, i was told that my vin# was not cited in the recall. Further, they wanted that i bring the car to a buick dealership for brake analysis.this dealership is 40 miles away in naples,fl.i suggested that they(buick) inspect the car at the repair shop where my wife had it towed to after the accident. Autocraft, the repair shop, on marcois.would allow them to do their analysis there. An accommodation not uniqueto them. Buick has balked at this arrangement. While buick suggests that this recall did not cover my vin#. I can only wonder if the recall should be broaden in scope as my wife's experience would suggest.in retrospect, i'm happy that this happened in a parking lot and not under traffic related conditions.
Service stabilitrack comes on and reduces engine power. Happened this morning driving on the freeway almost caused a huge wreck because i had nowhere to go and couldn't go the freeway speed.

Cuts off while driving
Originally happened 10/12/18 happening again as of 10/18/2019
My mother had stopped her car in my driveway . The motor was still running . She reached overinside the car and pushed the ignition button to stop the motor( while standing outside the car )the car rolled back pulling her under it running her over and killed her. I was knocked down by the door and drug into the street
Vehicle will randomly make a double bong signal with no associated warning lights.sounds is not the same as a seat belt sound. Will occur under variable conditions, moving stopped turning, highways, city streets etc. Has been occurring for an extended period of time and can occur multiple times a driving period. (ie different times yesterday) sound appears to predominantly be concentrated on right side of car but has appeared to come from directly in front of driver position a couple of times. Concerned it could be a safety condition. Unable to replicate to dealership since occurrencesare random but ongoing .
Battery isn't charging, car will stall frequently. Has been happening for a while, but has gotten increasingly worse over the last two months
The contact owns a 2013 buick lacrosse. While making a left turn into a parking space, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. The defrosters never worked properly.it seems moisture is being brought in from outside and fogging up the windshield.the vehicles poor defrosters became a safety issue when driving thru the last snow storm.visibility was extremely poor.i had to lean over and peak thru the bottom of the windshield near the bottom to get minimal sight.like i said, it was always an issue, but when you really need defrosters, you don't have any.

A four to six inch piece if metal broke off from the left front wheel (rim) of the car, without any external impact (pot hole or curb). This resulted in the rim piercing the tire and blowing its side walls. This collapse (damage) occurred from the inside section of the wheel (the side facing the engine bay) further indicating that it could not have been caused due to the car hitting a curb. Further there was no damage (bent rim or something similar) to the rest of wheel and rim which would have indicated a collapse due to the wheel hitting an object on the pavement. The large piece of metal broke off from the rim due to structural deficiency in the rim, which then resulted in the tire blowing up and causing a serious safety concern.
A 5 inch piece of metal broke off the wheel resulting in damaging the tire and causing serious safety concern. This piece of metal broke off from the inside section of the wheel, which faces the engine bay, ruling out the fact that it was caused by debris or impact from a curb or road. There was no other damage to the wheel, such as warped tires or dents or dings on the wheel, which should have been there if the damage was caused due to road hazard. As can be seen from the pictures the damage could only have been caused by structural issues with the wheel.
