10/8/2008 vehicle airbag warning light.dealer service center replaced a coil spring in driver side airbag.6/22/2009 vehicle airbag warning light.dealer troubleshoot and decided to replace the drivers side airbag5/11/2011 vehicle airbag warning light.dealer diagnosed as issue with passenger side seat occupancy sensor.i decided to get another opinion.airbag warning light remained off for about 60 days after this diagnostic, but no repairs were done.sept 2011 vehicle airbag warning light.diagnosed by an independent mechanic as issue with drivers side airbag (code 01) and passenger side seat occupancy (code 70).2/28/12 vehicle airbag warning light.diagnosed by dealer service center as slip ring issue on the drivers side and seat occupancy sensor on the passenger side.declined repairs as i suspected this was a warranty issue, but dealership disagreed.9/20/12 vehicle airbag warning light.diagnosed by an independent mechanic as a faulty drivers side airbag and a faulty seat occupancy sensor.research has shown me that the seat occupancy sensor in the 2006 version of this vehicle is an issue under recall or notice, while this model year (2005) is not.i also am very concerned about the nagging issues with the drivers side airbag that has been repaired twice and diagnosed differently multiple times.the complaint is in two parts.(1) seat occupancy sensor - should be under recall(2) drivers side airbag on this vehicle - dealer never diagnosed or fixed correctly and is still a safety concern.i am not sure if others with this model year have had similar issues.

I have had issues with every single window. They do not roll up. I repeatedly pay to have these fixed and they continue to be an issue. There is an absolute defect in these windows. I have had an array of vehicles, none of which had half as many issues as this bmw.

Rear brake lights keep going out, in motion, got pulled over by police

Both taillight housing circuit boards shorts out. Burns between housing and adapter . Thus causes a break in the circuit and you don't have any taillights. This is a safety concern and is illegal to go with no taillights.

For a period of about two weeks while driving and using the drivers seat heater my wife experienced excessive heat on the left side of the seat. On the date of the incident while driving she experienced a very painful burning sensation on her left leg and could smell something burning in the vehicle. She shutoff the seat heater and applied a scarf under her leg to stop the burning sensation. Upon notifying the dealer service department she was advised that this was caused by normal wear and tear and that he was currently dealing with another incident so he could give her a quote right away. While at work the next day she was talking with a customer and he said he experienced the same problem but didn't get it repaired because it cost to much to replace the seat.upon taking the vehicle in for service the service employee advised that he had also seen this before and that it was from wear and tear. It should be noted that our insurance covered this except for $50 as the vehicle is a very low mileage vehicle. It has only been driven by my wife who is a small female about 130 lbs. The vehicle is in excellent condition with no wear and tear and is serviced regularly. The vehicle has never been in an accident. I have taken digital photos which i can provide that will show there is no wear or tear on the seat in the burned/melted area. We feel that this is a very dangerous situation that seems to be a reoccurring problem and is being brushed off as "wear and tear". This incident could have resulted in my wife being injured by burning or being distracted while driving and ending up in an accident.

I bought the vehicle in may 2013. On july25, i had just started the car and black smoke began pouring out of the vents. No smoke under the hood. I turned off thevcar and went for help. Sparks and flames started, the drivers curtain airbag deployed, and the alarm went off. We were able to stop the fire with an extinguisher andno one was hurt. I saw another complaint of this type. My car is a total loss. All the electronics are burned out. This should not happen spontaneously!

While i was replacing my angel eyes i noticed that the wire insulation was gone. I could see brown and white wires all in the light housing. Now its just bare copper wire.

Last saturday while driving down the highway our (2005 x5) air conditioner began smoking, especially on the passenger side.we pulled over and within 10 minutes the entire cab was engulfed in flames (no flames under the hood).we were able to get out of the vehicle before the flames erupted.the vehicle is totaled, along with approximately $12,000.00 in personal contents.

Resistance in the electrical contacts on rear brake light is causing my brake light to intermittent stop working.

1: we bought this bmw 2005 x5 in june 2008 and brought it into the dealership in june 08 for routine full electrical and mechanical diagnostic check.upon completion of repairs/diagnostics, which took almost a week, dealership told us that there were no electrical and mechanical issues.within just a few days after receiving delivery of the vehicle after the "clean bill of health" from the dealer, the car completely died.this incident occurred in the morning right before work resulting in logistical, financial, and safety issues.the car had to be jump started and the battery was replaced.in addition, the fuel gauge does not work properly and was brought up multiple times with the dealer without resolution.within a few days the same situation occurred, again resulting in logistical, financial, and safety issues and the battery was replaced.over the next week, we noticed about 16 other electrical and mechanical issues and brought the car back to the same dealership.after receiving the car back from the dealership, we continued to have problems with the car.about 2 months later, the battery had to be replaced again as the car died again.within another month, the car died yet again!again, it was the battery.again, the battery had to be replaced.2: the failure is, amongst multiple other issues, a chronic battery drain.3: last repair, about 2 weeks ago, the tcu unit was replaced, along with the battery.so far, we are on our 5th battery in 4 months in a newer bmw x5!our fuel gauge still does not read full when full and is inaccurate.dealer states that "this is the way all bmws are made".

The wiring harness inside the headlights are loosing the insulation, and there all the bare wires are exposed. This is a high fire hazard, what may cause death of the occupants and others in the traffic. This problem is not just in my vehicle, there are many forums over the internet with the same problem what is not the fault of the owner of the vehicle

I was at a stop sign then accelerated onto a round-a-bout when the vehicle stopped it would not accelerate even though my foot was on the gas pedal and the car was still on. I tried signaling my emergency lights but the whole inside of the dashboard was going on & off not letting me signal anything. I put the vehicle in park & turned off the car. When i tried turning it back on it would just click and all lights would turn on. I waited for 20 min then tried to start it again & it did start but then sounded like it was dying out and eventually would shut off, there wasmore than a half tank of gas in the vehicle.

Bmw x-5 2005heated seats turn instantly burning hot to the touch. Resulting charred black seat underneath leather exterior. This can cause a fire or and individual be burned. Bmw charged $200.00 to verify there is a problem but unwilling to recall. The seat underneath the leather is burned black and lucky is did not start fire.

Bought the my car about 3 months ago, i noticed water leaking from thetop console, i took it back the dealer and they cant find the problem. Its been leaking off and on.a few weeks ago i noticed about an inch of water deposit in the trunk area, some fuse were wet and other electronics from the water dripping goodthing it did not cause a fire.i took it to bmw and they said either i need a new sunroof cassette($5000) or new water drains(($1300) which they claimed was missing on one side, not sure if the car came out of production with one missing water drain. Who would spend that amount of money on some repairs that`s not even guarantee to fix the leak? i`m just concerned that this problem is fire hazard.

The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact also stated that the vehicle began to hesitate to start. I bought this suv last week for my kids to drive after researching and test-driving various makes and models for months:bmw x5 4,4i, mercedes ml430, porsche cayenne, and jeep grand cherokee.the bmw won in the end because i have had several 3-series with 200,000k on it that run like new.the previous owner assured me that there were no problems with this suv and sold it to me in as-is excellent condition.she also assured me that it had been serviced by a bmw dealer with a full inspection on june 13, 2013.i also had it inspected by an indy mechanic.two days after i bought it it started blowing clouds of blue smoke on acceleration, intermittently.i immediately contacted the seller who told me that she had mentioned this to the bmw dealership during the june 13, 2013 inspection, and that they could not detect or isolate the source of the problem but, they told her that it was nothing to worry about.i then contacted the dealership to pull the service records which verify this to be true.upon researching this issue online, i found several technical service bulletins about it (pcv, ccv for the n62 engine and osv for the m54 engine) as well as hundreds of complaints from consumers - everything from blowing smoke to blown engines related to these pressure release valves.how can a dealer not know to check the pressure release valve when there is so much consumer history and technical literature on it??? this just blows my mind!!!i would not have bought this vehicle had i known about its pre-exiting condition because i would have researched it and been scared off by the degree to which people have been affected / hurt by it! this is clearly a design flaw. What will is take for bmw to get its #$&* together and recall vehicles affected by these m54 and n62 engines!

Engine iced up and hydro-locked from condensate.stalled in traffic with slippery roads, in front of a logging truck.very narrowly escaped collision.found many incidents of this on internet and it appears that bmw has allowed this to continue over time and is not acknowledging issue.repair shop i'm using has dealt with many incidents of this, too.used for 17 mile each way daily commute so short trip-related problems should not be an issue.

The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. After the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the vehicle was leaking oil without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the valve cover gasket was leaking oil onto the engine and needed to be replaced, along with the timing chain cover, alternator bracket, and oil pressure switch. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,000.

Excess smoking upon starting.one week later excess smoking continuously..so much smoke i could not use car.

On 1/6/14i went outside and started up vehicle and let it warm up for a bit and then i drove about 2miles and car was acting funny as i drove it. It didn't want to go so i gave it some gas and rpm's revved up but odometer was moving up and down all crazy. I left vehicle cranked as i went into store and drove it back home. Didn't want to turn it off in case it didn't start back up.on 1/8/14 i went out and cranked car to warm up for a minute and then put car into drive and heard a loud pop. I then put car back into park. Car acted as if it didn't want to stay started so i gave it some gas and then a bunch of smoke came outfrom exhaust pipes. Turned car off and let all smoke clear and tried to restart car but it wouldn't turn over. Had car towed to import specialty and 2 days later they informed me this is a common issue with make & model that the diaphragm bust and the tcc valve breaks and throws oil everywhere. Thank goodness i bought a extended warranty that covers power train but not this issue $1,725.00 on the low side to just clean oil out and then we will be able to look further into car to see if engine is salvageable or not. I am in a rental car paying for that, repairs to start are just $1.725.00 plus.... Car payment. We don't know if warranty will cover this after they find out what happened per mgr at import specialty.i have called bmw nashville for goodwill assistance because ofyear of car per [xxx] they can't help. This is a know issue with this car and bmw needs to reimburse consumers who have had to shell out monies to fix this issue and other repairs because of this issue.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

On january 10 2019 i was driving to work when suddenly my bmw decides to shut off on the highway with no warning. My steering wheel stiffened up and i almost crashed my car. There was no warning light or nothing blinking on the dash to warn me of any problems. I just payed off my car and this happens to me. Its been really hard not having a car and not being able to take my kids to school. I reached ut to napleton kia and bmw of northamerica and they do not want to help me.they basically sold me an unsafe car which could of killed my family. Mechanic basically says that the motor seized without warning.and it would be 6000$ to fix.if you look online theres hundreds of people with the same problem and bmw does not want to help.a true lemon.

Oil separator-complete engine failure- bmw 2005 x5

Started my bmw x5 year 2005 (now with 59,500 miles)in cold weather (milwaukee, wi). Upon acceleration on expressway ramp a large cloud of white smoke blew out tailpipes. This occurred on two separate occasions recently. Prior to this, in february 2010 (with 50,000 miles), oil separator was replaced for $ 2000 cost. This time dealer replaced the same parts and system at no charge. Same part failed twice in one year, in a span of 10,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle would stall without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who informed the contact that the failure was caused by the oil separator. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000. I just got my x5 out of the shop two weeks ago due to a engine oil leak which cost 1700 to repair and now the brake booster system has went out which is another 1200 to repair. This vehicle has had two recalls for this same problem however the 2005 was not included in the recall the first recall was for 2000-2002 and the second recall which was just in february of this year was for 2007-2010 obviously the fix did not work and they need to include all vehicles from 2000 until 2010. When i called bmw all the girl on the phone could say is your x5 was not included in the recall.

The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle started to shutter and then it suddenly stalled. I bought a 2005 bmw x5 this may. I feel dizzy and nausea each time i drive it and i didn't know the reason until recently. I bought a gauss meter to check computer emf in my study room recently. Emf is showing as safe in front of every computer in my study room. To my surprise, it showed as danger after i started my bmw x5, even at the back row of the car. I tried it in another car i have, it showed as safe also. So i think this is the reason that caused the dizziness and the nausea. I am not sure what to do with it. I don't want to have any car accident due to dizziness.

I am reporting a design flaw with bmw and a major safety issue. I have had 2 oil separators go bad over the last 6 years. This issue has to be escalated from a "service bulletin" to a full blown recall. Ithis problem is not only a safety issue, but greatly depreciates the resale value of our vehicles not to mention the out of pocket costs due to repairs, lost wages, and towing to mention a few. None of us in good conscience could sell our vehicles in a midwest or northern climate and pass this problem on to the next owner - we need to unite and pass the problem back to the source: bmw.

Bang/clunk/kick - after giving gas from a rolling stop - feels like just got hit!what the hell is going on?this is not safe, my neck gets snapped back big time. I just purchased my 2005 x5 4.4i (88k miles) and all of a sudden every time i don't stop completely from a stop sign (rolling stop or slight incline) i hear and feel this loud bang/kick/clunk after i press the gas. Seems like it's trying to find a gear or the transfer case has something wrong or rear differential? closest reference to what i am experiencing: transmission bump - bimmerfest - bmw forumsor another way to describe it is that it feels like i just got rear ended by another car -- after giving it gas from a rolling stop or on an slight incline and my neck gets snapped back.just got a " transmission fail safe error" last night, so i pulled over, stopped the engine, and started up and message went away. Wtf?seems like the transmission is suddenly not engaging? does anyone know what i should do besides trading it in before it gets worse and have to pay $$$ to fix?this is an issue for this make and model, so why isn't bmw fixing this in a recall?

Engine iced up and hydro-locked from condensate.stalled in traffic with slippery roads, in front of a logging truck.very narrowly escaped collision.found many incidents of this on internet and it appears that bmw has allowed this to continue over time and is not acknowledging issue.repair shop i'm using has dealt with many incidents of this, too.used for 17 mile each way daily commute so short trip-related problems should not be an issue.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v071000 (air bags), 17v020000 (air bags), and 17v138000 (power train). The parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The dealer stated that nhtsa campaign number: 17v138000 (power train) was underway for other vehicle's of the same model for the last couple of months. The service adviser informed the contact that nhtsa was responsible for distribution of parts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the air bag parts could be expedited within 2-3 weeks. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available for nhtsa campaign number: 17v020000. Parts distribution disconnect for nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v020000 and 17v138000.

I own a 2000 bmw x5 that cost approximately $62,000.my vehicle has only 27,593 miles and needs transmission repairs totally over $8,000.i was driving on a residential street when the vehicle broke down after stopping at a stop sign.when i stepped on the gas to drive the car made a very loud high pitched screeching sound and would no longer drive.it was towed into the same dealership where i purchased the vehicle.i was told that the transfer case was bad and this caused metal splines to enter the differential and that i would need a new transfer case, drive shaft, and front differential.the warranty covered "4 years or 50,000 miles" and i had exceeded the number of years covered by the warranty.i understand that the vehicle is outside the terms covered by this warranty, but the implication made by the warranty is that the vehicle will drive for at least 50,000 miles.i am extremely disappointed that a $60,000+ vehicle can only drive 27,000 miles without a major failure.bmv has offered to cover 50% of the repairs, which would leave over $4,000 for me to come up with to make the vehicle drivable.this repair includes two "re-manufactured" components: the trans box, and the final drive.i am extremely disappointed in the vehicle and in the manner in which this has been handled by not only bmw but by the dealership, crevier bmw, where i purchased the vehicle.

I have a 2005 bmw x5 4.4 auto.transmission is defective , it takes at least 10 seconds to go into forward or reverse gear and will shift late and bang hard. Occurs all the time resulting in almost getting hit by other cars because it takes so long to go in gear. Many other2005 bmw x5 owners have the same problems. There should be a recall before someone gets injured or killed. Dealer tells me it is a known problem that will cost thousands of dollars to fix that i do not have.

Bmw's high instances of "hard 2-1 downshift" as they call it.many models of bmw's experience a feeling of being rear ended while slowing to a stop and then asking for an acceleration.also described as "slip and slam" by many people, there is an obvious defect in the transmission.this problem seems to get progressively worse the more you drive leading up to every time you drive your vehicle.bmw is obviously aware of the problem as they have a name for it, but getting a dealership to admit to a problem, let alone fix it is another story.car is currently in the shop to be "reprogrammed" at a cost of $180.00, but the technician flat out told me that this probably wouldn't fix the problem and maybe i could just live with it. This is not an option, as every time this event happens my 4 and 6 year old daughters assume we have been in an accident and start panicking, not to mention the bonk on the head and strain on their necks from the jolt.my car is now out of warranty, but they will gladly replace the transmission at my cost and that should fix the problem.this is a widespread problem possibly involving many hundreds of cars and many complaints of this problem including claims of whiplash can be found on chat boards such as edmunds.com, xoutpost.com and bimmerfest.com...or just type in bmw feels like being rear ended...and it will all come up.hopefully all of these people have put in a complaint as well so that something can finally be done about this problem, seeing as how bmw refuses to fix it themselves.

2005 bmw x5 4.4 has a transmission problem.the car seems to slip out of gear when slowing down and then accelerating then violently lurches forward.the sensation and sound gives the impression that you were just rear ended by another car traveling at a high rate of speed.this has happened at least 50 times over the 2 years i have had the car.it has been reported to bmw at least 3 times and they always claim they cannot find a cause.

I have had a message come up on my bmx x5 saying "trans.failsafe.prog.the first time was on 7/31/09 they said nothing was wrong or came up when they drove it at the dealership. On 9/09/09 the same message popped up and my car would not change gears and felt like it was going to shut off.

Fasten seatbelt chime and disabled airbag light appear even though passenger's seatbelt is fastened.symptoms occur whether seat is occupied or unoccupied.

2005 bmw x5 - passenger seat heater heated up excessively to the point of burning a hole through the back of seat. Noticed a burning smell of leather and then discovered hole burned through. Passenger also felt excessive heat on back by left shoulder. Reported this to bmw and they made no offer to fix. Cost to repair this is $1750.00. The concern i have is when i resell this car to someone else if not fixed could cause a fire in the future.

Bmw x5 2005 a hole was burned into the drivers seat, burning my leg and a hole in my sweater, while driving on a city street. I purchased this vehicle new in 2005 and have had it serviced regularly.

Seat heater burned hole through driver side seat cushion & burned my leg.

Seat heater got too hot . It made a burnt hole in seat, my pants and burned me.i was driving the vehicle

The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. While driving approximately 15 mph with the seat heater activated, the front driver side seat began to get hot and there was a burning odor. The contact reduced the heat for the seat, but the failure recurred whenever the seat heating option was activated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.

My breaks went out the lights goes on and off the wioers dont work the outside lights goes on and off at night i have a outrageous ciolant leak and mire i have drove the car in about 5 months or longer and still making payments now the car is completely dead i don't know what to do me and the kids gers soaked because i h a ve walk them to and from school everyday it sucks so im making payments for something i can use ive had coils replaced everything it vibrates really bad when i come to a stop light ibhave had no accident or anything just problems

The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. The contact stated there was a leak and the brakes failed. The dealer diagnosed that the brake vacuum pump fractured and leaked to the brake line, which caused a failure with the brake booster. The dealer diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The manufacturer provided no solution and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v045000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic). The failure mileage was not available.

The car was driving fine until i went to use the brakes as a slow speed 5-25mph.the brake pedal got really hard and the car was not stopping.i was coming up to a red light and there was a car in front of me i almost hit, because the car was not stopping as normal.this condition seems to be only when driving really slow, or just starting.there were no indicator lights (brake light).i checked the brake fluid and all other fluids, which were at acceptable levels.i turned off the car and back on to see if it was the computer or abs system, this did not help.i took the car to my mechanic (independent) and he explained that it was the vacuum pump that had an oil leak. This pushed the oil up the vacuum line and into the break booster. So i need to replace the vacuum pump, vacuum line, and brake booster.he and i did a check and found a recall on the same engine in different bmw models in that year and after 2007 in the same model.i researched online and found other people with the same issue i have and they came to the same conclusion the it is weird that the 2005 x5 4.4 v8 is not in the recalls, even though it is exhibiting the same issues as other bmw make and models that have the same issue that have been recalled.i am concerned, because this is a dangerous issue that bmw and the nhtsa is aware of (because of recalls), but the 2005 v8 x5 does not fall under this recall????

Leaving house we found the brake pedal not functioning properly and pedal going all the way to the floor before engaging.brake lines damaged.brake lines needed to be fabricated and replaced.

The brake booster has failed twice now on this 2005 bmw x5.bmw has recalled other models in the same model year for the same problem, but refuses to repair the problem to my vehicle.this failure of the brake booster has put my family in danger and has costed me thousands of dollars.

The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, brake fluid started to leak and the brakes failed without warning. The contact replaced the brake fluid and drove the vehicle home. The contact was made aware of nhtsa campaign number: 05v367000 (service brakes, hydraulic) but did not confirm if the vehicle was included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

I currently have a bmw x5 2005, with 4.4.vin # [xxx].brakes are not working properly.brake system hardens when vehicle slows down and doesn't work properly until car is restarted.same engine and same brake system in different model (740i) has been recalled to fix the issue.according to bmw service desk, the x5 models hasn't been recalled with same issues with the brake hydraulic system.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I noticed the recall on the brake system for 2007 -2010 bmw x5, but think they should include other years of same model. My brake light came on saying check brake linings. Had the brake pads redone and after leaving was almost in 4 accidents due to the brake boosters failing. After full analysts from bmw they said 1800.00 to replace, but have never had any problems with my brakes until they were replaced.

Resistance in the electrical contacts on rear brake light is causing my brake light to intermittent stop working.

The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. After starting the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal, brake fluid leaked under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake line fractured due to rust from water that accumulated under the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 71,417. Updated 10/04/16*ljupdated 10/13/16.

The contact owns 2005 bmw x5 4.4. The contact was driving 10 mph when the power assist for the brakes failed. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where they replaced the vacuum pump and brake booster due to an oil leak. The manufacturer was contacted and they stated that they were aware of the failure but they were not taking responsibility since his vehicle was not included in the voluntary manufacturers recall. The failure mileage was 87,976 and the current mileage was 89,000.

2005 bmw x-5 brakes fail to stop vehicle due to malfunction of the hydraulic brake booster.this is an ongoing problem.it will require buying a new brake booster and paying for its installation, cost of over $1000. The same problem has caused the recall of bmw 7 series from several model years.

Engine cooling system, driver side door damage and transmission failure issues. Sound of a kick in the back of the car when starting motion.

The rear locks are locked jammed and do not have any manual over ride to open the back doors. My kids got trapped in and hac to get out from the front door.if this happens to all the doors the passengers would be trapped in permanently and die from carbonmonooxide poisoining or freeze to death with the cold weather.there are lots of complaints like this on the internet and the dealer says that there is a fault with the electrical connections to open the door.this is a big safety consern that can be life threatening !!!bmw should fix this mechanical problems before any body looses their life or kids get hurt trying to get out.

The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. While attempting to exit the vehicle, the door independently closed. The contact's right thumb was severed and medical attention was required. The vehicle was taken to rallye bmw (1 brush hollow road, westbury, ny 11590) where it was determined that the vehicle functioned as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and provided an investigator to confirm that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

The panoramic roof on my 2005 x5 bmw stuck in the vent position.the rear glass would not retract.my bmw dealership stated that the complete cassette needed to be replaces at a cost of over $5,000.00.from conversations with repair people i am led to believe that this is a problem for both the x5 and the x3.i have been told that bmw has three different levels of repair kits so that the vehicles which are still under warranty can be repaired for the lowest cost to bmw.i suggest that bmw knows this is a reliability problem but refuses to address the problem once the vehicle's warranty expires.

Car starts to shake almost uncontrollably when going at a high speed on freeway and noticing leaks but not sure from where

The contact owns a 2005 bmw x5. When turning the vehicle, an abnormal clicking noise was heard from the front end of the vehicle while driving 20-30 mph. The service engine and air bag warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the front axles were defective and needed to be replaced. The illumination of the warning indicators was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage and vin were not provided.

I have had issues with every single window. They do not roll up. I repeatedly pay to have these fixed and they continue to be an issue. There is an absolute defect in these windows. I have had an array of vehicles, none of which had half as many issues as this bmw.

As my car sat in my driveway (with no key in the ignition), it burst into flames, spreading to nearby trees and bushes, and cracking several windows in my house. The fire department put it out before it could burn the house down and i managed to escape the home without injury.

Engine cooling system, driver side door damage and transmission failure issues. Sound of a kick in the back of the car when starting motion.

The 2005 x5 bmw v8 has given me all kinds of problems. From replacing engine, transmission, catalytic converter, valve gaskets to fuel injector and ignition problems. The car shuts off while still on drive and sometimes in motion. Car has all types of problem and continues to drain me financially
