I received a recall notice of a final remedy in july 2017.i have been on a waiting list for with a bmw dealership for months, who keeps telling me they are still waiting on the part from bmw n.a.the dealerships (fairfax, va and alexandria, va) are telling me that bmw n.a. Is the reason for the delay.they are simply not getting the parts in a "reasonable" period of time.how long is a "reasonable" period of time?a year?
The passenger seat detection meant to disable the air bag for a child does not work properly.the "air bag off" light does not illuminate while my 55 lb child sits in the seat.infrequently, the light will illuminate briefly while she is in the seat, and then go dark again. Attempting to test the seat sensors, i used a sack of 20 lb potatoes placed both directly on the passenger seat, and in a car seat.in both cases, the seat would inconsistently detect the "child" and illuminate the "air bag off" light, and sometimes would not.sometimes it would detect the "child" initially after engine start up and subsequently the light would go dim.other times the light would cycle on and off at engine start up (normal bulb check) and remain off at engine start up -- i.e., not detected -- but if the sack of potatoes was lifted off the seat and placed back down, or if pressure was manually applied next to the potatoes on the car seat, the "air bag off" light would illuminate and detection would trigger.these results were confirmed both sitting in driveway in neutral, and operating at low speed.
The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335xi. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v071000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Door locks wouldn't open or close. Inside unlock capabilities not working either. Only access in or out is through the keyed entry. Cannot even open the other three doors.
After almost a year, bmw is still not ready to 'remedy' and provide a fix for safety recall 17v-676 (blower motor wiring).
The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335xi. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335xi. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system). The contact called bmw of greenwich and bmw of mamaroneck at 914-881-3600 (located at 110 midland ave, port chester, ny 10573) and was informed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
I got locked in my car several times and it will not unlock.this can cause death on a hot day.the vehicle was stationary
The car would not start as indicated on the recall. The battery was drained from the bad cables. I replaced the cables at bmw under the recall a d was charged for reprogramming. To replace the connectors it would need reprogrammed and i feel the battery should be included in their recall. There are several similar complaints on this issue. The lights worked and all other functions just would not start. Bmw advised it needed a new battery but would not include on the recall even though its a known problem. If they had to replace the cable they would have to reprogram it either way, new battery or the existing battery as they would not leave it "hot" while working on it.
Blower motor recall.my bmw caught on fire on 5/17/2018.i believe it may be related to the current recall concerning engine fires in several model lines.it was parked in my driveway.had been turned off for over 1 1/2 hours.damage was primarily isolated to the front and rear.fire department was called and arrived within 3 minutes to extinguish the fire.comments made by arson investigators were odd burn patterns. First thought was electrical related fire.they had to call back fire fighters due to worry the battery would reignite.
Three fuel pump failures, bmw factory rep looked at car at bmw cleveland, in solon, ohio. One week later car caught on fire while sitting in parking lot at work.
My family took he car to the grocery store and when they attempted to exit the car, the drivers door wouldn't open.i eventually discovered that fuse #73 failed causing the doors to lock the passengers inside the car.initially it was just the drivers door, but as i was pressing the door lock buttons on the key and the central locking button all door were eventually affected.i see this as a safety hazard since passengers could be trapped in the vehicle in an emergency.
Car has issues with cold start, long crank, rpm surge, cylinder misfires. Car has index 5 and index 8 fuel injectors. The car is showing codes for issues with the high pressure fuel pump.
Driver's side door would not open because it remained locked.it could not be unlocked using the inside or outside door handle, the key fob unlock button, or the door lock switch on the front dash.i had to physically insert and turn the key from the outside to unlock the car.i understand this may be a fuse or a door lock actuator problem.it is an enormous safety issue if i cannot get out of my car because of an electrical failure.
I was driving my car i wasn't driving my car no more than 15 min. I felt my ac cut off then i saw white smoke above the dashboard i pulled over and shut the engine off and raise the hood up no smoke was coming from the engine the smoke was coming from above the dashboard then flames fell out above the glove apartment in which the entire car caught fire my car was well taking care of never had any major problemwit my car (a bmw certified mechanic work on my car ) im very disappointed about my car catching on fire for no reason at all i could have lost my life.
The speedometer in this vehicle is off by 5 mph at 60 mph and progressively worse at higher speeds.both the dealer and bmw corporation refuse to correct the problem.i have requested that a new speedometer be installed or that the old unit be recalibrated.i believe this to be a safety defect due to the fact that there is no way to accurately determine the speed of the vehicle, especially at higher speeds.
The contact owned a 2008 bmw 335xi. While the vehicle was parked, smoke was noticed coming from the dashboard. The contact also noticed that the bottom of the dashboard on the front passenger side was on fire. The contact was able to exit the vehicle without injuries as the vehicle became engulfed in flames. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an insurance company's tow lot. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,889.
The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335xi. The contact stated while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle had an abnormal odor on the vehicle and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335xi. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine misfired and failed to respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to casey bmw located at (12861 jefferson ave. Newport news. Va) who diagnosed that the fuel injectors were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 120,000.
Coolant / water pump has failed at 57,000 miles. The pump seized, which caused the engine to overheat and shut off at highway speeds. A water pump should not fail at such an early age. Internet searches indicate this is a common problem on 3-series (extremely early failure of the water pump). This is unacceptable.
The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335xi. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle starter slowly. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated while inspecting under the hood, he noticed a fuel leak into the spark plugs. The contact called local dealer orange county bmw located at 101 maher ln, harriman, ny 10926, (845) 782-4269 and were made aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been diagnosed nor repaired as of yet. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with manufacturer recall 10ea02, however the vin was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.
My car is experiencing the infamous hpfp failure. The code thrown is p2aaf (fuel pump plausability) and p29f2 (high-pressure fuel system, fuel pressure).when starting the car, the engine shakes, rumbles and almost dies, erratic idle...i have to rev up the engine for a few minutes to keep idle stable. The check engine light and ses light comes on. It has reduced power, i can not accelerate quickly any more. I see people behind me move over everytime i go from a stop.i took the car to bmw recently and they found $8,800 worth of repair cost on the vehicle. I was told the hpfp needs to be replaced but it is out of warranty since the car is 10 years old and past 120,000 miles. They would not replace it for free.i was also told that the pump was replaced a few times before. I think i am the second owner of the car. I purchased it in 2/2013. Roughly 3 years ago, the car's engine shutdown while i was in the middle of the highway. I was able to keep it going about 4 miles an hour and pulled over. I was told the low pressure fuel pump was replaced under cpo warranty to get the car working again. This car is a danger to me and my kids. I think the hpfp should be replaced free of charge if the symptoms exist, no matter if their warranty has expired.
The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335xi. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic. The contact stated that the computer was reset and the spark plugs and water pump were replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Vehicle lost power while on the highway, appears to be an engine malfunction.took to bmw dealership and they replaced the fuel pump, however problem still occurs.unfortunately, the warranty has just expired so i had to pay out of pocket.it appears many individuals have had the same issues with this particular yr, make & model so unsure of why bmw has not issued a recall to address the problem.this absolutely should be looked at by the manufacturer as from my experience with it occurring on the highway it can definitely cause an accident.
The contact owned a 2008 bmw 335xi. While parked in the driveway, the vehicle caught fire in the engine compartment. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was not occupied. No injuries were sustained and a police report was not filed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was destroyed. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, the contact stated that she was awaiting a phone call from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.
The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335xi. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the fuel injectors and spark plugs would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 76,400.
Car randomly lost power and went into limp mode. Heavy stuttering with check engine light. Occurred while merging on the highway and resulted in near collision. Car had 75k miles at the time, now has 76k. Car drives fine, but when pressing accelerator passed 50% car begins to stutter and go into limp mode. No check engine light or issues until this happens. Check engine codes read, multiple cylinder misfire. All symptoms point to hpfp.

Noticed the water coolant light come on. After taking it to bmw, they said the water pump was leaking. Wanted to replace it for a nice piece of change. Poor part design. They should have a recall on the pump.
My model car has a recall on the fuel injectors.my vehicle's fuel injectors have misfired and have cause the check engine light to remain on in my car.i have contacted bmw several times about this issue.they have told me multiple stories as to why they will not honor my car under this recall.one reason they give is my vin #, even though my car is the same make and model as the recall with the same issue.then they say my car is out of warranty.i thought the purpose of a recall is that it repairs your car even if it's out of warranty.i have spent over hundreds of dollars trying to correct this problem, and the problem still exists.bmw will not reimburse me or fix the car under the recall that i know my car falls under.the recall is even listed on my failed dmv inspection report, and they are still not cooperating.is there something you can do?my car will not pass inspection, and it's the only car i have.
The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335xi. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph; proceeding to a traffic signal. The transmission exhibited a jerking motion. The vehicle continued in operation. In addition, the fuel pump failed on several occasions. The turbo charger and banos system failed to operate properly. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The vehicle was repaired under the service warranty. The driver observed after the vehicle service repair; smoke was coming from the tail pipe and oil was leaking. The failure mileage was 50. The current mileage was 34,000. The vin was unavailable.
This is a huge problem on a ton of bmw vehicles that are equipped with bmw's adaptive headlight technology. Not only is it a huge problem on the cars, but is a danger to other vehicles on the road and the safety of the driver and passengers of said bmw. The adaptive headlights will move as the car moves (left/right and up/down). These headlights have a mechanism in them that control the movement and it breaks quite often especially on bumpy roads. Bmw dealerships will say "you hit a pot hole and the light mechanism broke. You will need a whole new assembly and it cost $1800". This would be ok if it didn't endanger other people on the road and the actual driver and passengers of said car. The headlights will jam to either the straight up position. This is jammed so far up that it lights the roof in my garage and i can't see anything on the road in front of me. They also jam all the way to the left, all the way to the right, and straight down depending on when the mechanism fails. This means that drivers on either side of the road can be completely blinded and could cause a fatal accident by looking away from the road. This also causes a huge issue for the driver of the car as you can't see the road in front of you. My previous car (infiniti g35 coupe) had a similar issue except nissan had the projects aimed to high from the factory. This was a huge recall and forced nissan to reissue functioning headlights. Bmw will not budge on the fact that this is a major safety issue. From research online i am 1 of thousands that have this issue and bmw has not recognized it. I am not willing to spend thousands of dollars on a issue that is clearly a engineering qa issue and is also risking my life when driving at night and putting on coming motorist in danger as well. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
I believe you have received many complaints about this. The high pressure fuel pump on the n54 engine in my 2008 335xi has gone bad twice in the past month. I am very tired of this problem and i have not seen any evidence of bmw doing anything to fix this hazard to the owners of these cars.there will be long cranks starting the car and after a few days/weeks the fuel pump will fail. It fails pretty often it seems. My first one failed around 27,500 miles and my second one failed today at just under 29,200 miles a month after i replaced the first pump. I have the old part in my garage and i'll have a second one as soon as i receive and install my next pump.
On sunday may 10, 2009, i was driving my bmw 335 when i experienced the car shaking and breaking down. I had it towed to the bmw dealership to be notified that the high pressure fuel pump failed and it was because i used 15% ethanol gas. This is absurd as i have been using the gas recommended by bmw and i have all the receipts to prove it, all gas in new york state contains the legal 10% ethanol so i don't see how any consumer could know if the ethanol percentage is higher than what they are putting in. The hpfp is a huge problem in many 335 models and bmw has even issued a recall over it in the past, the problem is still not fixed. This is a fault in the fuel pump and bmw is attempting to pin it on bad gas and trying to deny warranty coverage.
Long crank, stuttering, engine dying at idle (or in traffic), check engine light/limp mode. Bmw dealers don't know exactly how to fix it once and for all. They just keep replacing the high pressure fuel pump.

I was driving on a thoroughfare and suddenly the warning light went off in my car and the power decreased.the warning said "engine malfunction--reduced power."the car basically lost power and i was lucky enough not to get killed as i pulled over to the side of the road with cars careening around me and almost rear ending me.it was terrifying.i looked up this problem online and found that it is common for the 330 series of bmws over the past three years.this problem is due to a succession of high power fuel pumps in the twin engines.why hasn't this problem been addressed?does someone need to die?i am a wreck and don't think i can trust bmw.they keep putting in different pumps in other peoples cars from the boards, and they still have the same problem.
Three fuel pump failures, bmw factory rep looked at car at bmw cleveland, in solon, ohio. One week later car caught on fire while sitting in parking lot at work.
2008 bmw 335xi: under moderate acceleration, car loses power and eventually stalls.can sometimes be restarted, though it has completely failed as well.can cause loss of control while driving vehicle.high-pressure fuel pump has been replaced twice and failure still occurs.
2008 bmw 335xi failure of fuel injectors the consumer was informed, it would cost 2,000 to replace the defective fuel injector, even if all of them were not malfunctioning, because the newest generation of fuel injectors developed for the 2007 and later models were not compatible with earlier versions of the injectors.. The consumer experienced multiple limp mode events and engine malfunction messages on numerous occasions, while driving at highway speed; particularly when accelerating. The vehicle would suddenly lose engine power. Each time, he had to pull over, turn the vehicle off, wait several minutes and then restart the vehicle.
I feel this situation warrants your immediate review for a possible forced recall.my 2008 bmw 335xi began having sporadic problems in september 2009.because of my distance to a dealership and long time between problems i did not take the car to a dealership immediately.by december the problems became more severe and frequent.the engine warning light would become illuminated, the engine would have substantially lower power and the car would stall without warning.i had first taken the car to a bmw dealership for repair on jan 2, 2009 and then again to a bmw service center 3 more times.in all 4 cases the service department claimed to have made a software adjustment and said the problem was fixed.in all 4 cases the problem was not fixed.it was not until the 5th time taken to a dealer and my calling the regional manager and threatening to return the car that the fuel pump was finally replaced.based on comments made by technicians i suspect that bmw realizes it has a systemic problem with the fuel pump and they have implemented a stall policy on replacing the units to spread out the financial impact and/or hope the problem extends beyond the warranty period.the danger with this action is that it places the drivers and passengers at risk as the car can stall without out warning such as in an intersection as has happened to me on several occasions.
Bmw n54 engine 1.symptoms begin with increasing long-cranks on start-up.eventually the engine performs at reduced power, and ultimately total loss of power.2.iam on my 3rd high pressure fuel pump (hpfp) with approximately 25,000 miles on the car in 2 years and 2 months of ownership.apparently the replacement of the hpfp frequently leads to a problem with the spark plugs, and coils which cause severe mis-firing and violent shaking.my coils were replaced as was a catalytic converter and an o2 sensor in between hpfp #1 and #2.at times the engine has cut power while at highway speeds causing a hazardous driving condition.3.bmw made available a hpfp from a new manufacturer (my #2 hpfp) and subsequently discontinued that part (part # ending in 943) and replaced it with part # ending in 933, which is a re-manufactured hpfp (the pump currently in my car).each of the three pumps appears to be nearly identical, each has a high failure rate and none seem to address the root of the problem.
I own a 2008 bmw 335xi. The fuel system seems to have problem. I was driving on freeway, and the engine looses power suddenly on the freeway, the rpm drops, and i have to press the gas pedal hard to get to a comfortable speed of 60mph, the car still doesn't drive at full regular power. I first complained 4 months ago, they said it's nothing. I complained again a month afterwards. The dealer said there's a high pressure fuel pump recall and kept the car with them for 1 week. 3 months afterwards, this week, i experienced the same power loss again on a smaller scale. I didn't pay much attention, i took the car to dealer for regular service, the dealer said it has a recall again for the same fuel system issue - high pressure fuel pump loss of pressure. My car is still with the dealer, i don't know if and when they could fix it. I don't see a second recall on this issue yet. And bmw did not send me a recall letter yet. I think all of bmws twin turbo powered card should be immediately pulled off roads and checked and fixed before there's any loss of lives or property. At this point clearly, bmw doesn't seem to have a fix for this. A nhtsa investigation in to this issue would be appreciated and alert the public about the issue. Until this is fixed, bmw's twin turbo powered cars should be put on "do not recommend" list as far as safety.
The car started but it started extremely "rough" with the engine rpms racing then dropping down to 500 rpms, feeling like it was going to stall.eventually it evened out. Unfortunately starting issues are a frequent occurrence since i purchased this car and it has been to the dealer several times for similar starting issues. They replaced: the high pressure fuel pump which bmw knows it has issues with, made "software" updates, and replaced the dma.this time, however, when i began to drive it and turn on to a busy street, i essentially lost most of the power in the car.it was extremely disconcerting to step on the gas, expect the car to respond and it didn't.this could have been a disaster if it had happened while attempting to get on a busy freeway.thankfully, it wasn't but i am worried it will happen again if i attempt to drive it to the dealer. After researching to see if others have had similar issues, indeed they have. All issues seem to be related to bmw's high pressure fuel pump issue, which they clearly have not solved given many have been replaced several times with the same unfortunate outcome of going bad again. I have had mine replaced by the dealer but am now having issues again. Detailed accounts are all over the internet (some serious safety issues as it has happened on the freeway) and i am surprised the nhtsa hasn't done any serious investigation, nor forced bmw to recall either the vehicle or replace all parts that are affected and needed to correctly fix the issue (fuel pump, low pressure sensor, fuel injectors, etc.).i am considering contacting reporters because this is a toyota type safety issue waiting to happen. While it may only happen in a certain % of vehicles, does someone have to die to have this issue taken seriously and properly corrected?people have been "lucky" thus far, but this really is a safety issue and someone must force bmw to address it.
I own a bmw 2008 335 xi and have had three fuel pumps and pistons changed on it.the time before today, the fuel pump malfunctioned and pistons needed to be changed because gas was burning and smoke was coming out of the right tail pipe.today it was towed for the fourth fuel pump replacement and burning gas smoke was shooting out of the right tail pipe while driving in the city.in every instance the car was in motion and will stop immediately.i have been fortunate that this has occurred in the city because i frequent the nj turnpike and am fearful it will happen while on the turnpike.there are numerous people having this issue and bmw is aware of the problem but they just replace the fuel pumps with faulty fuel pumps.please help me address this problem.i am scare the next time this happens it is going to cause serious damage and injuries (including death).
The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335xi. The high pressure fuel pump has fractured three times. This condition causes the vehicle to enter into limp mode, and subsequently stops fuel delivery into the engine.the fuel pump was replaced three times under warranty. The failure mileage was 27,000.
2008 bmw 335xihigh pressure fuel pump failure.dealer replaced.failed in traffic and went into limp mode.
While driving around 65-70mph, i experienced a complete loss of engine power, and had to pull over to the shoulder of the highway.i immediately restarted the vehicle and was left with 50% engine power (limp mode).luckily the dealer was only a couple miles away, so i immediately drove there for repair, but had this been elsewhere in the region, i would have been stranded.the bmw high pressure fuel pump was replaced and the car has been working well ever after. I was told that this incident accurately reflects what typical high pressure fuel pump (hpfp) failures typically present like.
My bmw 335xi has repeatedly had fuel pump issues. The engine will malfunction when i am in the middle of the road (often times in the middle of the highway). This is not only a potential safety issue for myself, but for others on the road as well. This fuel pump failure issue prevents my car from moving, which can potentially lead to someone's death, especially on the highway. Please force bmw to recall this fuel pump asap.
The high pressure fuel keeps failing .........the engine loses power when driving ...safety issue
April 14, 2014 our car went in for service.may 7, 2014 it was returned for a 'reduced power, service engine soon'light.at that time, the fuel pump was replaced and covered under a recall.in july the light came on again and the battery was dead.we replaced the battery.in late august, the warning light appeared again. September 8,2014 the car went into the garage.at this time we were told it was most likely the turbo, est repairs at $5500.00.at this time the car had 83985 miles on it(the turbo was under an "extended" warranty until 82,000).i contacted bmw and ask for an extension on the warranty since we were less than 2,000 miles over.they agreed to pay for the part, but not the labor which is 2600.00.while i appreciate their effort, it is not enough. They obviously are aware that there is an issue with this part, since they extended the warranty so i feel that they should cover the entire amount.yesterday the same warning light came on and has stayed on.the car is running very loudly, shaking, with little power.we are requesting your advice and/or assistance about what to do next.one thing i didn't mention was approximately one month after purchasing this pre-owned car, the engine had to be replaced with only 25,000 miles on it.so the current engine has approximately 55000 miles on it.
I write requesting that my vehicle 2008 bmw 335xi vin number [xxx] be tagged/listed as needing the revised sib 13 01 20 -emissions recall campaign 10e-a02 issued by bmw on 01/17/2020.this revised 2020 bmw internal amended recall instructions require replacement of all original fuel injectors. It amends what was being done since the original recall sib 13 14 20 from the year 2011 which required only individual failing injectors be replaced.back in 2011, the bmw service center that worked on my car, replaced two (2) failing injectors and removed the car from the recall list prematurely. That was wrong because fuel injectors are ?individual? pieces of equipment, and my car needs six (6) of them.in the year 2013, bmw replaced three (3) fuel injectors in a different bank under warranty.making it that was still one more original injector left (injector number #5) in the car.this remaining injector #5 in my car is an original injector and should still be subject to the recall.i called bmw usa asking for the updated 01/17/2020 recall be completed on my car and they denied my request stating they have properly completed the original recall back in 2011. I had them review the records which indicate that back in 2011 during the original recall sib 13 14 20 only fuel injectors 4 & 6 were replaced under the recall because injectors.injector number 5 is still original and it is subject to the 01/17/2020 sib 13 01 20 -emissions recall campaign 10e-a02 issued by bmw. Currently, this fuel injector leaks fuel down into the cylinder head and creates pollution. I am attaching service records.i appreciate you taking the time to please look into this and have bmw do the right thing by replacing this old original injector they left behind back in 2011.thank you in advance for looking into this. --- [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Car has issues with cold start, long crank, rpm surge, cylinder misfires. Car has index 5 and index 8 fuel injectors. The car is showing codes for issues with the high pressure fuel pump.
Fuel injectors are dumping excess fuel into the cylinders. Engine will surge causing check engine light to come on. Sure happens on cold start and also can happen while driving.
Door locks wouldn't open or close. Inside unlock capabilities not working either. Only access in or out is through the keyed entry. Cannot even open the other three doors.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)to whom it may concern:the 2008 bmw 335xi i havegot engine over heated warming sigh pop out from car computer and the car lose the power right away while i was still driving on the fast lane on the free way which almost got me in accident front the car behind twice. Ibrought the car in to the dealer and they said there is error record showing my car engine been over heated but they cannot do anything about it that i need to contact bmwna for solution. I did some research about my car does not come with the oil cooler which should original come install in the car since the car has sport package and bmwna been doing retrofit to many other cars already. I mention that while bmwna contact me but they said they cannot do anything about it even with the car did record engine over heated problem unless i over heated the car at the dealership then they will consider fixing the problem. Also since i am the second owner of the vehicle they are not going to od the oil cooler refrofit for me. I ask bmwna they should take care this problem since the car is only 1 and half year old and the problem should be take car by warranty but they said they cannot do anything to fix it. This already have some serious safety issues since they know this car need to be putting oil cooler in order not to get it overheated and lose power while driving. Bmwna did the retrofit for first owner but i guess they do not consider the life of the second as important as the first owner too. Maybe they will state looking at the engine overheated problem like toyota when serious problem start. Please look into this case for some second owner of bmw that bmwna trying to ignore. Thank you [xxx]
Long crank, stuttering, engine dying at idle (or in traffic), check engine light/limp mode. Bmw dealers don't know exactly how to fix it once and for all. They just keep replacing the high pressure fuel pump.
I have a 2008 bmw 335xi. It has a serious transmission problem. When i am at the red light with my foot on the brake it feels like someone hit me from behind! so hard i look in my rear view mirror to see the car that hit me and get out to get their insurance info. Bmw will not fix it saying that the tech cant reproduce the problem! if my kids or your or some driver with not alot of experience would have this happen to them i assure you they could panic and hit the gas and end up in the intersection and get killed!!! something has to be done before someone dies!!!!
Car pulls violently to the right under *initial wet braking*, at all speeds.subsequent braking tracks straight ahead, until brakes get wet again.no standing water, no tire tread or inflation issues, no alignment issues.this problem is apparently well-known in the internet forums, and has been for several years, yet bmw has neither acknowledged the problem, or made a fix available.this is a potentially deadly problem, resulting in unpredictable behavior at the worst-possible moment.*contact me for more information!*problem has been observed sign day one with this car -- but only in wet weather (so, it surfaced again last night, during the first rainstorm of the season).
The brake system seems to have lost its three press boost. After about 2 years, upon starting the car (2008 bmw 335xi auto) the press on the brake is stiff. It is stiff becauseit seems to have loss the 3 press boost. The boost that is supposed to protect the driver in case of engine failure. No other care i have owned leaks out its boost overnight. Bmw admitted that the brake check valve was bad and replaced it with a newly designed part. I asked what this new design was and they could not tell me. I read online that many people have had this issue which starts with a stiff brake pedal then it degrades into the system not being able to start the car. Bmw to their credit immediately found another part and loaned me a car in the meantime. The loaned car however did not show this stiff pedal issue. The new part they put in after about 1 month started to lose boost in the mornings off and on. I brought it in and they said this is normal? i"m worried that if i lose engine function going down a hill somewhere that they three press boost won't be their for me if we allow it to get worse. Suffice to say, once the engine starts you get the normal power assisted braking; however, this does not address the engine off three brake press safety requirement.
On november 18, 2016, at approximately 7:45 am, i was driving on seward highway towards west international airport road in anchorage, alaska and all of a sudden my sunroof exploded and glass shards fell above my head and all over the interior of my car. I called bmw corporate for a resolution but they initially denied my claim saying it must have been hit with a rock and i should be calling my car insurance instead. I contacted bmw corporate for the second time. They were able to escalate my issue and offered me a "goodwill" offer to replace all parts involved free of charge on my issue, but not labor. Labor charge is approximately $900 and they require it to be done at the dealership. It is absurd! i'm not paying for a damage which i'm not responsible. It seems like they are not considering this as a big problem and rather denying defects on their sunroofs. I was furious and exclaimed that it is a safety issue and i could have been injured, could have been killed, or worse, could have killed someone else. With their "goodwill" offer and the absurd labor charge, i don't think i could get this issue resolved without the help of nhtsa to press bmw to do further investigation. This issue has to be fixed asap before someone gets killed.
Motor system connectors recall
I got locked in my car several times and it will not unlock.this can cause death on a hot day.the vehicle was stationary

Bmw 3 series and also other series with run flat tires have an issue that with an average bump like a manhole cover the wheel will crack. I have replaced 3 so far on my wife's 2008 335xi at my cost. After research i have seen that this is a common issue and that everyone has had the same experience with bmw denying it was the wheel. The car only has 35,000+/- miles on it.when brought in due to rapid air loss bmw states it was the driving conditions not their wheel. I accepted this the first time but after 3 wheels i feel there is a major design or material defect.it seems to be the run flat style tires. I thought maybe it was the tires so i switched from the factory tires to a different brand based on the dealers recommendation after the first wheel cracked and still have had the issue two more times.my wife has an older mercedes that she drives the same way and it has the same wheels from 2003. It must be the wheels supplied by bmw.
