When an adult is seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, the air bag service indicator, no seatbelt indicator, and "passenger airbag is disabled" indicator are all illuminated. In my vehicle's current state, if i were to get in an accident with a passenger present, the passenger airbag would not deploy, significantly reducing the effectiveness of the vehicles airbag safety system.a faulty occupant sensor mat is suspected. This issue matches the bmw recall listed as: nhtsa campaign id number: 08v384000.according to bmw north america & local bmw dealer, this specific vehicle does not fall under the vin number or production date ranges that were initially sanctioned under the recall. In the official recall details, the make, model, year, and seat type all match the specifications of my vehicle. After discovering the recall information, i contacted bmw representative by telephone. I was told that because my vehicle vin is not on the recall list, the repair must be done at an out of pocket expense. This vehicle's production date is listed as 03/2006. Bmw states that the affected 3-series standard seat vehicles were produced between feb 1, 2005 - nov 30, 2005.i am filing this complaint because the defective seat sensor significantly reduces the safety of the vehicle passengers, as well as violates vehicle air bag regulations established by the nhtsa. Since this is a design defect, the cost should be covered 100% by the manufacturer, bmw.bmw needs to extend this recall to all model production dates that are exhibiting this failure.
Airbag light went on and idrive said there was a malfunction with the passenger side safety restraint system.bmw is saying that my vehicle is not in scope of the recall, though it should be as it is the same error as related to the existing recall below:recall id # 57362 - air bags:frontal recall date aug 05, 2008recall date:aug 05, 2008model affected:2006 bmw 3-seriesi am thinking it is because i have the touring 3-series, but they share the same sport seats as the other 3-series.please add my vin to the recall list.
Vehicle has 148,000 miles.the air bag and seatbelt light have been coming on for over a year.this same exact problem was repaired by bmw for us in 2010. Our mechanic told us about the current recall on the airbags.our car does have the sport seats and does fall within the dates of manufacture (jan, 2006) .however, after speaking with [xxx] at bmw today she informed me that our vehicle was not included in the recall.obviously it is the part that is bad not the age of the part.i feel that our vehicle should be included in this recall due to the fact that i am not so sure that the airbags would even work if we were to get into an accident.
My airbag indicator came on in early march so i made an appointment with the dealer.after being diagnosed as a passenger airbag issue requiring a new sensor pad under the passenger seat (at significant cost) i searched and found that there is an existing recall around this exact issue that my car apparently did not qualify for due to the manufacture date being 2/05-11/05 and my car being built in 1/06.after speaking to bmw north america i was informed there is an extended warranty that should cover my model with manufacturer dates of 12/05 - 9/06.i have yet to be notified of whether my vehicle qualifies, but because it was a safety issue i had to undertake the costly repair without the benefit of the extended warranty despite bmw's definitive knowledge of the exact same issue.
Passenger airbag not detected when passenger is seated, passenger airbag indicator is off/ not engaged. This happens regardless if the vehicle is stopped or in motion.
The contact owns a 2006 bmw 325xit. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning light illuminated as soon as the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed that the passenger side mat sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer also advised that the vehicle did not qualify for repairs under nhtsa campaign id number:08v384000 (air bags:frontal). The failure mileage was 89,000 and the current mileage was 91,000. Updated 02/22/12
