I was notified by mail, by bmw about the airbag problem in february. I had not heard from them, so i called today and was told the parts would not even be available for order for another month. Seems like a long time.

Takata recall - the recall happened february 5, 2016.it is now july 29, 2017.that is over a year and a half, and i have yet to be notified by the manufacturer, which means i am way down the list to be fixed.i think a year and a half of diving around with unsafe airbags is enough.another person was killed by exploding airbags just this week, i heard in the news.get mine fixed now!

Takata recall - i am currently stuck with a car that i do not like and have had multiple electrical issues with since i originally purchased it in 2014.i have had every intention of trading this car in, but now with the recall, i am stuck with it.bmw has been totally rude and gives no information on when the airbags will be available.when i brought the car in for service, my service rep said that the good news is that if i died due to the airbag, my family would at least be rich.we have contact bmw and they tell us that the airbag we have isn't really part of the recall, but since all of them have to be replaced, our car is on the list.we are seeing articles that say that bmw has until 2020 to replace it.does that mean i am stuck with this thing?within two weeks of purchasing the car, the sound system died in the car.the car has locked me out of it at the gas station (keys in the car), the alarm has gone off while i was driving the car.it will suddenly sound an alarm that my passenger needs to wear it's seat belt when there is no passenger and nothing is on the seat.and now i have this airbag problem.i do not trust this car, i do not feel safe and bmw has not be helpful at all.

Takata recall.recall letter sent to me march 2016, & my bmw dealership says parts still not available... That i will be notified by mail when parts are in. Please help.

Takata recall. It's been approx 10 months since i was notified of the recall, but bmw has not said when my car will be fixed. They just say the parts are not available. How long can i expect to wait for the fix? is there not a time limit for the recall to be completed?

Takata recall. I got into an accident with my 2014 bmw x1 in the winter of 2015, just a year after leasing this vehicle. A car hit me so hard from behind, that i hit the car in front of me, totaling my car completely. I was sent to the hospital because my airbags failed to deploy. This has caused me thousands of dollars in medical bill that my health insurance did not cover. If the airbags went off, i may not have hit my head and would have saved me from going to the hospital. This recall could have caused others with a more severe accident possible death. Therefore bmw should not only replace the defected airbags but also compensate everyone who risked their lives driving this machine that could have killed them.

I am a widow with two children and am terrified while driving this vehicle. I am my children's only surviving parent and it sickens me to think what would happen if a metal particle sliced my throat and killed me in the event the driver airbag implodes.i was notified of this faulty part in february 2016. The part is unavailable and i would like a loaner while the problem is resolved.

Takata recall - i purchased a bmw x1 sav 2014 from a jacksonville, fl bmw dealer (tom bush bmw orange park) on february 2, 2017.the dealer stated multiple times during the sales process that the recalled airbag was fixed, "so there is nothing to worry about".upon bringing the vehicle to the same dealer for service on april 18, 2017, the dealer stated the vehicle was not serviced for the takata airbag recall.the vehicle is still equipped with recalled airbags.upon demanding remedy, the dealer stated the replacement airbag parts will not be available until fall 2017.therefore, the dealer misrepresented the safety of the vehicle before sale.the dealer refused to provide a loaner or rental vehicle.the dealer further suggested that no persons ride in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Takata recall- i realize that there are millions of cars impacted by the recall of the takata airbags, however, i also am stunned that it has been over a year and the same very dangerous airbags have not yet been replaced in my car by bmw as of this date. Not a comforting feeling!! when i called about it, bmw said that my car is not on a "high priority" list- please have them tell that to my family if i- my husband, or my children- should die in an accident because of the uncorrected airbag situation! is there a way that your agency can help require faster replacements? just wondering.......

"takata recall"i received the notice from bmw back in late february / early march 2016 regarding this recall. It has been nearly nine months now since i received this notice and i am very concerned with the amount of time that it is taking to address the takata airbag situation. I know that it states in one of my notices from bmw that they do not have the parts available at this time and that they will notify me once they have the parts available to do the repairs, but i think 9 months is more than enough time. I am not sure of when bmw first knew that my vehicle had the recalled airbag but it makes me wonder if they sold me the car knowing that the airbag was defective. Thank you for your time.

Takata recall-i was notified over a year ago feb 2016 of the takata airbag recall on my vehicle. I called monthly for a while and was told at one point they are changing the airbags in new dealer vehicles to be sold. I feel current vehicles already sold should be repaired first, not new ones to continue making a profit while we are at risk.

Takata recall - delaer says there are no parts, bmw customer service says there are. Someone is lying.

Vehicle ignition turned over and before 30 seconds i noticed smoke in my passenger side mirror. I exited the vehicle and found a small electrical fire behind the passenger side front door handle. The valet lighting was not involved but i believe it was the touch sensor used to lock and unlock the vehicle. It was raining at the time of the event and i was able to smother the fire with a wet towel after shutting down the ignition etc. Melted plastic and rubber was noted.

Vehicle seatbelts do not cross over chest for me.there is not a seatbelt adjuster like most vehicles have so the seat belt cuts across my neck and locks up on my neck when hitting the brakes.i spoke with bmw consumer and they recommend purchasing a cushion but that still does not resolve the issue.its like the seat belt is choking or strangling me when braking.also my keyless entry does not work from a distance like most vehicles.i have to be on the car pressing and pressing.i had the battery replaced like bmw recommended and it still does not work.however on their new model vehicle the new keyless entries work from a distance.

Driving from a parking slot at carl's jr., my car suddenly accelerated with a loud engine roar, to approximately 80-90 mph, jumped over a curb over an island, run through three parking slots, hit another curb and hit a palm tree-which finally stopped my car- at a distance of about 50-60 feet from my parked position. I was stepping on the brakes for the whole5-6 seconds until my car hit the palm tree. The brake just did not work.mistakenly stepping on the accelerator, is out of the question--with all the jarring and swaying--any idiotwill step on the brake, which i did. I smell gasoline very bad took car to bmw las vegas dealer they found fuel leak on my 2014 bmw x1 but they decline to repair

My husband was driving home from work on paper mill road in newark, delaware and heard a "kerthunk" from the engine. He pulled over to the hard shoulder of the road, saw he had not run over anything, and then saw oil gushing onto the road from the motor. A few minutes later, as he was sitting in the stationary car, he saw the hood of the car starting to bubble. He exited the vehicle and the car went up in flames. The fire department came and extinguished the fire -- that process took around 15 minutes. The delaware state patrol (officer ferguson) arrived on the scene and had the car towed. The car had been maintained by the bmw dealer for a "check engine" light 9 days before the fire. Bmw usa issued a notice in july 2017 about issues with a thermostat in the x1. The thermostat was the only part replaced by the dealer during service (nb: there had also been a normal oil change maintenance at the end of august by the same dealer.)

No injuries were reported and a police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The failure was unable to be duplicated, but the dealer stated that the braking system was operating normally. The failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v627000 (service brakes), even though the failures were identical. The failure mileage was 34,000.

I approached an intersection on a city street where i wanted to make a right turn on to another city street. Since the light was red i applied my brakes slowly and tried to coast to a gentle stop behind of a truck in front of me. As i slowed down to come to a complete stop, my break peddle lost all pressure and the peddle went all the way down to the floor. The car continued to roll and rear ended the truck infront of me. Luckily i had already slowed down considerably before the brakes on my car completly failed. After i rear ended thetruck i put my car into park, then into reverse to back away from the truck. At that point my breaks seam to return to normal function. Fortunately prior to collision i was going slow enough that i lightly bumped the truck's bumper and did not push the truck into the car that was infront of him. His truck was undamaged because i hit his tow hitch, but my license plate and front bumper were slightly dented. When i first bought the car my brake peddle seemed very sensitive, but i recently noticed that my brake peddle has softened up. Afraid to continue driving the car after the incident i had my son drive me home. After doing a little research he found that there is an active recall (nhtsa #14v627000 & #13v454000) for my car (as well as his 2014 bmw 328i) that includes our make, models and years that is consistant with exactly what had occurred. But when we input our vin numbers, our cars are not included in the recalls. We have checked the bmw site as well as the nhtsa sites with the same results. We have schedualed an appointment to have the cars breaks inspected at the bmw dealership, but was informed that the recall repairs may not be performed because our vin does not fall under the included the vehicles.

I purchased the car used from a non-bmw dealer at 40,500 miles in dec. 2016. The vehicle moved leftward when the steering wheel was centered.the dsc/esc malfunction light illuminated along with another esc symbol with an exclamation point presented in the center ip message arealight.the malfunction light would turn off when the engine was shut off.the light came on (and off) several times over 3000 miles. I took the car to a bmw service shop and was told that a steering system fault had been stored, but only once so they didn't do anything except perform an alignment.after service was completed, i picked up the vehicle and found that it still pulled left and the dsc light came on again.i returned to the bmw shop while the light was on and they looked at it again.they ended up aligning the vehicle again and replaced the steering angle sensor. After another few hundred miles the dsc light has not come back on again.

While driving the 2014 bmw x1 at highway speeds (60mph) the front glass panel of the panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded. The explosion caused a shocking boom, and some small fragments of tempered glass fell into the passenger compartment of the car, some fragments blew into the vehicle behind us and some fragments remained shattered in-place. When able to pull over and inspect, the glass seemed to shatter outward, and no object that may have impacted the glass could be found.the manufacturer denies responsibility for the spontaneous breakage, though the service personnel at the dealership said they have seen this happen in several other instances.

Exhaust issue with turbo not having a release valve

My panoramic sunroof exploded while driving on the highway.

This car was parked in my sunny driveway, ambient temp ~85 degrees f.several hours later, i returned to drive it and found the rear glass over the hatch trunk lid broken into thousands of equal parts, but all in place with no indentation or evidence of anything having impacted the glass, such as a limb, rock, baseball, etc.when i touched the glass, it crumbled into the storage area and on the pavement.the autoglass repair place i took it to opined that this has occurred in various vehicles as a result of heat building up inside.if so, this is a serious manufacturing and design defect

While exiting the interstate, i heard a large boom and i noticed flying pieces of glass when i checked the review window.i pulled over, got out of car to look for damagesaw none but could hear glass fragments when i began to move again. I was only blocks from my destination and checked the roof to see the broken moon roof.nothing impacted the car so the window broke on its own.i checked with the dealership and was informed that they have no record of spontaneous breakage of the moon roofs but my son remember seeing a new segment on abc regarding this and sent me the link which is why i am following up with this complaint.i took a picture but don't know how to get it from my phone to this site.
