Driving down rt 287 in bridgewater, nj and both back locks, on the trailer, sheared off allowing the gate to slam open at 65 mph and have a large portion of the products i was carrying. Everything from a large executive desk, to a lazy-boy-chair and some kitchen items all came crashing down into the street with the back gate now open. The chair and desk was smashed to bits. I have no idea if they were run over by other vehicles, and everything i owned that fell out was ruined. After pulling over, turning around and coming back to try to remove some of the belongings from an insanely busy highway, i called the location where i brought the big tex trailer - hecht trailers 2075 u.s. 9, toms river, nj 08755 - (800) 392-6829. On the phone, they mentioned that this is a common problem and a recall issued by the manufacturer (http://bigtextrailers.com/). Here's my problem.... After doing some investigation online, you can clearly see that a recalled was issued regarding this product in october 2013!i purchased my trailer 6 weeks later in november 2014....which leaves me to question.... Why was i sold a vehicle that could have killed someone??? i never receive a letteri was not told about this problemthere was no offer to fix the issueno phone calls were made by the manufacturerjust see ya, thanks for the business and please take you shitty trailer with you that will become a death trap once it reaches about 200 miles of usage on the road! what the hell is being done about this type of shotty business practices. The trailer should have legally never been able to leave the lot, unless it was repaired to the specifications. I'm pissed.... And not just for the belongings that were destroyed.... I could have killed someone!!!! and quite easily!!!!please let me know what will happen now - this is outrageous.
