Passenger restraint system malfunction - notice started popping up at random now is on all the time without a passenger. Have been told there is no recall, but the same issue has been identified on all bmw sports seats from years 2006 and 2008, noticing complaints of the same issue for 2012 issues posted online as well. Previous issue was for a cracked sensor in the seat. Not happy that bmw has had this issue and will not review possible reoccurrence in newer models then 2008.

Immediately after replacing the recall for the driver's side airbag, the light warning came on for the passenger side airbag. This happened while my vehicle was in motion after taking in my car for maintenance and the original recall.

I received the recall notice 16v-071 in march 2016, and just checked with bmw and they still do not have the replacement parts.it is now sept 2016.six months does not seem like a "reasonable period of time" to wait to fix a defective item that could fail "resulting in metal fragments striking the driver or other passengers potentially resulting in serious injury or death."

Takata recall.recalled february 2016, and still no repair available.

Takata recall. This recall is been issued for a very long time but bmw still hasn't notified me for the replacement and repair. This needs to be addressed promptly.

On 2/5/2016, bmw issued a recall for the driver's front air bag (recall campaign no. 16v-071). I wasn't even notified about the recall! i happened to see this open recall in july 2017 after i received a recall for the rear driveshaft constant velocity joint (recall campaign no. 17v-067). It took almost 2 years for the driver's air bag recall to be fixed (it was finally made available to me in december 2017).within a few months of getting the driver's side fixed, the passenger side air bag seat sensor malfunction light came on while i was driving the vehicle! i've spoken to bmw's service department & authorized bmw mechanics regarding the air bag sensor mat failing & was told it was a very common problem.that it was so common, the waiting list to replace/fix the malfunction will take 1-2 years (or longer). This malfunction has been recalled on previous bmw models'the recall needs to be issued on 2011 bmw's as it is still a major safety issue!

When i shift to sports mode it does not engage. No response when i am driving.passenger seat is no detecting if someone seating on it. Air bag malfunction on the dash board.

The front passenger seat belt indicator goes on even though no one is sitting on the seat.

Center brake light falls out of holder. Can not permanently reattach. Dealer added double sided tape but that has failed too. Repair attempted multiple times by sales staff.

In2017 my son was driving on the interstate 91 highway when his front driver tire rod broke off. Bolts were missing both driver and passenger sides. Tires went out and it could have caused a tragedy this happened on a friday night. We paid to have the wheels and tires repaired and replaced. I provide the receipts to the bmw dealer ship but they were never honored or reimbursed.we paid to have waterpump replacement because.in july 2017 the air conditioning was blowing hot air.innov. 2017 the heating system was blowing cold air.feb 2018 blower was still not working, when i found out that there were (recalls). We waited almost 4 months for recalled blower was replaced, we paid for themostrate replacement but still had no heat. Car won't start. So we paid for the battery to be tested and registered.shortly after the car started leaking coolant again april 2018. Defected water pump. April 2018 electric system. I drove the car to bmw dealerships, for fuel leakage now the dealership service dept. Is telling me that the car won't start!!! and that the starter needs replaced. We have not had any previous issues with the starter. And i have already spent nearly$4,000.00within the past 5 months for things that i believe i should not have. Please investigate.in november 2017 the car was overheating

Before i start my description i need to mention that my car has been serviced for all recall notices related to the vehicle make and model!!on december 15, 2015 my 2011 bmw 335i sport model stopped while i was driving. There was no warning messages for this issue.several minutes prior to the car stopping i received a warning message that my wind shield wiper fluid was low.i was driving straight with traffic on a city street approximately 35-40 mph on a clear evening, no weather issues. The stearing wheel became hard to turn and when pressing on the gas pedal the car would not accellerate and it slowed down .i put my flashers on and moved to a safe lane where there we no cars driving, put the car in park, turned it off and removed the key from the ignition and waited for a minute. I checked my vehicle status menu to see if there were any issues, which there we none indicated.i put the key back into the ignition, pressed the gas and the car started.i drove about a quarter mile to a parking lot and called bmw assist to report the incident and ask if there was anything in the vehicle that could check that may have caused this issue to occur. They were very helpful and i was told that there was nothing they could do at that time but i should bring the car to the dealer and have them check it.i took my car to the dealer on december 17th and waited while it was checked.they couldn't find a reason for the occurance. This type of issue is not stored on my bmw key with it happens.the issue has not occurred since 12/15/15 but i don't know if it will occur again during my city or highway driving.there must be a reason that the car stopped and i'm entering this issue in hopes that testing will be done on my model year to determine if this was cuased by a software or hardware issue.please contact me if additional information is needed.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 335-i. Comments: i was driving myon a long uphill section with plenty of room to pass and i started passing two cars when my engine lost power and stalled. The cars i was passing kindly started to slow down to let me move past them, but i kept slowing down at the same rate as they were, remaining side by side with them, leaving me no room to move back to the right and with the truck coming in the opposite direction closer and closer. Eventually i felt i had no choice, and managed to get off the road on the opposite side so the truck could pass between the two cars and mine. I tried to restart my car. It did start albeit with the engine malfunction ? reduced power light on. The recurredthe next day i drove my car to bmw of darien which told me that for the third time (twice on my previous 2008 335is convertible) the fuel pump had failed. Then i received recall no. 13v-044: power supply system about a potential failure of the electrical system resulting in engine stalling, but could not ever get an answer from bmw whether the cause of the engine stalls with my car was really the fuel pump. I have been trying to get to the bottom of this dangerous engine failure for almost two years. Bmw customer service has been completely evasive. One gentleman called me once on my cellphone, not on the phone number i had provided. I called them and wrote to them multiple times. I am happy to provide you with copies of that correspondence that seems to indicate that they did not have a response! thank you very much for looking into this. While in motion on highways, city streets, and turning, certain system sometimes lose power (e.g., radio, windshield wipers while raining, stability control, stable braking, center console, headlights at night). Loss of stability control and loss of stable braking messages appear quite frequently then go away several minutes later. Other messages for loss of other systems also appear sometimes. This appears to be an electrical issue that occurs when at any speed constant or otherwise. These intermittent failures have been happening since i purchased the car with 81k miles. It now has 100k miles.

Blinker lights and windows not working.i was not driving when i noticed the problem.i was pulling out of my driveway but did not proceed when i noticed the windows and lights weren't working.both blinker and high beams are not working.

Hello, i wanted to bring to attention the failing footwell modules in e9x generation bmws. The modules have a high failure rate and when they become inoperable you lose your headlights, turn signals, locking and unlocking doors, power window control and the ability to move your mirrors. It is a serious safety concern that bmw has hidden from its customers as it is a known extended warranty but there is no recall for such an important component. I recently had my vehicle in to have it replaced and was declined as it had not failed enough. Essentially they want me to have an unsafe vehicle before the repair will be performed. I do have documentation that the unit is in the early stages of failing but bmw still refuses to honor the extended warranty.

I would formally like to report a major safety concern i have regarding my new 2011 bmw 335is convertible.from a standstill without modifying any of the default configurations on the car, flooring the gas pedal, the car lurches forward (as expected) and then power completely cuts out for a second and then will continue on its way.my guess is the dsc is kicking in causing power to be reduced and then re-established.my concern is that a brand new car should be able to be floored without this happening.i recently had this exact situation occur as i was pulling out into traffic and very narrowly missed getting pummeled by another car when power was cut to my car.i have taken my car to my bmw service station and although they agree that the car should not do this?they at the same time say the car is operating normally.their advice was to turn off dsc in a situation i want to floor it.this is my 3rd bmw 3 series convertible and i have never experienced this.also, i do not think the driver should be forced to consider this before pulling out in traffic.and, if i were to lend my car to a family member, how would they know.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 335i. The contact received a notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 14v176000 (camshaft bolts/vanos) and stated that the part needed was unavailable to perform the repair. The dealer was unable to provide an expected date for the remedy part to become available. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Driving down road and car loss power. Then stop car, took a well start car,the check engine light came on, make home. Later slow cranking car and losing power well driving. Next day engine light turn off. Then later engine light back on car runs with less power and slow cranking up. I only had my car 1 yr and bmw dealership says it my hpfp/injector it's not good everything start happening right after warranty end on car that was left from first person purchase. And i love my car but this not looking good..

The vano housing system bolts all broke off and fell into the engine causing sudden failure and stopping of the vehicle causing it to need to be towed. Upon some researched i learned that in 2014 bmw of north america issued a recall for 2010-2011 bmw 3 series (n55 engine) models for this exact defect except apparently my vin was not included. However, clearly my vehicle should have been included because it sustained damage and could have caused me harm by sudden stoppage. The car is currently being looked at by bmw of rockville, md and bmw is attempting to skirt responsibility

Well maintained vehicle with approximately 81,000 miles when the rod bearing broke. Bmw has a record of rod bearing failures and recalls. Bmw is not helping in my case and from my research there has been rod bearing failures in the same year and model as mine. I was driving when i heard knocking in the engine. I pulled over, had to be towed ajd bmw said the rod bearing went. They said it just went. Plenty of oil in the engine so it wasn't that. I was going about 60 mph when all of this happened

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 335i. The contact stated that the service engine warning lamp illuminated several times and the engine was riding extremely rough. The contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 14v176000 (engine and engine cooling), received the recall repair and within four months the failure recurred. The contact stated that the service engine warning lamp illuminated again and the engine was making a loud noise. The contact pulled the vehicle over and after several attempts it was able to restart which reset the computer. The contact later tried to start the vehicle and the key would not turn over. The vehicle was towed to the authorized dealer for further inspection and diagnosis. The recall remedy did not repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

While accelerating from a stop into traffic, the charge pipe leading from turbo to engine ruptured causing a dangerous loss of power which resulted in a near collision.bmw uses plastic for the charge pipe which is easily cracked under normal turbo boost loads.

Vanos bolts backed out after recall service replacement completed. Vehicle went into safe mode on the freeway suddenly.

Engine shut off loss of power steeringloss of ability to accelerate while driving on 7/27/17, our 2011 bmw 335i's ability to accelerate stopped, rpm increased but still in drive not in neutral. During loss of accelerate, power steering failed and was unable to pull off side of the road. This happened while vehicle was in motion on a busy city street. Had to put on hazards in middle of street.

Driving 40mph, smoothly at consistent speed, in middle lane of 3 lane road during morning rush hour. I had been driving for about 10-15 minutes after car had been in garage the night before. Attempted small acceleration, car did not respond, engine had turned off unclear if before or at time of attempted acceleration. Power steering was off. I put on my hazards, slowly drifted to stop, put car in park, attempted restart, first attempt failed, waited 15 seconds and second attempt successful. For next 3 hours, the engine had a rhythmic grinding sound which then stopped. Fuel tank had been filled the day before and was not near empty. Took to dealer, they have not been able to replicate event or find anything to fix.

After starting the car, the center console gave an error message"engine malfunction. Engine operating at reduced output. Possible to continue. Drive with caution. Have the system checked by the nearest bmw center."the car could not go more than 2mpg and the entire car was shaking. I turned the car off and turned it back on and it did the same thing. I took it to the bmw center and i am waiting to get it back. They claim it had something to do with the fuel pump or the fuel injectors and the detection of ethanol in the gasoline.

Engine seized 10 miles after oil filter housing gasket was replaced. Car has 107k miles and has been meticulously maintained. Now i'm going to have to spend from $8k-$10k for a new engine. Never received a warning light. From what i've been reading, this is not uncommon after that specific job is done and the gasket starts leaking around 100k so it is necessary to address.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 335i. While driving 55 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle began to hesitate and seize. The vehicle was towed to fields bmw south orlando (located at 9750 s orange blossom trail, orlando, fl 32837, (407) 956-6300) where it was diagnosed with needing the engine block replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 14v176000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer has been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 78,250.

Upon driving at highway speed (70+mph) the car slowed down (engine braking) to approx 40mph instantly. The cars behind me were forced to brake forcefully. An accident was avoided because it was sunday morning and light traffic. The car displayed "engine malfunction-drive to the dealership". The car was without power - just coasting at 40mph or so, not able to accelerate. I managed to get it over to the dealer - fields bmw of northfield, il. They kept it for a week - told me it was a computer malfunction that cut off power to the pressure converter for the turbocharger. When asked if this can happen again, they said possibly. I called bmw of north america customer service 1-800-831-1117 spoke to [xxx] extension [xxx]. I described the life threatening malfunction and i asked him to talk to the engineers and to get back to me on whether this can be avoided in the future. Next time we will be looking at a fatality for me or other drivers. I also asked him to extend the warranty to 100,000 miles due to the proven lack of safety and reliability. He never responded to my requests - i called today - 8/25 - he told me as far as bmw of north america is concerned - there is no issue with the vehicle. I believe that due to the possible future loss of life, this issue needs to be investigated. I am available for comments/contact.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Water pumped failed after 40,400 miles only.the car was well maintained by dealer.the age of the car is 5 years and 6 months after purchase.water pump failed during in town driving.speed was under 30 miles/hr.

I was driving in a parking lot at about 5mph, and the vehicle suddenly stopped on its own while i was still pressing the accelerator. I continued to press the accelerator, but the vehicle would not move. After 3 or 4 minutes of trying to determine what the issue was, i put the car in park and restarted the engine. The car was able to accelerate once i turned the car off and restarted. If this would have happened while in traffic, it would have put many people at risk. No one was harmed because i was in a walmart parking lot traveling at 5mph when the car stalled, but i am unsure what caused this to occur. This situation seems to be related to the national highway traffic administration's recall number 14v176000, as it describes what i experienced while driving the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 335i. While driving various speeds and accelerating, the speed decreased and the message "engine pressure reduction" appeared. In regards to the vehicle stalling, the coolant pump and the water pump were replaced. Furthermore, the dealer found a leak in the seal of the radiator and diagnosed that it needed to be replaced.

When the contact attempted to use the air conditioner, it failed to blow cold air. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called motorwerk bmw at (952) 888-2700 (located at 1300 american blvd w, bloomington, mn 55420) and was informed that the part was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 335i. The contact stated that the passenger's side rear tail light malfunction message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not taken to the local dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but provided no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.

Vehicle has been experienced cold start issue since about a year ago, it cranks and start up fine however the engine rpm will drop and struggle to stay at idle, engine eventually will stall within 2-3 seconds. Last week while waiting at a traffic light on a local street, the engine stall on its own, check engine light came on but went away after a minute, i managed to restart and drove to destination. This was the first experience of stalling during normal driving and first incident which the check engine light comes on. Brought a car to a independent bmw technician and fault code was indicating high pressure fuel pump was the source of stalling.

While the vehicle was idling at a red light, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. Also, "vehicle operating at reduced power level" displayed on the instrument panel. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that this was the third time the failure occurred. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic who determined that the high pressure fuel pump failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

I was driving when my car immediately shut off almost causing me to get hit from behind. Luckily, there was a gas station for me to quickly pull into and get out of the lane before completely coming to a halt. I'm confused as to why there isn't a recall on the 3 series. This is can cause fatalities.

Long crank times to start the engine. Had it diagnosed by an mechanic who determined the high pressure fuel pump was failing.he also was able to determine that this particular problem existed in years 2007,2008,2009, and 2010.he was sure bmw would replace the pump since those years had been granted an extension on that part to 10 years and 100,000 miles. When i took the car to the bmw dealer i was informed that my car was "too new" and would not be included in the warranty extension. I pointed out that was clearly the same issue as the previous four years, but they said no.i contacted bmw north america, and discussed the matter with them to no avail.i had the faulty pump replaced out of my own funds.i filed a complaint with the bureau of automotive repair in california, who did an investigation on the complaint, but closed the matter out.they suggested i file a complaint with your department in hopes that eventually 2011 models will be included in the warranty extension and i could get some sort of refund on the known faulty pump.the car was stationary while long crank times were noted. Replacing the high pressure fuel pump has solved the problem.

I'm having the exact same issue the 2007-2010 bmw 335i's were having with the fuel pump. Reduced engine power error message on navigation screen.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 335i. While driving various speeds and accelerating, the speed decreased and the message "engine pressure reduction" appeared. In addition, while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to niello bmw in elk grove, california where the high pressure fuel pump was replaced along with the asa bolts. In regards to the vehicle stalling, the coolant pump and the water pump were replaced. Furthermore, the dealer found a leak in the seal of the radiator and diagnosed that it needed to be replaced. The manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in the recalls related to the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

My vehicle has been diagnosed with a bad high pressure fuel pump. After doing research online i found that bmw had a recall for engines n54. I'm having the same exact issue as the n54, my engine is the n55. My car is not usable and bmw does not want to acknowledge this is on my n55 engine. Bmw clearly acknowledges that the manufacturing of these high pressure pumps were bad they should have a recall done for the n55. What i am looking is for bmw to cover this issue.

While driving the car will automatically go into neutral. When idle too the car goes into neutral and you can't shift into drive. When driving on the highway it hits neutral and the car redlines, the car will coast down the highway until it hops back into gear

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 335i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v067000 (powertrain); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was unable to confirm when the parts would be available. The contact was advised to bring the vehicle to the dealer for inspection before the remedy parts would be ordered. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Takata airbags-i received a recall notice (16v-071) in march 2016, but the problem has not yet been corrected.ten months have passed and i have called bmw monthly and continue to be told the parts are not yet available and they are unable to provide a date when the parts will be available. This is an unacceptable waiting time with no schedule for the repair.

When i shift to sports mode it does not engage. No response when i am driving.passenger seat is no detecting if someone seating on it. Air bag malfunction on the dash board.

The front passenger seat belt indicator goes on even though no one is sitting on the seat.

This complaint is concerning my 2011 bmw 335i. I have been having problems with my bmw since about 9000 miles on the vehicle. The brakes keep locking, the rotors keep grinding and grooving, nose coming from the brakes while driving and stopping, and the dealer has changed them more than 3 times and the issues continues to happen. They advised me that they cannot fix it and there is nothing else they can do. Please help me with my vehicle issue. It has been parked from more than a year and a half and i feel that it is a safety issue. I feel like my life is in danger if i drive this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 335i. While driving approximately 15 mph, the power steering seized without warning and the vehicle struck a curb. The contact did not sustain any injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician replaced all four tires, the front suspension, and rear axle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000. ..updated 12/29/14

Tension strut failure (driver side, front); this component controls fore and aft motion of the wheel & tire.when it fails the remaining front suspension assembly including the wheel and tire impact the wheel well causing violent bucking and shaking which is worsened when the brakes are applied.my failure occurred when i applied the brakes on a smooth, paved road at less than 55 mph.the car was disabled and had to be towed.i believe that had i been traveling at interstate highway speeds i would have lost control of the vehicle and possibly overturned.this should be a 'never event' in my opinion.

I am perplexed that nhsta allows tire manufacturers to sell tires without warranty. Any merchandise sold to public has at least 1 year manufacturer's warranty against defects in parts, material and workmanship but not tires. The only part that connects a vehicle to a surface is a tire. Therefore, tires are the most important piece of equipment on a car but yet manufacturers can sell tires without warranting that the tires would perform as they are intended even when they are driven a few miles. Bridgestone re050a rsc run-flat tires driven less than 11000 miles within less than 2 years and one of the tires had already developed a bulge the size of a banana. Please see the attached photo of the tire. These tires do not have a manufacturer's warranty. Not because they are old but because they have never had one. If i died and caused death on the road because of this fault, this company would not be liable. Why? because they are not held responsible by nhsta or anybody. There is not even a section to complain about tires. That's why i have to put this complaint in the vehicle section. Does this mean national highway traffic safety administration cares about our safety? luckily, i caught this before it caused an accident or lives. Are you waiting for enough lives to be consumed by this before you take action?

The sunroof exploded for no apparent reason while driving on the freeway.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 335i. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact's vehicle collided into a tree without warning. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact declined assistance from the emt, but went to an urgent care. Facility for cuts to the right hand, fracture to the right pinky finger, a concussion, an unknown partially deflated lung, and inconclusive x-rays. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company to an auto body collision center to assess the damage. It had not been determined if the vehicle was destroyed. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

Front passenger inside door handle starts to melt during any hot condition. Once melting deterioration starts, door handle gets extremely sticky and soft (leaves a lot of unknown residue on any passenger hand) to any hand touch during any weather condition (cold/hot). Door handle unknown components are touched by passengers and can be unsafe if a kid under 18 eats the door handle unknown component's while inside the vehicle. Handle can be unsafe to a grip in case of accident (could fall off and end in passenger hand). Extremely bad (poor) material were used for inside door handle. Pictures can be submitted if requested (cmara not available at this time).
