On january 23, 2012 after a whole weekend of downpour rain, i get into my x3 to notice water on the center console (near my cup holder) i look up and notice the water is dripping from the top middle console (where the moon roof control, air bag button and sos call button are located). Not only was it dripping water but the whole area around but it was soaked and wet. After reading about this on-line that other people have and are experiencing this water leak problem, i realized i need to check the other areas people mention they had water leaks. That's when i checked the floor on both the driver and passenger side and to my surprise the driver side had more water than what i could ever imagine, it was drenched. So now that i have all this water in my car it looks like it has caused some problems with my sos button. Without me touching it, it tries to calls and doesn't get a connection. It reads bmw phone inactive and it keeps making a noise that comes through the speakers. I've also noticed that light from the middle top console is not working correctly. I am sure i'm going to end up with a lot more electrical, lighting problems than just these few. This is a problem that needs to be looked into and fix by bmw.
"passenger airbag off" overhead console light is illuminated intermittently even when 140 lb passenger occupies the front passenger seat.sometimes when passenger moves around in the seat the light will go away.talked to service advisor at bmw of sterling, virginia on 4/5/12.they acknowledged four facts (1) it is a passenger seat occupancy detection mat failure, and (2) if the light is on in the event of an accident, the passenger airbag will not deploy no matter how severe the accident is, and (3) the mat in question was replaced on 02-16-2007 at 40,788 miles for an identical problem under manufacturer defect code 6577081500, and (4) there is a recall for the issue, but my vin is not covered under the recall.they told me they will not cover the previous repair and will charge me $1,290 for it.research on this web-site shows nhtsa active ea08001 pertains to an identical issue.this is a serious safety defect that the manufacturer has already acknowledged on certain cars and they should cover my car for the same defect as well.

The vehicle in front of me came to a stop with a defective brake light, so we were in traffic so i wasn't going more than 5 mph, so applied the brakes.unfortunately i still bumped the bumper of the vehicle in front of me which caused the air bag to deploy.when the air bag deployed it caused damage to my arm and face loosening 6 teeth which has since had to be pulled out.there was nothing with the accident that should have caused the windshield to be completely smashed, but it was completely shattered.the emt kept asking me if i hit my head on the windshield and i repeatedly said "no".i can only eat soft food or smoothies now since losing my teeth.i don't remember anything once the air bag deployed leading the emt personnel to feel i lost consciousness.due to the damage the air bag caused to my vehicle along with accelerating once the air bag hit me in the face casued my vehicle to be a total loss by my insurance adjustor usaa.
Dt:2004 bmw 300 series.the consumer states the driver side air bags deployed spontaneously.she was driving 10-15 mph when this occurred.the consumer was not injured.the sensor strip beneath the driver's seat shows an area of impact.the vehicle has never been in an impact; the consumer has always had this vehicle.the vehicle stalled when the airbags deployed.this occurred on a flat residential road.she was at a stop sign and when she started to accelerate, the air bags deployed.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3. The contact stated that the front passenger air bag warning light flashed and remained illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer stated that the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number:08v384000 (air bags). The failure mileage was not available.
The airbag light remains on at all times.
Without cause or incident, the passenger seat mat of our airbag system has failed and disabled the entire airbag system for our vehicle.a recall was issued for the same problem for the same model and year of manufacture, but our vin was excluded from the recall. The repair costs are extraordinary and the manufacturer has refused to offer any assistance.furthermore, the manufacturer is unable to explain why my particular vehicle was not part of the recall and how the airbag system works.the vehicle has very low mileage and has been well maintained.
Bmw unable and unwilling to complete recall no. 08v384: front passenger seat occupant detection mat recall and warranty coverage extension.no parts available, parts not on order, bmw usa not ordering parts for recall.no timeline given, told to call back in two months.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 08v384000 (air bags) in the mail and stated that the manufacturer informed her that her vin was not included in the recall, although she received a recall notice. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3.she states that she noticed the passenger side frontal air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel indicating that the air bag system is inoperative. As a consequence the front passenger air bags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system would not be possible. She contacted the dealer and the manufacturer and was advised that because her vin number was excluded from the vin range for recall #08v384000 (air bags:frontal) they would not assume responsibility for any repairs. The failure and current mileages were 57,000. Bl

I am a military member stationed in ramstein germany from jan 2001 - june 2005.in may 2005, i purchase a us-spec 2004 bmw x-3 from an authorized bmw dealer on base.i shipped my vehicle back to the states in july 2006.recently, i noticed that my air bag warning lamp and passenger on-off lamp are illuminated--problem is identical to the recall summary 08v384000 in this website.however, when i called bmw, they said that my vin is not included in the recall lists.can you help me get my vehicle fixed under this recall program?my vin # is [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3.whenever a passenger is seated in the front passenger seat, the passenger side air bag light indicates that the air bag is deactivated.as a result, the passenger side air bag would not deploy in the event of a crash.through research, the contact found nhtsa campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags:frontal).the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in the recall.the contact believes that the vehicle is being excluded because it was imported into the united states.the failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 105,000.
I have a 2004 bmw x3.there is a recall on my year and model vehicle for faulty airbag sensors that cause the airbags not to function in a crash.my car is displaying the symptoms of the problem as described in the recall notice. Bmw is not including my particular car in the recall.this defect is a safety hazard to my wife and i.it is my wish that bmw will expand the recall to include all vehicles that have this defective condition.

The airbag warning light on the dashboard stays illuminated while driving.the front passenger airbag light goes on and off intermittently while driving and my husband is sitting in the passenger seat.called local bmw dealership and 800 number- as after researching this issue it is a recall.they said it didn't pertain to my vehicle.the recall states for model years 2004 - 2006 bmw x3.i have a 2004 bmw x3 and am wondering how it doesn't pertain to my vehicle.
Http://www.aboutautomobile.com/investigation/2004/bmw/x3/airbagbmw has only recalled a partial list of vehicles for the ongoing issue with the passenger airbag not functioning.this needs to be expanded to the entire vehicle line.i have a 2004 bmw x3 and it is experiencing same issue documented in recall list and its not been issued a recall notice.it appears bmw has limited the amount of vehicles covered by the recall notice to save on dollars.this is serious, if an accident occurs the passenger air bag safety system will not function.
Every once in a while the passenger air bag would not activate when someone of the appropriate weight was sitting in the passenger seat.so, when a passenger was sitting in the seat, the light showing passenger airbag not activated light would still be illuminated.this would happen on and off, not constant.then one day it remained on constant and on the dash a red airbag warning light illuminated.both of these lights have stayed illuminated since the problem began happening.i contacted bmw based on the recall that is listed, they state that even though the error that occurred and problem matches the recall, my vin is not effected.therefore, i would like a review to see if my vin number should be included in this recall or if the recall should be extended to more vehicles that are effected. (nhtsa ea08001)i have contacted bmw and they refuse to repair the defect at no cost to me.i have contacted the main office and dealers.they continue to state that my vin was not effected and i will need to pay to repair the defect.
Air bag warnings in 2004 bmw. Brought in for service twice and was ingorned. Then, had accident and complained again to bmw customer service. Result-they could care less. Sent at least three emails-no action, little response .
Passenger airbag light goes on and off with seatbelt both on or off.
2004 bmw - front air bag disable enabled by it's self. Has been repair twice already. Now happening for a third time
Passenger airbag off light comes on very occasionally (3-4 times in 13 months) when a passenger is properly seating in the front passenger seat.the light stays on for several minutes and typically goes out and then comes back on again for a few minutes.then, it will not occur for several months.the problem has been reported to the dealer several times and they simply say they cannot fix a problem that they can't find.the have opened a "case" to collect information but have not rectified the problem.they say that bmw is collecting information.they cannot definitively tell me how the airbag system will perform if the light happens to be on when a vehicle crash occurs.they do insist that the front airbag will deploy even though the light says the airbag is off but they don't know whether the side airbag will deploy.my primary complaint is that they seem to treat this issue very lightly, both at the local dealer and at the national customer service offices.
I have been having problems with my 2004 bmw x3 2.5l sav in where the airbag light for the front passenger seat will illuminate indicating that the airbag has been deactivated while my wife is sitting in the passenger seat.i have brought my truck into the dealership (jmk bmw in springfield, nj) about 4 times and unfortunately each time the issue has not been resolved.i contacted bmw of north america to report the problem.they were in contact with my dealer and even requested to have my truck brought back to the dealership to have it looked at on more time (by this time it would be the 4th trip back to the dealership for the same problem).after a couple of days the dealership called me stating that the problem has been fixed.but it has not.i reported the issue again to bmw of north america and a couple of days later they told me that the have used every possible solution on my truck and that there is nothing more that can be done to resolve the problem.that??s right!bmw of north america told me that there's nothing more they can do.they told me that they had engineers from germany look into the issue, they have had numerous technicians sit in the passenger seat to see if the airbag indicator illuminates (mind you they probably weigh at least 75lbs more then my wife), they moved the sensors on the seat, replaced the sensors, and more.yet the problem remains.i have communicated with the manager at the parts and service department of the dealership and i am waiting word back to see what the next step is in regards to my problem because i will no accept the fact that bmw of north america is telling me that there is nothing more that can be done to fix a problem that their product is having.i hope this information helps you as i hope it will help me in getting my problem fixed and hopefully get this information out there to other drivers of the x3 to make sure they know of this issue and try and get it fixed right away.
Driving on freeway and driver's side seat heater overheated burning seat and creating abundant smoke inside car's cabin. This was a very dangerous situation on the freeway and i have no doubt that the seat would have caught fire if i hadn't felt the burning sensation early enough.dealer stated that they had never heard of this happening and quoted $1200+ repair. Researched online and found many similar occurrences. Decided not to repair and chance the same happening again. Disconnected wiring to seat heater.
Dt:consumer experienced computer failure, that included all of the gauges on the dashboard i.e., fuel, temperature, electronic speed). Theexterior and interior lighting failed, brake lights, signal lights. The vehicle always had a electronic message stating that there was anairbag failure.the consumer contacted the dealer and they advised not to worry about the airbag failure message.the consumer experienced door lock failure. The locks would not lock.thelocks would work most of the time with the keyless entry.the radio never worked. The check engine light remained on continuously.consumer states she had the vehicle to the dealer at least 8 to 10 times.thedealer would take the car in the back and adjust something and then return it to the consumer and tell her it was fixed.consumer states vehicle is unsafe due to exterior lights failing and airbag failure light.consumer does not own the car any longer.dealer contacted him to bring the car back in and he would give his money back.consumer is concerned that this vehicle has been passed on to another consumer with all the problems.
Multiple electronic problems from day of purchase.fuel gauge problems/air conditioning shut down and slowing/dashboard malfunctioned, cumulating infailure of ignition.3 days later, battery indicated a green sensor, therefore assumption electronic failure occurred elsewhere.
There was a very mild rain last two days in madison. Now my car has central lock problem and also wet floor. I'm happy that i was not driving the car while it was raining. I read over the internet that many bmw x3 have this water leakage and electrical problems. A wet interior and a live electrical system, and you know what might happen.
Vehicle fires.
As i was driving on the freeway with the driver's side heated seat on the low setting, i felt a sudden burning sensation on my back of my upper left thigh and shifted slightly, putting my hand under the area to see what was the matter.the rear area of the left side seat bolster had gotten so hot i had to turn off the seat heater immediately.i decided not to turn it on again until another time in late march when i again turned on the seat heater.the same sudden feeling of "overheating" was immediately felt in the same area, i turned off the seat heater, and i haven't used it since then.when my car was in for service for another issue, i mentioned it to my service advisor and asked whether he knew of other similar incidents or whether there was a bmw recall for the issue.he said no to both questions.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and was unable to restart on several occasions. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. Burdick bmw (5947 e circle dr, cicero, ny 13039, (315) 459-6000) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000. The vin was not available.
Driver's side seat burned through the seat and burned the jacket when the seat heater was turned on while my wife was driving. This is the second time it happened in this car. First time it happened while the car was under warranty, and the dealership (silver spring bmw of md) replaced the seat under warranty. In this case got lucky it did not catch fire or cause any injury to us. This situation easily could have ended up in a car fire. I was stunned to hear how lithely bmw na approach towards my concern when i called to lodge a complaint. At highway speed this could have been a fatal situation due to distraction this burn created worst car on fire.
Hi, i was wondering if anyone has heard of 3series spontaneously catching fire while driving down the road. My lady and i were driving in houston may 1st when smoke started to come out of the air ducts.then the gauges started to go up and down, as soon as i saw that i pulled over and started to get my valuables out. Within 9-13 min the car was fully involved with fire. I was in awe standing there watching my 2004 bmw as it wnt up in smoke. The next day bmw of houston north, my local dealer, went and picked it up from the tow yard and took it to the dealership. They said a team is coming down and it is under investigation. I was wondering if anyone had any advice, comments or just to say "sorry to hear that".i finally talked to my contact at bmw na . His name is [xxx] and he stated to me that the investigation team could not find the cause or nature of the fire. Since they could not find the cause, that i file the under my insurance. I was very disappointed that they told me this. I asked for his supervisors name and # and said, thank you for you time and i will contact him. I got off the phone just so mad, but i kept my cool on the phone. I called my dealership and stated to them what customer relations told to me. I talked to the service manager and told him he needs to start contacting someone about this issue, very quickly.bmw na they said they are standing with"we cant find the cause of the fire and we cant help at all" end quote. They also said your options are to get with your council and send a certified letter. Everyone that i talk to about this, is amazed that bmw has dropped me in the grease and is not willing to do anything. Allstate called me thur and told me that there team of investigators found the cause of the fire that took the life of my car on may 1. They said they found that it was the "correct me if i say this wrong" b cable going to the starter was pinched and caused the ignition. P.s. Make of my car is 325ci, not a x3information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act
While i am driving the instrument cluster light turn off, all digital display on cluster disappeared about 10 seconds and turn back on. It seem like all headlight and tail light also turn off. It seem like happened 1 or 2 times a year.
Driver's seat back heater grid shorted causing damage to the insulation and leather seat cover. It was hot enough to cause physical burns.
Door locks work intermittently - key fob and central lock button work normally at times. Other times all will fail, causing all doors except for the driver's door to become locked from both the inside and outside, when this occurs the key fob and central button fail. This causes you to be locked in the vehicle if you are not in the driver's seat. The only key fob button to work when this occurs is the rear hatch. Other failures are when the doors will lock with the key fob, but only the driver's door will unlock using it.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3. The contact stated that the 4x4 warning lamp and the abs warning lamp illuminated intermittently. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously involved in two separate crashes. After the most recent crash, the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer and unknown repairs were performed and the warning lamps continued to illuminate for the abs warning lamp and the 4x4 warning lamp. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The details of the crash were unknown. The failure mileage was not available.
Started the car and the airbag warning lamp came on and will not go off. The airbag has not been deployed and there has not been an accident. The passenger airbag status lamp is also on all the time. I am concerned the airbags are not working. The warning lights have been on for about 2 weeks.
Short circuit in heating element for driver's side seat.shocks occur through leather when heater is active.turned off heat and discontinued use of heating element to avoid damage/burns.passenger side heating element is still ok.

After just spending $2400 last week on my car. I was traveling 65 mph on interstate 78 when my 2004 bmw x3 lost all power. I was lucky enough to glide my car from the left lane to the right shoulder. I tried to start the car again and all the lights on the dashboard kept flashing on & off and car would not start. As i sat in my car on barely a shoulder 18 wheeler's and cars flew by me shaking my car. I seriously thought i was going to die.
Driving in neighborhood with stop signs and cross streets. Spouse driving. Other passenger in front. Me in rear seat pass side. 10 min into trip. Approaching stop sign, a few seconds after brake initially applied, engine begins to rev. Heavy braking stops vehicle, but engine still revving.from back seat, i have clear view of driver's feet and can see that problem is not misapplication of pedals.can also see that hand position is "10 & 2" and not near cruise control buttonsdriver turns off engine to stop revving. We check floor mats to see if this was problem.they were normal position and not near accelerator pedal.when engine restarted, problem disappears. Frightening incident. There was a pedestrian in crosswalk who walked in front of vehicle while this happened.
Check oil light came on so vehicle was pulled to the side of the road.within seconds, smoke had engulfed the engine bay.the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames within a few minutes.

The engine mount bracket bolts have all sheared off inside the engine block causing a safety concern with the engine not being fully supported.this problem is not an isolated incident, but rather very common on all x3 models. The internet is full of customer complaints with the same problem.i am the second owner of the car and just after purchase i found the problem. It would appear that this failure occurred a long time ago, consistent with the numerous complaints of failure at 60,000 miles.this is a design flaw and bmw should have provided a long term solution. Yet to this day, none exists.replacement bolts will still have the same failure mode.
While sitting at a red light the car suddenly accelerated and i couldn't control it or stop it while pushing heavily on the brake pedal.i hit the car in front or me.this has happened more than once.

Faulty oil seperator - chronic problems.
Failure of crankcase ventilation valve in 2004 3 series bmw.this failure was caused by moisture build up in the valve, which then froze atan extremely cold temperature, causing the engine to seize.apparently, bmw has known about this problem, as the replacement valve is "re-engineered".apparently, this problem only occurs in the six cylinder engine, at extremely low temperature, and in cars which are used only in "short trips".the car has been down for over two weeks, awaiting parts.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle stalled. Upon restart, the contact was able to continue driving. Approximately ten minutes later while driving 40 mph, the failure occurred again. The brake, 4x4, and fuel lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to drive upon restart. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the digital engine management control was defective. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 80,000.
While driving at freezing temperature, white smoke came from the engine room. I stopped the engine and found huge leak of oil from the valve cover. I needed to add 1 quart oil which mean 1 quart of oil was leaked out. I had a mechanic look at it and was told that the leak was caused by freezing oil separator. Since the oil separator was designed incorrectly, it stops working by the frozen condensate in cold climate. And, it cause high pressure in the crankcase and consequently oil leak through the valve cover gasket. The problem may cause a complete engine failure.
August 1, 2010 took car to local bmw dealership northpoint to have air conditioner checked prior to 100,0000 mile warranty expiring. Told by dealership could not repeat diagnosis of why air was not cooling. On 11-15-2010 at 107,215 after warranty has expired a 3rd party diagnosed car as needing a evaporator coil which is a $2000-$2500 replacement. In addition to another problem of the engine burning and leaking oil which is $6000 to replace.
Engine power failure on a 2004 bmw 330ci. Repeated failure of engine power without warning (5 times in an intersection). Bmw replaced eng. Computer, then installed new software after second incident. Additionally bmw requested that i start using regular gas instead of premium. The issue went away after that.
Dear nhtsa,i am writing today to tell you my personal epxerience with my car.i bought a brand new bmw 330ci on july 18, 2003.one week after the purchase, the transmission stopped to engage when i start up the car.after i brought it in for a fix, i was told it was fixed.two months later, the same transmission problem came back again, and it was diagnosed to need replacement.in december 2003, the transmission is replaced after a few month's waiting for the new transmission.in may 2004, the car's engine stopped in traffic.and bmw told me it can not be diagnosed. From may 2004 to march 2005, the engine stall-in-traffic problem happened five times.no conclusive diagnostic was ever made.on oct 4, 2005, the transmission fails again in the morning.and all these problems listed here are just major safety issues, and does not include the small problems such as door guard completely falls off.at this point, after the problems of this car becomes chronicle, i feel that my safety is compromised, and bwm will not help me to solve the problem. Please help me!sincerely, jinwen xiao.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall while driving at various speeds. The service engine and eml lights would also illuminate on the instrument panel during the failures. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who advised the contact to replace the dme module. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000 and the current mileage was 59,000.
I have a 2004 330ci with a 6 spd transmission.this has happened in the past but this past weekend my car was in idle in traffic.my vehicle would do rough idling and the engine rpm would dip then surge eventually leading the car to lose engine power and die.this can be a safety concern when there is a possibly of someone rear ending you if the car just loses engine power.it's not a human problem but engine defect.
1.no advance warning.2.failure of pcv valve system, with resulting immediate consumption of engine oil through combustion process.engine stalls and vehicle is brought to complete stop.the failure has occurred three times in the past 3 years.3. Pcv related hardware replaced in first incident, with claim that "redesign" would prevent recurrence.same in second and third incident.this is not only an inconvenient problem, it is also safety related, as the problem can result in the vehicle being immobilized in traffic.it is also not an isolated problem, based on what bmw technicians and other mechanics have related.
I was helping one of our consumers resolve an issue with this mfg. Multiple electronic problems from day of purchase.fuel gauge problems/air conditioning shut down and slowing/dashboard malfunctioned, cumulating infailure of ignition.3 days later, battery indicated a green sensor, therefore assumption electronic failure occurred elsewhere.
The manufacturer supplied scissor style auto jack collapsed just before it reached full extension. Tire not yet clear of ground and no body parts near jack so no injuries or damage to car occurred. Potential consequences of failure after wheel removed are horrible.
While i am driving the instrument cluster light turn off, all digital display on cluster disappeared about 10 seconds and turn back on. It seem like all headlight and tail light also turn off. It seem like happened 1 or 2 times a year.
The lamps in the rear tail light assembly do not work.the connection is corroded.similar item was under a recall for 2002-05 3 series sedans (bmw recall campaign 11v-438) and this x3 shares many components with the sedan.the lighting assembly/connector is suspected to be one of them.
Insulation on wiring inside the headlight assembly is cracking and falling off wiring harness causing a short and blown fuse while driving on city street.
The driver side low beam headlight is not accessible for changing by the owner.the dealer has told me that the entire headlight assembly must be removed to change the low beam light.

Motorcycle:2004 bmw r1150r, vin ending in zf49715defective fuel system part:fuel line quick release "connectors", part no. 13317659119.plastic fuel line connector spontaneously fractured, spraying fuel on hot engine and exhaust pipe.had there been a spark the motorcycle would have burned up in the street. Bmw technician told me it was a common problem because after a year or so, the material, when exposed to fuel, became brittle.he was surprised there had not been a recall.i suspect there have been hundreds of unreported incidents with this part, some of which may have been tragic.i was stranded for quite a while, because at the time of the spontaneous rupture the engine had to be immediately shut off and the motorcycle pushed out of traffic and off the highway.
Multiple electronic problems from day of purchase.fuel gauge problems/air conditioning shut down and slowing/dashboard malfunctioned, cumulating infailure of ignition.3 days later, battery indicated a green sensor, therefore assumption electronic failure occurred elsewhere.
Without any warning or sign of a problem, the vehicle slowed and power completely failed rendering the vehicle inoperable.the vehicle was towed to a bmw dealership where the problem was diagnosed as a failure of the fuel pump.

I was arriving at my daughter's home in decatur ga just before 9:00 a.m. On friday, may 22, 2015. I pulled into her driveway but could see here was no room to park there due to the construction debris next door (from the new house being built). I decided to back out of her driveway and park on the street.i put the bmw x3 in reverse and it slowly (as usual) began moving backwards. With no foot on gas pedal, my car came to a stop at a slight incline.i reached my right foot over and tapped the tip top of my gas pedal, hoping just a small tap of gas could get me over the incline.just as i did this, the pedal dropped to the floor and the car revved, then lunged backwards. I was holding the brakes as tight as i could and within a few second brought my left leg to help push on brake with both feet.the brake could not stop the full force of the car moving backwards at full throttle, and left black skid marks in her driveway.my car speed in reverse at full throttle across the street narrowly missing a dumpster parked next door and another vehicle driving up the street who witnessed the incident. My car proceeded into the neighbor's yard (directly across the street), crashed into the neighbor's car, pushing their car into the front porch of their house.both cars were totaled and the house sustained damage.this incident must be investigated. Please contact me for more info and to get access to my car for inspection. People could have been killed!!!
Upon entering or exiting the vehicle and while driving there is no visual or audible indicators letting one know that doors are open or shut. The consumer was told that his vehicle does not include a warning indicator for doors being open or partially open.*tc
Check oil light came on so vehicle was pulled to the side of the road.within seconds, smoke had engulfed the engine bay.the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames within a few minutes.
Frontal differential and window motor went bad at the same time. The suv only has 80, 000 miles and is having all kinds of mechanical problems already. I bought a bmw because i was under the impression that they build good cars not lemons.
My transmission/vehicle at 40mph on flat or slight decent will jerk back and forth when you take your foot off the accelerator.bmw has replaced the torque converter, transmission, traction unit, abs sensor unit, to say this is normal with the 2.5 engine.i find it surprising that this is the case.now, since the repair my rear suspension makes noises, like there is a problem.they have tightened it up, but it is back to the same problem.i see there is pending lawsuits over the rear suspension of certain bmw vehicles.needless to say, nothing is fixed and now new problems have occurred.the local bmw dealer has been really good about this, it seems they are under advice from bmw.
Car was in park while running. I put in drive (not cold start) had been driving for 2 hours(stopped at store). I put in drive and the engine revved like the gas pedal was floored. I tried to make it stop by putting in park. I had no choice but to cut off the engine to make it stop. I am glad no one was near the car because they would have been injured. It jumped forward very hard and i was holdiing down the brake.it lurched forward and made a loud clunking sound and i shut the car off. I think it has to do with the trans. I just bought the car new 4 days ago and the dealer and bmw said this had been fixed though a software fix . I had read about the steptronic problem and was told it was no longer an issue. Obviously this is not the case.
Intermittently when coming to a quick stop, there is a significant and heavy bang causing you to jerk forward as if someone hit you in the rear. This has happened since i bought the car as new in 2004. It has been reported to the dealer at each service call but not been fixed.
I purchased a 2004 bmw 325xi in march of 2004 from hunterdon bmw in lebanon, new jersey.at 10,000 miles, my transmission malfunctioned, light kept coming on so they replaced the valve body. A week later, the transmission light came on again. This time hunterdon bmw had my car in the service department over 2 weeks and replaced my transmission. However, they replaced my new transmission with a used transmission, which i tried to fight because i bought a new car, not a used car, but they kept telling me it was their "policy". They also refused to tell me how many miles this transmission had on it, they refused to tell me if it was even a bmw transmission, and they refused to extend my warranty on the transmission to reflect the amount of miles that was on the car. Furthermore, after they replaced the transmission, the car jumped/jerked at intermittent times when i was accelerating or decelerating.when i brought it into the service department to check on it, they said they couldn't duplicate the problem ? and talked to me as if it was not happening. This leaves my safety at stake when i drive.now, a few months later, i had to bring my car in for service again: the car squeaks when it starts, the squeaking turned out to be the ac & drive belt - so they replaced it. I picked up the car only to find that the car is still squeakingit is not a safe vehicle to be in. Furthermore the loaner car, which was exactly the same as mine, drove 100 times smoother than mine.hunterdon bmw sold me a defective vehicle.
2004 bmw with automatic transmition, no engagement of the d rive after the car is set for 12-24 hours.
The transmission selector is able to be moved from drive to reverse without having to depress the brakes and safety.this can be done while the vehicle is still moving.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3. The contact stated his wife was driving approximately 45 mph, when suddenly the front wheels locked and spun out of control in snowy conditions on the highway. The contact was able to guide the vehicle to the side of the road; there were no warning lights. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who stated that the front differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,700.updated 02/08/11*ljupdated 03/11/11
The driver's side seat heater overheated causing discomfort to the driver's leg.turning off the heater stopped the overheating.there was no apparent damage to the seat.
My 2004 bmw x3 has heated seats which burned a hole through the seat and almost burned a hole through my pants.i was driving and almost wrecked from the pain.after i pulled over and jumped out i saw a burn in the seat that looked like a cigarette burn.bmw wants to make $700 to replace the heater and another $700 to replace the leather.took it to charleston, sc dealership.
While driving down the road in the morning, i had the driver seat heater on and felt it get very hot on one spot on the left side of the seat. It was so hot that it hurt and i turned it right off. I noticed this a week before also. The next night we went out and i looked down at the driver seat and there was an actual hole that was burned right through the leather!
Driver side seat warmer was set on the medium setting, smelled something burning and then started to feel pain in my leg, because the heated seats had melted the leather and burned my pants and my leg.
Driver's side seat warmer burned skin and scorched leather seat cover when turned on.
Left side of heated drivers side seat got really hot while driving and burned the leather on the seat and also my left leg.leg felt extremely hot and i smelt something burning so i immediately pulled over and turned car off.when i got out of the vehicle the seat was smoking in the area of the burn.i plan to take this car into fields bmw of northbrook, il (where i purchased the vehicle) to determine how they plan to fix this defect.
Bmw 2004 x3 seat heater element burned through leather causing burning and dangerous driving condition or fire possibility.
Drivers side seat over heats and burns your butt and a hole in the leather as well as clothes. Very dangerous.
Heated driver seat started burning my leg/buttock and smelled electrical burning smell. Turned off heated seat.
I have a 2004 bmw that has a serious safety issue. The driver's seat has a seat warmer that burns through the leather and scorches through clothing. This is a danger to anyone driving this vehicle with the seat heater activated. It has caused near misses with other vehicles on the road with both my wife and i driving. Our vehicle is out of warranty and i doubt if the dealership will replace the seat. There are scorch marks on the seat where it overheats as well as burn marks on our clothes. We have stopped using the seat heater on the driver's side to avoid any further incidents. We have called bmw headquarters on many other issues and they refused help with anything concerning this vehicle. The issue list for this vehicle is a long one as you may know. We thank you for any help that you can offer.
The driver side seat heating element is burning through the seat and burning leg.
March 2013 -driver side heated seat became extremely hot.now, december 2014, driver side heated seat become too hot to keep on and a burning smell is very noticeable.
Drivers side seat warmer overheats and burns seat and causes burns on legs.do not use seat warmers when driving.called bmw, claimed this wasn't an issue - was very disappointed in customer service.
I had just started driving, had turned the driver front seat heater to low, and only went about half a mile when i felt a burning sensation under left buttock/thigh area. Turned off seat heater quickly and pulled over - leather was puckered and discolored in one concentrated spot. It is apparent if it was left on for any length of time it would have burned right through and possibly caused a fire or injury.
Approximately 1 year ago i purchased for my daughter a 2004 used bmw x32.5i.the car has run fine so farbut in the evening of the 26th of january 2014 something very dangerous happened with the front driver seat heating system. She was driving and she notice a smell of burnt material inside the car, and looked down to see that the seat heater had burned through the left bottom side and had singed her pants. She of course was very scared and all most went out of the road for this! there is burnt a hole in the front driver seat and for the moment i pulled the fuses of the seat heating system (fuses was still ok and did not shut the system off!!).i have been calling bmw north america for more than a month, they sent me to a bmw local dealer where they inspect and made picture of the seat. Bmw n.a. ([xxx]) finally told me that they would pay only 50% of the repair cost ($800 my part) and the offer is valid only for 20 days after this the offer would not be valid anymore. I feel that this is a very serious safety problem and saw in internet that this is a common problem for this year/model.i strongly believe that bmw not only should repair the seat for free but should also initiate a proper recall to avoid this very serious driving safety issue.please help.thank youbest regardsinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Driver's seat back heater grid shorted causing damage to the insulation and leather seat cover. It was hot enough to cause physical burns.
For some time we had to keep the driver side seat heater no higher than "1".at level 2 & 3 it burned you or felt like you were being stuck with something.on the date in question, i drove about 2 miles, went into a store, came back out, started the car, turned the heater on again (level 2 for about 2 seconds then back to level 1.i smelled a strong burning odor, then a smell almost like cigar smoke.then immediately turned off the heater.the smell subsided within 3-4 minutes.however, it left a black burn mark on the leather seat about the size of a pencil eraser.obviously, continued use will cause a full out fire rather than just burning the leather.
Bmw x3 heated seat burned foam & leather and caused minor burn to left leg of driver.
Felt a burning under my leg and smelled burning plastic.parked the car and my scarf was melted to the seat and smoke was coming from it.pulled on my scarf to get it off and noticed a hole burnt in the seat from the heated seat element.parts of the seat were stuck to my scarf and pants.made sure the seat stopped smoking and wont use the heated seats anymore.
I turned on my seat heaters to the lowest setting (1out of 3) just as i left work. After about 20 seconds as i drove down the road, i felt a sharp burning through my wool jacket in my left thigh/butt area. I turned it off immediately. When i got home and looked at the seat, it had left a burn area in the leather. After looking at different websites and forums online, it seems to be a very common problem with this model. However, based on owner's comments, the dealers aren't taking responsibility.
While i drive my car , i turned on my seat heat , i start feeling burning pain while am driving on highway , the second time when i finished my work and i start my car to head home , i start smelling burning and my leg was burning so bad , i got out of the car , and my seat leather was burning , i saw hole in my seat and the wires inside was burned and smelled terrible ,that is safety issue , if it happened while i was drivingon highway, i would get in an accident
Short circuit in heating element for driver's side seat.shocks occur through leather when heater is active.turned off heat and discontinued use of heating element to avoid damage/burns.passenger side heating element is still ok.
Driver's seat heating unit overheats when on high setting, to the point of burning skin through the seat and clothing.lower left lumbar and seat bottom appear to be impacted.per service shop, the seat heater grid is broken, causing 40 degree higher temperatures than normal in the left leg area.ongoing issue, not a single occurrence.
Seat heater on drivers side is burning through.if left on it would burn through clothes and burn skin.
- the contact stated that whiled driving on the morning of 01/17/06, the thermostat on her seats turned on high.the contact stated that she smelled something burning and pulled to the side of the road.she then turned off the heater in the vehicle and opened the hood of the vehicle.the contact stated that she found nothing wrong.she got back in the vehicle and started driving without the car heater on.the contact stated that about 1/2 mile later she felt burning on her legs.she jumped out the vehicle and noticed the driver seat was on fire.the fire burned through the leather.the contact called the bmw dealership and the vehicle was towed.the dealership stated that the wires in the seat had malfunctioned.the dealership would repair the vehicle or end the lease on her vehicle.the contact stated that the dealership has offered to take care of any medical expenses and replace her clothing.the contact stated that the dealership did inform her that this failure has happened on numerous occasions.
As i was driving my 2004 bmw x3 during cold weather, i smelled something burning.i pulled my car over, turned off the heat and checked under the hood.the smell had dissipated and i could see no smoke or any evidence of fire.i restarted the car with the heater turned off, and shortly after, felt a strong burning sensation on my hip and realized that my coat was on fire.i stopped the car and jumped out and used a large book to smother the fire on the driver's seat. Field's bmw in northbrook, il took the car back that same day, and the next day confirmed a seat heater fire. I went to my doctor to confirm the burn on my leg.as of today, feb. 1, i have not received any offer, settlement, or satisfaction from bmw.i called bmw north america myself, and received a return call from jay hansen, who seemed responsive, but i have not heard from him since.amazingly, since the day after the fire, when they called to confirm the cause of the fire was the seat heater, i have not heard from the dealership.
Heated driver's seat in bmw 745i had electrical short and caused small fire, burning hole in the seat.dealer replaced all components but did not issue receipt identifying source of defect and work performed.
The heated seat malfunctioned and burnt a hole in the leather seat. This easily could have caused a fire, had i not turned off the heated seat immediately. The heater must have shorted out. The spot where the short occurred, on the side bolster in the seat bottom, gets very hot and burned the leather.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3. While driving 45 mph, the contact noticed that the heated seats became hotter than normal. The contact pulled over, exited the vehicle, and noticed that the heated seat coils burned holes through the leather seats and the seat covers. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,000.

Please find my email transactions in regards to my 2004 bmw 525i break problem with bmw usa/assael bmw (monrovia, ca), and the better business bureau complaint no.:10434046. It is regards to problem with the breaking system on the vehicle which has been serviced 3 times without resolution. This has almost cost me and my wife's life when the vehicle can not perform emergency stop which almost results in a traffic accident: dear allison, i have called mr. Lytton today at 1:30pm and spoke to him which he states " i will have someone schedule the service with you shortly" then i have never heard from anyone again? like i have stated before, this is the kind of treatments that i have received many times from assael bmw service department which they have failed to keep their promise and service. I do not understand why i have to be treat it this way with no respect at all? why does bmw still refer me to a service center that does not do anything? i have been suffered over 3 months for the problems that occurs on my bmw 525i with break squeaking problem (been service twice without solution) and glove box latch broken by the service technician at assael bmw service center. I can't believe what i have to go through with the poor and bad customer service that i have received from bmw. I will not call anyone at assael bmw since they don't even bother to call me back when they promise me that they will. Please check to see if someone can contact me directly for these problems and poor services which i still prefer to go to other service centers for the problems.
June 6, 2004, we purchased the bmw 545i from irvine bmw.while driving in july, in the middle of a turn, the steering wheel locked, i shut of the engine and the steering reset itself.the car was at the dealer for 3 weeks.upon receipt, the steering failed again in october, the car was in service 4 weeks.upon receipt, the car again failed in november, the car was in service 4 weeks.upon receipt the active steering malfunctioned again in january 2005.the dealer offered us a replacement or a refund.the active steering malfunction causes the steering to lock in the middle of a turn.two times i was in traffic and nearly escaped a collision.the safety of this car is absent.
Bmw x3 is unsafe to drive on certain road conditions. It will swerve and come close to pulling into oncoming traffic. It is sudden and at times i have just avoided an accident.bmw said that they will not correct this and claims it is how the car is meant to drive. I feel that it is too dangerous and want this corrected or recalled.
Steering is extremely difficult during very hot weather.it is very difficult to make any kind of steering adjustment.
On july 25th, 2005 at 12:30 pm my daughter lost steering control of our 2004 mini cooper (18,000 total miles of travel), approximately 1.5 blocks from our house and slightly side swiped a parked car going at very low speed because of a construction zone.upon inspection, it was apparent that the tie rod of the right front wheel was completely severed.the damage was far below the threshold that would be expected to break a tie rod.when prompted, my daughter recalledbumping the curb when she parked the car and hour or so before the accident.the impact to the curb was at 1-4 mph and consisted of a slight bump and a scrape and was not considered significant by my daughter.the tie rod has now been replaced and is in our possession.the damage tie rod is completed severed and apparently snapped where a threaded area of the rod is inserted in a bolt.all of the breakage and damage to the rod is limited to a 3/4 cm threaded area of this rod where the breakage occurred, there is absolutely no bending or worn areas outside of this portion of the rod.because this breakage occurred at the weakest position of the tie rod and resulted from a typical parking maneuver, i am very concern that this breakage resulted from either a defective tie rod or is related to a systematic structural-design defect.of course an alternative is that bumping a curb during carelesslow speed parking creates a sufficient force to break a tie rod and make this vehicle unsafe to drive thereafter.this late explanation was proposed by the manufacturer.although my daughter was not injured and the cost of repair was less than $500 dollars, i am submitting this complaint because of the unusual nature and the potential to result in a mortal accident.

I was driving the 405 fwy s close to lax when all of a suddeni heard like wind blowing inside my car then i heard a loud sound that something fell or thinking that my car must have stepped on somethingi looked at the windows at the back seat and both are closedthen i saw the driver of another car that was driving behind me a sport convertible bmw tried to signal something to me when i looked at my right side view mirror while i was driving i saw a tire lying at the freeway,i knew at that time that it was my spare tire/compact wheel that is locatedunder the cargo area on the floor of a vehicle. I tried to exit on the nearest gas station, safely parked as soon as i was walking towards the back of my car to check i immediately saw the compartment tire touching the ground and the tire is gone. The handle is supposed to be screwed and mounted apparently got loose..how it happened i don't know, the cable is cut. I strongly suggest bmw should have a recall on this because this is totally dangerous matter, good thing the driver behind me was alert and when she saw the tire falling from it's compact she immediately change lane and signaled me by pointing her fingerat my car.
While driving my sunroof flew off the vehicle and shattered into pieces.the vehicle was traveling about 35 miles per hour on a city street
There was a very mild rain last two days in madison. Now my car has central lock problem and also wet floor. I'm happy that i was not driving the car while it was raining. I read over the internet that many bmw x3 have this water leakage and electrical problems. A wet interior and a live electrical system, and you know what might happen.
Dt:bmw motorcycle r1200cl, 2004 purchased new, side stand is bending the frame, causing motorcycle to bend over further and further.manufacturer offered to replace the frame. This motorcycle model has been discontinued.
I have been alerted by my local mechanic a few years ago and in 2011 by my local bmw dealer that my left rear coil spring has broken due to rust. I have been told by the local bmw dealer that this is a common occurance for all bmws that operate in the northeast due to salt. The dealer's memo to me states: "if not replaced, worn coil springs will not allow the suspension system to move and adapt to changing road irregularities". The bmw dealer wants $640.24 to replace both rear springs.my vehicle now has 80,000+ miles on it and i cannot afford to have it fixed. The car has always been garaged, as has been our other vehicles, none of which that has had suspension problems due to salt/rust.one vehicle has 280,000 miles on it. This is a major design/performance flaw that may have bad consequences for bmw owners.
Frontal differential and window motor went bad at the same time. The suv only has 80, 000 miles and is having all kinds of mechanical problems already. I bought a bmw because i was under the impression that they build good cars not lemons.
Broken rear spring on 2004 bmw x3 with 50,000 miles.dealer stated this is a common problem on the 3 series and they are beginning to see the same problem on the x3.
A piece of the strut coil spring fell off while my car was parked. It appears to be rusted and just cracked off. I returned to the dealership showing them the piece i found and they advised that this is a normal occurrence and it will cost me over $500.00 to have this repaired. I only have 57,000 miles on my car and i don't feel that i should have to pay for this as the coil appears to be defective.

Copy of email sent to bmw usa re: x3i learned today that my new x3 has no display panel warning light or sound to warn when doors are unlatched or ajar.this type of warning -- often using both panel lights and sound -- has been standard equipment in most cars for the past 20 years to protect passengers, especially children, from accidentally falling out of vehicles.my own bmw dealer refused to believe that my x3 had no such warning device until he finally checked his inventory and found no x3's with any door warning lights or sounds.he said there is no applicable repair or upgrade kit.this exclusion is shocking in view ofbmw's pledge of safety.your us headquarters admitted the exclusion and said there was no explanation for it, adding that it must be intentional since "bmw engineers don't do things acidentally."in the event an occupant is injured or killed in a loose latch door release accident, this exclusion could establish liability.as such, in bmw's own interest, i urge you to contact all owners and immediately launch a voluntary recall of all x3's to install a door/tailgate loose latch warning device on the dashboard display panel.no need to contact me.to avoid retaliation, i have elected not to disclose my name.thank you.copies to us nhtsa, center for auto safety and consumer union
Check oil light came on so vehicle was pulled to the side of the road.within seconds, smoke had engulfed the engine bay.the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames within a few minutes.
Water seeps into the vehicle from an unknown location and causes a mold effect due to saturation of the floor in the back passenger area.door and sunroof weatherstripping have been professionally checked and deemed not the cause.
I purchased a bmw x3 last april.i did not immediately notice that the car did not have any audible or visual warning displays when the car or back hatch is open or ajar before i purchased it.i noticed it right after the purchase and reported it to the engineer who said he would pass on the info.i then took it to the dealership who said they could not help me and ultimately escalated to bmw corporate.bmw indicates there is no safety regulation that requires that the car have a warning system when the car door is open or ajar.the car was designed without that feature.i find this strange since all their other cars, as well as all other cars made today, come standard with this safety feature.my question is whether or not there is any type of regulation concerning this because i need further escalate the issue with the bmw if this is a requirement.
Faulty oil seperator - chronic problems.
The contact owned a 2004 bmw x3. While the vehicle was stationary in the reverse gear, the vehicle independently accelerated rapidly and crashed into five other vehicles. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to the neck, back, and chest. Medical attention was required. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the crash. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
I was in traffic and not moving with my foot on the brake.without warning, my car accelerated and hopped forward, almost hitting the car in front of me.i had to press firmly on the brake and put my car in park, but the engine revved up or squealed, lasting for about forty seconds.the dealership called it 'unintended acceleration' and could not reproduce the problem.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3. While driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated unintentionally. The contact attempted to steer the vehicle away from a parked vehicle but crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle continued to accelerate. The contact applied the emergency brake and powered off the engine. The vehicle came to a stop however, the failure recurred four different times intermittently. On the last occurrence of the failure, the contact crashed into another vehicle and a wooden post. The contact was not injured.the police reported the scene and a report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
Whendriver attemptedto park vehicle in the garage. Vehicle self accelerated violently and crashed through the wall.manufacturer and dealer was contacted the next morning, manufacturer promised to investigate.message left with dealer's ass't shop manager forinstruction, still waiting for call back.
My 2004 bmw x3.0i has a hesitation on acceleration.when i am at a complete stop, and begin to accelerate on the gas pedal, light moving off from a red light, the car does a horrific amount of hesitating on acceleration, almost like someone is coughing, and does this each and every time i come to a complete stop and press the gas peddle. I have tried to get this issue resolved as \i have had this problem since i purchased the vehicle in november, 2007, til this present day, but know one could seem to fix it, until i reviewed the question in a bmw forum, and here is the link that states the reason why:http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/7237/bmw/x3/bmw-x3-hesitation-on-accelerationmy car has 192k, is paid for. I do not know where else to look for answers. I cannot afford to buy a new car at this time, but paid 29k for this high-end, expensive vehicle.i am wondering if your look into this with bmw. Will correct this issue as a manufacturers error because i have no warranty on my car.please assist me in correcting this issue.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw x3. The contact stated that after rainy weather conditions, one gallon of water would accumulate on the front passenger's side floorboard. The failure also occurred whenever the contact was driving through a car wash. The vehicle was notrepaired. The manufacturer had not been notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.
Dt: the contactturned the defogger on to defrost the windows invehicle. Fifteen minutes later he was driving down the road and realized the rear windowhad shattered. He contacted the manufacturer. The vehicle is currently at the dealership to repair the rear window.

My windshield has a crack directly under where the driver's side windshield wiper sits when the wipers are not being used.i brought the car to the dealership and they said it was caused by the dealership and therefore was not under warranty.i contacted an attorney who said that was normal use and therefore it should be covered.when i called the dealer back they stated that they looked harder and it was caused by something falling on it.it is in a location where nothing could have fallen on it unless the wipers where removed from the car which never happened.they refused to fix or replace the windshield.
04 mini cooper s cracked windshield. I washed the windshield at the gas station 10 minutes earlier there was no crack. I was checking the windshield wipers and noticed a crack starting at the base of the windshield near the vin# it was about 3 inches long. Over night it grew to six inches. I know of many mini windshields that develope crack for no reason. This may be due to stress. I will take it into the dealer later today.
2004 mini cooper: front windshield crack began after car was three months old.
Driving @ 60-65 mph on hwy, flat warning light came on. On inspection of wheel there was small puncture in tire and a large, silver dollar size "blow out" of wheel mid portion of wheel remote site from tire puncture. Tire was only 3 weeks old. Deny driving over any large object to cause this type of wheel failure. Brought tire/wheel to ntb (where i bought tire). They believe there was a wheel failure based upon inspection. Several persons at ntb looked at wheel that had seen failures before and are convinced that the wheel failed based upon trajectory of small puncture and the size and location of wheel blowout. Regardless, tire is covered by road hazard and is being replaced.wheel was brought to bmw who disassembled tire from wheel. They state that only thing that could of cased that amount of damage is running over large object such as rebar. This is absolutely false. If ran over any object on highway it must have been small since there was no sensation felt, no noise heard. Only indication that there was a flat was that the tire pressure light came on.bmw has offered to inspect wheel however i believe that wheel is defective and am concerned that there may be others with same defect and may not get honest evaluation. Please advise what to do with wheel.
