Restrain system error message in my radio screen also air bag light came on, this message came on sudendly for no reason, car never envolved in a accident,
My vehicle is a 530i with a production date in december 2003, it is my contention that the vehicle should be subject to recall rcdnn-04v575. Despite the december 2004 notice to ntsha indicating that 100% of vehicles with the seat heating option produced between june 17th 2003 and april 30th 2004. Bmw insists that my vehicle (production date in december 2003 and containing the seat heater in question) is, according to internal documents which they will not release to me, not in fact subject to the recall. What i find inexplicable and beyond belief, is that they would issue a notification to ntsha in november 2004, a full six months after allegedly remedying defects in cars produced from mid-march 2004 through april 30th 2004 without correcting those dates in the notification letter. Bmw refuses to repair or even inspect my passenger side seat bolster heating element despite clear evidence that it is in fact defective and subject to the recall.
Approximately three years ago, the warning light came on indicating that the passenger side airbag was not functioning. I have attempted to have this repaired under the recall notice id# 73368 - airbags: frontal, but have been refused by the local dealer and by the phone support at bmw. This is a safety hazard and should be repaired by bmw.
I am reporting a problem with the srs passenger restraint system of my 2004 bmw 530i. The warning light is on the instrument cluster and the message on the information screen states that there is a problem in the 'passenger restraint system'.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the passenger air bag and seat belt warning lights illuminated while there was no passenger present. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was confirmed that the passenger front seat sensor mat needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 08v384000 (air bags:frontal). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 100,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. While attempting to start the vehicle, "pass restraint system, fault in passenger restraint system, affecting air bag belt tensioner or belt force limiter" displayed across the message board. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the front passenger seat sensor mat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i.the contact stated that the air bag indicator system is deactivated and remains illuminated.therefore, the air bags would not deploy.the sensor underneath the passenger seat has cracks in it and needs to be replaced.the repair would cost between $1,300-$1,600.the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags:frontal).the failure mileage was 60,000.
While driving my car, with my wife as a passenger, i've noticed that the "passenger airbag off" light is still on (even though there is a passenger in the seat). I went to the stevens creek bmw dealership to diagnose the issue and they said that the reason the passenger airbag light is on is because the sensor is not sensing a passenger due to cable corrosion. That seems odd, given i keep my car in the garage and it never had any water damage. Also, i believe that it is a poor engineering on bmw's side, since in case of corroded cable or faulty sensor the default behavior should be to always keep the airbag "on". It is better be safe than sorry and (in case of accident) deploying an airbag when there is no passenger is better than not deploying an airbag when there is a passenger... This is a case of "potentially saving someone's life" vs "potentially saving a few dollars"...
A dash warning light, on my 2004 bmw 530i appeared last week while regular driving. The warning light states "malfunction with front passenger air bag, not working properly, wear seat belt and have your car serviced".i found out that there was a safety recall for the front passenger airbag malfunction in 2008. I contacted my bmw service center and they stated that my vehicle did not qualify for the repair of the default airbag because my vehicle vin#.the safety recall is on 5 series bmw for the year 2004 and 2005. My vehicle front passenger air bag is definitely malfunctioning and all i request is for the repairs to be made at no cost to me from the bmw center.i hope that a severe incident does not have to occur before someone takes responsibility and correct what is wrong.,i hope you can help me out in each and every way.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Passenger restraint system failure.due to faulty passenger seat sensor mat.same year and model vehicles under recall/extended warranty - for unclear reasons my car not included in recall (checked by vin and with dealer) but was under extended warranty.spoke with bmw and they are unable or unwilling to explain why my car is not included in recall.failure occurred 2 months after extended warranty expired.see nhtsa campaign id # 08v384000.
Passenger seat occupancy sensor failure. This failure has disabled the airbags on the passenger side of the vehicle. In the event of an accident, any passenger in the vehicle would not be protected by the airbags. There was a recall on my2004-2006 bmw 5-series models (along with numerous other models) for the passenger seat occupancy sensor. Bmw of north america has advised me that my vehicle (per vin) is not a part of the recall. However, i am experiencing the same fault as outlined in the recall issued by bmw na. Neither my local dealership, or bmw na is willing to cover this failure. This is a significant safety issue for any passengers in the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the passenger's side air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
I am afraid to have anyone sit in my car because the airbag might not work! i work with the united methodist church and i often transport children. Bmw issued the below recall but they did not include my vin...but i am having the same issue. This is a safety issue!!!!! ---------------------------------statement on voluntary recall involving front passenger seat sensor mat on u.s.a. Model bmws - august 13, 2008today, bmw announced a voluntary recall regarding the front passenger air bag seat sensor mat involving approximately 200,000 model year 2004-06 vehicles. Affected are certain model year 2006 3-series, model year 2004-06 5-series, and model year 2004-06 x3 vehicles, depending upon seat type. Bmw has found that the sensor mat may become damaged during vehicle usage depending upon the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit.bmw will begin sending customer letters in late september 2008. Affected owners may continue to drive their vehicles; however, customers should contact their bmw center if the air bag warning lamp, and the passenger air bag ''on-off'' lamp are illuminated simultaneously. In this situation, bmw recommends customers not to use the front passenger seat and have the vehicle serviced immediately. At the present time, we are unaware of any accidents or injuries as a result of this issue.
Sensors in front bumper both went out, disabling the passenger airbag. Module in steering column goes out causing driver airbag to become disabled. Module in steering column also disabled horn. In summary, driver and passenger airbags are disabled as well as the horn. How can i drive my car like this??

The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. While parked, the contact noticed that the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The technician stated that the air bag mat sensor would have to be replaced. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 08v384000 (air bags:frontal) that may be related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.
Upon starting the vehicle the air bag and seat belt indicator lamp illuminated and the computer indicated a fault in the air bag system.
I am writing to see if i can obtain some assistance with a problem i have been having with the safety equipment on my 530i, specifically the passenger side airbag.early in 2012 i noticed that when my wife sat in the passenger seat the air bag light on the overhead light unit would occasionally come on. It would not stay on for long but would come on and off periodically.i made an appointment withbmw on may 12 to have the issue looked into.the car had 87437 miles on it at this time. They told me there was no problem with the system as no codes were stored for a problem with the airbag. They could not explain why this was occurring.since this time the frequency of the light coming on has increased. I returned to concours bmw on march 24, 2014 for the same issue. I was told that the air bag may not work and to fix it would cost $1724.00.bmw said the safety information module was bad.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that the front air bag light remained illuminated. The airbag light is on in my car, as well as seat belt light. It appears the after doing some research that the pad in the passenger seat has failed with very low miles, and very little use. All of these cars with these pads in the passenger seats should be replaced under recall. There was a previous recall to reposition the pad or something to avoid cracking, but these safety related parts are clearly junk that were installed when new weather they were reworked, or repositioned in the seat. Bmw should be replacing all these seat sensor pads under recall and soon, many of these cars now have non working airbags due to this issue, and it affects the safety and functionality of the car all together. Model years affected are 2004 2005 2006 2007 at the very least it seams after reading extensively on the issue.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. While operating the vehicle, the air bag sensor light and the seat belt sensor light would illuminate along with a message indicating that the front passenger seat restraint system was faulty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 108,800.
This an update of nhtsa id number: 10557262. I took my car into the dealer it was confirmed that my car did have a faultyfront passenger seat sensor mat that was covered by recall for some cars my model year but not mine. What was upsetting is the dealer informed me that this part was replaced in 2007. The recalled was issued in 2008 but did not include my vin. Now, the sensor mat is bad again...yet my vin does not have the same recall problem?i understand bmw na could care less about this cost and after owning 4 bmw(s) this may be my last. I spoke to bmw on the phone...and i might as well been talking to my local ford dealer. They offered no help with cost or service...for an air-bag malfunction. If they do not care about my passenger's life.....i do care enough to let them know how upset i am with them.
Turn on car and was warming up when airbag light when on and a error code said faulty passenger airbag restraints.
Owner of a 2004 bmw 530i . Upon starting my car one morning for my trip to work, the passenger air bag malfunction indicator lamp came on, reflected on the dash near the speedometer. There was no movement of the car at that time. I made an appointment with my local bmw dealer, and after having it evaluated, was told my problem is not covered under a warranty ... That it would cost me $887.08 plus tax just to repair it (replace module, program vehicle, passenger door airbag faulty). I do not believe this to be true, that the air bag malfunction is not covered, as too many other owners (from my research via the internet) of this vehicle have had the same issues with similar mileage.
A warning light for the airbag system in my vehicle came on so i took the car to an authorized bmw repair shop to have problem fixed.they told me that there was a recall on this item and to contact the local bmw dealership to have them address the issue. When i contacted the local bmw dealer and explained the problem, they checked my vin and said it wasn't affected.i subsequently looked up safety recall info on this site and viewed ea08-001 along with pe07-045 and the associated letter from bmw north america dated july 18, 2008i called my local bmw dealer once more and provided them this new information where i feel my car is applicable under this recall.once again, they said that my car was not affected and i should contact bmw north america, which i did. The customer service rep for bmw checked my vin and said, sorry but my vehicle wasn't affected.i disagreed with her and asked to speak to a managerregarding this recall.i spoke to the manager and explained that i was having trouble understanding why my vehicle was not affected, especially since my vehicle clearly is experiencing the failure and falls with the inclusive dom for the subject vehicles regardless of vin. She explained the process and stated the that she was sorry but my car wasn't affected, the recall was closed and there was nothing that could be done about it anyway.she suggested that if still have an issue to contact your office and file a complaint.i would like have someone look into this complaint and consider reopening it based upon the above. I feel that there are perhaps other owners who may be experiencing the problem as well, especially since the bmw letter states in para. 4 "the % of vehicles est. To actually be affected by this issue is unknown" this is a safety issue identified by bmw and i feel that they should be responsible for repairing the airbag issue on my vehicle.
The front passenger seat occupancy detector has a fault which incapacitates the passenger front air bag. This creates an extremely unsafe passenger situation in the event of a crash. The bmw sbsr system shows fault 0095b8.this specific issue is a known bmw problem and has issued a recall, but bmw has indicated my vin is not covered for this issue for some unknown reason.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The driver states for about 6 months he has been having air bag problems. The driver was driving at about 45mph when the air bag light came on. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for repairs and the owner was charged $100.00. The air bag light was turned off but it turned back on a couple days later and it has remained on. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage is 90,000. Ar
The front passenger air bags is deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp is illuminated.this issue is the same as the2004 bmw 5 series frontal airbag recall ( #08v384000), but for some reason when i contacted bmw at 1-800-525-7417 and provided them my vin number they said it wasn't covered under the recall.please review and reconsider as this is a serious defect that needs to be addressed.
The vehicle airbag system is malfunctioning. There were recalls related to the bmw but my vehicle doesn't appear to be included in this recall when i search by vin number. I contacted the dealer and they said my vehicle isn't covered. The airbag light and restraint light is on and my head unit says there is a fault in my passenger restraint system.
My 2004 bmw 530i has both the seatbelt and airbag light on display at all times on my dashboard. These lights on are caused by a faulty front passenger seat occupant detection mat which bmw has an extended warranty on.after dropping my car to the bmw dealership to get this repaired, i was informed my extended warranty expired roughly 2 months prior and i cannot have this work performed under warranty.they charged me $140 for the diagnostics and said i would have to pay $1050 out of pocket to get repaired.i immediately reached out to bmw of north america and informed them of my situation as this occurred while my vehicle was still under warranty.i was hoping they could fix my car in good faith as this is a known issue or even provide me with a discounted repair.unfortunately two months went by with no response.when i reached out again they said no this is not their headache and i am responsible for all costs and repairs related to this.this is a serious malfunction which i am surprised is not considered a recall.in the safety recall notice itspecifically states if both warning lamps are illuminated simultaneously, bmw recommends not to use the front passenger seat until the vehicle has been serviced.also, the safety recall notice says that the front passenger airbags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system will not be possible.obviously this is a huge safety issue which bmw needs to address.an extended warranty on such a sensitive matter is not sufficient and a recall should be issued.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The dealer replaced the mat and passenger side seat belt buckle, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified, but the nhtsa campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags:frontal), did not include the vin. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage was 160,000.

I have my car routinely servicedwith a certified bmw technician at a bmw service center.recently my technician told me my car gave a code for passenger airbag failure. My car has been in no accidents. Currently i have a "fault detection" of the front passenger airbag sensor.if someone were to sit in the front passenger seat and if the vehicle sustained any front end damage, the front passenger airbag would not deploy. As of now the vehicle cannot determine if someone is sitting in the front passenger seat or not. This failure will not allow the front passenger airbag to deploy if the vehicle were in a collision.bmw is fully aware of this issue. Infact, they have stated that cracks are caused due to getting in and out of the vehicle on the passenger side, as a result, the airbag sensor fails in the front passenger seat.there has been a recall for this code however, bmw claims my car is not covered. The year, make, model and seat all qualify for this recall.safety is a very serious concern and i cannot see how this cannot be covered.
I just bought a 2004 bmw 530i with only 27,000 miles but that passenger side sensor that detects whether the seat is occupied was not functioning so the airbag warning light was on.we had to pay close to a thousand dollars to install a new sensor.my complaint is to know why a manufacturer is not responsible to make sure the supplemental restraint system is working properly when the car is so new.bmw north america was very evasive when contacted but the car was out of warranty that had expired five months ago.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact was driving at an unknown speed on normal road conditions when the "passenger air bag" warning light indicator illuminated on the instrument panel.the warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer.the vehicle was repaired under the service warranty. The identical failure occurred after the prior repair. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags:frontal).however, the vin was excluded from the recall defect. The vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction at this time. The failure mileage was 36,000.the current mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the failure was caused by cracks in the passenger seat, which could also cause the air bag light to come on and prevent air bag from deploying in a crash. The dealer and manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in recall campaign 08v384000, air bags, frontal which was related to the failure. The failure and current mileages were 90,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i.the contact noticed that the air bag warning indicator would constantly illuminate on the instrument control panel, which indicated that the front passenger air bag was inoperative.he called the dealer in reference to nhtsa campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags:frontal) and was informed that they were waiting for a response from the manufacturer.the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that they were in the process of creating a vin range and will then send out recall notices.the vehicle could be repaired at the cost of $3,000, after which the contact could inquire about reimbursement.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 67,000 and current mileage was 72,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i.while driving approximately 35 mph on normal road conditions, the passenger side frontal air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel.the indicator remained lit until the engine was turned off.there was an occupant seated in the front passenger seat at the time.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and they stated that the failure was due to the front seat occupancy sensor.the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags, frontal), although the failures were identical.the vehicle has not been repaired.the vin was not accepted by the system.the failure mileage was 26,000 and current mileage was 41,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that while sitting in the passenger seat the air bag light came on indicating that the passenger side air bag malfunctioned. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who informed the contact that the mat which holds the sensor cracked. This was a known failure with this year make and model vehicle. The manufacturer issued a recall regarding the air bags:frontal (08v384000) but thevin was not a part of the recall.previously the contact had the air bag sensor replaced in the passenger seat in 2006 at 33,000 miles but the seat had malfunctioned again.the contact stated that this was a major safety issue because the air bag may not deploy if the vehicle was involved in a serious crash.the failure mileage was 77,000.
The passenger air bag and seat belt lights were lit on my 2004 bmw 530i.this is the same symptom as described in the recall campaign number 08v384000 / nhtsa action number ea08001.i have never received a recall letter from bmw.i learned about the recall in feb / 2010 and took the car to bmw dealer.i was told my car is not covered by the recall and i was charged for labor to replace the passenger seat occupancy detector mat (part # 52-10-9-142-348).i believe my car should be included in the bmw recall campaign.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i.the contact stated that his bmw passenger sensor mat activates on the instrument panel to alert him that the air bags will not deploy on the passenger side in the event of a crash.the dealer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags:frontal), although the failures were identical.the failure mileage was 60,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. She noticed that the air bag warning light is consistently illuminated on the instrument panel indicating that the air bag is inoperative for the passenger front seat. A technician at the dealer on several occasions stated that for unknown reasons the air bag sensors are not properly detecting the occupation to active the air bag. The codes were reset; however, immediately after the repair the failure resurfaced. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure milegae was 68,000 and the current mileage is 84,000. The contact owns a 2004 bmw 320i. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact replaced the battery and was able to start the vehicle. The battery was replaced four times. The contact discovered that water entered the battery compartment, causing the failure. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 12v126000 (electrical system:battery:cables) but was unaware if the vehicle was included in the recall because he no longer owned the vehicle and the manufacturer would not provide any information. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Subject: 2004 bmw 535ion october 30,2012 just after hurricane sandy hit the east coast of new jersey, i had occasion to use my 535i. While driving i noticed various warning and fault lights flashing on the control panel, loss of power and the cabin began filling with smoke. With great difficulty, i managed to pull across several lanes to the side of the multi-lane highway i was on (route 42n). Upon inspection i found 6-8 inches of water in the trunk wheel well. Under the spare tire i observed a burning and smoking msm power module. I subsequently brought the car to my local bmw dealer in turnersville, nj. The dealer refused any liability or fault for the $3000 repair which included replacing and relocating the msm power module, replacing the radio system, cleaning water stains from the hood liner and trying to alleviate the smoke odor. I came to find out there was a service bulletin to relocate the msm power module higher in the trunk from its original position at the bottom of the wheel well. The dealer lied and told me water has leaked into the trunk via loose trunk rivets.i later determined the water entered the trunk following clogged sunroof drains. The dealer did not deny that could have happened but refused to cover the damages. Bmw should be sued as i've determined this issue is not atypical and could lead to a disaster. Nearly every bmw suffers from failed wiring in the headlights. This should be addressed as a recalled oint of failure as it involves everybody on the road.
There was a burnt plastic odor, shortly after that smoke came out of the trunk. A cable connected to the battery came loose which cause the power module to burn out. There was a power outage throughout the car, the noticeable ones included; the radio (no image was displayed on the screen and no sound); the car alarm was not working and the bing sound alerting key in ignition, seatbelt not strapped, etc. Was not working.
Driving north on i-77 in s.c. - traveling along with the traffic flow - left hand lane - suddenly alert lights came on that abs was not operating, battery alert (had battery installed at dealership) etc.- engine quit - dash board went blank - was able to get to the curb lane (no turn indicators) came to stop - tried to restart -no luck -wait maybe 10 minutes it restarted -drove home -approx another 200 miles -dealer could not find any problem - it could have been a dangerous situation if someone panicked.
Car was going to be purchased on 8/24/2012 was told to drive for the weekend.on 8/27/2012 around 3:00 in the morning (after filling with fuel the prior evening) we heard a loud explosion, then followed by firetrucks and ambulances.upon inspection the bmw in the parking garage was engulfed in flames, windows had blown out.according to fire marshall fire started at battery in trunk and was ignited by gasoline vapors. Caused major fire damage to car parked next to it as well.
My vehicle is a 530i with a production date in march 2004,it is my contention that the vehicle should be subject to recall rcdnn-04v575.despite the december 2004 notice to ntsha indicating that 100% of vehicles with the seat heating option produced between june 17th 2003 and april 30th 2004.bmw insists that my vehicle (production date in march 2004 and containing the seat heater in question) is, according to internal documents which they will not release to me, not in fact subject to the recall.the malfunction described in the recall notice happened exactly as described, burning a hole through my driver seat side bolster.despite agreeing to remedy the driver side damage to my satisfaction, bmw contends that they are under no obligation to repair or even inspect the passenger side seat bolster, which i contend is defective and was subject to the recall.i have emails from bmw stating my vehicle is not subject to the recall and acknowledging that no recall repairs had occurred they are claiming i am not entitled to view the internal documentation that allegedly shows that the defect was remedied before the vehicle was delivered off the production line.what i find inexplicable and beyond belief, is that they would issue a notification to ntsha in november 2004, a full six months after allegedly remedying defects in cars produced from mid-march 2004 through april 30th 2004 without correcting those dates in the notification letter.bmw refuses to repair or even inspect my passenger side seat bolster heating element despite clear evidence that it is in fact defective and subject to the recall. I would like that problem remedied as prescribed in the recall notice or definitive proof produced that the repair was conducted or alternatively that the redesign was in place on the passenger side seat bolster before delivery of the vehicle..
While driving on highway i noticed a smell of burning matter rapidly increasing in the car, immediately followed by a sharp burning sensation in my right thigh. While half-standing i was able to maneuver my car to the highway shoulder. (which was very difficult to do safely, given the traffic was dense and moving with highway speeds.) after i pulled over, turned off the car, came out of the vehicle and looked at the seat, i noticed a burn mark on the leather, exactly where my thigh was when it got burned. It seemed that the seat warmer overheated and burned a hole in the leather. I ventilated the car from the burning odor, which gave enough time for the seat to cool down. After getting to a safer location i tested my theory by turning on the seat warmer ? the issues was reproducible. I went to stevens creek bmw dealership for diagnostics and repairs. They charged me $210.88 diagnostic fee and quoted with around $1,500 for the repairs, implying that they will not fix this issue as ?a good will? since my car is too old and has too many miles on it and that it has none of the warranties left. I still think they should have fixed it as "a good will" since the dealership diagnosed a short circuit in the seat warmer. The seat warmer should have failed in a fail-safe way by not warming or at least blowing a fuse (and age & miles have little to do with poor engineering).
The wire harness for both headlights in this vehicle are completely frayed. Bare copper wires can be seeing and the lights are inoperative. In addition to night driveability being and issue, the potential for a short circuit and fire under the hood exists. A cursory internet research shows that this is common issue with several bmw model years, potentially affecting thousands of drivers.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i.the contact stated that the passenger side restraint system warning light was illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the passenger seat mat needed to be replaced because the sensor was faulty.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure yet no repairs were performed.the current and failure mileage was 130,000.
There is currently a recall on my 2004 bmw 530i regarding the seat warmers burning the leather and driver.however, the recall covers the backrest and not the seat bottom.after talking to bmw north america, they said the seat bottom was not covered.can you make them include the seat bottom in the recall?the seat warmers are burning through the seats in both places, and is hot enough to burn the driver in both places.
Idrive is totally black, including all dashboard functions, no wipers or power to windows, only my engine runs.i was told by the dealer that water got into the sunroof and leaked to the truck near tire and cause two gaskets to burn out.i am told that the cost to repair is $1650 or $2950 depending on which option i choose.i am also told that the problem may return.this problem appears to be a manufacturer issued but the consumer has to pay out of pocket for the repair cost, even though through no fault of our own the problem exists.
Both electric windows had to be replaced because the motors died within weeks of each other. I was unable to open the doors properly or put the windows down. Also i only have 10000 miles on my mini and my tale pipe rattles like a '56 chevy. The light on passenger visor does not work. The silver is peeling off the gear shift. I love my car hate the little stuff that keeps going wrong.
Thewiring inside the headlights are all crumbling and exposing the copper within creating an electroncal fire or shorting of the system.this appears to be very common on the e60 series bmw and should be addressed.
Driver tail light lamp assembly electrical connector overheated, melted and destroyed #1 contact pin and wire. Driver side tail light assembly no longer operate. Brake and signal lighting system degraded exposing vehicle occupants to increased risk of rear-impact, possible electrical fire and death. No part or the light assembly was not subject to any extreme use conditions. No excessive moisture was introduced to the trunk area where the light assembly is located.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that when he opened the trunk in the rain there were sparks and smoke emitting from the microprocessor (mpm), located under the spare tire well. As a result, the air bag sensor, i-drive and severalelectrical components on the vehicle were no longer functioning.the manufacturer advised the contact that the dealer couldrepair the vehicle at his expense. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i.on three separate occasions, the windshield wipers moved back and forth, the headlights flashed on and off, the odometer dial moved from side to side, and the alarm sounded.all of the failures occurred automatically.the instrument panel read, "vehicle malfunction, see dealer immediately".the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice.the first time they could not duplicate the failure; however, the second time they stated that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced at the cost of $2,000.the current mileage was 89,000 and failure mileage was 80,000.
The heated leather seat for my bmw 2004 530 i malfunctioned and burned a hole from a small fire through the seat.
There was a burnt plastic odor, shortly after that there was smoke coming out of the trunk. There was a cable connected to the battery that come loose, which caused the power module to burnt out. There was power outage throughout the car, the noticeable ones included: the radio (the screen was completely black and there was no sound); the car alarm; and the bing alerting sounds that goes off when key is in ignition, seatbelts are not strapped, etc. Were not working. My technician change the power module then he noticed that the cable that came loose only disconnects when there is a car accidents as a precaution, just the same way the airbags deflate. He advised that it was a manufacturing defect that could lead to an explosion. When i informed bmw center about this problem they said it had nothing to do with a defect that it was "wear and tear", but then again they didn't bother to diagnose it, they didn't even bother to take a look at it!
The headlight assembly produced by hella contains apparently defective wiring.the insulation on the electrical wires to the high beam bulbs and the parking light bulbs deteriorates and crumbles off leaving exposed electrical wires in the headlight assembly.moving the wires during removal and replacement of bulbs caused the insulation to break off completely.the problem was just discovered, but was obviously in a state of decay for a long period of time.
In july my car was short of oil and the following parts were replaced cyclone seplerator with updated kit and replaced separator with updated parts including dipstick tube.had oil changed on 9/16/11, on road at 2:00 a.m. In the morning and the oil level low light came on again.had to pull off the road for fear of perm. Damage to engine.in town where there were no stores open to buy oil,i though the oil leakage situation was taken care of. Added 1.5 quarts of oil, returned home to take it back to dealer with the mileage 69731 and it was a quart short. They stated there were no leaks and i was informed per sib 110584 1 quart of oil is allowed to be consumed per 750 miles.i informed the dealer this car never consumed oil before. Had i known that it consumed oil i would not have paid 1308.00 to replace the parts. I would have traded the car.very disappointed and this could be dangerous.
Bmw x5 accelerator failed to respond after stop at traffic lights. It moved forward slowly for about 20 yds. Before deciding to engage...this happened three times, consecutively, at the end ofdrive home.around noon on tuesday october 14, 2008. The day before the internal door lock button failed to function. Called bmw dealership and had it towed.bmw continue to test but was informed last evening that there appeared to be nothing wrong with vehicle according to the computer! this is a major safety issue and bmw [central] have not been supportive so far. I have asked that the car be fixed and that i be supplied with a loaner until then.
2004 bmw 530i with only 54,000 miles (6 yrs of ownership)- on sunday morning, my engine won't start on 1/31/2010 all of sudden.- called aaa for battery check and jump start but it was not a battery issue per aaa.- towed my car to my bmw dealer for check up- bmw dealer checked and told me my engine is dead and need to replace it with a new engine. It would cost $13,000 (this is ridiculous.)- i told them it must be engine defect and check this for me and tell bmw hq- my dealer checked my maintenance record with them and they are trying help and find out what was the issue with the engine. They don't understand either.- dealer is still trying to find out why my engine died with a good maintenancerecord and only 54,000 miles (no flood involved)- dealer is trying to report to bmw hq with their finding if bmw hq is willing to help. No update from bmw dealer yet. Not sure if bmw hq is willing to help.- please kindly investigate this bmw engine failure defect issue because you don't expect to buy a car that can last only 54,000 miles (6 yrs). This is crazy!- my friend has 3 series bmw and he told me his engine stops multiple times almost everyday. Bmw engine has a major issue.
2004 bmw 530i. Consumer states engine abruptly stopped running which in turn, shut down the power steering and power brakes *tgwthe mechanic stated the oil level sensor had short-circuited internally and the sensor was installed on the same circuit as the fuel injectors, so the power to the fuel injectors was abruptly cut off and the motor failed.
This 2004 bmw 545i car has a problem which causes emissions warning light to come on frequently and the subsequent fuel mileage to be reduced in half.the dealership is unable to permanently fix the problem -each attempt to fix the problem lasts for only about one month.it as been to the dealer approximately 8 times for this condition and is clearly harming the environment. I have also been in contact with the regional office and they are of no help.

I had a bulb failure warning illuminate on the dash.i bought the parking light bulb, went to replace it, and found all of the wiring inside of the headlight housing crumbling to bits.there were literally bare wires crossing on top of one another, which is clearly a fire hazard.when i asked my bmw dealer about this, they said it is a common problem, is not covered under warranty, and i have to buy new headlights.i had never heard of internal headlight wiring being considered a wear item, but bmw says otherwise.i have a 30 year old car with all of its wiring intact; this bmw had this problem before it had hit 10 years old. I spent approximately $2000 for new headlights.clearly this is a major design flaw that the manufacturer should be responsible for, as it presents a clear fire hazard.i do know of one person who experienced a vehicle fire due to this defect in a '05 525i.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated after driving the vehicle for two hours there was an abnormal odor of fuel detected. The vehicle was taken to bmw of nashville (1568 mallory ln, brentwood, tn 37027(615) 928-2541) however, the mechanic was unable to determine the failure. The vehicle was not repaired however, the fuel tank cover was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 149,810.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. While driving approximately 45 mph the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the front passenger side seat mat sensor on march 15, 2006 because it was defective. The failure recurred in july 2010. He took the vehicle back to the dealer and was advised that he had to pay for the repairs. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact also stated that the fuel gauge was no longer working properly. The fuel gauge displayed one quarter of a tank and a half of tank; however, the fuel tank was empty and caused the vehicle shut off. The failure was not repaired. The failure failure mileage was 29,474 and the current mileage was 82,000.updated 03/02/11 updated 04/29/11

My transmission was replaced at 40,000 miles due to a fault. It would jump or bump every time i would come to a stop and it downshifts into 1st gear. I almost hit a vehicle because i did not fully stop yet and the car surged forward. It finally would go into fail safe mode or limp mode andthe dealer installed a brand new transmission and the issue went away.i now have the same problem at 120,000 miles which is only 80,000 miles on the new tranny. I never had a vehicle where the transmission failed even one time let alone twice and they were all inexpensive cars/trucks. I will never buy a bmw again because they would not help me even when they know they have a defective product. 2 transmissions with the exact issues that won't even make it to 100,000 miles. I also see other complaints from others with the exact same problem and vehicle. Shame on you bmw na for not owning up to this issue and taking care of your customers. You have lost a good customer for life and i will tell everyone i know to steer clear of your products (pun intended).
I was driving down he highway at a speed of 65 when i tried to accelerate to switch lanes and the transmission faut came on and it also stated to drive moderately. The car also went into a safe mode to were i couldn't accelerate and it wouldn't switch out of third gear. Car then was turned off and back on and code fault went always , two weeks later same thing popped up trying to get on highway and now won't go away.
Transmission goes into a limb mode when reaching 30-40 mph of slowing down from over 60 mph and a bang happens like it you get hit from behind the car would not switch gear and the engine would increase the rpmthe car top speed would be 40 mphwhen it malfunctions this would happen in city streets and highwaysthe car resets by turning the engine of waiting a while and restarting the engine
I purchased a 2004 bmw 530i certified pre-owned with 29,000 miles on it. It came with a automatic tiptronic transmission. I drove it for approximately 10,000 miles and the transmission started acting up. I noticed when i used the sport mode and down shifted into first while coming to a stop the car would jerk or slam into 1stgear. I took it to the dealer (lauderdale bmw of pembroke pines)but they said they could not find anything wrong. I drove for another 50 miles or so and the car didn't want to shift and it gave an error on the main screen that the transmission had a fault drive moderately. It also stated to have the vehicle checked at the dealer. So i took it in again and again they said they could not find anything wrong. I was getting annoyed. I drove the car for another 30 miles and the fault came back but this time it the car would not shift atall and i couldn't drive over 35 mph. I took it back to the dealer and they said i needed a new transmission. I was shocked because the car was fairly new. They replaced the transmission with a brand new factory one and it was under warranty. Fast forward to today the same senario as above happened all over again, i had about 85,000 miles on the new transmission and i noticed the same exact symptoms. I was able to reset the car after each error until last week. The transmission finally failed and went into the fail safe mode and you can't drive over 35 mph. The dealer stated they needed to replace it again. I am now out of warranty and the cost will be around $6,000 to replace. I feel these transmissions fail because they are never serviced at 50,000 like all other transmissions. Bmw claims that the fluid inside is a life time fluid that never needs changing.
I have been getting transmission error fault frequently and now seems to happen very often. You can stop the car and restart it and it will run but will generate the error in a month or two again.
2004 bmw 530i. Consumer states issues with transmission *tgw consumer sent additional letter *tgwon june 25, 2008 the consumer complained about the transmission indicator light being on. The vehicle had to be re-started to reset the light. The technician hooked the vehicle up to the diagnostic equipment and there were no faults found in the transmission control module. It was noted however, that the transmission pan was leaking and needed to be replaced. No repairs were made to the transmission.july 15, 2008 the transmission pan was replaced along with the sealing sleeve. April 10, 2010, the consumer stated the transmission was operating in fail safe mode and the vehicle would not accelerate above 40 mph. The consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer and based upon the fault code that was found, the transmission was nolonger operating properly and needed to be replaced. No repairs were made at that time.
Everytime, coming to a complete stop, transmission has a noticeable "bump"/rough shift into 1st gear, took the vehicle to bmw dealership for diagnosis/repair, problem was not solved time and time again. Now, approximately over a year later, transmission warning light on, transmission went into limp mode. Bmw dealer states, transmission has to be replaced at my expense due to 3-2-1 downshift.i am the original owner of this vehicle and vehicle since purchase has been maintained meticulously at the same bmw dealership.
I have a 2004 525i bmw that periodically has a transmission slippage when driving from a stop or moving into 1st and 2nd gear.the car jumps forward and if not careful, i could accidentally hit something that is not in my control.concord bmw has tried to recreate the problem and has only done so once.they said it was a software problem but has not been able to fix.recently, i filed a complaint with them and now they tell me since it can not be recreated there is nothing they can do.
My car was out on a test drive with a repair facility when the transmission failed.

I have a 2004 bmw 545i which has been experiencing a "transmission slip" over the past year. This is a known problem by bmw and something that is not an isolated incident on my vehicle. I have been informed by bmw employees "off the record" that my car has a problem and needs to be bought back by bmw and replaced. I am currently dealing with bmw of north america and have sent them a complaint as i have had my car serviced approximately 5-6 times over the past year for the same problem with no solution. I wanted to file a complaint with the nhtsa as well because it is apparent that bmw is trying to cover up a large and potentially dangerous problem with their vehicles. I have almost been in 2 accidents because of this issue and i feel for the safety of my family when driving this vehicle.
Restrain system error message in my radio screen also air bag light came on, this message came on sudendly for no reason, car never envolved in a accident,
The passenger air bag and seat belt lights were lit on my 2004 bmw 530i.this is the same symptom as described in the recall campaign number 08v384000 / nhtsa action number ea08001.i have never received a recall letter from bmw.i learned about the recall in feb / 2010 and took the car to bmw dealer.i was told my car is not covered by the recall and i was charged for labor to replace the passenger seat occupancy detector mat (part # 52-10-9-142-348).i believe my car should be included in the bmw recall campaign.
Upon starting the vehicle the air bag and seat belt indicator lamp illuminated and the computer indicated a fault in the air bag system.
I was driving my girlfriend to work when out of nowhere i smelled something burning. At first i thought it was coming from my surrounding area, not my car. I continued to drive not thinking too much of it. As i continued to drive the smell got stronger. I decided to pull over at a convenience store just as precaution. When i steppedout of the car there was no smell, i open the hood, everything looked normal and there was no smell. I concluded that the smell was coming from the ventilation system. I turn of the heat, it was very cold that morning, turned off the heated seats, and continued to drive.ten minutes later, i arrived at my girlfriend work place, that's when werealize the smell was coming from the passenger heat. We where shocked to see the right side of her seat had a two inch burnt markit. When i got home i decided to do an internet search on that matter, and find out that's a common occurrence on this vehicle. Lucky for us, my girlfriend was wearing jean, a coat, and had her cell phone in her back pocket that morning. If that was not the casesome serious injurious could have occurred. She had to get rid of the her coat, jean, and cell phone case, but that's far better than going to the hospital. I no longer use the heated seats.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 30 mph, smoke emitted from the front driver's side seat. There were no injuries. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 217,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that the bottom of the drivers seat caught fire and left a hole in the middle of the seat. The vehicle was not inspected, but the contact stated that the heating pads over heated. The failure and current mileages were 85,700.
Saturday october 3, 2009at approximately 9:30am i turned on my driver side heated seat.after approx. 2-3 minutes i smelled something burning and then saw smoke coming up from around my steering wheel.i pulled over and got out and found my seat had a hole burned through it on the lower left hand side (door side).the hole was red from heat so i looked at the back of my shirt and it had a hole burned in it,i then looked at my pants and found a hole had started burning thru the hip pocket.i took it to the dealer and they said they were not aware of any problems like the one i just experienced.i also noticed on the internet on a law firms web page that this has happened before to my model car, 2004 bmw 530i.i plan to call bmw of north america tomorrow (10-5-09) to file a complaint.i can send a picture of the car seat and my clothes if you want.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 25 mph, smoke started to emerge from the left side of the upper cushion of the driver seat. The heater was turned off and the smoke stopped.the contact notified the manufacturer of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the diagnosis was the heating element was the cause of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.the vin was not available.
Driver's seat on a 2004 bmw 530i e60 almost caughton fire due to heated seats feature.i turned the head seats on and after 5 minutes i started smellinga burning smell and smoke. The fire made a small hole on the seat.i stopped then turned off the car. I was lucky and i was not driving in the highway at high speeds.
Heated seating is burning my leg passenger side. Even on low.
The heated leather seat for my bmw 2004 530 i malfunctioned and burned a hole from a small fire through the seat.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i.while driving approximately between 45-50 mph on normal road conditions, the front driver seat heating system activated.then excessive heat was expelled from the left side corner of the front driver seat back-rest. The heat melted a small hole in the seat cover.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection.he experienced an identical failure referenced in recall # 04v575000 (seats:front assembly:seat heater/cooler).since his vehicle identification number was excluded from the recall, he was ineligible for a free remedy. The failure mileage was 108.the current mileage was 108,000.
The heated seat on my driver's side continuously got hotter and hotter, until if finally burned through the seat.my clothing was burned and so was my hand when i reached down feel the seat.i was driving at the time.this was a very dangerous situation.i my car to nob_bmw in rockville.this is where i purchased and maintain the vehicle.the did repair it for free, but charged me a fifty dollar warranty fee.
Started car in the morning to let it warm up and turned on seat heater. Got in car 5 min later to head to work and smoke was coming through seat material on driver seat. Seat heater caught fire and burned through leather and burnt me and my clothes. Burnt left hand thumb and index finger trying to put fire out. From searching online this is a very common problem with no dealers or manufacture of car doing anything to prevent this.
While driving, a smell of burning matter rapidly increased in the car, then immediately followed by a sharp burning sensation in my left thigh.i stopped the car, garbed my extinguisher and looked around the seat for any signs of fire.then i noticed a black burned hole on the seat bottom left bolster exactly where my thigh burned.it seemed that the seat warmer overheated, and burned a hole in the leather.turning on the car and warmer again for couple seconds, resulted in sparks appearing through the hole.i contacted bmw of north america, and they informed me that the car is not covered by a warranty anymore, and that there was no recalls related to the seats issued for my car.to contact my bmw dealership for repairs. That i would be responsible for the diagnostic fee and that they might cover a portion of the repairs.checking similar complaints on nhtsa, i am surprised bmw has not issued a recall for the seat heaters for our cars, specially since it is a serious safety issue.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i.the contact turned on the passenger side seat warmer and began to smell smoke.the contact then noticed that the seat had burned through a jacket that was on the seat. The contact scheduled for both the manufacturer and the dealer to inspect the defect.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 104,000 and the current mileage was 104,030.
Driver's seat heating unit became very hot and singed the seat covering.dealer replaced the entire seat.
While driving, the seat heater burned a hole in the leather seat, resulting in ignition of drivers clothing (leather jacket and suit coat), which caught fire. Attempts to extinguish the flames resulted in heat blisters and burns to drivers hands, damage to car, smoke damage, and damage to personal attire, loss of work hours, etc.the car was purchased certified pre-owned, however, the recall of the front seat heater was, obviously, not completed by the dealership prior to vehicle purchase.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated that the passenger side heated seat temperatures were inoperable. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised the contact that the heating mat on the front passenger seat would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised him that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 04v575000 (seats:front assembly:seat heater/cooler) and no further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact noticed that the air bag warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics wherethe technician stated that the seat mat would have to be replaced. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 08v384000 (air bags:frontal) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000. Updated 08-16-12updated 08/16/2012
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i. While driving 10 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to stop the vehicle. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,364.
2 week ago my vehicle display " active steering malfunction " and still displays it i have not fixed the problem yet since i hear so many diferent things .
The active steering fault code comes on and states your active steering may not be functioning.
Active steering malfunction, steering wheel not centered
Active steering failure:hi, i've a 2004 bmw 530i and my active steering keeps failing and dealer is asking for $4,000 plus. I checked on internet and found this to a common issue with most of the bmws. Please investigate this as it is a serious flaw in design and consumers have to shed $4k plus and its still not a guaranteed fix.
(note: this process does not list the 2004 bmw 745i) i purchased my 2004 745i as a certified pre-owned vehicle from a local bmw dealer in october 2007.since then on 3 separate occasions the steering has totally locked.this has happened when entering or exiting a parking space and thesteering wheel was turned completely to the left (counter clockwise) position.the dealer cannot duplicate the condition and there is no error code recorded in the obdi. On two of the occasions i had to turn the engine off and then restart the car to free the steering.on the last occasion the steering was restored after about 30 seconds with the engine still running.on a fourth occasion the steering was difficult and sluggish but returned to normal a few seconds later.i have a great fear this will happen when i'm traveling on the roadway and not just in my driveway or a parking lot.the dealer insists that they cannot find anything to account for my experiences.
The vehicle was sold to me without removing the shipping spacer form the four coil springs and shock absorbers.
The contact owned a 2004 bmw 530i. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, when the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the front passenger side axel separated from the body which resulted in the contact crashing the vehicle. Contact stated all air bags deployed and a police report was filed. The contact stated that there was a loud pop before the failure occurred. 1 person was injured which resulted in back soreness, no medical treatment was needed. The vehicle was towed to mobile maintenance & towing llc(2014 w gardner ln, tucson, az 85705 (520) 900-1196) the vehicle was destroyed. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with, nhtsa campaign number: 19e058000 (steering) however the vin was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.
While driving suddenly the drive control malfunction alert appeared, a few seconds later, active steering malfunction alert occurred.it did not affect my driving at all, so i continued until able to pull over, and turn the car off, when i restarted the car, both alerts cleared.next day, after driving for 20 minutes it happened again, once car is turned off and turned back on, alerts disappeared again.some days does not come on at all, but noticed it occurs more frequent when weather is hot.i live in phoenix, az the temps are in 105-109 range.when cooler weather the alerts do not come on.i am told it will cost over $2000 to replace both sensors.that is nuts...
On april 16, 2006, while driving my 2004 bmw 645ci on a highway with only my 13-year-old son with me, the assisted steering, which works the rear wheels, failed without any warning or any event having occurred. I was able to bring it to a stop without a collision, fortunately, although the loss of control was terrifying and we came close twice to hitting other cars. The vehicle was ultimately flat-bedded to my dealers (greenwich bmw) service facility in port chester, ny. After two days of telling me that they had found no damage to the vehicle, the dealer advised that it would not honor the warranty because they found sign of impact to another, unrelated part on the underside of the car.
I purchased a certified car from bmw on 11-17-06 with 49,761 miles. In addition i purchased the extended warranty on the vehicle for an additional 2 years or 50,000 miles for a total warranty of 6 years or 100,000 miles.at the time of delivery it was noted to the salesman that the front & rear window mouldings were deteriorating. He stated that when it came back for the oil service that it would be taken care of.well on both 3-17-07 as well as 7-14-07 when i brought the vehicle in for service i was denied because of out of warranty. The vehicle was built in 11-03, so it is not even 4 years old & experiencing deterioration issues on glass that could fall out and injure somebody. I feel that bmw should correct this issue & conduct an investigation on a failure of their parts.

The vehicle was sold to me without removing the shipping spacer form the four coil springs and shock absorbers.
Vehicle wont stop leaking oil.
Battery cable/terminal melted.car would not start on several occasions.after sitting ...then car would start.random start.also, radio would come on all by itself.call has just over 100k miles (101,200).also codes received for cam shaft and air pump which had to be replaced.
After turning into a parking lot, i slowly turned right onto a two-way driveway without lane markers. To my right was a curb. To my left was opposing traffic. Moving very slowly while waiting for the opposing traffic to pass so i could select a parking space, i turned my steering wheel a bit to the right in order to maneuver around a large vehicle to my left, and then a bit to the left in anticipation of parking on the other side of the opposing traffic.i felt a bump on the right side of the car, and damage there suggests that the body momentarily rested on the curb and that the tire was not in contact with the ground. At this point, although i did not move any controls, the vehicle accelerated rapidly, surging forward and to the left:'i heard the engine revving very loudly, with more power than i had ever heard in nearly seven years of experience with this vehicle.'i felt a very bumpy ride, as if the vehicle was driving down a flight ofstairs.'with the car accelerating at a tremendous rate, i saw the parked cars getting close incredibly quickly. There was no time to react. I never had a chance to use the brakes. In a distance of 23 paces, the car went from barely moving to slamming into a parked car with enough force to push that car sideways into a second parked car and to push the second parked car sideways into a third parked car. Two parked cars were totaled. It was only by chance that nobody was between the cars that were hit. My airbags deployed. I asked bmw to conduct an investigation.they said there was nothing wrong with my car except the floor mats. I asked bmw about nhtsa incidents: 10102759, 10357973, 10344193, and 10323285. Bmw's response was that the government has never asked them to investigate those incidents. There is a documented history of warning messages from my dsc/dtc system. Bmw admitted in writing that there are cases in which this system can cause the wheels to accelerate, but insisted that it's "impossible" to accelerate so much.
Nearly every bmw suffers from failed wiring in the headlights. This should be addressed as a recalled oint of failure as it involves everybody on the road.

I have now replaced 4 windshields on my car within the last 2 years. This is on the same road that i have commuted on for the past 10 years. The windshield replacements started with the purchase of this car. 3 previous cars did not have any problems.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 530i.while driving approximately 40 mph, the wheels failed without warning.the vehicle was towed to a dealer and they speculated that the contact must have struck something in the road to cause the wheels to fail.he is in the process of having the vehicle repaired.the failure and current mileages were 49,000.
