The contact owns a 2008 chrysler town and country. While driving approximately 60 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician stated that the orc modular would need to be replaced. The orc modular was removed and a new one was ordered. The vehicle was scheduled for repairs once new orc arrived at the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 38,492.

Spontaneous drivers airbag deployment.

My 2008 chrysler town & country mini van with 35k miles will unexpectedly have the horn go on, front and rear wipers go on, lights flash, washer fluid squirt outin both the front and back window. This has been going on for the past 2 1/2 months. Additionally the remote key does not work to open the doorandthe car will not start start.the only remedy is to pull the fuse or disconnect the battery.this has happened 5 times while the car is not running nad 2 times when the car was running.it has been to the dealer 3 times and they say they cannot find anything wrong.i had them change the clock spring but that did not correct the problem , then had them change the tipm, still waiting to see if that works.either case this is a safty issue!

I have a 2008 chrysler country and town car and from the first day i have had all of the following failure due to the fuse box popping up the fuses and leaving my car withoutpower for the following no turn signal,no window control ,no heat, or air condition no windshield wipers, etc and it never repaired or replaced when i bring it in for service creating a very dangerous situation a recall is warranted.

In july 2010 this incident first occurred where driving with my 3 children in the car at appx. 5-10mph and approaching a stop sign the car stalled. I had no power steering or powerbrakes.the only light lit on the dashboard is the anti-lock braking system.i brought the car to a stop and it immediately restarted. In the fall of 2010 the same incident occurred 2-3 times and always under the same conditions while driving slowly appx. 10mph and approaching an intersection or stop sign. I brought these incidents to the attention of chrysler who said that they could find nothing wrong. In jan./feb. 2011 the stalling began to occur more frequently appx 3-4 and again under the same conditions;while driving slowly and approaching stop sign/driveway etc. Chrsyler again could find nothing. In march 2011 the car stalled while driving on a major road appx. 35 mph and in the middle of a curve. I was able to control car and move to the side of the road and immediately it restarted. Chrysler dealership states at this point that possibly it is my "key chain" that is too heavy for the keyless component.(i have 1 key on it) i remove key and remain incident free for appx. 6 - 8 weeks until today. My 15 year old son who is a permit driver had the incident occur while going down hill at appx. 15 mph. With him behind the wheel and me in the driver seat. We were able to finally stop the car and with me behind the wheel now we restarted the car! this is a serious problem.

2008 chrysler town and country electrical problems 5th time this has happened.horn honking continuously, wiper and fluid going off even when turned off, lights flashing on and off.very unsafe the dealer and chrysler said they could not do anything.i had to remove fuses so the horn would not go off which cleared the codes but i can't drive around the car?this is a big safety issue.the dealer actually said to try and come in with the horn honking like that!!! crazy

In normal neighborhood driving, all dashboard warning lights lit up at the same time, the windshield wipers turned on, the speedometer and tachometer went to zero even though the engine was still running, and most disturbingly, my electric drivers side seat started moving forward and backward while i was attempting to turn and break.it almost caused an accident, but i was lucky.the system reset itself, and the same thing happened again, and again.it was too dangerous to drive.the vehicle was transported to the dealership who said it was a "frayed and chaffing" electrical harness.i had to replace it, even though they said there was nothing that i could have done to avoid the situation.i asked if there was anything i should do differently, and they said no it wasn't my fault.i asked if they should be inspecting anything else to make sure it doesn't happen again and they said that was a one time occurrence in the life of the car.i only have 39,000 miles on my van, and this was a very scary situation.if a less experienced driver was in the van, it could have caused a severe problem.when the driver seat started moving back and forth while i was driving and trying to break, it was disconcerting!

I don't know any events led to the failures.the van is used for family transportation by my wife.its use is limited to roughly 12,000 miles of paved road driving per year.something electrical is wrong.one day it won't start, the next day it starts but all the lights are on, the next day the airbag light is on, the next day the speedometer/tachometer/clock/temperature/fuel gauges don't work.there is no rhyme or reason to what works and when something will fail.it is in a chrysler dealership now for service.they are uncertain, but say it is "most likely" the integrated power module.they also say only a dealer can replace and reprogram the module.i will be certain to save the old parts.

I was driving my 2008 chrysler town and country minivan down the highway when the horn went off continously, the windshield wipers front and back were spraying fluid and going back and forth.the instrument panel was blink on and off.i could not see because of the windshield wipers and the instrument panel was going off and on.i was with my wife and two small children, 3 yrs old and 15 months going down a major interstate.i have to pull over in the highway and remove the fuse for the horn because no matter what i did the horn would not turn off.very scary lucky i was driving and not my wife.

The problem startedwith the windshield wipers doing a few cycles occasionally when making a right turn.we could be driving down the freeway or start from a stop sign.it progressed until many systems:speedometer, and other gauges shut down and come back on, the warning chime sounds.the dealer in elkgrove dodge had on of its service people drive it home and had multiple failures.they have had the car for over a month and have still not found the problem.after reading the other complaints and connecting a few dots, i wonder if there is not a computer processing/programming problem causing these multiple electrical problems.especially after the dealer said there were multiple failures on their diagnostic report, ie multiple module problems and other indicated failures.

We have had multiple electrical problems with the vehicle since we have had it.most have been related to the sliding doors not completely shutting and reopening as if there was something in the way. The dealer can not find anything wrong with the door sensors.the most recent issues have been much worse.one time while driving down the road, all of the dashboard lights started flashing, the key in the ignition alarm started beeping (while driving with the key in), the radio went to 12:00 then reset it back to the correct time. This lasted about 3 minutes, then it was all done and working fine.3 times that we had stopped at traffic lights the car just stalled.but it was able to restart right away.one time the car would not start up at all for a few minutes, then it started on the fifth try.just yesterday, we had to have the van towed, my wife was driving, she stopped at a light and the car stalled but it would not do anything at all. The doors did not unlock, thankfully hers was still unlocked.the hazards would not work, all the interior lights would not turn on.we had it towed thedealer, where it did eventually start.the dealer replaced a module for the electronic key 1 week ago, but the issues have occurred still.

4th time this has happened.i was driving down highway at 65mph when my 2008 chrysler town and country minivan began causing a safety issue.the car horn was blasting continuously, the windshield wipers were moving back and forth and the electronic system was going on and off.i had the electronic component replaced but this is still happening.not sure why there is no recall on this issue very unsafe and dangerous as i was driving with my 2 children 3 year old and 1 year old.

2008 chrysler town and countryradiator defect at 28000 milesrotors and calipers needed to be replaced twice within 15000 miles (from 15k to 30k miles on vehicle).brakes have been done 3 times and are in need of a new set less than 1500 miles since last new set.i damaged the back end of my t+c because the brakes failed to stop; luckily, my children weren't in the car.chrysler is giving the runaround and when i bought the car less than a year ago, they brakes were squeaking like metal on metal and they said the brakes were fine (i had them checked three times within a 3 month period and one of the times my family and i were at the dealership for over 6 hours waiting!)chrysler's complaint department said they would contact me on both phones (cell and home) and i have yet to hear back.

Was told to wait 1 month for critical safety recall that can cause serious injury or death. From recall letter: chrysler is recalling certain model year 2008 chrysler town and country and dodge grand caravan vehicles. These vehicles may experience a water leak at the heating and air conditioner "hvac" drain grommet which can lead to illumination of airbag warning light and a potential inadvertent airbag deployment.i was told after taking my vehicle in that the part is on back order and i'd have to wait about a month to get this done. My concern is that i do hear hissing under thedash and have loss a/c coolant. I am concerned that the airbag may deploy without warning. I felt and feel this should be escalated to get these parts faster in order to avoid an avoidable incident that may unnecessary loss of life. Not only for my family but others with similar vehicles. It didn't seem to matter to the service provider i spoke to this morning. I submit this stating that i tried to address the problem, but chrysler and its representatives did not address the issue.link to article: http://auto-recalls.justia.com/chrysler/town-and-country/2008/10v611000/index.html.

Today my 2008 town & country driver seat belt automatic locking retractors stop working. The seat belt do not return to the original position .all the belt is out from the device and do not retract back. The seat belt is inoperative. I buckle up because i don't want be stop by a police, but in case of an accident is nothing to protect me. I visit efird dealer in florence sc but they want to charge $170 for labor and $109 for the part plus tax. I consider this problem with the seat belt retractors is a safety issue that need be address without any cost to the costumer. I appreciate your assistance in this matter.thanks.

Complaint is on a 2008 chrysler town & country minivan. The brake system is junk. My vehicle has 30,000 miles on it and i am in the process of putting front brakes on for the third time. If you count the brakes that come with the vehicle then it is 4 times. I have also replaced the rear brakes. I have owned vehicles in the past and this is the first time that i had to replace brakes let alone three times within 30,000 miles. The first time being 10,000 miles. I drive my child around in this vehicle and i believe that this is unsafe. If you look this problem up on the internet you would be amazed with the many similar complaints. Something really should be done with chrysler.

Purchased 2008 chrysler town and country in august 2008. Had to replace front brakes at 13,000miles and resurface the rotors. At 24,000 miles took car in for brakes again due to squeaking and shimmying to be told nothing was wrong with them. Problem has persisted. Took the van in again at 25k and was just told that the front rotors and brakes need to be replaced. Those are covered by an extended warranty i paid extra for at the purchase. Dealer told me problem is still there and now the back breaks need to be completely replaced including the rotors. At 25k miles i do not think this should be a problem. I take care of my car and get all of its maintenance done on time. I see that several t&c owners are complaining about the brake issues with these vans and that chrysler has done some form of recall on other vehicles but not the t&c.

I did not drive my 2008 town & country van for 2 months as a result of my foot surgery,2/17/10 to 4/19/10.on the morning of 4/19/10, as i attempted to move my vehicle out of my garage, the vehicle would not move.i further depressed the gas pedal and the vehicle appeared to "break free" and move.it seemed as if the wheels were frozen.as i drove to work, i noticed that when i applied the brakes, the braking was uneven and the brakes were "chattering."the van also took longer to stop.when i got to work, i called my local chrysler dealer and advised them of the problem.they told me that it would not be covered under warranty.the van has 22,500 miles on it. I then took the van to a local repair shop. They showed me that the freezing of my wheels that morning was actually the rear pads rusting to the rotors.i saw the mark on the rotors where they had rusted.it then made the rear rotors uneven causing the chatter.they then showed me that the front pads were very low.they suggested that the rear rotors and pads be changed along with the front pads.the entire job came to $650. To me this is unsafe and no fair.i believe this should not happen to a car with less than 23,000 miles on it.it was obvious to me that this problem had to be corrected immediately.i was not going to pay the dealership to do it because i feared that they would replace the brakes with the same make that had failed.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler town & country. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds and making a turn, she heard a grinding sound on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The problem occurred intermittently but began to happen more frequently as time progressed. The contact planned to take the vehicle to the dealer on august 9, 2010. Prior to the rear braking failure, the contact replaced the front brakes in january 2010 for the same grinding noise. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they could not assist her. The current mileage was approximately 29,100. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

2008 chrysler town & country has an issues with brakes.front pads and rotors resurfaced at 20,000 miles.now 16,000 miles later, the front and back pads and rotors must be replaced.$700.brakes should last much longer which leads me to believe there is some sort of defect in their operation.

While driving 2008 town&country on expressway experienced vibration from rear wheel and began to smell something burning.at this time i immediately slowed the vehicle and took first available exit. Checked rear tires, both ok,smelled strong burning odor coming from rear driver wheel.rim was extremely hot, could see smoke coming from rotor & brake caliper area.brake caliper seemed to be stuck. Had happened on previous instance approx 2months before.on previous instance dealer cleaned brake said could not find anything.this instance dealer claimed corrosion between stainless steel clips and brake pad material caused brakes to seize.i personally asked dealer to inspect parts. Stainless clips were shiny no sign of corrosion between dis-similar metals as dealer stated.dealer stated they have witness this happening very often and admitted component design as defective, however stated chrysler corporate offices advise not to cover under warranty as defect. Dealership replaced brake pads, but i am sure this did not fix the root cause of the issue as there were no signs of corrosion as dealer stated which would cause sticking.also had front brakes wear out at 14k miles with rotors completely worn as well.dealer also admitted defective but stated not covered under warranty.i am mostly concerned with the seizing of the re brake as i feel i have now 2 times been given band-aid solutions by 2 different dealerships and true root cause not established.i am concern for the safety and welfare of my family and other with regards to the seizing brake incidents and feel that expressway speeds with such an event loss of control is possible which could result in a crash.also i have concern that this event could have potential to cause a fire as i have witnessed a burning smell and seen smoke in the area when the event had occurred.i would appreciate if this matter could be properly investigated as chrysler is not giving it the proper attention it deserves.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler town & country. While having the vehicle examined the contact noticed that the front brake pads were worn down to the rotor. The vehicle had not been diagnosedand there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 29000.

2008 town and country brakes need to be replaced at low mileage.

I bought a 2008 chrysler town and country in 9/08. I received a warranty extension regarding the front brakes. Took in to a dealer 8/20/10 was told that there are no front brakes available as there is a national backorder from chrysler but the rear brakes are okay. I called 3 times to inquire on the parts status told not available from chrysler. Went to another dealer who had the brakes but am now told that my rear brakes will not pass nys inspections on 9/28/10. I have exactly 24,171 miles on my car. I was told by the dealer that it was my bad driving habits that caused the rear brake failure and not defective parts although the front brakes are defective and chrysler is extending the warranty out of their commitment to the customer. I have never had a car have rear brake issues especially at 24,000 miles. I had to pay the additional $50 toward the deductible b/c chrysler was out of brakes and i went over the 24,000 threshold while waiting for them to ship. Now i had to pay $267.00 for rear brake pads in a two year old vehicle. I have noticed on the internet that many more people are having this rear brake problem with chrysler as well.

The contact owns a 2009 chrysler town and country. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, both of the side door panels opened suddenly. The contact pulled over and closed the doors. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the doors were repaired. The failure occurred again. The contact also stated that she heard a grinding noise while driving back to the dealer and the transmission fell out of the vehicle onto the ground. The air conditioner failed twice and the front brake pads also fell off. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. The current mileage was approximately 20,000.

The contact owns 2008 chrysler town and country. The contact stated that during routine maintenance, the mechanic mentioned that the front and rear brakes were wearing out rapidly. The mechanic also stated that both the front and rear brakes needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that the failure was caused by the design of the braking system. The inside brake pads exhibited a wear pattern while the outside brake pads looked new. The failure and current mileages were 42500.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler town & country. While driving at approximately 40 mph, the contact heard a loud squeaking and grinding noise from the rear brakes. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the front and rear brakes needed to be replaced at the contacts expense. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a claim; she was awaiting a return call at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 44,000.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler town & country. While driving 30 mph during rainy weather conditions the contact applied the brakes and noticed that they would not engage causing the contact to crash into the rear of a vehicle. No one was injured. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the front rotors and brake pads needed to be replaced. The contact also noticed that when applying the brakes at any speed there was a squeaking sound. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 500 and the current mileage was 20000.

Brakes and rotors continue to fail.replaced both brakes and rotors1/13/09 at 20,000 miles, replaced both brakes and rotors again 10/13/09 at 38,500 miles and now at 50,000 miles the rotors are going again causing a vibration.chrysler refuses to acknowledge a problem when even the dealer recognized it.

Brake failure on 2008 chrysler town and countrywith only 25000 miles on my town and country the brakes started to make noise.when i took it to the repair shop my mechanic informed me that the front brakes and rotors need to be replaced and were barely working.i've never own a vehicle were i had brake issue before 38,000 miles.after looking on line it is obvious this vehicle has a brake issue that the government should drop the hammer on chrysler for.

I have a 2008 chrysler town & country that has severe brake problems.i was told the front brakes are covered under the warranty and there is a known issue with them.( i was sent a letter concerning this by chrysler)the same described problem occurred with the rear brakes.the calipers froze, warping the rotors and braking the pads.i was told by chrysler that the calipers would be covered because of being defective but the damaged caused by this condition would not be covered.the vehicle only has 19,000 miles on it.

2008 chrysler town&countywith less then 20,000 almost all highway driven miles needed brake pads and rotors replaced twice!

I have noticed a grinding noise while driving my vehicle for the past two months.the grinding does not happen all the time, but has become more frequent and louder over the past two months. I brought my vehicle to the local dealership where i purchased it and they told me they could not here what i was talking about when they test drove it.two months later i returned with the vehicle and they informed me that my calipers were bad and that i needed new brake pads and rotors as a result.even though i had brought the vehicle in for them to inspect two months prior, they did not warranty the damage to the brake pads and rotors.this ended up costing just under $500 to fix.

I had to have new brakes twice already. It seemed pretty odd that is was at 18,000 and then again exactly 18k later at 36,000 miles. After reading other complaints i realize i am not imagining this. These brakes were not made to last. For $27k that i paid for this new van with all kinds of bells and whistles, i didn't think the brakes would be the thing that continued to be a problem.

Needed brakes replaced on 2008 town and country at 21, 000 and again at 31,000.was told that this van goes through brakes fast and to be prepared to purchase every 10,000 miles?

Had to replace the front brakes on 2008 chrylser minivan at only 25,000 miles.mechanic said rear brakes were also close to needing replacement.new brakes already squealing after 5,000 miles and brakes seem to overheat quickly, making it more difficult to stop the van.i see on-line that there are hundreds of similar complaints on various chat groups (including edmunds).i think chrysler already has a service bulletin on this - tsb #05-006-08.

The contact owns 2008 chrysler town and country. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph and applied the brakes as the vehicle exhibited an abnormal grinding noise. The vehicle was later taken to the dealer for diagnosis of the failure where the front brake components were replaced. The front and rear brake pads failed shortly following repairs. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer for repairs. The brake pads rotors and calipers were replaced. The failure occurred four additional times. The vehicle continued to make a grinding noise when the brakes were applied. The dealer stated that the noise was normal and the vehicle did not indicate any additional failures. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

The contact owns 2008 chrysler town and country. The contact was driving approximately 70 mph when the contact heard a loud humming noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. When the contact stopped the vehicle, he could smell a burning odor. He stated that the rim of the rear passenger side was abnormally hot. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the rotors and brake pads were replaced. The technician stated that there was only five percent of the brakes left and the rotors were severely rusted. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 22,800.

The contact stated that both sliding doors would become jammed and he would have to remove the battery cable to restart the computer for the doors to close properly.the vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 19,000 and the current mileage was 53,000.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler town & country. The contact stated that in february 2010, the rear brakes on the vehicle locked while driving approximately 25 mph. The dealer replaced the calipers and the brakes functioned normally until they failed again at 4,000 miles. The contact also stated that the front brakes on the vehicle were defective. The rotors were also warped and worn. The dealer advised him that there was a $100 deductible in order to have the vehicle repaired. The vehicle was not repaired when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000. The current mileage was approximately 18,000.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler town and country. The contact stated that when driving at 40 mph, the vehicle vibrated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the front brakes needed to be replaced. The repair was performed at that time. However, the failure occurred again less than four months later with the rear brakes. The vehicle was taken back to the dealership for repair. Extremely premature wear and replacement of front and rear brakesmore than one incident date-starting at 10k.

I own a 2008 chrysler town and country.1) the front brakes needed to be replaced at 20394 miles on the odometer.2) service center reports that due to a known issue across many of their chrysler t&c customers and a technical service bulletin from chrysler the front rotors must be replaced after the first brake job due them not being able to be machined down any thinner.3) the front brakes scratch and squeak while braking at low speeds. Service center reports that this is also a known chrysler issue and that there is a recall in the works to address the replacement of the whole front brake system.would like nhtsa to be informed of the poor brake performance on this model and to "encourage" chrysler to issue the recall soonest.

I own a 2008 town and country van purchased in may of 2008 . The vehicle has 14,317 miles on it and all four brakes ,front and back are gone. Front down to 1% and the rear are metal to metal. Something is wrong.

Brakes are wearing extremely bad, called them the dealership first time i noticed this happened. They told me it is not there concern if it is over 12,000 miles. I bought this used with 18,000 miles and when it got to 20,000 i had trouble. So i replaced the brakes myself since i have been a mechanic for 24 years.now they have worn so bad that they are in the rotors and i have the paper work from the dealership saying it is not safe to drive, notified chrysler and get the run around on this. They will not help me on this. I had to drive home with my kids in this car because they would not repair something that they have admitted that its there fault. Bad brake system on the van. This is a safety item that must be looked into.

Brakes went out on a 2008 chrysler town and country van with only 27,00 0miles. Problem first occurred when the car had less than 20,000 miles.my understanding is that this is not an isolated problem.

2008 chrysler town & country, 26,500 miles.i was driving down the highway and when i parked my vehicle there was smoke coming from the drivers side rear brakes.the brakes had been stuck on for an unknown amount of miles.there was excessive heat and smoke coming from the area which could have led to a possible fire.i took it to the dealer and they told me there was no warranty or recall for this problem.

Bought a 2008 town and country sept 2008 in june 2009 brakes started squeaking badly had chrysler check brakes they has 8,927miles on them and was told they were fine but dust gets in and casues the squeaking. For months got worse and worse embarrissing everytime you stop everyone looks at u cause your squeling so loudly after looking up on internet and finding thousands of complaints about the 2008 brake failure at low milage and having a freind who traded her car in and got a diff car because of such problems i decided to have chrysler check my brakes again april 23,2010 and now my brake pads and rotors in front were bad and needed new replacement i have only 18,000 miles and this should not be happening. I have owned other dodge and chrysler minivans and have never had to replace brakes at such a low milage or deal with constant squeaking.

Brake were squeaking at 16k miles and dealer recommended turning rotors.at 23k miles, owner noticed vehicle shaking when applying brakes.dealer inspection revealed warped rotors and estimated repair cost at $600.owner questioned dealer mechanic about lifespan and was told they are experiencing very short (1/3 of typical) lifespan on this particular model.

1998 town & country brake problem...at less than 12,000 noticeable squeaking of brakes and vibration of steering column when brakes applied...never had this happen so early in a car before...kept complaining...front pads and rotors replaced at approx 22,000 at my cost...at 30,000 squeaking and vibrations started again...at 38,500 rear brakes have seemed to literally "burn out" terrible metallic burning smell from rear driver tire area...tire is fine...rim extremely hot and terrible smell...speeds of approximately 35-55 mph and steering column vibrations are excessive...it is clear chrysler has a major problem...will the nhtsa wait until a crash, fire and/or death occurs before taking this seriously...every chrysler dealership service department knows there is an issue (almost seems like an inside joke), but hide behind chrysler corporate...please make chrysler fix this issue...most minivans on the road carry families and/or children...including mine!

The brakes on our 2008 chrysler town and country van need to be replaced much more often than is typically necessary.usually the pads and rotors need replacing.the front brakes need replacing every 15-18k miles.the van is not driven under harsh conditions as it is primarily driven by my wife to take the kids to school and for her to go to work.

2008 town and country van.rear brakes pads and rotors replaced at 12,000 miles.left rear caliper froze shortly after, smoking and very hot.fire hazard.front brake pads replaced at 14,000 miles. Brakes have major issues, undersized for this vehicle?reports online indicate they need replacing as soon as every 10,000 miles.no longer think that my wife was the problem.can someone force chrysler into recalling this vehicle and replacing with larger braking system?must an entire family with kids perish?now wheel bearings are noisy - many online reports - related to brakes?

The 2008 chrysler town and country minivan we have had begin to shimmy and vibrate up through the steering wheel when braking, especially when slowing down on the parkway. Concerned about the safety of the vehicle, i promptly brought it to my local mechanic. Upon his inspection, the vehicle required both front rotors and pads replaced. The vehicle has less than 10,000 miles on it. How can a 10,000 mile car need new rotors so soon? i hope to take this up with chrysler directly and to be compensated for the expense of this service.

I bought a new 2008 chrysler a year ago.my brakes felt funny and squeaky from day one.as days went by, the brakes were squealing on a regular basis.at 21,000 miles i decided to make an appt. To have them checked.. Before i could get in, i lost my front brakes while driving kids to school.the dealer paid for the parts but i had to pay for the labor.after research, it seems that the 2008 owners are complaining a lot and this has happened many times.does this have to kill someone before it gets made public?this needs to be investigated and taken care of immediately.before there is a death.from what i read, this will happen to me every 20,000 miles and that should not be at all.

2008 chrysler town & country brakepad/rotor damage (requiring complete replacement of all components).

I own a 2008 town & country minivan. Had received a notice that the front brakes may need to be replaced. I took my car into the dealership and they stated that not only were the front brakes pads & calipers were bad but the rear brake pads & calipers were bad as well and had to be replaced as a cost of over $300. For major safety parts as brakes and failing in less than 2 years is very bad workmanship and chrysler should reimburse for the rear brakes as well. The brakes are a continuing bad safety part for chrysler.

2008 chrysler town and country brake squeaking, the car is only 2 years old, also smell burning back brakes near left rear tire, chrysler requires customers to pay to fix brakes, no recall yet despite many consumer complaints read online.

Brake system problem with a 2008 chrysler town and country signature/touring edition.the vehicle has premature break squeal and grinding @ 20,726 miles.received a letter from chrysler stating that listed vehicle 'may' be covered under an extended warranty program.immediately took the vehicle into the nearest dealer (dick scott dodge, plymouth, mi).dealer charged $35.00 to inspect.charged a $100.00 deductible to cover the front brakes and front rotors and charged an additional 120.67 to machine the rear rotors, deglaze the rear pads and lube the rear slides.the total bill was $256.67.continued to research the brake problem and learned that this is and will continue to be an ongoing issue with the vehicle.

I purchased a 2008 town and country in 2008, and since then have changed the brake pads 5 times and rotors 2x.one minute your driving fine, next minute the brakes are grinding and the car begins to shake.i contacted chrysler directly about this issue and to them how i use the van to drive my nine year around and they told me that i had to take up that issue with the dealer.i went to the dealer, and they told me that only chrysler could do something because they were aware of the problem that this vehicle was experiencing.they told me that they were experiencing complaints about the cars brakes on a daily basis.as a result, chrysler sent out a letter to replace the brakes for anyone who owned one at their cost for 1 time only. How about for the life of the car? vehicle is dangerous to drive.

Within 10000 miles of use, my 2008 chrysler town and country started having brake problems.i was told that i needed to have pads and rotors replaced.they were going to charge me full price but i did a little research online and found other complaints of the same problem so i called the service manager and complained.he said they see it all the time and it's not right but they can't do anything about a recall.they are clearly aware of a brake problem and yet they aren't doing anything to resolve the problem, this needs to be addressed.

2008 chrysler town and country touring rear brakes pads and rotors need replacing at 26,000 miles.

Bad brakes on 2008 chrysler town and country rotors warpand brakes ware out within 8,000 miles i had to replace brakes 3 times and cut rotors twice and replaced them twice in 36,000miles of driving. I took it to the dealer to have it checked out and he told me the new vans are heaver than the old vans and they didn't increase the break size and this is causing them to over heat and warp the rotors and ware the brake pads out even under normal driving. There arethousands of complaintsand even brake failures listedon line and to chrysler. I called chrysler and they said they new of the problem andthey don't know if they are going the recall this model to fix this prob. You need to step in and hurry up the recallbeforesomebody gets hurt or killed, not to mention it is very expensive to keep fixing this prob.

This vehicle's brake system is defective and has required 3 brake repairs at under 18,000 miles.we can no longer rely on the vehicle for extended periods of time and do not trust it is a safe vehicle to transport our family in.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler town & country. The contact stated that the brakes have worn prematurely. The brake pads and the rotors were replaced due to wear and tear at 10,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the brakes fail rapidly due to the design and the way they were made. The brakes have been replaced every 10,000 miles. There are no recalls or warranties related to the failure. The failure was repaired at the owners expense. The manufacturer was not contacted regarding the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 13,000.

I took the vehicle to dealership service department on june 16th to diagnose a "howling" noise, which began a few months before as an occasional noise, and was now occurring almost continuously.i said i thought it was coming from the rear brakes.the noise occurred while driving, not while braking.they found nothing wrong with the brakes, and said the noise was due to the wear on the tires.i did not have the tires replaced at the time, and continued to drive it with the noise.during the next few months, i occasionally noticed a burning smell. Also getting very poor mpg; 14.3.i applied and released the emergency brakes while parked, and the noise stopped for a few days. The noise eventually became less frequent, and was almost completely gone, when the brake indicator light came on. Took it back to the dealer service shop on sept 19, 2010. This time, they found that the rear brakes pads were completely worn out; the brakes wereinch worn into the metal. The front brakes also needed to be replaced, and were covered by the extended warranty (less $100 deductible). I filed a complaint with chrysler, and was told they would reimburse cost of replacing back brakes & rotors this time.the dealer did not replace calipers, only "clean/lube caliper slides & apply brake quiet".dealer insists that the calipers were not stuck or causing problems -said if they get stuck, they stay stuck.my brother and i each bought new vehicles in jan 2008; he got a 2008 dodge grand caravan ,and i got a 2008 town & country. He was having the exact same problems.he took his back brakes apart to diagnose the problem.he found the calipers were a new design; the pistons "screw" in & out, rather than the usual clamp & release, or pinch design.the pistons were sometimes not releasing, which caused the brakes to be applied even while the vehicle was being driven for long periods on highway, which caused the noise & bad gas mileage. Chrysler needs to recall/replace caliper design.

2008 chrysler town and country brakes having to be replaced before 20000 miles. When i took my vehicle in, the brakes were grinding and squealing. I was told that i got it to them in time to save the rotors. The repairs still cost in excess of $300. My van was bought to accommodate trips from fort walton beach to st petersburg for my son's doctor appointments and surgery. The van now has approx 33000 miles on it and i'm having to take it back to the shop for the brakes that are already starting to squeal again.

2008 chrysler minivan with 13 thousand miles on it needed full front and rear brakes.just a few months later, at about 20 thousand miles, new front and rear brakes needed. Dealer claims "common" problem with this model year-- brakes wearing out prematurely. Is this car safe to drive? how do we know when the brakes will just die? back in the shop this week for complete brake job number 3 brand new van essentiallywith low miles and easy in town driving history.

2008 chrysler town and country front and rear brakes worn out at 30,000 miles.front rotors worn out at 30000 miles and had to pay $100 deductible to have replaced.paid out of pocket to have rear brakes replaced.all of my other vehicles i have gone over 100,000 miles on rear brakes and 100,000 miles on the rotors.i have never had front brakes that needed to be replaced before 60,000 miles.

Chrysler 2008 town and country van has grinding noise from front bearings. There is a recall k-19 for this problem for vans built from 12/07-02/08. My van built 01/08 but not included in recall, although it has the problem the recall is to repair. Chrysler will not explain why our van is not included in recall.

Are the 1st owner of 08 chrysler t&c.have had a grinding whining noise in the front end since mileage was at @20,000 mls.have had the van looked a numerous times and have been told it was the tires, then the brakes, then a "normal" sound and to just live with it-have fixed each time what they say with the noise still there...while driving it the noise has gotten louder and the steering wheel started to vibrate...now after having it looked at it was found that it was the front wheel bearings....too worried to drive it as the shaking and noises my family comes first.....have taken it in to be replace to find out they were extremely bad!cost was $656 to replace the front wheel bearings!the dealer kept and disposed of the part are we are unable to get it to access the serial number(we tried) i was more worried that the bearings would break while driving and result in the van loosing control with family inside and going in the ditch.chrysler should have fixed it the first time it was in but now as the van has 46000 on they don't want to fix it even though there is a recall out for this problem for vans mfg 12/01/07-02/28/08 and this one was mfg on 11/30/07.

2008 chrysler town and country: faulty valve stems.three of the four valve stems have broken in the past 2 months.they were the originals.i'm expecting the fourth to go anytime now. They all broke when i was unscrewing the cap to check pressure or add air.as soon asi started to twist, the whole thing just came off in my fingers, with the top of the stem still embedded in the plastic cap.had to replace entire tpms because it's all one part.

While driving on a major thoroughfare, i accelerated and then the car would not decelerate when i released my foot from the accelerator. I braked but the car was now revving at about 4,000 rpms without my foot on the gas pedal (but on the brake). I put the car into neutral and coasted to a stop and turned the car off. Tried turning it on again but car still racing. While waiting for help with the car turned off, after a few minutes i heard a pop from the area of the gas pedal. I started the car and it ran normally. Carefully drove home and brought car to dealership the next day.

2008 chrysler town and country walter p edition needed wheel bearings replaced at 40,000 miles.

I found the right-rear valve stem broken, while trying to add air. It appeared to have been weakened by corrosion. The surrounding area of the wheel showed no signs of corrosion. The valve stems on this vehicle are also the tire pressure monitoring sensor (tpms) sensors.upon inspection, i found the other valve stems/sensors in poor condition.after the spare tire was installed, the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repair, under warranty. I asked that they replace the other three sensors, since failure appears imminent. The service writer explained that, while this is a common failure, they cannot replace the part, until it is actually leaking air; because the sensors are expensive.i feel this is significant, potential safety issue, because when the stem/sensors break, there is an almost immediate, total loss of pressure in the affected tire. If the stem/sensor broke while driving, loss of vehicle control could occur.there appears to be quite a bit of discussion related to this problem on chrysler-related internet blogs and forums.also, it appears chrysler knows there is a problem, since newer vehicles have stems/sensors constructed of a more robust material.
