Power steering locks up or goes out while turning at slow speeds or when you apply the brakes.this happens on the highway, city streets, parking lots or in driveways. There is no warning or apparent reason for this to happen.when it started we had our mechanic take a look, and he stated everything looked good and power steering fluid levels were normal.he suggested he could look at the steering rack and pinion could be what is needed, since this is common on this model and year of vehicle.as time goes on it continues to worsen and is not safe to drive the vehicle with or without my family as passengers.the mechanic stated it was going to cost upwards of $1300 to repair, which we feel should be the cost of the manufacturer since this is a common problem!
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that the service air bag light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on numerous occasions, where the air bag sensor was replaced several times. The failure continued. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage 53,000.
My service air bag light came on for no apparent reason, after my friend and i re-entered the vehicle while on a day outing. I believe it to be for the passenger seat, because the passenger air bag dash light will not illuminate to on when a passenger is seated in it. Worried that it may be for the whole air bag system. When i called my dealership after reading about the recall, there response was unfortunately your car is not covered.i don't understand why?they said the same thing when the power steering pump went out on it & i paid separate for a diagnostics, which they sentme down the road, which is 125 miles one way from the dealership.only to return a week later and have is replaced.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. Also, the front passenger and rear driver's side seat belts would not lock. In addition, the tailgate was difficult to pull down and the tire sensor, air bag, and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the seat belts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v415000 (structure). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact received nhtsa campaign id number: 14v118000 (air bag). The contact stated that the part was unavailable as a result the remedy was unable to be performed. The manufacturer issued a notification letter stating that the part was available however, the dealer did not have parts available to perform the remedy. The contact had not experienced a failure.
We have a recall 14187 from buick.this recall has been ineffect for few month.we have contacted our dealer jones motor in savannah, tn.they have been unable to get the parts from buick to repair our car.
Got into a major accident two cars ran into my vehicle and everyone was injured and the air bags did not come on to prevent that. I have insurance and police report that states this.
I keep getting a message that says service air bag. My local dealer says that they have a service bulletin that says there is a faulty sensor & the fix is to have their electrician hard wire the problem. ($550.00 my cost) i asked what if not fixed, said that front collision the airbag would not deploy.to me this is a huge safety issue & should not be my problem to repair.
While making a left hand turn was hit in the left rear passenger door. The 10 side impact curtain air bags did not deploy. Was told by gm that the center post between front and back door is the only place that has a side impact sensor there from the front door to the back bumper offers no protection from a side impact other than the vehicle itself.
Battery was completely dead. Electrical system was shorted. Installed new battery. Vehicle started but would not shut off even with key removed. Check engine light stayed on and would not go off even with key removed. Found water leaked into dash. Checking internet brought other reports of other possible water leaks.
Two month old battery went dead.discovered water surrounding the battery and soaked all under carpeting on floor boards. Warranty is expired and since i am a widow on fixed income can not take it to buick as they charge exorbitant prices for problems that should be covered and not happen.aaa driver said there appears to be a seal someplace near battery that has come off letting water come up through the underside and collect around battery .
Squeaking brakes and steering noise.resubmitted for repair could not duplicate at dealership.resubmitted in 2011 and 2013, water pump replaced, steering gear box replaced, steering pump replaced, throttle body cleaned.engine timing off at idle, harsh/ruff transition between gear shifts.rear hatch failed to operate.sensor replaced, then actuator replaced, then control buttons replaced then final control button and internal door sensors replaced not by warranty, rear hatch struts failed and dropped on child and owners heads, open and close buttons non responsive on remote for the hatch.only the interior hatch release button worked.onstar would not power down, no notice it was connected, dropped cell calls and killed battery.upon jumping, the control module for onstar failed as did cellular antenna not covered by warranty.brakes squeaking and fluttering plus pulse at slow down.master cylinder had hydraulic fluid leaking into brake lines, boost pump failed and repeated flushing did not clear the system.air in lines caused brake failure near collision avoided with evasive operator driving maneuvers, 3rd flush cleared the lines not covered by warranty.steering unstable on uneven roadways and in left and right turns, repeat/recur, final submission 4th time, engine mount broken and possible spark plugs for idle problems.replaced sparke plugs did not resolve idle speed or hard shift out of 3/5 gears. A/c outage three times, no leak detected, freon loaded and reloaded: evaporator coil diagnosed as problem.total dash disassembled, several electrical issues surfaced since including onstar, ecm errors, nav sys stayed on, cell phone not connecting and check engine light illuminating without cause codes.over $16500 in repairs completed on this vehicle, some covered by warranty, some not, by 2013 nearly all repairs not covered by extended warranty.

My back hatch just started opening on its own. Motor in the lock keeps running. Now my driver side lock won't work. When in park, door lock pops up but inside handle still locked. Now indoor lock being difficult.
Issue: indicator light received to service rearview park assistresolution: dealership found not problem and light not on at time vehicle was brought in for service.no codes stored in system and no repairs made.the issue is sporadic and i still have the issue today.issue #3.
I would not recommend this vehicle, it is pretty expensive for all the problems we've had.it has already been recalled twice for two different problems.in december it started misfiring, hesitating and becoming sluggish.after taking it to three different repair facilities they figured out the pistons were misfiring and three ignition coils(all on the same side) had to be replaced.while i realize the time frame of the warranty has passed, we were under the mileage for warranty coverage.i guess automobile makers penalize you for not putting a lot of miles on your car.now, just three months later with only a few more thousand miles added - out of the blue i'm driving down the road and numerous warning lights come on.park assist goes off, all wheel drive goes off, abs warning light, and brake warning light all come on at the same time.when i called the dealer i was told to turn the car off and then back on and it should be fine - it wasn't.then i was told it was ok to drive it!if so, then why all the warning lights?too many things have gone wrong, for a price tag of over $50,000.00.we have always had the suggested maintenance performed, i feel this vehicle is not made well and is not worth the price tag, but more importantly - how safe is it???
Issue: navigation/main control panelgoes blank againresolution: dealership found document 237119 addressing issue.per document, updated navigation software and reprogrammed radio with spsissue #2
Purchased new 2009 buick enclave cxl fwd(3/30/09) fully loaded. 4 months later, battery died. Made 5 or more visits to gm dealership. They ran parasitic drain diagnostics over night , new upgrades installed, replaced battery twice and more than a year later, every couple of months battery dies. I think there are many people out there with this kind of problem that gm should fix the problem under a recall before some electrical catches on fire and gm will have to payout millions.
Issue: radio/main control panel for car would not turn on at all (totally blank) resolution: dealership found that power was going to radio but no power out of connector at radio.to repair, it was necessary to remove radio and repair connector for circuit. And reprogram.issue # 1.
If we don't drive our 2009 buick enclave every few days, the battery goes completely dead and we have to charge it to even get the key out of it.the dealership service department looked at it and said the battery is fine but there is a "bulletin" (but not a recall) about a "parasitic power draw" problem in these vehicles and they will let us know when they have a repair available.in the meantime, we are to make a point to run our enclave every few days.
Power steering fails and the wheel is hard to steer to the left or right.it continues to get worse and worse. In addition, as we were driving down the street at about 30 mph and all of the electrical went out in the vehicle.we stopped the vehicle, restarted it, and the problem went away.
The key gets stuck in the ignition in the direction of the car being on and wont turn backwards so you cant turn vehicle off.
Issue: check engine light issueresolution: dealership found code p0304 and p0306 were stored.recommended replacement of#4 and #6 coils and plugs.repair replaced all plugs and coils.issue #7.itr
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While driving 10 mph and making a right turn, the contact noticed that the graco child safety seat that was latched in the second row seating on the driver side was moving. The contact also mentioned that the daytime running lights failed to operate, as well as the key fobs. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and dealer several times for the lights and key fobs, where thebattery and sensor have ben replaced in the key fob and the bulbs have been replaced for the light. However, the failures recurred several times afterwards. The vehicle was not diagnosed for the seat belt issue. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
We replaced coil 4 and 2 back in dec 2015, then number 1 on 10-30-2017, and now they are stating numbers 3 and 5 are bad...is this normal? do we have a defective car? all of the gm cars we have owned, we have never have to replace 1 much less 5!!
Car spuddering on acceleration and inclines.check engine light on. Needs all spark plugs and coils replaced again. Codes p0300, p0302, p0303 stored.miss fire on 2 and 3 cyclinders. Also, needs replace line and recharge system as ac discharge line is leaking.
My enclave 2009 was caught fire when it was parked stationary in a garage at 9:40am on 5/30/2016. The fire started from the right front of the vehicle, which results in the whole car totaled. Me and my family have been suffering much from this event. It's hard to believe it happened to our vehicle. This vehicle has low mileage (about 30,000), well maintained by us and gm shop in the past (all the records are available in gm system).on 5/31 we reported to gm with detailed information and requested an investigation. On 6/2, customer department contacted me, stating that they don't care about the cause of the fire and they don't involve in an investigation as we have our insurance covered. I told them no matter our insurance company initiates an investigation or not, as the manufacturer, gm needs to check this vehicle and take responsibility and improve its product if there is a deficit in gm engine. However they still asserted that they don't take care of such case. I have kept the record of our conversation in case needed. It's an unhappy experience. All the evidence we got so far suggested it's the problem of the electronical system/engine. We don't want it to happen to other people. We hope gm to have someone to initiate an investigation asap.
Issue: repair done for premature timing chain wear due to engine control moduleresolution: recall repair #10287 performed and reprogrammed engine control moduleissue #5.
Driving home and the stabilitrak and traction control light comes on. Car now spins tires and has disabled the abs. Very unstable car with abs not working properly. Take my vehicle in for routine maintenance and was told rack and pinion is leaking. Got online and see class action law suit against gm for this same reason. No recall. I don't see how gm does not think this is a safety issue. To be driving down the road and steering fail. Not only endangering people in the car but also everybody else around them. I'm starting to hate this car. Looks good from a distance but the problems gm has had with these models enclave, traverse, acadia all models with this steering system. Not a cheap fix either! my father worked for gm so that's all we buy. Seriously reconsidering though.
Transmission-push on gas but wouldn't move, just revved up, was parked and tried to leave and vehicle wouldn't go in reverse so ended up having it towed and transmission replaced. Less than 75,000 mile on it. Power steering pump-would go to turn wheel and would take both hands to turn it because it was that tight. Motor mount for stabilitrak needed replaced. Would be driving down road and it would be wobbly and light would come on that stabilitrak/traction control needed fixed. Have vehicle about 6 months and put less than 1,000 miles on it. Only had 74,000 when i got it. Regret purchase and now feel unsafe in my own car.
Driving oninterstate 75 north of cincinnati oh in bumper to bumper traffic on 7-13-15 in left lane when buzzer sounded ,tractioncontrol light came on and engine lost power. Trying to get to shoulder was a bad experience as traffic was having one hell of a time trying to cope with a car that suddenly wasn't moving. How a bad accident didn't happen, i just say it was good luck! we really like our buick enclave and would like to keep it. I have a code reader and no code was revealed. I pushed the traction control button several times and reentered traffic and the car ran fine for the next two hours to home......

I was heading out my neighborhood up a hill to make a left turn and all of the sudden the steering wheel would not move and almost caused me to get into a wreck. I already had the steering pump and pinions changed 1 week ago and now this happens. Apparently this is an issue gm knows about and nothing has been done. I have 2 kids and i am concerned about their safety. Not to mention how costly this is and as a single mother i cannot afford to buy another vehicle or repairs, by the way i did just purchase this vehicle 2 weeks ago. Yes i did just purchase it from a dealer.

Was taking my family up to holland ,michigan for softball tournament. Driving on n75 at 65-70mph when all of a sudden the rpm went out of control ,attempted to press on the gas car would not accelerate, sounded like the vehicle would not shift out of present gear. Pulled over to the side of the road. Taken to dealer need whole new transmission.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled after the automatic locks malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,094.
Stabilitrac light on.found the master cylinder leaking into brake booster and replaced. The front motor mount was also broken.
My 2009 buick enclave had to have the timing chains and also 1/4 actulators replaced at just under 78,000 miles. I did go ahead and have the other 3 actulators replaced since they already had to drop the engine out of my car to replace the timing chains. This was a huge expense and after doing some research online it seems that a lot of gm motors from 08/09 have had the same problem.
2009 buick enclave, stretched timing chainso when this code appears your car will drive rough and of course the check engine light comes on so you lose your remote start. I have replaced sensor after sensor as well, also a motor mount. The vehicle has now approached 150k miles.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle hesitated, jerked, and failed to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the #1 cylinder misfired and the plugs and pcv valves were replaced. The mechanic then took the vehicle for a test drive and diagnosed that the transmission failed and the vehicle could no longer be shifted into reserve, third gear, or sixth gear. It was diagnosed that the transmission wave plate failed and needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that there were no open recalls. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
While driving my car twice this weekmy vehicle turned off while i was driving.one of the times it cut off at the light while i wasturning.
Design flaw resulted in a series of codes indicating premature timing chain wear.see tsb - 12-06-01-009-d .gm has opted not to assist in repair of vehicle. Vehicle was parked, now will not start.
Car shudders and has problems accelerating when gears shifts. Diagnosis=replace bank 1 camshaft actuator worn timing chains, replace all spark plugs and 3 ignition coils again. (performed pfi system dia test. Codes fired p0017 and p0300 stored. Correlation and misfire coes).
Vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating over 20 mph and became unable to reverse.this was discovered while driving. We do not have the funds to make this repair.the car has sat at the end of our driveway in a non-drivable condition since april 2019. The rear strut towers required complete replacement. This was noticed while driving 10 mph.the car made a clunking noise.i took it to the buick garage and they recommended the strut towers be replaced and the rear axle.they have record of the date and mileage.the power steering cable rubbed on the air conditioning line and a a hole was created.the air conditioner became non-functional.a diagnostic was performed by the buick garage but, we did not have the funds to repair the air conditioner since we needed to rebuild the strut towers.so we drove the car with a non-functioning air conditioning unit, until the car stopped operating in reverse and stopped accelerating over 20 mph.i am a single mom with 3 children. This has been a great hardship for us.it is very unlikely that i would purchase a car from buick in the future.

Vehicle transmission either, slips, doesn't shift or shifts erratically. The engine misfires at times. Steering issues. Navigation system issues, strut failure, heated seat failure. ## vin failed ##
We have the 3.6l v6 engine, and the timing chain and gears need to be replaced at 89,000 miles - rendering the car unsafe to drive (this has been a known issue across multiple gm cars using this engine). In addition, the steering gear/rack and pinion assembly are faulty along with the power steering pump (also a known issue).
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was merged to the shoulder of the road. The engine failed to restart after several attempts. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.
Passenger side air vents only blow cold air when heat is selected.all other vents blow hot air. Checked and code b0423 stored. Replaced right temp actuator and reprogrammed hvac module.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle started to jerk, the gears slipped, the rpms increased, the vehicle failed to accelerate, and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission failed after having the vehicle for 9 months and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.*dt

Was driving on ramp to enter highway, with my three 6 and younger children, and also 7 months pregnant! the enclave just stalled and still can not start but one time it did, but it sounded like it was going to blow up making weird noises so i shut it off right away. I have been researching this and i see it is very common with 2009 & 2010 enclaves. I don't understand why nothing has been done? if this happened shortly later i would have been on the highway and several people could be involved getting hurt or killed. I have had it less than a year, with less than 104,000 miles on it. Also has wheel bearing issues which i replaced front now the rear ones need to be done. What is up with this neglect and no one to assist us consumers until someone gets seriously hurt or killed! now the vehicle is sitting at a garage where towed waiting for report and i have no vehicle so lost my job i have four kids to support. Figured i buy a newer decent vehicle to be dependable & reliable only to find out it's neither only unsafe for my family.
Have issues with vehicle idling and the car jumps at the point of switching gears.when driving on the expressway the car goes above 50 hesitantly.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that while driving at about 35 mph, the vehicle stalled making a ticking noise. The contact put the gear in park and restarted the vehicle and drove home. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that a rod in the motor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a local dealer for a diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 162,000. The vin was not provided.

We purchased a 2009 gmc buick enclave from gillie hyde used cars in glasgow, ky on 3-15-19.immediately upon driving the vehicle home, we noted that the vehicle shook when accelerating.we immediately took to our mechanic who noted the transmission issue and we researched the vehicle and found that there was a recall on the vehicle with an extended warranty to the transmission as well as the timing as well as the rear tailgate falling after automatically opening.none of these items were listed.https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/buick/enclave/2009/reliability#recallsthe recalls were not noted on the carfax provided by the dealership.we feel as though we have been mislead and completely lied to about this vehicle.the vehicle shakes bad.we had transmission fluid changed, oil changed and still shakes.gm knew of the shaking resulting from the timing chain stretching and our dealer did not inform us of this (even when they had another enclave on the lot with this issue and told us not to buy it).gm continued to manufacture this engine and finally issued an extended warranty:in november 2012, gm released a special coverage adjustment (#11340c) for timing chain wear in 2.8l and 3.6l v6 engines (lp1/ly7/llt).

I purchased the vehicle used 1 month ago.on two occasions, the car has not started after getting gas.after several minutes, the car will start again.i believe this problem has been fixed by replacing the evap purge solenoid.on two occasions within the last week, the car would not start after being parked in the driveway overnight.the first time, the battery was completely dead and the car had to be towed in.the mechanic attributed the problem to low voltage, recharged the battery, and the battery tested good.five days later, the vehicle was dead again.a little research seems to indicate there may be a problem with battery drainage in the 2009 buick enclave.since purchase, the vehicle has been at the mechanic for more days than i have used it.
Engine coil misfires resulting in hesitation when accelerating.
I have a2009 buick enclave its start have a intermitent loss of power steering, when at lower speeds and try to turn left or right. Last weeks this been happen every day, sometimes its make a lot noise and get check engine code p0008. Then check engine goes off after couple hours.
While driving, i noticed my engine started sputtering and had problems accelerating.soon afterwards, the "malfunction indicator light" (aka check engine light) came on and stayed on.i contacted the dealer and took it in for repair.it was diagnosed as "pistons misfiring".i had pistons/cylinders replaced at a cost of several hundred dollars.a couple of months later, the same thing happened and i had other pistons/cylinders replaced.this has happened about a half dozen times between march 2014 and today (march 2015).i have paid thousands of dollars for this same problem and i do not understand why a recall has not been issued.the dealer told me that there are several pistons/cylinders that can trigger this problem.just by doing a simple search online, i see that many others have experienced this problem with the buick enclave.as of today, 31 march 2015, my engine began sputtering and the check engine light came on again.i have lost faith in buick behind this and i do not believe i will purchase another buick.
Purchased 2009 buick enclave new in april 2009.taking it to the dealer for the third time in a week for the steady malfunction indicator light (aka check engine light).first visit (wednesday) revealed pistons misfiring.approximate cost - $400.second visit (friday) did not reveal anything.dealer stated that when the mil was 'fixed' on tuesday, it probably triggered something to make the mil go off for no reason.or, it could be a real problem that will only be revealed after the mil is reset.if the mil does come back on, it's probably the catalytic converter - which will cost almost $600 for the part and $400 plus for the labor.mil came back on friday evening.third visit is tomorrow and i shudder to think what will happen.after researching online, it appears many enclave owners have experienced problems with the mil.very costly problems.have had the same problems that others have experienced - timing change, batter replaced at an unusually short period of time after purchasing vehicle, power steering, memory seat motor blew, peeling paint from a/c and radio buttons and other buttons, etc.really enjoyed the enclave but starting to regret this purchase as it is only 5 years old.some of these problems should have been recalls and no cost to consumer.
The engine on my 2009 enclave was replaced infeb of 2012 because it was cracked , at the time i had approximately 32k on the car. There was no indication of a problem the car just died on a major highway. The car again died a few weeks later due to a timing belt snapping. On 8/10/12 i was traveling from my home state of new york to virginia for vacation, with my family, and the car lost power again on a major highway at 10:30 at night we had to have the car towed, find a hotel and then rent a car to get to our destination. This time it was a fuel injector and an o2 sensor. We have incurred over $900.00 in expenses we have contacted buick and they are not willing to do anything about this car. We will no longer be covered by a warranty after 50k the car currently has about 43k. The car has broken down 3 times since feb. Each time with my family in it, there is never any indication that the car is going to break down it just dies. I am fearful to keep putting my family in this car what do i do?
Having a problem with coolant leaking out water pump. It doesn't do it all the time. But i did find that there was a recall about a bad seal in the water pump that causes this problem. Not sure if my vehicle is associated with it but worried that it may cause fire or cause vehicle to over heat.
The check engine light came on.i took the vehicle to the dealer and it was diagnosed as a "stretched" timing chain.the vehicle was under warranty and the dealer replaced the timing chain.the vehicle only had 30,000 miles when the problem arose.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the headlights failed to provide adequate illumination while driving. There were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that while the vehicle the vehicle was being inspected at the residence, she was informed that the driver's and passenger's side lower control arms and ball joints were faulty. The vehicle was taken to greens auto repair (23 e orvis st, massena, ny 13662, (315) 514-1282) to be diagnosed however, the result was still pending. The vehicle repair was started but not yet completed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,769. The vin was not available.
A 18 wheelers tire tread was in the road.i straddled it to avoid a wreck.the tread punctured the front of my plastic gas tank resulting in a gas leak.i had to payfor a new tank and installation. There isn't a protective shield on the front of tank.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While stopped and on a slight incline, the contact stated that the vehicle rolled away in reverse. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
In the past i had jerking or slipping of transmission at approximately 40 miles an hour, or the engine was having a coil miss fire. I had 3 new coils installed by dealer under warranty with similar problems before. Took to dealer and they could not determine if transmission was slipping or engine miss firing, but no code on miss firing engine. Slipping or hesitating of transmission is more likely but can not determine since does not act the same consistently. Steering noise started in the winter approximately november 2013, but off and on since; steering seems a little stiff but not failing yet like so many other complaints i have read about here. I was charged $342.81 for dirty throttle body and oil in the air dust tube which might cause misfire, they cleaned and replaced bank 2 value cover and cleared codes, performed idle lean reset.this did not fix problem on 05/19/2014. I returned on 06/10/14 and left car till 06/11/14 the dealer let me use a loaner over night. The dealer said stumble/misfire at times was not acting up enough to diagnose. I had the cars automatic transmission flush service on 02/26/14 and there was no problem at that time. In the course of owning this vehicle i had 3 coils replaced with problems starting 01/05/10 one coil, second coil on 08/11/10. Third coil shortly thereafter, this is after complaining since 12/02/2009 about engine shudder. The misfire/stumble is still happening about 40 mph and sometimes around 20mph if you are slow going but not on a pull or accelerating. We love the car, but the problems are getting expensive and theworry of what else can go wrong is stressful. I did not mention the warranty repairs of water pump going out front motor mount failure, shift lever, airbags, seat belts, left out remote mirror failure, engine and transmission code updates. Dealer seem ok, so gm can not fix or will not due to cost.
Purchased a 2009 buick enclave in september 2014 with 49013, i drove it to georgia october and noticed on the trip that the vehicle would roll back while in drive on an incline, both forward while in reverse and backward while in drive. After returning i scheduled an appointment with my dealer about the problem and was informed that the roll back was normal, i have driven many vehicles with automatic transmissions and have never encountered this problem. I checked on line and found many complaints about this from 2009 to 2011, i believe they corrected the problem in 2012. I feel this is a major safety problem and should be corrected before someone gets hurt or killed. Are they going to let this safety hazard continue like they let the ignition switch problem with general motors vehicles continue until people were injured and killed. I have read that if they fix the problem it would increase the fuel consumption, i would rather have a safe automobile that get a little less miles per gallon then an unsafe car that could end up killing someone. This problem should be conveyed to people who are looking to purchase a buick enclave with this defect so they can decide if they want to drive a unsafe vehicle. I believe most of these problems began right after the bailouts by the government, could it be general motors decided to cut back on safety features on its vehicles in order to regain their profitability in the car market and make them look good.

I took my car in to be fixed again.i needed the running lights and a hesitation in the car fixed. So they fixed the problems, but when they went to test drive it the power steering failed. Now the power steering needs to be replaced.it seems this car is needs to be fixed all the time.i have had a lot of cars and this is the most i have ever had problems with a car.it really scares me that this can be fixed but will most likely fail again due to the problems with gm's steering.
Have issues with vehicle idling and the car jumps at the point of switching gears.when driving on the expressway the car goes above 50 hesitantly.
While stopping for a traffic signal on a slight incline the vehicle began to roll backward. The engine would not hold even for the amount of time to move my foot onto the brake. Vehicle rolled backwards approximately 1-2 feet in process due to weight of auto and inability for drive train to retain the original position.upon investigation i found this problem exists and will not be addressed by the manufacturer.
Driving on a freeway speed posted 80mph, 2009 buick enclave rpm's began to shoot from 2000 rpm to 5000rpm when pushing on accelerator.forward movement continued for short distance at 2000 rpm.traffic was merging to one left lane for construction on a bridge.pulled off to the right and stopped. Before entering one lane of traffic over bridge. After putting car in park, i tried to move forward in drive and then reverse. The transmission was completely gone. If i had entered that bridge with traffic pushed into one lane it could have been a disaster.cars were entering that bridge at at least 70 mph.i feel this is a very dangerous situation and see that gm has extended the warranty on these vehicle transmissions to 120,000 miles.i have owned the car since 30 ,000 miles and have been the only driver. I am 68 years old and have never towed anything with it.i baby a car.this part failure is very dangerous.if i had not pulled off, i would have put myself and many other motorists in danger.
I had taken the car to buick dealer for an oil change. I asked them to check if they saw a possible oil leak because i saw a few spots in the garage. They said there was a leak from a rubber bearing and the cost to fix that was 2700. Tool the car sears to have them double check. Sears said there was not leak. There was residual oil from oil change. This was on 06/20. Checked every day after that to see if the oil leaked again and it did not.on 06/28, while coming home with my kids, hear sudden noise, and in a few seconds smoke coming out from left front side of the car...lot of smoke. Got the kids and dog out safely. Tried to turn off the car...i had the key out but the car was still on. It just would not turn off. Tried taking it our of the garage and the steering would not turn. Somehow got the car on the curb and after trying a few time, the car did turn off. Noticed all the coolant had flushed on the floor. Got it towed to the dealer. Dealer said power steering gear and power steering pump burned and needs replacement. Also said it was because of a minor oil leak that was under the engine that caused it.coolant flushing was covered and gm will pay for the fix but i will need to pay 2500 for the steering gear and pump replacement.this could have been a disaster and life threatening if it had happened at high speed. Gm least concerned about it and not supportive or standing behind their cars. I have only 36k miles on it and would not have expected something like this. I read on some forums where a lot of people have had similar issues. For the safety of other buick enclave holders, i please request you to have buick act on this and send a recall.
Hard shifting noted in gears. Car acts like it's in neutral when in reverse. Buick dealership says the wave plate is defect. Other 09 buick enclaves are covered by specialty policy. 14404 a. But not my vin vin. Same make model and transmission. I was told by gmc customer service to complain here.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. After the vehicle was placed in park, the contact exited the vehicle and heard an abnormal noise. The vehicle rolled back towards the woods. The contact called southtowne chevrolet (695 bullsboro dr, newnan, ga 30265) and was informed of a recall. The vehicle was towed to southtowne chevrolet where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
Vehicle transmission either, slips, doesn't shift or shifts erratically. The engine misfires at times. Steering issues. Navigation system issues, strut failure, heated seat failure. ## vin failed ##
In august of 2014, around 60k miles, i noticed a moan when i steered as well as a "knock" that i had heard previously and taken into the dealership under warranty (they said it was a tire rod; clearly it was not). I was aware the moan may be my power steering pump, so i brought it in for diagnostic appointment to a local repair shop. Not only did i find my power steering pump needed replacement, but that was the cause and effect of a much large issue- my steering rack was loose, and was disengaging from the mount, which in turn, caused the corruption of my power steering pump. I was told it was worsening very quickly and if i lost my steering rack from the mount, i could lose steering, which could result in a crash. I was informed this type of repair is highly unusual for a car this new, with no accident history, and otherwise in excellent condition, and is likely an "engineering issue." i am appalled at not only the price of these repairs which i paid out of pocket ($1,968.51), but after some research, how common this particular problem is with 2008 & 2009 buick enclaves, especially around 60k miles. The mileage on my vehicle now is 65,342.
When driving on highway between 70 and 75 mph the transmission starts slipping and rpm jumps up to 4500.also encounter the same problem on local street driving between 30 and 40 mph, transmission starts slipping and rpm races from about 1500 to 2800. Took the vehicle to local buick dealer. They stated there is recall on the transmission for that year but not this particular vin. This is dangerous as the loss in power almost resulted in me being rear ended a couple of times.
Stabilitrac light on.found the master cylinder leaking into brake booster and replaced. The front motor mount was also broken.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle failed to shift into fourth or fifth gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,000. Ma 10/19/2015 updated 10/26/2017
My wife took a trip to springfield ill. From paris mo. On 5/5/21 she drove appox 50 miles toward springfield on i72 e.her tachometerstarted shooting up about 5-6 thousand rpm at 70mph .hot transmission light came on.i told her to stop an let it cool.the light went off and she put it in gear only to find she only had low gear.we took it to s & k buickin springfield ill. Where they diagnosed it . The wave plate in the transmission had exploded.when we explained this vehicle only has 52,000 miles they or gm would do nothing for us.we find that ridiculous.they only used that transmission for 2 years and abruptly stopped using it.we have read of many of these with the same issue on the internet sites. Know they want us to pay nearly $5000.00 to replace transmission.once again this vehicle only has 52,000 original miles is garage kept and is pampered .this in our mind should be a recall and they should have some responsibity in this issue at general motors.any help would be appreciated.also wednesday 5/19/2021 the dealer will have had this vehicle 2 weeks.another joke.
No sound, just quit when i tried to increase speed. Ontohighway i.had to pullover and went slowly into garage. The car has complete transmission failure, bad bearing on transfer case shaft, which is leading to 7 thousand dollars in repairs. I take great care of my cars and am very disappointed in the performance of this vehicle. I am surprised there are no recalls. Why would a transmission failat this mileage? i am looking at another car manufacturer for my next vehicle. I have always purchased gm products.
Battery was completely dead. Electrical system was shorted. Installed new battery. Vehicle started but would not shut off even with key removed. Check engine light stayed on and would not go off even with key removed. Found water leaked into dash. Checking internet brought other reports of other possible water leaks.
Car shudders and has problems accelerating when gears shifts. Diagnosis=replace bank 1 camshaft actuator worn timing chains, replace all spark plugs and 3 ignition coils again. (performed pfi system dia test. Codes fired p0017 and p0300 stored. Correlation and misfire coes).
While driving, vehicle misses occasionally, engine light blinks and transmission has a hard time shifting, then will run fine for a few minutes and do it again, this happens daily and every few minutes.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that upon placing the gear shifter into park, the vehicle reverted to neutral with the circuit relay warning message displayed on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the contact was unable to remove the key from the ignition and was unable to restart the vehicle. She also mentioned that the vehicle began to roll away as the failure occurred. The contact applied the parking brake to stop the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 09v073000 (power train) however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Driving on the highway the rpms started racing and it felt like the transmission was slipping. We started losing power and eventually the car would not shift out of first gear. Carmax had a dealership repair the transmission. We don't use this vehicle often so when we drive it several months later it seemed fine initially then after driving it a little more we started having the engine light come on and getting several fault codes and very rough shifting at lower speeds 30-35 mph. In the process of trying to get the issue fixed again.
When in reverse, the vehicle will still roll forward on a decline and when drive, it rolls backwards when on an incline.it acts as a stick shift.i was going up an incline coming out of a parking lot and stopped.when i took my foot off of the brake to go, the car rolled backwards and almost hit the car behind me.i pulled into my driveway and took my foot off of the brake and it rolled two lengths before i put on the brake to stop it from going in the street.while reversing into my inclined driveway, if i don't keep my foot on the gas to control momentum or it will roll forward.
My dealership identified a significant problem with the power steering gear on my vehicle that constituted a significant safety issue.had it not been caught, my power steering inevitable would have failed while driving and resulted in a crash.i was also advised by the dealer and have learned through research that this is a very common problem affecting buick enclaves and other similar gm suvs and crossovers.the repair work to correct this manufacturer defect is over $1500 and conveniently not covered by warranty.this is a significant and unacceptable issue and should result in a recall of all affected vehicles and reimbursement of repair costs to affected owners.
Car lost power steering at low speed when making turns.
Check engine light on with reduced engine power message.also display ac off message and overheat message.vehicle towed.pressure tested system found water pump leaking. Removed and replaced water pump.front timing cover leaking.removed front engine cover and resealed.found both front struts leaking. Removed and replaced front struts.
I attempted to put my seatbelt on the cable that attaches the seatbelt to the vehicle broke.if this had failed during an accident, my seatbelt would have failed.i have contacted gmc regarding the issue.they advised me that there was an extended warranty for this item but it has since expired on my vehicle.they are not willing to fix even though it is a big safety concern.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that the third row rear passenger side seatbelt failed to retract and the seatbelt had to be cut. The contact mentioned that due to the failure the passenger sustained an abrasion across the chest. The vehicle was to be taken to an authorized dealer for inspection, diagnosis and repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,500.
2 rear seat belts will not latch. Major safety concern as we use these seats.
The contact stated that the seat belt buckle became fractured and the contact was unable to secure the seat belt. The contact stated that the warning lights for the seat belt did not illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not been repaired. The failure mileage was 35,000. Updated 06/10/14 mathe consumer stated the side seat belt buckle was broken. When it was in the fold down position, it was difficult to raise it back into the sitting position. Updated 07/03/14
Complaint about headrest in 2009 buick enclave. The headrest tilts so far forward that it is not possible for me to sit against the back part of the seat without having the headrest push my neck forward and down. Road bumps cause it to slam in and out against the head causing neck and back strain. The design of this headrest is flawed and dangerous.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that the head rests for both front seats were tilted too far forward, causing discomfort to the contact while driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact asked if the head rest on the second row of the seats would fit the front seats. The consumer also inquired as to how to remove the 2nd row seat head rest.the consumer ordered and installed the 2nd row head rest which eliminated the discomfort. The failure mileage was 1 and the current mileage was 18,000. Updated 02/10/11updated 02/22/11
Stabilitrac light on.found the master cylinder leaking into brake booster and replaced. The front motor mount was also broken.
At 13,759 miles on new vehicle, brakes pulsed when applied.front rotors excessively rusted/pitted/warped,measured and tried to machine, would be below min. Specs if machined.brake pads were worn excessive at min thickness due to the rotor concern.replaced front brake rotors and pads.rear rotors warped/out of round, machined rear rotors.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, he attempted to stop the vehicle and noticed that the brakes failed and the brake pedal went to the floorboard. He tried to downshift and could only stop the vehicle by using the parking brake. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who could not duplicate the failure; therefore, they changed the brake fluid. The contact had not spoken with the manufacturer when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were approximately 28,000.
My husband went to make a right hand turn and when he turned he lost power steering and the abs light, traction control icon, brake light and "service all wheel drive" all came on at the same time. My dash looks like a christmas tree.
2009 buick enclave experienced noisy brakes with only 16,000 miles.gmc couldn't diagnose the problem so the brakes and rotors were replaced. 7 months later the same car with 26,000 miles had heavy brake pulsating under normal braking conditions.gmc had to turn the front rotors again due to excessive heat and burn spots which caused warping of the rotors.gmc says this repair doesn't fall under warranty since the brakes and rotors were replaced one time prior; however, they are missing the point in that this isn't a brake pad issue nor is it due to excessive braking.this is a problem with the abs system which is covered.no car (under normal driving conditions) should have to replace brakes and rotors twice in 26,000 miles.the hot spots on the rotors concerns me since a brake fire could result endangering lives.
As i was trying to turn into my office the power steering quit working and i about got rear ended.next time i was making a turn into a side road and same thing and i could not get out the maxim road quick enough if someone was coming i would have been t-boned. The following time i was turning out of my driveway and same thing if some one was coming it would not have been good because i live in a curve.next time making turn onto main road luckily no one was coming again.last incident to date turning in my sitters driveway and ran off of her driveway because it quit working.the fluid has been checked so i know that is not the issue.it is scary issue for my family and i.
For about a month now, our power steering seems to be tightening up when steering a tight radius like turning a sharp corner or pulling into a parking space.it is very frequent occurring every day now.i have 3 kids i drive daily to multiple locations and am worried about my and their safety.if i was driving at a high speed and had to swerve to avoid something in my path this would make me very nervous.i have read many blogs about this issue and gm had better take this into serious consideration for a world-wide recall.i cannot believe for the price of this vehicle the amount of issues it has.very very disappointed in this car.
While driving at very low speed--usually when preparing to park or turning at very low speed, the power assist goes out completely, and to complete turn it is very difficult and much worse than the "old fashion" manual steering systems.no indication that such failure is going to happen and failure is very unexpected.no failure at speeds above less than 5 miles per hour.
Power steering fails and the wheel is hard to steer to the left or right.it continues to get worse and worse. In addition, as we were driving down the street at about 30 mph and all of the electrical went out in the vehicle.we stopped the vehicle, restarted it, and the problem went away.
Power steering went out while driving down the road (city street) in my 2009 buick enclave. Took it to the shop, and they reported that i need to replace the rack and pinion and it is a common flaw in this type of vehicle.
I was stopped on the street waiting to pull in my drive way as traffic passed.i attempted to turn expecting to pull in as normal but steering wheel locked up and missed driveway.to avoid traffic accelerated into yard due to steering not working as anticipated. Steering returned to normal intermittently.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the power steering failed. The contact stated that he had to increase the amount of effort in order to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
The power steering goes in and out while using it. Starting to see on line that this is a very common issue with the make and model. It usually goes out when turning at a high rate of speed or when your parking.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While driving at low speeds, the power steering failed and it became difficult to turn the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed and was informed that the power assist mechanism failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
While wife was driving her buick enclave with the kids the power steering pump failed and she narrowly averted being in an accident while trying to turn on an intersection. She was unable to maneuver the vehicle after the pump failed. Vehicle was taken to the dealership and it was confirmed that the pump was indeed bad. The dealer also stated that the need to keep the pump in stock because of the amount of failures they see on the buicks and also the chevy traverse. A search on the internet revealed hundreds of complaints of people losing power steering on the chevys and buick models with nothing being done by gm to remedy the situation. Losing the ability to steer a vehicle without any warning is a fatally or serious accident waiting to happen(if not already). Something needs done to have these known faulty parts recalled or a fix in place. Other buick enclave owners as well as the dealership have stated that replacing the pump does not permanently fix the problem but only delays the problem until it occurs again. Hopefully my wife and kids will stay out of harms way when it happens again. Please press gm for a fix to this problem before someone is injured.
Steering went out without warning.items necessary to correct problem are replacement of power steering and gears.gm does not cover under power train warranty.by simply viewing edmunds.com you will see that this problem has affected multiple years and multiple consumers.the issue is an obvious design problem for buick and should be recalled and fixed.
Car with 51,187 miles had to have steering gear replaced and flush and bleed system.owner heard a whine in in the power steering when turning.at a cost of 1,193.76 + tax.never heard of such a thing with that few miles on a vehicle.
I brought my vehicle last november of 2017 and for the last couple of months i have had a problem with my steering it locks up when trying to pull into a parking space or just simply turning a corner it takes a lot of strength to turn this wheel and also other driver's seem to think i'm holding traffic up because i can't turn the wheel also when backing up into traffic the wheel locks up it doesn't happen all the time but i almost hit another vehicle because the wheel locked up i'm afraid to drive the car on the highway for fear it may lock up going straight is fine only when turning backing up and no parallel parking can be done at all, i would not be able to get out at all.
Car became almost impossible to steer when doing slow turns or in a parking lot. The dealer said it was the power steering pump. It was replaced along with all the other parts and supplies needed. After that it seemed to work okay.
Power steering locks up at speeds under 20 mph. Started around 54000 miles and have gotten increasing worse just. Extremely hazardous to us and everyone on the road . !
My vehicle has experienced the exact same as numerous complaints for this model and year.at low speeds, the power steering will intermittently fail.just as everyone else, i am told i need a new steering gear, power steering pump, and alignment.this is a safety issue.recently when trying to pull out from a gas station, the power steering failed and it was very difficult to continue turning into near lane without being pulled into the farther lane with oncoming traffic.if this would have been a daughter, i cannot imagine what would have happened (pull into oncoming traffic for a head on collision and possible death).further, to demonstrate buick and gm are fully aware of this problem, when i had it investigated at the local buick dealer, the service department told me that gm changed the power steering pump after that model year because the "7-van pump" installed does not give a great amount of flow of fluid, and it is now replaced with a 12-vane pump.he probably wasn't supposed to tell me that.buick and gm offer absolutely no assistance.it is one thing if there was something wrong with an amenity or something.but a safety issue should be recalled or assistance given.again, there are numerous complaints of exactly the same issue.is it going to take someone pulling out and being pulled into oncoming traffic before gm does the right thing?will an innocent person have to die before the proper action is taken?very upset with the lack of interest from gm and buick for the sole purpose of "saving a buck".where is the integrity?
I was driving and attempted to make a turn, the power steering failed and i almost crashed into another vehicle, with other traffic coming toward me around 45 mph. Over the past couple weeks, the power steering intermittently failed and took significant effort to turn. This is a used vehicle so i am unsure of the previous frequency of occurrence. I took the vehicle to the buick dealership who found the steering gear was at fault and had to replace it at a cost of $900. Upon researching the cause, i have found that this is a common occurrence with this and other gm products. I am documenting this to assist the bureau in determining that this is a very serious safety issue with this product and should be evaluated and issued a recall.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle lost power steering and became difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 124,180.
My 2009 buick enclave started out with a feeling in the steering when turning to the limits either left or right which was checked out by the dealership as being nothing.then the power steering pump started making noises which was determined by the dealership as something the occurs in this type of pump but is not a safety issue.then the noise became louder and loss of power steering when the engine is initially started and at lower speeds ie in a parking lot.now there feels like a detent in the steering at the straight foreword position and it is noticeable when turning (on the highway) and takes some strength and awareness to overcome the problem.the dealer advises that there is no recall and the car is no longer covered on warranty.
2009 buick enclave 80k miles - power steering intermittently fails, predominately at low speeds and sharper turns, with no warning.
The power steering on my 2009 buick enclave intermittently (3-4 times per day) locks up preventing me from turning the wheel. After an incident, the power steering seems to re-engage.however, there have been multiple close calls when i have not been able to turn quickly.from the buick/gm message boards, this seems to be a very common problem with little to no action from buick/gm.
I have already had the steering rack replaced previously... Now, today, the steering pump is failing and needs to be replaced... This is a safety issue... I have notice a number of other enclave owners experiencing this problem.there should be a recall on this item.
The power steering gives out when the car is travelling at slow speeds.it basically seizes up mid turn and needs an incredible amount of power to turn the wheel.this has been happening since about the 70,000 mile mark
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. When the steering wheel was turned to the left or right, there was an abnormal noise coming from the steering column. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000. The vin was unavailable.
Today i had to replace the rack and pinion on my car. This morning i went to make a left hand turn from a complete stop into gas station and the steering locked up. I lost all control of the car for a few seconds as oncoming traffic was approaching. A similar incident happened a few weeks ago while i had my 1 and 5 year old in the car. I was circling around a building to the left. The steering seemed to lock up and pull right..at the same time the engine revved up. I hit the brakes to avert going down a steep decline. I immediately took the car to my mechanic and they found a leak from the rack and pinion. I started researching this and discovered it seems to be acommon repair.
Car lost power steering at low speed when making turns.
The steering wheel started to make a rubbing, squeaking sound upon turning left or right at low speeds. By the next day, i had lost power steering completely at low speeds. I went to make a turn, thinking i had power steering and almost got in an accident because i was unable to turn the car as quickly as usual. It was so scary! i took the car to the dealer who has had it in the shop the last four days. They are replacing the entire steering column. I hope that will solve the problem, but after reading tons of complaints online at buick enclave forums, i fear that this issue is widespread and is an on-going problem, no matter how many "fixes" at the dealership.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While driving approximately 20 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the steering wheel. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
This problem arises at multiple times daily and it has happened ever since the date of purchase. When you turn usually at slower speeds the steering wheel will become almost impossible to turn at your designated target. In my opinion and it seems to be a common factor with this specific gm/buick model that out of all the recalls the steering was the biggest concern mentioned but it has not been recalled along with the other issues from this vehicle. I purchased the 2009 buick enclave because i trusted gm vehicles and i had my third child on the way so my first choice was a gm vehicle. Presently, my mind and trust has changed about gm vehicles because it seems that the manufacturer is ignoring this huge issue that numerous consumers have filed complaints on. Since my daughter has been born i refuse to put her in that vehicle because of such fear that we will have an accident because of one of the many issues going on with my 09 buick enclave. This is very upsetting since myself like many that have purchased this vehicle thought of the purchase as an investment or a new fresh step in life. But now it has turned out to be a huge disappointment and added stress to my families life including a danger to not just us but others.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While having an in-house manufacturer recall repair performed on the vehicle for the replacement of the power steering pump, the local dealer (walker automotive, 1616 macarthur drive, alexandria, la 71301) informed the contact that the steering rack and pinion failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed thatboth failures had to be repaired at the same time. The vehicle was not repaired due to the expensive cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The recall details were not provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,128.
September 11, 2014 - power steering failed out of no-where while making a left hand turn into a parking lot. Difficult to move car into the parking spot.after approximately 90 minutes of being parked power steering was working fine. October 1st, 2014 while driving on a major highway the antilock brake system (abs) warning light on, stabilitrak indicator light on/service stabilitrak message displayed in dic.since we were on the highway we continued driving until we got to our location and parked the car.approximately 2 hours later we started the car and the warning lights were off.we then proceeded to drive home and less than amile down the road the power steering failed again as we were making a left hand turn.this time it''s not resolving itself.car is not drivable..
Purchased on 05-25-2013 as a replacement vehicle for a 2004 nissan xterra. Noticed when turning into parking space or driveway that power steering suddenly turned into manual steering and was difficult to turn. Took vehicle in for an unrelated problem( dvd stuck in player) and ask them to check power steering. ? maybe low fluid?no problem found. Did some online research only to find this has been a common problem years 2008 to 2010 usually resulting in replacement of pump and rack and pinion.called dealership and reported problem, they are now ordering a steering pump to see if it will fix problem.i have only had the car 3 days and driven 200 miles. Also found that them problem includes gm acadia and chevy traverse.
I have already issued a complaint regarding this issue and continue to have issues with not being able to turn the vehicle in traffic. There have been over 60 complaints filed with the nhtsa regarding steering failure of this vehicle and similar platforms while in traffic. Gm has already been shown to fail to correct safety issues despite having knowledge of such (hence the current significant media coverage). There is a class action suit against gm in relation to this issue (the judge so far has ruled against gm to have the suit dismissed giving validity to the issue). I kindly request nhtsa re-evaluate this issue and initiate an investigation. I apologize for using this section to inquire but did not locate any other means of inquiry.
Hard to turn.my wife almost hit by a tractor trailer.appears to be a common problem with most enclaves.
I have had problems with this vehicle since i purchased it in jan 2015, this is one of several things that have gone wrong and make this vehicle extremely dangerous to drive, when steering this vehicle whether slowly into a parking spot or on a turn, the steering locks up on you and becomes extremely difficult to turn, also i have had problems with the transmission, often when trying to speed up to get on highway, it pulls back or the rpms reave really high and the car doesn't go forward. Also once you put the car in park and take your foot off the brake the car actually rolls several inches and bobs back an forth, this actually knocked my child down as she was getting out of car and she hit her head on the concrete. When telling the dealer of these issues their answer is well unless we can get the car to do these things we have no idea what your are talking about and can't fix it. Meanwhile when i looked for other complaints these same complaints came up by several consumers.
Vehicle steering wheel becomes very tight/ difficult to turn at times while turning, parking & reversing.
We intermittently lose power steering at low speeds.so far we have not hit anything, but have come close at intersections, in parking lots, and in driveways.i am not sure when it first happened.maybe about a year ago.at the beginning, it was once in a while.now just about every trip we have an incident.power steering reservoir is full and pump appears to be working properly. When i told the dealer of the issue i am having, they recommended changing the pump and gear at an approximate cost of $2,000.as an engineer, i found it hard to believe that both the pump and gear needs replacing.i did some research online and found that many people with same issue who did change pump and gear still had the same issue.further research leads me to believe that the power steering system has a design is defect that needs to be addressed by national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa).the enclave and other gm vehicles have a variable effort steering (ves) system that varies the amount of effort to steer the vehicle.apparently the steering gear valve solenoid can stick causing lose of steering with no warning.i recommend that nhtsa requires gm to either replace ves system with a highly reliable design or disable the system to reduce possibility of having an accident due to power steering failure.nhtsa is welcome to use my vehicle to analyze the issue.
The key gets stuck in the ignition in the direction of the car being on and wont turn backwards so you cant turn vehicle off.
Recently when driving at low speeds & making right or left turns my steering seems to tighten up. At first the was just occasionally but now more frequent. It's almost as it totally locks for a moment or two. I have a couple occasions when turning i had no control, most recently it happened when going around a round about, it locked up wouldn't turn anymore & i ended up going in another lane, slamming on my breaks. I was very close to hitting other cars.
Loss of power steering at low speeds.initially occurred occasionally, but frequency has increased to the point where it now occurs almost daily.prior to steering failure, i did notice a funny sound when the steering wheel was turned to far right or left. At first i thought this was just my car, but it would appear that it is a pretty widespread issue judging by the number of complaints lodged, which i am sure represent just a fraction of the owners who have experienced this issue.given the serious safety issue involved, i am very surprised there has not been a recall since gm seems to be issuing recalls for much less serious issues.
I have a2009 buick enclave its start have a intermitent loss of power steering, when at lower speeds and try to turn left or right. Last weeks this been happen every day, sometimes its make a lot noise and get check engine code p0008. Then check engine goes off after couple hours.
I was driving with my family on vacation in the mountains and the vehicles steering began to lock up in every turn. We almost hit multiple people. The vehicle drove fine in a straight line it's only when cornering or turning. Took it to a dealer to ask of they have ever heard of this problem because i read numerous incidents online of people having the same issue. Every dealer told me they haven't heard of a steering problem with the enclave. I really find this hard to believe with all of the post online. They want to replace the entire steering rack at a ridiculous price. I do not believe that the issue they are only guessing! there have multiple occurrences since and very close calls. This vehicle will have to be parked until we get some help with this issue!!!! please help!!!
Intermittent, complete failure of power steering / steering assist at low speeds, e.g. When braking at a left turn or when parking, resulting in difficulty controlling the direction of the vehicle.
My power steering, in my 2009 buick enclave, has caused me problems for almost two years.the power steering has made weird (and loud) noises, when doing slow speed turns.there always seemed to be resistance when turns are made (especially if a slow, sharp turn is needed), above the norm.finally, today, the entire power steering/rack pinion drive went out.i almost got into an accident, when trying to turn left out of an intersection today.it now requires a huge effort to turn the wheel and the car is not safe to drive.
At low speeds the power steering fails intermittently causing severe difficulty maneuvering near parked cars or pedestrians.
I was slowing down to make a right turn into my parents drive when the power steering failed (felt like it was locking up).at the time i was pulling a small trailer so i had to pass up the driveway to keep from getting into an accident. I turned around again and everything seemed fine.later that day it happened again and then it was 6 weeks before it happened again.i called my service advisor who said there may be air in the line. I had just serviced my car.the symptoms continued off and on for several months off and on...and i finally had the rack and pinion replaced on june 14, 2012 as well as the power steering pump.i am very concerned there may be other similar vehicles with similar issues that may cause a serious or even fatal accident.
Issue: car makes loud screeching noise, loss of power steering, engine fan constantly running and car a/c heats on one side and cools on the other.resolution: dealership located leaking gear and pump damaged which caused noise.replaced power steering gear and power steering pump.flushed power steering system and evac and recharge a/c system.issue #6
As i was driving the power steering was randomly going out for just a moment so i checked my power steering fluid and it was fine.the next time i drove it when i went to make a turn the power steering completely stopped working and i almost ran into another car.very scary with 4 children in the car!took it to 2 mechanics that i trust and they were both shocked that the steering rack was loose.both said that it was something they almost never see,it was not something i could have done to make that happen and they were shocked to see that it was a problem.both told me to look into a recall for it since it was a major safety issue and problem that is not a normal wear and tear.i check my vin number and there are no recalls but i do see on multiple message boards that this is a big problem for 2009 buick enclaves with 80,000 miles.
My vehicle is extremely hard to steer at low rates of speed. It is almost as if the power steering goes out. I was almost in a collision because i was unable to maneuver the car quickly. Thankfully, i was able to get out of the way. I had my children in the car. This issue appears to be frequent and corrected in later buick enclave models. This issue is a safety hazard that gm needs to investigate. This faulty power steering pump needs to be recalled immediately.
I was coming up to turn into my driveway and lost power steering. This condition about led me to hit another car. At higher rpms the power steering comes back but at an idle or just above it requires great effort to turn the vehicle.
At slow speeds the power steering goes out.steering is almost locked in place making it nearly impossible to steer.
First noticed problem 5 months after purchase in october 2012. Turning into parking lot, left or right at a stop light, steering wheel locks up.steering rack replaced and problem is still not fixed. Nothing kicking out code with diagnostics and fluids are fine.
When making a right turn my steering wheel locked up and i could barely make the turn.this happens randomly and is becoming more frequent.this now happens when i turn right or left, but it still is very random.i always have children with me and one of them has just received their driver's permit.i do not feel that it is safe for my new driver to practice with this vehicle....even though it is only 5 years old.i love this car but there have already been several recalls dealing with airbags and seatbelts and now the should be one dealing with this power steering issue.clearly this is not an isolated occurrence and there are numerous other owners dealing with the same problems.this issue is an accident waiting to happen.not knowing if you will be able to make a turn when there are pedestrians and other traffic in the mix is not safe!buick...you need to get this fixed!!!!!one angry, unhappy consumer!
Steering locks up at low speeds. It happens when turning a corner at low speeds and its very hard to turn almost cause me an accident on 08/23/15 with all my family on board.
Power steering intermittently fails when turning.very dangerous when crossing traffic during a left turn, or when maneuvering around pedestrians in parking lots.
While turning (both left and right) at low speeds the vehicle randomly loses power steering control and becomes very difficult to complete the turn. Completing the turns becomes so difficult, my wife has to stop the vehicle forward motion and back up, or when crossing traffic, has to continue in a straight path from where control was lost and hope she can make it across to avoid a wreck. Times of occurrence are at random when making turns across traffic from low speeds, turning in parking lots and any other time low speed turns are required. Frequency seems to be increasing as time goes on.
The vehicle (2009 buick enclave) was being serviced at a gm dealer for investigation of a noise we have heard while driving the car.the mechanics determined that the noise was due to the steering mechanism which was beginning to fail and needed to be replaced to avoid potential loss of steering.
When turning the vehicle to the left at a low speed, the power steering stopped functioning. The steering gear box was replaced, and functionality improved slightly for about a month. Mileage at the time was about 90,000. After a month, the issue returned. In addition to the power steering failure when turning left at low speeds, the vehicle started making a grinding noise near the front left of the vehicle, and the vehicle engine would cut in and out intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the steering rack was found to be the issue. The mileage at the time of this issue was about 107,000. Between the 90,000 mile issue and 107,000 mile issue, the power steering would cut in and out unexpectedly, and almost caused several accidents. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership once, and an independent mechanic three times since the vehicle was purchased just two years prior. Gm should recall the steering systems.
Purchased june 2009.coolant level has never stayed at full level.after adding coolant it eventually drops in level.lately, having problems with the power steering.sometimes it becomes very difficult to turn wheel.current mileage is 89,000.
I bought my enclave brand new. I now have 73000 miles on it.we took the car in because it was becoming very hard for me to turn the wheel and i could have been in an accident because of this.the dealership told us that the power steering pump and the power steering rack & pinion had to be replaced! what??!! i had never heard of anyone that i know of having this kind of major issue with their car at 73000 miles.we did some research and found that there have been several other buick owners with this same issue with fewer miles on their car.this is a safety issue that buick needs to research and resolve. My other safety problem is the power liftgate.if your car is parked on a hill, the power liftgate will drop on top of you with no warning.the liftgate struts dont work when your car is parked on a slope.
Power steering fails intermittently in parking lots and at slow speeds.am almost unable to turn the steering wheel at all, then it "gives" causing the car to jerk.
Periodically after backing out of a parking spot and put in drive have extremely hard time turning the wheel to get car to turn. Example would be if you are in the car key on engine not running and you try to turn the wheel and it doesnt want to move. Very scary and dangerous.
At speeds between 25 and 45 mph, the power steering fails and the wheel is hard to steer to the left or right.the problem was intermittent; however, the problem is progressively getting worse.on one occasion, i attempted the make a right-hand turn at an intersection and almost hit a car to my left.after that incident, i brought the vehicle to a certified dealer and was told the power-steering gear and pump need to be replaced at a cost of approx. $3,000.additionally, the condition did not qualify for warranty work.i continue to drive the vehicle because i have no choice at this time, but i have to be cautious at every turn and strong-arm the steering on occasion.not bad for a $45,000 vehicle!thanks buick!
The power steering failed while making a turn.it became very difficult to turn the wheel.the problem has occurred three times since, all when turning and at low speed.there is no noise associated with the issue.i am greatly concerned that the failure will cause an accident.gm needs to issue a recall & repair these issue at no cost to the customer.
While trying to execute a u-turn, the power steering failed.oncoming traffic was able to swerve around me or this would have resulted in a collision. The power steering often fails when attempting to turn while going slowly. This is a serious problem and safety concern.
Dealer is telling me the power steering pump and the rack and pinion steering are leaking and need replaced.estimate is $1754.i just started noticing the steering whining in the past week or so.warranty ended on the steering at 90,000.from the amount of complaints i see online, it appears something needs to be done about this problem.gm needs to issue a recall.
The power steering loses power when making a turn.the steering still works just with no power assist.this is extremely scary as the wheel suddenly pulls out of your hand unless you are gripping very tightly with both hands.the power steering can then return just as suddenly.the only good thing is that it seems to only happen at lower speeds so while i may hit another car while pulling into a parking space i probably won't kill myself or some other driver while driving at speed.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that while sitting at a complete stop, smoke emitted into the cabin from under the hood. The engine compartment then became engulfed in flames. The fire department was called to the scene and the vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where it was discovered that the power steering components had failed and allowed fluid to leak onto the manifold. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
My steering continues to lock up when driving. Making turns steering gets tight. I have had almost had an accident due to this safety issue.at this point i am concerned for my safety and children when driving. There seems to be alot of issues and complaints regarding a replacement steering gear/rack pinion and leaking fluid. At one point do gm think about the safety of their customers. This repair cost is $1709.04. On top of other repairs i just paid $1812.44 to fix other issues that i can somewhat understand but the steering gear and rack pinion is definitely an issue of concern to all families and can definitely loose their life. Every day i get in my vehicle my concern is will my family loose their life if my steering lock up or i cant avoid an accident due to the issue.
After highway driving for a couple hours, i exited onto the off ramp and stopped at the intersection.when my time came to turn, the steering wheel would not move.i was out in the middle of traffic, and almost was hit by oncoming traffic.i had to brute force the steering wheel to get it to move while vehicle moving.while vehicle was moving at city speeds (20-40mph) i was able to steer.later that day the steering seemed to work again, but was noisy and made scraping sounds at the ends of travel.recently the problem returned again, where there is no assist in steering at stopped position (unless i rev the engine up to 2000rpm), and when i am driving the steering assist seems to be back.i am extremely concerned that this is a safety issue and will eventually cause a serious accident.from the other complaints it sounds like the complete steering system is at fault, and in some cases after repair this can happen again.what is being done to remedy this?the complaints go back to 2010....
The steering will bind up and almost lock up resulting in a very difficult turn.this is a major safety issue as if the vehicle will not turn there could easily be a crash.this "steering lock up" issue seems to happen while turning into an entrance, or parking lot or turn signal or onto another road.there are no issues while driving but having a vehicle lock up while trying to turn is a problem.this safety issue not only affects the driver and passengers but it also affects the safety of the general public.this vehicle has been in the buick shop 3 times for this issue-1st time i was told it was the power steering fluid, but that didn't fix it.the second time i was told it was a defective water pump leaking onto the drive belt but that didn't fix it.the 3rd time i was told that they could not find the issue but they would file a claim.well, the issue still exists and i have emailed buick customer service with no response but this is a major safety issue that must be resolved!
The steering began making strange noises intermittently soon after we bought it.we didn't know if it was just something that would go away, but other than slight noises, it was just a small distraction.soon, it became harder and harder to steer at times, and the noises have increased.now, we sometimes are scared we will not be able to turn the wheel effectively at the necessary times, and my wife has had it lock up on her.we are scared for our safety.in looking online, it is clear that this is a manufacturer defect.we have taken it to the gm chevrolet dealership, but they can't really fix it because there is no "recall" on it, and we are out of the warranty period.however, had we taken it initially, we would not have known that the initial problem would get worse and worse, but it was there all along.
I own a 2009 buick enclave that started experiencing intermittent steering lock-up issues at approximately 55,000 miles. The steering would intermittently 'lock-up' especially at speeds below 35 mph without warning, the problem became much worse over time.we frequently travel to the nc mountains where there are many 2 lane curvy roads going up/down the mountains, the problem was especially noticeable when traveling in the nc mountains.a vehicle having the steering 'lock-up' is a definite safety issue.i had the vehicle repaired by the dealership when it reached 68,295 miles for $2186.50 due to safety concerns of harming one of my children or wife should a wreck occur due to not being able to steer the vehicle.the repairs consisted of replacing the defective 'steering gear' as well as the power steering pump due to metal shavings from the disintegrating steering gear getting into the power steering pump.in searching encvlaveforum.net many users complained of the same issue with vehicles in the lambda family (enclave, traverse, acadia).a recall should be issued for this defect.
On january 2, 2014, my wife noticed that her car had a steering issue when turning.at low speeds, the steering becomes hard to turn, as if it was binding.i was informed by a mechanic that most likely it was the rack and pinion.i had that replaced, but still the issue exists.another auto tech currently is investigating the same issue and believes and believes it is the electronic brake control module, which tells the car to energize a solenoid that assists in steering at slow speeds.this is an issue, for my car does not have a huge amount of miles.what happens if my wife is unable to steer out of the way of a driver who is coming close to hitting her?and she is unable to do so?she might get hurt or even killed.somebody is going to get sued...either the dealership where i bought the car, or gm itself for knowing about this issue, but refuses to recall the cars.my question is...how many people have to complain, hurt, or killed, because gm refuses to fix this issue?and from what i seen online, there are tons of complaints about this steering issue!where are the bureaucrats who are in charge of transportation?this is not an isolated issue.it is nation wide.i plan on asking my local papers and news organizations about this issue and see if they can do a story about this and get consumers informed about gm products.maybe gm will issue a recall when it hits them in their profits.
Steering locks up periodically in motion at slow speed when making a turn on highway also from a dead stop when turning leaving a intersection.arm strong power steering meaning very hard to turn.
At parking lot speeds when you try to turn into a barking lot space the power steering locks up it takes a lot of strength to turn it any further. I can't let my wife drive it any more because she could not turn it.i am waiting for this to happen at higher speeds.from what i see on the internet i am not the only one that is having this problem.i think this should be added to the rest of the recalls that gm has if this would happen at higher speeds it could be a real problem.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While driving 15 mph and turning in either direction, the steering wheel would become very difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who added power steering fluid, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 110,000..updated 11/03/14 the power steering pump and pinion were replaced. Also, it was discovered the pulley seized on the shaft. Updated 11/07/14
While in motion and braking to turn right or left, my power steering completely goes out. The steering wheel becomes very difficult to turn causing me to almost hit another vehicle as the turning radius had become much more larger than i am used to. The power steering does not seem to be impacted while going 15 mph or higher, it is only while applying brakes and slowing down and turning, right or left. I have been told by an auto shop that loss of power steering is a common problem for gm vehicles between 2009 - 2011 and that even a special coverage adjustment was issued, not a recall though. The special coverage was issued for cars up to 150,000 or 10 years after car was issued for service/sold. Ten years in my case was in february 2019. I called a gm dealer to ask for help and was told i'm out of luck because the 10 years had passed. I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle and purchased it used in december 2014. I never received letters or notice from gm of this special coverage. Furthermore, i have repeatedly taken my car in for service to this same dealership over the 5+ years of ownership and never once did the gm dealer notify me of the special coverage. At least 2 times, i took my car in for steering issues.
When at low speeds, in a parking lot, the power steering goes out sometimes. When we are trying to park in a parking space, it is very difficult, because the power steering almost always fails. This is a serious safety concern to me. One of these days it is going to cause us to hit another vehicle or worse, a person. I have not took it to a shop. I have researched the issue and it seems to be a very common problem. My enclave has 125,000 miles on it, we bought it a little over a year ago and has had this issue since we bought it.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 10 mph, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering and the steering gear hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,448.
It was hard to steer the car and to turn it was very difficulty to do.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the power steering failed without warning. The contact stated that he had to increase the amount of effort in order to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 84,000.
I brought my car into the dealership in late 2012 for a sound that it was making when i turned my steering wheel. They told me it was "an air bubble in the power steering line" the sound never went away and only got worse- i brought it back into the shop this week- 11/13/13- not the dealership- and i am not being told that my power steering is going out and it has been leaking fluid and damaged my rack and pinion. Clearly there are numerous other customers with this same issue and people have had their power steering fail on them while driving- this is a huge safety issue and in my opinion due to the rate of occurrence should be addressed by the manufacturer.
In the last 2 months, i have had multiple problems with the power steering tightening and locking up, narrowly avoiding running off the road or into another vehicle several times.when i took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic, they declared that the power steering rack had malfunctioned and that there were metal shavings in the power steering pump.both the power steering rack and pump would need to be replaced.it was also determined that this was not caused by wear and tear.when i researched similar complaints online it appears that this is a recurring problem with the 2008 and 2009 buick enclaves due to faulty equipment by gm.i am very concerned that this make result serious accidents and request the nhtsa to look into this matter.
My 2009 buick enclave has intermittent loss of power steering, mainly at lower speeds to make turns. This is a very dangerous situation. When this occurs, it takes a lot of strength for me to turn my vehicle. I have read numerous complaints of the same problems of other enclave owners and many different attempts to repair without success. I also came across a web site that states there is a class action lawsuit against gm for said problem. This is such a safety issue that immediate action is needed today! peoples lives are in danger, inside and outside of these vehicles.this failure happens without warning! your prompt attention is appreciated! recalls need to be ordered asap.
Power steering fails intermittently when maneuvering at low speeds executing tight turns such as going into or out of a parking spot. There are many online vehicle owner complaints and this is clearly an accident waiting to happen that the ntsb needs to get in front of .
At times the steering locks up at low speeds. It happens normally when turning a corner at low speeds. It locks up and very, very hard to turn. I am sure at some point in a congested area it is going to cause me to cause an accident and possibly hurting or killing someone or myself. This is without a question a safety issue that buick needs to own. I have read in many forums that allot of buick owners are experiencing this issue. I have owned alot of vehicles in my life and have never had to pay up to $2200 to fix the steering on a vehicle because of premature failure. I have owned several cars that i have driven over 200,000 miles and never had mechanical steering issues. Buick needs to own this critical safety issue. Respectfully, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
When driving at very low speeds the steering binds and/or locks up causing the vehicle to stop turning. With extra applied strength the steering suddenly turns causing a severe jerk in the car's turning motion. There have been several near misses, telephone pole on 03/07/16, it happens very unexpectedly. Over the past weeks the problem has increased to happening at most every parking lot, slow turn in or red light/stop sign turn. Initially it was only happening when turning as the car was backing up but now it's a constant issue.
My husband went to make a right hand turn and when he turned he lost power steering and the abs light, traction control icon, brake light and "service all wheel drive" all came on at the same time. My dash looks like a christmas tree.
At low speed the steering will not function correctly. I was going thru parking garage and as i turned the steering would not respond. This is now occurring at low speeds and steering locks up.it is ok at above 10mph.
We have a 2009 buick enclave with the faulty steering at low speed. The steering wheel appears to lock up or turn very hard. In parking lots it is almost impossible to turn by a small woman (almost hit someone walking). Gm will not do anything on this car because it has a branded title, even though there is a special coverage of 10 years or 150000 miles and this 2009 has only 70000 or so. If this was a safety recall instead of a safety campaign they would have to fix it. Once again gm knows of a safety problem and will not do anything until people lose there life and they are forced to by others.
Some times in motioni lose my power stering.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave.the contact was driving approximately 35 mph on normal road conditions; proceeding to a traffic signal.suddenly, there was a vibration noise coming from the power steering system.the driver pulled over to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle.the vehicle was able to resumeoperation.the failure occurred whenever the brakes were depressed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing.the failure was related to the power steering pump which was replaced. The failure mileage was 1,000. The current mileage was 11,000.the consumer stated the vehicle developed a power steering noise and vibration feeling when holding the steering wheel. Gm stated the noise was normal. Updated 04/16/10.
2009 buick enclave cxl. Since 2010 it has leaked water from under the dashboard on the passenger side. This year we have started to notice it more when the heat came and we turned on the ac, the ac stopped working a couple of times and when i would turn my car while driving there would be water coming out from under the dashboard from the passenger side on the floor and the ac would start working again. Finally my husband took down the cover off the blower motor and when he took it down it was filled with water, he cleaned it and the motor started working again but not for long, it didn't even last 3 days and the motor blew out. Now i am without ac.

2009 buick enclave.consumer writes in regards to power liftgate malfunction.the consumer stated the power liftgate malfunctioned and injured her husband in april 2013.the consumer stated her husband planned to remove some items from the vehicle. As she pushed the power button, the liftgate began to open as usual. When it reached the top, her husband started to reach for the items. Without warning, the very heavy liftgate dropped about 18-24 inches, hitting him on the forehead and cutting a perfect v which matched the design of the latch. He was knocked to the ground with blood pouring from the gash in his head. The next day, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the struts were replaced.

When car is in drive, sitting on a hill or incline, the vehicle drifts backwards unless you hold the brake pedal or accel up the incline. The vehicle will not hold on a hill without brake assist.
11/28/2018 i authorized leith buick gmc truck inc to repair cylinder #2 and #4 engine coils and spark plugs. 3/3/2019 #2 cylinder began misfiring. 3/7/2019 replaced the engine coil and found that part did not match my invoice. 4/10/2019 took off #4 and found it did not match my invoice. They charged me for either faulty parts or work they did not do.
While driving my car twice this weekmy vehicle turned off while i was driving.one of the times it cut off at the light while i wasturning.
Rear door liftgate, closes suddenly hard when trying to open at all times.
While operating ,openingthe liftgateand leaning into thestorage(trunk)to remove itemsliftgate made a noise and came down hitting my daughter on her head.liftgate(hatch) will not remain open.dealer diagnosed as struts and power pad need replacement.extended service plan does not cover the struts.dealer also said power steering line leaking and transmission lines(2) leaking due to corrosion.740.00 for repairs.power steering leakage covered by extended service plan.no symptoms of leakage before diagnosis.enclave drove fine.no steering problems
Went to open the trunk and place my daughters softball equipment in the back when all of a sudden the truck came down all by itself and hit me in the head. The suspension rods (i think they are called ) just gave out.
Powersteering goes out or locks up when turning at low speed in either direction.
Pressed button on rear hatch to open.the hatch engaged and went up only to catch and then freefall back down on top of my head leaving me dazed, disoriented and in pain.i hesitate to think what would have happened if i hadnt instinctively put my hand up to catch it or if had been a child there instead of me.the hatch is totally unusable because it will not stay open long enough to put anything in or get anything out.very dangerous!
The transmission and tourch converter shutters and the rpm' accells at. Sometimes it dies. It goes to up in rpm. The car shutters and shakes. Rear hatch will close on its own while your under it.
I received a recall notice regarding my power lift gate. I took it to seelye of south haven in south haven mi. Twice. The first time they said it was working properly. Then on 9/26, they said it was not the prop rod. Which i can tell you the rod moves alot when i manually open my hatch. I can not use my key fab or button to open my hatch. I have to manually open it and shut it. I feel that if my hatch as an issue that is unsafe under any type of recall it should be covered with no expense to me. Seelye's tried to charge me a diagnostic fee also when i thought this was a warranty issue. I love my buick but this is crazy.
Lift gate won't stay up. Hit me on the head when free-falling. Ouch.now i use a broom to prop open the lift gate on my $32k suv. I should have bought a 20 year old used chevy instead. At least it would match the broom!
Car accelerated on it's own during highway speeds. Was traveling on a 2 lane highway in the desert at 70 mph in #1 lane, attempting to pass a semi truck, went to the #2 lane increased speed up to 75, let off gas once i was back in #1 lane and my car was at 5 rpm when typically it's at 2 rpm or less. My car was increasing speed on it's own & the brake had no power. I used my other foot to kick up the gas pedal and i was able to control my speed again. Very scary situation. No warning lights nor codes to indicate problem. Had my cruise control turned off at that time. Contacted buick, explained what happen, they gave me a case ref# and will be towing it to the buick service to have them look at it. I have been in a car when i lost power, but never lost control of the throttle being in full power. Lucky to be alive to tell my story and grateful i didn't kill or hurt anyone on my path. Hoping buick fixes this issue so no one has to be in a dangerous situation.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop sign, the accelerator pedal failed to respond. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to his resident. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
My cat kept going even after i stood on the brakes with my whole weight several times. I then put it in neutral. The motor raced but eventually slowed. This happened several years ago and the dealer blamed it on "floor mats". I burned up my brakes & tired today. It was not "mats". My phone is 858.945.2713 but i cannot get that phone accepted.
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. While driving approximately 70 mph, the rpms began to decrease without warning and the accelerator pedal failed, when depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 133,000.

I was driving on the freeway and the car begin begain to flash across the dash that it was reducing engine power. This now happens ever so often when i'm driving i was wondering is this a re-call matter?
Car shudders and has problems accelerating when gears shifts. Diagnosis=replace bank 1 camshaft actuator worn timing chains, replace all spark plugs and 3 ignition coils again. (performed pfi system dia test. Codes fired p0017 and p0300 stored. Correlation and misfire coes).
The contact owns a 2009 buick enclave. The contact stated she was accelerating to speeds of 45 mph and removed her foot from the pedal yet the vehicle continued to accelerate without warrant. She attempted to apply the brakes but the vehicle would not respond. The engine was shut off and she placed the vehicle into park to avoid crashing into a vehicle ahead of her. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where they were unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated she had experienced the failure at least twice. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 17,500 and the current mileage was 18,000.
Got into a major accident two cars ran into my vehicle and everyone was injured and the air bags did not come on to prevent that. I have insurance and police report that states this.
