I am receiving a 'passenger restraint malfunction' message on my dash and the seatbelt and airbag light are stuck on.online bmw states "the oc3 mat needs to be replaced. Check with your dealer, we extended the warranty on some models."i checked with my dealer and this does not qualify. They will not cover this safety repair.i cannot safely have anyone ride in the passenger seat, and the seat ceases to move as well.my dealer states it costs $1350 to fix and they would need to order in the part and have my vehicle for 2 days.this is a safety issue.safety issues should not have an 'expiration date' as to when the dealer will or will not cover it.the care is 7 years old and has 63,000 miles. This defect was covered for the 2006 and 2007 models and became a recall.i see online in forums others are experiencing this in the 2011 model. I am forced to pay a mechanic to fix this now.
While looking up the recall for the takata recall, i noticed there was an open recall on my car for the vanos housing bolts, i had not received a notice in the mail even though i had updated my account with bmw at first notice of the tanaka recall. I had my car serviced for the vano housing repair which they removed the valve cover to inspect the bolts and found a broken bolt on the vanos housing and replaced the exhaust, removed and inspected the oil pan to remove the fragments. I paid for an oil change that day. Less than 7300 miles and 2 quarts of oil later i was experiencing an oil leak that was caused by an improperly seated valve cover not seating to the cylinder head. They offered to repair a broken cylinder head bolt for $500 i declined as my mechanic said it didn't make sense and they should repair a bolt if they are already in there. I'd also like to note that the recall listed the repair was to take 4 hours but they had my car 3 days. No loaner was given until the end of the 2nd day. They are now refusing to reimburse me for the valve cover $1000 repair. I noticed online that several dealers replaced the valve cover as a part of this service to avoid this problem, though bert smith bmw st. Petersburg, fl did not. I also have 2 other open recalls on my car that have been listed as a remedy not available since december 2017.
Takata recall....have not provided any closure date for replacement
There are multiple recalls on my car with the airbag the most prominent, but there is a month wait to get this fixed. I would like to get this fixed asap as it feels like im driving a ticking timebomb.
When will the wiring recall for my car be completed?i need some sort of updated information,as my car is sitting due to signing a form stating i will not drive until the repairs are done.this is causing other issues such as dead battery, possible tire dry rot etc.... Due to sitting for so long i'm the weather without moving.will any other damages or faults be covered due to this?

Nhtsa recall number 17v683 positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater : this recall involves an engine component known as the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater. The pcv valve heater may not have been produced to specifications. Over time, it could deteriorate and, in rare cases, could lead to overheating.
My car only has 62,900 miles and about two weeks ago the air bag alarm came on without any situation or accident occured.

My driver and passenger airbags deployed because my car all of the sudden lurched forward on it's own andi bumped the car in front of me and when it happened my car started accelerating and revving all on it's own into the car ahead and i was trying to make it stop by pushing the brakes but the brake pedal wouldnt move it was hard and wouldnt move so my car kept accelerating bumping the car in front of me over and over and i was stomping down on the brake pedal to make it stop but it wouldnt. After about 30 seconds of this it just stopped. The airbags were blowing out very hot air that burned and bruised my left arm very badley and myself and my minor passenger were choking from it. My driver side window and windshield were both broken from the explosion of the airbags but the body of my car wasn't damaged. I had noticed that sometimes the display in my car wouldnt show all the car controls but never imagined the car would malfunction like this. Now the repair shop wants the same amount of money that i initially paid for the car to repair it and my insurance is not covering it. Please help because this was not my fault the car malfunctioned.
My daughter was traveling on i-95 south in st augustine fl , when several cars came to a sudden stop. My daughter was unable to stop and hit a suv, she was applying her brakes . The air bag did not deploy. My daughter was injured in the accident, i think something is wrong because the air bag did not deploy and felt the need to report it.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

When i bought this car from the third party dealership, it had airbag problem, when i told the guy about the problem. He said he will lower the price and give me the car. The airbag for the car is too expensive so he doesn't want to mess around with it.
The airbag sensor is broken on passenger side if not fixed it's is definitely a safety concern. Purchased used on 7/1/19 from a dealships and they do not want to incure the cost to fix it. If the passenger seatbelt is not buckled whether there's a passenger in the seat or not it will keep beeping until you put the seatbelt in the buckle.
2011 bmw 328i.consumer writes in regards to air bag malfunction.the consumer stated after the vehicle was purchased, she noticed when driving at a speed of 10 mph or lower, applying the brake, or pulling into a parking space, the vehicle would surge forward unexpectedly.the consumer experienced the same surging for a second time, as she pulled into a parking space. The vehicle went over a curb and into some bushes. As a result, she received whip-lash to her neck and slightly bruised her elbows, knees and hurt her chest on the steering wheel. Bmw sent an engineer to inspect the vehicle and concluded nothing was wrong with the vehicle. After picking up the vehicle a week later, the consumer and her husband continued to experience the same issue. A month later, the consumers husband pulled into a parking space when the vehicle unexpectedly surged forward and hit a parked suv in front of him, which caused damage to the front bumper. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, where they kept it for two weeks. The dealer stated the vehicle was fine and it was ready for pick-up. However, two days later, the vehicle surged again, as the consumer was approaching a stop light. The consumer stated the vehicle has been inspected three times, without any success of finding the problem. The mechanism/gear would shift when driving at a low speed or riding the brake at a low speed when coming to a stop. Also, the vehicle sagged on the right side, which has been acknowledged by the mechanics, but it cannot be fixed. Updated 05/13/14. Updated 06/10/14
I was following my husband home from working around 5pm on july 28th and as he preceded to turn left, i observed traffic and saw it was safe to follow through as well. As i was turning another gentleman came through the light going approximately 45-50mph and we had a collision.my damage to my vehicle was in the front and the car was therefore totaled. At the time of the accident my airbags did not deploy and i proceeded to hit my forehead on the steering wheel. His airbags did deploy and he was in a 2013 328i and i was in a 2011 328i.i would like to see if this has happened before or why mine did not deploy...updated 10/06/14updated 3/25/2015.....updated 12/09/15 .updated 05/17/2017

Even after clearing the faults, i am continuing to get a warning of a passenger "restraint system malfunction."best guess by bmw mechanic is that it's the front passenger seat occupancy sensor mat.i am told it's a "common bmw problem."various chat room discussions confirm this. Some bmw models have had the warranty extended to cover this issue (by bmwna) but not my particular model.this is a bmw-wide design flaw that affects the safety of the vehicle and bmw expects me to pay to fix their mistake.
Had several recalls sent but everytime i contact and took my car . Bmw stated that parts are not in. Been 2 years, so i was still paying and then told until get get fixed. No payments will be made on a car they knew was a safety hazard and did not for 2 years. Took car again in 2/2017. Same answer. Now they want to take care and charge me due to their lack to service my bmw , which is a safety hazard to drive
My car has 66k miles on it and about a month ago, the seatbelt and airbag indicator lights showed up on the dash. This may or may not be related to the fact that the seatbelt ding goes off when there is nothing in the seat if the seat was hot due to sun exposure. The heat panel was replaced a few years back for the incessant dinging, but returned a few months ago. The passenger side seatbelt ding goes off intermittently and the indicator light for the airbag and seatbelt are constantly on while the car is on.

I was on the street. When i got into a car accident on may 28 2017. My airbags deployed after i slammed someone in the back because my brakes were not propyl working. My airbags also shot out some metal fragments cutting my hand up.
I have been to the dealership several timessince this recall and the problem is still not fixed. It's been over a year i've been on a waiting list and we are trying to sale the car and can't because of the recall! this isridiculous.we need the parts ordered and dealt with it's been over a year .
Over the course of the last 2 months i get an oc3 passenger seat mat error.i noticed that there is an extended warranty for this but my car isn't covered.
Takata recall. Even though my car's driver's side airbag may contain the takata psdi-5 inflator, bmw has not issued a recall to replace it. I will not drive the car or let any of my family drive it until bmw replaces the psdi-5 inflator or determines that my car has a safe inflator.i spoke with a bmw-usa customer rep. On september 19, 2017 and his only answer to all of my questions and concerns was, "there is no recall on your car!" he would not even acknowledge the fact that there are over 800,000 bmw cars with faulty takata inflators yet to be replaced. I asked that my car be inspected and the inflator replaced if it was a psdi-5 or that bmw provide me a loaner car until they finally did fix mine.if my car contains the psdi-5 inflator it is as potentially deadly now as when bmw replaces it with a safe one and until they do, i will not drive the car.will nhtsa help me in this situation?

The vehicles rdc module that communicates to the tpms gets wet and causes a complete electrical system failure. This module on is located under the passenger rear wheel splash shield on the outside of the vehicle and is exposed to elements. This is a poor design and location. Failure happened during vehicle operation and even when off and it causes complete loss of all safety function. It seems to be a common issue when researching online.
'"takata recall"i have not had any problems but i dont want the takata airbags due to recall it is dangerous and could kill you.
This 2011 bmw 3 series was in an accident sep of 2014 and repaired.the steering wheel airbag and the side curtain airbag were replaced.no one has been able to tell us if these replacement air bags are safe.the repair facility can only say that all parts were bmw parts and the airbags were takata. How do we know the replaced air bags are ok.?
Takata recallfront drivers side airbag inflated late and shouldn't have as well as the passenger side airbags in the roof in both front and back seat. Side frontal passenger airbag did not inflate. Chemical reaction occurred. Airbag deployment broke my left hand.
Takata- recall related to airbags,& seat belt, however when you call the bmw of memphis they state there is no recall or remedy for the airbags & seat belts.. It is very unsafe to drive this car as everytime you in the car the seat belt light & airbag lights came on all the time and stay on. There should be a national recall with a remedy to fix this problem as safety come first. However, i have call several times and have been told there is no remedy for airbags and seatbelt issue.the vehicle can be stationary when this happens and in motion

Front passenger restraint system malfunction upon movement on city street
I received a safety recall notice in march of 2016 and the dealer has still not been able to obtain parts to perform the required repair.
In late 2017-early 2018 the passenger seat belt warning chime wouldcome on occasionally when something less than 5 pounds was on the seat and no one was sitting on the seat. Eventually, it happened all the time when nothing at all was on the seat. I always needed to drive the car with the seat belt connected. I learned it was a serious safety issue and contacted bmw dealer in early 2018 when the car had 88254 miles and they said it was no longer covered under warranty and would cost about $1300 to fix the airbag sensor mat. I found a repair place to replace the oc3 passenger seat mat with bmw part for almost $900.i had no idea this was a common problem until august 2018 i received a notice for the exact same part for our other car, a 2004 x3 which gave a warranty extension and offered reimbursement if the part had already been replaced. I contacted bmw and they refused to offer same extended warranty for airbag sensor matts in my 2011 328i. Since my car experienced the exact same symptoms as those covered by the warranty extension and, i have found online that this is a common problem with many bmws, the logical conclusion would indicate that there is a flaw with the sensor itself not specific to the x3 model. In fact the sensor has not yetfailed in our 2004 x3 that has over 160,000 miles.the 2011 328 sensorhad the same exact symptoms with a serious safety issue for the airbag system.i've owned many vehicles with this same feature and have never had any problems. At the very least a new investigation should be done to determine whether this is a serious issue for all bmw models. I drove for over a year with this problem until i realized it was a safety issue and the airbags might not work if the sensor was broken. It was very expensive to fix. My online research showed there may already bea nhtsa claim related to this. Thank you

"takata recall" while stopped at a red light, we were struck from behind by a vehicle who then ran from the scene.the impact was severe enough that my passenger, julie coppersmith lost consciousness for a few seconds from either hitting the dash or just from the violent movement forward. She was wearing her seat belt but the shoulder restraint failed and the airbag did not deploy. The malfunction was acknowledged on the cars information system.
I received a safety recall notice with the heading "final remedy available" and was instructed to contact my bmw service center to schedule a repair.when i did, i was advised that the remedy is unavailable and will not be available until a later date, maybe the summer of 2017.the notice suggests that i inform the nhtsa if bmw is unable to remedy the defect within a reasonable period of time.given that it is unclear when the remedy will be available, i am notifying the nhtsa of my experience.thank you.
Takata recallaibag light is on in vehicle. I barely drive car and do not understand why this is on. When i check recalls 8 seen this model is affected but when i put in vin no current reveal. This is very contradicting. The vehicle was stationary. I turned it on to warm up and the airbag notification came on.

I got a passenger restraint failure light on my vehicle all of a sudden. Said lights turned on as i was turning to enter the highway route 2 in fitchburg ma. I have heard that this is an ongoing issue with bmws since mid 2000s yet mines is not on recall. I have tried everything but can not correct the error. I am concerned of an airbag malfunction in the event of an accident. Hoping you can assist me with this issue.
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 13v044000 (electrical system). The vehicle was repaired by the dealer (little rock bmw in little rock, ar). After the repair, the vehicle began experiencing a loss of power. The contact called the dealer back, but the dealer did not take responsibility for the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. Additionally, the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v176000 (engine and engine cooling) and 16v071000 (air bags). The failure mileage was approximately 105,000. Driving in the town of blacksburg va. A two lane with bus access lane didn't quit move over enough and my passenger tires scrubbed the curb that set off both front air bags, broke front and moon roof glass blew drivers sun visor to the back window, broke both drink holders in the passangers front dash.
Thank you
I am receiving a 'passenger restraint malfunction' message on my dash and the seatbelt and airbag light are stuck on.online bmw states "the oc3 mat needs to be replaced.
Over the course of the last 2 months i get an oc3 passenger seat mat error.i noticed that there is an extended warranty for this but my car isn't covered.

The headlights, blinker lights, dash lights, interior lights, and power to the windows doesn't work. From my research online it is because of the footwell (frm) module going bad. The issue just started once i started the vehicle and nothing worked when it did prior to parking.
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. While driving at various speeds and attempting to utilize the defrost to clear the windshield, the defroster failed to work. The contact also noticed an abnormal burning odor in the vehicle. In addition, the front windows would not roll up or down intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing; however the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.
My car started giving error codes of chassis stabilization malfunction errors. It started draining the battery (new battery less than a year) where it needed to be jumped. The dealer said the power supply cable from the battery to the motor needs to be replaced. Vehicle started then wouldn't run normal and then battery was dead. Once jumped it ran but shakes bad.

The dealer indicated that they would be able to schedule a diagnostic appointment and that a supervisor would call to determine if there was an option for a loaner vehicle. The contact waited for a call for weeks, but did not receive one. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was not available.

Wheel speed sensorsfail under hard breaking happened 2 times car brakes abs and anti swerve system stop working and breaking is affected hard peddle stopping distance affected. Bmw replaced them under warrantee but would not replace the 2 that are working until they fail. My daughter drives this car for school and it is a safety hansard that bmw will not replace. Happened twice once in town the other time on highway had to tow the car to dealer both times.
One day my driver door panel just stopped working i could no longer roll down my front windows and only the back windows go down using the back window controls only. Also my blinkers randomly stopped working and the lighting in my car also does not come on in the dash area and inside mirror. When driving it is a danger because i cannot use a blinker or roll down the front window to signal that i need to make a turn.
I bought a used 2011 bmw 328i from a used dealership. I drove it home the first day started to overheat. I checked the carfax on the car & it has 2 recalls.is it illegal for a dealer to sell me a car knowing it has a 2 safety recalls?
Ac stopped blowing cool air and blows out hot air even at the lowest temperature. Also a burning smell is noticeable when getting into the car.
Enclosed letter.
Car would not start, did not respond to charging via jumper cables earlier that day. It started when connected to the charger by the tow truck operater. I was told to drive for 30-45 min by the bmw service center and the tow driver. While driving on a city street about 35 min later everything stopped, lights, electrical and engine. I was stranded in the middle of the road. I called police to help with traffic control as well as insurance for roadside assistance. Could not move the vehicle due to it was locked in place. And no hazard lights either. Had to call another tow truck. Bmw service states it is the battery cable and will cost $3000.00 to fix.
Purchased a 2011 bmw 328i used it came with extended warranty the first issue i had was in my foot well module i came in from work parked car in drive way woke up the next morning to no headlights turn signals and car would not start i contacted bmw because there was a recall on the foot well module took car in to get everything checked out bmw replaced foot well modulesaid everything was ok drove car home thinking everything was ok parked car woke up the next morning car was completely dead no power so itook battery to get tested and had to replace the battery also the battery terminal cause saftey terminal went off from there i replaced everything that was needed car has power but will not crank had it diagnostics said it was relay replaced all the relays in the car no start same issue had the crank position sensor replaced still no start battery good looked online to see that the frm could cause electrical issues which is clearly the issue but all problems to this point got worse since module was replaced by bmw dealership and diagnostics by them stating everything was ok. Ive literally exhausted my options of buying and replacing parts and the problem persist when i contacted bmw about the recall on the electrical problems with the foot well module instead of them just replacing a module and saying my electrical was ok when it clearly was not
My bmw was parked and turned off when it started on fire. It was parked in a soccer field at camp minikani on july 1, 2018 in richfield, wisconsin. The fire department said the fire was caused in the blower motor under the dash. Bmw had a recall on this car, at the time of fire, which they refused to fix. I received an initial notice from bmw in november of 2017. After receiving the notice i phoned bmw who said they did not have a solution to the problem and would contact me when they did. In the meantime my car was a total loss due to the fire.

Received recall notifications (pcv valve and wiring for heating and air-conditioning) at the end of 2017.have checked and rechecked with dealership to get the repairs.finally called bmw usa and was told no parts available until late spring or early summer??!!meanwhile, article in the la times said that repairs would begin in december, 2017 and quoted a bmw official as advising "park your car outside" (in case the thing just ignites by itself while parked?).--and for those of us who cannot do that?why do they say that customer safety is their #1 priority?!it is outrageous.

As i came to a stop at a red light the screen showed red saying transmission issues take to nearest repair facility asap i drove thru intersection about 1000 ft made a u-turn to get off road turned car off for safety and car would not restart had to have it towed to nearest dealer where i was informed 4 days later that their diagnostics said it has had at least 2 faults on battery and possibly 3 faults on transmission it will cost $2500. Plus to repair depending on what they find now my issue is that i just purchased this car 84 days prior to this thinking that all i've heard is how great a vehicle these are dependable, sharp, etc. Foolish me since my purchase i had to get a new gas cap no problem replace front brakes andnoticed that front passenger door doesn't unlock or lock with auto key trunk doesn't open from inside vehicle just little annoying things the fox report came with no reports of accidents but not the case when replacing brakes showing signs of accident so here i sit with a car parked in my driveway that i'm afraid to drive because i can't afford to fix for possibly 6 months inconvenient perplexed disappointed just todays feelings i don't think i would recommend this brand of vehicle to anyone. Because i was going for a weekend trip with friends plans already set we were forced to rent a car to get thru weekend at a cost of $130. And then it costs me $ 163. For diagnostics and an additional $399. To have it towed back to my residence because i couldn't afford repair work at this time this vehicle only has 83,000 miles to have this many issues just doesn't set right with me. So from bmw's viewpoint how can i get these issues resolved without going bankrupt
I received initial notice of important safety recall from bmw november 2017,#1no. 17v-676 blower motor wiring, and #2no. 17v-683pcv valve heater.the notice said "remedy unavailable" in both cases.it is now april 2018 and when i go onto the nhtsa site i still get that the remedy is not available.i feel this is a case of the bmw center being "unable to remedy the defect within a reasonable period of time," and am therefore informing you of this issue.

Ac/heat blower motor and final stage unit, vehicle at 5700 miles burned out resistor/harness connections. While in motion, blower suddenly stop and saw smoke come out of the vent with a burning smell due to the electrical shortage. I immediately turned the fan switch off. The resistor burned out and frayed the wires of the blower motor.researched the issue and this is a common problem to the 2013 and earlier models.due to this issue, the manufacturer changed their design/ harness but did not perform a recall on any vehicles. This issue is a safety concern due to internal cabin fires and total vehicle loss due to electrical fires. I did have my parts replaced at my own expense due to vehicle out of warranty.

2011 328i with 53,500 miles. Engine cold start hesitation with vibrations while idling stationary. Took vehicle in to dealership to diagnose issue, oil change. Was told that it was the eccentric shaft sensor/gaskets, battery tested low to include vvt sensors and left pad brake sensor due to wire cut. Total cost $2300 dollars. Next day, continued to have the same problem. Went back to dealer and stated they didn't find any further issues.did research into the issue with other bmw owners which had the vehicles serviced for replacements of vanos, mass air flow sensors, etc.these codes weren't showing up on my vehicle. Decided to take a look at my engine myself and noticed oil leaking from the valve cover gasket area and could see oil that had leak on the bottom of the engine bay, now at 60k miles, took it in early for an oil change and diagnosis again due to possible fire if oil spills on mounting struts. This replacement will cost me another $2k+ for a valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket replacements, yet this wasn't made known when i had gotten my oil changed previously. The safety issue is the possibility of an engine fire and bmw's negligence in taking responsibility for the manufacturing flaws, especially when so many owners are having problems with these issues starting early at 40k miles.
My car is below 70k miles never over heated or had any issues but out of nowhere my trunk started unlocking on its on, killing my battery. My radio stopped working and i've been hearing noises from my door speakers. & now today my car will not start at all & if it does it turns off immediately.

After getting my car serviced at tom bush i had several new alerts go off for sensors going out and electrical issues that resulted in more than $3,000 in repairs i was required to pay out of pocket. I came to find out these elements were caused by 2 of the open recalls because the vehicle kept overheating and caused sensors etc to burn out. I called the number provided in documentation i received after repairs had been made and was told there was no remedy available. I asked the customer service rep what to do since my vehicle was already affected and i had to pay out of pocket. The rep said to contact the bmw service center for assistance. I called the service center several times and even called and left voicemails for the general manager of the service center only to never receive a call back from anyone. This ordeal lasted several months and i eventually traded the bmw in for a new car because i was not receiving any communication back from bmw or the dealer service center and could not afford to keep paying for costly repairs due to recalls with no remedies available. This is the first complaint i am submitting related to my 2011 328i bmw. The other complaint i have to file next is for the airbag recall which also caused major damages to the vehicle.

Takata recall:all began from purchase 09/2013 had engine bolt fixed on recall, but since several engine work performed due to loss of power when driving, had replaced coil/tune up done, several gaskets in the engine hasd to be replaced by bmw dealer, and dealer can't fix vehicle for "sputtering/back firing" when sitting at light or stationary it just stutters. Time to time driver window will not roll down when in car. Also, the seat belt light chimes to put seat belt on and no one is in passenger seat. Stereo lights pixels burning out & sound from time to time the speakers has muffled sound or poor quality sound. Brought car with 20,000 miles and now has 57,000 miles and issues with engine is way too much for low mileage.

This vehicle has stalled numerous time when driven (in motion) at low speed on a city street. It has happened again 2 days ago when i was driving (in motion) and tried to make a right turn. The enginestopped and the steering wheel refused to turn. I would have been dead if another vehicle was coming from the other side of the road.this vehicle was taken to a bmw dealer's service numerous time for the exact same problem when it was under manufacturer warranty but the service and bmw usa always said that none of the other customers have ever reported this issue and they never heard of it from another customer.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. The contact smelled burning wires and stated that the blower motor turned on and off after the vehicle drove over a bump in the road. The symptoms were similar to those listed in nhtsa campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system). An independent mechanic verified the failure with the vehicle. Bmw portland (2001 sw jefferson st, portland, or 97201, (971) 340-4590) and the manufacturer stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. This vehicle was purchased used and before the manufacturer's 50,000 mile warranty period expired.since 1/2013, this vehicle has been in and out of the service shop for ignition coil issues. Since january 2013, this vehicle has had 3 ignition coils replaced, one during the extended warranty, one that i paid for and one that was completed gratis.my concern is that this appears to be some type of manufacturer's defect and i am very concerned about my safety. So much so thati contacted bmw north america during the week of december 26, 2013 and spoke with [xxx]. When i asked to speak with the president of bmw north america, i was told by [xxx] that there would be no further escalation beyond her because her job was to resolve issues and she basically pushed my concern aside as the wind blows leaves.this is a major safety issue that bmw needs to resolve immediately before someone loses their life.i have done research on the internet and have found that this is an ongoing issue with bmw's which i have now come to understand = bring more worry.i have owned over 10 cars in my lifetime and never have i experienced so many trips to the repair shop!!! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My 2011 328i started having problems with the windshield washer motor, then the heater motor cutting in and out, duringa severe thunderstorm, put all the windows down (keys hanging on a rack inside my house) shorting out the center console module. Then the car was put away for the winter, the battery would not keep a charge, tried starting in the spring and the ecu electrical board fried out, this was not covered by factory or auto insurance (total cost for repairs $4500.00) 'ultimate driving machine' is a lie! bmw 'burned motor wiring'.
I had just left my house for work and was a few minutes down the street at a light when i saw white smoke coming from the dash/hood area. I pulled over and turned off the car and got out within seconds the car was up in flames. I could hear the car turning itself on even though it was off and i had the keys. The fire department came. My car literally burnt to the ground. They said it seemed like an electrical problem. If i wasn't at a stop, or if i was on the freeway the car filled so quickly with white smoke that i wouldn't have been able to see and could have crashed or been trapped. Bmw did nothing and took no responsibility. They tried to offer me a discount towards a new bmw if i signed an nda. I know see all the news reports and wanted to make sure this was reported. This happened in 11/2016. I have video and photos
My vehicle windows are inoperable, hazard lights are inoperable, side mirrors are inoperable, turning signals are inoperable. The vehicle is in motion while turning signals are inoperable creating a hazard. If vehicle breaks down hazard warning lights is inoperable creating a potential vehicle collision . Windows unable to roll down in an event of being pulled over. The component or part that is creating this safety issue is the frm module or footwell module of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. While parking the vehicle, the engine suddenly shut off and could not be restarted. The battery was recharged and the engine was restarted, but the vehicle experienced several electrical failures, including the windows not functioning, the instrument panel lighting not illuminating, and the turn signals not operating. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the footwell module (frm) was faulty. The frm was reprogrammed, but the electrical failures continued. The manufacturer and local dealer (century west bmw, 4245 lankershim blvd, north hollywood, ca) were notified of the failures, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 92,000.
Connection between battery and fuse box is corroded and causing issues. This is already a recall for certain 2007 to 2011 bmw 3 series models but my specific vin is not included and it is having the exact issue that the recall specifies on very similar cars. Car's dash lights, headlights, and radio flicker on and off and the car has completely shut off while driving before.
In models equipped with a heated steering wheel, the steering wheel thermostat very occassionally malfunctions and overheats.it becomes very hot, almost too hot to touch and potentially causing burns.it appears power cycling the switch several times can resolve the issue temporarily.however, it still can take several minutes to cool down to a safe operating temperature.obviously, this can become very dangerous when operating a vehicle, especially at highway speeds.
Footwell module failed. This is a known issue by bmw. Device controls accessory lighting, central locking system, turn signals, and power windows. Bmw si b01 20 16 released extending warranty on frm to 10 years, 152000 miles. Frm on my vehicle failed at 195,000. Total replacement cost was $1,000

We bought the car late october 2015. In june 2016 i parked it in a locked garage. The next morning i got in it and the visor was melted. Again december 27, 2016 i parked it in a locked garage and when i got in it, it had large burn marks. Approx 14 to 18 inches long and 1 1/2 wide. I took it to bmw and they told me we did it. I told him if i would have put anything that hot in the car the leather seats would have melted and i would have burned my hands. He just brushed us off.we called the dealer and he told me to bring it back and he would make it good. He told us the car had depreciated from $20k to 8 to 9k in a year and wanted to sell us another $22k car. We still owe 14k on it. I showed it to our insurance agent and showed pictures to other car dealers, they all told us it is a fire hazard. After reading about all of the electrical fires and sunroofs exploding in bmw's i do not feel safe.

The vehicles rdc module that communicates to the tpms gets wet and causes a complete electrical system failure. This module on is located under the passenger rear wheel splash shield on the outside of the vehicle and is exposed to elements. This is a poor design and location.
While driving my vehicle engine stalled and lost power.i tried to restart while in the middle of the city street with several cars behind and coming from oppisit direction.i placed the car in park and jumped out leaving the vehicle while watching and looking at other cars avoiding from hitting it.two jentalman can to help me push it out of th the middle of the street.my sister was with me and was telling to to pull to the side but with no power the car was stiff/suff and brakes was also stiff.very scrary!the vehicle was just released from the dealer 2/26/2019. Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain 2006-2011 323i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi and m3, 2007-2011 328i xdrive, 335i xdrive and 335is and 2009-2011 335d vehicles. The wiring and electrical connectors for the system that controls air flow for the heating and air conditioning system may overheat.consequencewiring that overheats could cause the electrical connectors to melt, and increase the risk of a fire, even when the vehicle is unattended. I have been smelling burning rubber and at times it looks as if the car is smoking. I was notified of the matter but was out on bed rest due to high risk pregnancy. I did have the car serviced. Please advise!
Fourth wheel speed sensor was replaced today. The car has about 27,000 miles. The first sensor failed when the car was about 2 1/2 years old. The fact that all four wheel speed sensor have failed suggests to me a design or manufacturing flaw. It is a safety issue in that the abs, stability control, and cruise control are disabled when this happens.
The engine light would come on, but nothing would be wrong with the car at least i thought.

3-times the car's engine was turned off by the computer while we were driving on the freeway and the streets. Car info says "fuel pump, service soon" and then the car won't start for an hour. First time we took it to beverly hills bmw center and they replace the fuel pump. Next day, fuel all over our garage. Took it back for them to secure it better.next morning we got gas all over the garage again. I had to secure the fuel pump. I'm not confident in the service at bmw centers but i really have a problem with the car turning off while your in the fast line on the freeway. We were almost hit by a truck the third time it stopped.
The car would run rough and the service engine light came on. The vehicle got progressively worse until it wasn't drivable. I took it to the bmw dealer and they said the bolts on the exhaust vanos unit fell out and it would be $4,000 to repair it. Because the vehicle has a branded title they would not cover it under the extended warranty. Apparently, this is a common problem for this vehicle. 156,000 were recalled and an additional 170,000 were supposed to be covered under an extended warranty. Evidently my vehicle was part of the 170,000 but bmw refuses to honor the warranty. Please help

Engine oil leaking onto the road.oil leaking from oil pan and oil filter housing dripping down onto my garage floor.bmw said due to aged and its my responsibility to repair them.but it has only 76k miles and shouldn't be leaking any dangerous oil onto to public roads.this is just poor quality coming from bmw and they are passing on the expensive repair costs onto me.

Blower motor recall and pcv valve recall.hello, i got a recall notification in the e-mail for the pcv valve and the blower motor.i had already taken my car into bmw previously to have my vehicle worked on by bmw and carmax for problems on these parts and relating parts because they were not working properly.i was wondering if you could please take a deeper dive into my issue.bmw has said they will only reimburse about $250 when i paid much more than that before for the parts directly affected and indirectly affected by faulty parts. I look forward to hearing back from you and appreciate all the help.
I brought my car to a local garage when the check engine light came on.the mechanic had spent over 5 hours taking our car apart once he found that some of the bolts on the camshaft were broken and had fallen in the engine as far as the oil pan.i called bmw and they said that although there was an extended recall on this that the would not cover any of the expenses for this major repair which was over $5500!they would have covered the repair if i brought the car into one of their service centers.i would have had to pay my local garage thousands of dollars to give me the car in pieces and have is towed to bmw.i told my mechanic to complete the repair and i would attempt to fight bmw.contacting youis my first step in fight bmw.i will also look into a class action that may have started against them and join it
Was driving home on the interstate at 60-65mph and suddenly the car began to slow down and loose power.no indication that something was wrong until i pulled off the roadway and shut the vehicle off.i exited the vehicle raised the hood.next, i noticed all the engine oil had began draining out of the vehicle into the ground.
Cylinder head bolt detachment from factory production causing massive oil leak on engine block.my vehicle rapidly lost 1 quart of oil in 2.1 miles of driving. When i took it to a certified bmw service center, they found that the cylinder head bolt was complete severed from the bolt stem causing oil to spray out of the engine.this detachment caused oil to spray out of the engine, rapidly depleting oil from the vehicle. This oil sprayed rapidly onto the alternator, belt and other components in the engine bay.the certified bmw mechanic stated that this issue is seen frequently with bmw from the factory production methods and torque specs in factory production process. The cylinder head bolt becomes severed from the bolt stem/threaded portion of the bolt (see pictures included). According to certified bmw mechanic, this bolt would only be manipulated during factory production. I was able to catch the problem before the oil drained completed out of my vehicle or before the engine caught fire. There is significant damage to the engine bay because of oil spraying. I am concerned that a major engine component on my vehicle failed. This failure poses a significant safety and quality issue. This is a part integrity/quality issue that needs to be addressed by bmw immediately.
Was driving on freeway and car just started slowing down and turned off, was driving around 40 to 50 mph
2 recalls: i have two recalls on my car and bmw does not have a solution or a potential solution or date. They will not suggest a fix or replace anything. The report claims high risk of car setting on fire. This seems like a pretty significant issue.

The back door passenger side wood door panel is off and it was never fixed or replaced when i purchased the vehicle.this will probably cost me money to get the wood panel put back on the door.the same lights always appear on my dash board.the indicator lamps are on:dsc is deactivated.i do not know how to get this fixed.the brake light stays on and it is illuminating a yellow light.i managed to reset the service engine soon light after reading youtube.i took my car back to dealership twice and they did a diagnostic and couldn't get the service engine soon light to turn off.also the dealership told me i have new brakes and a new oil change.a friend told me how to check my oil and my oil was a quart low.i drove to the nearest gas station and put in a quart of synthetic blend motor oil.i discovered after driving to washington from las vegas, nevada my car leaks from my engine.

In 2018 classic bmw dealer diagnosed oil pan gasket leaking and my oil level was low. He recommend gasket replacement at a cost of $1100 i wrote letter & called bmw corporate usa for investigation and resolve the issue. But 1 yr later, they have not resolved the issue & have used my expired warranty as reason for not looking at issue. I have found that this is common issue with bmw cars through my online research. I would like nhtsa to investigate these complaints.

My bmw does not idle smooth , it hesitates like it is choking on gas, its idle gauge goes from 0 to 15 constantly. At first i thought it was a transmission problem. I had it tunes=d up and the problem still exists. It has little power on and off. You have to accelerate hard to get it to go up hills and it is not a smooth shift when your riding it hard to get the idle up to par to go faster.

My 2011 bmw 328i (i am original owner) has ~53000 miles but is showing symptoms such as engine misfiring, rough idle, loss in power and acceleration. Car almost stalled on the highway a couple of times. The diagnostic codes indicate ignition coil and spark plug issues but this is not usual for a car with only about 53000 miles. Please investigate if there's anyknown issues with these components.
My issue is exactly as described in recall campaign 14v-176, also listed as si b11 07 14. It is a faulty vanos unit with failing bolts. My car's model and year are listed in both of these documents, however my specific vin is not listed as part of the recall. My car is currently damaged due to the vanos bolts shearing off completely and falling into the oil pan, as described exactly in the above recall notices. This is the diagnosis from bmw of seattle. It is very clear that my car suffers the same faulty part as listed and should be part of the recall. I believe it is in error that it is not.as it stands, bmw cannot help me and are forcing me to pay out of pocket. The service technician tells me that my vin should be included in the recall and does not understand why it isn't, but because it isn't they will not fix the issue under the recall.this is a very serious issue. Please correct the documentation to include my vehicle, which matches the listed vehicles in the vanos recall paperwork. Thank you.
Known problem vanos bolts sheered off in to oil pad. Bmw states my car in not in the recall when it appears it should be. The faulty item failed rendering my car useless. But bmw will not repair free of cost under the part extended warranty because it's not a recall.
My son's bmw (2011 bmw 328i xdrive) spontaneously combusted on sep 4 2017 while he was driving back from work at 4 am on sunrise highway ny.luckily he noticed sparks and smoke and pulled over and got out. The car fully burnt within 30 minutes.

Ive literally exhausted my options of buying and replacing parts and the problem persist when i contacted bmw about the recall on the electrical problems with the foot well module instead of them just replacing a module and saying my electrical was ok when it clearly was not
It seems that the bolts holding the vanos unit intact have come loose or sheared and cause a loud high pitch squealing along with a higher volume in oil loss and this has also cause a seal of some sort or go bad and excess oil burning. Also, the car has a loud tick in the engine now. My vin number is not accepted u der the recall list but my cars make model and year for the credentials along with the problems that the engine continues to have. I would appreciate it if the company adds this car and itā€™s vin to the list of recall so i can have it properly fixed
On a recall blower moter wiring and recall pcv valve heater./check engine light on,engine making knocking sound. According to documents.
I have less than 39,000 miles on my vehicle, yet, the valve cover gasket is cracked. When the manufacturer recall was made public, bmw refused to check my car, because my vin number was not on their list. My standard warranty expired, but my extended warranty only covers engine intake and exhaust camshaft. Is it unreasonable to request a valve cover gasket which seems to be damaged prematurely? i was driving when i noticed a little smoke and an odor. Meineke was the closest car repair nearby, and they are holding my car until i get a response from bmw.
Recently i drove my car and the engine started to make a high pitched noise. I smelled a gasy burning smell coming from the car. I brought it to a mechanic and he said bolts had come lose in the engine. I asked if it was something i had done and he said he had seen it with many bmw cars out of nowhere.

Footwell module failed. This is a known issue by bmw. Device controls accessory lighting, central locking system, turn signals, and power windows. Bmw si b01 20 16 released extending warranty on frm to 10 years, 152000 miles. Frm on my vehicle failed at 195,000. Total replacement cost was $1,000
I purchased my vehicle and my 3rd top center brake light has never worked.my tiresthe tread seems low and i should have had new tires on the car when i purchased it.the steering seems more difficult when turning than it should be.also i didn't receive 2 keys.my owners manual says i should receive 2 keys.i also had to order my owners manual and my car didn't come with it's owners manual.
My 16 year oldgranddaughterwas driving her bmw when all of a sudden a message popped up onthe screento use cautionand take the car to a bmw service center for service.she is a new driver she could at that timecould not drive over 20mph. Shewas terrified. We called fora tow at her request. We sent forhelp
The headlights, blinker lights, dash lights, interior lights, and power to the windows doesn't work. From my research online it is because of the footwell (frm) module going bad. The issue just started once i started the vehicle and nothing worked when it did prior to parking.

Thank you.
My car is below 70k miles never over heated or had any issues but out of nowhere my trunk started unlocking on its on, killing my battery. My radio stopped working and i've been hearing noises from my door speakers. & now today my car will not start at all & if it does it turns off immediately.

Fuel pump malfunction so i replaced the fuel pump 2 days later i get another fuel pump malfunction

The vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign id number: 13v044000 (electrical system) however, continued to exhibit electrical system issues with the power locks. Vanos system camshaft gear bolts sheared causing loss of power in the freeway.
The engine light would come on, but nothing would be wrong with the car at least i thought.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle and it shook excessively. The contact mentioned that the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the housing bolt of the variable camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would not immediately accelerate and sputtered when depressing the accelerator pedal. On several occasions, smoke was present inside the cabin. The vehicle was taken to classic bmw (2571 som center rd, willoughby hills, oh), but the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The vehicle lost the ability to shift from p to r to n to d and vice versa due to a malfunction of the gear shifter mechanism while driving.this bmw model uses a mechanical cable to move the automatic transmission gear selector.the cable assembly is held in place by a metal clip (bmw securing plate, part number 25161421252) so the gear knob can push or pull the cable from p to r to n to d and vice versa inside the cabin when the driver selects different gears.this clip can easily fall off as the cable assembly bends the metal clip over time.this issue could be fatal if the automatic transmission shifts gears suddenly from drive to neutral or reverse while driving at speed.
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact continued depressing the accelerator pedal until the vehicle responded. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 49,500.
I was driving on free way around 65-70 mph, suddenly the car lost control, veering, jerking, steering wheel lost control.
1.) vehicle had very rough idle while idling in neutral at stop light (0 mph). Tachometer was fluctuating rapidly between 500 and 900 rpm and the vehicle was shaking violently. Drove immediately to dealership, who found no fault codes and made no repairs. Vehicle drove normally afterwards. Odometer approximately 100 miles.2.) vehicle stalled while idling in neutral at a stop light (0 mph). Engine died with no shudder or any abnormal noises. Vehicle restarted immediately and drove normally afterwards. Odometer approximately 800 miles.3.) vehicle stalled again while idling in neutral at a stop light (0 mph). Again, it restarted immediately and drove normally afterwards. Brought vehicle to dealership, who found no fault codes and made no repairs. Odometer approximately 1500 miles.4.) vehicle stalled again while driving at 10 mph in 2nd gear while the engine was cold. Restarted immediately and drove normally afterwards. Again, brought vehicle to dealership, who found no fault codes and made no repairs. Odometer approximately 2050 miles.
While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called bmw of rockville at (301) 476-0126 (1300 rockville pike, md 20852) and was informed that the part was not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. The contact stated that after shifting into park, the vehicle suddenly began to move as if the contact had not secured the vehicle in park. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and the failure mileages were 8,000.
This vehicle was purchased nov. 2011. Ever since, we've experienced the following: the mechanism/gear seems to want to shift to a faster gear when riding the brake at a lower speed to come to a stop, which in turn causes the car to surge forward. I had an accident due to this problem.i was injured and still suffering from the accident.bmw mechanics/engineer inspected the car but could not find the problem.also, the car sags on the right side rear, which was seen and acknowledged by the bmw. They said that the sag is within bmw specs.this vehicle was purchased with only 3,684 miles. We were told that one of their wealthy clients leased it while waiting for his porch to arrive.we discovered later from the car fax that the vehicle had a prior owner and was purchased for commercial use.we feel that this vehicle came with a defect from the manufacturer.we continue to experience this problem with the vehicle, which we feel is a danger to us and the public.we've already had two accidents due to this problem; one by me and the other by my husband.we drive it with the awareness of its danger but are not always in a situation to control the vehicle with it surges forward.thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Shortly after the warranty on this vehicle expired in september, 2014, i noticed a shutter while accelerating in the 35-45 mph range, however no warning lights were illuminated.i took the vehicle to an authorized bmw mechanic, and, initially, the mechanic could not resolve the problem. On october 27, 2016, i returned to the mechanic for some minor repairs, and the mechanic informed me that the shutter problem was due to a defect in the transmission (torque) converter.he said that he is seeing this problem arise with more and more frequency in bmws that are brought to him for service and maintenance. This may be a serial defect in bmw transmissions.while accelerating in my vehicle, the shutter impairs both driving pleasure and performance.it also raises safety concerns.
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. While driving various speeds, the driver's seat belt would tighten around the driver. The issue made it impossible for the driver to turn left or right to see out of the side mirrors properly. Also, when the seat belt was unlatched, it failed to retract correctly. The vehicle was taken to bmw of sarasota (5151 clark rd, sarasota, fl 34233(888) 849-1985) where it was diagnosed that the driver's seat belt needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered the contact a 10% discount. The contact was unhappy with the manufacturer's offer. The failure mileage was 42,148.
I got a passenger restraint failure light on my vehicle all of a sudden. Said lights turned on as i was turning to enter the highway route 2 in fitchburg ma. I have heard that this is an ongoing issue with bmws since mid 2000s yet mines is not on recall. I have tried everything but can not correct the error. I am concerned of an airbag malfunction in the event of an accident. Hoping you can assist me with this issue.
Thank you
Over the course of the last 2 months i get an oc3 passenger seat mat error.i noticed that there is an extended warranty for this but my car isn't covered.
When i bought this car from the third party dealership, it had airbag problem, when i told the guy about the problem. He said he will lower the price and give me the car. The airbag for the car is too expensive so he doesn't want to mess around with it.

Stopped after exciting freeway with traffic flow.suv came up behind me and didn't stop and hit me from behind going 40-60 mph.impact threw me back then headrest deployed and punched me in the back of head which i then hit searing wheel. Instantly felt pain in neck and head.taken by ambulance to hospital.2 c.t. Scans done, chest xrays, and 2 mris of neck and brain showing spinal stenosis of cervical region, bulge of cervical disc without myelopathy.i also sustained a concussion and whiplash which is still present as of today.car totalled. One of doctors stated impact from headrest deploying was same as being punched in back of head from a 200 lb. Man.
Passenger seat occupancy failure malfunction due to the wiring . Cost over $1000.
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. The contact stated that the front driver seat was not positioned properly and caused the driver to sustain severe back and shoulder problems. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and that a specialist would diagnose the vehicle. The contact was awaiting a callback from the specialist. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000.
The back seat melted for no known reason. It started in the backseat arm rest, and i had to pay to get it fixed, you can see that the leather is a different color, then it moved onto the seat.no one ever sits back there, i went to braman bmw and they said it had to do with the elements, i didn't know that you had to keep it in a garage, that is something that should of been told ahead of time. I don't have a garage so it's impossible, there should be a recall. Other manufacturers like lexus has had recalls on similar issues.

I was on the street. When i got into a car accident on may 28 2017. My airbags deployed after i slammed someone in the back because my brakes were not propyl working. My airbags also shot out some metal fragments cutting my hand up.
I bought this car from the dealership so i have to return the car because all this issues and now the car is for sale again at the dealership
I have had seven (7) abs wheel speed sensors requiring replacement(every wheel at least once, the right front twice, and the left front three times) since i purchased the car new in 2011. It currently has relatively low mileage (<41,000 miles); the first failure occurred in january 2014 at about 12, 700 miles.i have never had to replace an abs wheel sensor on any of the numerous other cars with abs that i have owned since 1989. The loss of abs function creates an obvious safety hazard. When the sensor fails, the check engine light, abs light, and brake warning light all come on - intermittently initially, but soon lit at all times. The failures occurred in 2014, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2017, and 2020.

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. While driving approximately 20 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle rolled to a stop. The vehicle was driven to a mechanic where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v627000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
Air bag is broken steering is very hard to turn the computer system went out and 1s gear is having problems taking off. I fear for my life every time i drive my only car. Can you please help me with these recalls problems
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. The contact was driving 45 mph when the steering wheel started to vibrate along with the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The contact also stated that on one occasion, the trunk opened while driving 80 mph. The dealer found the lock actuator was not locking completely.the manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 300 and the current mileage was 8,000.updated 04/11/12 the consumer stated the gps system didn't allow her to put in 95% of the addresses. Sometimes, the gps gave the consumer the wrong directions. Also, the engine vibrated after sitting for a perid of time. Updated 05/11/12
The engine light would come on, but nothing would be wrong with the car at least i thought.
Vehicle drives to the right when steering wheel is positioned in the center position. Straight-line driving position is several degrees to the left. Pull to the right was amplified with speed; highway driving was very noticeable. Dealer performed an alignment at 1600 miles and found rear camber, rear toe, and front left toe out of spec. Immediately afterwards the problem remained. Took the vehicle back to the dealer at 2200 miles for another alignment. Vehicle still has slight pull to the right but the steering wheel remains off-center. Again, straight-line driving position is several degrees to the left.
I was driving on free way around 65-70 mph, suddenly the car lost control, veering, jerking, steering wheel lost control.
My son's bmw (2011 bmw 328i xdrive) spontaneously combusted on sep 4 2017 while he was driving back from work at 4 am on sunrise highway ny.luckily he noticed sparks and smoke and pulled over and got out. The car fully burnt within 30 minutes.
My license plate has 1 screw that fits into the metal made holes.it is suppose to have 2 screws that fit into the metal holes in the trunk.the plate itself has screws with no backs and are stripped.i don't want the license plate to rattle and fall off from faulty workmanship with license plate panel.also the front plate is completely different from the back license plate panel and these screws look stripped too.
Twice while driving the car, the driver's car door flew open.there was no indication the door was not latched, nor did any alarms sound.this occurred as i was turning into heavy traffic on a busy 4 lane highway in town, and accelerating to 50 mph. I took the car into my bmw dealership and they told me it was a faulty actuator that was not covered under warranty, incurring a cost to me of $622.00.i am appalled that this is not covered as a huge safety issue so feel this needs to be reported....
My moonroof spontaneously exploded today (around 5:40pm).i was driving open road (city, about 30-35mph) and there was no evidence of a rock or other foreign body other than glass in my cabin.the edges of the remaining glass of the moonroof tilted upwards.the noise and glass surprised me and i drifted into the median briefly before calming down/regaining control.
I bought this car from the dealership so i have to return the car because all this issues and now the car is for sale again at the dealership
Accident happened in los angeles.i was heading east on 3rd street ( main road) 2 lanes, i was on the right lane. Opposite side also has 2 lanes going west.westmoreland is an intersection on 3rd street and has the stop sign. The vechile crossed 3 lanes of traffic and hit my car on the drive side rear wheel and quarter panel. At the time of impact, the momentum had me going almost sideways onto oncoming traffic. And my biggest concern was,the 2 passenger side doors flung open. Everyone had their seatbelts on. My wif'e's shoulder bag which was tucked on the floor on the front passenger ended up in the middle of the road on 3rd westmoreland.the car was disable and can't be driven because the rear wheel was bent.i have reported it to my insurance company and told the bmw authorized repair shop. I am not sure if the doors where designed to open during a collision but inquiries to bmw customer relations and dealership has gotten nowhere. I am concerned that when the car is fixed, i maybe driving a car that has a safety defect.
Driving on 35e going south to exit 94 east on the far left lane and i hit a large pothole that popped the front passenger tire. There was a truck with a flat tire on thefar left lane during this time due to same pothole.
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, while making a left turn, the turn signal failed to illuminate. The tire pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failures. The vehicle was then taken to the local dealer - bmw of palm springs (3737 east palm canyon dr, palm springs, ca 92264, (760) 699-2500) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacture was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 131,782.
Was sitting in a restaurant parking lot waiting for a take out order and i heard a big boom like something big hit my car.no one around. Scared me to death, scared to get out of my car, left area and started to drive home on the open highway and heard another big boom! opened the sunroof and saw that it had a huge whole and shattered!

My car is below 70k miles never over heated or had any issues but out of nowhere my trunk started unlocking on its on, killing my battery. My radio stopped working and i've been hearing noises from my door speakers. & now today my car will not start at all & if it does it turns off immediately.
Two recalls from oct 2017 have not been remedied yet
Blower motor recall and pcv valve recall.hello, i got a recall notification in the e-mail for the pcv valve and the blower motor.i had already taken my car into bmw previously to have my vehicle worked on by bmw and carmax for problems on these parts and relating parts because they were not working properly.i was wondering if you could please take a deeper dive into my issue.bmw has said they will only reimburse about $250 when i paid much more than that before for the parts directly affected and indirectly affected by faulty parts. I look forward to hearing back from you and appreciate all the help.
Vehicle has 70,000 miles and the timing chain broke. It is my understanding timing chains last for more than 200,000 miles.

I have been to the dealership several timessince this recall and the problem is still not fixed. It's been over a year i've been on a waiting list and we are trying to sale the car and can't because of the recall! this isridiculous.we need the parts ordered and dealt with it's been over a year .

There is an issue with the hvac system on my carevery one i know who owns the bmw e90 series has the same issue the evaporator leaks toxic gas every bmw of this era has the same issue when you turn the ac there is a moldy gasy smell people who own these cars breath toxic chemicals every time they drive these cars to fix the issue you have to remove the whole dash to get to the leaky evaporator and replace it which costs $3000 the part itself is only $300 and the rest is labor , another issue is with the steering column shaft. My car as of november 16 2020 has only 51k miles
The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. The contact noticed a constant chemical odor inside the vehicle. The dealer cleaned the vehicle and stated that the odor originated from an unknown source inside the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000.

I drove from my garage to the highway (about 5 minutes) i entered the highway and gained speed up to about 55 mph, i was on the highway for about one or two minutes when i heard a loud explosion and the sunroof in my car had blown out. There was not traffic in my local highway since it was about 1:30pm cst.the sliding cover in the sunroof was open to let light in and i was showered with broken glass, i pulled over and exited the highway, stopped looked at the damage and it looks like if the sunroof had explode out, like caused by inside pressure blowing it out.i was lucky no else was with me or the highway had more traffic or i could have had a serious accident.i contacted bmw but they deny that there are any defects with the sunroof, they say it was most likely a rock. There are no object inside my car and rocks travel sideways not come from the top.please, please have this investigated, besides the cost is the higher chance of a serious accident.

Smell coming from the front of car. It's strong at times and then goes away. A little smoke in front near good then goes away.
Can not open driver door from inside or out. Can not get out of my car. Had to crawl of passenger side door.this is not an essay task to do.
I bought a used 2011 bmw 328i from a used dealership. I drove it home the first day started to overheat. I checked the carfax on the car & it has 2 recalls.is it illegal for a dealer to sell me a car knowing it has a 2 safety recalls?
When driving at a low speed of 10 mph or lower and decelerating (applying the brake, coming to a stop sign or red light or pulling into a parking space) or at a stationary position - the vehicle is surging forward unexpectedly. Engine is not stalling but often feels like it could after surging forward.surges forward even when the break is applied.this has happend a number of times.taken to bmw dealerships and they report nothing wrong (no safety recall) but it continues to occur.fear factor of getting into an accident due this is escalating.have asked friends to drive our vehicle and they verify and validate it occurs for them as well under the same cirmcumstances.
As i was moving my car from a small parking lot near my home, i was reversing the car and noticed there was a sudden acceleration and the car hit the base of the pole causing minor damage to my rear bumper. Since i felt the impact, i was very cautious and put the car in drive mode to exit the parking lot with very little gas applied, but the car took off suddenly and hit a parked car with a huge impact. It almost totaled the other car and my car was very badly damaged. Initial estimate to repair is around $7,911 by the bmw authorized body shop. I immediately took the car to the dealer next day asking them to check ifmy car was safe to drive. The dealership said the car has to be inspected by the bmw engineer, and the dealer can't touch the car because of sudden acceleration issue. I called the bmw customer relationship dept. Right away, and they scheduled an engineerto come and look at my car. One week later, a bmw engineer came to the body shop and downloaded the data, andtoday i was notified by bmw that the car is safe to drive. I bought this car from a local bmw dealer as certified pre-owned vehicle last year with about 23k miles on it and still has the warranty.i am writing to you because my family doesn't feel comfortable and safe to drive this car. I have seen several complaints on bimmerfest and one on your site for the 2011 bmw 328i, regarding the sudden acceleration. I asked them bmw to replace the car, which they wouldn't do. I requested bmw to send a letter stating that the car is safe to drive along with a report about their findings, since they didn't want to replace my car. Not sure if they will send me one.as a good citizen with good driving record, i am really scared about driving this car which in my opinion is not safe.i am hoping that your department will investigate this matter carefully, and get a better resolution to my issue. Thank you.

Throttle response to pressing accelerator lags dangerously. Have had numerous instances where lack of response has placed me in dangerous situations. Sometimes it takes a few seconds before there is adequate response so car does not move or accelerates very slowly even though accelerator pressed down all the way. Almost got rear-ended last night as i pulled out of a driveway onto a road and oncoming cars nearly rear-ended my car because my 2011 bmw 328i would not respond appropriately to my pressing down on the accelerator pedal; the car barely accelerated and even slowed further for a few seconds before the throttle responded and began picking up speed. This is very dangerous. I had this car in for service at the bmw earlier yesterday and they service advisor told me that this is a common problem for these cars, but they don't have a fix for it.

While driving down a straight road at 50 mph, a very loud pop was heard almost like an explosion. I pulled to the side of the road and noticed the entire sunroof had shattered. It was a clear day with temps in the 70's. No other vehicles were in the vicinity at time of event. No road debri was noted on roadway. The glass appeared to be pushed out like it was caused by a pressure difference. At the time of event, all the windows were up with the a/c on. Pieces of the glass had flown back and scratched the paint down to metal on both the roof and trunk-lid. I had my two small kids in the back seat at the time and they were both terrified after hearing the noise. Luckily the shade cover was in place and no glass entered the passenger space. Bmw is not willing to investigate the incident or cover the cost.

Driving on 35e going south to exit 94 east on the far left lane and i hit a large pothole that popped the front passenger tire. There was a truck with a flat tire on thefar left lane during this time due to same pothole.
Vibration starting from 60mph, rumbling, droning noise and vibration could felt throughout the cabin.spent 4 or time times roadforced rebalancing tires, two sets of oe continental ssr tires and repairing wheels but no change with the unpleasant and annoying vibration.could be a defects with the driveline/driveshaft?i wanted to replace the u-joint but it is non serviceable driveshaft.requesting bmw to look into this issue as others bmw models having recall on defective driveshaft.car has just 80k miles.
