Under normal load battery can become discharged even while driving causing total shut down.the car completely shut down on my while driving it due to faulty design of alternator clutch (efficient dynamics)there are countless reports of this issue through bmw forums for model years 2010 and 2011 of 550i gt.in my specific case, the vehicle experienced total electrical power loss while driving after 20 miles on highway.all warnings went off and engine shut down while car was moving.battery is only 6 months old and tests to have no trouble.i am afraid this could happen while at speed and cause an accident.http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=672462

Complain: battery not replaced while under warrantytook 2010 bmw 550i gt to the shop to check on a weak battery. Service report indicated side lights of the vehicle were left on for 2 hours and 40 minutes that caused the battery failure.facts:-mileage when the fault occurred was indicated at 58091km = 36096 miles-odometer reading when brought to shop was 36184.- received vehicle on feb 1, 2013 @ 27291 miles.-from 2/1/2013 to 9/10/2013 there are 155 working days.-total miles driven up to 9/10/2013 was 8805 (36184 ? 27291).so my average daily mileage is 56.8 miles.-if the fault occurred at 36096 miles that means it was less than two days before car in the shop.it would be either friday 9/6/13 or over the weekend of 9/8 or 9/9 which was the second time warning came on.-the symptom first occurred at least two weeks before can in shop.since the fault reading indicated some electrical equipment was left on for 2:40 hours, the warranty was rejected.for this to happen, one of the following events must occur for the battery to be drained for that extended period of time.1.the car door was left open for 2:40 hours but the car key must be in the vicinity of the car2.someone sat in the car for 2:40 hours and turned on the radio3.somehow some of the lights of the car were turned on for this extended period of timefrom what i can tell and experimented with the car, none of the above could have happened.1.if the car key is not in the vicinity of the car, no lights or electrical equipment will be turned on for that long period of time.2.if the car is locked then all lights are cut off anyway.3.no one sat in the car for 2:40 hours and not in motion.this tells me either there is an electrical leak or the battery prematurely lost its efficiency.in either events, the battery should be covered under warranty but refused by bmw.

Need valve stem seals which is extremely expensive $5,000.00. Can't afford, so car is just sitting. Any help will be a blessing.

There is a recall on all bmw n63 vehicles for excessive oil consumption bulletin b001314) customers care package. My bmw is consuming oil and white smoke is coming out the tailpipe. I took my vehicle to bmw and they refuse to perform the necessary repairs included in the ccp my crankcase valves also the cooling hoses all this is included in the class action suit they claim i have a engine leak. The engine is leaking because the valves are worn and need to be changed i need help getting them to conform to the ccp.

The contact owns a 2010 bmw 550i gran turismo. The engine caught fire while the vehicle was parked. The fire department extinguished the fire, but a report was not filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the auxiliary water pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

The contact was informed that the power train software needed to be reprogrammed. The contact stated that the drive train software was updated, but the failure recurred ten times. The vehicle was repaired per the manufacturer recall number: n63 (power train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 101,500.

This is a 2010 bmw 550i gt with the sport package.it has the star spoke wheels and run flat tires.the tires and wheels are original from the factory.the low tire indicator came on so we took the tire in to have it repaired.the right rear tire had an industrial staple in the middle the tread.bmw would not repair the tire because they will not patch a run flat tire.we were therefore forced to purchase a new tire.the tire had 17k miles on it and still had a lot of tread.bmw ordered a new tire and put it on.when we came to pick up the car the tire was flat.bmw took it back and found that the wheel was cracked.we did nothing to crack this wheel.we had it looked at by a tire shop and they said there was nothing done to this wheel.the wheel doesn't have a scratch on it.it just cracked under normal use.i have reported this to bmw and they just say its not covered.i know its not covered, but they are not even interested enough to send an engineer out to look at it. This is a very dangerous condition on a car that has a speed limiter set at 150 mph, yet bmw does not seem interested in it.i still have the wheel and tire.
