Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact's vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v071000 (air bags) but the parts had not been available since 2016. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was informed that there was a waiting list for the parts to become available. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and stated that the vehicle would be repaired in march of 2017. I've read there's a recall on 3 sorties but not all via have been added yet.my vin [xxx]i'm having the seatbelt restraint error out of nowhere and my car won't start. Only 81000 miles . Been riding my bike to work please help me out here.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Since i got this car my oil was leaking. I had to replace the val cover.i can't remember how much that cost me.my steering lock module was replaced and it cost me 1,181.07. I had my belt tensioner replaced because it was bent.it cost me $327.04. This was done 3/6/2015.a recall on srs air bag. I still have the air bag warning light.bmw recommended to replace of exhaust lifters and roller drag levers with updated unit to eliminate ticking noise at idle which will cost me 1,466.40. I need to replace alternator, belt, battery and the car won't start. I fixed the battery problem and as i was driving to work and parked the car would not start.my battery connection need to be replace. Common issue with all bmw. I will spend about 1,518.7 to fix the problem.

My vehicles passenger airbagis deactivated and my passenger seat belt warning light as well as the red airbag malfunction light stay on no matter what even when someone is sitting in the seat and whether the car is mobile or stationary, i was told it's due to the passenger occupancy sensor that has deteriorated over time ,i also have read that recalls were made for the issue but not for the coupe for some reason ,which i dont get my car has the standard seats in it and is made with the same exact part that was recalled on other models why is my car excluded when the sedan and wagon of the same year were included?

Passenger air bag sensor in the seat mat is defective causing the air bag to not read correctly the passenger weight and possibly deploying with a child in the seat.the light remains on at all times.there are recalls out for other bmw autos for this same reason 17v-428 - this model and year wasn't included in the recall list but is also carrying a defective part.

Warning light came on so we took the care to a technician who found the following fault code: "-93c3 seat occupancy detector, passenger, currently present, 95x0". This failure seems to be extremely common with this vehicle.when i contacted bmw customer relations, they stated: "thank you for contacting bmw of north america, llc regarding our amended voluntary recall announcement for the front passenger air bag seat occupancy sensor mat for certain 2006-2007 models depending upon seat type.included 3 series are 2006-2007 3 series sedans with sports seats that were produced between december 2005 ' september 2006. Recalls are specific to a vehicle's identification number (vin) based on the above criteria, and <my vin> does not have this recall.i suggest continuing to work with the service team at your authorized bmw center to review any concerns you may have with your vehicle."can you please investigate this and consider more vehicles for this recall?also, please let me know if i have any recourse for reimbursement if i go ahead and have the vehicle repaired at my own cost.thank you!

The contact owned a 2007 bmw 328i. After exiting the highway to make a right turn, there was a delay with the engine. The accelerator pedal was slow to respond and the vehicle suddenly independently surged forward at a high rate of speed and crashed into a pole. The vehicle veered to the right as the failure progressed. The contact noticed that the vehicle was still running at 22 mph. The contact had to turn the vehicle off, remove the key, and exit the vehicle due to the failure. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained pain to the right shoulder and two rear passengers sustained minor whiplash. Everyone required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop by the insurance company who was not able to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. Bmw recall dated 11/12/2013, nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000. Recall up to 76,565 units for failures of front seat occupant protection mat. Air bag will not deploy in the event of an accident. Contacted bmw and told my vin does not fall into bmw range but i've been experiencing the exact failure since purchasing the vehicle used in 10/2013. Bmw has likely not identified the true vin range of vehicles impacted by defective occupancy mats and refuses to pay for replacement.

When i was driving and at the stop light, when i was about to go and the air bags came on and the sound ding, ding, ding, and the air bags light came on the dash? when i take it to my local shop and let them run ob2 scanner and it came up on the ob2 scanner it was the passenger side air bags mat sensor.

I have a 2007 bmw 328i and while driving down the interstate my air bag and restraint lights came on. I know there are recalls on them but when i add my vin it is not one of them. I am a little worried that if i were to get into a accident the airbags will not deploy.

Takata recalldealership will not perform recall, gives misleading information, and contradicts information from bmw usa. Advantage bmw (mid-town)2101 san jacinto st houston, txi originally contacted the dealership in march 2016 regarding the takata airbag recall and was told that no parts/fix was available and i would be contacted shortly when my car could be scheduled for an appointment. I followed up with them on may 18th after their were multiple deaths in the region reported as a result of this issue. Since then i've contacted advantage on 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, and multiple times in aug/sep. Each time i would be "added to the list for the service manager" though each time they can't find my name on the list. I finally contacted bmw usa about the problems i was having and was contacted by them. They told me they could provide interim parts but that this would close out the recall and i would be unable for the final repair. I told them this wasn't acceptable and they told me to request a loaner vehicle from advantage bmw. I did this and it took a week for the service director to get back to me and told me that parts were available to complete the recall. I asked if these were final or interim and they said they would contact bmw usa to find out. After not hearing back from them, i contacted bmw usa to confirm they were interim, which they were. When i told this to advantage bmw they told me to come in for a rental car. I came in, wasting a day of my time, was forced to fill out all of the paperwork and then at the last minute was refused a rental vehicle because they said i was forced to use the interim parts.as a mechanical engineer who worked for years in the auto industry i really don't feel safe driving my family around in a bmw. After the recent deaths i'm very concerned by the lack of action and the run-around i am being given.

The contact owned a 2007 bmw 328i. While driving approximately 35 mph, another vehicle crashed into the driver side door of the contact's vehicle. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a pole. The air bags did not deploy. There was a police report filed. The contact sustained injuries to the right hand and back, and the whole right side of his body. Medical attention was required. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an impound lot. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

My car's airbag warning light began to illuminate intermittently over the summer indicating the passenger airbag was disabled, even when someone was sitting in the seat with their seat belt fastened.after awhile, the airbag warning light was on consistently, as well as the seat belt light. The car now has the passenger airbag permanently disabled. This car is unsafe for a front passenger as there is no way to enable the airbag manually. I was informed by bmw that there was a recall regarding the same year and model (2007 328i) for this exact problem, however my car does not qualify for either the recall, or the extended warranty as it is only models with a certain part number.

"takata recall...i received a letter from bmw i would say summer of 18 stating that they are extending my warranty on my passenger air airbag and a month before that my airbag light highlighted on my dashboard i took it to my local bmw dealer and they said there was nothing wrong i would need to pay for the diagnostic i don't believe i should have to i have a letter stating it's extended and the light is on i'm afraid it will go off i need to get a letter from bmw to cover this please consider recalling the airbag sooner

Takata recalli have brought my car into bmw service centers 3 times (bmw dealerships in fort worth, tx and houston, tx) since the takata airbag recall was announced.to date, i was never informed by anyone from those dealers or bmw that my car fell into the affected lot.through my own research, i have discovered my car is indeed part of the recall.this is not safe or satisfactory.when one takes their car to any certified repair facility, much less an actual bmw dealership service center, the assumption is that he or she will leave with a safe car and full understanding of any pending recalls.this was not the case for me.

The contact owned a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, she crashed into the rear of another vehicle that had their exterior lighting not functioning. Medical attention was required for the injuries sustained. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Air bag lights on

While i'm driving the seat light (srs) just came on the dash. When i take it to the dealer and get it scan, they said it the seat mat sensor is mess up and so i ask them is it in the recall and they told me it not on the recall. So that is [xxx] weird? and i was piss off and just left. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall: passenger side airbag defect. Message that comes on when engine first turned on and stationary, reads: "fault in passenger-restraint system affecting air bag, belt tension or belt force limiter. Continue to wear seat belt." however, this car not included in the recall when i check license number.

I unlocked the car and sat in the driver's seat. My wife sat in the front passenger seat. I inserted the keyfob and pushed the 'start' button. The car turned on and about 5 seconds later we heard a 'gong' sound. We looked at the screen and it was showing a red warning about the front passenger airbag being disabled. I powered off the car, waited a minute and powered it back on. Same error came up. So i powered off the car a second time, asked the wife to get out of the car and then back onto the front passenger seat, then i powered on the car. The error went away. We drove 15 minutes to dinner, ate and returned home without further incident. That night i setup an appointment with global imports bmw for 9/12/2012 to have them look at it. The dealer ran diagnostics and reported the following in regards to the front passenger seat issue:"87844 performed short test and found fault mrs-93c3. Performed test module and found the passenger seat mat to be defective. Customer declined the seat mat replacement."next to this i had the service manager write in the total repair cost, $1,345.70. I still have a copy of the paperwork with the details if needed. I declined the repair at the time because i felt the fact they found "...the seat mat to be defective" indicated a known issue. Fast forward to today 4/11/2014, nhtsa lists a "recall subject : front seat occupant protection mat" campaign number 13v564000. I called bmw usa's customer relations number and they told me my car had no recalls associated with it even though there's clearly an issue with the sensor mat. To this day i have yet to receive any recall letters from bmw nor nhtsa. The car still brings up this error when my wife sits in the front passenger seat. It's not safe and i should not have to pay for repairs if there's an active recall for this model year. Please help.

The airbag light is on in red.the airbag is on recall for the takata recall airbag.the steering wheel with a lock sign over it is illuminated in red. The car was stationary the light illuminated and the car would not start all systems were locked including the steering wheel.bmw stated it will cost you $100 to put it on lift and an additional $100 for the diagnostic. I ended paying $100 for the diagnostic.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. While driving approximately 60 mph, the contact observed that the air bag and seat belt warning indicators illuminated after hard braking. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags). The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. There was a recall for 2006 (i drive a 2007) models of this vehicle for the passenger seat occupancy sensor mat in the passenger seat. When this mat becomes defective, it disables airbag systems in the vehicles. This has been a known problem since 2008 (when the recall was issued), however these cars were produced from 2006-2008+ before the recall was issued. The recall only covers 2006 models which is absolutely ridiculous. If the same exact vehicle continues to be produced with the same defective part that have the same problem, but you only cover one year of it being produced when there were three, what good is that? why is it that i have to drive around in a car that has a known defective airbag system because of the defective detection mat and bet on my luck that i don't get in a serious accident and be caught with no air bags for safety. This is a serious lawsuit waiting to happen the minute someone gets in an accident and the airbags don't deploy due to the failed passenger seat sensor. I know you have complaints about this. Air bag lightmalfunctionpassengerside

Front passenger air bag light came on.not part of the recall?not the specific to the vin?bmw dealer said it the seat pan cushin? different part?is this not a safety issue?

I have done the most recent 3 recalls on my bmw, i noticed through kredit karma that it claims a fourth one for the detection mat on the passengers seat air bag system. I did mention this recall to bmw when i recently visited for the 3 most recent recalls, but they claimed it was not affected. The alert of the malfunction only shows when passenger is seated, it clears after turning off ignition, but once back in passenger seat, it malfunctions once again. I would just like some clarification on this if possible. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that the front seat occupant protection mat sensor failed and caused the air bag, seat belt, and passenger side disabled sensor lights to illuminate when operating the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 75,000.

My car is displaying "passenger restraint malfunction" error on my idrive dashboard. I searched and it seems there has been a recall but when i enter my vin number, the recall is not shown for my specific car.

This is an addition to our previous recall problems as all electrical shut off as well. Here are the additional documents to be added to public record that indeed 6 recalls were recorded to our registered vin and yet was told bmw had no obligation to adhere to these documents?! its also crazy that we have tons of documents and yet we are allowed to show a mbyte at a time. How convenient.

We were in the left lane about to take a curve to the left when a car in the right lane ran us off the road straight into a telephone pole. I was in the passenger seat and my airbag did not deploy, as the drivers side did. My head hit the dash and i broke my nose, my teeth, and suffered a major concussion.

Air bag and seat belt warning lights on dash remain lit at all times. Additionally, the "passenger airbag disabled" indicator remains lit at all times. There is a recall campaign for the passenger seat sensor mat issue which caused these problems, yet apparently not for my vin. The disabled passenger seat airbag is a major safety issue, and clearly my vin should be part of the recall.

Passenger restraint malfunction. Nhtsa campaign number 13v564000. My vehicle matches the criteria exactly. Sport seats. Yet bmw claims it is not applicable to vin. A simple internet search shows a flood of people having the exact same issue yet they are all being denied by bmw even though their vehicles fit the exact profile of the recall.

Got my recall notice in march 2016, it has been six months of driving with a potential life threatening issue and still have not been able to get the defective driver air bag replaced. Looking for an immediate solution. Thank you.

Takata recallupon receiving the initial letter informing me of my car having the takata recall earlier this year (2016), i have been waiting for bmw to inform me when the parts are available to fix the issue. It is now september, i have checked online with bmw usa and it stated that the remedy was available. After seeing online that the remedy was available for the open recall on my vehicle i contacted bmw customer relations via email requesting further information on this matter on how to resolve this issue. I did not hear anything back from them. So i contact the hotline and spoke with a lady named jessica on 9-20-16, she stated that the website was giving me wrong information, that in fact the parts to fix my car were not available and that it could take up to december of 2016 being the earliest it could be fixed, or well into 2017. The issue is that this is my only means of transportation, if i get into a small fender bender, i could potentially have my airbag deploy and cause serious harm or death upon me or a passenger. I was told the gulf states (high hummidty areas) would be among the first regions to have these vehicles fixed, i live in mobile, al. The relative humidity in my city typically ranges from 45% (comfortable) to 94% (very humid) over the course of the year, rarely dropping below 23% (dry) and reaching as high as 100% (very humid). On average it could be around 86% humidity by 6 am and 56% humidity by 3 pm. We have a warm humid temperature climate with very hot summers and no dry season... Why has my vehicle not been fixed yet with me residing in a largely known humid city? i was told by jessica with bmw that i would be put to the top of the priority list within their database for my vehicle to be fixed and that a case worker would follow up with me..i have not heard anything yet. This issue must be fixed asap before myself or someone gets hurt

Takata recall - recall issued february 2016. Called bmw of north america on september 14, 2016 to check status of recall and obtain resolution. Requested replacement parts be expedited and bmw agreed. Business was to call me to provide details on expected date bmw of san diego would receive parts. Never received a call. I called back 3 days later and left a message with no return call. On 10/24/16 i called bmw of na to obtain an update. Was told the case was still open and should have been expedited within 2 weeks of initial call. I requested an alternative mode of transportation and was told sometimes they can get authorization for a loaner car, so my case was escalated to a case manager. Received a call same day and was now told they ran out of parts and may get parts early 2017! alternative transportation would not be provided because the federal government does not require bmw to do so. The air bag may or may not fail, but research was done that failure is not likely. So try again next year. I'm receiving the run around with a different answer each time. I do not feel safe that the vehicle air bag may fail. Bmw is not taking responsibility for the recall or any "promises" they may or may not have done. I don't understand why other companies such as toyota and honda are concerned for their clients and provide alternate transportation to ensure safety. Their risky air bags are on the passenger side which at least gives you the option to drive alone. Bmw faulty air bags are on the driver side. I have 2 small children in the vehicle and am concerned for their safety and mine. I expect resolution and bmw has provided nothing but excuses and different stories each time. Highly disappointed with their customer service in handling this major recall.

Passenger restraint system malfunction. Passenger airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident due to faulty seat mat sensor. This could result in fatality to an adult passenger.not covered under nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000 because it does not included same model/year vehicles with sport seats.

Vehicle has 2 incomplete recalls, no accidents i am reporting that i was never contacted

Received original notice for recall. Called two different bmw dealers in georgia area. Both told me they would contact me once the part(s) came in. Followed up and waited over 6-8 months. Received another recall notice. Filed complaint

When a person is seated in the passenger seat, the seat belt and large airbag warning lights come onthe dash and stay on.once the passenger exits the car, the lights go off.i see there are recalls for the 2006 328i but not for the 2007.i am concerned that in the event of an accident, the air bag will not deploy.

I have an airbag deployment issue. Commonly defined as a 93a8 - code by bmw.this causes the drivers side airbag to get deactivated due to an issue with the triggering circuit from the airbag. This is a chronic bmw problem, with multiple reports from the consumer for the same issue. (i've attached forum reports)i have a car, that cannot be driven as the drivers side airbag is completely deactivated indicating a fault in the circuit.bmw is not taking responsibility and is indicating, i would have to bring the car in to pay for diagnostic fees and replacement of airbag module/harness & airbags.this is a big safety issue with a failing triggering circuit during general drive. Many consumers have reported on the same issue and this causes the airbag to not deploy during an accident

Takata recall. I received an important safety recall - final remedy available notice from bmw, recall campaign no. 16v-071. It states: we are pleased to inform you that we have the necessary parts to complete this recall. Please contact your authorized bmw center immediately to schedule an appointment to have this important free repair performed as soon as possible. So i called advantage bmw midtown in houston, tx, and all the lady could do is put my name on a call back list without a timeframe for a return call. When i complained that this was unacceptable, she put me in touch with a bmw customer relations rep.i explained to the lady at advantage bmw and bmw usa that the notice states: in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's air bag, excessive internal pressure could cause rupturing of the air bag inflator, resulting in metal fragments striking the driver or other passengers potentially resulting in serious injury or death. If you are not the only driver of this vechile, please advise all other drivers and passengers of this important information. All the bmw customer care rep could do is make sure that my name was on the call back list as well. I do not understand why bmw and it's authorized dealer can not schedule an appointment for the required repairs. Bmw's letter states that the parts are available and it is an important recall that if the air bag is deployed it can cause serious injury and/or death. What is going on with bmw and it's dealers?i do not understand why they do not take care of such an important recall immediately like the recall notice states. If bmw is the "ultimate driving machine"? why doesn't bmw fix the vehicle that can cause serious injury and/or death?this is unacceptable!

Takata recall.i received recall no. 16v-071 from bmw in march 2016.it has now been 13 months and bmw has not recalled the car and repaired the airbags.according to the nhtsa "takata recall expansion: what consumers need to know", since i live in zone a and the car is older than 2011 the recall should have occurred by now.i'm filing a complaint against bmw for not recalling and repairing my 2007 bmw 328i as it leaves me and my passengers at risk.

Bmw recall dated 11/12/2013, nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000. Recall up to 76,565 units for failures of front seat occupant protection mat. Air bag will not deploy in the event of an accident. Contacted bmw and was told my vin does not fall into bmw range but i've been experiencing the exact failure since yesterday when i was driving down my driveway at 3 -5 mph with no one in the passenger seat.i purchased the vehicle new 2007, currently has 83,000 miles on the vehicle. Bmw has likely not identified the true vin range of vehicles impacted by defective occupancy mats and refuses to pay for replacement and told me it was "customers cost"because my car was manufactured in dec., 2006 and the recall only went through cars manufactured up till sept. 30 2006 manufacture date.i think asked her if they put in a new part on the vehicles in december vs. September of 2006 and she said she didn't know.it would seem like a logical item to have in their customer service help tools instead of refusing to fix a critical safety defect in the vehicle. I said there are hundreds of people with the same problem posting it on the internet and bmw should take responsibility for what they manufactured which she really didn't care, i guess she doesn't care if my air bag deploys or not.i said to her you are going to have another class action suit after a few people die which she didn't really care.

The front passenger air bag seat occupancy sensor (oc3) mat has failed in my car. Bmw extended the warranty on the e90 sedan and e91 wagon version of the 2007 328i but not the e93 convertible (which i have) the seat components are identical on all 3 model versions of that year. Why is the safety of e93 passengers less important than the passengers in the e90 and e91 when they share the same sensor? repair cost is $1,200 for a sensor bmw knows will fail. I want the 2007 e93 to be included in the extended warrantysi b01 09 14

Takata recall i have contact the bmw center to fix the problem but they don't have the parts, its been more than 9 months.

Takata recall. After being notified by bmw that my car was being recalled for dangerous airbag deployments i have been terrified to drive my car or let my love ones ride as passengers. I have been denied use of my vehicle because of this very dangerous defect while waiting for the replacement airbags for years. Ideserve compensation from bmw and takata as do all other owners who purchased their vehicles in good faith and have waited patiently for this horrible situation to be rectified.

Passenger restraint system malfunction - warning error is on after multiples batteries have been replaced. Airbag is no longer working since this warning is on. The rear brake lights malfunction warming are on but still working/on. The right rear night light is not working but no warning error message. We changed the bulb but still not working...please help!!!

Every time i have a passenger the airbag light remains on. When there is a passenger sitting in the front passenger seat and then gets out of the car, the sensor thinks the person is still sitting in the seat and keeps reminding me to put on the passenger seat belt, plus the air bag light remains on. After 3 to 4 days, all the warning lights go off. But lately, the lights remain on for months. Is the problem related with the passenger seat occupancy sensor mat? isn't this suppose to be a delta government regulated issue? isn't it also dangerous? does this mean the air bag is deactivated? what if i get into an accident and i have a passenger?please help.

Same as this person passenger restraint malfunction.

Takata recall - notice from takata states both airbags are defective, yet bmw only replaced my driver side bags even though my car dash is warning that my passenger side airbag is defective and or has a problem.shouldn't both bags be replaced in recall.i'm a realtor and often carry passengers.

Driving a 2007 bmw 328i coupe (only 7,000 miles on thecar), i was involved in a severe front end collision...the car is not drivable and may even be totaled.none of my airbags deployed.

Person kneeled on passenger seat and the seat restraint warning light came on.this part is being replaced under warranty for some 2007 bmw's but not my vin.

I own a 2007 328i ,recently my car has been giving me an error message due to the front passenger air bag sensor.whenever, a passenger sits in the front it, a light turns on letting me know that the airbag is off.this means that in case of a serious car accident the airbag will not deploy and the passenger's life will be at risk.after the error message i did some research and found out that the issue is very common in the 3-series.bmw actually did a voluntary recall but it only involved 2006 3-series.however, i am experiencing the same issue that the recall was about.i took my car to bmw pacific in glendale and informed me that they would not be able to help me since my car was not part of the recall.here is the recall that bmw announced:"statement on voluntary recall involving front passenger seat sensor mat on u.s.a. Model bmws - august 13, 2008today, bmw announced a voluntary recall regarding the front passenger air bag seat sensor mat involving approximately 200,000 model year 2004-06 vehicles. Affected are certain model year 2006 3-series, model year 2004-06 5-series, and model year 2004-06 x3 vehicles, depending upon seat type. Bmw has found that the sensor mat may become damaged during vehicle usage depending upon the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit.link: http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/content/contactus/voluntaryrecall.aspxi don't understand why bmw only covered 06 models when 07 models are experiencing the same exact issue.i feel that this is very irresponsible and negligible on their part.i really hope that you can help me out with the issue that i am experiencing and include my car in the recall.i have a wife and daughter that ride with me and the last thing i want is for anyone to get seriously hurt over something that can be prevented by bmw.thank you.

The passenger side occupancy sensor is a known problem and i believe that the warranty extension has not covered all affected vehicles.my bmw 2007 328 convertible has the identical problem as identified below. I have repaired it and it has continued to malfunction numerous times since, while driving and while stopped, creating a safety issue for anyone in the passenger side should there be an accident.i believe this faulty part must have been used in my 2007 328 convertible. August 2008 -- bmw is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series (sport seat), my 2004-2006 5 series (standard and sport seat), and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. A fatigue failure of the front passenger seat occupant detection mat can occur. If this happens, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated. In this situation the front passenger air bags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system would not be possible. Bmw will also extend the warranty on these vehicles to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit. Owners may contact bmw at 1-800-525-7417. Bmw is extending the warranty to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit to the following vehicles: my 2006 6-series, 3-series (standard seat), my 2004-2005 z4, my 2004-2006 7-series, my 2006 x5, and my 2004-2006 5-series (comfort seat). Under the extended warranty program, the occupant detection mat in a vehicle that experiences this specific issue will be replaced at no charge to the customer. This recall was the subject of an engineering analysis, ea08-001, conducted by the office of defects investigation. 08v384.

Takata recallthe recall was issued feb 2016 and it is now may 2017 and bmw has yet resolved the issue with the recall. I live in sc and was one of the states concerted to be the gulf states. All i get from bmw is a run-around claiming they don't have parts. Is bmw dealing with the issue in a timely manner as i don't consider 14 months as to being timely. Even more so based off the mileage i put on my vehicle every week as i am not a standard commuter driving 10 miles to work.thank you. I am having the same problem that was reported in the nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000. However my vin is not included with the recall. How can i have my car added to the recall list. I do not think that it is fair that bmw will not fix this for free considering it was reported but i was just unlucky with having my vin included. The airbag light is on and as well as the yellow light on for the passenger side seatbelt. I purchased an airbag/srs . The code came up as 93c3. I tried to clear the code however it wouldnt clear and i believe that is due to the issue not being fixed. I checked all of the cables under the seat for the airbag mat. Please help me with this issue! thank you

Bmw ofmurietta will not honor the recalls

The airbag sensor on my 2007 bmw 328i is malfunctioning.it matches the exact description as the recall and other filed complaints.however, bmw insists that my vin is not covered by the recall.

Restraint system malfunction!passenger restraint system - fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter.this started happening 4-5 years ago when people would sit in the passenger seat.it used to come & go.it never goes off now.

Passenger seat sensor failed (code 93c3), disabling potential airbag deployment. Apparently this particular vin is not included in the current recall for this vehicle.please expand this recall. Bmw has refused to fix the problem under the recall, so we paid nearly $1,200 to replace the faulty oc3 mat.

There has been a recall on my vehicle model (2007 bmw 328i) for cracks developing in the "front passenger seat occupant detection mat". This causes the passenger side airbag to be deactivated during a crash (nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000). I called bmw and they say that my particular vehicle is not covered under this recall. I really do not understand why my particular vehicle is not covered when my exact model is covered under the recall and the issue with my car is exactly the same. I feel this is very unfair. Please help me out here. I fear the worst because now i am married and i have a passenger more often than before. I really cannot afford $1000 right now to fix an issue that should be covered by bmw.

I took the car into the shop for a battery change and upon picking up the car the front passenger seat belt warning light went on.i took it back to the shop and was told that it was con-incidental that it happened on that day and would cost over $1000 to fix.i got a second opinion and was told by dealership that the mat sensor is broke and may deploy in accident whether or not someone is sitting in the seat.i looked on the internet and saw that a recall was issued by you for models 2006 and earlier for the same issue.after speaking with bmw corporate, i was told to register a complaint with you that there is nothing they can do unless the nhtsa issues a recall.

Thank you.

Bmw328xigot huge impact on the driver seat. The door bent inside and move the seat 2-3 inch inside, but the side airbag did not deploy !!!and bmw has not got the replacement part yet (hornest fiber optic) for 3 months.

Fuse # 56 and #57 blew leading to the inability to open any doors using the fob. The emergency key only unlocks the driver door from the outside. The other doors cannot be opened unless the fuse is replaced. In an emergency situation, had the fuses been damaged for some reason, and there was a fire in the vehicle or some other reason necessitated an emergency egress, the front seat passenger and likely the rear seat passengers might not be able to exit the vehicle. There is no way to open the doors in a power failure. Bmw has no emergency door latch to bypass the electrical system as other cars do.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. While parked, the vehicle was not able to start and the key fob remained in the ignition. The contact mentioned shifting a red b.plus cable in order to start the vehicle. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not found. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v044000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was made aware of failure. The failure mileage was 143,000.

My door locks failed to unlock (with both the remote entry and the door lock switch located in the car) with the exception of the driver side door using the manual key turn. This was repaired by replacing the door lock actuators, under warranty.

Recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that the actuator failed on all four doors of the vehicle and none of the doors would open from the exterior or interior. The failure also prevented the door to the fuel tank from being opened. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the actuators were replaced.the failure mileage was 68,000 and the current mileage was 74,000.

A copy of an email to bmw:i have been reasonably happy with my 2007 328i until the electronic locks failed. I could not get in my car except with a key. I couldn't open any door except the driver's door even from the inside! if i hadan emergency both my passengers and i would have been trapped. When i looked online, i found that my problem was not at all uniquemany others have experienced the same issue with failing actuators. What troubles me is not the failure of a part (though i do expect better of bmw), but the fact that my family's safety was potentially compromised. More importantly, bmw has not addressed this issue with corrective parts and procedures so, i am told that if this happens again, i could still find myself trapped in my car after an accident.i expected better with the purchase of a bmw. I am profoundly disappointed that bmw does not think enough of its customer's safety to appropriately address and correct this issue so that there are always mechanical overrides of the electrical system.perhaps you have decided, like ford did 40 years ago with the pinto, that the costs of settling a few wrongful death claims is cheaper than correcting a safety design defect.in lieu of a proactive action on your part, i have filed a complaint with the nhtsa.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v676000 (electrical system) and 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact called east bay bmw at 925-264-8570 (located at 4350 rosewood dr, pleasanton, ca 94588) and was informed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact smelled a burning odor when the vehicle was started and whenever the air conditioner was activated. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

I was driving on an empty road when the car shut off completely, the cabin lost all power and the car went on black out mode. I began to press the brake but it was rough and unresponsive, i pulled the emergency brake to continue to stop slowly, once on the side of the road, i began to examine the vehicle, opened the battery compartment in the trunk of the vehicle and seemed to be fine, i popped the hood open, examined a little bit more for fluids or signs of over heating and was unsuccessful, called a tow truck, the driver tested the battery and said the battery was not taking the charge, so he towed me home, the next day i took the battery to the place i purchased it from since it was still under warranty, this battery had a 2 year warranty and was used for 8 months. I installed the battery and the power in the cabin and dash was reestablished, a warning light came on the dash shortly after i try to start the car and a clicking noise from where the fuse box is located, on the passenger side began. I pulled the key out, attempted to start the car again and an icon of a steering wheel and locked popped up, all in red. I ceased to attempt to start the car, i researched the following day and it seems like it had to be taken to the bmw dealer, on tuesday 4/22 the car was towed to the dealer, i was informed the battery was dead once again and that the issue was the steering column mechanism which was locked, they wanted to charge $1200 to perform the labor, apparently they reset the code and the car was turned on, once i realized the car was drivable and that there is no special coding to perform the job, i asked for the car to be released after paying $160. The vehicle has an electrical issue that causes the battery to put out higher voltage than the car needs and therefore causes the battery to malfunction.

Headlight wiring harness sleeves have rotted, the exposed copper wiring can short inside the vehicle causing a spark, prolonged contact between bare wires will generate heat capable of melting the headlight unit and plastic components around it.

Suddenly all 3 doors (except one passenger door) fail to unlock and even the inside door knob wouldn't unlock the door.it seems to be a very well known problem but bmw wouldn't fix the problem before it happens, and my warranty period is over.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v676000 (electrical system) and 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the parts needed to schedule the recall repairs were specified as not being available until the manufacturer sent a second notice. The contact called the dealer (roadshow bmw, 405 n germantown pkwy, memphis, tn 38018, (901) 365-2584) several times, but the dealer was unable to determine when the parts would be supplied by the manufacturer. The manufacturer indicated that the parts would become available after august of 2018. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Car over heats and smoking

There is a defect with the electronic steering wheel lock.the warning light came on, but the car functioned normally despite the owner's manual saying the car would not start.i thought it was a defective light, until i tried to start my car one morning.the electronic steering wheel lock would not disengage, and i had to get the car towed.it appears to be a complex problem as bmw dealer mechanics can only tell me that the steering column needs to be replaced.they will not tell me why it needs to be replaced or what is causing the problem.estimates for repair have been between $1300 and $1800 depending on the dealer.i understand that cars break down but, after visiting bmw forums on the internet, it is plain to see that this is a known defect that bmw refuses to fix.one posting did indicate that the steering wheel locked up while the car was being driven causing a dangerous situation, but, in my case, the car was parked.this defect does pose to car owners a great inconvenience with possible unsafe consequences depending on the circumstances surrounding the car owner getting stranded. Furthermore, once stranded, the owner has little choice but to get it towed most likely to a bmw dealership and pay the large repair bill. (i tried an indy bmw specialist first.he could not fix it or even determine why it was occurring.)i am filing this complaint in the hope that any subsequent investigation by the nhtsa will reveal that bmw has let a known defect persist.once that is discovered, bmw should be required to fix the defect and reimburse owners who have had to pay for a costly repair.

In december of 2016, my car started blowing a burning smell through the air vents, while i was driving through a neighborhood. I parked my car and turned it off in a median area and then i turned off the ac and white smoke started billowing out of the vents. It was electrical wires catching fire. I took my car to the mechanic and he said it was the blower motor and blower motor resistor that needing replacing. The wire connections deteriorated, melted, and overheated, catching fire. The cost of this replacement was $573.60 out of pocket. I checked a recall website and noticed that a safety recall for these parts were listed in october of 2017, with exact description of my problem that occurred in december 2016.i would appreciate a reimbursement on this repair as this recall should have been found much sooner.

Door lock actuator failure:front door lock actuators failed disallowing exit from all doors except the driver's side front door.passengers could only exit the vehicle by crawling out of the driver's side front door.the front passenger door and both rear doors could not be opened by using the interior or exterior doorhandles.furthermore, the electrical system disallowed any unlocking of these three doors as well.fortunately, the car was not involved in an accident during this door lock actuator failure.during the time of this incident, two people were in the car.the consequences of not having doors which can open from the inside of the car could prove deadly in an accident.a letter was written to bmw of north america, llc by the owner of this car in this report and their response on october 7th, 2011 was, "we have no response."

I purchased the car from an independent dealer with somewhere around 60k or 65k miles it now has around 80k miles and since the car has been purchased it has had one problem after the next. The electrical for the windows, mirrors, door locks, gps system, head lights were not working properly.i received a fault warning that the outside running lights or headlightswere not operating properly. I have noticed the check engine light on and took it to have it looked at which i was told obd code reads misfire #2 ignition coil. I had the parts replaced and codes cleared and still the light came back on reading the same fault code had it checked again and was told it is a new part and it has been replaced and he cannot figure why it would come back the same thing. The only explanation he had for me is there is an electrical problem or there is something wrong with the obd computer.since then the car has had trouble cranking, stutters on take off, stalls at stop lights, i have had a loss of power immediately while on getting on the free way and the car said reduced engine power shut down and would not let me get over speeds of 20. I have smelt fuel when the ac was turned on.has been numerous things one after the other.i was looking at numerous recalls for the electrical, the fuel pump, the lights, and now the air bags .and seat belt tensioners.i would like to find out if the car was ever brought in to be fixed from the recalls, or if the recalls expire. Cause i have not owned vehicle very long

My 2007 bmw 328i is having red steering wheel warning displayed on dash. I have read around the internet and this seems to be a common problem with bmw. Requires the entire steering column be replaced. This is a major safety issue if a person needs to start the car and is unable to start it because of a faulty latch and lever. A simple google search of "bmw steering wheel lock" brings up hundreds of pages and videos of people having issues with their vehicles. The light on my car is a steering wheel lock red. I checked my battery and it works perfectly fine. The problem is a faulty steering lock.the certified bmw dealer that sold the vehicle said this is normal of bmws. Normal meaning they know it will eventually go bad and the steering column has to be replace to correct it. What, the steering column has to be replaced.at some point the vehicle will go into a no start mode per bmw to prevent a steering wheel lock from engaging while operating. This is unethical and cost the consumer around 1500 us dollars to correct.

Electric steering lock light on my 2007 bmw 328i coupe comes up in red and car won't start... Initially thought it was the battery but after getting a jump start and the power flickered off and ondifferent features in the car the car never started, the key fob kept being rejected from the ignition box and the car eventually went dead. I had to manually lock and unlock doors and left it sitting over night. The car was jump start again the next day and radio, lights, trunk, door locks, and seat belts, etc. Appear to be working fine electronically but the car still would not start... The brakes feel tight and the steering column is tight but clicks when turn left and right (feels semi-engaged if that's possible)... Was wondering if the battery is just low and doesn't trigger the steering wheel lock? should we disconnect the battery and reconnect or replace to see if it triggers the electric steering wheel lock? the issue with the battery has happened on several other occasions and the steering wheel lock light came up yellow however the car started in the past after jump starting. This appears to be a known problem and i?m formally complaining if this is the case for i?m trying to avoid any unnecessary costly repairs such as replacing the steering column or reprogramming in any way possible if a known fix is available or faulty product is the cause. I also feel this is definitely a potential safety hazard :-/

Everything was fine. I hadn't noticed any changes except the cruise control would shut off by itself.then i needed a jump and it took right away.the next time i needed a jump it wouldn't take. Took the battery to autozone and had it checked and it was fine. So realized it wasn't the battery. Id try to start the car but nothing happens not even a clicking noise nothing.but the lights still came on windows still rolled down radio even worked it just wouldn't start.

Driving at approximately 30mph passing vehicle allerted me of fire and smoke coming from my rear. As i slowed down flames and smoke increased.smoke filled interior upon my exiting. Rear fire co0ntinued to burn until fire department. Dooused car with water. Police report taken.car taken to repair shop and declared to expensive to repair.

Theheater turns on by itself when the car is off and kills my battery....having lots of other electrical problems with the car not starting..the driver side mirror motor turns on sparatically which drains the battery...now the car doesn't start at all and the windshield wipers engage when i push the start button

My doors have locked and will not unlock without a very expensive repair. I have to use the internal key from the key fob to unlock the driver door but there is no way to unlock any of the other doors. This is extremely dangerous as the other doors will not even unlock from inside the car. Also if you plan on having any passengers they all have to get in through the driver door, if in an accident they have to get out of the driver door, this is absolutely ridiculous and was expensive to fix!

My car burst into flames ahile driving down the highway. The electrical system went off immediately and i was trapped in car. A nearby passenger broke my window to me out. If it wasn't for the man i would have lost my life!!

Door lock actuator failure: front door lock actuators failed disallowing exit from all doors except the driver's side front door. Passengers could only exit the vehicle by crawling out of the driver's side front door. The front passenger door and both rear doors could not be opened by using the interior or exterior doorhandles. Furthermore, the electrical system disallowed any unlocking of these three doors as well. Fortunately, the car was not involved in an accident during this door lock actuator failure. During the time of this incident.car was taken to bmw dealer (passport) for repair and when asked about the safety implications said it is unfortunate but all cars with electronic locks respond this way when the central locking system fails.

Just finished driving about 10 miles from home to work, about 70 degrees-f outside, sunny, good weather around 11am. Did not operate air conditioner, heater or vent fan. Car seemed to drive fine, no strange noises. Had no recent major repairs. We are second owners of certified pre-owned bmw, have had vehicle for the past 7 years and driven about 50k miles since purchase. After arriving at workplace, stopped at workplace parking lot with engine idling for a few seconds to wait for parking gate to open. However, began seeing white smoke coming out of driver's side of engine hood.tried to reverse the vehicle out to the street and moved about 10ft before engine shut off and would not restart. Within 15-30 seconds a plume of fire erupted out of the front hood through the grill.within 3 minutes entire car was engulfed in flames and its proximity to other cars in the lot caused fire damage to 4 other vehicles.car was a total loss including all possessions within it.electronic locks quit working as soon as fire started.

Blower motor :this recall involves the wiring for the system, known as a blower-motor, that controls air flow for the heating and air conditioning system. Over time, the connection between the wiring and this system could deteriorate and, in rare cases, could lead to overheating. Bmw has instructed people with theses vehicles to avoid parking in their garage due to potential fire risks.pcv valve:this recall involves an engine component known as the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater. The pcv valve heater may not have been produced to specifications. Over time, it could deteriorate and, in rare cases, could lead to overheating.notification of recall occurred 10/25/2017, as of january 23, 2018. Bmw still has no remedy or anticipated date for completing needed repairs.

Vehicle is loosing power between 45-55 milesand steering wheels becomes hard to turn on 7/1/16 jackson,ms on northview drive, same problem 7/10/17 mobile,al and 7/16/16 beach blvd. Jacksonville, fl and once breaking at a stop (redlight or stop sign) it shuts down in traffic. Car must be put in park and cranked to restart. Issue unknown and the vehicle is unsafe and will not stay on in big conjestions of traffic, i am scared of a crash. There are already recalls on this issue from the national data base.

The electrical door lock failed and prevented the driver's door to unlock from the inside causing the driver to be trapped inside the car. There is no manual way to unlock car door from inside.

When i tried to close my sunroof, it would not close despite trying to reset it, so i took it in to a mechanic. They couldn't figure out what was wrong until they looked and the sunroof motor blew a fuse. They replaced the fuse, tried it again, and the motor blew the fuse again. So the sunroof motor has a fault. I heard recently that bmws are spontaneously combusting and that we should report any unusual things, so i'm reporting this. My car is still at the mechanic (bay bridge bimmers and minis in oakland) under repair. Their website is: http://www.baybridge-bimmers-minis.com/. Occurred regardless of whether the vehicle was stationary, in motion, etc.

This is the second time i am reporting this issue.a few years ago i was not able to open my doors caused by an obvious electrical issue.the dealership determined it was faulty actuators and they had to be replaced.it was a very expensive repair.this is a serious safety concerned to not be able to get in or out of your car to both the driver and passengers.after some research, it was determined this a known issue by bmw yet they refuse to do a recall. The issue has now happened again to me, and i am not able to open the drivers side door, not even with the key.i was in a parking lot and was almost left stranded until fortunately i was able to crawl in to get to drivers seat.i am very angry they are not taking serious safety concerns into consideration and doing a recall.this is not a cheap fix not to mention a threat to my safety and passengers.bmw needs to step up and take responsibility.i will not be purchasing another bmw (this is my second).my first car had constant issue with check engine light that would not go away although no issue found which was unsettling to drive with.and now this car is having second experience with door failure.i will be purchasing a car that is safer next time!

The doors failed to unlock with the key fob. Only way to enter was with the key into the drivers door. The other doors failed to unlock from the inside, both by using the handle and the unlock button on the dash. Apparently, the door lock actuators are drawing more current flow and burning the 15a fuse installed. A bmw sb says to replace with a 20a fuse, however, the problem still exists. This creates an unsafe condition, in that no passenger(s) can exit the vehicle, and nobody, such as emergency personnel, can enter from the outside. The fuse isn't the answer, bmw knows about this problem and should deal with it in a manner that promotes safety of passengers, not profits for the dealers.

I was trapped inside my vehicle with the driver's side door unable to unlock. I could not use the manual door handle on the inside or out. The interior door open button located on the dashboard would not unlock the driver's side door. The key fob would not unlock it. I finally had to maneuver across the center console and slide out through the passenger door. I was scared and frustrated. It was dark and in an empty parking lot.

At 65 mph on freeway, suddenly lost power.vehicle immediately slowed to about 10 mph as i pulled off the freeway.cars behind nearly ran me over.drove slowly to bmw service who diagnosed "water pump short to ground" causing veh to lose power.

I was going about 50 to 55 mpa when my temp light came on, within a few seconds my car lost speed rapidly and completely quit locking everything up on a busy highway. I bought the car as a certified pre-owned with 100,000 mile warrenty.when i called century bmw dealer in huntsville, al where i purchased it i was told my warranty went out two months ago on 5/15 according to date of shipment, a few day's before i had received a notice that my factory warning may be expiring based on time and miles it stated that available coverage expires on 8/23/2013 which was 21 day's after date of failure. I was told that was time i had to buy another extended warranty, that is not what the statement said.when towed to shop it was the water pump and thermostat at a cost of $1,212.11 plus towing charge that i do not have a bill on yet which should have also been covered.i am just lucky that no one behind me slammed into the rearend of car of luckily not turning in oncoming traffic since there was no warning except seconds before it stopped cold. I had took the car in before because i smelled anti-freeze and was told there was no problem, and have at times since then smelled anti-freeze but since i had it checked out just thought maybe it was something about that model. I have since found out this was a common problem with this model, so why was their no recall stating the danger of this happening. And why are they not honoring their warranty.

I opened the door and put key in,every thing looksed good.but i pushed start button,it could not start. Then all power went down: no lock/unlock,no radio,no light. Yet after some time, the power went back and i could start.this happened many times. I found many 2007 bmw 328ihave the same problem. It's related to the b+ wire contact issue.bmw has a recall for that issue:there is a tsb for this e90 wont start - si b61 08 11

Driver side light continue to go out...smoke coming from under the hood on start up periodically smell of burning plastic pulled over to turn turned the car off . Noticed white smoke coming from center console...random warning light indicated on display. Car keeps jumping into lag mode.

I was driving my car one day, i made a quick stop, turned my vehicle off and went back to my car to start it and nothing. Only to find the steering lock light. My vehicle would not startno other indication of power beside interior light. I think this presents an unsafe condition, that would leave people stranded some where (thank god it wasn't my wife and 4 kids stranded with the car). Needless to say i had to get it towed to a bmw service. I am really shocked that their is not already a recall for this, with the high amount of cases i have read about on forums. I pray something can be done about this.

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 117,000.

Takata recall- i have had two separate major issues with this vehicle since i purchased it in may 2018. Over a month ago , my car started to make a loud squealing noise while idled at stop light and would ease up when i would accelerate. My engine was shaking so badly that i could feel it with my foot on brake petal. My roommate heard the squealing noise from inside my house and came out to see what was wrong. Entire engine was shaking as if something was not on properly. Happened one other time since while coming back from work. Second major issue occurred while on the way to work monday morning - i was making a semi sharp right turn off ruffin mill road in chester and my 'service engine soon' light immediate came on and the car went from 35mph to 0 - my car felt as if i couldn't turn the wheel and engine stopped. I cut the car off then back on - light went away and i was able to drive. Less than 5 minutes later, i was coming to a stop light, about to turn left and the same thing happened. Cut car off then back on and it was okay. I have had a lot of issues with this car and even had to get brand new starter two weeks after purchase. Attachment shows all issue with car given to me by mainentance.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. While driving or when parking the vehicle, a strong burning odor of plastic emitted through the vents. The contact called classic bmw at (214) 778-2600 (located at 6800 dallas pkwy, plano, tx 75024) and was informed to schedule an appointment. The vehicle was not driven to the dealer due to the burning odor. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Consumer stated vehicle was repaired.

Car had been parked in driveway for about 10 minutes after being driven for less than a mile. Then it went up in flames. Not totally sure what caused this, but i see that there are two safety recalls/alerts posted in oct 2010 that could result in this. We were never notified. This car was very well maintained and we certainly would have taken care of the problem if we had known it existed.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i.the contact stated that the vehicle has an electronic interior latch assembly that does not allow passengers to manually open the doors.while passengers were occupying the vehicle, there was an experienced an electrical shortage that caused the latch assembly to fail.as a result, the passengers could not exit the vehicle.he took the vehicle to the dealer and a technician repaired the open circuit in the fuse box.he notified the manufacturer and is waiting for a response.the failure and current mileages were 12,000. Out of no where the car didn't want to start up any more. It was parked in my driveway.at first i thought it was the battery but it wasn't. I had it checked out and they didn't know why it couldn't start. I checked online and then i noticed that there's been a recall for 3 series bmw due to electrical problems and i noticed that a lot of people were in my shoes.

I parked on my drive way normally with everything fine. The next day when trying to turn the car on, it wouldn't start and it gave me a steering wheel lock issue.

The electrical is the main issue. Nothing stars. The car don't turn on, won't even lock and it random happened. I went to work and it seemed like everything was fine but when i clocked out .. My car wouldn't even start. I check my battery & it was fine.then i checked online & i noticed that i wasn't even the only person dealing with this issue.

Car was parked, and when key fab was used to unlock the doors to enter the car the locks did not work. Only when the emergency key was used did the driver door open manually.no other doors would open locking any passengers in the car. Dealership recommended change of fuses which was done and did not solve the door lock problem. The central locking system was still not working.dealer recommended changing the door actuators for $3000 even though this is a known safety issue.central locking also caused the gas cap to remain locked and possibly stranding the driver at the gas station.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. While driving, the contact smelled smoke coming from the air conditioning vents. The dealer (reeves bmw tampa, 109 e fowler ave, tampa, fl 33612) was contacted and confirmed that parts were not available for the remedy. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact also stated that he had not received recall letters for three other recalls on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 108,000.

My car caught on fire while sitting in the driveway due to a faulty wiring harness that bmw failed to notify owners about. The car had not been driven in several weeks. If the car was in the garage multiple fatalities could have occured.

Back windows(2) rolled down will not come up. Motor buzzes and nothing happens.

Battery seemed to have drained...when given a jump and power was restored, the car had a the steering locked light up red. The car turned on for a few times and now it doesn't turn on at all. There seems to be power in the car as everything lights up but when attempting to start nothing happens and the only light on the dashboard is the one of the steering locked in red!!!! this has to be a defect!!!

My 2007 bmw 328i is having steering wheel lock issues. I have read around the internet and this seems to be a common problem with bmw. Sometimes when i start the car it will work, other times it will not turn on unless i try pulling the key fob out and putting it back in and clicking the push to start several times. This is all because of a lever that pushes a latch the unhooks the steering column so the car can start. Bmw does not sell the faulty latch and lever alone but requires the entire steering column be replaced. This is a major safety issue if a person needs to start the car and is unable to start it because if a faulty latch and lever. A simple google search of "bmw steering wheel lock" brings up hundreds of pages and videos of people having issues with their vehicles. The light on my car is yellow and not red. I checked my battery and it works perfectly fine. The problem is a faulty steering lock. Ever since i purchased the vehicle it made this locking and unlocking noise and the certified bmw dealer that sold the vehicle said this is normal of bmws. Normal meaning they know it will eventually go bad and has to be replaced. This is unethical and a scam by bmw.

Model: 2007 bmw 328i. The electronic "door actuators" failed. As a result, it became impossible to open any door of the vehicle from the inside, except the driver's door. When these electronic door actuators fail, passengers are trapped in or out of the vehicle. The service advisor at the dealership (weatherford bmw, berkeley, california) explained that he new exactly what was wrong with my vehicle because they received a bulletin regarding this (meaning this is a "known issue" to bmw with this model car!my question was if bmw has received major complaints about this particular issue, why would"nt it be recalled...he advised me that are normally pertained to "safety", we"ll what would you consider this situation...safe?$900.00 was my quote to have this fixed!ridiculous!!! we strongly suggest that this defect be investigated, and that the subject vehicles be recalled so that the defect can be corrected before deaths or injuries occur.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328 i. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and the service engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to two different independent mechanics who were not able to duplicate the problem. The third time the failure occurred, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated the failure was due to a defective eccentric shaft sensor which needed to be replaced. The contact was made aware of a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 13v044000 (electrical system), however, her vin was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 106,745. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. While the vehicle was stationary, the vehicle leaked oil continuously, which caused the belts in the engine to rupture. Rockville bmw in rockville, maryland previously repaired the vehicle per nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling) and 17v676000 (electrical system); however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. When the contact started the vehicle and activated the air conditioner, he smelled smoke. There were no warning indicators illuminated before or after the failure. The vehicle was taken to south motors bmw (16215 s dixie hwy, miami, fl), but were unable to assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. There were two recalls potentially related to the failure: nhtsa campaign number: 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling) and nhtsa campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system). The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

Several times throughout the day after the car was parked, it was difficult to startand he battery indicator came on a few times. The final time after driving from connecticut to queens ny, i was in a friends driveway after dropping them off from the airport, the car would not start even thought the lights were working. Eventually all power was lost. I had to have car pushed out if the driving and on to the street. Also to note earlier i was charging my cell phone, but it stopped charging. I went and purchase a new charged (usb adaptor) which did not work either, but worked when i hooked it up to the computer. The tow truck person was not able to get the car started with a jump, and indicated that it appeared to be an electrical issues. I reviewed the internet to see what the problem could be since my car has such low milage, and noticed there was a recall on my vehicle year and model from february 2013. I don't know if this is the same, but it sounds similar.

The blower on my bmw 328i stopped worked. Shortly thereafter,i received two initial safety recall notices 17v-683 (pcv valve heater) and 17v-676 (blower motor wiring).i took my car to bmw of sterling on 01/13/2018.i brought copies of the two safety notices with me and i provided them to the service agent.the service agent said there was no remedy available and they would replace the blower and charge me $505 for parts/labor.i said this was unacceptable and i asked to speak to a service manager.the service manager reiterated what the agent said.if in the future it was determined to be related, i would get my money refunded.i said this was unacceptable and i left.bmw knowingly let me leave with a safety issue. In my opinion this is detrimental reliance.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. While driving approximately 30 mph and approaching a stop sign, the vehicle lost power and the steering wheel seized. When the vehicle was restarted, the service engine soon indicator illuminated and the failure recurred. The contact called bmw of wilmington at 910-338-2149 (located at 4920 new centre dr, wilmington, nc 28403) and the technician recommended a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. While the contact was attempting to start the vehicle, it lost all electrical power. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer (hendrick bmw north lake, 10720 north lake auto plaza blvd, charlotte, nc 28269). The dealer diagnosed that the distribution box had overheated and melted, which would be an out of pocket expense for the contact. The manufacturer was notified and stated that even though the vehicle was a 2007, it was manufactured in december of 2006. As a result, the vehicle was not eiligible to be repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 13v044000 (electrical system). The manufacturer continued to state that even though it was two months outside of the recall eligibility date, they still would not honor it if it had just been one day outside of the timeframe. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 156,000.updated 11/7/18

Steering wheel lock causing the car not to start,

Upon starting the car there was a rapid sound of the door locks, locking and opening several times and then stopped. The drivers door was locked and could not be opened from inside or outside. Checked all the fuses but none were blown. After online research did replace the #57 fuse with a 20 amp vs 15 as suggested but still not working. If you mess with it long enough it will unlock but the other doors will be locked. If i were to be in an accident and this happened , myself or the other occupants may not be able to exit the vehicle quickly enough to prevent harm to us. I believe this is a safety hazard and bmw should take some action to correct this, an override fix or other safety measure at their expense. This is a safety hazard in my view!

2007 bmw 328i key fob no longer locks/unlocks all doors. This is a severe safety hazard. This has happened more than twice already.if there were an accident or if passengers were in the car, they would have to go out of the car through the car windows. Only the manual key opens the driver's side door.

Vehicle has 2 incomplete recalls, no accidents i am reporting that i was never contacted

Locked in car due to failed door locks. Opened window to access manual door key but passengercrawled over to drivers side since this was the only way out.

I was driving my bmw 328i 2007 and had passengers in the car.apparently one of the door lock fuses blew.i am unable to unlock any of the passenger doors with the key fob nor from the inside of the car.i am able to open the driver's side door manually but that is it.in other words, the passengers in my car could not manually open their doors at all.they had to crawl through the driver side to exit the vehicle!thank god i wasn't in an accident, there wasn't a fire.i'm now being told that bmw has to "run a full diagnostic" but there is no way to open any passenger doors of the vehicle for entrance or exit unless i potentially spend thousands of dollars on an electrical system issue.seriously?does this seem safe to the average person?

Went to unlock doors with key fob. All unlocked but drivers door. Had to use manual key. Once inside, relocked doors and then could not open drivers door. Only way to open drivers door is with manual key from outside. Huge safety issue bmw! and apparently a well known one.

Headlamp wiring insulation is flaking off.all insulation of all wires in both headlamps has totally deteriorated within eight years of manufacture leaving exposed wires creating potential short circuit and fire hazard.bmw's solution is to buy another headlamp at $1,500 each which, presumably, will also deteriorate within the next seven to eight years!

The door locks on the front passenger and rear drivers side doors would not unlock and passengers had to climb out of the opposite sides of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v676000 (electrical system) and 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The dealer (brahman bmw in west palm beach, florida) was made aware of the recalls and stated that the parts were unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

In june of 2011 my bmw328i had intermittent start. I sent the vehicleto a dealer for service in fremont. I was told that the vehicle did not start because of the battery. Battery was replaced at this time. Two days later, the vehicle did not start again, after testing it was determined by fremont dealer that the problem was a faulty negative battery cable. After cable replacement, today problem occurs again.

Door locks would not open leaving me locked out of the car and stranded.had to have the car towed 300 miles to get it back home where a bmw repair place was available.had to replace both front door actuators at a cost of $600.00 just to get back inside my car.if a baby was trapped in the car it could of died by the time it was to get anyone to help get the doors open.the most dangerous design i've ever heard of.interior door handles will not work and no way to get out of the car if it happened while i was inside.

Brakes go out a lot front and rear on both my bmws , and passengers rear door locks stop working on both my bmw's 2006 325, and 328i 2007. Windows on both right rear doors work when they want to. I'vebeen telling the bmw dealer about these things and all they say is what it will cost me to fix. I even told them about the electrical problems on both my cars and they had me pay for it, then later i find out it is a recall. But didn't get money back for me paying to get it fixed. Same thing about the brakes , both my bmws been in the shop more then 30 times or more apiece. Can someone help.

Comfort access is blowing fuse.can't exit my car w inside handles, all doors (only sometimes though)have to roll down driver window, insert manual key to unlock door.other times, the passenger door will not unlock at all.this is dangerous.without power to the windows, how would one escape?the fob will not unlock the doors at all.as mentioned, sometimes i can manually open with the handle inside the car and other times not at all.locks broken at all stages, stationary or moving.

In october of 2009 my leased vehicle did not start, i had the vehicle towed to a dealer for service in detroit. I was told that the vehicle did not start because of the battery. Battery was replaced at this time. In january of 2010 the vehicle did not start again, after testing it was determined that the steering column was defective. This was replaced at my expense. In april of 2010 the vehicle did not start for a third time. I contacted a dealer to have the vehicle towed in; after 5 days the dealer identified the problem as a faulty negative battery cable. I contacted bmw na as i felt that this may have been the original issue and reason for the vehicle not starting. After two weeks of "investigation" bmw na contacted me and stated that due to mileage on the vehicle no assistance would be granted the vehicle is still under lease and was sold to me as a demo vehicle with roughly 9000 miles already on it at time of lease inception.

On the way home yesterday a red warning light "steering wheel with a pad lock on the top left corner" came on, after parking at home i got the manual out and found that this is an electric steering-wheel lock fault and now the car will not start. This is an issue with most bmw's manufactured between years 2006 to 2007.i learned about the issue when i did a search in bmw forum's.both european and north american markets are effected with this fault.

Shutters all the time even after coils replaced. Engine line comes on and misfires. Wiring all messed up especially headlights and seats. Abs light won't go off.

About a month ago, (today's date is 10/8/18) my drivers side reverse light went out. With it being a light that isn't really a necessity or safety hazard, i didn't have any urgency replacing. Last night i decided to peel the cover off the trunk to access my tail light, and once removed, the entire bulb housing falls out of the tail light. There is a lot of melted plastic (it was very very hot) in the tail light. I examine the bulbs, none being burnt out. No where on the part that the lights actually go into has any heat damage (burnt and cracked plastic). I then contact my mechanic with a video asking him what i need to resolve the issue now that i see my tail light is literally melted. He says he'll have to check it out and will come by in the morning. He was 'baffled' and said that it is entirely a manufactures defect, after inspecting the connector, as well as all the wiring. I then had him, (out of curiosity) check and see if the passenger side was also defected. I get on google and see that this is a common problem with my exact car, and numerous peoples vehicles have burst into flames but there isn't a recall?? even people's cars that are turned off??? i have two toddlers and just traveled 750 miles away 1500 miles from home and back. I am very angry at the fact that they as well as my own safety was in danger the entire time and we had no knowledge of. And i'm even more angry that i could have been taking my niece to an appointment tomorrow morning (i do have to find other means to get her there) and my car just combusts, had i not cared to replace the bulb, my car could catch on fire while typing this complaint. I have seen a lot of people say bmw is taking no responsibility for this issue.

The car caught on fire right behind the glove box. The firefighters said it was an electrical fire. The car was off and parked in a restaurant parking lot. This happened on 9/22/17. Someone saw the car on fire in the parking lot and called the fire department. This happened around 6:00pm. Seven hours later, there were still buzzing sounds coming from under the dash. We were told not to drive the car!

2007 328i -- i was driving thru my neigborhood in nyc and the car suddenly shut down completely; no power, no brakes, absolutely nothing at all.. And the thing is no warnings ever showed up.. I hope everyone who's had problems like this reports them to bwm because this is unacceptable and extremely dangerous. I'm lucky i was driving locally and there weren't any cars around because it was the scariest thing i've ever experienced driving a car. Hope bmw steps up before something catastrophic happens, like toyota had them.

The vehicle automatically unrolls all windows and the moonroof whenever it rains. This is flooding and ruining the vehicle, and causing moisture to enter the electrical system and cause a significant fire hazard. There is a burning smell from the electrical system. The issue, which is well known on the blogosphere, is due to a faulty and improperly installed wiring harness (installed crooked), an electrical short in pins 18 and 19 for the door lock actuator, and improper moisture sealing for the harness and actuator. The manufacturer refuses to acknowledge or address the issue.

The car has been recalled by bmw national due to 2 recalls: the pvc valve gasket and the heating wireframe. Car had been showing signs of smoke coming out of hood and smell of plastic burned inside the cabin.bmw national asked the car to be towed to a dealership. Car is actually with the dealership for over 6 weeks and bmw has not given any prevision when it will be repaired.please help.

After, i parked my car in the garage.(nothing out of the ordinary, daily routine, normal conditions). My car wouldn't start.it displayed a "power steering wheel locked" icon warning when i tried to start the ignition.the ignition spark wasnt there.the lights also dimmed as i tried to get started.

I was driving and my car completely shut off as i coasted down the road with absolutely no brakes at all. I was terrified. There was no electrical power to my car at all for all of 10 mins. I almost hit the car in front of me, swerving onto a side street to let my car coast until it stopped. My car has absolutely no cold crank. This is the 3rd time this has happened and no one can fix it.

I drove my car approximately 2 miles then got home and turned my car off. 10 minutes later i look out the window and my car is on fire. The fire dept. Stated that the fire started around the passenger side headlight and that it looked like an electrical fire.

Red steering wheel and padlock warning indicator light is on - steering wheel will not lock.the most common issue with this fault can cause a "no start" condition.the "no start" condition can arise and the steering wheel could lock while driving.this is the second failure within 4 years and common in bmw's (see thread: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=316722 *and thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147586)

The engine stalled at a low speed coming to a stop.this is the second time this has happened over the past week.

A blown fuse caused the door unlocking mechanism to fail, trapping occupants in the car.the doors could not be opened by any means, as the failure also disabled the normal mechanism by which pulling on an interior door handle released the associated lock. The sole exception is that the driver's door could be opened by rolling down the window, and reaching out awkwardly through the window to the exterior door handle with the mechanical auxiliary key.however, the only exit available to backseat passengers was through the windows, assuming the passengers were small enough to fit through them.neither of these modes of egress would be satisfactory if exit needed to be quick.fortunately, this particular failure happened to my family while the car was safely parked.in the event of a collision or fire that required rapid evacuation of the vehicle, however, this would be a potentially life threatening situation.ideally, the locks should be mechanically linked to the door handles so that an electrical failure would not render it impossible to open the doors.absent that, at least having individual fuses for each lock actuator would leave three functioning doors if one failed.

My wife and i have a 2007 bmw 328i. In 2010, we got in the vehicle and there was a steering wheel lock warning on the dash. We took it to get looked at and they stated it was a "fault code". We had the exact same experience in 2012 and 2014 with the same result, "fault code". We now have this icon warning again. This time we are told that the whole steering column will need to be replaced ($1200). According to many references, this is a common problem and bmw is aware of it. Also, according to several references, there is no warning or prediction when the steering wheel lock will fail in the locked position. If you are first getting into the vehicle and the steering wheel lock has failed in the locked position, it will not allow you to start the engine. The question that i have is whether the steering wheel lock can fail in the locked position while the vehicle is being driven. Apparently, this question has been raised by numerous people. I have asked this question to the dealership as well as several bmw websites. The results are, they don't know or the answers have been inconsistent and often contradictory. Aside from this particular problem being far too frequent to ignore by bmw, this appears to be a very real safety concern. Bmw continues to ignore this problem.

I am having a no start, no crank problem, new battery, remove starter, checked ok, fuses, ok. Repair cable but code sill appear, month later n start or crank. This week brought new cable it detonated. Had car towed and now at home. Owned this car since july 2018 and totally upset. This is my second bmw and i love it. I am no sure but i believe the car was in an accident before i brought it.

Driver door will not unlock or open.according to dozens of forum posts, it's a known issue.very dangerous if this fails in an accident and can't get out of the car. Only way to get in and out is through window or passenger door. It is possible for all locks to fail and only way to get out would be from the windows.even door handle can't open door.

My doors have locked and will not unlock without a very expensive repair.i have to use the internal key from the key fob to unlock the driver door but there is no way to unlock any of the other doors.

Plastic insulation has cracked and peeled on all wiring inside my front headlight housings.exposed wiring creates a potential short circuit and fire hazard.

My car is losing power randomly, and has a burning smell. Inspected some of the wires and my main wire going into my fuse box looks a little burnt and has a color change to it.

The door locks and central locking system are malfunctioning.key fob will not unlock driver's door and other doors.key must be used for entry.bmw admits in bulletins that fuse amperage was designed improperly.taken into dealership for repair, dealership claims that all four door latches need to be replaced at a cost of $1,490.00.research indicates this is a systemic issue with bmws.surprised that a recall has not been ordered given the serious safety issues involved.

Both front headlamp assembly's have had to be replace three times due to the bulbs melting their bases - this includes melting of both turn signals bulbs.the cost to replace a single front headlamp assembly is $990, $1,980 for both, times three times.... This is unbelievable and is a big problem with bmw 3 series cars

Service engine soon light continues to go on after numerous resets.

Steering wheel locked wile driving - very similar to nhtsa case # 10194169.my daughter was turning right into a parking lot when she noticed that the steering wheel came to a hard stop.when she realized that she would not make the turn, she tried to turn it back to the left but it immediately locked hard in place.she pulled forward in the direction of travel and was able to stop in the grass on the side of the road.after she stopped she noticed that the "service engine soon" warning message was illuminated.she then turned the car off and back on and everything worked normally and she was able to drive the car about a mile to the house.we had it towed to the local bmw dealer - the dealer kept the car for 3 days where they reviewed fault codes (found none), tried to duplicate the problem (could not duplicate), and took the steering column apart (but found no problem).the dealer did implement nhtsa campaign number 13v044000, but said there was no indication of a problem with the electrical system.needless to say i am very concerned about my daughter driving this vehicle, but have no other choice at the time.can the nhtsa provide any further assistance with this situation.

The contact owned a 2007 bmw 328i. While driving with the cruise control set at 75 mph and the heater at 70 degrees, there was an abnormal popping noise and a flash of light underneath the passenger side dashboard. The passenger air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle and shifted the gear to the park position. Additionally, the contact smelled smoke inside the vehicle. Upon exiting and re-entering the vehicle, the cabin filled up with smoke and spontaneously caught fire. A police report was not filed. The fire department was contacted and extinguished the fire. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was towed to an independent tow facility. The contact called bmw of concord (1967 market st, concord, ca 94520), but no further instructions were provided. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 115,000.

My door locks failed to unlock (with both the remote entry and the door lock switch located in the car) with the exception of the driver side door using the manual key turn. This was repaired by replacing the door lock actuators, under warranty.

Car over heats and smoking

I own a2007 bmw 328i with 21,000 miles on it.in july 2009 i was backing out of my driveway when the car lost all steering power, the accelerator no longer functioned, the check engine light came on, & the key was unable to be ejected.a bmw dealer was unable to duplicate the issue, so they said there was not a problem with the car.in aug 2009, after turning the car on, the car began to shake and it powered down.again, the check engine light came on, and the key was not able to be ejected.the same bmw dealership was unable to duplicate the problem, but they said they installed software updates.in sept 2010 i was driving the car and at a low speed when the car lost all steering control, the accelerator did nothing when i pushed down on it.i had to push the car out of the road.the check engine light was still on, and the key would not eject itself.minutes later, i was able to get the key out, and after i restarted the car, the check engine light went off.(i have photos of it on).the vehicle was towed to a different bmw dealership--but once again, they were unable to resolve the issue.they tested the fuel--the fuel was fine.they told me they had incentive to find a problem with the car so that they could be paid.i have contacted bmw n. America several times, but to no avail.at one point, i asked what it would take for them to fix the car-- personal injury?property damage?the bmw rep said no--but agreed that i'd just have to wait it out and see what happens.after sending a letter to bmw n. America the customer service rep said i would need a local dealer to consent to having an engineer look at my car.he said he would contact the dealer to see if they would grant me consent.he never called.i had to call on my own and beg them to have an engineer look at my car.the engineer was unable to explain why my car keeps powering down.he did however install a software update.bmw won't help me, so my only recourse is to sell it.

Abs system light went off - no traction control system.

On august 31st, i was driving on the freeway in the number 2 lane at 70 mph when the temperature overheat light came on and i experienced an immediate loss of power and was forced to navigate the vehicle across several busy lanes to the shoulder.i allowed the vehicle to cool down, added some water and i attempted to drive the vehicle to the closest dealer 5 miles away.upon entering the freeway again the vehicle immediately experienced the same symptoms and i was forced to tow the vehicle to the local dealership.i was told on september 3rd, the electric water pump had failed.the bmw dealership quoted $1332.00 to repair.upon further research it is apparent that this is a common issue with the bmw's right after the vehicle falls outside of warranty.this loss of power is a serious safety issue as this incident occurred without warning and at high speed with heavy traffic.due to the nature of this loss of power and the common occurrence i would recommend a recall or an extended warranty to be issued for this known problem.

At 65 mph on freeway, suddenly lost power.vehicle immediately slowed to about 10 mph as i pulled off the freeway.cars behind nearly ran me over.drove slowly to bmw service who diagnosed "water pump short to ground" causing veh to lose power.

I went in to have a routine oil change and was told to have a brake flush by the dealership. After leaving dealership i started experiencing problems with steering and brakes. They informed me to bring car back in to rectify the issue. As i was driving on the highway the brake system on the vehicle completely failed and the car has now become inoperable. They are refusing to fix it stating that the issue has nothing to do with the oil change and brake flush but would most likely be a persistent valve issues with this car. The car has two recalls in the past week and yet the dealership refuses to do anything about it. This car is unsafe to drive as i almost got into an accident on md 495 heading toward silver spring. I have tried to work directly with bmw of silver spring and bmw of north america and they are refusing to address the issue.

I'm a retired u.s. Naval officer who currently works in fort detrick, maryland. I was on my way to work when all of a sudden the engine stalled without warning at about 45 mph on a busy rush hour freeway in i-270 north. Immediately i turned on the emergency lights and made every effort to make it to the left shoulder with a stalled (dead) engine. The car behind me immediately noticed the problem and slowed down, as well as the other cars behind him. My car came to a complete stop with half of the body still in the freeway. I was shaking due to safety concerns, but when i shifted the gear to "park" and pushed the "start" button, immediately the car started with no problem at all.on a separate occasion about four months ago, my son was driving the car on a one-lane road at about 30 mph. Without warning the engine stalled again and there wasn't any shoulder he can safely turn to because of a concrete pavement. The cars behind stopped to help him move to the side as much as possible, but when he shifted to "park" and pushed "start", the car immediately started without anything wrong with it.i am filing this complaint due to the recent recall you have identified for bmw 3-series 2007 coupe. Bmw will not fix my problem even though it is very identical to the nhtsa's identified recall, due to the reason that my car was manufactured on november 6, 2006 and did not meet the recall requirement of march 2007 through july 2011. They want me to pay for the expensive repair. I am asking for your help in extending the dates to cover my car (it was on it's very early stage of production).my car has not been modified at all and is still all original specification. I'm not sure when the next occurence may happen. If it involves a fast freeway commute, there is a very big possibility that our lives could be in danger. I need your help for our safety and will not buy bmw anymore.

Battery sparks third. Time replacing, something clicks in the fuse box now the car won't. Start.

Shutters all the time even after coils replaced. Engine line comes on and misfires. Wiring all messed up especially headlights and seats. Abs light won't go off.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that smoke appeared under the hood and the vehicle was hesitant to operate. The battery was replaced, but the failure continued. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v676000 (electrical system) and 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling). The dealer (bmw of mobile, 3025 government blvd, mobile, al 36606, (251) 476-2550) indicated that the remedy and parts were unavailable and may not be available for over six months. The dealer stated that a loaner vehicle was not an option. The manufacturer was notified. The failure progressed to the point that the dealer stated that the starter and drive belt tensioner needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the contact was awaiting the diagnosis. The failure mileage was not available. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Vehicle has camshaft issues that are due to vanos-vanos bolts on drive are damaged. Check engine light, stalling, rough idle-

Water pump failure leaving us stranded on the side of the road 200 miles from home.no repair shops anywhere near.no signs of trouble at all and no way of telling what the temperature of the coolant got to.

Left work at 4:30pm on 01/06/2016, as we turned out of parking lot my 2007 bmw 328i just died in mid traffic. This occurence happened twice before but stalled multiple time on way back home. On the 6th of jan, the car began to overheat and burning of battery smell. Car was towed as id codes were checked and all signs have pointed to system failure. Upon further review, 6 open recalls was researched using multiple vin report sites paid and free including bmwusa.com/safety recall. We were then told to contact the bmw consumer and we were told that if there is no warranty due to past milage, recalls were not obligated by bmw consumer. I have already contacted fabbrini law office here in chicago regarding our federal rights in being in a safe car. How many links do we need to post in which stalling and electrical problems have been noted on bmws own company website. We simply ask that bmw consumer llc listen to this complaint like the many others who are being put in unsafe vehicles and we ask that you apply your three prong rule regarding safety hazards such as these that warrant a refund with deappreciation added, replacement of vehicle or simply repair the recalls that have been noted in the last decade affecting more than millions who are loyal to your product. We intially had a 2005 bmw 325i that had recalls and we were not helped then and traded vehicles for yet another bmw with the hopes of better luck.

Car smokes heavy white smoke if you take off fast. Car then rattles, shakes, engine light comes on and engine shakes a lot. You shut off the car, wait 10 seconds restart and it is normal until next time you give it a little to much gas, while in motion. Car burns a quart of oil about every 3 thousand miles. Happens daily.

Car has horrible lifter ticking noise. Started around 58k miles, now up to 61k. Bmw knows about this issue and have even went as far as issuing a new (revision in 2009) service bulletin and redesigning the head and lifters. They don't want to issue a recall notice for their own design flaw because of the cost associated with replacing these parts. I change the oil every 3k miles and have been noticing ferrous metal flakes in the filter caused by the lifters being starved of oil due to the oil ports in the head being too small to allow adequate oil flow to them. One would expect a bmw to last a little bit longer than 60k miles before any issues like this arise.

Blower motor :this recall involves the wiring for the system, known as a blower-motor, that controls air flow for the heating and air conditioning system. Over time, the connection between the wiring and this system could deteriorate and, in rare cases, could lead to overheating. Every time i have taken it to the dealer for this problem they have found multiple leaks and the manifold cracked (not diagnosed in one visit these were found after multiple visits). Takata recall- i have had two separate major issues with this vehicle since i purchased it in may 2018.

The engine stalled at a low speed coming to a stop.this is the second time this has happened over the past week.

The engine caught on fire while parked for over 13 hours.

I was informed by a bmw representative that dealerships were told that all the ignition coils would fail around the same time. So if one failed in one cylinder, expect the rest to need replacement or else they will all fail soon after. This is a catastrophic mechanical failure that if left unnoticed would mean the end of the car. There should be a recall fix this known mechanical failure.

I tried starting my car and it would not start. Figured it was a dead battery so i bought a new one and had it replaced. The car worked fine for about 3 days then had the same problem as before. I contacted the dealer, had to have the car towed to them, and was told that it was the connections from the battery to the engine that were loose and causing the car to not start. I picked up my car the next day after paying $120 to have the problem (wiggling some wires) fixed. 2 days later...same problem. It has been sitting now for over 2 weeks because i haven't had time to keep getting it to and from the dealership. After reading all of these other reported problems i am now terrified to drive it ever again.

Owner of 2007 bmw 328i, start my car in the morning, but the car won't start it, it no sound when i try to start the car.but the window, locks and radio are all working well. Try to jump the battery, it nothing wrong with the battery. Need tow my car to the dealership, over one days already, still waiting the reply from the dealer.

7/1/16 i previously submitted a form & combined all complaints at once, the first issue i have had was rite after i purchased the vehicle from a dealer on 7/1/16 and 2 hours at 45mph on north view drive jackson, ms approaching the stop sign the car mad a loud noise as if it was a busted air conditioner, no ac on , the car stalled after the approach of the intersection and then check engine light came on the dash, the steering was hard and the car rocked a bit like it was the air conditioner. I had to put the car in park and restart in the middle of traffic but, it did restart. Called the dealer and issue was resolved i thought, the car had beendriven 3 days prior to traveling florida and it was running ok in 35mph zones with the air on and a few moments on the highway with no problems. 7/10 mobile,al i-59s same issue happened as i approached and stay at a light in a 45mph zone, the only difference was no lights on the dash and no laugh noise. 7/16/16 jacksonville,fl beach blvd. Same issue after consistinatly being in a 45 mph zone for 25 min and approaching the signal light, once at a complete stop vehicle again powered off, no issues on the dash and once car was put in park it restored but started with the same loud noise from the two previous times. This vehicle has had a recall on issues like this in the past and the vehicle is unsafe, i am scared of accidents due to this issue and the vehicle is undriveable and unsafe.

Oil leaking from head gasket.the aluminum bolts used in the engine warped causing leak.had to replace head gasket and all headbolts.

I purchased a 2007 bmw 328i on 8/6/2011, 59,642 miles.shortly after this purchase, i experienced this vehicle overheating and losing all power while driving twice in oneweek, october 25 and october 27, 2011. After approximately 5 minutes ofdriving, the yellow warning signal illuminated and ten seconds later, the redwarning light illuminated and the vehicle immediately lost power and stalled inthe middle of the roadway. I was told to pick up my car and come back if itran hot and stalled again (customer to monitor). I picked my car up on wednesdayevening after work and drove straight home. On thursday morning the yellow light flashed and immediately turned red and shut off in the middle of the roadway again. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership again. This time, when the car wasplace on the tow truck, coolant ran from under the vehicle onto the ground. This is a very frustrating, unexpected, expensive and dangerousproblem with this vehicle. If i had been traveling on the highway and thisvehicle shut down within 10 seconds, i would not have been able to safely navigate this vehicle to the shoulder of the road. Fortunately, i was not rear ended on either incident. I understand that the purpose of the engine shutting down is toprevent engine damage, but there seems to be no advance warning, which puts theoccupants in danger or being rear ended.i am very concerned about this swift total shut down occurring while on the highway and causing a major accident. Although the water pump was not deemed as the absolute cause of the problem, the dealership started their corrective action with replacing the water pump and thermostat. I recently discovered while under warranty, this vehicle's cylinder head was replaced and sludge was in the engine oil (prior to my purchase). I contacted bmwusa and was told that components break down sometimes.

4 days after car was lease brand new 2007 bmw 328i failed on the road where it completely halted with no warning system.it was on surface streets luckily not on the highway or it would have been a car accident with possible deadly consequences.after 3 days still not diagnostic result! brand new! not used.

Service engine light has come on 5 times within the past 6 weeks.i have returned to the dealership and they have been unable to identify the problem.the dealership has advised the dealership to reset the computer program, replace a purge valve, and eventually has had to replace the entire computer system.this has resulted in 5 visits to the dealership and an extreme inconvenience.

On 12/15/07 i pulled onto the highway from the dirt median.the car engine lost power and the vehicle came to a virtual stop on the highway with high speed traffic quickly approaching.i was pushing the gas pedal to the floor but no power was being applied to the wheels and engine rpm did not increase.this lasted for many seconds. I had time to confirm i was still in first gear.i then depressed the clutch, revved the engine to high rpm and took off in second gear. My wife and i were almost killed due to the length of time we were on the highway with the vehicle virtually at a standstill.

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the piston valve area timing system was defective. The dealer reprogrammed the engine. The current and failure mileages were 80,000.

I was left stranded in a parking lot with the steering wheel lock light showing.i was not able to start the car at all and i was upset because i could not move the car and had to be towed to the closest place which was an extreme burden on me financially.

My vehicle shakes and shuts down when im stopped at a red light and even sometimes when i put it on in the morning, this has happened more than five or six times since i bought the vehicle, i took the vehicle to the dealership and they keep saying they can not find the problem and they refresh a computer they say. Also the service light comes on when i have this problem and before the check engine light came on.

My 2007 bmw model 328i was delivered new with bridgestone run-flat-tires as original equipment but with no jack and spare tire included.the run-flat-tires have proven to be unreliable, noisy, and prone to low-mileage wear out.i have filed two written claims with bmw of north america for reimbursement of the expenses necessary to purchase a spare emergency wheel and jack kit.bmwna has denied both claims.bmwna continues to deliver 3-series and other model new vehicles without a jack and spare included.i believe this essential safety equipment should be included in all new-car deliveries, regardless of tire type used. A civil class-action suit has been filed in new jersey regarding the issue with bmw's use of bridgestone run-flat-tires, but the suit does not address jack and spare tire safety equipment issues.

Blinkers continue to go out the bulbs are fine so are the sockets. They sometimes work but most of the time not after reading online i found there are several others with similar if not the same exact issues. They have found there to be something wrong with the frm modules.if you play with the bulb long enough or very slowly turn the socket it might come on but decides wether to stay on or not there is no pattern to it.

Headlight wiring harness sleeves have rotted, the exposed copper wiring can short inside the vehicle causing a spark, prolonged contact between bare wires will generate heat capable of melting the headlight unit and plastic components around it.

Front headlight assembly's, both right and left, the wiring insulation is falling off of all the headlight wires thus leaving an array of completely exposed copper wiring.upon reading in the bimmer computer forum this is a common happening in most ~ 2000 vintage bmw's.bmw's response is this is normal wear and tear and blamed on florida weather even though this doesn't exist in other auto model's.

I was driving just my 3rd day of having my car and i come outside and its wrecked someone hit the driver side front panel and bumper

My rear left tail lamp warning light came on.we can't figure out what is wrong and all of the lights still work.

Plastic insulation has cracked and peeled on all wiring inside my front headlight housings.exposed wiring creates a potential short circuit and fire hazard.

Auto manufactures are beginning to install led tail lights with refresh rates that cause me to see significant flicker (strobe effect) at night.it makes it very difficult to drive when i am behind one of these cars.my fear is that the roads will be filled with these cars in a few years, and the distractions will be too intense to drive.specifically, at night, when the tail lights are dimmed, (brakes not on) and i look at them and blink or turn my head, the after image is very strange.i see dashes or trails of light.last night in particular, i had an after image for about two minutes after the car in front of me turned off the road.the cars that have the most significant effect seem to be cadillac's, infinities, and bmws.i have found a thread on a newsgroup that might be useful explaining what is going on:http://www.automotive-usenet.com/rec-autos-tech/1414-re-car-led-tail-lights-strobe-rate-too-slow.htmli would appreciate if someone would look into it.

I had just purchased a brand new bmw 328i.we were driving on i-5 from los angeles to san francisco.i was accompanied by my husband and two dogs.we were traveling ~80 miles per hour in the left lane.all of the sudden and without warning, the engine turned completely off on the vehicle.i lost power steering and breaking and had no other option than to glide into the center median.unfortunately, there was not sufficient room for the vehicle, so the right tires were in the left lane of traffic.we called bmw assist, but they said they would not pick us up because we had dogs in the car.we were stuck in the median for nearly one hour, around a bend in the freeway, where other cars could not see us well until the last minute.a california state trooper together with a tow truck finally rescued us from the center median.he said we were in grave danger, which we obviously knew.after the incident i called the beverly hills bmw dealership, where we purchased the vehicle, and spoke with the manager and reported the issue to bmw assist.i was furious that a vehicle would turn off at that speed.they told me they would document the claim but that no other incidences of this had been reported.the latter is inaccurate, as many people apparently have had the exact same issue.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph the vehicle would suddenly stall without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and they advised him that the fuel pump had failed. The vehicle was repaired. A few days later the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and they advised him that there was a loose connection in the fuel tank. The vehicle was repaired again by connecting the tank in place. The vehicle suddenly stalled a third time and it was towed to the same dealer who advised him that the fuel gauge wasn't working and he didn't have any gasoline in the tank. The fuel gauge was repaired. The failure occurred again and the contact was waiting to for the diagnosis. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Sensor in fuel tank did not report amount of gas in tank to dash. Car did not have any gas but reported a quarter tank. While driving at roughly 45 miles an hour, car suddenly died in center lane. Barely had enough time to pull over. The worst part is i was about to enter the highway and my speed would have been roughly 70-75 mph. On a highway, had my car died in the same manner my safety would have been compromised! i ended up blocking a street with oncoming traffic and was unable to move car alone. Dealership stated the sensor is a part of the whole tank and the tank must be replaced. However, because it is a sensor issue might have to be replaced again in the future. This is defect!

Fuel pump failure.

My car burst into flames ahile driving down the highway. The electrical system went off immediately and i was trapped in car. A nearby passenger broke my window to me out. If it wasn't for the man i would have lost my life!!

The fuel system failed when the car was at 80mph. The car was later diagnosed for fuel pump failure.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that while in park, the contact noticed strong fuel fumes outside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. However, the mechanic suggested replacing the fuel cap. The fuel cap was replaced but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic. The technician stated that the fuel tank had fractured and as a result, the fuel pump and fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact received a recall notification for the air bags. The parts were not available in a reasonable time frame to schedule a repair with the dealer. The manufacturer was notified. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated severely and randomly stalled. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v044000 (electrical system). Also, the fuel pump failed and the vehicle was unable to be driven. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The contact was waiting to determine when the recall repairs would be completed. The nhtsa campaign number for the air bags was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Intank fuel pump gas smell from driver side after drive from local store to home

Bmw ofmurietta will not honor the recalls

On aug 10, 2012, i was driving my 2007 bmw 328i on montague expy (county highway g4) during the peak traffic hour (6:30pm). Obviously, at that time, the road was packed with traffic, and suddenly my car engine extinguished and died right there in the middle of the expressway. I had to stay in my car for my nearly 45 minutes, too terrified to walk out of my car and also terrified to stay inside, where i was equally vulnerable. Thankfully, the car behind me had kept a good distance away and stopped too; if the driver wasn't so careful, one can only imagine a far worse situation occurring, such as a pileup.i have kept a very good maintenance record on this bmw 328i and also purchased the extension maintenance program back when i bought it, and therefore, this malfunction issue was most definitely not caused by owner ignorance or lack of care. And yet, despite having taken good care of my car, i already had to have a major engine repair on the bmw within its first two years. And just half a year ago, i had to have another major starter repair as well - i couldn't even start up the car engine. And now there's this - a car stall from a defect with the fuel pump. I find this recent incident the most aggravating and dangerous of them all; i honestly could have died.thus i am filing this complaint to alert the national highway traffic safety administration that there is a problem in particular with the bmw 328i. Hopefully once this problem is documented and bmw is notified, we can see if other bmw 328i owners have been experiencing similar problems as well, and ultimately prevent bmw owners from experiencing an incident as dangerous as mine in the future.

While driving on the highway at about 60 mph, the front passenger door opened by itself and door open warning showed up. It has happened only once on my car so far but a few other owners of similar bmw cars have had the same issue. When reported to the manufacturer's dealership service department, the standard response from the dealership is "unable to replicate problem" and they will not do anything else about it.

Passenger and rear doors will not unlock even from the inside.key fob, interior unlock button and manual door handles will not unlock the doors making passengers have to exit through the drivers door or windows.

A simple fuse failure in the automatic door locking system rendered the inside door handles unusable, except for one, whose actuator caused the original electrical overload. Had something else caused the fuse to fail, we would be unable to egress the vehicle except through the windows, and, with a complete electrical failure that also would have been impossible. The bmw tech people tell me that the system is designed that way. I feel that it is a safety hazard.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that the driver side door did not unlock even after manually using the key. In addition, the contact had to exit the vehicle through the passenger side door. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

My wife was unable to open the door on our 2007 bmw 328i. The door locks seem to be stuck with no way to open them except the drivers door which will still open with two pulls on the door release latch. All other doors and the fuel filler door are stuck closed. Very dangerous situation as everyone has to exit through the drivers door or through the electric windows. Obvious safety issue which seems to be very common with these cars. Should be recalled and have a fix which makes the doors open even with an electrical failure.

Repeated door lock actuator failure in 2007 bmw 3281.when this happens, both rear doors and the front passenger doors are impossible to open from outside or inside.this is an obvious safety hazard.

All doors on a 2007 bmw 328i, 4-door, would not unlock for an unknown reason.all passengers were trapped inside the vehicle and had to climb out the windows to exit the vehicle.

2007 bmw 328i key fob no longer locks/unlocks all doors. This is a severe safety hazard. This has happened more than twice already.if there were an accident or if passengers were in the car, they would have to go out of the car through the car windows. Only the manual key opens the driver's side door.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated the key lock actuator failed;whenever she unlocked the doors the latch on the front drivers and front passengers side failed to lock. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated she needed all four actuators to function in order for the locks to work properly. The contact was advised that the repair cost was $1200 at herexpense; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the failure mileage was unknown.

Drivers side door will not unlock from inside. Pulling on handle will not unlock the door nor will the unlock button for all locks on car.in addition the remote key fob will not lock or unlock the door. Random occurrence. Worked perfectly fine in the morning and then malfunctioned later on in the day.serious safety hazard.what if there is an accident. I can not get out of the car.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that the rear driver's door would not unlock. The contact was unable to unlock the door using the manual key or the electronic key fob. The front driver's side door was also affected. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but a diagnostic was not performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who was waiting for the results of the diagnostic. The vin was not available. The approximate failure and current mileage was 63,000.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that when entering or exiting the vehicle with the use of the key fob or manually, the four power door locks would not unlock however, the front driver's side door would unlock manually with the key. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

2007 bmw 328i doors would not lock/unlock.

Door locks failed to unlock either with the remote control or the inside door lock button (central locking system). Doors except for the drivers door would not open even using the inside door handles.the drivers door had to be opened from the outside using the key.my wife and i were locked in the car in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees.we did not even realize the locks did not work until we returned home from a brief trip.had we been in an accident we would not have been able to get out of the car.the gas filler door is linked to the door locks and would also not open.it seemed that the door locks are only electronically controlled with no manual linkage since lifting the button on the door did not unlock the door.after finally getting out of the car i did some quick research online and found this to be a common problem.the fuse had blown so i replaced the fuse but i am sure it will fail again.cannot trust the car now so will be getting rid of it.this is a dangerous design when the doors will not open from the inside when there is an electrical failure.

Suddenly all 3 doors (except one passenger door) fail to unlock and even the inside door knob wouldn't unlock the door.it seems to be a very well known problem but bmw wouldn't fix the problem before it happens, and my warranty period is over.

My door locks failed to unlock (with both the remote entry and the door lock switch located in the car) with the exception of the driver side door using the manual key turn. This was repaired by replacing the door lock actuators, under warranty.

Model: 2007 bmw 328i.the electronic "door actuators" failed.as a result, it became impossible to open any door of the vehicle from the inside, except the driver's door.when these electronic door actuators fail, passengers are trapped in the vehicle, and are exposed to injury or death in the event of a fire or if the vehicle becomes submerged.the service advisor at the dealership (weatherford bmw, berkeley, california) suggested that even if the electronic door actuators were disabled the doors could still be opened by pulling twice on the opening latch.however, when this was tried, the doors still could not be opened.the service advisors did comment that this problem had occurred in other 328i models; and, in fact, another vehicle was being serviced for the identical problem.in view of this extremely serious defect which apparently exists with the 328i model, resulting in trapping passengers if the electrical system controlling the doors fails, we strongly suggest that this defect be investigated, and that the subject vehicles be recalled so that the defect can be corrected before deaths or injuries occur.

Bmw 328i 2007. My whole family {4} of us were locked in car. We could not open the car from inside. That is most crazy thing ever happen to me. This is the safety issue and bmw need to recall all vehicles and fix problem before somebody gets really in trouble. I made some research and find out thatmore people had the same problem as i had. I had to pull out my children trough the window to get them out of car. What would happen if some bigger adult was sitting in the back of car or if we had crash on our way home. This issue with this car need to be recalled!!

The doors on my 2007 bmw 328i would not open with the push button lock.i removed the manual key and was able to open the door from the outside.when i returned to my house, i reviewed the owners manual and checked to see if the setting was wrong with the key.pushing the key, open-close button the doors locked but would not open.i had the foresight to roll my window down prior to checking the lock.if i had not done so, i would have been locked in the vehicle.this happened in florida and could have been fatal if locked in the car without a way out in the florida heat. Also, the gas door was locked shutandi was unable to put gas in the vehicle.i contacted the bmw dealership (quality imports- ft walton beach) and took the car to them for repairs. It took two days instead of the two hours that i was promised.also, i found out that they had a technical repair bulletin that had been issued regarding faulty locks on this model vehicle.besides the safety complaint i feel that i was charges when i should have been taken care of (no cost to the consumer) since this vehicle's problem was a safety issue. I have talked with corporate bmw and was told that any issue could be considered a safety issue.(i felt that i was blown off).i would like for the faulty door actuators to be considered a safety issue and not a technical bulletin issue.when asking the dealership what they meant by a technical bulletin, the response was that they knew about the problem but there was no safety problems identified.i disagree.

The door locks would not work with the fob. I was locked in side the vehicle.when i finally got out and tried to open the doors from outside, the doors would not open. This situation has happened many times over the years. I was trapped inside the car during a heavy rain fall on the road last year due to the doors not unlocking.

The electrical door lock failed and prevented the driver's door to unlock from the inside causing the driver to be trapped inside the car. There is no manual way to unlock car door from inside.

Door actuators on my 2007 bmw 328i failed.it began with just the front two doors and then the rear doors.a very expensive repair, mostly labor expense.i am thankful that this did not occur when away from home as locking and unlocking the doors was not possible.also, if someone had been in the backseat they may not have been able to get out.

The door locks failed to unlock (with both the remote entry and the door lock switch located in the car) with the exception of the driver side door.this resulted in all passengers (including small children) to have to exit the car through the driver's door.in the event of an emergency this could cause safety issues for all occupants.this was repaired by increasing the size of the fuse (to a 20 amp from a 15 amp).after research, this appears to be just a temporary fix. I am concerned with the safety issues this could cause for other families.

Oil leaks in the motor when parked. Grinding or knocking sound coming from the lower part of the rear suspension only when moving in reverse.

When i start a trip my car makes an strong noise on the back. I'm pretty sure it comes from the rear differential axle-final drive assy. My car has 123206 milles. I usually make any maintenance on time. I'm really worry about this strong noise, cause this car is driving everyday by my wife with our baby inside.

2007 bmw 328i coupe, 6-speed manual fails to go into 1st occasionally.i have brought it back to the shop 4 times and it still sometimes will not engage 1st gear with the clutch pressed all the way down.the issue has caused me to be stalled at an intersection twice and in reverse once by accident due to the panic of not engaging 1 st gear.this was escalated to the regional service advisor for the southeast and he state the car is designed to do this??? the are complaints all over the web about this issue and it is dangerous!

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph, the seat belt indicator illuminated with a beeping noise. The contact mentioned the failure occurred whether the seat belt was latched or not. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnose that the occupancy mat sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i.the contact stated that the fasten seat belt and airbag warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred on multiple occasions.the vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the seat occupant detection mat failed.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate mileage was 70,000.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. While driving approximately 35 mph, the front passenger side seat belt webbing would retract and excessively tighten on its own. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The contact was uncertain what part would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 3,500.updated 7/1/15

When i was driving and at the stop light, when i was about to go and the air bags came on and the sound ding, ding, ding, and the air bags light came on the dash? when i take it to my local shop and let them run ob2 scanner and it came up on the ob2 scanner it was the passenger side air bags mat sensor.

I purchased my bmw in germany!!! there was a recall for 2006 (i drive a 2007) models of this vehicle for the passenger seat occupancy sensor mat in the passenger seat.

Person kneeled on passenger seat and the seat restraint warning light came on.this part is being replaced under warranty for some 2007 bmw's but not my vin.

Abs system light went off - no traction control system.

Original warranty expired at 50,000 miles so i began taking my vehicle to a licensed mechanic to do scheduled maintenance. While driving over to the mechanic for a brake change i went to stop and lost usage of my brake. This resulted in me merely rearending the back end of the car in front of me. My mechanic replaced rotors and brake pads; and there was still a problem. So he began to look over my car and found that the vacuum boost pump for my bakes was possibly bad. Once opened in that area he found that the bolt holding the sprocket was broken. Part of the bolt was remaining and the rest is still missing somewhere in my engine. Towed my car because it is not drivable to bmw of riverside to have them look it over and fix the faulty bolt. They refused to fix it because it wants serviced there for one year due to the expired warranty. I called bmw of north america to file a claim to investigate it under a safety issue because bmw of riverside said it was a mechanical issue, but it is truly a safety issue. Susan monjelli from bmw of north america filed my claim and had a engineer look a my vehicle again. She is claiming because i took my car to another mechanic other than bmw that my mechanic must have broken the bolt and that it isn't because it was faulty. My mechanic has never touched this item. He states that the sprockets and the chain are lodged and the only way that this could have happened is when the car is running, not buy him working on it in any way. Also there is a website saying that there is a problem with this particular part in old and new bmw vehicles.

I was driving the whole weekend and now my car won't start i changed the battery and now some red symbol is coming up and i had look it up on you tube and they are saying that my steering wheel is lock and i have no idea why because i was driving the night before and now my car won't start all because of some locked symbol

Steering wheel lock causing the car not to start,

Wheel steering lock light comes on. Bmw is completely aware of this flaw in their cars, but since nhtsa has not stepped in to force them to fix this issue as a recall they keep charging people for the repair under a tsb.

110000 miles.2007 bmw 328i.sterring wheel lock fault.car will not start and wheel will not turn.this is a "common" issue with this car.this should be a recall issue.

Steering wheel lock is on. It appears this is a known issue. This is a safety issue. The car can stall or in case of an attack, a person cant get away. I walked to my vehicle one day and it was on, with no warning. It was never yellow. Went straight to red. Never seen it before.

My 2007 bmw 328i, did not start and it showed that it had a lock sterring wheel. Also having issues with my driver side mirror being folded back world and did not allow me to position to a safe view.the vehicle was stationary.i could not start the vehicle because of the sterring wheel was locked.

Passenger airbag seat pad does not detect.steering wheel lock faultboth these problems have been recalled on other vehicles of same models same year but not mine.both problems have occurred on my vehicle and i refuse to pay to get it fixed when others get there covered with a recall.

Bmw steering wheel lock cant start vehicle leaves you stranded. Had dealer replaced already once in past problem persists.

We did not buy bmw just for the look but we bought it cause of how good they make there cars and now this happen and boy i was fooled.

I was driving the car and the electronic steering wheel lock icon illuminated on the dash panel.it kept giving the warning that the steering wheel will lock and if i turn the car off, i won't be able to crank it.i drove it for about two weeks.when i turned the car off, i could not crank it back up.i had to have the steering column replaced at my local bmw repair shop.i have known other bmw owner's who says this has happened to them more than once.i am wondering if this is a defect in the bmw 328i models because i have been told that the steering wheel could also lock if a person was driving, also.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. While driving 15 mph, the steering wheel locked up and the vehicle stalled. Various warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not able to restart and was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering column failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 107,000.

Steering wheel lock sign keeps appearing and locking me out of the car. This has happened 4 times in the last two weeks and has left me stranded every time and 3 of the times a tow truck was unable to reach my car to tow it. I have had it at the dealer for a week now and the sign has not popped up for them so they say they can not do anything. When i dropped off the car to them after being stuck for 45 min, as soon as i parked it at bmw the service woman tried to go into it and start it and it showed the sign. The service team has been unable to diagnose the problem. So i am pick up the car today with nothing that has been done to it and it will most likely happen again in the next couple of days since it will be driven normally.

Steering wheel is locking up which causes the car not to start.bmw has a service bulletin on it but it has not been recalled

I was out with my kids and went to park at the restaurant and when i turned off my car a steering wheel lock sign in red popped up on the dash. This was the first time i had seen this, so i turned the car back on and kept flashing. I took the manuel out to see what this was and it was the steering wheel lock. Well i figured ok i will read more about it after i had dinner with my kids. I had forgotten about it after dinner so i get in my car just like normal and then i see the red sign still. Went home and the light is still on. I had been searching for this online and i have seen so many other people with this problem.i'm afraid to drive my car now since it's what i use to take my kids to school and pick them up. I just hope the dealer can fix this since this is the first time i have seen it. It never even went from yellow to red it was just red.

A message in red appeared on the dash with a steering wheel and padlock. Car would not start. Was told steering column needs to be replaced

I went in to have a routine oil change and was told to have a brake flush by the dealership. After leaving dealership i started experiencing problems with steering and brakes. I have tried to work directly with bmw of silver spring and bmw of north america and they are refusing to address the issue.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i. The contact stated that after the vehicle was in the park position, the steering lock system failed to activate. In addition, the contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle began to smoke from under the hood of the vehicle. After the vehicle was parked, the contact discovered that the smoke was coming from the crank shaft. The contact also mentioned that the serpentine belt fractured causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering lock failed and that the steering lock module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was partially repaired due to the dealer not being granted approval for the repairs to be performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The steering column lock failed which required bmw to replace the upper steering column at $1,252.92!!!

After parking at store steering wheel lock displayed on car dash board and vehicle will not start.

My 2007 bmw 328i is having red steering wheel warning displayed on dash. I have read around the internet and this seems to be a common problem with bmw.

Red indicator for electronic steering wheel lock malfunction.car failed to start unless multiple attempts to unlock column by inserting and removing key.dealer says the column needs to be replaced, and the car reprogrammed to "accept" the new column.the car is covered under a cpo warranty, so the parts will be covered, but the "reprogramming" is not.an internet search for "bmw electric steering wheel lock malfunction" returns multiple instances of the failure mode.in some cases multiple times per vehicle.please help us!bmw is ignoring the issue or kicking-the-can down the road until the vehicle is out of warranty.

I was driving my 328i with 48k miles and the electronic steering wheel lock icon came up on the dash panel. It kept giving the warning that the steering wheel will lock and if i turn the car off and i won't be able to start it. I drove it home and when i turned the car off, i was able to crank it back up and had no problem with steering in test drive. Dealer told me that i need to replace the column because it could actually lock.this would be disastrous on a freeway in southern cal where i live. This is a defect in the bmw 328i models because i am reading other online posts stating the steering did lock. I am filing this complaint, hoping that any subsequent investigation by the nhtsa will see this is a realsafety issue and bmw knows there is a problem that could result in a serious accident yet they won't issue a recall.

While driving bmw, 328i, 2007 on a heavily used highway, i attempted to make a turn to an off ramp when the steering wheel locked up.fortunately due the angle of the wheels i missed a retaining wall and an island separating on-coming traffic.unfortunately when i finally stopped i impeded traffic until a tow truck arrived (2 hours).this occurred at the turn-off of belt parkway (queens, ny) and van wyck expressway (entrance to jfk airport).on researching this problem on the internet i was surprised to see other bmws having the same defect.

Steering wheel lock malfunction which is inherent on this model. Bmw refuses to recall the item. They have since corrected the malfunction on subsequent years. Repair cost $1800 min. I will add this complaint to the ever growing list i am sure you have on this model. Hopefully you will attend to the dangerous problem. The steering wheel locks you crash.

The vehicle had been parked in an overnight garage for about 5 days while i was traveling.when i returned and tried to start the car, i got an elv symbol (basically locked the vehicle and kept it from turning over).it essentially drained the battery which has now been replaced.i was told by the dealership that the steering column would have to be replaced.apparently, there has been a lot of occurrences of this happening to bmws.bmw knows that this is a fault on vehicles made from 2006-2008.the cost to replace the steering column is around $1600.because the company is aware of this problem with vehicles in these years, this is an item that should be listed as a recall.

Elv electronic steering lock faulty red indicator lamp:engine will not startin jan 2013 my car (mileage 128,575)was repaired by reeves bmw in tampa, fl for faulty steering lock (a112 cas elv fault and a116 cas critical status).they replaced the steering lock (steering column) at cost of $664.17 parts and $547.88 labor = 1212.05 + taxes.i didn't realize there were hundreds of similar complaints on the internet for this same issue. Now its 9/29/16 and i have the same exact issue with the lamp indicator and my car will not start.stranded over 1 hour from my home.bmw parts have a warranty of 2 years, so there is nothing that the service department will do.i have to pay for the same repair all over again, plus the cost of a tow.how is this ethical or even safe?with all the complaints for this bmw elv issue, there should be a recall by bmw.this is a safety issue and something should be done to hold bmw accountable for these repairs.obviously, there must be a material defect and/or design flaw where this keeps happening to hundreds of owners and on multiple occasions.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i.while driving approximately 25 mph and makinga right turn, the steering wheel locked.the contact drove across several lanes of traffic without crashing.the brakes were slow to respond when depressed and the abs light on the instrument panel illuminated.when the vehicle came to a stop, the service engine light illuminated and the steering wheel was still locked.the contact shut off the vehicle.when she restarted it, the vehicle began operating normally.the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it currently remains.the current and failure mileages were 3,183.

I was driving the car and the electronic steering wheel lock icon came up on the dash panel. It kept giving the warning that the steering wheel will lock and if i turn the car off and i won't be able to crank it. I drove it home and when i turned the car off, i was able to crank it back up and had no problem with steering in test drive, but i will have to visit my local bmw repair shop tomorrow.i have known other bmw owner's who says this has happened to them more than once and i found a lot of the same problems on the internet forums. I am wondering if this is a defect in the bmw 328i models because i have been told that the steering wheel could also lock if a person was driving, also. I am filing this complaint, hoping that any subsequent investigation by the nhtsa will reveal any safety issue with this known defect.

Steeringwheel locks up unexpected and car will not start. Have been replaced once before. This is the second incident since 12/28/09.car has to be towed from locations.

I parked on my drive way normally with everything fine. The next day when trying to turn the car on, it wouldn't start and it gave me a steering wheel lock issue.

I have a problem with bmw 328i my steering wheel, it is blocked and i can not turn it on or move and i think that is bmw problem because those parts are very expensive and it is not something that we customers have to pay for something that is defective of fabric

Steering wheel lock displayed on car dash board. It will not start and car had to be towed to dealership. I have found several complaints of this same issue online. Bmw needs to pay for this issue i will never buy another bmw the rest of my life.please check into this.

Red warning light steering problem stop car immediately. Bmw and internet states this was common problem $1800+ to fix i had extended warranty but it still cost me approx$600.

During normal cruise, the yellow steering lock appeared randomly once....pulling in to the driveway of my home the steering locked in a fix position.i was going less than 5 mph, maintain control but almost impacted my home.in doing research on this fault, there are a lot of complaints regarding the random results of steering wheel lock on bmw vehicles.i believe that if i was not behind the wheel of this car, it could have had very negative results ( if my wife or daughter were driving-and could have cause injury to others or property).bmw needs to take ownership of these faults that have the potencial to loose control of the vehicle while in motion, and when not in motion the ridiculous amount of charges the company wants to pass to consumers for a potential faulty design or quality deficiency that can cause injury or worse.

I was left stranded in a parking lot with the steering wheel lock light showing.i was not able to start the car at all and i was upset because i could not move the car and had to be towed to the closest place which was an extreme burden on me financially.

My car burst into flames ahile driving down the highway. The electrical system went off immediately and i was trapped in car. A nearby passenger broke my window to me out. If it wasn't for the man i would have lost my life!!

Vehicle will not start, replaced battery andicon displaying electric steering lock(elv) shows in the dashboard. Vehicle will not start as steering wheel is locked and can not be releaseddealer says the steering wheel column needs to be replaced. This is an extremely common problem with these cars, dealer said the see about 3 cars a week with this problem.

Car want start steering wheel want lock , already replaced starter and it started running but the same thing happened again and i had it checked and something is wrong with the steering wheel lock.

Steering column needed to be replaced per dealer.

Steering column needed to be replaced per dealer.

I leased a bmw 328i 4 door, andthe dealer delivered the new car from spring valley , ny to lawrence, ny on march 1 2007. On march 13 2007, 12 days later & 200 miles on the car which the dealer drove at least 100 or more of the miles, andwhile driving into a gas station forfirst gas fillup the front driver's side tire cracked off the tie rod, just cracked my pictures , which wasunbelievable. The car was towed to the original dealer by bmw. The car was looked at by the dealer, andtheir responsewasthat i hit something a few days ago, and bmwwas not resposible for this.i should call my insurance ompany. I was appaled by the response, so i started writing & calling bmw of north america. I was assured by customer relations that theywere sending engineers to see the car in spring valley ,ny, and responded to this matter in a timely fashion.

Hi,i think, this is a safety issue that bmw has to fix. My automatic car lock gets stuck and i can only open driver's side door and passenger side door doesn't open. The manual lever that is supposed to open the passenger side door and back door doesn't open the door. My wife and kids were stuck and some how manually they crawled out of the driver's side. It was very stressful and i was wondering if my son was 20yrs old, how can he come through the driver's side from the back seat.bmw is well aware of this issue and has not recalled the cars to fix the manual override when the automatic door opener doesn't work.

Locked in car due to failed door locks. Opened window to access manual door key but passengercrawled over to drivers side since this was the only way out.

The central locking function stopped working. The unlocking does not work through the key fob or the central unlock/lock button within the vehicle. Only the driverside door is able to be unlocked by pulling on the inner door handle. The other 3 doors are unable to be opened and pose a severe safety risk. The fix per bmw is to replace 15a fuses with 20a. This was already done to my vehicle in the past and the problem has appeared again. Disconnecting the battery overnight has also been a fix, but that does not work either.

My door locks failed to unlock (with both the remote entry and the door lock switch located in the car) with the exception of the driver side door using the manual key turn. This was repaired by replacing the door lock actuators, under warranty.

The drivers side back door will not open. Thankfully, it was realized in a non-emergency situation. After research it seems that this issue is popular among this year on this car.

The door locks on the front passenger and rear drivers side doors would not unlock and passengers had to climb out of the opposite sides of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 bmw 328i.the contact stated that the keyless entry function failed to operate when he attempted to unlock the vehicle.the failure affected the front and rear passenger doors disallowing him to enter the vehicle.the dealer replaced the actuator and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, did not offer any assistance.the current and failure mileages were 24,000.

I was driving just my 3rd day of having my car and i come outside and its wrecked someone hit the driver side front panel and bumper

Child safety lock window get stuck and remain stuck, glass window will not roll up. The rotary on this vehicle manufacturing is damaged and i have done numerous research trying to find a solution and found that there is a big community of frustrated bmw owner with the same issue but bmw is not willing to acknowledge this fail window manufacturing error. This is the rear child seat window and it stuck.it has stuck before at a parking lot at work and i had to end up seating there to for almost an hour until it roll up. This time it will not roll up and i had to leave the window down while parking the car at the hospital. Please do diligence and research this as many owner are frustrated. The dealership wants to charge 700 to fix it!

When trying to use the convertible roof- it tries to put itself into the trunk when the trunk is closed.roof gets stuck 1/2 way open and closed.the dealer has tried to fix it 3 times.the roof still continues to try to put itself into the trunk with the trunk closed. Roof has bent itself trying to put itself into a closed trunk.roof has broken parts as a result of its attempt to put convertible roof into a closed trunk. Car is inoperable in this condition as the roof is not secure.any attempt to drive the car might cause the roof to bounce around as it is not connected and locked!

I was driving just my 3rd day of having my car and i come outside and its wrecked someone hit the driver side front panel and bumper

Driving 30 mph tpms light came on indicating front driver tire low, got home and took tried to inflate tire, with no luck. Took tire off and the inside tire wall had blown out.1 month later the same blow out occurred on passenger rear tire. There was good tread on both tires. Don't know if it matters, but both tires where run flat.i have contacted bridgestone, but no response. I'm attaching pictures.

Left rear door will not unlock from inside or outside use central system, remote system nor the manual pull handle inside nor the outside door handle.stationary, have replaced fuses and manually engaged the actuator.this is dangerous as if a child or elderly adult in care during a wreck, fire etc.

Steering wheel has locked and will not turn. The vehicle was stationary.

While i'm driving it popped up a red steering wheel/padlock symbol at the message center, still drives with no issues.i'm concerned if it is safe to drive back home, it's about one hour drive.

Shutters all the time even after coils replaced. Engine line comes on and misfires. Wiring all messed up especially headlights and seats. Abs light won't go off.

Why driving my car it suddenly lost power and stopped. I had to maneuver my car off the road and restart it. It started back up immediately but i drove maybe another mile and it did the same thing. I panicked turned around and drove back home. I will.be at the dealership in montgomery, al first thing monday morning 10/31/2016.

Driver side light continue to go out...smoke coming from under the hood on start up periodically smell of burning plastic pulled over to turn turned the car off . Noticed white smoke coming from center console...random warning light indicated on display. Car keeps jumping into lag mode.

Car is shaking.

New bmw 3 series sports wagon self-accelerated and crashed into the family's garage.minutes before the crash, the car was slowing down as it was being driven onto the driveway of the house, which is perpendicular to the road.soon after the car the garage door lifted with the steering wheel in a turn position (onto the driveway), the car started to move as through it was accelerating on its own and quickly crashed into the garage.it only stopped from the impact of hitting and breaking a structural house column and a pile of sheetrock in the garage.the engine was running, when it stopped.the entire event took place in less than a minute.

The contact owned a 2007 bmw 328i. After exiting the highway to make a right turn, there was a delay with the engine. 2007 bmw 328i.consumer writes in regards to vehicle sun roof shattered without warning.

I was driving on the highway and a rock flew up from the road and hit my windshield. When i got home, my dad noticed a chip in the corner of my windshield. The next day, the chip formed into a crack over a foot long. I had to get my windshield replaced. It has only been two weeks with my new windshield and the other day i was hit by a rock again, creating another chip. So far, there is no crack.and i found forums that people also had this same issue.

The wheels/rims on my bmw are contributing to my tires faults. The bridgestone potenza rts tires are constantly having bubbles form on the tires with normal driving. I have replaced several tires as a result. They tell me it is road hazard. If that was the case i would have replaced tires on my other cars that i drive much more frequently. Last week another blowout on interstate 395 in va.$500 for a new tire and then they find another tire with a bubble. Bmw is at fault as well.

Rear alloy wheel is cracked resulting in loss of pressure. No impact occurred to cause this crack.

I just discovered that the left rear rim on my 2007 bmw 328 convertible is cracked.my car has less than 38k miles on it.the tires are 225/45 17' run-flats.i had four new tires put on about 6 months ago. I got the low tire pressure warning light about a week ago when i started the car. I checked, didn't notice anything, and reset the tpm successfully.since it was a cold morning, i figured the sensor was just reacting to pressure change due to the temperature change.a few days later, it came again.i decided to check, and found the pressure was down to about 25 psi.i filled the tire to recommended psi.i drove about 260 miles on sunday, mostly freeway speeds.when i was about 30 miles from home, the warning light came on again.at that time i was on a freeway, going about 70 mph. Once i got to home, i filled the tire (again it was about 25 psi), and the warning stopped.yesterday the light came on, and i took it to my local tire shop.they didn't find a puncture; but remounted it and filled it.i drove home, and a few hours later, the warning came on again.this morning, i took it back to the shop, and they again removed the tire.this time they did a very close inspection and found the crack in the rim. They are ordering me a replacement rim. From what i have seen on the internet, there seems to be a problem with the bmw rims and run-flat tires.this is definitely a safety issue, if the rim would have a catastrophic failure while the car was traveling at highway speeds this could be deadly.
