I started my car in the morning and there was a yellow "air-bag" indicator on my dashboard with a message "driver restraint system fault".it wasn't there the night before.couple of days later, i took the car to dealer and they diagnosed that "driver seat mat sensor and control box" failed and needed to be replaced for $1,237.bmw had a recall on seat mat sensor on prior year models and now its occurring in other year models as well.

Passenger detection mat faulty causing the passenger-side airbag to deactivate and the airbag warning light to illuminate. In 2008 these detection mats were recalled for bmw 7-series through 2006 however they were not recalled on 2008 models. Dealer requires $1.3k to repair.

I have a 2008 bmw 750li and seat belt and airbag light is on will not rest took to dealer light still on. Are there any recall on this vehicle this was involved in a hit run accident.

A warning light is on in the dash saying default airbag. What i need to know is this some bmw is responsible for?

Air bag light comes on and off.

Takata recall.i was involved in a traffic accident which 100% of fault was assumed by the hitters insurance firm. The other driverran through a redlight, at intersection of legacy and hedgcoxe in in plano, tx round 6:40 pm.the airbag did not deploy properly to protect me. The airbag attempted to deploy mere inches andexploded in my face causing hot air and metal to be released andblown into my face an eyes, the fireman on scene helped me out of car and stated that airbag and seat belt did not protect you because your injury is apparent. Subsequently following surgery, my left forearm was repaired with pernmant screws and plate holding my bones together. I suffered neck, back bilateral knees, and two fractures in my ankle. My left hand has extensive painful numbness and shooting pains one year after surgery. I am still grappling with limitations and disabilities to this day. I am a totally different man today after this accident and my doctors concur, this is a medical condition that is of chronic duration.i have all of my documentation including police report, hospital bills pictures of both cars, insurance documents. .. Passenger restraint warning - apparently the passenger seat sensor has failed and the passenger airbags have been automatically disabled. A quick search shows that this seems to be a fairly common problem with bmw passenger seat sensors. There was even a recall for the issue, but the dealer claims my 2008 bmw 750li wasn't included in the recall (only 2006-2007 bmw 750li's). This car was built using the same parts. Shouldn't it be included in the recall list?apparently the problem is so common that people are building "sensor bypass" devices and selling them on amazon/ebay to place the passenger airbags into "always on" mode. This kluge doesn't sound like a very safe solution, since small children could be injured by the airbag system if it deployed unnecessarily.dealer has quoted nearly $1,400 for a fix. Bypass solution less than $100. Seems one has to choose between relative safety or not blowing the savings fund. All to repair an obvious design flaw.

While driving with my wife, i received an on-board light and symbol indicator. Stating that the passenger side airbag and restraint system failure.this is the very same sensor the (oc3 pass side matt) that was recalled in 2006 and 2007 models that had the oc3 sensor.

Door mechanical/electrical problem - door will not lock/unlock.dealer replaced lock mechanism under warranty. It happened again in june 2014, dealer fixed it for $1200. Starting august 2014 i have again this issue. Paying $1200 to fix a problem fixed 3 months earlier is not fair.

Approximately two years ago i began experiencing difficulty filling up with gas at the pump, as follows:after filling 1-5 gallons in the normal manner, the the gas pump shuts offindicating that my gas tank is full, when in fact i've hardly pumped any gas at all. I withdraw the nozzle, reinsert it and begin to pump again.the pump continues to shut off after pumping very little gas.this process must be repeated 10-15 times to fill up the tank. Besides irritating, it's unsafe as i no longer have a reliable indication that the tank is full and i should stop pumping. This leads to overfilling sometimes, where gas spills onto the side of the car, onto the pavement, and once onto my pants. This happens no matter what gas station i use or how empty the tank is.the bmw dealer service advisor says there is a valve in the tank that must be replaced at my cost ($2,500).i think this is a safety issue that the manufacturer should fix.

I unlocked my vehicle to open the driver side door so that i may enter. The door opened as it normally should, i entered the vehicle and attempted to close the door. The door would not latch on to the rest of the car. The door will swing open and in the close position properly, but the latch itself would not operate, therefore it is impossible to drive the car in a safe manner. Upon research and consulting with a german car mechanic, it appears that the "soft close" function of the door failed, causing the latch to seize and become inoperable. The 2005-2007 models for this exact vehicle were recalled on october 28th, 2012 for the same exact issue, however my 2008 model was not included as part of the recall. The 2005-2007 models are identical to the 2008 model, and use all of the same exact parts, including the door latch. The 2008 model should have been included in this recall, as the same defective door latch mechanism is used in this car as well. A simple google search of "bmw 7 series door not closing" also yields several hundred reports of other people having this same issue. Door latches should be designed to last the life of the car, as it is a major safety issue to drive with your door open.

The "transmission fault drive moderately, drive to the nearest bmw dealership" is the message that i got when i was driving one day a few weeks ago, i have 77,000 miles and i had just had a tune up. Of course i took the care tobmw immediately and found out that the power train was bad? the entire transmissionhad to be replaced to the tune of $7000, i knew there were some engine problems with some of the bmw years but i didn't think 2008 should've had any problems as far as the transmission going out at 77,000?

Car started, cold start; symptom was check-engine light popped on; reduced driving power; car vibration; idrive message "?transmission failure; p, n, r, 3, 5, 6 ; drive moderately to nearest bmw dealer ! put on hazard light, drove home 1 mile away car vibration sound noticeable. Very scary and dangerous to have vehicle failure abruptly with no resolution or warning?. My 2008 bmw 750li with 57,000 miles started next day withcheck engine light remained for a few hours then off.this vehicle is garaged well maintained not to mention california good weather conditions. This now has happened 3 times in two months. This should be recalled. I am afraid to take this bmw vehicle too far of distance or on highways due to transmission failure incidents. Major defect.! vehicle becomes resistant to drive when this happens. I almost got in a major collision due to this mechanical defect problem. Should i be killed or injured by an unforeseen accident do to this would be tragic!

While driving with my wife, i received an on-board light and symbol indicator. Stating that the passenger side airbag and restraint system failure.this is the very same sensor the (oc3 pass side matt) that was recalled in 2006 and 2007 models that had the oc3 sensor.

Passenger detection mat faulty causing the passenger-side airbag to deactivate and the airbag warning light to illuminate. In 2008 these detection mats were recalled for bmw 7-series through 2006 however they were not recalled on 2008 models. Dealer requires $1.3k to repair.

The driver side door will not close.the suction mechanism does work and there is no backup system to ensure the door latches.it is a most severe safety flaw.there many complaints of this issue all over the internet for bmw cars.this is definitely a recall issue and the grosses of safety neglect by the car manufacturer. The car was stationary when this occurred.there is currently no recall for this safety flaw which is just completely absurd. Given the many complaints and the fact that this is a 2008 vehicle.

The driver side door will not close shut.this starting occurring intermittently in early may 2016 and took several attempts of lifting the door handle several times before the soft lock would take. Today 22 may 2016, the door failed to close and lock after multiple attempts and extensively exercising the door handles from both inside and outside the vehicle.fortunately the car was not in motion during the many times the problem occurred, but it should be obvious that the vehicle cannot be driven safely if the door does not close.in reading up and educating myself on this defect, this appears to havebeena known issue in the previous year of this same model but for whatever reason, the recall was not extend to the 2008.i love the bmw 7 series particularly this 750, but i will have to end my 12 year marriage of owning bmw's if they choose not to remedy this defect in the 2008.

A suv traveling at 20 miles per hr hits passengerside of a 750 li traveling crossing a 2 way intersection spins the cars in a circle with skid marks on the highway damage the passenger side of the door and the lower panel of car and only there bumper was loose and it was driveable how is that a suvtraveling at such slow speed as i been told can do such do as much damages to a 750 li and the car is totaled

After dropping my daughter (who was sitting in the rear seat of my car) to her school in the morning, i was driving to work.i confirmed that all the doors were closed and latched after she exited the car.just before reaching my work location, the driver side rear door unexpectedly opened while the vehicle was in motion.after stopping, the open door could not be closed or latched again.i called bmw usa about the problem and they told me there is an active recall on my car (us nhtsa campaign id - 17v328000) and i should take my car to dealer to fix.i had to tape the door shut and take the car to dealer to fix the problem.i cannot imagine what would have happened if the door had opened while in motion when my daughter was sitting in the rear seat.the experience has been very scary.

I dropped off my 2008 bmw 750 li on october 11, 2018 to the concord bmw dealer for the door latch recall.recall # 17v-328.i had mentioned to the service writer that the passenger side front door and driver side rear door not close completely sometimes.and occasionally become half closed and dashboard warning light on while driving.the service writer said he will check all 4 doors for this recall.when i pick up the vehicle on october 12, 2018, i discovered that the 2 door latches that still not work properly.i talked to the service writer regarding the door latches still have the same problem prior to leaving.he explained to me that the recall is only for reprogram the defective code and it does not cover the door latch not work repair.i would like to know if the reprogram is a sole remedy for this safety recall. Enclosed please find a copy of the concord bmw dealer's invoice # 888479 dated october 12, 2018.thank you for your kind attention and looking forward to your early reply!

My driver's side door at times doesn't close, when it first occurred, i thought that maybe something was blocking the door preventing it from closing because it seemed to bounce back open, i tried to close it again, i was exiting my car and again it wouldn't close and bounced back open.i jiggled the door handle and on the third attempt the door closed. I didn't think much about it until it happened again when i had exited my car and the door bounced back open.i didn't jiggle the handle this time but attempted to shut it again, and it wasn't until the third time that i tried to shut it again that it finally closed.this has happened two more times and by the third time, i started googling door problems in 750li and saw that there was a recall for 2005 - 2007 for the "soft close" function malfunctioning?this is the exact same problem that is occurring with my 2008 750 li, why wasn't 2008 included in the recall?i had my car into the bmw dealership and they couldn't reproduce the problem but i know that is what is wrong with the car door?

While driving on a city street at 35 mph, the front passenger door unexpectedly unlatched.that door had not been opened in over a week and the door appeared to be closed before this incident.

Door not latching correctly. It unexpectedly opened while driving and would not close back. I had to secure it with a bungee cord to continue home.

I think my door lash on my vehicle's defected sometimes it does seem to be close and sometimes it's not

-----original message----- to bmw n/asubject:regarding comfort access sys recallfm[xxx]to: customer service recall letter no. 12v-502:rollawayto whom it may concern:approximately 4-5 months ago i began have small unusual electrical problems. Where the car would not start, i had to repeatedly depress the start button, to have the car start. Next the remote door soft touch refused to work continuously, but the key fob would operate the door. While we were away i thought since the car battery was the original (installed in 07), i considered that perhaps power may have been the culprit and had aaa replace the battery while away form home.recently 02/11/12, i had to take my 750 to the dealer because i had to drive home manually holding my drivers door closed. The soft close door would not latch.the dealer said it was because of the "comfort access system", and the part had to be replaced at a cost of $1200.00.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Own 2008 bmw 750 w/ soft close doors. Having the same issue as the 2005-2007 750s that have been recalled. At 35 mph, door flew open and i couldn't close. Sometimes it latches and sometimes it doesn't. Cpo just expired 1 month ago. Dealer wants $ 1800 to fix. I know other owners w/ soft close doors - nothing but headaches. Considering the 2008 has the same doors as the 2007, i cannot imagine why the recall didn't extend to the 2008 also.

I began driving the vehicle and the driver's door came open and would not latch afterward.

The passenger side soft door closer stopped working.i had to manually shut the door, and at times the door would not latch and i had to hold it while driving.it was fixed by a certified bmw service provider at the cost of over $1,200.also, the auto trunk stopped working and i now have to close it manually.the certified bmw service provider said that it would cost approximately $800 to fix.

I own a 2008 bmw 750li with soft close doors.the passenger side front door will not close properly.the soft close does not work at all anymore and 9 times out of 10 the door will not close at all.i have to repeatedly try to close the door over and over and over.if this is the same problem as previous models, why is this not part of a recall.

While driving on turnpike heading south. The bmw light came on transmission fault. Reduce acceleration and have your car checked by the nearest bmw. Now this has been going on for about 4-month's. Bmw service has changed the ball joint going into transmission and stated this was the issue. The car would not drive over 40mph with acceleration very high. Pulled over and waited for 5-minutes. Car then cranked and light was still on but disappeared after 1-2 minutes. This event keeps happening. Grant it my car is just over 53k miles and has never been late for any service or recall. Car has been garaged, oil changed regular as stated by bmw. I believe this is a defect in the bmw based on what i have been reading. I think bmw should step up to plate and fix the transmission issue it has having from these $80k cars.
