Driver airbag light stays on .this is the 4th time i have had this problem since ipurchased this vehicle on april 2017. Had it serviced the first three times but now the warrenty is out and here i am again with the air bag light on. This has been very frustrating and should not be happening so often. Now i am left having to pay someone to fix this again !
Passenger airbag shows off even when someone well above the weight limit is sitting in the seat.i am of the understanding that the air bag will not deploy should there be an accident and that the driver bag would not deploy either. The passenger air bag off light is on whether in motion or stationary.i believe that a software update is needed to correct this. I have a recall number of 16007 that i found on the internet but not sure it is the correct one. This needs immediate attention as it is a life threatening issue.this has been an issue since the beginning of january 2018.
My front passenger air bag will not turn on with an average size person weighing 135lbs sitting in the front passenger seat. It seems to only work with someone sitting in it at a weight of over 200lbs. I just bought this car and my local gmc buick dealership tells me there is nothing wrong with the sensor because the mechanic that worked on it sat in it at 220lbs and it turned on for him just fine. Plus they said they are receiving no error codes on it. There is something wrong with this vehicles air bagwhen an average size person weighing over 130lbs cannot ride in the front seat without airbag protection. There has to be a fix to this as it's extremely dangerous for a passenger under 200lbs to ride in the front passenger seat while the air bag is off! i previously owned a toyota and it would turn on the passenger air bag even if my 13yr old sat in it at 100lbs.
Air bag sensor defective.when passenger sits in seat the sensor indicator reads off. Took it to dealer today 3/15/2018 and they said it needs a new sensor.when they tested it with a 280 lb. Mechanic in passenger seat sensor said a child was in seat and it was on the off position.the air bag sensor had a recall previously and was taken care of and still having air bag problems.have been driving with passengers in seat with no air bag protection.had previously taken it in to dealer and they said no problem but pressed them as indicator still showed off no matter who sat in seat.talked to gmc representative and all they had to say was we are so sorry.they were of no help at all.have talked to several other buick encore owners and they have had air bag issues as well. These cars need another recall as the first recall did not fix the problem.this problem of air bag off was while vehicle is in motion when someone is sitting in passenger seat well over the weight limit. This has been an ongoing problem since january of this year.
A car pulled out in front of my wife. She struck the other vehicle in the driver's door. The airbag did not deploy and the seatbelt did not lock. This caused her injuries. There has been a recall for this problem. It did not fix the problem. The accident occurred in a 35 mph zone and on a 4 lane road.
My car was in motion going approximately 45-50 mph when it hit a stationary vehicle on the highway. I was able to hit my brakes but still hit the car in almost full force, head on. Both my car and the car i hit are totaled, and i was taken by ambulance to the hosputal after, but my airbags did not go off.
Passenger airbag does not always activate.the light indicating that the passenger airbag has been activated does not always turn on when the seat is in use. It doesn't matter if the car is moving or stationary.it also doesn't matter who is sitting in the seat, meaning it could work for the person one day and not the next..
General motorsnever notified me of a recall on my 2015 buick encore in sept 2016.i found out about the recall by reading it in the newspaper. It involved the air bag.i called my local dealer and they made the repair.i called gm and asked why they didn't notify me. They had no good answer as to why.one of the people i talked to said the reason was because the recall was before i purchased the car ( i bought the car in feb 2015) this makes no sense. My local dealer told me the recall was made on 9sep 2016.the buickweb site hadanother personasking a question about this recall and stated they never received a recall notice.the answer given was call your buick dealer. Air bag recalls are very serious and i feel thatgm should be the one to notify ever one.
My passenger side airbag light comes on the dashboard telling me that my passenger side airbag is off even with someone sitting in the seat. I tested it with my boyfriend sitting in the seat holding our 40lb dog. Combined, they weigh over 200lbs and then light on my dashboard still says the passenger side airbag is off. The vehicle was not in motion. It was turned on asked parked in the driveway. I tested it while driving on a private road at 35mph and the light stays on while the car is in motion and while parked.
There was a recall on the airbags as being unsafe. I contacted my dealer and asked for them to return my call so i could determine a solution to the unsafe situation. They have not contacted me back in any fashion.
The display screen goes black during the day light hrs.then comes back on sometime later. So you can't see the radio stations.
Driving on freeway, approx 74 mph in a 75 zone. About 1.5 hours in to a 2.5 hour trip. All systems were functioning and no warning lights were on. Car suddenly lost power on gas pedal , power steering light came on, check engine light came on , all gauges are functioning erratically and then all gauges stopped or went to zero. Light indictating the transmission gear kept changing. But the cars tranny didn't shift or change just the light for the gear indicator wasflashing. Car slowed to approx. 40 mph, with the rpm's racing to approx. 4500/6000. Engine was still running and not over heating or any other lightsexcept check engine and power steering light. Stopped car on shoulder to take inventory of situation, car running and idile rpm's seemed normalchk. Engine and power steering light still on, proceeded to drive again . No leaks or overheating . All gauges came back up/ on. Proceed to drive ...car had no acceleration , very little , like the car was still in a higher gear . Speed up very slowly until it reached approx 55-60 mph. But the rpm's were at 5500/6000 , felt like the tranny needed to shift but wouldn't. Slowed down to approx. 35-40 .. To get rpm's in line or more in line. Drove home last hour on side roads and frontage roads with flashers on. Can't drive that slow on a freeway. All of car functional were normals , ac , radio ,windows , lights . Just the power steering and check engine light stayed on with no acceleration power or power steering ....called dealer monday morning for a tow into the shop .
Driving about 45-50 mph and the car suddenly turned off. The steering wheel became stiff and all the electrical power turned off, and the dash board screen was black. I then turn the ignition key off and restarted the car in the middle of the main driving road.

The contact was informed that the information center and radio needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the parts being on backorder. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. The vin was invalid.
Driving along at approx. 55 mph on a main hiway slowed to approx. 40 mph to make a turn, when suddenly the engine stopped operating. Everything shut down, no steering, no brakes. On star did not respond, car was disabled about 5-7 minutes, tried to start several time with the key. Serious issue, had car towed to dealer, found nothing wrong and no codes were obtained from the computer system!
On 4/25/18 was traveling a couple of hours out of town for a meeting. While accelerating (up an incline) from a hwy work zone of 50 mph, i temporarily lost: all dial readings, power steering and engine sounded stuck in a lower gear.a few seconds later, regained everything, check engine light came on and on star pinged transmission error/ take in for service within 1 day.dealership received u0073 code and identified 2 leaks from air conditioner.they suspected the leaks were affecting the sensors.on 5/5/18, while driving 40 mph, just 1 mile from leaving home - the same thing happened as above + traction control light came on temporarily with power steering light.upon pulling off the road, turning the car off, sitting a minute and restarting, everything came back and only the check engine light lit.the dealership (who have fabulous customer service) identified a different set of codes and ended up replacing "the brains" of the electrical system.on 5/9/18, driving 35 mph down a slight decline- again lost all dial gauges, power steering, traction control light came on and transmission seemed to be stuck in low gear.this condition continued for a number of minutes.i pulled into a parking lot on a hill (no fun to coax the car up), turned the car off, turned it on, and still power steering, transmission and gauges aren't working right.since home was 1 mile away, i headed that direction and after 1/2 mile everything resolved + check engine light back on. The drive that night to the dealership was special.50% of the time the power steering was on and off along with inability to accelerate, especially up hill.this time 5 different electrical codes were identified.so far, dealership has recharged the battery and are driving the heck out of it to see if more codes pop up.they do not yet feel it's fixed.was there a bad batch of 2015 encores?
The contact owns a 2015 buick encore. The contact stated that while his daughter was pulling out of a parking space, the power steering failed. The vehicle was restarted and regained normal power steering functionality. The contact stated that while at a stop light, the vehicle independently shifted in reverse. The contact shifted the vehicle to park and the vehicle then returned to normal operation. The contact stated the instrument panel flashed with random messages, some in different languages. The vehicle has failed to start due to the battery power being to low despite the battery being new when placed in the vehicle. The contact stated that the battery was replaced twice but failed within a couple of weeks after installation. The contact took the vehicle to denooyer chevrolet (5800 stadium dr, kalamazoo, mi 49009; (269) 389-0733) who was unable to retrieve a fault code. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

Takata recall? the eletrical control display turns off and sometimes back on randomly creating a definited driver distraction. The one connection i have made is it does happen at times when i turn slightly (not full hard turn needed)on the steering wheel. This concerns me as a safety issue; i ask is this related to the system electrical issue in recall 15168? for me it involves safety as anything happening in a vehicle unexpectedly create distraction. In my case it is momentary, yet distracting none the less. Ther date listed belong is one of many times.
I purchased this vehicle in 2017 with only 45,000 miles, 1 year warranty was purchased.i have had constant issues with tires, but more seriously i have had over $2000 in repairs for intake manifold, air conditioning, various issues with tires, repaired thermostat.i had an ignition problem repaired in 2019 and now the check engine light keeps flashing, the motor doesn't want to engage and i am in fear for my life that i will be on the highway and it will just shut down, causing a collision!
This has happened 5 times. 5 times to a gm dealer. 5 time not fixed.after traveling on the highway at 70-75mph for 3 hours, traction control light comes on. Followed by service power steering, then dials go to zero, transmission stop shifting. Towed of the highway 3 times, managed to limp to a dealer twice. Ecm re-programmed, battery changes, replaced ecm. Car is now in little rock ar, having its fifth diagnosis. Happened while driving my daughter to and from ohio to an internship in dallas. Broke down outside of lousville , nashville, fort worth, texarkana and finally little rock. Very dangerous.

The contact had taken the vehicle to the local dealer who stated that the rear differential had failed and the failure was caused by the issues mentioned in the tsbā€™s mentioned above. While driving mostly on highway after approximately 30-40 minutes the stabilitrak light begins to flash on and off, then it goes solid, then the power steering light comes on, then the service power steering display lights up and the power steering completely goes out.when this happens reverse no longer works.on 12/10/19 i had to have car towed to wilkins buick, they kept it for 2 days, noted that they did see multiple detects for loss of communication w/power steering control module and said the battery cable was loose, charged me $440.60.on 1/10/20 lost power steering again, we unhooked the battery, rehooked it which cleared the lights and was able to get home, parked car for the weekend.on 1/13/20 while driving on highway to work, after approx 30 minutes of continuous hwy driving, the stabilitrak light began flashing.i dropped it off at heritage buick that night.they kept the car from 1/14/20-1/20/20, told me they did see multiple previous codes about loss of communication with power steering the problem did not happen when they drove it and there was nothing they could do.i picked car up on 1/21/20. They did not charge me, gave me no paperwork.on 1/13/20 i did open a complaint with gm, case [xxx] because there had been a closed recall 15168, #15v14600 for same problem with 2015 encores with build dates beginning 1 month after mine. On 1/31/20 after driving approx 1.5hrs on highway i lost the power steering again, unhooked battery, reset ,drove home, parked car for weekend. 2/3/20 after driving 30 minutes on hwy stabilitrak light began flashing, dropped car at heritage buick. While braking to stop for a traffic light on a busy 45 mph speed limit road, the engine stopped running.i shifted into park to restart it.entire electrical system was dead except power seats and door locks.engine would not start and no other electrical related equipment worked including engine, gear shift, instrument panel, radio, lights,turn signals, and emergency lights.two safety issues because the car could have been rear ended:1). Could not shift out of park to push car off the road.none of the 4 ladies in the car could get it out of park.fortunately, when my husband arrived he could not get it out of park either.two macho police officers gave it a try, but failed also.after some effort, the tow truck driver was able to put it into neutral by using the shift lock maual release. None of us ever heard of it2). Emergency flasihing lights did not workgmc dealer told us a weld on the battery failed causing battery wire to short. I don't understand why some power worked, but there should be a backup source for emergency flashing lights.

The vehicle was towed to carl black chevrolet buick gmc (1110 roberts blvd, kennesaw, ga 30144 (770) 424-2200), but the failure could not be duplicated due to a dead battery. While the vehicle was being towed, the keys were left in the ignition and caused the battery to die. The dealer stated that the vehicle could have automatically reset itself as a result of the dead battery that needed to be recharged. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v146000 (steering). The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.
I was driving on a highway at 65mph. On a straight portion of the road the engine light came on , the engine revved up to over 4000 rpm, the power steering locked up, and many other lights came on on the dashboard display. This was a very dangerous situation trying to control the car. I was forced to slow down and when i reached 40mph the power steering came back on. The engine was still running over 4000 rpm. Most of the dashboard display lights went off except for the check engine light. Had to drive under 40 mph until i got home. While this was happening my onstar sent me a notification that there was something wrong with my transmission. The car was then towed to the gm dealer. At the gm dealer they could find nothing wrong.there were no error codes in the cars computer.
Had trouble getting into the car the engine light and power steering warning came on. The radio face was not working but the radio was on with no keys in the ignition. Tried to start the car and it will not turn over. Took several minutes to get in/out of the vehicle. Once i exited the car i went back to get the vin and again the radio was on no keys in the ignition and the service power steering light came on.i was just trying to start my car to go to work and it's like it's possessed
There was apipe or line that part of the air conditioning. The manifold has burned that pipe and now ac isn't working. The fix will be $900. The system that is in control of the seat that is supposed to adjust the seat when you get into car does not work. Wireless doesn't remember the phone connections from one drive to the next.

The contact owns a 2015 buick encore. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle started to hesitate, the temperature gauge began to increase, and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact parked the vehicle on the side of the road and then took it to autonation chevrolet north richland hills (located at 7769 boulevard 26, north richland hills, tx 76180, (817) 264-7753). The dealer diagnosed with multiple unknown failures, including an oil leak. The vehicle was repaired, but the failures continued. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 95,000.
There is a constant coolant leak appears to be coming from the turbo area. Coolant smell is constant as the coolant is being burned off by exhaust manifold. Loss of cooland can lead to overheating and engine failure.
Plastic valve cover warped at/before 83809 miles, leading to vacuum leak/loss of power.

I i bought used 2015 buick encore base has 102,000 miles on it bought it on may 30, 2020 and already have engine light coming on code says turbo bypass valvechecked with mechanic saysit will cost at least $ 1,600 to fix
Had an oil change at dealer (typical 15,000 mile check). On the return trip to home, engine started to miss, smoke was coming from back of car like oil was being burned and the engine "check engine light" came on and the car was stopped. Called dealer who had car towed to their location. While waiting for tow, i checked oil level (it was over filled by at least a quart (maybe more), dip stick was not seated properly to check oil level. When the tow truck drive arrived and hooked the car up to tow, he indicated that the passenger side bolt that holds the engine to the frame was missing. He indicated that he would tell the dealer (colman buick) about the problem.later on the second day at the dealer, they said they were working on the car all day and were in process of replacing all fuel injector (don't know how they could go bad in 13k miles) and the smoking of the car has been reduced (somehow oil is getting past the rings and is being burned.two days and still no car.

My engine has been misfiring and buick refuses to fix the problem. It is unsafe to drive, jerking, and getting stuck in first and second gear when trying to accelerate. I have brought it in twice to have it fixed with proof that the engine malfunction light is on, and they said there is nothing wrong. I emailed the manager in service, and he said there is nothing he can do.
Tried to stop before a red sign on a city street, the car accelerated on its own, passed the red light and run at about 60 mph on a 35 mph street for about half a mile and then stopped by itself. Pressing the brakes and even putting it on park did not help. I am lucky to be alive with my two passengers, and lucky not to kill anybody or cause property damage.
I was driving on a highway at 65mph. After driving the encore for 30 minutes then making stops at different places a few minutes apart, when the car is started there is a smell of gas inside the car. Does not happen when starting the encore for the first time of the day. I was inside the store from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, has happened several days now.
Our 2015 buick encore broke down on 9/12while driving home late at nighttraveling over the cuesta gradewe had a tough time with acceleration and had to drive slowover the grade and on the highway all the way home. Our car was barley moving as we made drove it into our driveway. We had lost all acceleration. Our car was towed to the dealership on 9/13 . We were told we were "just over the warranty mileage allowed 70,000 and had to pay for the repair . We asked gm to contribute since we were barley over the warranty mileage allowed".we picked up our car after the original turbo was replaced on 9/23 and again the car began making noises on the cuesta grade. Again we started to lose the ability to accelerate and had to drive the highway at a low speed to make it home with the car making terrible sounds and noises . This second turbo had failed . We had the car towed back to the same dealership on 9/24. After about a week the dealership calledand explained they had installed another turbo which had failed again and they were waiting on parts to replace itwhich would be the 3rd turbo to be installed in our car besides the original one the manufacturer installed . Each time the dealership stated additional things were happening to the car when the turbo was "going out" .we received a call on 10 /9 (over two weeks from the time the car was towed to the dealership)that the turbo wasnow repaired and we could pick up the car. We are very concerned for our safety with this car. When the turbo goes out it can cause a wreak since we have to travel on the highwayand cuesta grade as we lose ability to accelerate.
Engine has 66,164 miles on it, it is using 1.4 quarts every 1500 to 2000 miles. I've kept maintenance on time!had to add oil and at 68,132 miles had to put 4 quarts in this is second time.i'm told its all buicks are doing this?$12.00 every 2000 miles?engine light says on!napa -prodemand read out. This suv is on city streets

During the day, dash lights are nearly impossible to see.at night the dash lights up, but during day time driving they are horrible.this could be a real hazard when having to look down & study the gauges & take your eyes from the road.why doesn't gm correct this problem?this problem exists while driving or sitting still during day light hours.

Infotainment screen dims automatically while under a tree or driving under some clouds causing the driver to manually turn the light dial to the left to regain the brightness on the screen. This will automatically turn off the daylight driving lights.this occurs either stationary or while driving.there is a technical service bulletin in for another model of the buick line but nothing for the encore. The tech personnel indicated the sensors are too sensitive and there's nothing we can do about it.
Complaint registered yesterday, but did not include photos which i now will include. 2015 buick encore has a dimming issue with the screen when under a cloud or perhaps a tree, while moving or stationary.cannot see screen for directions when this happens. Must turn light switch to off in order to have screen return to brightness.when this has to be done, the daytime running lights turn off completely and cannot turn on again one stops and restart the vehicle.
After driving the encore for 30 minutes then making stops at different places a few minutes apart, when the car is started there is a smell of gas inside the car. Does not happen when starting the encore for the first time of the day. I was inside the store from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, has happened several days now.
I purchased this vehicle in 2017 with only 45,000 miles, 1 year warranty was purchased.i have had constant issues with tires, but more seriously i have had over $2000 in repairs for intake manifold, air conditioning, various issues with tires, repaired thermostat.i had an ignition problem repaired in 2019 and now the check engine light keeps flashing, the motor doesn't want to engage and i am in fear for my life that i will be on the highway and it will just shut down, causing a collision!

1. The vehicle roll backwards in unpredictable ways even on small inclines when foot is taken off the brakes. At times vehicle will go forward and at other times it will roll back on the exact slope. We were told by buick dealers that the manufacturer does not see this as an issue. However, both my wife and i have been startled on several occasions in ways that we have never experienced before. We consider ourselves to be very safe drivers an have been driving for over 20 years in the us with no accident claims. None of the vehicles we have owned or driven had been this difficult to maneuver. On several occasions, we have come close to hitting stopped vehicles behind us at traffic signals.2. In addition, rear visibility through the small windows is challenging which is further obstructed by columns.3. Also, rear visibility through the rear view camera is poor under normal daylight conditions due to the poor resolution.as a result of the above points, it's very unnerving when one is caught on the driver seat with the vehicle moving backwards unexpectedly. Finally, the inevitable happened. The vehicle met with an accident as a result of this. The vehicle which usually goes forward with feet off accelerator on a mild sloped driveway in front of our house, rolled backwards in this particular instance. The startled driver erred on the side of safety by pressing the gas pedal to move the vehicle forward since there were children playing around. However, with limited room to maneuver, the vehicle ended up hitting our garage door.the repair has been estimated at $6000 +. $1500 for the garage door. We firmly believe this is a direct result of the vehicle operational design. It has nothing to do with our driving. We have not had a single incident in 20 years of driving with any of the cars we owned or rented.

It also dibgs and comes up again every 10 minutes while driving.i've.consulted the manual and it says overheating and to turn back on. This does nothing. It's been icy here and i'm starting to feel unsafe. I don't know what.to do. I cant shell out hundreds to have it looked at.and have someone not be able to fix it.

My vehicle's awd disabled while driving home from work approximately 5pm during a snowstorm (i was about 9 minutes away from my home after driving for approximately 25 minutes). I was driving up an incline when the awd suddenly disabled, resulting in violent loss of control of my vehicle. I drove sideways up and then consequently down the hill and curvy road, veering into the opposite lane many times during the duration of my drive home. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic, i tried to stay in the center of the road until i reached flat road without inclines, dips and curves, when i was able to slide back into my lane. My vehicle was constantly pulling itself off the road and heading towards the guardrails. The awd did not recover and i had no control over my vehicle. I just barely managed to get the vehicle up the last incline and into my street/driveway. The next morning, the awd was restored. This is the second time that my awd disabled. The first time it disabled was earlier that year, approximately january-february 2016, during a snowstorm on my morning commute up the same road. During this first time, i had only been driving approximately 6 minutes when the awd disabled. I slid sideways up the incline but managed to keep the car in my lane, although it was sliding frequently..eventually i reached a flat stretch of road when the awd restored itself approximately within 15 minutes.both driving experiences when the awd disabled were incredibly frightening. I simply thought it was a fluke the first time it happened. I reported the second and most recent instance to my car dealership, who stated that there is no fix and no recall. I have an extended warranty on my vehicle. I have all-season tires which are more than sufficient and adequate to deal with winter weather driving.

A car pulled out in front of my wife. She struck the other vehicle in the driver's door. The airbag did not deploy and the seatbelt did not lock. This caused her injuries. There has been a recall for this problem. It did not fix the problem. The accident occurred in a 35 mph zone and on a 4 lane road.

Almost every day the 1 st & 2 nd time the brakes are applied there is a grinding noise & it feels like the brakes are grabbing. On my car it seems to be coming from the drivers side.my car parks in the garage. 1 st time dealer said there was a bit of rust on the calipers they cleaned them up..next morning same thing..2 nd time back to dealer they said it's probably condensation & it's always going to be that way..my response was that's unacceptable & i will continue to bring my car back till its fixed.they later told me there was a service bulletin for this prob..gm is monitoring & working on the fix.
My car is only 4 years old and has 40800 miles on it. In july 2019 low brake fluid light came on. Dealership not open so i stopped at belle tire. They confirmed fluid was low and topped it off. Brake fluid light came on again sept 26, 2019. Belle tire and dealership both concur i need a new master cylinder and brake booster. Seriously? 4 year old car and 40800 miles? can this be a possible defective part? can't seem to find a recall on this issue either.please help! repair is over a $1,000.
Rear brakes make a very loud noise when applied first time in am. Also, after standing long time during day. Noise is a loud scraping or rubbing sound with vibration. On going since 2016.
When first starting out, the brakes stop short.i have to brake 3 times somewhere safe in order to not stop short in front of another vehicle by accident.i had them inspected and the service center said they were fine, that's just the way they are.i feel this is a safety hazard because it stops short, whether i want to or not.it happens whether it is raining or not, but especially during rain.

The car had been parked in an unheated garage for more than 24 hours.i started it, put my foot on the brake pedal, and put it in gear (r). The car lunged back at a high rate of speed. My foot was still on the brake. To avoid hitting a vehicle behind it in the driveway, i shifted to drive (d) and the car immediately started forward still at a high rate of speed.the brakes did not slow the car down.i bumped the front wall of the garage and again shifted into r. The car started moving back again and the brakes did not work.i turned the engine off and the car began slowing and came to a stop after bumping the vehicle about 20 feet behind it.my foot was on the brake pedal the whole time.i checked for obstructions around the brake pedal and found none.afterward, when i started the car again, it drove normally without trouble.there was no apparent damage to the car as a result of either collision but the garage wall suffered some minor damage.

Brakes. In town i have to let off the gas for half a block and gradually apply the brakes or double brake to make it stiffen up and come to a complete stop. I've had it serviced. The master cylinder was replaced and it seemed fine for a month but then i began to have the same issues again.by that time though it was used it only had 36000 miles and is still giving the same issues. When applying the brakes the pedal goes down with maybe an inch or two inches from touching the floor.
On wednesday, july 10, 2019 i slid onto a shoulder taking a turn and punctured my rear passenger side tire. I replaced the tire with the spare, drove to work (less than 10 miles) at speeds below 50 mph, then drove home and scheduled to have the tires replaced the following morning. On thursday, july 11, 2019, i backed out of my parking spot at my home and started going down my very steep mountain driveway. I applied the brakes like i always do (my foot is always on the brake pedal going down) and received no response. The pedal felt normal (not soft), but the brakes did not engage. By that time my car was going very fast (because of the very steep slope), and i was struggling to keep it on the road, while trying not to hit another car passing by my driveway and not to fly across the two-lane road into a creek. I could not spare a hand for the emergency brake. I had to take a very sharp right turn from my driveway to slow down the vehicle. I didn't hit the other car or end up in the creek but i clipped my passenger side mirror and one of the passenger side panels. Once down and on even ground, i was finally able to use the emergency brake and stop the car. After a brief pause, i started moving again, and regular brakes worked normally. Two subsequent brake system checks (one at the tire shop one at a gm dealership) showed no issues. I was told there are no bulletins or recalls for anything like it. I looked on buick and gm forums and found at least two reports of a similar problem - brakes suddenly not working and then resuming function again. There are two complaints on this site describing similar issue - id # 11100704 and 11083404. Fixing the mirror alone would cost $900 according to the gm dealership, however, i am not seeing anything regarding gm investigating the issue closely.

I had purchased a 2015 buick encore vehicle on march 03, 2020, that had a "not for sale" yellow sticker on the windshield. I had notice that the vehicle made a thumping sound under the hood on the driver side when riding on the highway. I took it to johnny londoff service dept., but was told that nothing was wrong with it. In addition, to noticing that the vehicle would roll backwards on the smallest of incline. As time went on the vehicle would roll back, then roll forward on leveled grounds when i would take my foot off of the brake pedal. I took the vehicle back to johnny londoff service dept., and again was told that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. I took it to telle tires and auto center and found thatthe suspension was worn out on the front and back of the vehicle, with struts and spark plugs needed. This vehicle rolls back when sitting at a traffic light, at, in line at a fast food drive through, and just everyday driving. Johnny londoff should have fixed the damages and/or repairs needed before selling me the vehicle. I would not recommend buying a vehicle or doing business with them.
Squeaking and scraping and reduced performance of rear brakes. Dealer tried a fix with identical parts to the original ones but the problem continues. They tell me that gm has not found a fix but is aware of the problem and that they have tried the same fix on three other vehicles that gm previously attempted as a fix. Gee, it's only brakes. What could go wrong? i bought the vehicle on october 26, 2015. It went in for the service of replacing rear rotors and pads on december 29, 2015 with 2,187 miles. There was absolutely no improvement at all. The service mgr. Said that i would be notified by mail when a fix is available when i called on january 18, 2016.

Tried to stop before a red sign on a city street, the car accelerated on its own, passed the red light and run at about 60 mph on a 35 mph street for about half a mile and then stopped by itself. Pressing the brakes and even putting it on park did not help. I am lucky to be alive with my two passengers, and lucky not to kill anybody or cause property damage.

When i turn the steering wheel, you are able to hear a creaking sound that is very pronounced. This just started all suddenly. This happens when turning the steering wheel to the left as well as the right.

They did not charge me, gave me no paperwork.on 1/13/20 i did open a complaint with gm, case [xxx] because there had been a closed recall 15168, #15v14600 for same problem with 2015 encores with build dates beginning 1 month after mine. I was driving on a highway at 65mph. On a straight portion of the road the engine light came on , the engine revved up to over 4000 rpm, the power steering locked up, and many other lights came on on the dashboard display. This was a very dangerous situation trying to control the car. I was forced to slow down and when i reached 40mph the power steering came back on. The engine was still running over 4000 rpm. Most of the dashboard display lights went off except for the check engine light. Had to drive under 40 mph until i got home. While this was happening my onstar sent me a notification that there was something wrong with my transmission. The car was then towed to the gm dealer. At the gm dealer they could find nothing wrong.there were no error codes in the cars computer.

Driving on freeway, approx 74 mph in a 75 zone. About 1.5 hours in to a 2.5 hour trip. All systems were functioning and no warning lights were on. Car suddenly lost power on gas pedal , power steering light came on, check engine light came on , all gauges are functioning erratically and then all gauges stopped or went to zero. Light indictating the transmission gear kept changing. But the cars tranny didn't shift or change just the light for the gear indicator wasflashing. Car slowed to approx. 40 mph, with the rpm's racing to approx. 4500/6000. Engine was still running and not over heating or any other lightsexcept check engine and power steering light. Stopped car on shoulder to take inventory of situation, car running and idile rpm's seemed normalchk. Engine and power steering light still on, proceeded to drive again . No leaks or overheating . All gauges came back up/ on. Proceed to drive ...car had no acceleration , very little , like the car was still in a higher gear . Speed up very slowly until it reached approx 55-60 mph. But the rpm's were at 5500/6000 , felt like the tranny needed to shift but wouldn't. Slowed down to approx. 35-40 .. To get rpm's in line or more in line. Drove home last hour on side roads and frontage roads with flashers on. Can't drive that slow on a freeway. All of car functional were normals , ac , radio ,windows , lights . Just the power steering and check engine light stayed on with no acceleration power or power steering ....called dealer monday morning for a tow into the shop .

We had just left the grocery store, my wife was driving, and less than a mile into our trip home something failed behind the instrument panel of the car that caused hot liquid (coolant?) to pour onto my lower leg and foot in the passenger side front foot well.the vehicle had only been running for a couple of minutes and the coolant wasn't at its full operating temperature, so the burn was no worse than a coffee spill and didn't cause significant injury.if the vehicle had fully warmed up and the coolant was 200+ degrees, i would have been burned very badly.i just want gm to know that this happened so that maybe they can put something in place to prevent this before someone gets severely burned .

The first time it disabled was earlier that year, approximately january-february 2016, during a snowstorm on my morning commute up the same road. During this first time, i had only been driving approximately 6 minutes when the awd disabled. I slid sideways up the incline but managed to keep the car in my lane, although it was sliding frequently..eventually i reached a flat stretch of road when the awd restored itself approximately within 15 minutes.both driving experiences when the awd disabled were incredibly frightening. I simply thought it was a fluke the first time it happened. I reported the second and most recent instance to my car dealership, who stated that there is no fix and no recall. I have an extended warranty on my vehicle. I have all-season tires which are more than sufficient and adequate to deal with winter weather driving.
Engine has 66,164 miles on it, it is using 1.4 quarts every 1500 to 2000 miles. I've kept maintenance on time!had to add oil and at 68,132 miles had to put 4 quarts in this is second time.i'm told its all buicks are doing this?$12.00 every 2000 miles?engine light says on!napa -prodemand read out. My car was in motion going approximately 45-50 mph when it hit a stationary vehicle on the highway. I was able to hit my brakes but still hit the car in almost full force, head on. Both my car and the car i hit are totaled, and i was taken by ambulance to the hosputal after, but my airbags did not go off.
I've had my encore for almost 2 years. It is a 2015 and just under 50000 miles. For the last month its been saying awd off. This is as soon as the car starts. It also dibgs and comes up again every 10 minutes while driving.i've.consulted the manual and it says overheating and to turn back on. This does nothing. It's been icy here and i'm starting to feel unsafe. I don't know what.to do. I cant shell out hundreds to have it looked at.and have someone not be able to fix it.
*many times sitting still or going down road screen goes dim and sometimes almost black (whether headlights are on or not)*screen has went completely off * headlights comes on when not needed, and doesn't always come on when needed, going down road *alert lights in mirrors doesn't always work going down road *sitting in school parking lot with keys off the radio comes on by itself *sitting in sonic parking lot and when i went to start car i had nothing. I kept trying it and finally it started *bluetooth doesn't work properly,you can call out or you can receive calls,you can hear them but they can't hear you *passenger airbag light doesn't always come on
Driving along at approx. 55 mph on a main hiway slowed to approx. 40 mph to make a turn, when suddenly the engine stopped operating. Everything shut down, no steering, no brakes. On star did not respond, car was disabled about 5-7 minutes, tried to start several time with the key. Serious issue, had car towed to dealer, found nothing wrong and no codes were obtained from the computer system!
My 2015 buick encore caught fire in my driveway when my wife returned home from town.it was parked and she had just exited the vehicle and walked to the back to attempt to get groceries out.she smelled smoke and looked through the car toward the windshield and could see flames and smoke coming from under the hood.
Driving on freeway, approx 74 mph in a 75 zone. About 1.5 hours in to a 2.5 hour trip. All systems were functioning and no warning lights were on. Car suddenly lost power on gas pedal , power steering light came on, check engine light came on , all gauges are functioning erratically and then all gauges stopped or went to zero. Light indictating the transmission gear kept changing. But the cars tranny didn't shift or change just the light for the gear indicator wasflashing. Car slowed to approx. 40 mph, with the rpm's racing to approx. 4500/6000. Engine was still running and not over heating or any other lightsexcept check engine and power steering light. Stopped car on shoulder to take inventory of situation, car running and idile rpm's seemed normalchk. Engine and power steering light still on, proceeded to drive again . No leaks or overheating . All gauges came back up/ on. Proceed to drive ...car had no acceleration , very little , like the car was still in a higher gear . Speed up very slowly until it reached approx 55-60 mph. But the rpm's were at 5500/6000 , felt like the tranny needed to shift but wouldn't. Slowed down to approx. 35-40 .. To get rpm's in line or more in line. Drove home last hour on side roads and frontage roads with flashers on. Can't drive that slow on a freeway. All of car functional were normals , ac , radio ,windows , lights . Just the power steering and check engine light stayed on with no acceleration power or power steering ....called dealer monday morning for a tow into the shop .
There is a constant coolant leak appears to be coming from the turbo area. Coolant smell is constant as the coolant is being burned off by exhaust manifold. Loss of cooland can lead to overheating and engine failure.
The c0llision warning system not work properly.the outside detection system shuts itself off now and then sometimes giving a message "outside detection system not available."all this occurs when the vehicle is in motion which for me is a safety c0ncern.it has happened off and on since purchasing the vehicle.
My engine has been misfiring and buick refuses to fix the problem. It is unsafe to drive, jerking, and getting stuck in first and second gear when trying to accelerate. I have brought it in twice to have it fixed with proof that the engine malfunction light is on, and they said there is nothing wrong. I emailed the manager in service, and he said there is nothing he can do.
"takara recall" my 2015 buick as been doing diffrent things. First the blinkers and radio went out and then it came back and now none of the doors lock worked. I was stuck inside my car for 30 min. Now the ignition gets really hot. And the doors won't unlock in the back. Im concern about what's going on. While driving the signal wasn't working neither the radio but out of nowhere it starts working. It's been doing it on and off for the past four or so days. The key is getting very hot to where it almost burn me. Very weird... Im truly concern about that. And i was in the car when the door wouldn't unlock.
Rear brakes make a very loud noise when applied first time in am. Also, after standing long time during day. Noise is a loud scraping or rubbing sound with vibration. On going since 2016.
There was apipe or line that part of the air conditioning. The manifold has burned that pipe and now ac isn't working. The fix will be $900. The system that is in control of the seat that is supposed to adjust the seat when you get into car does not work. Wireless doesn't remember the phone connections from one drive to the next.
Brakes. In town i have to let off the gas for half a block and gradually apply the brakes or double brake to make it stiffen up and come to a complete stop. I've had it serviced. The master cylinder was replaced and it seemed fine for a month but then i began to have the same issues again.by that time though it was used it only had 36000 miles and is still giving the same issues. When applying the brakes the pedal goes down with maybe an inch or two inches from touching the floor.
The car had been parked in an unheated garage for more than 24 hours.i started it, put my foot on the brake pedal, and put it in gear (r). The car lunged back at a high rate of speed. My foot was still on the brake. To avoid hitting a vehicle behind it in the driveway, i shifted to drive (d) and the car immediately started forward still at a high rate of speed.the brakes did not slow the car down.i bumped the front wall of the garage and again shifted into r. The car started moving back again and the brakes did not work.i turned the engine off and the car began slowing and came to a stop after bumping the vehicle about 20 feet behind it.my foot was on the brake pedal the whole time.i checked for obstructions around the brake pedal and found none.afterward, when i started the car again, it drove normally without trouble.there was no apparent damage to the car as a result of either collision but the garage wall suffered some minor damage.
I had purchased a 2015 buick encore vehicle on march 03, 2020, that had a "not for sale" yellow sticker on the windshield. I had notice that the vehicle made a thumping sound under the hood on the driver side when riding on the highway. I took it to johnny londoff service dept., but was told that nothing was wrong with it. In addition, to noticing that the vehicle would roll backwards on the smallest of incline. As time went on the vehicle would roll back, then roll forward on leveled grounds when i would take my foot off of the brake pedal. I took the vehicle back to johnny londoff service dept., and again was told that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. I took it to telle tires and auto center and found thatthe suspension was worn out on the front and back of the vehicle, with struts and spark plugs needed. This vehicle rolls back when sitting at a traffic light, at, in line at a fast food drive through, and just everyday driving. Johnny londoff should have fixed the damages and/or repairs needed before selling me the vehicle. I would not recommend buying a vehicle or doing business with them.
Tried to stop before a red sign on a city street, the car accelerated on its own, passed the red light and run at about 60 mph on a 35 mph street for about half a mile and then stopped by itself. Pressing the brakes and even putting it on park did not help. I am lucky to be alive with my two passengers, and lucky not to kill anybody or cause property damage.
The contact owns a 2015 buick encore. The contact stated that the tint on the front windshield and two front windows did not prevent excessive heat from entering the vehicle. The sunlight burned the contact's arms and produced blisters while she was operating the vehicle. Medical attention was not required. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The side object detection in the sideview mirrors can become disabled, and the warning message "side object detection system disabled" only appears for a short period in the dic. However, the side object detection remains disabled (without the message) until the next key cycle.for safety, i believe that the message should stay on the entire time that the side object detection is disabled.when a driver does not know that the ststem is disabled, a serious accident could occur. General motors has issued document id 4426193, #16-na-069: side detection system unavailable or intermittently side blind zone stops working (mar 3, 2016) which states "do not replace any parts for this condition." the issue is not fixed and i do not know if or when the system is working. The side object detection stops working when there are no vehicles/structures/objects for 15-25 minutes. A warning message flashes briefly on the dic, but does not stay on even though the system remains disabled.

While stopped on an incline, even a small incline,the vehicle rolls backwards 6-12" when moving foot from brake to accelerator (the vehicle has automatic transmission).we have come close to hitting two vehicles behind us when stopped at a stop light and the vehicle slid backwards.2. Because of design, there are columns reducing visibility through an already small rear window.the provided rear view camera has almost no resolution and under most normal lighting conditions is totally useless,.the result is there is no way to see what is behind you when backing up or backing out of a driveway.3.we complained to the dealer and then to gm and were told that "all other encores were the same therefore there is nothing they can do."

The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and were unable to provide a permanent remedy for the condition. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued while driving during the day time.
