2006 big dog ridgeback. There is a recall on the 2005 year model. The nhtsa campaign # is 05v432000 for bolts on rear hub assembly backing out. I had the same problem with my 2006 ridgeback. The bolts backed out hit the frame putting me into an intermittent lock up then bolts broke away from the pulley to the hub/extension and left me with no power in the middle of traffic and my 9 year old daughter on the back. Lucky i avoided a crash. This can lead to loss of control of the bike, loss of power in traffic conditions to rear tire, parts creating spark when hitting frame or flying off hitting riders and other vehicles. The remedy would be to install bolts that would be secure from backing out, if already a problem replace damaged parts affected by recalled items. In my case the whole hub assembly and pulley are unusable and need to be replaced. The holes for bolts are warped and cracked beyond repair. I have given bigdog fair opportunity to remedy the problem but was told although my bike was built in 2005 it is a 2006 model and not under the recall. I am asking forswift attention to this due to the amount of bikes of this type and model now on the streets with owners that have no warning that this problem exists on 2006 models as well as the 2005. Also i have my bike at the dealer awaiting my ok to replace the parts.
