Takata recalli have been calling bmw for information regarding this recall since march of 2016 yet every time i call they say that they are still waiting for the parts to arrive and it should be soon. This has been on going since march and it is now almost november. I am just concerned about driving my car knowing that my airbag may potentially throw metal sharp metal if i was to get in an accident. I think its unfair to have to drive my car not feeling safe. I really just wish they can get a remedy to this problem within a timely matter. They have been saying the same thing since march and it does not look like it will be solved any time soon.

The air bags have been recalled due to them being unsafe and containing dangerous material that could send metal shards into the vehicle when the airbags deploy. We took the vehicle to the bmw dealer we bought it from and they said they could not fix the airbags and we had to just drive it regardless of the fact it was dangerous to do so. Bmw is liable for the issues in the vehicle but is not doing anything to fix it. Hence, i get to drive a dangerous vehicle around with no safety features because of their negligence.

Second incident of on-board diagnostics indicate "malfunction passenger restraint system"dealer claimed they fixed problem.

Takata recall- vehichle airbag safety recall

Fault in passenger restraint system error is being consistently displayed.front passenger seat mat sensor was recalled for prior model years but not for 2008.this recall should be extended to 2008 model year.my vin was not on recall list.

Passenger airbag seat mat occupancy sensor fault. The problem began whenever a passenger would sit on the seat, the airbag light would go on. After some time passed the light stays on permanently. I noticed recalls for this problem in previous years. Upon researching, it seems to be a wide spread problem that just isn't reported. It leads to many just fixing it themselves, or just buying bypasses to avoid forking out over $1200 to get it fixed. The problem doesn't seem like a normal wear and tear situation, and needs to be addressed

Third incident - on-board diagnostics indicate "malfunction passenger restraint system"dealer claimed they fixed problem.

Passenger safety restraint system malfunctions, when a passenger is sitting in the passenger seat, the system malfunctions. This means the airbag will not deploy should there be a crash. This very issue is a cause of a recall by bmw for 2007 models, but early 2008 models are not currently covered despite this being a very common issue with this model.

After receiving the airbag recall letter from bmw, i decided to call the near by dealershipto schedule an appointment.i was told i will be contact by bmw once the parts are available for the repair.i asked for a timeline when should i expect a notification/email etc from bmw.he said mostly likely by the end of 2017 because there shortage on the parts and continue go say operate the vehicle as usual.he also indicated that there hasn't be a serious incident with bmw vehicles involving the airbag.it is unacceptable to have to wait until 2017 if not later for have the deadly defective part replaced.i am basically time bomb machine until one or two things 1.fixed by 2017 or 2. Serious accident?does anyone gotten a decent respond inquiring with your bmw dealership?

Takata recall. It's now been over a year since the recall and nobody has any idea when this will be fixed. This is unsafe and not right!

Car: 2008 bmw 335iissue:driver side front airbag and passenger side head/curtain airbag deployed in a very lowspeed crash (less than 5 mph)my wife was driving our 2008 bmw 335i on a street (hwy 6, houston, tx) in bumper to bumper traffic when the car in front of her suddenly slowed down.my wife reacted a bit late and gently hit the car in front of her.there was a small scratch on the rear bumper of the other car (vw beetle) and a small dent on the front bumper of the bmw.at this time the driver side front airbag and the passenger side curtain airbags deployed in the bmw.the car was disabled and had to be towed.looking at the speed and the damage from the crash itself it is obvious that the bmw had faulty airbag sensors.i wanted to bring this to your notice so that it can be addressed.

When the vehicle was involved in a frontal wreck coming into contact with a box truck at a dead stop from 55mph, the driver airbag deployed, becoming punctured and particles flying all over and cutting up my arm. This causing the airbag to be completely flat.thank god for the working seat belt.

"pass. Restraint passenger" error massage, appeared the first time, i replaced the seat belt tensioner, the error massage disappeared, then came back on about 5 months after. I have a convertible model.

Takata inflators are defective. I received a letter seven months ago from bmw in march 2016 informing me of a recall. I have received no further notice as to win these repairs will be taken care of. Bmw should have to compensate owners for their flawed and dangerous design. As this car is my only transportation i have no choice than to drive a vehicle with safety features that could actually increase my risk of serious injury or death. This warrants financial compensation from bmw. Also, the cruise control stopped working for absolutely no reason.

High pressure fuel pump failure could be the low pressure fuel pump not so sure got codes p3090 confirmed and p142e pending. The car was in motion when doing a turn the vehicle started to bog out and roughly idle i immediately turned to the right and shut the vehicle off tried to start it about three times in one minute intervals car would bog out and shut off threw me those two codes and a check engine light.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact crashed into the proceeding vehicle. The contact sustained bruises to the face. The vehicle was completely destroyed and towed to a collision center. A police report was filed of the incident. The air bags filed to deploy during the extensive impact.the manufacturer was notified of the problem. The failure mileage was 51,284.updated 05/31/12*lj

Vehicle is not allowed recall since vin# does not apply however all things wrong with vehicle are exactly what can be found under recalls: nhtsa campaign id numbers 12e029000,09v257000, 09v257000.bmw fairfax and bmw north america state recall cannot be processed because my vin does not apply. It is bothersome to know that i am experiencing only these 3 problems that so happen to be the only errors and all 3 are on the recall list for my make, model, and year. Perhaps if more vehicles with my part numbers come forward then maybe bmw can own up and actually help current bmw owners with these malfunctions instead of forcing customers to pay out of pocket on known bmw recalls and malfunctions. The errors are enging and enging cooling: cooling system: fan, seat belts: front, and air bags:frontal. If you are having issues with bmw and them not budging on your malfunctions that hit the recalls please step forward because bmw needs to correct their malfunctions and not let us pay out of pocket on something put together improperly.

On 22nd of sept 09 i was in an accident with my bmw 335i and it was a head on collision and all the airbags deployedexcept my driver's side airbag and that is where i slammed my head against and received a concussion, and this was after this recall and i nor anyone else who has the type of car as me were ever notified.

Side mirrors move up and down even when not set to adjust when going into reverse.mirrors are adjusted prior to driving, yet at times move thehighest or lowest position resulting in mirrors pointed to sky, or road pavement. This has occurred repeatedly.in addition to the problem with the mirrors, passenger and/or driver side power windows roll down after being rolled up.several trips to dealership made in which computer was "reset" with no resolution to problem. Mirror issue nearly caused accident when trying to avoid an obstacle while driving on highway.

Bare wire exposed on both front headlights.

I had noticed a melting plastic smell for a few weeks but couldn't identify the source and shortly after this my headlight burnt out so i went to replace the bulb.by this time, i noticed smoke coming out of my headlight mount.upon opening the headlight i noticed all of the wire shielding had fallen off of the wires inside the headlight mount, causing the wires to ark and melt. Upon comparing against the other headlight, i found the same thing- all of the wire shielding had fallen off.i went to the dealer and was told that this happens all the time, simply due to how hot and dry this model gets under the hood and the headlights being sealed.they said it's usually covered by the extended warranty, however not in the case of my vehicle's mileage. Since the headlight is a sealed unit, you cannot access the wires to replace them and cannot purchase a harness, the whole unit must be replaced at a cost of $800 each.i googled and found several complaints of the same issue.upon contacting bmw hq directly, they said it is a known issue, but not covered, and got back to me several weeks later offering to pay $200 toward the cost of the $1600 repair if i had it done at the dealer, or $2000 toward the purchase of a new bmw.

The doors will not unlock. The lights flash on the outside but even when pushing the unlock button from the inside of the car the doors stay locked. I'm being told it is a fuse, but literally none of the doors will lock or unlock. The only way i was able to exit my car was by crawling out of my window.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Peter pan bmw (2695 s el camino real, san mateo, ca) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

When i started at the car noticed a electrical burning smell and smoke after a while it was gone and it came back. Also driving the car on the highway smell was present.

Encountered difficulty exiting the car.manufacturer's dealer had to install "updated door latch on both front" doors. At the time the vechicle was stationary in my driveway.

Vehicle overheated during high speed driving and began rapidly slowing forcing an emergency exit from the highway. Fortunately i was near an exit. Bmw dealership replaced the water pump but person at the dealership explained that the water pump was probably blown as a result of the failure of the "ibs" cable. Dealer had to replace the "negative ibs cable." therefore, it appears that failure of this cable will require emergency stopping or emergy handling at any speed. The highway speed i was traveling made this particularly dangerous. I have the repair invoice showing the required replacement of the negative ibs cable.

Strong smell of burning electric wiring while driving. Turn off ac. Afterwards ac stopped working. Upon inspection, ac blower motor had burned wiring to the point that it was broken. Had to get blower motor and connector replaced. No visible smoke or flames. Strong smell of plastic/electronics burning when it happened. Wiring damage pretty bad. Vehicle was in motion in city street when it happened smell continued for several minutes even with windows open.

Head light wiring sheathing is deteriorating , it is flaking off causing wires to touch, it has caused an electrical short and fried my lighting ballast and blown headlight bulb.

The doors will not unlock. The lights flash on the outside but even when pushing the unlock button from the inside of the car the doors stay locked. Wife had to exit my car was by crawling out of the window.able to use the key for manual unlock of driver door only; gas tank door remains locked so i cannot put gas in my car and, therefore, cannot drive my car.

Went to replace an obviously burned out brand new xenon hid ballast. Confused about why it burned up(failure rate of 1 per 1,000 quoted by the manufacturer) i took off the back cover for the housing. To my surprise, the power cable's that plugs into the hid ballast insulation was completely gone. Bare. Wires. This is obviously an extreme fire and safety hazard. Curious if my other headlight wiring was the same way, i popped the back housing of it to inspect for another hazard. Lord and behold,it was exactly the same way. Not just the power supply insulation on the wires for the ballast was chipping, all of it was chipping. The drl, angel eye and turn maker wiring insulation was all..gone.someone had recently discovered this issue beforehand as there was electrical tape & solder on some of the wires keeping them together.----------------------------this is a fire hazard!----------------------------

My 2008 bmw 335i has the same issue for which the below recall was issued.the recall needs to be extended to 2008 model year.recall subject : front seat occupant protection matreport receipt date: nov 12, 2013nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000component(s): air bagspotential number of units affected: 76,565manufacturer: bmw of north america, llcsummary:bmw of north america llc (bmw) is recalling certain model year 2006 325i, 325xi, 330i, 330xi sedans and 325xi sports wagons, model year 2007 328i, 328xi, 335i, 335xi sedans and 328i and 328xi sports wagons, model year 2006-2007 525i, 525xi, 530i, 530xi, 550i sedans and 530xi sports wagons, model year 2006 760i sedans, model year 2006-2007 750i, 750li, and 760li sedans, and model year 2006 x5 sports activity vehicles, equipped with certain seat types. I was warming up the car in the morning for work, it was on for about ten minutes; as i sat down put the car in reverse i heard a noise andmy car shut down. I turned my car back on and drove for a short period before noticing that there was not any air blowing.... I took it themechanic a day later to replace the blower motor.... The problem was not the blower motor, the problem was a rectangle shaped cable for four prongs but only three where connected to the blower motor melted and burned out the cable. The mechanic followed the cable and cut the affected burned corroded rusted !!! part of the cable, and replaced it..... If i wasn't looking he would have charged me for a blower....and maybe more !!! i honestly do think bmw should fix this problem... Two days later my driver side window switch when out- i purchased one at orielys auto parts; the water pump also failed the same day and my car over heated that made the total over 2 grand in less than a week!!! , but my blower works perfect wtf !!!everything began that morning.... Because of the cable that shorted !!! oh and on top of that the turbo is making noises and i think its failing now!!!

The engine malfunction "reduced power " message keeps coming on and off , low engine oil message keeps coming on even though its good on oil , the steering wheel was hard to turn while i was driving causing me to have to pull over and turn the car off and back on and the steering was ok after that. It's currently being looked at my the dealer where i purchased it only 3 months ago.

Engine malfunction. Loss of power.

Adaptive head light system failure while driving down the interstate. This is the third time the unit had been replaced within 4 years and under 65k miles. Every time this was a non aggravated issue and not covered by the dealer. Furthermore, while driving the car around a corner at a moderate rate of speed i noticed the car making an abnormal noise. Upon pulling over and inspecting further, it was found to be a shredded belt which had thrown itself everywhere inside the engine bay. Once it was towed to be repaired, it was discovered that the power steering pulley contacted the front bar and, breaking the pulley in half, causing it to have sharp edges which directly cut the belt in half and resulted in the belt being wrapped around the pulley and various engine components. There is not enough clearance as a result of a factory/manufacturer defect and now i am out on the bill.

The vehicle was taken to lauderdale bmw-mini service center (2601 s andrews ave, fort lauderdale, fl 33316), but the parts were not available for the repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

An oil leak from the top mounted oil filter housing spilled onto the rubber accessory belt causing it to overheat and disintegrate.the result was a total loss of all powers, most importantly the loss of electrical charging and power steering.this occurred at high speed while i was driving on the pennsylvania turnpike.the loss of power steering created a situation where the auto was nearly impossible to steer.the loss of the charging system, alternator not charging, caused an eventual complete shutdown of power and shutdown of the engine leaving me on the side of a highway.this was an expensive repair, but fortunately i was able to avoid a collision.this occurred at only a 65,000mile odometer reading.

Sudden failure of windshield washer pump.occurred while i was driving at highway speed and washer was under constant use due to heavy rain and road conditions.

9/11/2013 at approximately 9:25 am est my 2008 bmw 335i spontaneously caught fire from what seems to be an electrical problem in the dash board area. I was making my daily commute to work when the ac unit shut off and then turned back on with thick black smoke pouring into the cabin of the car. Naturally i rolled the windows down to allow the smoke to clear so that i could pull over out of traffic. This made matters worse, the smoke thickened, the horn started honking as if someone was holding the horn down, as i was pulling the car over to the side of the road the smoke became unbearable, i was fortunate to escape the car as the fire ripped into the cabin consuming the entire vehicle within just minutes. The car is now totaled and my insurance is investigating. My query is what if i had other people in my car? what if my car was in my garage? what if i had younger children in the car? judging on how quickly the car was engulfed in flames i know for a fact that even in my very able condition removing two young children from the back seat of the car would have been impossible, this needs to be looked into! seeing as bmw's targeted audience is middle to upper class families i wonder if the public knows of the risks? i know i sure didn't, however after reviewing the blogs and posts online i have seen countless other scenarios unfold almost identical to mine and i know i am not alone. I am currently dealing with my insurance and i am sure they will be in touch with bmw as the car was still under 100,000 miles and just at 5 years of age.

The door lock actuators failed on my car, this caused the remote fob and also inner central locking button to stop working, the only way to get out of the car was to roll down the drivers window and take the key fob apart to reveal the metal key inside, this could then be used from the outside to open the door by putting your arm out the window however all other doors remain locked from inside or outside, the other doors do not have a keyhole and the inner door handles were disconnected and would not work.my passengers then had to crawl over the front seats to escape the car thru the drivers doorand in an accident or fire they would have been stuck.i think this is extremely dangerous and from searching online i see it is a common problem on this model.

I was driving and all of a sudden i could not steer, and the power was gone; it was barely moving; and the light came on saying to continue to drive with diminished speed. I was close to home on an access road; and was able to limp home. It was almost impossible to turn the steering wheel.i took it to global bmw in metro atlanta; and paid close to $3000 for repairs. Approximately a month later i had a problem again. The light came on and stated engine malfunction; reduced power, proceed with caution. In doing research this morning; i discovered that there was a recall on my vehicle for this exact problem.i did not know it; but global bmw had to know it.i called bmw recall and they claim that they are waiting on the parts. This recall has been in effect since 2010; so they must have the parts. Most of the lawsuits were settled out of court with a gag order; so it appears that bmw don't respond unless there is a formal complaint; and this is the reason for this complaint with your office.i will appreciate any assistance that you may provide.

Complete failure of abs pump and stability control with only 29000 miles.cost to repair this basic safety system over $2900.

Dashboard warning indicator shows that stability control is not functioning.

When i started at the car noticed a electrical burning smell and smoke after a while it was gone and it came back. Also driving the car on the highway smell was present.

2008 bmw 335i coupe purchased on july 15th, 2013 from carmax.currently drivable but has major mechanical problems. The extended service contract is still under coverage and is valid at the bmw dealer or any carmax nationwide.when carmax can't fix the car it's hauled over to the bmw dealership to complete the repair and a check would be written by maxcare to the bmw dealer.the only problem is that i've had to take this vehicle in for major repairs several times and i'm not counting maintenance visits.most of these major repairs were repetitive major jobs such as oil leaks, fuel pressure system, injectors.at one time my car ping ponged between carmax and bmw for close to 2 months.consider the time i've owned this car for and how long and how many times it's been out of my possession.i was paying a car note for a bmw but driving around in a a base model rental car most of the time. I've got invoices/estimates where the car went in for major repair or diagnosis during these dates:07/22/201305/30/201406/13/201407/01/201411/05/201406/25/2015the repair invoice/estimate on 11/05/2014 was the biggest one.i was very frustrated with the amount of work being done on the vehicle so i got the car appraised to sell back to carmax and they told me $10,000 which i thought was ridiculous. The work done on that car amounted to almost $7,000 or more just on that one invoice which is 70% of the car value. Also, while the car was in the shop i acquired the history of the vehicle directly from bmw.the history stated that the car had oil leak repair at the pan and gasket and the automatic transmission had a leak in 03/06/2013 and the mileage for this record was completely off. As you can see the date of this diagnosis was a few months prior to me purchasing the vehicle.

I purchased this vehicle and the waterpump i changed two times, keep overheating and almost getting in fire flames, i need help please can someone help me, it should not happen to get to this level, i spend all my money most of the time on my car. The waterpump stop working smoke comes out of engine, become so hot that burned my face two time, when waterpump when wrong, hit my oil cooler, radiator, and much more stuff alone.

The engine is idling very roughly at a full stop whether its a traffic light, or just stop and go traffic.the rpms will spike to 750-800 rpms and drop below 5-400 rpms randomly causing the entire car to shake violently, and stall at times.the incident seems common with my model car though online forums and friends that have the same car and the 328 with n54 engine.my main issue is that there is no malfunction code associated with it, and it happens randomly; sometimes when the car is cold, sometimes at running temp, sometime with ac on, sometimes with ac off. There doesn't seem to be a specific variable causing the issue, but it is a major issue non the less, therefore bmw dealership can't seem to figure out a fix for my problem and continuously turn me away even though i have extended bumper to bumper warranty. This issue has become a safety concern of mine and i don't want it to get worse and causing an sudden loss of power or an accident. I've noticed that there was a recall for 2007-2011 3-series for loss of electrical power/stalling, but i'm not sure if its the same circumstance for my car or different.

I was driving my car getting on the freeway and the electrical system came on stating " engine temperature, engine temperature is high. Drive moderately to cool the engine. If temperature increases again. Have the system checked by your bmw dealer ship." i recently purchased this car on 6/9/2014 on the 30th day the car had this issue with me. The car turned off 4 times with me as i tried to drive back home. My 2008 bmw 335i series was purchased with only 60,000 miles on it. I need to know if this is recall so i can take it in ..been doing some research and seen that alot of bmw customers are having the same issues but years ago.... I need help cause when i called the dealership they look up the vin# and say there is no recall on this car.... Help i don't know what to do?????? i been back and forth with chrysler in clovis ca where i purchased the car and they want to charge me $1500.00....

## vin passed ## bmw3352008 ##purchased car w/ 18000 miles and my 2nd fuel pump is on its way out (scheduling appt next week), brakes make noise when braking (pads are fine), and low pressure fuel sensor is now throwing fuel pressure code 29f3.

I was told by my mechanic my fuel injectors have gone bad and i believe this is from a manufacturer's issue. Please investigate as i know various people that have the same issue with the same engine, year and make. I took it to the shop after i turned it on to drive and the vehicle was shaking a bit more than normal, when i accelerated the car was very vaguely responding to me. This is why my vehicle began to misfire, because of the fuel injectors. I will keep all receipts until further notice of this issue.

While driving on the freeway at approximately 75 miles/hr, the engine suddenly dropped down speed drastically (felt like someone down shifted the car) and started to shake and rumble. Try to step on the gas, but the car won't respond in speeding car; try to step on the break, the car won't stop either. Completely lost control of the car for about 5 seconds. Then, the car suddenly shifted back it it's normal gear and was able to drive normally.read the temperature of the engine oil, the temperature was on "0". This is the 2nd incident.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i. The contact stated that the fuel pump failed and the six injectors may be defective. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop and the mechanic replaced the high pressure fuel pump. The mechanic was able to get the part from the authorized dealer, but the failure recurred. The service engine sensor illuminated. While traveling at a high rate of speed, the vehicle made a noise, sputtered, and decelerated. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop and the mechanic replaced three of the six high pressure cylinders that malfunctioned. At some point, the other three cylinders may need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 69,138.

Poor fuel injectors cause bad emmisioninjectors become faulty and cause less fuel being delivered to the combustion chamber. In turn, cause lean burning, high nox emission. Bmw should cover the cost to correct this issue, (changed out the fuel injectors). Becasue this is a california lev, all emmision components (injectors included) should be covered 10yr/120k milesthanks,

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the message displayed the engine over heating warning. As a result, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

I was driving vehicle on 295 near hamilton nj and while accelerating the car lost power. The car was not responses and when i would try to press accelerator the car and steering wheel shook violently. The service engine light came on. The speed rapidly decreased and put me in very dangerous situation. I was very lucky that i was able to put hazard lights on and pull to shoulder. I turned car off and restarted and the car, the service engine light turned off and i immediately dropped car off at dealer.

I just got belt replaced. About two weeks later the belt pops. The car lost power steering and then would not start. I've researched online n saw that its a design flaw in the 07- 08 335i's but bmw is refusing a recall. Imagine if i was on the highway n it happened. Its terrible.

This incident has happened before while my car was still under warranty. There was a recall on this issue,. However, i only come to know about the recall when the problem existed.i would check with your service adviser because bmw seems to be hiding this issue!this is the 1st incident after bringing in my car for similar issue and 2nd time happening to my car. Driving down the street at about 15 miles/hr and stopped at a red light. The car started shaking when i pressed on the gas and wouldn't move forward smoothly; felt like a car breaking down. Drive about 1 block down (to the next light), the car is still shaking and can't doesn't move. The car continue to shake viciously as i was parked at a red light, so i decided to turn away from main street to stop. The car didn't really move, just glided. Stopped the car completely and restarted it. After restarting the car, the car was back to normal.

The vehicle started making a loud knocking sound while driving on the highway at approximately 65 mph. (video was taken) the oil pressure dropped, a battery indicator light flashed, the power steering went out, and the vehicle lost speed. I almost wreaked. I checked my steering wheel fluid and it was brown, an indication to me the power steering pump went out. A belt also snapped. I purchased an extended warranty that bmw is telling me does not cover the a/c compressor. I am being told that in order for bmw of fresno to make a proper assessment of the steering issue i first have to replace the a/c compressor at $2535.34. As a fleet manager, i know my chain is being yanked.

This is the 1st incident. Driving like usual, up a hill at approximately 45 miles per hour then let go of gas and brake to let the car go down the hill itself. Suddenly, the car sounded like it has shifted and at the same time speed up by itself. Thought i switched to manual drive, so try to switch back, but no switches was mad. Try to step on the brake, the car would not stop. So, try to switch from auto to manual drive, car still has no reaction. Step on the brake forcefully to have the car stop.thank goodness this was late at night so no car was behind or in front of me.

Took car to dealer to check why i am losing oil.as i suspected, slight oil leak is hitting a hot engine part, evaporating, and not showing on the ground.

These vehicles seem to have an extremely high failure rate of the electric coolant pump.when the coolant pump fails, it creates a very unsafe situation as there is no temperature gauge for the coolant, you just get a yellow warning light that indicates the car is overheating and a warning to drive moderately.unfortunately the software waits until the car is so hot to give you a warning that literally seconds later the warning will turn red and tell you to pull over at which time it will reduce all engine power.when this occurred i was in heavy traffic in the fast lane doing 70-75 mph, the warning popped up and by the time i read it on the screen, it had turned red and basically felt like i removed my foot from the gas pedal in traffic.i had to cross 3 lanes of heavy traffic with no power at all, car was basically coasting and could not even maintain speed enough to pull over, quite dangerous with cars swerving and honking.it is ridiculous how early the pump failed but even worse how dangerous the situation is that it creates when it happens.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i. While driving 5 mph, the rpms fluctuated without warning. The contact called bmw of tyler at (903) 229-4409 (located at 2401 w sw loop 323, tyler, tx 75701) and was informed to file a complaint with the service manager. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 19,051.

I purchased a 2008 bmw 335i. Since 2008 it has been serviced at least twice for engine service light which resulted in replacing hpfp.in august 2010, the engine service light along with a slow and rattling start, odors of gas, and shaky rough ride -since then, my 335ihas been serviced six times without avail.bmw na recall and bmw fairfax, va mechanics replaced the fuel module after the seventh service appointment since aug 10.the car expectedly looses power while driving on the highway.

Why driving my vehicle, i received a yellow warning followed immediately by a red warning.while trying to understand the issue the car began to lose power, causing unsafe highway handling.once i was able to get over, it was determined that the car was overheating.the water pump failed rendering the car disabled.i have driven quite a few cars and have never seen a water pump disable the car so quickly and create a dangerous condition.upon doing some research, talking to repair mechanics this problem appears to happen all too often in bmw's.

335i giving trouble and causing safety issues.car loses power while driving and engine goes into crisis mode.

After starting my bmw it occasionally will run fine for between several hundred feetand three quarters of a mile and then briefly stall.this has happened while on the highway.it seem to happen after it has been parked for a short period of time (anywhere from a few minutesto a little over an hour).one time i had to coast off the road and re-start the car.the other two times the car has briefly stalled (all the dash lights come on as if it has been shut off with the key on), the car slowed down and then the motor caught again and began running normally.my car has been into the dealer several times.the last time they replaced the #4 spark plug and this seems to have fixed another problem i had with the car running with low power for a few moments, however it has not cured the stalling issue.i am reporting this because i think that it could be very dangerous if someone were passing a car or in heavy highway traffic when this happened.i am hoping that the dealer will eventually be able to fix my problem.i have approximately 44,000 miles on my car so ihave about 8,000 miles left in warranty.

While driving at 35 mph in an area where there was no pull off and a blind turn and the temperature gauge was well within the normal range, an overheat engine light indicator came on and the car immediately lost power leaving us in the middle of the road obstructed around a turn.the time between the warning and the car last power was a few seconds with no other warning.this was an extremely hazardous and dangerous situation.after about 5 minutes, we were able to restart the car and get it about 1/2 mile, thus removing it from the middle of the road, again losing power with no warning.a qualified car repair center said it was a faulty water pump (the car has 56,000) and they said that many other bmw owners with my type of car are having the same issue; in fact they told me another owner had their car in for repair with the same issue and bmw was not cooperating.i researched both complaints on this site (which confirm the same issue) as well as bmw owner's forums which likewise confirm the same issue as well. I called bmw and they said there was no recall and that they would not address the issue.this is a dangerous and unfortunate position for bmw to take.not only is it unacceptable for bmw to ignore a known water pump issue that fails prematurely, but the car looses power without time to react.for the sake of safety, i ask this please be addressed.

Was driving at highway speeds when engine suddenly lost significant power and car displayed an engine failure light.

We were driving on the florida turnpike for ~100 miles and then exited. At the first red light the car stalled and refused to run normally. It sputtered and stalled repeatedly. We were fortunate that a dealer was within 1 mile and was able to effect repair. The problem was failure of a pressure pump which we were told is a known problem with car. Bmw has not despite the frequency of this problem put out a safety recall. This is a very unsafe problem. Had the pump failed a few minutes earlier we would have stalled on the fl. Turnpike while traveling 70 miles per hour. The government should require bmw recall all vehicles with this pump. Our car had only 4400 miles on it at time of failure and was in fro servicing 3 weeks prior. There is no excuse for this condition. When we contacted the dealer on the phone who repaired our vehicle he diagnosed the problem on the phone. Obviously this is a well known to bmw and frequent problem.

The contact owned a 2008 bmw 335i. While walking to the parked vehicle, the contact noticed smoke coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact opened the door and saw flames coming from the floorboard. The contact extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. The contact stated that the blower motor caught on fire and melted through the dashboard and glove box. The dealer (hansel bmw of santa rosa, 2925 corby ave, santa rosa, ca 95407) stated that they had to wait to hear from the manufacturer before they could make any decisions on how to handle the failure. They also directed the contact not to touch anything in the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that they never heard of the blower motor catching on fire. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number:17v670000 (engine and engine cooling). The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

2008 bmw 335i infamous failing high pressure fuel pump (hpfp).symptoms of a failing pump are long cranks upon start up and if it fails during driving, it can leave you stranded. My hpfp failed only once around 22,000 miles and was replaced promptly by bmw.

On july 24, 2010, my 2008 bmw 335i sedan experienced an hpfp failure in heavy traffic at highway speed.my 335i (delivered july 2008) has had long start cranks for at least one year. My washington, dc bmw dealership has said it cannot replace the hpfp until it fails or throws an electronic code. On july 24, i was driving approx 500 miles to a vacation. 350 miles into the trip, on i-87 at approx 65mph in very heavy traffic, a car cut into my (middle) lane. I moved to the left lane and quickly applied medium throttle to keep up with traffic. My engine stumbled severely as i changed lanes/accelerated and the half-power engine light came on. The car began running extremely roughly, would not accelerate and lost speed rapidly, in the left lane of very crowded highway. The car behind me nearly rear-ended me. I shut off any accessories (air conditioning, stereo, etc.), pushed the gas pedal to the floor and was able to maintain approx 50-55mph on a long downhill as i merged over to the right lane and was able to get out of traffic.as i pulled off, the car neared a stall, with the engine idle jumping wildly. I turned the car off. A minute or two after turning it back on, the half-power engine icon came on again, along with a service engine soon light, and the engine again had almost no power to accelerate and ran roughly.the hpfp and lower pressure fuel sensor were replaced by keeler bmw, latham, ny, on july 29, 2010. My car had received the software update during a past service.i've known about the hpfp problem for several years. Because of the long cranks, i have been waiting for mine to fail and hoped it would not be in a dangerous situation. I noted a recent article in which a bmw spokesperson said the failures are not occurring at highway speed. Given my experience, bmw needs to be honest about this problem. I was driving at highway speed, in very heavy traffic, and feel fortunate to have come out without getting in an accident or worse.

I have a 2008 bmw 335i and the car has lost power on four occasions, while it was being driven.the dealer was not responsive to my complaints even after it spent over a month at the dealer in 2009.they kept saying the repaired the car, i would drive it home and then the next day when i went to start it the car would an engine failure light would come on and the car would shake terribly.the keep telling me it is the fuel injection and that has been replaced a number of times but i am fearful to drive the car on the highway in case the engine fails again.

I have had issues with the insulation sleeves on the headlight wiring flaking off. I witnessed short circuits and sparks while signaling and driving at night. All the wires are already close to eachother and now the insulation is completely off causing a fire hazard and fixing this myself is impossible as well as costing over 1200 dollars just to buy new headlights.

After driving up to 75mph at hwy, i parked my car at parking lot and 15 minutes later , someone notified me that there'ssmoke coming out from my engine bay. I immediately opened the hood and the right headlight was on fire also spread to the heat shield (attached to the hood). I was able to extinguised the fire but the top part of the headlight melted thru the wires. I read that there are several issues with this headlight and want to know if bmw has recalled this light. I looked it up and the part itself cost around $1,100 plus labor. If this is a defect, bmw should replaced this part at no cost to the customer.

I have a 2008 bmw 335i, and recently i noticed something that is a huge safety issue, and is a major fire hazard as well. Inside of the sealed headlight housing, is a wire harness that's used to power the headlights. That harness has several wires coming out of it, and each one of those wires has a protective colored insulated coating that distinguishes the wires from one another, such as power, ground, etc. Well, every single wire that comes out of that harness is cracked and missing sections of insulation all together, which exposes the copper wires underneath. This is a huge fire safety issue, and upon researching it i noticed dozens of people experiencing this same exact issue. I have gone through two sets of headlights and now it is very apparent as to why this is happening. The wires inside there are touching and keep shorting out my headlights. I've attached a picture showing that i've even had to stick a piece of electrical tape in there as an effort to try and avoid a catastrophic event. Hopefully this is taken a bit more seriously by bmw and they are motivated to do something about it as soon as possible before anything tragic occurs.

High beams no longer can be relied upon to stay on.dash light says they are on, but they aren't. They will stay on for about 30 to 40 seconds then go to low beam only.

I was on i95 north, headlight wiper system blew-out the headlight washer device during use.

2008 bmw 335i engine malfunction came on for 3rd time this year and 1 week after the last time.fuel injector was replaced, but i've lost all confidence in this vehicle.it occurred on startup.after dropping off car for service i contacted bmwna customer relations to see what options i have under ca lemon law as i can't drive this vehicle with any confidence.will hear back from them on 11/19/2009.

Lost engine power due to malfunctioning fuel pump.the problem has occurred twice since the car was purchased in 1/2008 - in 4/2008 and 5/2010.both times the dealer replaced the defective fuel pump at no cost.

My 2009 bmw 335i experienced a high pressure fuel pump failure while driving.this failure caused my vehicle to stall and become inoperable in traffic.the vehicle had to be pushed out of the intersection and required a tow to the dealership.the fuel pump was replaced by the dealer.hpfp failures are a common problem with the bmw n54 engine and have been a recurring problem since the engine was first introduced in 2006 and still plagues vehicles currently manufactured.some people have had their fuel pumps replaced 3 or more times.the failure mode of this component creates a safety hazard for the driver.while bmw has extended the warranty for this component they have not addressed the root cause and the safety issues still remain.note:the vehicle selector did not have the 335i as an available model for model year 2009.i selected 2008 so that the vehicle model would be correct.

2008 bmw 335i sedan. Hpfp (high pressure fuel pump) failed at 11,000 miles-car goes into limp mode (half power). Hpfp replaced at dealer. New pump failed at 13,000-also replaced. Now at 15,000 miles, car is experiencing long cranks again (symptoms of pump failure) again.

Car showed signs of long crank, when starting and hesitation when driving the vehicle at all speeds.eventually the check engine light would come on and off.car eventually stalled out and engine light came on when driving on the freeway in heavy traffic, all power was lost in the vehicle including steering.dealership replaced the high pressure pump, and two month later when it failed again reprogrammed the car.two additional visits to the shop for the same circumstances-car stalled on the freeway losing all power and dealership replaced injectors, ignition coils, sparkplugs and the most recent claim that the car was low on fuel with 1/4 tank!when car dies all of a sudden on the freeway at a speed of 60+ miles per hour is extremely dangerous.seeing all the others with the same problems made me realize that bmw is not going to address the problem until something tragic happens.

I have a 2008 bmw 335i convertible. On two occasions, the fuel pump has malfunctioned coming off of the freeway in los angeles, resulting in complete lack of power. This has put me and my family's life in danger. I have read countless other reports of this occurring. Please make bmw issue a recall, asap before someone gets seriously injured.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i.while driving at any speed, the vehicle stalls.the radio and instrument panel lights remain functional, but all the other components stop working.the vehicle was towed to the dealer.they placed gasoline in the fuel tank and the vehicle started immediately.the contact stated that the vehicle had at least a quarter tank of gas and that the low fuel indicator had not illuminated prior to the failure.the failure has recurred at least four times since the repair and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer 3 times.the second time she took the vehicle back to the dealer, the fuel gauge displayed 70 miles remaining in the fuel tank.the contact was advised to keep as much gasoline in her vehicle as possible.when the failure recurred the third time, the mechanic stated that the right fuel level sensor needed to be replaced.after the fuel level sensor was replaced, the service engine light illuminated on the vehicle.during the fourth visit to the dealer, they removed the fuel tank and found that one of the fuel lines was pinched.the dealer re-attached the fuel return line.one month later, the vehicle stalled again and displayed that there was 94 miles of fuel remaining in the vehicle.the service engine light did not illuminate.the contact placed gasoline in the vehicle and drove to the dealer.tests were performed on the right level sender, the harness was disconnected at the jbe sensor, wires were replaced, and the harness was reassembled.the dealer test drove the vehicle and it performed normally for three weeks.recently, the vehicle stalled while traveling 40 mph.the fuel gauge displayed 56 miles remaining in the tank.she placed fuel in the vehicle, but the service engine soon light illuminated.the failure mileage was 7,025 and current mileage was 14,425. Multiple failures of high pressure fuel pump on my 2008 bmw 335i sedan. The result is the sudden lost of powerand unable to drive the car at more than 40mph.. Multiple failures of the brake sensors and pads.. Failure of central locking system - unable to lock and unlock the car...

My 2008 bmw 335 just stopped without any warnings in the middle of the road while it was climbing up the hill at 35 mph. There was no car behind me. Luckily, i was not driving on a highway.

1. Used regular unleaded as atlanta was out of premium2. Drove vehicle about 20 miles3. Attempted to start vehicle, engine would violent shake then die, engine malfunction indicator would appear4. Dealer replaced high pressure fuel pump.

High pressure fuel pump failed after replacement and now the car sometimes stalls at start.

Another high pressure fuel pump failure in my 2008 bmw 335i.this time it happened without any warning, just after picking up my children at pre-school, i pulled out onto a busy street which is difficult to get a whole in traffic.stepped on the gas to pull out and speed up quickly to the flow of traffic (45 mph), the car starts to accelerate for about 2 seconds, then acts like i took my foot off the accelerator, goes into a limp mode, rpm drop to 4-500rpm and the car shakes and runs rough and will barely accelerate no matter how hard i push the gas pedal.the flow of traffic has to brake extremely hard to avoid rear ending me since there is no real shoulder or any time to even pull over, thank god i was not hit and everyone else in traffic managed to slow down quickly without incident - it would have been easy for this to have ended in a 40mph speed differential rear end collision with 2 small children in my car.i would like to feel confident that i can return my car for repair, but since this is the apparently repaired part already installed and that even the new repair part that will be put in my car has already failed many times according to the dealer, i feel that bmw is just putting me back in potentially the same dangerous position to happen again.my first fuel pump failed at 2000 miles, this one failed at 10000 miles, at this rate i will need 20 fuel pump replacements before the 100000 mile warranty runs out and potentially be in up to 20 accidents when this happens - please reopen this case and investigate bmw further before someone is seriously injured or killed!

Dear bmw of north america, llc: we have been experiencing a problem with the fuel pump and fuel injectors on the above subject vehicle.we've taken the vehicle to united bmw of roswell, 11458 alpharetta hwy, roswell, ga 30076 -- phone# 678-832-4600. United bmw of north america, llc sent us a letter several months this year in 2008, informing us that they were aware of some issues pertaining to the fuel pump on the 335i's.alexander mathis has encountered these "exact" issues listed below in the correspondence from bmw of north america, llc. We've taken the initiative to take vehicle back to the united bmw of roswell on three different occasions pertaining to issues.to our amazement, bmw roswell communicated that the fuel in the vehicle had to much ethanol in the fuel tank.they said the bmw only allows 10% of ethanol in the gasoline and that some test were showing that there was 15% of ethanol in the fuel. Nonetheless, we faxed over a copy of the gas receipt which certainly shows that we put 93 octane gas in both of our bmw's.we both use the same gas stations and the same 93 octane fuel.however, the 2006 330i sedan is not experiencing any problems at all, but the 335i is experiencing that very issues that bmw north america listed below in their correspondence. We never brought this issue to bmw north america, llc's attention.however, we still received a letter in mail pertaining to these "exact" issues.the letter precisely indicated the same issues that alexander mathis is currently experiencing with his vehicle.this is extremely frustrating to the customer that they would have to be caught up in an issue between united bmw roswell, bmw north america, llc and exxon gas station where the fuel was purchased. Personally, i just couldn't imagine bmw allowing their valuable customers to go through such a cumbersome and tedious process to get their vehicle repaired.the vehicle is still under warranty with a little over 46,000 mile.

Hpfp failure once on 10/16/08 and again on 09/30/09.

1. 2008 bmw 335i sedan high fuel pump pressure problem. I almost had an accident.2. It happened 3 times within a year.3. The fuel pump was replaced.

I have now experienced four failures of the high pressure fuel pump on my 2008 bmw 335i coupe in the past year.three of these failures resulted in situations where power was lost while the vehicle was in heavy traffic that could have resulted in collisions from the rear.i all cases the car was behaving normally at speeds up to 70mph and then the engine would stop or go into limp mode allowing travel at less than 20mph.the fourth case resulted in the car not starting.in all four instances the bmw dealer stated the problem was the high pressure fuel pump.the pump has now been replaced twice and the engine software has been updated three times.the most recent instance occurred in late august and required that the vehicle be towed.that is the occurrence reported in the balance of the form.previous failures were in june of 2010, august of 2009 and july of 2009.this is clearly a problem that could result in a very serious accident if it were to occur in close charters at high speed.

1) transmission jerks forward when letting foot off brake intermittently2) car has long starts; i believe it to be a fuel management problem3) car has reduced power intermittentlyproblems occurs about every two days; the transmission jerking forward and reduce power is unsafe.it can't be forecasted during everyday driving.i have in contact with bmw na and my local service center for repairs. Car has approximately 2000 miles; bmw claims no issues with the system. Fuel/transmission issue makes the car hard to predict. Bmw dealer recommended a different fueling station due to ethanol contact; since i started using their recommended gas stations, the problem has gooten worse.it should be noted the car has not technically failed yet.i've created an excel chart to track the issues, events and date/mileage/status of car conditions. I will keep in contact with the service manager of the dealer with the re-occuring issues.vehicle type 2008 bmw 335i coupe (model was not listed in drop-down bar later in complaint).

Multiple high pressure fuel pump(hpfp) failures. While driving down a busy avenue the engine unexpectedly shuts down due to the hpfp failing. This was after the car had made 2 previous visits to the dealership to repair hpfp problems. Currently i am now on my 3rd hpfp in 2months. Unsafe car to drive, especially if this was to occur at high speeds on a highway. Bmw has been having issues for this problem since model year 2007 up until 2010, with no product changes other than simple replacements. Hpfp shows signs of problems when starting the car, due to long cranks, unstable rpm's and engine shuttering.

Bmw 335i 2008hpfp failed. 2nd time this has happened to me.

Multiple fuel system failures on vehicle starting at 27,055 miles, second at 28,711 miles, third at 40,872 miles. Also excessive transmission leak at 35,784 miles.(repaired) several attempts of reprogramming software failed to fix the fuel system problem. Still ongoing fuel system failure symptoms occurring after recent dealer service/inspection. The third breakdown was catastrophic and had to have vehicle towed off roadway.

Bmw 335i engine malfunction light came on again for second time this year.second high pressure fuel pump replaced in under 1 year.

At around 2000 miles on the odometer, the car began having long crank times.i took it to the dealer and they identified the problem as a high pressure fuel pump.the fuel pump was replaced under warranty.

Bmw 335i 6-sp manual began shaking roughly on start-up, rpms jumped up and down wildly between 500 and 2000 and check engine light came on.turned off car, restarted, idling settled down, car ran fine, check engine light did not come back on.same problem on next startup, but check engine light did not come on and i did not turn off car.after about one minute of idling, car began idling normally, drove fine.same problem on next start up--called dealer for service.started car, it seemed fine, so i drove away.on the way to the dealer, the check engine light came on and the car began shaking roughly while driving and had severely diminished acceleration power.downshifting did not help.could barely get up to highway speed, especially climbing a hill.took it to the dealer.hpfp was replaced within 2 days.seems okay, but occasional lurching, perceived lag in acceleration at low speeds, and knowledge that this is a known problem with bmw x35s makes me question the car's reliability.

My car's high pressure fuel pump failed while i was driving on the highway in southern california.i was accelerating to pass another car, the car stuttered, and the "check engine light" went on.after this occurred, the car could barely accelerate.it was the weekend, so i had to continue driving to my destination, as there were no bmw dealerships open to repair the problem.the loss of acceleration made it very difficult, and potentially dangerous, when getting onto the freeway.also, had the car given out completely, it likely would have caused an accident.the problem was repaired the next work day (12/28/2009).according to the service invoice provided by the bmw dealership, the problem was a "faulty high pressure fuel pump."the faulty hpfp was replaced.

The car went into "limp" mode in the middle of the highway and had to go 35mph the rest of the way on a 40mph minimum. The dealer said that it was a faulty high performance fuel pump and that it needed to be replaced. This is a very dangerous situation as i could have almost caused a crash while moving to the shoulder at 35mph on a fast highway.

When starting my car the engine jerked and almost stalled on start-up.also under normal driving conditions car acceleration is sluggish and is "jerky" during braking.this has been a recurring problem since i took delivery in october 2007.fuel pump and fuel injectors have been replaced twice.car is in the shop on average of once every 3 weeks!dealer continues to replace parts but the same problem occurs.parts seem to be defective!

Bmw 335i 2008. Vehicle malfunction during highway cruising.loss of engine power due to fuel pump failure. Possible cause for accident if not taken quickly in consideration. Driven the rest of the way under the speed limit at 60mph the or less.

I bought a new 2008 bmw 335i convertible.at approximately 13,000 miles, 12 months after purchase, the high pressure fuel pump failed "engine malfunction-reduced power".the car began shaking when trying to start it.it took progressively longer to start the car.a brand new fuel pump was installed by bmw of dallas.12 months later, the same problem recurred with similar symptoms.roseville bmw kept the car for 1 week and updated the software claiming bmw authorized the safe release of the vehicle per their standards.the service personnel instructed me that there is really no fix for the car and numerous customers have come in for this issue, some with extremely unsafe presentations, such as the car suddenly losing power on the freeway while going 80 miles/hour in front of a big rig.he said that my problems are related to this safety compromise.i took the car home after roseville bmw deemed it safe.the next morning, i turned the car on and the car started shaking violently and the rpms would go to 3,000 back to 1,000 and back to 3,000 on its own.then it began shaking excessively and the "engine malfunction reduced power" light came one.i called into roseville bmw, and the same service advisor called it unsafe to drive and had it towed in (within 16 hours of releasing it to me in "safe condition").they are attempting to replace the fuel pump again but admit that this is not a fix because there is really no fix for this problem.

My 2008 bmw 335i only had around 28,000 miles when i began noticing it took an inordinate amount of time to start the engine. It would crank for several seconds before the engine finally started, especially if it was a cold start. Once the engine was warmed up it seemed to run just fine. It has now been in the shop 4 times since jan 2010 and i'm sick of it! am terrified about the car stopping on the interstate, amid traffic, like has been described in various other posts!

High pressure fuel pump (hpfp) failed and the car immediately lost power.according to the dealer the pump failed because it does not react well to sulfur in the gasoline.

2008 bmw 335i threw a engine malfunction and then went to reduced power mode.

In july of 2009 the high pressure fuel pump went out on my 2008 335i.the dealer replaced the fuel pump and was aware of problems with this particular engine.on november 12th the fuel pump went out again and was replaced.bmw stated that they have extended the warranty for the hp fuel pump but could not give a reason to the defect.on november 30th three fuel injectors and 3 spark plugs were replaced.on all 3 occasions car lost power and or started to sputter.engine warning light came on all 3 times.i've lost all confidence in this vehicle and am currently starting a lemon law claim.

High pressure fuel pump failure.

Have had fuel pump failure four times this month numerous other problems.

Bmw na has issued their "voluntary emissions recall campaign 10e-a02"there are three parts to the recall: ecu reprogram, hpfp (high pressure fuel pump) replacement, and injector replacement.which parts are performed is specific to vehicles vin.i had brought my car into the dealership last month and inquired about the recall.i was told according to my vin that my car with the original hpfp and injectors only needed to be reprogrammed.this was confirmed when i called bmwna and was told that their engineers determined my hpfp was not faulty.so i only had my ecu reprogrammed.i have not had any significantly long cranks.today i was driving with my daughters.as i pulled out onto a major road, the engine started to stumble and lost a significant amount of power.this had put me and my family's life in a very dangerous situation.as i hardly had enough power to pull up the small incline of my driveway.fortunately i had not pulled out in front of a speeding car or cut someone off and was not t-boned or rear ended. My car is now at the dealer getting a hpfp replacement and being run through a "pre-program".

Car stalls if running and is underpowered or fails to start.happened three times during first 15 months of taking possession of the new vehicle.each time was the result of the fuel pump needing replacing.

My wife was on the freeway doing 65 mph and the car suddenly stalled, luckily she was able to move to shoulder. Turns out it was a problem with the fuel pump. I did not know there were other people who have the same problem until i read this article.there should be a recall.

Own a 2008 bmw 335i.car "service engine soon" light went on while i was on highway.it went into safety mode, if i tried accelerating the car shuddered and shook violently.brought the car in to nearest bmw dealer, diagnosed as faulty high pressure fuel pump.pump replaced.less than 1,000 miles later, the car started again with the same behavior.dealer "could not replicate".car has long cranks when starting cold.shudders and shakes.this car is a hazard.bmw has admitted the problem by extended the fuel pump warranty from 50,000 miles to 100,000 miles, but this is a safety issue.multiple online reports of repeated fuel pump failure.but, bmw will not replace unless a fault code is captured.this car must be recalled.

Was driving on public roads in traffic and the engine simply stalled out. I tried to start the car again. Difficult to start, but finally did.no power to engine and car simply bumped and sputtered along until the engine stalled again.i was still in traffic. Turns out it was caused by fuel pump failure. Fuel pump has been replaced.

Engine suddenly shut off, lost power steering on freeway while going 65mph. Was able to safely roll to the next exit. Dealership found defective high pressure fuel pump.

My bmw 335i only had a few thousand miles when i began noticing it took an inordinate amount of time to start the engine.it would crank for several seconds before the engine finally started, especially if it was a cold start.once the engine was warmed up it seemed to run just fine.then after a few days the "service engine" light and exclamation point were light up on my dashboard.i took it to the dealer and they explained bmw was aware of the problem with the fuel pump and fuel injection system and they would take proper steps to ensure the problem was fixed.to my knowledge they changed the fuel pump and whatever other seals needed to be changed.car seemed to work just fine for about 6 weeks, now the problem has returned.the vehicle now has to crank for an inordinate amount of time again in order to get the car to start.i am concerned this will not be properly fixed again.the car is not yet at 10k miles and i am having to bring it in to be fixed for a second time.this is very disconcerting.**please note, the system would not allow the 335i as an option for the 2009 year, only when i chose the year as 2008, please note however that this is a 2009 bmw not a 2008**

1. Long cranks when starting the engine in the morning...2. Engine malfunction message, every few days.. Loss power3. Bmw replace high pressure fuel pump.

My car has already failed twice with the same problem, i.e., failure of high pressure fuel pump (hpfp). The problem occurred twice within a year from the time of purchase. It appeared that bmw have no fix to the issue yet. Concerned that this problem is serious and lead to serious problems related to safety. Two hpfp's were replaced by the bmw dealer and there is no guarantee that latest part will fix the issue permanently.

Engine starts are preceded by long cranks, fluctuating rpms and shaking felt at the driver's seat.car going 70mph, lost power upon acceleration on a busy highway driving back from work."engine malfunction - reduced power" warning came on the dashboard, as well as the half engine light.cars behind me frantically switched lanes to avoid collision.the warning message went away after i restarted car later, but kept showing up every time i drove.this happens without fail every time i drive.i've already made an appointment with the dealership to fix problem.this is, apparently, a well known failure.bmwna has issued an extended warranty on the fuel pump system, but has not issued an official recall.this problem can potentially lead to serious injuries/collisions.bmwna must issue an official recall soon.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i.the contact stated that the vehicle had been experiencing a recurring failure in which it would crank for an extremely long, unusual time before starting.once the vehicle was started, it would begin to shake unusually and accelerate extremely slow.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on numerous occasions where he was informed that the fuel pump would need to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 19,500 and the current mileage was 21,000.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i. While traveling at 60 mph, the vehicle began to vibrate abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the high pressure fuel pump was replaced, however the failure persisted. There were no further repairs. This is the second failure of the hpfp in my 2008 bmw 335i. It occurred when i left work and started car and the car shuddered and the indicator showed that the car went into limp mode (reduced power). Drove the car to my child's preschool and turned off the car. Started the car and again the car went into limp mode. Decided to take the car directly to the dealership and the car stalled three times on the way. Two of the stalls were while the car was moving. The hpfp was replaced under warranty the next day.*cw

High pressure fuel pump failure.failure starts off with long starts, followed by rough idle followed by reduced power and failed pump.had 4 pumps replaced.

High pressure fuel pump failed in parking lot. Not driving at the time. It was replaced and 2 weeks later started having problems again. This time they did not replace it. Only a software update. Still having starting problems.

2008 bmw 335i, failing high pressure fuel pump.bmw was reluctant to replace part.

Engine malfunction. Loss of power.

I've have had several issues involving the fuel pump/injectors. All service has been performed at the same dealer. The cost has exceeded 3500.00 in the last 3 years. Car is in the shop again, dealer indicates fuel injectors are the problem, another 1989.00 to get the car fix. I believe this is too much $ for the same issue for a 3 year period.

I was driving at 60 miles per hour on woodall rogers fwy in dallas, when my car started shaking and went into limp mode.i pulled over on the highway and could not get the car to start again.i had the car towed to bmw.they said it had nothing to do with a previous recall about the fuel pump and gave me a $3,000 quote.i had it towed to an independent shop where they replaced a water pump and other items.however, the recall information i have been reading describes exactly what happened to my car.whenever i drive my car now and i accelerate, it still gives me an engine warning and starts shaking.i believe my car is "suffering" from the water pump issue.

01may2020. Brought 2008 bmw 335i to south atlanta bmw dealership to replace rear brake pads (based on inspection reportfrom a jan2020 appt). It was determined that: 1. Oil filter housing gasket: filter housing gaskets & oil cooler o-rings leaking oil 2. Radiator hose replacement. Upper coolant hose turning brown and seeping. 01may2020. Radiator hose was replaced along with conducting brake fluid flush and micro filter. Same day after repairs were complete the car stalls and shuts off and becomes unable to drive. Car is towed back to dealership for further inspection. Upon further inspection the following are identified: 1. Fuel pump replacement: r&r high pressure fuel pump & low pressure sensor per fault code 29f2 2.turbocharger - variable boost control solenoid: both vanos solenoids & oil change per sib.dealership informs me that the fuel pump's warranty has been extended 10 years/120000 miles due to manufacturing issues with the fuel pump. I have never been made aware of issues with the fuel pump or extended warranties for replacing. I do think i should be responsible for repairs on a malfunctioning fuel pump that was poorly manufactured. Bmw should be responsible for the replacement and repair.

Vehicle 2008 bmw 335i lost all power while accelerating on highway (approx. 55mph). Forced to weave thru lanes / traffic to a complete stop on shoulder of road.in addition, vehicle 2008 bmw 335i has engine light on during "cold start".during cold start vehicle states "reduced power, engine malfunctioning".car diagnosed: diagnosis <replace high pressure fuel pump and low pressure sensor>

Faulty high pressure fuel pump- loss of power - engine stall in traffic

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i. The contact stated that the vehicle was extremely slow to pick up speed. The contact applied force to the accelerator pedal to pick up speed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the engine reduced in power as the speed vehicle decelerated independently. The engine malfunctioning and the reduce speed warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the failure was caused by the fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired under a manufacturer's recall. The failure recurred several times after the repair was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who stated that they would not assist with the repair because the vehicle was previously repaired per the manufacturer's recall. The failure mileage was 10,000 and the current mileage was 51,000.

The high pressure fuel pump which was recalled and replaced in 2011 is problematic again. When pushing the gas pedal harder, the car stutters and does not respond to the extra power requested by flooring the gas pedal and makes put me in a dangerous situation. The 'service engine soon' light came up as well. I pulled the car over when i could, stopped and started the engine again and the "service engine" light disappeared. This is the same issue back in 2011 and recurring again. I suspect this has been there for a long time, but as my wife does not punch the gas as hard as me, she noticed this only on few occasions. I noticed this twice in the last month and so, called the stealership and logging a complaint here. In 2011, they said bmw extended the warranty to 10 years and so, this should be covered now as well, but the stealership abviously would not acknowledge. Hope our great president trump show germany their place, and hope bmw pays for the terrible engineering till elon musk makes them go bankrupt.

Car had fuel pump initially replaced when car still under the factory warranty.bmw na will try to avoid the absolute truth. Note injectors for the n54 engineare also on a world wide recall. Now the injection pump from a recall is being calledextended warranty for 10 years or 120,000. Miles well it happened, got hit by a car from rear when my 335i stalled!!!!!!i was experiencing extended starts, followed by enginestalling repeatedly for 3 attempts then it willclear out. Now when light load is applied the engine lightwith the engine half graded out appears (reduced power), engine running violently roughcodes comes up are p142e & p3090. They wanted me to replace my injectors first because they said i have "old injectors" note when hpfp was replaced they replaced the recalled injectors but they changed only 4 ! even though they know it's a 6 cylinderi wanted to tell bmw that when they built the engine they installed all 6 new injectors. Their reply was it only needed 4 at that time, well what a out now your telling me i need toreplace all 6 because their old injectors so the replacement done was to mask the problem!!!to this date they have issues with the current engine plate form n54 - n55epic failure. Some say its also replacement of just a fuel pressure sensor.i'm changing mine on monday bought it online from a bmw dealerinstallation is 2-2.5 hours basic tools needed and care.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i. The contact stated that there was a premature leak and strong fumes of fuel coming from the vehicle, which progressed without warning. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump assembly needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The failure mileage was not available.

My car began to run roughly after a cold start as i was leaving my office.after a few seconds and feeling decreased power, i tried to pull off the road and into a parking spot in the parking garage at microsoft's head quarters (where i work).the vehicle stalled out.i was able to restart the vehicle and get into a parking space, but it continue to run roughly.i noticed an intense smell of gasoline and immediately turned off the engine.i exited the vehicle and checked the exhaust.it was blowing white smoke and had gasoline dripping out of the tail pipes,i let the vehicle cool down and restarted the engine with another person observing the tail pipe.it again was running very rough and had gasoline spraying out of the tail pipe.i immediately turned off the engine.the car was towed to a service center.they have diagnosed the issue is that 2 of the injectors are stuck in the fully open position.as a result, the car is unsafe (i was lucky there wasn't a massive fire).previously, i'd had the hpfp (high pressure fuel pump) replaced under recall.i am concerned that the recalled/replaced hpfp may itself be defective and failed, causing 2 injectors to fail simultaneously (there's statistically no chance of two injectors failing simultaneously without some causal factor upstream in the fuel system). On contacting bmw (in bellevue wa) and bmw north america, they have refused to cover the repair or acknowledge the issue.i am continuing to engage with them on the repair, but believe this is a more serious safety issue.had i not pulled off when i did, the vehicle could have went up in flames while on the highway.

One of the electric door lock actuators failed and caused a fuse to blow. When this occurred the driver door could only be unlocked with the metal key and not by the electronic lock remote.what was so dangerous is that none of the other 3 passenger doors could be opened either from outside or even from the inside with the door handle. Essentially all the passengers were trapped in the car and had to climb out through the driver door which could be opened from the inside with the door handle. Had there been an accident or fire or other emergency it could have taken too long to exit the vehicle.the 3 passenger doors did not begin working until the fuse and door lock actuator was replaced at a cost of nearly $700.bmw is aware of this problem. Si b51 19 07 factory service bulletin.

The doors will not unlock. The lights flash on the outside but even when pushing the unlock button from the inside of the car the doors stay locked. I'm being told it is a fuse, but literally none of the doors will lock or unlock. The only way i was able to exit my car was by crawling out of my window.

We have two remotes for key-less entry into our 2008 bmw 335i convertible. The car has a proximity sensor and can automatically unlock the door when i put my hand on the door handle, without requiring me to press any key on the remote. Both my wife and i had a remote each, and it seems both of us put our hands on the driver and passenger side door handles simultaneously. The doors unlocked, we both got in but apparently the driver side door didn't shut at all on closing. There was no indication on the dashboard that the door is open. As soon as i took a turn, the door swung open freely. I tried to close the door, but it wouldn't latch on. I stopped the car, shut off the vehicle, locked the car with the remote and unlocked it again, and everything went back to normal.this has happened once.the bmw service reps said that they can't diagnose and fix the problem without it actually occurring again in front of them.

My car is in perfect condition, mint...i am a certified fraud examiner. I was on a road trip from bellevue, washington to richmond, bc. While driving in richmond, bc near the auto west bmw dealership, my driver's seat began going forwards and backwards as i drove. Sometimes the automatic button would work and the seat would stop. A minute or two goes by and the driver's seat goes crazy and pins me against the steering wheel and pins my knees against the dashboard. I am barely able to steer and lift my foot off of the gas and apply the brakes. Due to my training, i did not panic...i pulled over into a parking lot, and did all i can to squeeze myself out of the driver's seat. The seat button was non responsive, scared the hell out of me. I was two blocks from the dealership. I called bmw north america and they registered my complaint. I was able to get the seat back, and drove it to the bmw dealership in richmond, as i pulled into their parking lot, and seat repeated itself again. Way to crazy...they disable the motor control unit for the seat. I am getting it serviced next week at the bellevue washington bmw dealership. I have an extended warranty that will cover it...700 bucks...

Then, the car suddenly shifted back it it's normal gear and was able to drive normally.read the temperature of the engine oil, the temperature was on "0". This is the 2nd incident.

Abs hydraulicunit failure.many bmw vehiclesover the past 10 years have had various issues with their bmw abs systems. This is a serious safety issue. Per bmw member sites and the fact that bmw put out a repair kit for the problems should confirm that a lot of bmw autos have this abs problem. The repair/ replacement is $4000.00 on average and i fear people can't afford that and are driving with no abs and most times traction control, i myself still haven't fixed mine due to the expense. Local bmw says out of warranty, too bad ; but no way a $50k car has this big a defect under 50,000 miles.please look into this.

Abs system failure light came on after 20000 miles.dealership told me that it would cost $4800 to fix but that bmw was aware of the problems that people were having and typically offered a break on the cost of the parts as a "goodwill" gesture.this so called "goodwill" was not offered to us and were advised that the car could be driven without the repairs as long as we realized that we "were driving a car from the '70s".how can you garage keep a $52000 car and have such a system/safety breakdown after 20,000 miles.in addition, how can a manufacturer recognize this failure in the form of "goodwill" gestures until they tire of doing so?i would ask the nhtsa to please encourage the manufacturer of this vehicle (bmw) to fix this fault in their production/design at their cost.thank you

Abs unit failed, all warning lights on. Per mech. Common prob, bmw even sells repair kit so common. Very expensive fix, i am sure people driving without abs/traction control. Very unsafe bmw from 2006-2009.

I just got belt replaced. About two weeks later the belt pops. The car lost power steering and then would not start. I've researched online n saw that its a design flaw in the 07- 08 335i's but bmw is refusing a recall. Imagine if i was on the highway n it happened. Its terrible.

This car has been totaled out by my insurance company due to the frame being waped radiator busted suspension warped electrical issues with the blower motor this was the 1st first of my 4 bmws to leave me owing money on a vehicle that isn't drivable location and issue unknown

I have a 2008 bmw 335i (e90) that lost both headlight washer covers while traveling on the highway.these parts struck the windshield with great force and likely hit the vehicles traveling behind my car.these parts likely littered the roadway with debris that could cause other vehicles to swerve to avoid running over them. This is a common problem/defect with newer bmw vehicle (see bmwland and e90post websites for customer complaints).

To whom it may concern:i am writing this letter in effort to make a formal complaint regarding a known safety issue occurring on certain bmw vehicles.on friday, august 31st, i had taken my car (2008, 335i) to the dealer for an oil change.while leaving the dealership, i noticed all my settings were lost. Later, within the hour, i noticed that i could no longer unlock the doors with the remote door opener or from within the vehicle.i could only enter and exit (via the driver door) using the manual key.in attempting to diagnose the problem, i had reviewed numerous sites/blogs and discovered this is known issue with the actuator causing a fuse to continue to blow. I had taken my car back to the dealership on tuesday (9/4). They were too busy to schedule me the next day. On tuesday, the dealership confirmed the problem with the door lock actuator (as many have reported). The dealership also confirmed there have been a lot of complaints.i am very surprised there has not been a recall for this problem.this defect is a serious safety issue. Incase of an accident, water hazard and/or fire, only the driver is able to exit the vehicle. All other passengers would have to climb over the seats to exit out the driver door. In case of a fire, this is a serious problem.

Passenger safety restrain system malfunctions, when a passenger is sitting in the passenger seat, the system malfunctions.this means the airbag will not deploy should there be a crash.this very issue is a cause of a recall by bmw in 2008, but this model is not currently covered despite this being a very common issue with this model.

When i arrived at my destination, i was unable to unlock the front door of my car and exit. I could not unlock it either manually or electronically. The unlocking mechanism failed. I had to roll down my window an reach outside to the door handle.evidently the manufacturer was aware of this problem because it repaired it by installing an "updated door latch on both front doors."i am gratetfull that i did not have to get out of that car because of an emergency.

The key fobs in the 2008 bmws are glued and the battery soldered into place, making it difficult for owners to replace the batteries in the key fobs when the battery dies.once the key fob battery dies, the vehicle is inoperable.bmw should offer a replacement key fob for all model years where the battery is not able to be changed by the owner.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle was shifted into second gear, but lost power and failed to accelerate without warning. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road, but the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the contact's job. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v067000 (power train). The failure mileage was 103,000.

The contact owns a 2008 bmw 335i. The contact stated that the air conditioner inadvertently failed to function when attempted to be used. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to lauderdale bmw-mini service center (2601 s andrews ave, fort lauderdale, fl 33316), but the parts were not available for the repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Catastrophic failure of the sunroof on my 3.35i bmw coupe 2008 model. No known cause. It just exploded and showered the passenger compartment with glass shards.

Sudden failure of windshield washer pump.occurred while i was driving at highway speed and washer was under constant use due to heavy rain and road conditions.

I was on i95 north, headlight wiper system blew-out the headlight washer device during use.

Windshield washer pump suddenly stopped functioning. This is a safety issue.

I purchased my vehicle in march of 2010. I average less than 650 miles per month and drive only on los angeles county streets. A month after leasing my vehicle, all four of the tires split and i was informed by the dealership that it was due to the previous owner not maintaining the alignment. I immediately replaced all four (4) tires with bridgestone potenza run-flat tires, as required by my lease. Six months later, in october of 2010, i again had numerous tire pressure issues, and returned to the dealership november 19. I was informed that there was no issue with the tires, but a tire sensor issue.when i picked-up the vehicle, the sensor was on. I have now been informed that the rear wheel rims are cracked and that the rear tires may need to be replaced again. According to my research, my issues are common among owners with the bmw factory rims in combination with the bridgestone potenza run-flat tires, and causes a significant safety risk.furthermore, my first set of tires was so damaged from the interior walls (not visible unless on a lift) that they could have easily split in normal driving, placing me again at a severe safety risk.
