Driver air bag light came on 2006 bmw 330iwhile driving at 30 mph in city and its still on. The car have just 19k approx miles. I called the dealer and they said my vin doesn't have any recall and will charge me $171 to just diagnose . I looked online and found recall # 08v384000 on same issue . Posting on feb 7th 2013. This is a safety concern and i need to get it fixed as airbag won't be deployed in case of accident. Hope bmw fixes it .

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v071000 (air bags) for the driver side air bag inflator. The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. Two months ago, the contact called a local dealer (a critz bmw buick gmc mercedes of savannah, 7000 abercorn st, savannah, ga 31406) and was informed that the recall remedy parts were not available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Passenger restraint malfunction warning and passenger air bag turned off

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that the srs warning lamp was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 113,000.

I purchased this bmw new from the dealer around june 2006 (please note the mileage is an estimate) i'm writing to request an investigation into my car relating to the a potential faulty passenger airbag sensor.the passenger indicator light for "passenger airbag off" is activated despite a passenger being in the car.over the years, the light randomly activated when a passenger sat in the seat. However, it would turn off at times so i presumed i had hit a button on the car steering column for a children's seat which caused the light to activate or something else perhaps. Because i rarely had passengers, i didn't pay attention.the light would did not stay lit for months on end.however, now the "passenger airbag off" light remains activated all the time which caused me to investigate. This is not normal wear and tear.i see there is a recall for 2006 3 series bmw models and more for this problem.specifically, my car is a 2006 330i bmw with sport seats. I have called the bmw dealer, and bmw north america, but they only check the vin database and to date have not investigated further.however, i have alerted them that it appears bmw may have failed to recall a number of affected vehicles given the many complaints i reviewed posted on the web by 2006 bmw 330i owners who have the same problem with their vehicles airbag deactivating, but received no assistance from bmw.one owner stated he had (at his own expense) replaced the (defective) installation/part, (the part he removed was the same one as the one under recall by bmw), but bmw like with the other 2006 330i owners will not bear the replacement cost because his vin was not included on the list. Please assist with identifying the additional 2006 330i bmws that were affected by what seemingly is a defective design/component.thank you, seenhtsa action number: ea08001.

Air bag recall

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the air bag warning light illuminated. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the passenger seat occupancy sensor needed to be replaced. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

I had both air bags replaced under the takata recall and now i'm getting a "passenger restraint system malfunction" error on my display. There is an open recall nhtsa campaign id number: 08v384000 that is for the same issue and for my model and year but the vin is not showing that recall.the error happened just when the car was started and it showswhether someone is sitting in the passenger with the seatbelt on or if the seat is empty. I am worried that the airbag won't deploy in the case of an emergency. Please let me know if this would be included in the recall as well for a safety issue. I've called bmw and was told this would not be covered either.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that the seat belt and air bag warning lamp illuminated whenever someone was occupying the passenger seat. Takata recall.this is taking way too long to resolve for affected bmw vehicles.

2006 bmw 330i was not subject to recall and warranty repair of the occupant classification system (ocs for the passenger font airbag (si b 72 o2 06).currently i have a airbag warning light indicating that the passenger airbag is not operating. The code suggests a faulty mat sensor.other bmw's of the same model and year were subject to the recall.the bmw 330i was not included and should be.reading on the e90 message board: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?s=30bdacfbe250258ed6528ec55b5bb6a7&t=358892 confirms that this problem exists with the 330i model as well.

Passenger seat airbags are disabled due to restraint detection malfunction.a message appears upon turning on the vehicle which states that due to restraint system detection fault, passenger airbags and restraint system will be turned off.problem started as an intermittent issue and developed into a continual one.happened for the first time in april 2014 and has continued to worsen.car is equipped with bmw oem sport seats.this issue appears to be in line with recall from nhtsa campaign number 13v-564. However, bmw does not recognize my vin as being a part of this recall.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that the srs warning lamp was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the passenger seat mat sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 08v384000 (air bags:frontal). The vehicle was repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 56,000 and the current mileage was 57,500.

Initital recall was issued over 6 months ago and the parts necessary for repair are still not available.

The vehicle has an unexplained and unrepairable defect related to the main airbag control unit module, bmw part number 65779184432 (current version); believe part 65770394017 applied to my vehicle as-built. The control module generates internal control unit fault code 93d7. Both the airbag warning light and seatbelt light are continuously illuminated. According to dealer technician, the code is locked in and cannot be cleared. Advice provided was that the unit can be replaced and then recoded at estimated cost of approximately $2,000. If a repair can be effectuated with an updated part, then it appears that my car and perhaps all other similarly aged vehicles have a defective main airbag control unit module. A faulty airbag module would be a defect in a critical defect in a safety system's performance that unreasonably increases risk of death or serious injury in an accident. The fault thus poses a risk to motor vehicle safety. Further, based on openly available information, it appears that numerous other vehicles have similar, potentially defective, main airbag control modules. Finally, it appears that bmw updated this part approximately 15 times in a 6-year period, which is about double the update frequency for comparable vehicle--noting that this is based only on my limited review. Regardless, that data suggest that bmw has had some awareness that the airbag control module had performance difficulties. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. While driving various speeds, the air bag indicator illuminated. An unknown dealer and the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 169,000.

Front passenger seat has a faulty seat mat sensor which causes the airbag to be disengaged.the fault has been verified by a mechanic and there is a recall notice for the same year/model of car but it is not specific to my vin number.bmw usa and dealer have been notified but will provide no assistance in repairing the defect without normal compensation unless the vin numbers are extended.clearly this is an issue on other vins within the same manufacturing models and years of my car based on the nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000 recall notice.

Drivers side seat belt buckle/tensioner failed and would not hold onto seatbelt. This caused the seatbelt alarm to sound as well as deactivate the drivers side airbag

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that while entering the vehicle, the air bag warning light erroneously illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags:frontal). The failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 125,000.

Air bags: passenger occupant classification system malfuctions anytime the passenger seat is occupied

I found vehicle recall via internet and consumer reports. I took my car to bmw of fairfax and explained that my bmw 330i 2006 had a defective front seat air bag sensor with dashboard warning light. After they examined the sensor they confirmed that i needed to replace the airbag sensor but that my vehicle was not affected by the recall. I was charged $150 dollars for the diagnosis and told that to repair the defect would cost $ 1200.

Had a warning light that there was a problem with the airbag system.i took it to momentum bmw in west houston and they replaced the front passenger airbag mat for a cost of $1,199.i researched the internet and discovered a nhtsa 13v564000 campaign.i called bmw customer service (800-525-7417) and gave them my vin #.they said due to problems that had occurred with passenger airbags on this model, the warranty had been extended to 10 years under this 13v564000 campaign which started in january 2014.momentum bmw said they fixed the problem in october 2009 and that the warranty had expired.i think the current problem doesn't relate to what momentum fixed in october 2009, or that the parts that were used were also faulty or defective.i would like bmw to pay for my cost to fix this problem.

Bmw sent a recall on 06 front airbag mat sensor and i contacted them and they stated that my vin was not part of their recal;. Despite the multiple complaints ive found online . They are declining any type of service and want me to pay for it fully.

Since 2014 i have had to replace 3 oem rims for cracking. This has caused me much inconvenience and time and money to replace not only the rims but at times the tire itself. Bmw's failure to disclose the fact that the bmw rtf alloy wheels prematurely crack is especially egregious in light of the safety hazard resulting from driving with a cracked wheel, due to the loss of tire pressure that typically ensues. Moreover, the possibility of a loss in tire pressure while driving the subject vehicles would be a material fact to a reasonable consumer. A case was awarded for the z car model in the us and another for my model using this similar argument about the rims in the u.k. But bmw refuses to entertain it the bmw alloy wheels are subject to cracking under normal driving conditions, creating a safety hazard and necessitating replacement or repair of the wheel and sometimes the tire, at substantial cost to the consumer.most recently, and most alarming, i received a "fault in passenger-restraint system affecting my airbag" when i started my car up two-weeks ago. I have done plenty of research and found that a bmw safety recall was made on the exact year and model (2006 bmw 330i), but my vin is not covered because it did not come with the specific sport seats, it was called under. I do not understand if so many individuals in bmw forums are having this same issue without having the "sport seats" but we share the same model, make and year as the one nhtsa originally got recalled recalled, why my vin is not covered. This is a huge liability on bmws end and no coincidence. Should i get in an accident with a passenger, the airbag will not deploy. Please help!!!http://www.nbcnews.com/id/26179745/

Passć©nger seat occupancy seat mat has failed and passenger air bag system does not work. Diagnosed recently- repair scheduled soon for cost of $1588.35 it looks like there may have been a recall in 2017 but i donā€™t have any record of being notified or having it fixed.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v071000 (air bags); however, the part for the repair was unavailable. The contact was informed by the dealer that the parts were on back order. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i sport. The contact stated that the front passenger seat mat sensor malfunctioned, causing the air bags and passenger seat belt to become inoperable. In addition, the air bag warning light was continuously illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the issue, who stated that there was not a recall for the vehicle and offered no assistance for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 94,212.

My vehicle has an airbag/seatbelt light eliminated on the dash.bmw has diagnosed it as a failed passenger seat mat sensor.2006 330i sports seats were recalled for this item in 2008.my vehicle which has sports seats was never called for the recall.the manufacturer has also extended warranty for 10 years on all 3 series models with out the sports seat option for this sensor, but for some reason they will not service my vehicle as warranty or recall work.i have talked to two separate dealerships and bmw directly.they said my only option would be to file a complaint and that the government would have to warrant a recall on this vehicle and combination of options.this does not make any sense!this is a safety concern, as of right now the vehicles airbag system on the passenger side will not function if in an accident.

Air bag and seat belt warning lights (red) came on indicating restraint systemn failure. Batter changed three months ago. Car taken in to shop and system "reset" thinking it was due to the battery being replaced. Both air bag and seat belt warning lights have come back on. My mechanic told me there had been a recall for this problem and suggested i contact dealer. Called bmw of monrovia, ca and was informed that my vehicle id number was not listed for the recall. Since there have been so many complaints listed, should bmw issue a recall before someone is killed and not after a death as usually happens?

I was driving my 2006 bmw 330i with my wife in front passenger seat and the passenger air bag is offlight came on. The car was on a straight road and the speed was at 45 mph. Called bmw but they told me my vehicle was not part of the recall. And was told to take my bmw to the dealership at my expense. Safety recalls should be the responsibility of the manufacturer. This worries me because my wife drives a 2006 bmw z4. I think this recall should be expanded to more vehicles. Please investigate.

This bmw had a recall, we bought this car from a dealer ship march 2016, seatbelt and air bag light just came on. Bmw should check this out at no cost and the recall should not be closed or there should be an exception when you buy a used bmw. It's a hazard if the air bag does not deploy or the seatbelt does not work

My bmw 2006 330i has a defect in the passenger air bag.whether someone is in the passenger seat or not, the passenger air bag light turns on indicating that the air bag is turned off.there was a recall on 2006 bmw 3 series (and other series) for this exact problem, but bmw states that my particular vehicle is not covered.it is the exact same problem that the recall was for, so i do not understand how it was not included in the recall of 2007/2008.

Front passenger safety sensor (oc3 seat mat) had premature failure while driving with passenger.failure results in dash warning lights illumination as well disablement of passenger air bag.air bag disablement could have resulted in fatality, system should force the air bag on if sensor fails.related recall is in affect for similar year models but bmwna believes this is an unrelated because the seat types are different (sport seat vs. Standard seat).bmw (along with sub component supplier) should fix this problem by extending compensation to all of those who had to voluntarily replace faulty sensors and recalling 2006 330i sport seat owners as well.safety systems should not fail within the first 40,000 miles of automobile's life.will provide failed hardware upon request to bmw or nhtsa.

My passenger side airbag light and seatbelt light stay on. I own a 2006 bmw 330i sport. I have found numerous notices that the front seat occupant protection mat fails for my make/model with the same symptoms that i am receiving. I have contacted bmw 3 times over the past year with each new addendum and they have told me each time my car doesn't apply. I shouldn't have to pay over $1000 for a recalled item and need this fixed in case any accident does occur needing this part to be effective.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v071000 (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was not experiencing a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

My passenger side air bag sensor mat has failed.this is the second time this has happened on this vehicle.other models of the 2006 bmw 3 series are included in a passenger air bag sensor recall.i feel my vehicle has been wrongly left out of the recall.

There is a problem regarding the airbag warning lamp and the mrs system. Nhtsa recall 10025849 covers vehicles produced from 8/31/05 to 4/26/06. My car was produced in 6/2006 (just two months later) and is having the same problem but is not covered by the recall.

Error message "fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. There was a recall on this for models up to 2005, and selectively for 2006, per bmw.

The airbag system light and seatbelt light illuminated unexpectedly after driving for a short distance.no modifications have ever been made to the vehicle, as i am the original owner.i received a recall notice from the factory regarding the "passenger seats air bag component failure" but no further claims of responsibility.i received an additional warranty for failure in the passenger seat air bag system, but none covering the entire safety system, which i believe to be the case for my vehicle. I project that i will be charged for a safety system failure that is not an any way, shape or form to be my responsibility. Please address this issue.

My passenger airbag sensor light went off, and after running $125.00 worth of diagnostics, bmw determined that my front passenger seat occupant detection mat, has failed and it would cost $987.00 to repair. After looking online i found that there was a recall on this part for 2006 3 series, however for some reason my vin number was not included in the recall. I have the exact same part number installed in my car as the recalled part number, however by some glitch, my car is not covered since it is vin specific, and not year/model specific. This is incredibly disheartening, and my passenger's safety are in jeopardy due to a vin# loophole. I looked online and there is a flood of people with the same issue on the same vehicle, not covered due to a crafty loophole.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were unknown.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Front passenger seat caught fire and burnt a hole from bottom up, took to the mechanic and he said it was from the airbag sensor that caught it fire, i was getting hair done at6 pm in evening, came out i hour later and smelt fire, looked and there was hole in seat, turned on airand rolled down windows, waived a magazine over it and made sure it was out.drove home about 10 minutes away and air bag light came on.tried to call bmw they were closed, went to my mechanic next morning he told me it was faulty to call bmw, i called bmw plaza and they told me tough they wouldnt do anything.i hated the hole so went to autozone to get something to repair it which made it look worse...been looking on line for seats very expensive.my boss told me as well that should be directed to attorney general which i messaged from missouri and us attorney general.this could of been worse, if i would of been longer arriving to my car it could of caught fire possibly or even worse my daughter could of been there and burnt.if this would of been winter with the heated seat on she could of been severely burnt, maybe dead.this should of never happened.

Has an airbag/seat belt light eliminated on the dash. Bmw has diagnosed it as a failed passenger seat sensor. 2006 330i sports seats were recalled for this item in 2008. Bmw recall id # 57362 - air bags: frontal recall date aug 05, 2008 recall date: aug 05, 2008 model affected: 2006 bmw 3-series summary: bmw is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series sport seat, my 2004-2006 5 series standard and sport seat, and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. Depending on the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit, small cracks have developed in the mat. If this occurs, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated. Consequences: in this situation the front passenger air bags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system would not be possible. Remedy: dealers will rework the front passenger seat sensor mat so that external force application to the seat does not cause a crack to the mat. The recall began on november 6, 2008. Bmw will also extend the warranty on these vehicles to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit. Owners may contact bmw at 1-800-525-7417. Potential units affected: 200000 notes: bmw of north america, llc. Updated 07/30/13*lj

Takata recall - i've called multiple times in the past year and stopped by the local dealership to get my name on the list about 2 months ago.i can not get an appointment to replace my air bag.

Passenger air bag warning will illuminate intermittently while driving, with or without the passenger seat being occupied. Both the seat belt and air bag warning indicator will illuminate. The air bag indicator will go away and may or may not illuminate again. When this started happening in october of 2012, the indicator would appear and go away and would not come back for maybe two or three month of driving. Now, approximate a year later the system will illuminate, when no one is occupying the passenger seat, or on start of the vehicle, or after the vehicle has been driven approximate a 1/4 mile. This appears to be a latent safety defect for the air bag safety system in this car.

This is in regards to nhtsa campaign number 08v-384. I called bmw about his recall and they stated my vehicle was not affected even though the problem i am having and multiple others are having is for the exact same issue, condition, and description as called out in campaign number 08v-384. I did more research and found that bmw may not have the affected vehicles loaded correctly in their system. For example they tell you that the sport seat is not covered (which i have), but if you read the letters from bmw to nhtsa, many sport seats are covered. I suspect the database bmw is using to tell if a car is covered or not may not be accurate compared to the vehicle categories listed in the nhtsa filings.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v071000 (air bags). The dealer did not give a specific date for when the parts would become available. The manufacturer could not provide a date for when the recall parts would be available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Passenger seat occupancy recognition sensor is faulty (error code 93c3), preventing the passenger side airbag from deploying in the event of a crash.bmw has refused to repair this item at their expense despite the fact thatthe same(or similar) part has been recalled for other 2006 3 series vehicles.

I had a full sized adult passenger in the front seat. While driving the airbag light went off as well as the " passenger airbag off" light and seat belt light. The passenger was heavy enough for airbag deployment. After the passenger got out of the vehicle the light stayed on for about 15 minutes before turning off randomly. Before this incident the light would come on briefly by itself with no one in the seat but this is the first time it really acted up. I checked the vin to see if it had any recalls and it showed 0. I checked online for recalls in general and did see one for this issue same model and year but standard seats now i have the upgraded seats but the issue is still the same. This recall should be for all seat types if the issue is present! i can't believe this isn't a more concerning matter, these our suppose to be life safety devices! i don't feel safe!

Srs airbag system i'm my bmw failed to work and had numerous repairs made. Airbags still disabled, bmw won't fix the issue.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed and the technician informed that the air bag warning sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the ten year warranty was expired and that the vin was not included in the nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags). Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that the recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 16v071000 (air bags) was received in june of 2017. Bmw of westhouston (20822 chaney freeway, chaney, tx 77449) stated that parts were not available. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Airbag light has came on and off and now stays on due to a crack in the map on the passenger seat. My vin does not fit the recall on the exact thing for other vehicles.

Passenger side airbags are deactivated. I am receiving through the idrive computer the following message "system restraint malfunction", also the passenger air bag light is always onthe instruments cluster. I found out that there are several complaints, and an existing recall about this same issue but i was told at my bmw dealer that my vin number was not included. I am having the same exact issue that others have complained about and it is a serious safety issue that bmw should address accordingly. Once again, even though my vehicle make, model and year follow the criteria of the existing recall, my vin number was not included.

My car began displaying a "passenger restraint failure" identical to therecall in 2008 (bmw id#57362nhtsa id# 08v384000). I have the exact model and trim (2006 330i with sport package) as the recall, but upon contacting bmw of north america, they stated my vehicle's vin 'does not qualify' for the recall. I find this ridiculous, as it is a known defect (thus the recall) for the model and trim (sport seats) that are in my car. This is a clear safety defect but bmw refuses to repair it. Instead, i am facing an $800 repair which is unconscionable. I should not have to pay to repair a known safety defect with the car!bmw recall id # 57362 - air bags:frontal recall date aug 05, 2008 recall date: aug 05, 2008 model affected: 2006 bmw 3-series summary: bmw is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series sport seat, my 2004-2006 5 series standard and sport seat, and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. The airbag log is constantly on even if no passenger is sitting in the seat. This appears to be a defect in the sensor. However bmw lists other models but not the 330i with this vin number. This is a serious safety issue. This needs to be recalled for all bmws. With so many complaints on the internet bmw needs to fix this problem.

The nhtsa has issued multiple recalls for the airbag sensor mat problem in bmw cars however my car continues to be excluded from the recall population despite meeting the descriptions included in the nhtsa recall notices.

I have a 2006 bmw 330i. My airbag light is on due to a crack in the mat in the passenger seat. I took it to the dealer to be diagnosed.it will cost me over $1000.00 to have it repaired!my vin is not included in the recall even though it has the same problems as the recall! this means my airbag won't deploy if an accident were to happen! i have four teenagers and two of them drive this vehicle! i think my children's safety is of the utmost importance! teen drivers are at a higher risk of accidents. All of the 2006 330i need to be included in the recall! i found many other complaints about the same problems!

Passenger seat airbag sensor toggles between active and inactive regardless of weight, or presence of an individual on the seat...with a passenger on it, it will also toggle between active/inactive regardless of the weight of the person (even an adult passenger will disable passenger airbag).. Seems to be historical evidence of this failure and yet recall is not active.there is no certainty at this moment if airbag will be operational in a crash.

Air bag warning and seat belt warning lights come on and stay on. Lights have come on and stayed on each occurrence. Have taken vechicle to dealer and shop to have light reset at least 6 times, only to have both warning lights come on again.

Air bag control modulator diagnosed as defective by dealer caused air bag warning lamp and passenger air bag lamp to illuminate. Dealer informed that the modulator controls deployment of airbags and the defective modulator could cause airbags to not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing risk of personal injury. The airbag warning light illuminates 30 seconds after ignition indicating a defect in the air bags deployment system.

I got home from an outting with friends and "passenger restraint systems malfunction" appeared on my screen. Did alittle research, my passenger seat airbag will either deploy metal shards or not deploy at all incase of an accident. Or the seatbelt will not properly engage. The dealership says they are "vin specific" and can only do my driver side. But everybody seems to only have the passenger side problem. They have the sensor in stock that can save a life, but they don't want to do the job just because my "vin" does not match for the recall in their computers!

Recall campaign no. 13v-564.i have one of the affected cars on this recall notice. About june 1, 2011, my 2006 bmw 330i (sport seats) had a red airbag light illuminate.i took the car to the local bmw dealership and was told it would cost me a couple hundred dollars to diagnose the problem.the service manager asked if i recently changed batteries and i said that i did.he said sometimes the airbag light comes on if the battery wasn't installed properly.in 2014, i did some research and found that bmw knew of a problem with airbags in their 2006 330i vehicles- especially those with sport seats. The report i read stated that there would be a voluntary recall by the end of 2014. I contacted bmw and they confirmed, by email, there would be a recall for specific 2006 330i vehicles with sport seats.upon checking a recall website, my vehicle was not included in the recall despite the fact that my vehicle suffers from the problem that initiated the recall.bmw knows they have a problem with airbags in certain vehicles, they should be required to recall all of them.

Few miles after starting to drive error icon was shown on the display showing airbag icon and seatbelt icon. Was able to display the error code: cc-id 97. The front passenger seat was occupied. The car was in motion when the error was triggered, at about 25 mph on city streets.

2006 bmw 330i with sport package; with passenger in front seat the air bag turns off and message is sent saying passenger restraint system malfunction. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 92,000.

The passenger seat occupancy detector has been causing the airbag light to stay on.there are other vehicles - same model and same year that had this same part recalled (oc3 continental seat occupancy detector).i think that this part should be recalled across the board instead of claiming that it only affects a very specific number of cars.

My 2006 3301 w/sport seats is not covered in the bmw recall for the malfuctioning passenger airbag system.after doing much research online there seems to be a numerous amount of bmw owners that are having the same issue.

Passenger door locks will not respond to fob or central lock/unlock controller. The door will unlock and open from the inside, but will not open with key, fob, or central locking console button. This happened when i first purchased the vehicle in 2010, and again at the end of 2011. This is and continues to be a safety hazard. If the door(s) lock and are unable to be unlocked, it would cause loss of life.

I have an amber colored steering wheel lock icon on the dashboard.i took it to the dealer and they said it is not safe to drive it because this will lock up the steering wheel.i told them if that's the case then there should be a recall and unfortunately there hasn't been one.hopefully everyone who has had this issue files a complaint with the nhtsa as this is a very serious problem and one that needs to be addressed by bmw na.

Ibs sensor with negative battery cable failed and car would not start. The ibs sensor needed to be replaced on the car.

I have a 2006 bmw 330i e90, the vin# is [xxx]. My pcv valve has failed and absolutely melted through. The plastic housing is entirely melted, and the electrical connector and wires are melted through. Luckily i live in colorado and it is very cold here in february and the car did not catch on fire. I started doing research on the internet on the part and found bmw recall 17v-683. I found the attached recall document and highlighted the relevant section in green, where on page 11 ( or page 1 of the faq section) it says the recall is for e90 models produced starting in july 2006; my car was produced june 13, 2006. I called bmw customer service center and was told that my car was not in the recall and it was a coincidence that the exact same part melted, as what was being recalled for cars built only two weeks later. I don't think so. How can bmw say that because my car was built two weeks prior that they know for a fact, that a good pcv valve was installed in my car? what we do know is that the bad pcv valves are melting. And i can certainly prove that mine has melted. So, a responsible company would see this as a safety concern and not a coincidence. I guess we will see how bmw handles but since they now have documented proof that this issue affected a vehicle built prior to july, i urge them to change the recall date from july 2006 to june 2006. Beside me wanting my car repairs covered, there could be other 2006 vehicles built mid-june that will have this issue and seeing the amount of melting this did to my car, it could cause a fire in the vehicle and cause harm to innocent people. I am more than happy to take the car to a bmw dealership for them to confirm the failed/melted pcv valve. I just want my car fixed and the recall date change to june 2006 from july 2006, so that others are made aware of the danger. The car fails to unlock when using the central button in the car or the hand held device. Only the driver door can be opened mechanically and the locks are not accessible to pull up on the other 3 doors. My children had to climb out the drivers door or windows. Research on the web is indicating a bad fuse can cause this or actuators in the doors. Seems like a major safety hazard if everyone can't exit the car in an emergency because of a blown fuse?

When my car reached ~75,000 miles, the passenger restraint system malfunction notification started to appear on the center console. The message seems to convey that the airbags will not deploy in an accident. After speaking with bmw and finding out that my car falls under the recall for this exact situation. Bmw refused to fix it and states that my vin is not listed under the recall, even though the recall states that it affects 2006 3-series with sport seats (which is exactly what i have).

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. When the engine was started and the defroster was activated, a popping noise was heard under the hood and an unusual odor emitted from the vents. The contact immediately turned the engine off and exited the vehicle. Within seconds, flames appeared under the hood. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. A fire report and a police report were filed. The contact stated that the fire spread and damaged the plastic tail light cover and paint of another vehicle parked in the driveway. The fire department determined that there was an electrical failure near the motor. The vehicle was driven from the scene. There were no injuries. An unknown dealer stated that parts were unavailable to repair the vehicle per nhtsa campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system:wiring). The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Requesting research for recall into known issue with bmw service bulletin on door lock actuators:i was parked, and used my key remote to open the doors as i always do, but the doors would not unlock. The only one that stays unlocked (the lock does not go down when i click the alarm) is the right rear door lock. I, therefore, have to use the hard plastic emergency key (from the glove compartment) to manually unlock my driver door each time. I find this a safety issue as i sometimes work until late at night and have to fumble to get the key to unlock the front driver side. I checked to see if there was a recall on this, and there was not, but what i did find, were quite a large number of complaints about this issue on a variety of bmw models, older and newer. Some bmw owners reported that they were stuck in their cars, because the doors would not unlock from the inside, so passengers (such as my mother had to do several times) have to climb around in the car to climb out of the only door that opens. I also discovered there was a service bulletin notice on this issue. The owners whose factory warranty has run out are still having to pay out of pocket to have this issue repaired. Many are attempting to learn from do-it-yourself websites to avoid the cost of repairing this issue.please can you research and make this a recall, it is highly uncomfortable to have passengers climbing in by adjusting seats and climbing out because of this door lock actuator known issue, that has been occurring for years in bmw cars.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have a 2006 bmw 330i which had a steering column malfunction and failure. It is safety problem and should be covered by a bmw customer satisfaction campaign.on january 7, 2014 the temp. Was minus 15 degrees f and the warning indicator in the instrument panel showed an icon of a steering wheel and a lock and the vehicle failed to start. The owners manual says "lights up in yellow: electric steering wheel is jammed. Move the steering wheel before starting the engine."i moved the steering, but the vehicle would not start. If this had happened while i was away from home in these minus 15 degrees f cold temp. I could have frozen before i could have received assistance.the service manager at anderson bmw in illinois told me that the 2006 bmw 330i has had problems with the steering column malfunctioning. I had to have the car towed to the dealership which took almost 2 full days due to the cold weather in chicago and all the cars that wouldn't start from the cold.i contacted bmw customer service, explained my problem and was told they couldn't do anything to cover this unusual quality problem under warranty. I understand it is out of warranty, but i wouldn't expect a major steering, start and interlock system failure when it is only 10,600 miles over the warranty period.as an automotive engineer responsible for quality i deal with warranty issues quite often as well as recalls with nhtsa. While many times a quality issue with a product is safety related it does not require a nhtsa recall. However, it can be covered under a manufacturers customer satisfaction campaign. From the nhtsa website, there are many cases reported that there is a problem with the 2006 bmw 330i model. I am reporting this incident to nhtsa in hopes that bmw will do something for other owners as the repair bill was $938.00 and should have been covered by bmw, warranty or not.

Complete loss of power, shut car off for a few minutes, when tryi g to restart vehiclenoticed zero power to any components

I just had my 2006 bmw 330i repaired due to a steering wheel lock warning light which appeared on the odometer causing my car not to start.this occurred when i was ready to leave the parking lot at my job. The car would not start and the red steering wheel lock warning light was on the odometer. The shop replaced the battery and ibs sensor cable. I drove the car for one day without any warning signal and when i adjusted the steering column by releasing the lever, the yellow steering wheel lock warning light lit up on the odometer.the repairs cost me $1,391.82. This car also was in the shop due to a recall on the airbag on the steering column. A local bmw dealership replaced this part two months before this problem with the steering wheel lock occurred. What other problems will i have with this bmw series? i believe bmw should refund my money for these repairs.

A bolt broke on the valve cover. It's not from cold weather or lack of maintenance, it's clearly a manufacturer default. When advised by valley bmw in modesto i learned this happens in most of these models that year. It's from over torquing the bolt or a faulty bolt or something else but it's clearly not the fault of the consumer.mine broke on the passenger side and it causes the oil to leak on theexhaust. This is a safety issue and must be addressed immediately. This also happens on the oil pan! http://msauceda1.blogspot.com/2013/07/bmw-330i-2006-broken-bolts-valve-cover.htmlit costs over $1000 to fix and after researching further, i found this is happening a lot and many consumers as well as repair services are frustrated and understandably angry. Please address this and make bmw recall these vehicles for repair before someone gets killed! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5co92u-wa94.

Very loud noise (fan noise) coming from the engine compartment when the car was started from a cold start. Car is drive-able but seemed to lose some power. The noise may or may not come back during the next start. A few simple searches on google and from various bmw forums indicated that it's a very common problem for the 2006 bmw 330i e90 sedans and problem seem to be the faulty water pump and faulty thermostat. As there are no warning light nor any tell signs, the car could go from full performance on the freeway to limp mode (forceful slow-down mode) in the matter of a few seconds due to overheating of the water pump, and it could be very dangerous. The hidden error codes may be discovered with a vehicle specific scanning tool but there is no warning light or error light whatsoever to warn the owner unless the car is brought in to the shop and being scanned with the proper scanning tool. But if there is no warning/error light, no one would have thought to bring the car in for scanning.

Broken cylinder head bolt near oil filter hosing found this to be a very very common problem with (n52) engines.

While doing a valve cover replacement for broken aluminium bolts, which caused a leak, discovered that the three aluminium head bolts are also broken. The fourth of these was found to be broken and replaced. This known problem on this motor, the n52 six cylinder 3.0 liter motor, caused by inadequate bolts installed at the factory. Bmw updated the bolts and torque specs for the motor, but has never formally (at least publicly) recognized the issue. Looking on message boards this is a common problem occurring with these cars that is caused by a manufacturing defect rather than simply time and age. There are many reports of these bolts being found broken at 35 - 50k miles.

Bmw na has issued a recall to address broken head bolts in a number of 2010 models, which can result in engine failure. I have spoken with several bmw owners and found that this issue extends beyond their initial recall into earlier models, but bmw na is ignoring the issue outright in the hopes that it will disappear.i have spoken with bmw na several times and they have given me the runaround for several months and put major smokescreens up in my attempt further the conversation/investigation of the issue.i'm reaching out to nhtsa because i have no other recourse and i know this issue is not a localized issue with one year model, but symptomatic of several years and models.please help the driving public by assisting me in addressing this issue with bmw.

Bmw 3 series models 330i and 325i year 2006/2007 have a problem with valve cover and head bolts breaking off(bolts are made of aluminum), in my personal case, i was inspect my car when i was parked and i found a head bolt close to the oil filter housing broke off and also found the head of the bolt on the engine bay, close to the hole where the oil is being leaking. The leak is bad and i have to fill it up every week.some other people have had valve cover bolts broken offand oil leaking on the exhaust wich could cause fire and accidents.seems like this was a factory defect over torquing the bolts or low quality aluminum bolts. Bmw should fix this problem with all this models and years. I have read online of several people dealing with this problem an even paying bmw dealers lots of money when the problem begun at the manufacturing plant.seriousengine damaged can occur too if other bolts inside the valve cover break and mess others components up inside the engine.other newer models don't have this problem after the bolts being upgrade to a better quality aluminum or change the torque value on them.thanks so much for researching and your time.

We requested that bmw pay for the cost of this repair, because we know they are aware of it being an issue and they refused to do so. The cylinder bolt broke and bmw is refusing to repair the broken bolt under an active warranty. Bmw is aware that the cylinder bold on these models has been known to fail and is now being made out of a different material in newer models. I requested that bmw pay for the cost of this repair because we are aware of it being and issue and they refused to do so under an active extended coverage warranty. I am filing this safety vehicle complaint on my 2006 bmw 330i. What first began as a smell of fuel inside the car escalated to a strong smell of gas, after looking at the undercarriage of the vehicle i discovered fuel leaking down the driver's side gas tank inches away from the hot exhaust. Tracking where the leak was coming from, i removed the passenger rear seat and discovered that the fuel pump plastic housing developed cracks all around causing the fuel to escape below the passenger seat down the gas tank. The vehicle operates fine and there are no dash lights indicating that there are any failures of fuel, however, it seems the fuel has broken down the plastic housing of the fuel pump over time, resulting in an enormous loss of fuel when the vehicle is running. I am very glad i discovered this issue, which i believe is an enormous safety issue and consider myself lucky that i didn't catch on fire on my last drive. I will follow-up with bmw's hotline because i am certain there are other drivers that own the i90 series that may be having the same issue and hope nhtsa can put this on their bulletin and open an investigation on the serious issue.

Driver side door lock will not unlock with center console door lock, nor the key fob.can only be unlocked via manual key.

2006 bmw 330i started intermittently have door lock issues. One door would not unlock but others would. Today (05/31/11) i was at lunch with my kids and we went to get in the car and none of the doors would unlock with the remote except the right rear. I leaned in and tried to unlock the others with the handle but they would not. I climbed through to the drivers seat and drove home. I got to my house and was locked in the car. The door would not unlock with the button on the dash, the key, or by pulling on the handle. I had to climb out the window and i had to pull my kids out of their windows to get them out. Now the car is awaiting a service appointment but the car is too unsafe to drive in the meantime. I am scared something will happen and we will get trapped in the car.

2006 bmw 330i - complete failure of all door locking mechanisms resulting in the inability to both rear doors and passenger front door, from the inside or outside. This occurred from an electrical short in the door lock actuator, causing numerous fuses to blow. This happened from normal use of the remote key less entry system. There were no accidents involved.

The contact exited the vehicle and locked the doors using the automatic key fob however, the passenger was then unable to unlock and exit the vehicle using the manual door lock. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 91,000.updated 04/03/13*ljthe consumer no longer owns this vehicle. The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that while parked he attempted to unlock the front drivers side door but the door failed to unlock. The contact was able to open the window and unlock the door from the outside using her key. The contact stated she was unable to unlock the door from outside or inside. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnose that the lock actuator needed to be replaced. After the repair the rear passenger side door would not unlock. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

All doors can not lock or unlock, except the driver door can unlock manually only.

Air bag. Warning sensor, adaptive headlights warning, power steering leaking, brakes clumping, blower heater motor and module had to replace.

Drivers side seat belt buckle/tensioner failed and would not hold onto seatbelt. This caused the seatbelt alarm to sound as well as deactivate the drivers side airbag

Air bag warning and seat belt warning lights come on and stay on. Lights have come on and stayed on each occurrence. Have taken vechicle to dealer and shop to have light reset at least 6 times, only to have both warning lights come on again.

Passenger restraint malfunction warning and passenger air bag turned off

After a recall on my (sport) seats was performed by the dealer, the seatbelt warning chime sounds when there is no one or nothing in the seat.it never did this before the recall was performed.the only way to get the chime to stop is to buckle the passenger belt.

The sensor in the passenger seat is malfunctioning causing the computer to disable the passenger airbag. This was a recall on other vehicles of the same model and year, but bmw north america is stating that my vin is not part of the recall. This is a major safety issue that can cause serious injury or death!

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that the seat belt warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure was 112,000.

After ~50,00 miles the passenger restraint system malfunction notification started to appear on the center console.the message continued to appear randomly, and now at ~70,000 miles, the message is permanently on.the message seems to convey that the airbags will not deploy in an accident.bmw has refused to fix the issue.

For the listed 2006 bmw e90 330i, the following error message was displayed in the idrive interface."pass. Restraint system: fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter.restraint system malfunction!"the failure occurred with nothing occupying the passenger seat while travelling approximately 35 mph.the seatbelt, airbag, and passenger airbag warning lights remain illuminated with and without a person occupying the passenger seat and cannot be cleared.bmw was contacted and stated the vin did not qualify for a recall of nhtsa campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags: frontal).the vehicle has not been repaired.this defect causes a severe safety risk due to possible seatbelt and airbag system failures resulting in potential fatality.since the make, model, year, and equipment match the recall specifications; this vehicle should be included in the recall and repaired at no cost to the owner.the mileage at which the failure occurred and current mileage are approximately 86,000.

Few miles after starting to drive error icon was shown on the display showing airbag icon and seatbelt icon. Was able to display the error code: cc-id 97. The front passenger seat was occupied. The car was in motion when the error was triggered, at about 25 mph on city streets.

There is a problem regarding the airbag warning lamp and the mrs system. Nhtsa recall 10025849 covers vehicles produced from 8/31/05 to 4/26/06. My car was produced in 6/2006 (just two months later) and is having the same problem but is not covered by the recall.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that the driver's side seat belt sensor was illuminated indicating a defect with the seat belt. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the seat belt sensor had malfunctioned.the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v384000(air bags). The failure mileage was 74,000.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning light and the seat belt warning light illuminated. The contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 14v428000 (air bags); however, the vin was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

The following message (fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt force limiter) appeared on the display immediately after starting the car. Every time the car is started the warning appears. The warning remains as long as the car is running. This car has sport seats. Dealer service department claims this is not covered by the previous recall.

I find this ridiculous, as it is a known defect (thus the recall) for the model and trim (sport seats) that are in my car. This is a clear safety defect but bmw refuses to repair it. If this occurs, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated.my point is what is different my car series and above 3 series why my car is not belong to under warranty. It is exactly the same issue. I do not understand why my car can't fix at dealership under warranty. If there isexception cars, i think it should clearly statement that is why or exception reason even same model. It is so inconvenience. This information is so confusing for vehicle owner. I really want to listen why my car is not on the campaign and i want to figure it out.

Error message "fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. There was a recall on this for models up to 2005, and selectively for 2006, per bmw.

I have a defective passenger seat occupancy mat.bmw has a recall limited to 200,000 vehicles but it obviously affects more than that.they need to extend the recall to other affected vehicles.same symptoms same defective part but not covered in the recall.

Passenger restraint malfunction warning and passenger air bag turned off

My passenger side airbag light and seatbelt light stay on. I own a 2006 bmw 330i sport. I have found numerous notices that the front seat occupant protection mat fails for my make/model with the same symptoms that i am receiving. I have contacted bmw 3 times over the past year with each new addendum and they have told me each time my car doesn't apply. I shouldn't have to pay over $1000 for a recalled item and need this fixed in case any accident does occur needing this part to be effective.

When the passenger seat was occupied, the air bag passenger restraint, seat belt, and air bag malfunction warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (pacific bmw located at 800 s brand blvd, glendale, ca 91204) where it was diagnosed that the occupant seat sensor malfunction needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 154,235.

On 7/12/14 the airbag came on for the front passenger seat and turn off the airbag safety for this seat and really believed it's a problem withe mat airbag sensor in that seat but i didn't receive any recall letters from you my car still with this problem that put my family on risk if i have an accident.

The nhtsa has issued multiple recalls for the airbag sensor mat problem in bmw cars however my car continues to be excluded from the recall population despite meeting the descriptions included in the nhtsa recall notices.

I have experienced a front passenger air bag warning light on my 2006 e90 330i bmw with sports seats.the warning comes on and goes off, as it pleases.i have contacted the local dealer and was referred to bmw of north america for further instructions.i contacted bmw or north america, presented my vin number and have told them of the problem i have experienced.i was advised that my vin number was not included in any recalls and i should also check www.nhtsa.dot.gov.i have searched for this warning information and have come across this recall with nhtsa campaign id number: 08v384000 (air bags:frontal ).my vehicle, model, year, and equipment appears to be in the recall and experiences the exact symptoms as indicated in the summary.i have also come across numerous complaints filed from other vehicle owners, with the same model and year, and i am concerned about the fact which vehicles were recalled and repaired.i am asking for nhtsa assistance and direction in resolving this manufacturers safety issue.

However, bmw does not recognize my vin as being a part of this recall.

Steering locks up.

Steering wheel lock

2006 bmw 330i was fitted with a steering column equipped with a steering lock sensor that is prone to failure and may render the car safe and/or inoperable. I have this issue currently that will require over $1,000 in repairs. In addition, the steering wheel may lock up during vehicle use compromising the safety of myself and/or family. This is a chronic and recurring issue that bmw is aware of and they have taken steps to re-design the columns in 2007+ vehicles. Unfortunately, they will not recall the 2006 vehicles equipped with the columns that have this design flaw and propensity for failure. I have called bmw na multiple times to discuss but they are not willing to admit any culpability of address my concerns in a productive manner. Iin speaking with my bmw parts advisor and mechanic who runs a large scale service garage, he sees many vehicles come in for this specific problem and advised that it is "only a matter of time" before a class action suit is taken against them.it is frustrating that my family is at risk because bmw will not take an ethical stance on this issue and address the shortcomings in the design of the re-designed 3-series vehicle that i have purchased. 2006 was the first year of the re-design of the 3-series and that is perhaps a contributing factor to the problem (since this is the first year that this design was employed in a vehicle).please take this complaint seriously and check the facts by googling "e90 steering column problems" to find a wealth of information on the topic including many other people that have experienced this exact same issue and have had their safety and finances compromised.if the government doesn't keep these large auto manufacturers honest in addressing these design flaws, consumers will be subject to perpetual financial and possible physical harm. Someone shouldn't have to be injured or worse before action is taken to address the safety threat..most columns operate properly for the life of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that the electrical steering wheel lock warning lamp illuminated, preventing the vehicle from being started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the steering wheel lock system needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 138,320.

Electric steering lock mechanism failure prevents starting the car.

Malfunction of integral lock sensor in steering column necessitates replacement of entire steering column at cost of $1300. This is the second replacement in this vehicle, the first failed at 80,000 miles. Same issue with 2006 325i model at 90,000 miles. Understand that electronic sensors will always wear out and fail but this is defective engineering. The sensor should be a separate part anticipating the need to replace it from time to time. Would expect more attention to detail and more consideration for the paying customer from german engineering.

I went to start my bmw 330i and a warning indicator came up and said there was a steering lock malfunction. It said to move the steering wheel and start the car. I tried and tried to start the car but it just kept saying the same thing. The temperature outside was below freezing. I waited a while and tried again and it started. There are several complaints about this issue and it needs to be a recall.

Steering wheel had random electronic lock failure.

Steering wheel lock engine is lock car can not start wow..

Parked at airport 6am feb 8 2012, left for overnight trip. Got back next morning feb 9th 2012 at 10:30am. Put key in car pressed brake to start and would not start. Got 'electric steering wheel lock' error on i drive system and an yellow/amber error symbol with a steering wheel and a lock. Numerous and numerous reports about this happening on bmw e90's worldwide.

Steering wheel lock is on which prevents the car from starting even after moving the steering wheel and inserting/removing the key fob in the key slot. This is a known issue and as well as a safety issue. Numerous people from bmw forums have reported the same problem and bmw won't do anything about it.

I had been using the car regularly driving to and from work. Randomly the yellow light pops up of the steering lock sign then a couple days later the car shuts down and the light turns red. The car then would not start.there was nothing i could do the car was parked at my work and was forced to get it towed to bmw.

The contact owns a 2006 bmw 330i. The contact stated that a loud noise emitted from the steering wheel and the wheel seized. As a result, the contact was unable to turn the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the elv steering lock was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 97,000 and the current mileage was 99,334.

Vehicle has been failing to start and displaying a elv steering column lock.problem would intermittently come and go.it has now resulted in a total failure and vehicle will not start or respond.problem is either with bmw software or steering column malfunction which has not been officially acknowledged by bmw so they won't warranty problem.

I own a 2006 bmw 330i. I'm having problems with the steering column lock which prevents the car from starting. The problem starts with a yellow warning light that indicates the steering column is locked. Then, when the indicator light turns red, the car does not start. I first experienced the problem in 2007 and the steering column was replaced under warranty. In 2010, the yellow light started coming on again intermittently and it is now on every time i enter the car. I took the car to the local bmw dealership to be diagnosed. They tell me i need a new steering column yet again.i am out of warranty and the bmw regional is refusing to cover the steering column because a safety recall has not been issued. It costs $1428 to replace the part. Upon researching this issue online, i have discovered that bmw changed their steering columns after 2006 because of this defect with the locking mechanism.

When there is a power failure in the 2006 bmw 330i, in this case caused by a blown fuse, the doors will not open either by attempting to electronically unlock them or by using the door handles.the only way i was able to exit the car was to roll down the driver's side window and use a manual key on the outside of the car to unlock the door.in the event of a total power failure and the power windows failed as well, it would be impossible to exit the vehicle other than by breaking the windows.this is a very dangerous design flaw.there should always be a way to exit the vehicle without having to rely on the vehicle's electrical system.

I tried to get out of my car but the drivers door would not unlock. Tried using the key, but it still won't unlock. I had to climb out the passenger door! door will not open at all!

Remote door lock nor unlock button inside vehicle would unlock passenger doors.passenger doors would not open from inside pulling/using the door handle.

Ok so ig was 1:30am and i was driving on the freeway then i start feeling the steering wheel kind of wear so i was gonna pull over on the next exit but j couldn't, cause i lost control of my car and i crash behind an 18 wheel truck so i didn't know there was a recall on the suspension:front:control:arm

After ~30 min driving on the capital beltway around washington dc, i existed at exit 4 on i270 north). The engine suddenly evolved very fast when i was braking before a traffic light between i270 ramp and falls road. I felt like the car just wanted to keep moving. I ended up hitting a vehicle in the front though the damages on both were very minor. I immediately turned off the engine and place it in park. After a few minutes (the other driver and i exchanged contact info), i restarted the engine and the car seemed to work ok.

Door lock failure. This is very common with this model and it can be one of two things; a fuse or the door actuators. I got it back to fix engine issues and the doors would not unlock, except the drivers side, which i can do with the key lock. Other than that there is no way to get in the car that doesn't involve going in duke style through the window or through the sunroof or something.
