I have a 2005 bmw 325i and recently been experiencing intermittent failure of my turn signal. While i was driving on the road today it failed to operate and i was almost rear ended by a school bus full of children on the road...the bus had to slam on its breaks avoiding major catastrophe by inches. We stopped and made sure all of the children were okay and went our separate ways. I had switched the bulbs out just last week on vehicle and rechecked the tail light assembly. I discovered charred wiring and a charred wiring plug. I contacted bmw north america and they acknowledged that there is an issue regarding the design of the tail light wiring but there was no recall in place...this is outrageous and it is only a matter of time before somebody has to pay for bmw's design flaw with their life...20 children and myself almost did today. The service bulletin bmw issued on this is #630306. I ask the highway administration to investigate this matter immediately.
Rear tail lamp on left and right side go out and come out intermittently.started at 80,000 miles and has gotten much worse now at 110,000.
Faulty or inadequate ground wire which burned 8-pin connectors and bulb-holders in both rear quarter panels. Dealer installed "additional ground connection to the circuit of the lamps" at no charge on 1/19/12, but i am still fighting with corporate office in nj for reimbursement of $271.35 incurred in replacing the other burned out parts prior to the recall in december.my research revealed that section 6(b) of the tread act requires manufactures to include funds for reimbursement of repair expenses prior to recall in a recall plan.also, the "final rule" passed by the national highway traffic safety administration in october 2002 states that "for those recalls where there is a reasonable possibility that some consumers will be entitled to reimbursement, the main body of the owner notification must include a concise reference to the right to reimbursement for the cost of repair or replacement, along with a description of where consumers who believe they may be entitled to such reimbursement can obtain further information about reimbursement."there was no reference to the right of reimbursement in bmw's notification letter, and two dealers (their "eyes and ears in the field," per a corporate representatively words to me) have said they "know nothing about it" and "will get back to me," which neither one has done.although i may very well still get my $271.35 reimbursed (am waiting to hear), i can't help but wonder about all the other 2005 325i owners out there!

Wed morning went to school with my daughter. When i walked back to the car i could not unlock the car. Cannot unlock the vehicle with the remote key. Cannot open gas tank.cannot unlock or open passanger doors. Power locks do not work at all.tried to reprogram the key but not successful.
My car's transmission light came on so i pulled over to the side of the road. I turned the car off and on but the warning light wouldn't go away. After the car was turned on, it would not shift into drive even though i could hear that the engine was running. I had to have the car towed and was informed by the dealer that my transmission would need to be replaced. This would cost approximately $6,500-. It seems that several bmw owners have had similar issues with the transmission. This is a huge safety concern since i was on a 2-lane highway through mountains without any cell phone reception.
Each time i have had this problem the car has been parked for at least 6 hours.the car starts but does not engage in reverse.the car will roll back due to a slope of surface but when shifted to drive it only rolls forward but doesn't engage.i continue to push on the gas pedal and it finally "lurches" forward.this has happened 7 times randomly over the period of one year.the bmw service department has checked it twice and kept it a week last month.they told me that they had never heard of this problem before and they couldn't replicate it so they couldn't fix it.i am afraid this problem will put me or others in danger if i can't move forward or reverse.

After the last time, i could feel the heat on the front left wheel where as all the other wheels were not as hot.

Dt*:the contact stated while pulling into a parking space at 2mph, there was a grinding noise followed by the vehicle lurching forward into a tree.there was extensive damage to the front of the vehicle, but no injuries were sustained.the police were on the scene, and a report was taken.the vehicle was towed to a body shop for inspection.a manufacturer representative inspected the vehicle, but the details of the investigation were not disclosed.the independent repair shop repaired the body damage, but could not determine the cause of the sudden vehicle acceleration.
I was attempting to park my car at my employer's garage.i was turning my wheel to park in a space, my foot was off the gas pedal and moving very slowly, when my car seemed to jerk forward and all of a sudden it went forward at full speed. It accelerate all of sudden and smashed into the wall. I had my foot on the brake pushing down as hard as i could, but to no avail. Shortly afterwards, the engine sound increased as though the foot pedal had been pushed down full throttle.my foot was not on the throttle.during this time, intermittent clicking sounds were heard, the vehicle then engaged into forward and drove itself, at full force, and hitthe wall of the parking structure.the airbag deployed.my insurance company and bmw of north america were notified.a technical engineer frombmw inspected my vehicle on 4-2-2008.the vehicle could not be test driven due to its damages.the results fromwhat were inspected by bmw revealed no defects or vehicle malfunctions. I was informed by my insurance company thatthe vehicle would be totaledi incurred a broken rib and multiple contusions due to this accident.
The bottom part of the rearview mirror has become unusable. This is a safety hazard because it is hard to see the vehicles behind us only through the top part of the mirror. It is a auto dimming rearview mirror, and, judging by the postings on the internet, it is a common problem with this type of mirror in bmws. Replacing it outside the warranty period costs $425 plus tax for the part, not including labor charges.
