Airbag warning came on and after research found a recall.i contacted bmw and they claim my vin is not one of the affected by the recall, which appears to be a trend.please assist in finding a solution to this extremely critical safety system.

Vehicle airbag warning and passenger seatbelt warning lamp are displayed simultaneously with passenger "airbag off" lamp illuminated. As a result, front passenger side airbag is disabled in case of a crash. Bmw has issued a partial recall on other models (nhtsa campaign 13v-564) citing a defect with regards to the seat occupancy sensor mat but will not honor a recall on this particular vehicle, which is clearly affected by the issue. Without repair a crash may very well result in undue physical harm to a passenger.

The failure progressed until the air bag warning light remained illuminated.the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. My airbag warning light illuminated indicating that my passenger airbag system was offline.i brought it into my mechanic and they informed me that my passenger side airbag sensor mat and possibly my passenger seat belt sensor had failed.they informed me that the cost to repair would be approximately $700-$800 dollars.i recently received a notification that my vehicle may be subject to a recall for this issue nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000.when i contacted my dealership and bmwna they informed me that they would not repair my vehicle until required to do so even though my airbag system has already failed and it is showing as offline.i'm registering this complaint to document that they are not actively resolving this issue.

The passenger airbag sensor mat is not working and this causes the red airbag failure light to illuminate on dash. It is my understanding that all airbags are disabled as a result.the dealership claims that my car is not part of a 200,000 vehicle recall for this problem and therefore won't fix it.i do not understand how such a vital safety component will not be repaired by the manufacturer and that the consumer must pay well over $500 to have it fixed.i think the manufacturer should replace these and save lives.

The airbag warning lamp came on and stayed on. At the same time the overhead warning light came on indicating that the passenger side airbag was deactivated. These warning lights have been on continually for over a year. There has been a recall for this situation for other 2006 bmw 3-series but according to bmw my vin is not part of the recall as of 11/20/2012l. I find it hard to believe that my car being affected by this known issue is just a coincidence.

My vehicle displayed a passenger restraint system failure message. After researching the issue online, it appeared that bmw had issued a recall for this defect: nhtsa recall campaign id number: 08v384000. However, after contacting bmw, i am being told that my vehicle is not part of the recall. It seems to me that the defect extends beyond the vins that are included in the recall given that so many people are having the same issue and bmw is not honoring the warranty.

Vehicle has 2 recalls, the first one being for a passenger seat occupancy sensor which causes the passenger airbag to not deploy. I have called bmw denver downtown (303-954-4856) and thus far they have refused to perform the recall. They keep telling me they don't have the part for it. When asked for an eta, the only thing they are telling me is that they don't have an eta, and that the part may never be available. This is the only bmw dealer anywhere near my area that is able to perform the recall. My vehicle has the occupancy sensor error displayed on the dash, so i know for a fact the part covered under the recall has already failed. Bmw of denver's failure to perform this recall is placing my family in danger in case of an accident.

Recently the airbag and seat belt sensor indicated a failure.i can attribute such failure to a defective sensor (placed in the seat mat). When i contacted bmw usa, they refused to include my vehicle in the recall (campaign [xxx]).i would appreciate the nhtsa / dot to investigate expanding the recall to all e90 / 2006 bmw 330xi not just models produced after 12/ 2005.i took delivery of my vehicle in 11/2005. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have a 2006 bmw 330xi sport and when a passenger sits in the car, i receive a passenger airbag malfunction light.i was told by park ave bmw in nj that my vehicle does not qualify under the recall.recall id # 57362 - air bags:frontal recall date aug 05, 2008recall date:aug 05, 2008model affected:2006 bmw 3-seriessummary:bmw is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series sport seat, my 2004-2006 5 series standard and sport seat, and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. Depending on the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit, small cracks have developed in the mat. If this occurs, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated.consequences:in this situation the front passenger air bags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system would not be possible.remedy:dealers will rework the front passenger seat sensor mat so that external force application to the seat does not cause a crack to the mat. The recall began on november 6, 2008. Bmw will also extend the warranty on these vehicles to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit. Driving with bag on passenger seat, "red airbag & red seatbelt" indicators light up.upon taking to dealership, their code reader suggested "low battery voltage" caused lights.cleared code.months later, with work bag on passenger seat happens again. Cleared code. Suggested to buy a new battery.bought a new bmw battery, and same thing, happens again.i take to another shop (bmw charges 100-150 to clear code each time...) and they clear code, still "low battery voltage" but suggested i look into this occupancy seat sensor recall.go back to dealership and they say unless code reader says airbag fault, they will not warranty. Through the course of 2 years now, the light has come back on 4 times prior, and now today a 5th time.i have yet to take back to dealership again, but making my complaints.i am not a genius but somehow i think the occupancy sensor mat must be defective yet throws error codes of "low battery voltage".when i check the code manually through the drivers stalk, ccid-97 (from memory) which online referenced to air bag fault.although i have owned vehicle for almost 4 years, it was a "certified" preowned from dealer, and i"m being told that the recall covers only 10 years after the original sale date.which means october/november this year of 2014, i am out of luck.hundreds wasted each time, incorrect diagnosing.and bmw refusing to take responsibility for this recall until a machine tells them otherwise.and until that day comes, they'll keep selling me new batteries and other false hopes to fix.

Randomly while there is either weight from a bag or a person in the front passenger seat, the seatbelt light will appear on the dash and the passenger airbag off light will light up on the roof. This tells me that the airbag will not deploy even though there is someone in the seat in the event of an accident.

I am an owner of a 2006 bmw 330xi and the airbag and seatbelt lamps have been on/off on my car since last november. Air bag and seat belt warning lights on dash remain lit at all times. Additionally, the "passenger airbag disabled" indicator remains lit at all times. There is a recall campaign (see below) for the passenger seat sensor mat issue which caused these problems, yet apparently not for my vin. The disabled passenger seat airbag is a major safety issue, and clearly my vin should be part of the recall.statement on voluntary recall involving front passenger seat sensor mat on u.s.a. Model bmws - august 13, 2008today, bmw announced a voluntary recall regarding the front passenger air bag seat sensor mat involving approximately 200,000 model year 2004-06 vehicles. Passenger restraint system. Fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. The airbag stays off even after having a passenger on the front passenger seat. Front passenger airbag warning light illuminated indicating the airbag system is not working.investigation revealed a failed passenger seat sensor mat as the cause.failure is consistent with the failures highlighted in nhtsa campaign 08v384000.bmw north america position is this particular vehicle (vin) is not included in the recall.this is very troubling.there is a known failure serious enough to warrant a safety recall, however the recall is limited to a very small percentage of the actual vehicles that will experience this failure.research on this site (and others) confirms this is a known common problem affecting several models and model years of bmw vehicles.left unfixed, a passenger seated in the front seat will not have the safety benefits of an operable airbag and this could result in unecessary serious injury.my request is for the nhtsa and bmw to expand the safety recall to include all vehicles exhibiting this obvious defect and rectify the possible safety implications this failure presents.

Driver side stage 1 airbag malfunction occurring in my vehicle with a dash light. When i search my vin for this recall, it does not show up. But it does show that there was a recall for 2006 bmw 330xi's and other 3 series. This problem needs to be addressed for every 2006-2011 bmw 3 series because it affected all of the cars. The consumer then took the vehicle to the dealer where he was charged $ 139.19 for that same information, that he was given previously from his mechanic. The dealer informed the consumer, that even though the recall was for his make, model and year, his vehicle identification number was not included in the recall, because the recall pertained to a particular list of seats, which the consumer's vehicle did not have, even though the defective seat mat was common in all.

Airbag lights and restraint lights became lit. Dealer said it was a faulty passenger side seat sensor mat. Already has had a recall on some of the models. Needs to be extended to other vehicles.

The blower motor wiring overheats and causes the vehicle to catch on fire. This recall has been out for several months now, and they have not had a fix for it yet. I don't need my car catching on fire, i have a one year old, it is not easy to get them out of the car.

The message 'steering wheel lock' came up and the car will not start. I had to pay to bring it home. Bmw says 'it happens to some customers' and they asked me to bring the car to a service center for repair. I see a lot of discussions in forums about this issue. Apparently it is due to a defective lock mechanism.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330xi. The contact stated that the power locks failed and a fuse had blown out. The front passenger side and rear doors failed to unlock from the interior and the exterior. In addition, the contact had to disconnect the battery to reset the ecm. The fuse was replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 169,000.

Owners may contact bmw at 1-800-525-7417.potential units affected:200000notes:bmw of north america, llc.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330xi. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure was recurring and often times the contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle would require a jump start for times when it would not automatically restart. The contact replaced the battery and charged the replacement battery nightly. The vehicle would continue to stall when the battery was not charged. The manufacturer was made aware of failure and recommended the contact have a diagnostic test performed but offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 100. The current mileage was 24,000.

I had a bad experience this morning. When i got into my car, it wouldn't start when i pushed the start button. Instead it had an icon on the dash of the steering wheel with a lock sign on it.i pulled the fob out and put it back in a few times, trying to start the car every time, but no life. This is a very weird problem. The steering wheel lock wouldn't release.i tried to get it started for over 30 minutes, still unsuccessful. I did some research on the internet, apparently it is a common problem in the 06 and early 07 models of the 3 series. In mid-07, bmw stopped putting locks in the steering columns. Apparently, this problem has to do with the electronic lock power draw when starting the car, and a software update normally fixes the problem. If the software update does not work, bmw replaces the steering column if you are under the warranty. All my updates are done because i took it to my bmw dealer on 11/14/12 and they rechecked everything.since it is a common problem and there are many customer complaints as stated in here; http://www.import-car.com/issue/article.aspx?contentid=89276, bmw should issue a recall and be held responsible for this issue.

Recall was ordered in oct 2017 and has still not been remedied. Safety recall 17v-676. I believe we have been patient. We cannot sell the car as is because it can catch fire.

The car began smoking near the port for the iphone charger on the dash (lighter.) the portal was cold to the touch. After about more 20 yards the cockpit filled with smoke. The car was still driving fine and was quickly pulled to an empty part of the parking lot and was turned off.after pulling the hood releasei jumped from the car and shut the door -- i immediately tried re-opening it to let the smoke from the cockpit and the door would not open by touch or with the key fob.i lifted the hood and the engine looked clean. To the far right (my left) onpassenger side, against the firewall smoke was coming out in a thin line and then i saw a small flash of fire so i ran 20 to thirty yards and the car burst into flames.i called 911 and within 3-5 minutes it was engulfed in flames. It had been serviced at the dealer in april 2011, four months earlier. It had no history of issues and was regularly serviced.

Rear exterior safety lighting does not work due to design flaw where trunk lid breaks ground wires. Recall already done on other model years. Bmw skipped recall on 2006 e90s. Many consumers are still having the system short due to ground and crimp issues. Huge safety issue with potential fires and or crashes

The center console is continuing to overheat. It spreads to the cup holders and outward as well. Gets very hot! happens when car is on or when driving

Stopped in a parking lot and locked the door after getting out of the car. The door locks didn't open when trying to open with the remote. The door fuse and actuator blew up. Opened the door with the key and sat inside the car. The doors locked and then couldn't unlock the doors to get out. I was trapped in the car.

Going through my newly purchased, used 2006 330xi, i found several warnings for front headlight malfunctions. Further investigation showed adaptive functions were disabled and the left low beam was stuck pointing left. While the bulbs themselves were still functioning, the light was pointed directly at oncoming traffic and did not illuminate the road in front of me.opening the access panel at the rear of the headlight assembly showed multiple bare wires inside of the sealed housing, the insulation had simply started to flake off of the wires rendering all centering and leveling functions of the light inoperable. Research has shown this is a widespread problem with bmw headlights, for additional documented data and cases please reference the following forum thread :https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/

I didn't get any pictures. My sister has a 330 xi drive to denver at one point of the drive hurdle a pop in the car. Where driving fast no pot holes hit. After further investigation with a mechanic friend of mine. We got under the car the car and noticed the passenger side axel was resting on the frame of the car.there where 3 motor mount bolts sheared off the motor mount brackets an 1 laying on the scid plate under the car.i have read some other testimony about this problem on the internet.i believe this could be a definite problem so i hope you look in to this problem thank you.

Coolant leaking from reservoir tank. A common issue among bmws- and is currently effecting my 330xi 2006. The expansion tank is faulty and wondering if the tank and hoses are tested to even withstand the "bmw brand" name coolant.

Randomly while there is either weight from a bag or a person in the front passenger seat, the seatbelt light will appear on the dash and the passenger airbag off light will light up on the roof. This tells me that the airbag will not deploy even though there is someone in the seat in the event of an accident.

I am an owner of a 2006 bmw 330xi and the airbag and seatbelt lamps have been on/off on my car since last november. Airbag warning came on and after research found a recall.i contacted bmw and they claim my vin is not one of the affected by the recall, which appears to be a trend.please assist in finding a solution to this extremely critical safety system.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330xi. The contact stated that the front passenger side seat belt sensor and air bag warning indicator illuminated, which indicated that the front passenger side air bag system was faulty. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect, but no remedy was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags), although the vehicle experienced the same defect listed in the recall. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 150,000.

Passenger restraint system. Fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. The airbag stays off even after having a passenger on the front passenger seat. I also get a seatbelt sign even if the seatbelt is worn by the passenger. Went to dealer asking for $200 to check problem and $500 to repair.

The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer stated that the vin was not part of a recall and the contact had to pay for the repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

I have an error message telling me that there is a "restraint malfunction" on my passenger seat. It warns me that my passenger side airbag will not deploy in case of an accident.

Affected are certain model year 2006 3-series, model year 2004-06 5-series, and model year 2004-06 x3 vehicles, depending upon seat type. Bmw has found that the sensor mat may become damaged during vehicle usage depending upon the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit.

Apparently it is due to a defective lock mechanism.

I got into my car on the morning of the 29th dec. 2011. I showed a yellow steering wheel lock code (indicating a possible problem). I drove the car after work with no problems although planning on getting the vehicle into service just to have it checked out. I pulled into the driveway and parked the car, returned to it 15 min later and it wouldnt start! after further investigation into the problem the car showed a red steering wheel lock code indicating it would no longer start. After deep investigation i find the this is a very common problem on hundreds of the same model car as mine. Most people are told to reprogram the computer and/or replace the steering column (sometimes multiple times) and then most still have problems.

Warning light appeared indicating a steering wheel lock fault.a fault code scan revealed that the steering wheel lock mechanism was in failure and would result in the steering wheel to completely lock and the vehicle would become inoperable.there have been numerous complaints regarding this defect yet bmwna accepts no responsibility to repair it.the nature and expense of the repair is significant as the entire steering wheel column was replaced to correct the defect.

The steering wheel lock would not unlock.an error message shows on the display indicating a steering wheel lock malfunction.this error would not allow for the car to start.this resulted in the entire steering wheel column needing replaced.

I went to adjust the vertical position of the steering wheel, and the lever gears broke with in the steering column . Now the steering wheel moves up and down freely while driving. I called bmw and they said it's not covered under warranty and there are no recalls.i took the car to a very reputable foreign car repair shop and he saidin his 50 years of fixing foreign cars, he has never seen this happen. I feel this is a very bad safety issue !

This bmw has an issue with the steering column lock and on my car, the column has already been replaced.this is due to a faulty elv.in the event of a failure of the elv, the car is disabled leaving people stranded!bmw's fix for this is either a reprogram or replace the entire steering column, again in my case.this does not come cheap! bmw must be held responsible for correcting this plague problem!

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330xi. The contact stated that none of the doors would unlock except for the front driver's door and the only way to exit the vehicle was through that door. In addition, on one occasion the contact was unable to unlock the vehicle using the key fob and he was forced manually unlock the door. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who informed the contact that the door actuator failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. No repairs were performed.the failure and current mileages were 57,000.

Upon test driving on city street this vehicle with a friend and my brother we realized it had a hard limp to the front passenger tire. After returning it to the lot the salesman informed us it needed a sway bar replace to leave it a couple days and he would have it repaired. After picking it up driving on the city street i realized not only did it have a leak but there was a noise involved this time. I immediately called the car lot and they instructed me that it was only a mud flap rubbing the tire. After taking it to my personal mechanic he told me that my car had been in a severe accident and the entire under carrier was damaged and it was a miracle it was mobile. Quoted price for parts 280.00 and labor 2100.00. When taking it to roadshow bmw they stated there wasn't any recalls. Bottom line is parts fell from under the vehicle while driving on the highway exiting this includes the following: fog light on passenger side, small grill on same side, large bolt (not sure where it goes or where it came from), and another piece of medal. At this point oil began to run out.this car leans to the right now and after owning it for 4.5 months it was mobile for maybe 3 weeks? oh and i almost forgot to mention the tracker stalls the car upon occasions when driving. I've requested for my title via phone twice, via certified letter and fax. I can provide documents upon request. However, i don't own a scanner but will be available to fax if you give me your fax number. I've paid my car balance off without a title?

On 6-3-2016 my 2006 bmw 330xi started on fire in the parking lot at my place of employment.as i pulled my car into a parking space, i noticed smoke coming from under the hood.i parked the car, shut it off and i opened the hood and saw small flames on the driver's side of the engine compartment.i was able to put the fire out myself. I noticed that some engine components were burned and melted.at the end of the workday i had the car towed to ava restoration in dublin, new hampshire.they completed the necessary repairs.the owner told me that there was a short in the pcv valve heater(also referred to as an angle connector) and it had caused damage to the intake manifold and wiring harness.after the repairs were completed i was able to continue driving my car.i contacted bmw in january 2018 after learning that they recalled 2007 models for the same component failure. I explained my situation to them and told them they should expand the recall to cover 2006 models also.i also told them that i wanted to speak to a representative about getting reimbursement for my repair costs.they told me i had to get my car examined at a local bmw dealer and that someone from their corporate office in new jersey would call me about the matter.the representatives at the dealership were less than helpful and the representative from their corporate office left me a message at 8:45 pm one night and then never called me back after i tried to reach her several times and got only voice mail.i received a letter from bmw recently saying that my car now has a recall on the pcv valve heater, recall 19v-273.i believe that bmw knew about this problem for a long time and did not address it, willingly putting vehicle owners at risk.in addition, the owner of ava restoration told me he repaired a number of bmws that had fire damage caused by the same malfunction.

Sunroof exploded-while driving with my sunshade was open 6" and glass closed, at 2 pm on 8/14/19, 70 degree weather, at 65 mph i heard what i thought was a gunshot.immediately after i was showered with glass into the interior of the vehicle.the glass hit my face and body and luckily i was not blinded and was able to pull over on the highway. This is a straight highway, rt 16 nh, and there were no overpasses or bridges, nor was there a vehicle in front or back of me or trees. (sunroof in 1 picture is tilted when i returned home open for photo purposes) i contacted bmw of stratham nh and they said there was no recalls on this issue and repairs would be $2,222.00.through recent research on the bmw forums (https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120494) i have discovered many complaints on this very dangerous issue.i am very concerned since my wife also drives a bmw vehicle, x5 with a panoramic sunroof that has had reports that bmw is ignoring of the same dangerous issue with the glass sunroof reported. Please help!!someone is going to be fatally injured if this is not recalled.

It was raining really heavy with lightning and thunderstorms and in the middle of the storm lightning came down and my wipers stopped working. I had to pull over to a safe place on the highway to wait for the heavy rain to stop before i could drive again.
