Airbag and seatbelt restraint fault light is on.
I have read that there was a safety recall on some model of the bmw. And i would like to know why haven't the nhtsa haven't put out a bulletin on the bmw 745li about the seats blets and the airbags. When there are alot of complaints about this problem. I feel that we are driving a very unsafe car. Now on my vehicle the passenger seat belt will not retrack. And i am un able to carry anyone in the front seat. On the driver side i had that broblem to but the seat belt is able to fasten. This happen when i was driving.
We have being having problems with the safety issues of this car, sometimes the car will be fine and all of the sudden it dies completly leaving you stranded, the car will crank over and wont start. We have taking to the shop and we have emails from bmw of north america addressing this issue and they advice the repair shop to replace battery, fuel pump, and some modulators and the problem still not fix. This car is being a money pit. The car was towed again to the bmw service dealership to get diagnosed again for the same problem. Also in this bmw brake lights come on and there is nothing wrong with the brakes, airbag light will come on as well. I used to own a mercedes benz e430 and i never had any problems with it. My husband likes bmw's, but there is nothing but problems one after another very frustrating. Maybe we got a lemon car all alone and we have being paying the price ever since.

This safety issue concerns me and requires immediate attention. Another problem is the oil pressure valve is leaking oil which has caused slippery conditions and unwanted pollutants (dirty motor oil) to seep into the ground because of the continuous leaking.

I was driving on the freeway and the light for the seatbelt tensioner and the passenger airbag came on.this is aserious safety concern since airbags may not deploy and the seat belt may not tighten in an event of an accident.

The contact owns a 2002 bmw 745li. The contact stated that the front passenger air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that the air bag sensor mat was cracked, which in turn deactivated the air bag and made the light illuminate. The failure and current mileages were 81,500.
The telematics and other electronics systems of the vehicle have failed or reported apparently erroneous information on many occasions.in most cases, these failures occur while the vehicle is in the midst of travel, which thereby causes the driver to become distracted from driving while focusing on the system failure.this poses a potential safety issue as it prevents the driver from devoting the needed attention to operation of the vehicle.problems include, but are not limited to:airbag and srs warning messages;service engine messages indicating potential emissions problems;failure of dynamic drive system;inoperability of tire pressure monitoring;erroneous flat tire messages from tire pressure monitor;gas tank gauge reading empty although fule is in vehicle's tank;telephone system failures;failures and freezes of navigation system;failure of audio system which results in having to hold telephone or view navigation screen as audio commands are muted;inoperative voice commands.

Nar 04/10/2003the consumers has experienced numerous problems with there vehicle. The transmission has caused the vehicle to skid to a stop when accelerating on the brake, the passenger air bags light comes on for no reason, and the computer system that control the vehicle and allows it to function has been repaired and reprogrammed 3 separate occasions. The consumer is requesting immediate assistance in resolving thissituation.
Systems failure in rain storm while driving on interstate 95 in broward county, fl. Failure involved windshield wipers, lights, directional signals etc. Which created an unsafe condition as well as quite a surprise for me (the driver).this car has been involved in numerous trips to the dealer to fix computer related problems and this type of complaint seems to be but one of many similar issues experienced by owners of this model.bmw will fix the car and return it to me in a period of approximately 1 week after each incident.

On two occasions the vehicles engine sputtered and shut down when started.on another occasion the engine stalled while driving 50 mph.the dealer indicated that the on board computer was the problem.*mr *scc*nlm
Transmission goes into neutral when i pushbutton to stop car,also logic 7 sound is a problem.
I have replaced my antenator twice now, when i replaced it the first time my generator light kept coming on and off so i replaced alternator and it was still doing it, so i replaced it the 2nd time and now it does not light up the generator light but every other light comes on, looks like a xmas tree on my dash...also my hood is locked and my hood light pops on often.i had a new battery installed and registered and still acts up.every now and again in the mornings my car wont start have to jump start it..jus don't know what else to do bmw a lot of people having this same problem, system not charging correctly...please help
The vehicles main computer failed while driving.this resulted in the vehicle shutting off and almost caused a rear end collision. *nlm
Car stalled and all the lights are flashing on the dash... Will not start back up... Almost had a serious wreck at 75mph car just went off...had no steering and barley made it to the side of the road... Damaged the front end after hitting the curb trying to get off the highway to safety... Had it towed home then to a bmw dealer who told me my cass went out and the computer was not responding and could be many things told me it would cost me over $4k to fix the car... I had the car towed home and it sits in my back yard now and has been sitting there for almost a year... And i am so tired of all the problems with the car... I have tried everything myself to fix it.. And really don't have $4k to give to a dealer to fix it... I wish bmw would do something about this like take the car back and pay me for all the money i have put in this car... Its a beautiful car but has many problems.. Many more than i can afford

After picking up my 2002 bmw 745li from orange county bmw on 3/11/11 with a bill of $1,500.00 dollars for new battery cables and a b-pillar sensor. Transmission failsafe mode light came on. Date 3/15/11; turn signal, horn as well as the wiper blades stop working. Please help.

The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 02v150000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the contact's vehicle was never included in the recall. The contact also stated that the camshaft position sensor was faulty and caused the motor to misfire. Once the vehicle misfired, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the engine failed. The contact believed that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 03v240000 (engine, engine cooling). The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the camshaft sensor and the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 108,000.

My 2002 bmw 745li is having the same problems as reported in nhtsa campaign id number: 03v240000.when i called bmw to ask about the recall they told me that my bmw 745li did not have any recalls under my vin. But the problems are the same as reported on nhtsa.

While having the vehicle servicedfor a flat tire, the contact stated that oil would leak from thevehicle whenever the vehicle was sitting on an angle, inducing the fail safe mode. An unnamed dealer was made aware of the failure and verified that the vin was not included in the nhtsa campaign. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000.

I just came across nhtsa action number : pe11025 and wanted to make you aware of the following:i parked my car in front of my daughter's day care center (the goddard school, suwanee) on the monday before easter in 2010 (march 29, 2010).when i came out, i discovered the car approximately 40 yards away crashed into the embankment of the neighboring parking lot, at an incline of approximately 45 degrees.my car was damaged, as was the landscaping at the crash site, however, no one was injured.in response to my inquiry, bmw indicated that there were no recalls related to issues such as the one i experienced.the repair shop was baffled by the issue as well and said it might be attributable to a faulty parking brake actuator.the vehicle still gives occasional transmission fault error messages and indicators.i had to file an insurance claim and can contact the company for details.i also still have pictures somewhere if someone would like to view them.the repairs (mechanical and body work) were completed at godwin automotive in duluth/johns creek, georgia.the mileage stated above is based on memory and my not be accurate.

Transmission jerks and goes to neutral.sometimes it goes into a failsafe mode and once the car is restarted returns to normal.

Bmw, it's dealer and headquarters have known about this problem and are unable to resolve or fix it. Additional problem with this vehicle is a shimmy from the front end of the vehicle.

On february 25, 2011 my brake light came on.i felt a difference in the performance when that happened and decided to take it to the bmw dealer the following business day to address that and some other problems i was having.one of the problems that the service tech found was the vacuum pump in the brake system.said that the vacuum pump was leaking oil.normally i research recalls on my vehicle, but because i have only had it a short period of time, i didn't do it until today.while searching bmwusa site for recalls, i discovered that on march, 2011 bmw issued a letter to owners referencing recall campaign number 10v-446: brake vacuum pump.it stated that certain 2002-2010 5, 6, 7 & apline b7 models were apart of this recall.because it seemed like my car was having this same problem and it was a 2002 7 series, i decided to contact bmwusa.they told me that there is no actual recall out there and that they would look into the matter further and give me a call back.i find it really outrageous that my vehicle is experiencing this problem that bmw itself was aware of back in march, 2011 and is being told that this is not an actual recall according to bmwusa. Especially when bmw stated in their memo that this could possibly result in a crash.i value my life and everyone around it and i feel that if i call your company with such an issue that you have acknowledged yourself, this should be a recall!they mentioned something to the fact that there has been no complaints of this issue.if you are aware of the problem, why do you need complaints?are you waiting for something to happen, instead of preventing something from happening?i would surely appreciate nhtsa looking into this matter, as i am sure many other people have been effected by this same problem & not even know that a possible recall was out there.
Recall campaign no. 10v-446, bmw brake vacuum pumpi receive the recall paper from bmw in mail. I called to schedule the service with bmw dealer. They denied to quote if my car that would be delivered on the schedule they give me would be ready in 4 hours time they quoted or same day, and if not do they provide me a loaner? they denied all my request, meaning completing the service same day or providing me the loaner. I called bmw center and amazingly they were trying to pass me to dealer, and they were insisting that this is the dealer call. I tried to let them understand that the car is taking to bmw service center because of bmw fault and not mine, and they can not get my means of transportation without providing me a loaner, or they quote and do the job same day. It seems bmw management believe this is a favor to the customers, and do not want to agree and accept that they have pu thousands of lives in danger for many years, and they are responsible to ix the cars in a way not to hassle the customers. I am filing this complaint on bmw management behavior and irresponsibility towards customers.

Problems with vehicle's bumper protection moldings, step plates, numerous blind spots while driving. *mr the step plate in each door of the vehicle was not compatible with the quality of the vehicle, the bumper protection molding was defective , and the design caused numerous blind spots behind the vehicle from the driver and passenger side and the rear view. *scc

I have had my 2002 bmw 745li to the dealer twice for the same complaint & it's doing it again. The problem is that the car will frequently not respond when accellerating. This can be dangerous if you're turning a corner with someone behind you or accellerating to pull around someone on the freeway.
