Seat sensor occupancy mat malfunction: why is bmw not voluntarily recalling or extending this widespread known issue bmws? this seems to be a common problem across many models of bmws, forums are filled with so many complaints. After market manufacturers have created modules to bypass this sensor, which apparently is going to cause hazardous condition for some of the owners. There's a constant display on the dashboard that says, "pass-restraint system malfunction". Apparently it's quite a common issue across many bmws and unfortunately bmw has not acknowledged it for all models and have done the recall for limited model between 2006 and 2007, 2008 was later added but my car was actually manufactured in 2009 so i believe this recall needs to be extended beyond 2008. You've mandated a recall for these parts however the dealers are refusing to fix them by giving the customer the run-around stating the parts are not in stock and that they cannot get the part for months.on the contrary, the parent company bmw usa tells me directly that the parts are fully available and should only take 1-2 weeks to arrive when not in stock.people will die because the dealers are not taking on the responsibility mandated by the recall. I have all bmw dealers within 100 miles of my residence and they are reporting the same brush off.

Passenger seat throwing a code that says "passenger restraint system malfunction"

Six months after the recall was announced advising me of the potential for serious death or injury as a result of airbag inflator rupturing. I have received no additional notification, and feel that 6 months is in excess of a reasonable amount of time.

Takata recall on december 25, 2015 at approximately 5:20 a.m. My 2010 328i bmw skidded off hwy 99 southbound going towards lax. Vehicle skidded as caused by the black ice on road, resulting in us crashing into the left guard rail. My mother and i felt the entire impact of vehicle . I, as the driver, hit my head on the driver side window causing severe whiplash and a sprained neck. I had to crawl out of the vehicle because i was trapped inside, due to impact of crash being on the left side of vehicle. Once chp arrived, my car was towed off the hwy. The bmw's airbags did not deploy at the time of impact causing me severe neck and head injuries. I was traveling 65 mph, no higher than speed limit. Want to know why airbags did not deploy and if my neck and head injuries could have been avoided . I have hospital documents if necessary.

Takata recall by bmwnotification. That drivers airbag could explode in thew event of a crash. Letter dated march 2016, but up to today's date february 13, 2017 still no parts . Vehicle remains unrepaired .

While bmw has issued a recall for the parts, they seem to be playing games with me and not getting any work done regarding the part in question needed for the airbags.i was told by my local bmw south motors that the part needed to be ordered from bmw north america.then i found out the part had to come in from germany, which for a recall of such grandeur, i find strange the part has to be imported.anyway, it has been close to 3 months that i am in this ordeal with no solution done and nothing done to my airbags, thereby risking my safety all because bmw north america does not want to disclose any details of their doings.they told me the part was sent, but south motors hasn't received the part.while i believe south motors, i do not believe bmw n.a is being honest.they refused to disclose any details such as tracking information or anything relevant to this investigation.they also have refused to cooperate with south motors or myself to get the problem resolved.they have not acknowledged the product may have been lost in transit for all we know...because they refuse to disclose any information.my life and safety are on the line each time i get into my car and if bmw is going to play cat and mouse with consumers the way it's doing then i think they need to be chastised for this.since they will not listen to me and have refused to help me out in any way, i am forced to turn to this agency for help.i look forward to getting answers, an admission of fault and apology from bmw, as well as most importantly, the correct part, brand new, sent to south motors bmw, to be promptly replaced so that my airbags are in working order and safe for myself and fellow motorists.thank you for your attention on this matter.

Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain 2009 328i and 328xi, 2009-2011 335d, 2008-2012 m3 coupe and m3 convertible, and 2008-2011 m3 sedan vehicles. The connection of the positive battery cable at the fuse box terminal may degrade, resulting in an intermittent loss of electrical power.consequence: a loss of electrical power can cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Some of the bmw footwell module for the e7x to e9x models containing a defective microchip that upon jump-start of the vehicle when the battery level is low would corrupt its memory. When corruption occurs, the car will disable turning signal blinkers, power windows, internal lights, and more. Those affected function will render the vehicle unsafe to drive. Bmw has issued an extended warranty to cover the part, but only for owners who run into the problem (ie: jump-started) within that time frame is covered. I did not realize this infamous defect until recently and bmw failed to inform me of this issue proactively. I'm the original owner. After i read hundreds of articles online, this is a part that warrants a broder recall.

Recall campaign no 17v-683: pcv valve heater and 17v-676: blower motor wiring.the new recall bmw call stalling while driving. Car shuts off. I took my bmw to south motors bmw was due to the 3 recalls cause by the manufactures defect. The last recall was risk of engine completely stalling(stopping) while driving which happen to me while driving on a city street with children in the car. We met with a bmw service advisor and he said that south motors bmw service more than 100 bmw since last year and they are only fixing the bmw's as a courtesy. He than stated he had to order a couple of parts for the recall, to give him a couple of days. He called the very next day and said the parts were in and advise that he have to charge a fee because his technician have to get paid. He gave us a price of more than $3,000 and said this is nothing, we charge the last customer for her bmw $12,000 we are giving you a good price. It gets worse they kept my bmw for another 5 days, smash the front of my bmw. The manager stated he is not sure who smash the front of my bmw, he said about 7 workers weredriving my car while it was being service for the recalls. I was in tears, he looked at me and said it's just a car.

I have been notified by bmw of blower motor wiring recall in oct. 2017, and have yet to hear from bmw about any further process in addressing their problem.are they really required to do anything about fixing their problem, other thansending out a notice?

My bmws battery compartment in the trunk was flooded with water.this caused shorting of the battery.the car stalled and became suddenly inoperable.even the trunk could not be accessed for a long time as all the battery connections were lost.the bmw service technician who worked on the car said that this could have led to a serious battery explosion.fortunately, the stalling happened in my drive way, but it could have happened while driving on the road also.the car was serviced as per bmw's recommendation.but still the flooding in the battery compartment was never found. It's a serious risk for any driver.any battery explosion or stalling can lead to sudden loss of control and can also be fatal.this seems to be a problem with many bmw owners, but bmw has failed to recognize this as an issue.please refer to the following forum where other owners have also complained (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=666420).i have attached the bmw service person's report and fix to the issue. I am hoping bmw fixes this issue immediately so that no other driver faces the risk of battery explosion while driving.thank you for looking into this.

There's been a recall on the parts that control the flow or speed of the ac unit in the car, also the airflow. There's several other recalls on this car. A notice was originally sent out to me in november of 2017. It's now august of 2018 and another notice has not been sent out. I've reached out to bmw on this issue was simply told that if smoke or a fire starts in my car, to pull over and dial 911. The fact i can't use my ac in arizona is out of control, it's extremely hot here. Earlier in the year it was okay since it was cooler but now temps are reaching over 110 degrees. I did find the part but also asked for a reimbursement if i were to purchase it and was told i'd still have to wait for a second letter. Why should i need to wait for a second letter for something there's a recall on? especially something that can put myself or child in damage or other people.

When tire pressure management system begins to fail, its rdc module takes down the complete dashboard monitoring and operational systems.upon failure, the rdc affects speedometer, tachometer, radio, blower, wipers, idrive systems.driver has no indicators of turn signals or lighting (even if functional) within the cabin of the car. This occurred in driving sequence as first a series of flashes and idrive restarts, then complete blanking out of all dashboard systems.upon advisement of repair tech, simple unplug of rdc clears all dashboard symptoms except tpms malfunction indicator.a car should not simply have a complete electronic monitoring and operational (radio, blower, turn indicators, wipers) failure due to one monitoring system going down -- this is a design flaw and could have led to me having an accident easily due to no turn or speed indicators available.

This car has had 2 open recalls since october 2017:nhtsa recall number 17v676 and nhtsa recall number 17v683.both of these recalls involve the possibility of short-circuiting wires, melting and possibility of fire.i can't believe that bmw hasn't come up with a solution for these issues in 6 months.

In november 2017, i received 2 recall notices from bwm (17v-683 and 17v-676).as of last week, they are still saying that no remedy for these defects are available.after almost 1 complete year, that is absolutely ridiculous!these are safety hazards and should have been solved long ago!

This vehicle was subject to two recalls pertaining to the blower motor wiring and pcv valve heater. The vehicle started to smoke and was taken to the dealer on january 8, 2018. The actual notice of recall was sent out to owners, prior to that. It is now april 12, 2018 and i have heard nothing regarding the repairs to this problems. The dealer to which i took the vehicle said, only "we have no idea - it could be months". This is unacceptable, and i am wondering what my remedies might be. I now have an inoperable vehicle, utilizing a parking space that i pay for and, although bmw is paying for a rental car, it is not a bmw. Thank you for your assistance.

I was slowing to a stop in rush hour traffic, went to brake and the engine revved up to 300 rpms and lurched forward, almost hitting the car in front of me. Traffic was crawling so i was only goingabout 20 mph before i was about to make a complete stop.

Received 2 safety recall notices in early december 2017 (1) pcv valve heater & (2) blower motor wiring.car has been shut down since remedy is not available.contacted bmw today january 9th, 2018 and was not given an estimated time on when remedy will be available.it has been over a month.whenever i start the car, smoke comes out of engine (smells like plastic burning).

Give us all a break. Cal them and tell them to get it in gear as the recall clearly states the cars my go on fire.they are working us all over. You need to call their executive team and tell them it needs to be done asap. Please take some action on this irresponsible car company.at least call them!!!

Oil leave valve cover mileage at 50,000 miles. Valve cover leaking oil which is running down on motor and could start a fire

I was slowing to a stop in rush hour traffic, went to brake and the engine revved up to 300 rpms and lurched forward, almost hitting the car in front of me. Traffic was crawling so i was only goingabout 20 mph before i was about to make a complete stop.

Over the course of three days, while driving my 2010 bmw 328i on a highway at a rate of speed of 65-70 mph, the motor stalled, shut off, died, lost power causing me to have to get to the breakdown lane by forward momentum alone. Very dangerous because the other cars on the road have no idea that my car has no power. After sitting for approximately 15 minutes, i tried starting the car and it started right up and i was able to drive it as though nothing was wrong with it. I called my bmw dealer and am bringing it there tomorrow. He said that the repairs may be covered and that they would know better after looking at the fuel pump because there may be an issue with it. The car only has died while traveling on an interstate highway at a higher rate of speed. Extremely dangerous.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 bmw 328i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling) and 17v676000 (electrical system). The part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair pertaining to the interim notice. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted to determine when the part would be supplied to the dealer. The contact noticed a strong odor and smoke coming from the vents when the electric control was used. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

While driving my vehicle from work, i was at a red light when my vehicle started making a rattling noise and cut off. It wasn't in motion at this point and it wouldn't start after cutting off. I had it towed to a mechanic shop to have it checked out. Their report was determined that it was the timing chain, so i had i towed to the nearest bmw dealership (tom bush bmw on atlantic blvd),where they currently have it. Right now, just to open the engine to see the extent of the damage is a $700 labor diagnostic test, which is rather pricey!!!. I saw that there is a recall on some of their other bmw vehicles concerning the timing chain and i would like to know if the 3 series is a part of that recall?? my vehicle is only 5 years old and shouldn't be having problems with the timing chain. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I started my car and begin pulling out of my parking spot. When i shifted from reverse to drive and pulled my foot off the brake to push the accelerator, the engine reduced power significantly, stalled, and the car died on me within a few seconds. There were several messages that appeared once the engine had died including "engine malfunction", "service engine soon" and "dsc - reduced drivability". The latter stated that it was still safe to drive the car though caution should be used. However, when i tried re-starting the engine, it would crank and sounded like it was trying to start, but would not actually start. Fortunately i was able to get a few people in the area to push me safely out of the active traffic lane i was stalled in into a parking spot. The car was towed to the nearest bmw dealership where cause of issue is still being diagnosed; so i still do not know root cause for this malfunction. Luckily i was in a parking lot when this happened, however, the thought that the engine could just stop and die on me at any point, such as when driving at 60+ mph on the freeway, is rather terrifying. Further, given the low miles and years on the car, running into such a serious issue is rather unsettling.

While driving to work on the interstate my car began to hesitate and would not accelerate. The following day the check engine light came on and the problems with hesitation became worse and the car would not go over 50 miles per hour on the highway and would almost stall when i came to a stop. Took car in for service and they stated that there was a failining ignition coil in cylinder #3 which was replaced. On 11/28 the car starting doing the same thing. I had to take it to a different dealership that was closer to my work because the car would not accelerate on the highway and i felt very unsafe. At this time the car has 53440 miles on it. Right out of warranty! i called both dealerships and come to find out this is a known issue with this model bmw. I was charged $681.06 for a known issue and this being the 2nd time my car has had this issue. This time the failure was in cyliders 2 and 6! and was told to pay to replace all as they will continue to fail! i contacted the dealership bmw of towson and never received a return call. I should not have been charged for this service as bmw of catonsville would have done the replacement for free as this is a known issue with this car. I couldnt drive all the way to bmw of catonsville because my car would now accelerate on the highway. I am continuing to look for a refund of $681.06 as i should not have been charged for something that bmw should have recalled.

Today while driving with my family to the airport on the highway my 2010 bmw 328i suddenly shut off. I didn't realize the engine had died so i kept going until the car gotdangerously slow. Then i had to pull over 4 lane to the right and miraculously without any incident. I tried restarting but it wouldn't and i had to get it towed to the dealer. This was a dangerous situaltion and i am worried about giving this car back to my wife who is the primary driver. I purchased this car for safety reasons and that confidence is badly damaged.

I was traveling on the pa turnpike near the quakertown exit at 75 mph in the left hand lane when my car shut down and came to a stop in active traffic. As the car was shutting down i had difficulty steering but was able to brake.there were no visible error codes or lights to indicate issue. When attempting to restart the car, the engine would roll but i was unable to move.i called 911 for assistance.i was fortunate that a state farm highway worker stopped to protect me from high speed traffic coming up behind me until i could be safely moved off of the road.the car was towed to west german bmw in fort washington, pa.cost for the above service was paid for by bmw under a "warranty extension" as this is a "known issue."i was unaware of this issue as no recall or service notices have been sent by bmw to inspect or repair failing fuel lines.i am filing this complaint because the issues foundin my car are exceptionally serious and could have resulted in a major high speed accident.furthermore these repairs will appear on my carfax and will position my car to other buyers as one with major issues.during inspection and repair process several issue were noted.1. No faults were stored in the vehicle.2. Upon checking the fuel pressure, none was found @ rail3. Upon removing the fuel tan cover they discovered that a hose popped off inside the tank4. After reattaching, they were able to restart the car, only to have the hose come off again the next day as it was going through the courtesy car wash5. After opening the car again, they found that the fuel line that was clamped on "line a" ruptured, full fuel tank and assembly replacement was necessary.

The recalls were posted in oct 2017.... What is taking them so long to get parts available?are they waiting for someone to get hurt?

The driver side tail light is malfunctioning where not all the leds illuminate when braking or using the turn signal. The turning signal also operates very rapidly. I was informed that this was not covered under my extended warranty so i called bmw n.a. Who offered no assistance at all. This is a critical safety component of the car that is known to be defective, its cost is expensive and should last longer than three years. Since it is an led type light, the entire light assembly needs to be replaced as there are no standard bulbs that can be replace by the owner.

Rear right turn signal mulfunction turned on for a few min. Signal also started blinking extreamly fast. Head light malfunction alarm turned on for a few min.head lights wouldn't turn with stearing wheel. Pasanger restraint malfunction alarm turned on when car was started. After driving 20 miles and turning the car off it cleared.

Driving car on freeway, traffic slowed down and engine stopped without any prior warning. Car would not restart. Possible engine failure. Car has about 70,000 miles. Possible recall # is 14v176000.

Rear right turn signal mulfunction turned on for a few min. Signal also started blinking extreamly fast. Head light malfunction alarm turned on for a few min.head lights wouldn't turn with stearing wheel. Pasanger restraint malfunction alarm turned on when car was started. The contact owns a 2010 bmw 328i. When the ignition was started, the air bag and seat belt warning indicators remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanicwhere it was diagnosed that the passenger seat sensor failure occurred. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 89,500.

The passenger restraint system is malfunctioning, which may affect the airbag.it does not recognize that the passenger has their seat belt on.red lights are flashing and it states that the passenger restraint system is malfunctioning.i feel that the manufacturer should provide repapirs for a safety system at no charge.not sure if it is a bad sensor or what.this happens when the car is turned on and a passenger is seated with their seat belt on.date below is approximate.i have not taken it into a bmw dealership yet because over the phone, they said it may cost about $1,400 to fix.

Vehicle equipped with key activated memory seats. Was using same key fob as always when driver seat began to move by itself into various positions, all while at turnpike speed.when it finally stopped, seat was returned to prior position by depressing memory button, but began to move again on its own shortly afterwards. This issue has continued now for several weeks even just driving around town. There are no open recalls or service bulletins, but is a known issue if you go to the online forums. This problem presents a clear and present danger and needs to be addressed immediately!

(incident #1) i began having issues with my 2010 328i replacement vehicle (initially purchased 2009, because of water leakage bmw replaced 2009 with current 2010) hardtop, initially reporting slippage outside of the hardtop of rubber trim hanging out of the convertible top (seals) at approx 17k miles early may 2012.according to the invoice, the technician stated that the " hardtop roof seals were defective.seals were removed and replacedat approx 18k miles after a two week wait to receive replacement parts ordered from the only supplier in germany".(incident #2)a year later, may 2013, once again i began to experience defective parts after hearing the hinge on the right (passenger) rear of my vehicle making a grinding noise, grating against the glass as the convertible collapsed into the trunk compartment of my vehicle.this was a noise that sounded as if the roof of the vehicle, upon closing was truncating and collapsing within itself.fearing that the roof would collapse on me, i exited the vehicle and closed it until receiving service. Extremely frustrated that i had accepted another faulty bmw, and uncertain how to rationalize why the defacto expectation would be that the "convertible" feature would be the "safest feature on the vehicle, and knowing that the "convertible" option was the main reason for purchasing the vehicle may soon be my most expensive? reason for wishing i would have chosen another manufacturer other than bmw based on my 2009 experience. I have been continuously haunted, anxious, worried, unable to sleep because of the recent breakdowns with regard to the "safety/integrity" of the rooftop of my 2010 replacement vehicle.in the interest of safeguarding the public, shouldn't all convertibles have the option of a "special warranty" to the consumer to ensure the integrity of the vehicle?

Tried to purchase replacement tires from my local costco.front and rear are different sizes.selected bridgestone potenza tires for rear.first set sent had expired dot dates.second set sent had expired dot dates.bridgestone is clearly trying to pass-off expired tires to consumers.fortunately, my dealer caught the problem.bridgestone was unable to provide an explanation or providesafe tires.

It keeps burning oil and i'm going through coil packs like crazy and it also stalls out the smokes like crazy

I started overheating and loosing alot a power

This car has had 2 open recalls since october 2017:nhtsa recall number 17v676 and nhtsa recall number 17v683.both of these recalls involve the possibility of short-circuiting wires, melting and possibility of fire.i can't believe that bmw hasn't come up with a solution for these issues in 6 months.

I was entering the highway at 65mph, there were no cars in front or behind me and no bridges above me, once i got to around 70mph my sunroof exploded outwards with extreme force for no reason, i could not find a rock or gravel and i do not believe glass will shatter outwards when broken from the outside.
