In may 2015 after learning that my car has a recall on the airbags i took it to bmw of buena park, ca. They refused to replace the airbags (by then only the one from one side) because the airbag light was on. They wanted me to pay $180 to diagnose the airbag light before proceeding with the recall repair. I spoke to a manager and asked him why the charge if it was (at least to me) obvious that the light came on because of the faulty airbags. He insisted that i had to pay for the diagnose and refused to fix the airbag. Now i realize that the airbags from both sides are being recalled. I contacted bmw again and they are still refusing to replace the airbags without first diagnosing the airbag light. I told them that this airbag light appears to be an issue with their vehicles. I have found merchants selling devices online to circumvent the sensor that is sending the erroneous signal to the cars computer (http://www.ebay.com/itm/161310404862?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&sspagename=strk%3amebidx%3ait). I still haven't got any help from bmw.

Takata recall -in july 2015, i had the passenger side airbag replaced per the bmw recall, however, i was also notified that the driver side airbag was to be replaced but parts were not available.my car has been located in sw florda for over 9 yrs and after repeated calls to my sarasota dealer, still have not been notied that parts are available.my last contact with the dealer during march 2016, i was advised that the repair is still not available.
Car has been to the bmw dealership several times regarding the air bag sensor alert. Bmw dealership doesn't know what is causing the sensor to come on. I have made several complaints to bmw headquarters regarding this issue. The bmw dealership will clear the alert or attempt to repair it,then within less than 200 miles the alert comes on again. I return the car to the bmw dealership, then they want to try something else, which is costing additional money. Bmw is aware of this issue and need to be held accountable.i just hope that an accident doesn't happen which will require the air bag to be deployed.

Takayuki recalla few years back, i received a recall notice for the passenger side airbag.(potentially lethal consequences if deployed).last year, i received another recall, this time for the driver's airbag.i responded immediately and was placated with the promise of replacement. It has been eighteen months now and the dealer asks me to be patient. I recently found that it may take until 2020!!! for any replacement!!! i ask, simply would any prudent person drive my vehicle? living with the threat of death for four more years? what am i to do? i want a safe replacement at bmw's expense until my vehicle can be repaired. Yes my vehicle is 12 years old ( 60,000 miles) and yes i live in what considered a "humid" environment! help!

I called my dealer last year to schedule to fix my recall on my car. Unfortunately i did not went to my appointment. Now one of the bags exploded, and i called the delegar again to do my recall, but to my surprise the have my car in records as repair!! and i told the that never happened. They promised to check and call me back and has not happened either. This is the bmw san antonio texas delegar. I believe this is fraud! i want to have the recall done and i want to make sure they don't go away with it. I don't have any documentation to upload about it because it doesn't exist. Nevertheless i do have a picture that shows the airbag that exploded is from 2003, as the rest of them. I feel so angry and disappointed. My name is [xxx], owner of the 2004 bmw 325ciinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc

After recalled air bags replaced, about 6 months later new air bag sensor light came on and diagnosed as passenger seat air bag sensor mat needs to be replaced. Just randomly the light came on and stayed on. I see this has been a problem in bmws and there was an extended warranty for other models.this should be a recall as it is a safety issue as bags will not deploy.

Notified many months ago driver air bag could kill and it was being replaced under a recall. I call every month to no help by bmw. Months later, bmw says "tacata air bag company going bankrupt so good luck" ever getting the part. Why isn't bmw being forced to resolve this? so, if i or anyone driving a recalled car dies, bmw is well aware of the prior problem and is an accomplice for aiding and abetting in nothing being done for the many bmw customers.

At around 20k miles, the smg (sequential manual gearbox w/ paddle shifters) on my '04 325ci began experiencing many of the same problems that i've read about regarding the automatic transmission.after a cold night, the smg would not shift into reverse or drive.it would keep "clunking" over and over, continually louder, until i shifted back into neutral.i had the car towed to bmw, where they had to replace the tranny.at 83k miles, i'm starting to notice some of the same problems again.additionally, with both trannys, the car delays its acceleration for about a second or two when starting from a stop.this has always been a problem.on top of that, my alternator just went out after a cold night.in my opinion, bmw's (at least mine) do not like the cold!
Headlight wiring insulation on standard bmw headlights is brittle and falling off exposing bare copper wires within the headlight assembly.in order to protect the headlights i have had to wrap the wires in electrical tape and shrink wrapping.this issue has existed for several years.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 325ci. The contact stated that she noticed there was a leak from under the front of the vehicle. The contact then attempted to start the vehicle but to no avail. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection where they advised her that the battery failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 63,000.
Driver side brake lamp has gone out. In researching, found that this is a common problem with this model in the led tail light and can cause a crash due to other drivers not being able to tell that you are stopping. Found recall information on nhtsa site and contacted bmw. I was informed that my specific vin was not included in this campaign, yet the problem is the same problem that affects 241,000 other cars. I would like to ask that my situation (and vin) be evaluated and included in the recall since this is a known issue with this model. Thank you for your assistance!
No sing of malfunction prior to or since incident. Engine cut off while cruising on highway.cruise control turned off, all lights in dash lit up, engine came back on and everything operational in less than 5 seconds.
Vehicle leaks large amounts oil from valve gasket cover and oil filter housing compartment. I believe the engine block must have loose bolts which is causing the oil to leak and further cause a hazard in a possible engine fire due to this assembly of the engine. I am assuming bmw is well aware of this issue and believe a recall should be available.
Engine needs to be replaced on 2004 bmw 325ic. *mr the check coolant light had come on, then the oil indicator light and then the engine stopped.this all occurred within seconds.the consumer was informed that a water pump was needed and that there was a serious oil leak.the left and right windows did not move into the lock position. *sc

The internal wiring in the adaptive bi-xenon headlights gets brittle and cracks with the risk of short circuits, potential fire and headlight failure.
The contact owns a 2004 bmw 325ci. The contact stated that upon making a right turn and a stop, he noticed that his right turn signal had flashed erratically upon activation. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him that there was a recall on his vehicle under nhtsa campaign number: 11v438000 (exterior lighting). The contact called chapman bmw chandler (7455 w orchid ln, chandler, az 85226) where he made an appointment to have the vehicle repaired under the recall. The dealer called back and informed him that his vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer then referred him to nhtsa for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
2004 bmw 325 ci--constant fuel leak. Vehicle has been repaired twice but the problem persists.
Dt*:the contact owns a 2004 bmw 325ci.while pumping gas into the vehicle the gas tank caught fire.it was determined by the dealership this could have occurred because of static electricity.

My new car will not accelerate when i give it gas.contacted my dealer and they said it was "normal for a break in period".the car hit 2 - 3,000 rpms without moving.very scary.this has happened several times usually after not driving the car for several hours.the car has less than 2k miles and was purchased in december.the bmw message boards are filled with other victims of this known defect. Dealer said i have nothing to worry about and that the car is under warranty.this is ridiculous for a $45,000+ car to be unsafe.will you please do something to alert other drivers before someone is killed.thank you.
Cold morning start the vehicle revs to 2 -3k rpms with little or no forward motion.drive is not engaging.pulling out in traffic was terrifying.dealer offered several reasons: 1) needed to be broken in2)needs a software upgrade3)needs a clutch pack partand finally 4)needs a new transmission.
Bought the car new in dec.transmission failed almost immediately.dealer talked us into having a clutch pack replacement after software upgrade attempts failed.now the car has a noxious stinking smell emminating from the transmission.independent transmission expert says the clutch is slipping and burning insulation.while attempting to merge onto highway with three passengers downshifted for more torquethe engine revved as if it were in neutral.terrifying experience.bmw dealer and bmwna are unwilling to address this problem.they say car is performing normally.please help.
On cold starts vehicle does not move when transmission put in drive.it delays for 10 to 15 seconds to one minute.i was told by dealer that it has a defective part and they are currently replacing the transmission.vehicle has 2000 miles on it.also had problem with the steptronic transmission.vehicle will not allow you to manually shift the gear when you select manual for the clutchless shift.it simply gets stuck and then shifts on its own.dealer had not heard of this problem.now i am driving 1 2004 x5 as a loaner from the dealer and it too has the same problem with the steptronic transmission when you select manual. I can shorten the delay by increasing the engine speed.the vehicle will then creeps forward until the transmission is fully engaged.
I owned the car for a year before it started giving me problems. It first gave me a problem changing from reverse to drive. It slips and wont go into gear. The most dangerous is when im turning a corner and the car puts itself into neutral. At this time it is not drivable and i've researched it and it is common for this vehicle but i don't understand why there isn't a recall. Its dangerous! i've taken it to a mechanic and for a second opinion at bmw. The cost to repair my car is over $5,000, if i would have known that i would have bought the newer bmw. Now im without a car waiting to get approved for another loan just to pay for repairs.
The steptronic transmission will not engauge in "d" for several minutes after sitting overnight.bmw replaced the transmission at 1100 miles and at 300 miles the "new" transmission is doing the same thing.the car goes in "r" and potentially could leave you in traffic without the ability to move out of the way.
Petition for defect investigation of the 2004 bmw 325xi due to hesitation in shifting of the automatic transmission when vehicle is in motion especially when accelerating after a full stop. *mr when the consumer shifted from reverse to drive it experienced delays of from one half minute to two minutes before the transmission shifted into drive then the vehicle would move forward. *sc
While drivingat low sped on low traffic stopped and moved forward, theclutch didn't engage properly andsmelled burning . Dealershipinspected the vehicle several times and could not duplicate or correct the problem .

While driving my 2004 bmw 325ci sport down the road smelled something burning, looked down my heated seat caught fire, burnt my leg, almost wrecked trying to get off the highway.now my seat has a huge burnt hole in it and cant use seat heaters.both passenger and drivers seat are doing the same thing!!!!my car only has 45000 miles on it.this needs to be a recalllll!!!!!

While driving at highway speeds, the car began to pull/swerve. A metal on metal grinding noise also began. I was able to get off the highway and have the car towed. A mechanic found that the rear passenger side parking brake had engaged and disintegrated into several pieces of metal. All other wheels were unaffected. The parking brake lever was down, and had not been used in several months.
Brake failure ( delayed brake engagement) once upon leaving the dealer ship. Again 24 hours later( resulting in a crash) and one week later with 600 miles.mw claims nothing wrong with vehicle. I traded car in refusing to endanger my live and the lives of others.
When weather is hot steering becomes critical. Does not respond to where you steer the car. Fear of an accident causes me to not use the car in hot weather. Seems like a common problem with this model car, why isn't there a recall by bmw ??
Bmw 525i 2004:dealer says they can not set speedometer to show miles actually traveling:instead the speedometers on all cars are set using the following formula:speed shown on speedometer x .10 (the result) add 2.4 miles. Then take this result and subtract it from the miles shown on the speedometer to find the actual miles i am traveling! in other words if the speedometer shows i am traveling 70 mph x .10 = 7 + 2.4 = 9.4i am actually going 60.6 miles!bmw refuses to adjust this.what can i do short of trading in car?
