Purchased the car new in 2001, the airbag light started coming on intermittently in 2003 had the cluster replaced in 2004 (15k miles) under warranty, shortly after it was repaired the airbag light came on again intermittently for another 2 years until it stayed on permanently. I brought it back to another dealer they reset something and the airbag light went out again for about a year. In 2010 i brought it back to the dealeragain for a cluster recall, they replaced the cluster all was fine then about a year late the airbag light came on again. Brought it back to the dealer and was told it was the airbag module. Spent $1500 to have the airbag module replaced ( think this was the issue all along). After having the airbag module replaced the seat belt light no longer comes on. Was told it is the cluster. The car has 37,000 miles on it this will be the 4th cluster in the car. The dealer wants $1500 to replace again with no guarantee. Audi accepts there is a problem and will pay a few hundred towards the repair. I will be responsible for about $1200, i have tried contacting theaudi manager (#248-754-3686) handling the case and my attorneys office has tried contacting them several times and they have refused to return any calls. I am without a seat belt warning indicator. I am concerned that i will have my grandson in the car and not know if his seat belt is properly engaged, or if my airbag is working properly. This has been a constant issue since i bought the car new and have put very low miles on the car, have always garaged it and never drove it in bad weather and the cluster remains an issue going on the 4th one.

Electrical issue with gauge cluster, fuel gauge inaccurate (runs out of gas in middle ofhwy), low oil pressure light comes on (manual says to stop immediately when light comes on), air bag light comes on! everything i have read states these are all problems with the gauge cluster (cost over $1000 to have replaced!) audi usa knows about problem but refuses to do anything about it. Audi has a recall in the uk for this problem, why not here in the u.s. ?? this is a serious safety issue!

Failure of the "air bag control module" on our 2001 audi tt.this failure , if not repaired, will lead to the air bag system on the car not workingaudi refuses to help with the repair, which is over $1000.we feel this safety issue should be repaired by audi.

2001 audi tt, air bag light stays on.purchased the car new in 2001, light came on at 15k miles, had cluster replaced took care of problem for a week, brought back to dealer had fixed again. Lasted about 2 weeks. At 30 k miles brought car back to dealer for recall of cluster, problem fixed for about 500 miles. The car now has 31k miles light is still on. I searched the internet and this is a major problem with most early audi tt from 2000 to 2004 and some after. No one has mentioned a valid solution only that they keep bringing the car back to the dealer, spending a lot of money and only having a short term fix. This is a major safety issue and audi should take responsibility to resolve. Drivers don't know if the airbags will work properly during a crash.

My 2001 audi tt roadsters airbag did not deploy during a direct frontal collision.the collision force was enough to shear the aluminum bumper reinforcement in the middle as well as wrap the radiator around the front of the engine.the vehicle is still in for repairs which now total over $13,000.in early 2003 i took my car to the dealer to investigate the airbag warning light.on the third (3rd) visit they replaced the airbag control module.i am concerned the airbag did not deploy because of a system failure?

Audi tt, 2001, roadster. The glove box lock failed without reason. This failure does not allow the passenger side air bag to be disconnected for children as required by law. My car is not the only one with this defect. It is a design failure creating a safety hazard to small passengers. This failure is common to audi tt 2000 thru 2005. Needs to be corrected via a recall, an improved glove box lock system. Repairing with the same system only leads to recurrent failures.

Air bag indicator light continuously stays on. An authorized audi service center diagnostic indicated air bag modular malfunction resulting in the inability for all air bags to properly function and seat belt tensioner to be inactive. In addition, the diagnostic indicated other safety components not available to this make and model as malfunctioning.air bag modular is required to be replaced to ensure the safety of the vehicle and passengers.without replacement of air bag modular, the air bag(s) will not deploy and the seat belt tensioner will not work presenting the possibility of serious injuries to the driver and/or passenger.

Uncommanded deployment of passenger side airbag.*nlm

My car has had a low oil pressure light coming on for the last three months, and it's occurring with more frequency.the light only comes on when i take my car out of gear and put it in neutral while slowing down or while waiting at a stop light. After taking it to three different audi dealers, i have had multiple answers as to the problem.several hundred dollars later, my light still comes on and nothing has been fixed. Even more recently and just to top it off, my instrument panel cluster has blown.so far, it's just the temperature gauge, fuel gauge, led display, and a warning light that triggers one of my headlights to turn off, but from what i've read online, the speedometer is soon to follow.there has been a recall in the uk for this, but audi usa won't do anything about it.i have spoken with them on the phone and they only refer me to the local audi dealer, which is just a viscous cycle.i will be very upset when i'm driving and can't tell how fast i'm going. This seems a danger to be on the road.since the problem costs $1000 to fix, i guess i will just have to drive without a speedometer for a while ...

2001 tt quatro coupe gauges cluster failed twice. ***nar***the manufacturer resolved the designed problem after the 2003 model year.

Check engine light is on, power door lock button sometimes does not work, driver side window sometimes does not fully close, button to put the convertible top down sometimes does not work, button for motion sensor alarm does not light up when pressed, lcd display turns fully red and next day is back to normal, rear defrost lines not fully operable, water leaks in between window and door seal on both doors.i have just purchased my car with about 19000 miles, a few days later the check engine light turned on.took it to toyota grossinger dealer and said that it was the fuel gage and that i should wait a few months for it to turn itself off. I called audi dealership and said that my car had no recalls. Then, i went to a mechanic and said that computer showed that solenoid sensors had failed, so it was replaced.check engine light came back on again and after complaining with first mechanic i went to a turbo performance specialist and said that the secondary air pump had failed. Changed it and week later light came back on showing the same code.all throughout, the car has lost power and a fluttering noise is heard from front driver side every time i change gears.when power locks don't work, i have to use the remote to unlock doors to get out of car. Sometimes i hear sparks and clicking from dashboard display.

Instrument cluster, fuel, temp, speed and rpm, all failed to work. Car has less than 14,000 miles. Out of warranty. Very dangerous.

All electrical performances shut down. Also, vehicle shut down while operating. Consumer was driving at approximately 55 mph when the vehicle suddenly shut down.

2001 audi tt quattro instrument panel began to fail about at about 45,000 miles. Currently at 62,000 miles. Panel continues to get worse. Can no longer read any warning messages, etc. Did receive a notice regarding a class action suit that would provide free replacement, but found out from dealer that it does not apply to 2001 tt since it is beyond the seven year limit of the class action suit.

Instrument cluster failure on 2001 audi tt roadster.

Battery was dead.replaced battery and by next morning the new battery was dead.turns out that the heated seats were short circuiting and was draining the battery even when shut off.disconnected the fuse.found out that in order to get fixed could cost in excess of $1000 since it requires taking the dashboard apart.

Audi tt instrument cluster shows abnormal temperature reading, when actual temperature is fine (reported through air conditioning diagnostic code 49c).dealer repaired dead cluster in 2002, and installed a still defective cluster that shows wrong temperature. I later became aware that the new cluster is also faulty. Dealer quotes approx $1000 for repair. Audi corp refuses free repair.

On our audi tt 2001 convertible, the electrical outlets underneath the dashboard caught on fire. The fire department was called and after an investigation, found no known cause of fire. Also, prior to this fire, the tip of the spark plug fell into the engine cylinder block, causing us the owners to pay in full for a new engine head to be replaced....lots of money (approximately $8000). We replaced it through a well known professional audi shop auto haus munich in san diego. Hazardous lights needed to be replaced professionally because it interfered with the signal lights. Much money & time spent, and many headaches experienced while owning this beautiful yet troublesome car.

2001 audi tt coupe.when stopping at a red light/stop sign after exiting the highway, the check oil light and warning noise come on.it goes off when i start up again.the dealer states it is a gauge cluster failure and will cost $1000.00 to repair.the car operates perfectly and the oil level is normal.

The engine light illuminated on the dashboard and the vehicle experienced heavy vibration, and forced to pull over. The problem was diagnosed as a faulty coil.

Headlights just stopped working again for the umpteenth time. Park light and high beams work fine. This is a reoccurring problem with the low beams. Can be driving along fine and cut car off and start back up and low beams just won't come on. If it was 1 at a time i could see it as being no problem but they both stop working at the same time. Keep replacing switch and headlights...thinking this would alleviate problem to no avail. See this is an ongoing problem with audi owners. Also see that it's a recall on the newer models but not the late models.

Clock keeps resetting itself and so does the mileage indicator.

Instrument cluster resets date, time. Fuel gauge malfunctions to read empty when full, and reads rpm inaccurately. Began a couple of years ago and not often, now it's a daily problem. On a recent trip i wanted to top the gas tank, but the center isle controls for the gas cap and hatch door failed to work forcing me to continue with the available gas in tank. Once i arrived, both gas cap and latch door opened.

This car has stalled 3 times this year while driving when all lights went off , motor died , power steering died and i could not maneuver the car anymore. 1. Jan 23,2005i was driving when the car all of a sudden died. Luckily i was just approaching a stop light so i was able to get to the side of the road safely. I had the car towed .the service told me that it was a bad battery and the car is fine now.2. Nov 10, 2005 i was driving at night on a windy country road when the same happened this time at a speed of about 50 mph. Lights off, motor died, no steering power, no emergency lights. I do not know how i survived this incident since within a second i didn't know where i was nor where i was going. I ended up in the middle of the road trying to get the car off the street asap since i was just behind a sharp curve. I had the car towed the next day.3. On dec 3 they called and told me the car is fixed and i can pick it up.i asked if someone could give me a ride to another location where i wanted to drop off the car i came with.the service manager himself took the car to drop it off and while he was driving the same happened to him. The car died in the middle of the street. 4. He called me and told me now it??s the alternator which needs to be replaced. I will pick up the car tomorrow. It??s fixed. ?????????i do not feel comfortable to drive this car anymore. The same thing happened 3 times of which one time i almost died. I??m pretty sure that it will happen again and this time i might not survive. The reason why i think that it will happen again? the car had the same issue 3 times, it just died in the middle of driving. The service came up each time with a different explanation. First time the battery, second time ??, third time the alternator. None of them justify that a car dies just like that , while i??m driving. All three times it had rained the days before. Heinz legler.

The fuel gauge on my 2001 audi tt quattro no longer works and does not properly indicate the amount of fuel in my tank.this happens whenever the car is operating.in order to replace the instrument cluster i would have to pay over 1000 dollars at the audi deal.i am aware that many other owners of the same car have the same issue and seems worthy of a recall.

Vehicle instrument panel had a major computer malfunction causing the gas gauge needle to rotate violently from left to right and back again continiously. Cluthh pedal when wet turns into a slippery surface due to the metal on the pedal causing the foot to slip off. The seat belt design for the driver and front passengers is defective causing the seatbelt not to retract. This creates the danger of the seat belt not working as intended.

2001 audi tt convertible: the horn just stopped working one day, the instrument cluster display started to not display clearly then the car seem to lack power when starts up, car then would not start in the mornings, then the car would not start after being left for more than 20 minutes, and the car would often totally shut off while stopped at a red light then automatically turn back on again all by itself. The brake lights also stayed on at all times even when the car was completely shut off. Ignition coils also caught on fire after check engine light was on for only a few hours. The convertible top warning light is flashing on the instrument cluster, and there is a rattling noise coming from the convertible top latch area while driving.consequences: dangerous life threatening situations, fear, stress, financial burden/hardship, time consuming, and extreme inconvenience.repairs: horn was repaired, instrument cluster was replaced, convertible top rattle and warning light not repaired, brake system was replaced, and coils all replaced.

My instrument cluster on my low mileage 2001 audi tt 6 weeks outside of the closing date of a class action lawsuit. U.s. District court of california northern district case no. C 06 6801 mjj.

2001 audi tt roadster with gauge cluster problems**nar**ccthe vehicle's gauge cluster failed just after the warranty period ended in 2004.audi has beenaware of the gauge cluster failure for years.audi has refused to extend the warranty.audi uk chose to replace all identically failed clusters free of charge in the uk.the consumer is requesting that audi replaced his cluster free of charge.

This is a know problem with audi. They refuse to recall, but i wanted to just add to the list of people having an issue here. The gauges are flickering (gauge cluster). There should be a recall.

I have a 2001 audi tt. I have had many problems with the gauges not working. I have taken it in many times and i am not getting anywhere. My local dealer told me that they do not know of any problems with the gauges that is wide spread. I am a member of many audi owners groups and everyone i know has had to replace the gauges. They are between $600-$900 and i think that if this many people (at least 100) have this problem then it has to be a factory defect of some kind.

2001 audi tt instrument cluster failure. Consumer states that the instrument cluster should be replaced at no cost to her. She states that her fuel gauge is unreliable and does not read the right amount fuel and the liquid crystal display failed.

Failure of gas gauge and ultimate failure of instrument cluster in 2001 audi tt.lost power on very busy highway in a heavy snowstorm, luckily was able to get to shoulder. Had to be towed. Gas gauge indicated one-half tank of gas, but turns out tank was empty. Gauge never operated properly after that. Several weeks later, received notice of class action noting similar instrument cluster failures in this type of car, and extension of warranty to 6 years. Unfortunately my car has been in service 7.5 years and is not covered by the extension so i will be personally liable for the $1,000 cost for repair for this known problem.

Entire instrument cluster fails in audi tts (speedometer, fuel gauge, etc.)after gauges stop working, car will eventually be completely disabled and unable to start.although this problem is acknowledged by audi uk (http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tv_and_radio/watchdog/reports/transport/transport_20060124.shtml) they refuse to remedy the issue in the united states.

The 2001 audi tt quattro we own runs out of gas before the gas gauge registers an half tank.the computerized dash components don't work, either.

Instrument cluster component failure. Center information display missing many pixels making displayed text and images hard to distinguish. Because of this failure, it can be hard to distinguish the difference between certain informational symbols such as a brake problem or a tail light out. I had a symbol come on the display but i could not tell if it displayed because of a problem with my brakes or tail lights as a result of the failure of the center display. This could have cause a safety issue. Rpm tachometer sticks on cold start as well.

Instrument cluster failure - required replacement of part, paid out of pocket - not covered by warranty.

Progressive failure of instrument cluster. Gas gage reading 3/4 of a tank higher than reality.i ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere. Tachometer and speedometer no longer work.makes it tough to predict turbo lag.low power before turbo kicks in around 2200 rpm makes it tough to predict acceleration of car from standing start (such as left turn across a busy road). Temperature gage reading higher than actual engine temperature.unable to determine if engine may truly be overheating.

Car ran out of gas and rolled to stop in mid-traffic - gas gauge read 1/4 tank remaining. Further research found that audi tt model year 2001 and later have instrument clusters giving wrong gas content, speedometer and rpm indications. Poses hazard as vehicle may become suddenly inoperable.

2001 audi tt roadster with gauge cluster problems customer states that the problem started just after the warranty period ended**ccthe consumer stated the fuel and temperature gauges no longer functioned and the multi-function liquid crystal display did not indicate readable information.there was no way to tellhow much fuel was in the vehicle.the speedometer and tachometer functioned sporadically providing no way to know the correct speed of the vehicle.

The instrument cluster goes on the blink and doesn't work efficiently. Since it provides false readings, the operator has to gauge speed, fuel capacity, and deal with emergency actions during engine failure while driving under heavy traffic conditions. This action is a sure cause for unsafe vehicle operation. The instrument cluster also disables the electrical system to keep the engine operating and causes the car to turn off unexpectedly. The gauge cluster was replaced twice within the life of the car. Once in 2002 and 2005. This is the third cluster gone bad.

The contact owns a 2001 audi tt quattro.the contact stated that the fuel gauge displayed inaccurate readings.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they discovered that the instrument panel was failing and needed to be replaced.the current mileage was 65,000 and failure mileage was 58,000.

The instrument cluster failed and i was stranded and unable to operate my car. This failure disabled my ability to start my engine.

2001 audi tt roadster customer states that it developed problems with gauge cluster after the warranty period ended**nar**ccthe consumer stated that he wants to be compensated with a replacement gauge cluster for the vehicle.

2001 audi tt 4 transmissions failures, overheating, thermostat fails every 60k, engine plastic parts degrading, alternator failure, engine head failed required replacement, various interior trim problems (e.g. Broken stereo cover, glove compartment handle when left in heat with closed windows), instrument cluster replaced, failed again will need replacement fuel gauge reads full all the time, engine vacuum leaks, etc...etc...

1.) no significant events leading to failure. Parked car outside but i live in southern california, thus no extreme temperatures.2.) gauge cluster did not turn on. Cannot see mileage, trip meter, rpm , or speed!3.)sometimes restarting the car will fix it. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes for the gauges to turn itself on.

The contact owns a 2001 audi tt quattro.while driving between 25-30 mph, the contact received four citations on march 19, 2008.the citations stated that she was driving 45 mph in a 35 mph zone and 51 mph in a 35 mph zone.the citations were received within ten minutes of one another.the contact also noticed that the fuel gauge indicator displayed 1/4 tank; however, the vehicle was out of fuel a few miles later.she received a class action letter indicating that the speedometer and fuel gauge were not operating normally and could display inaccurate readings.the dealer and manufacturer stated that the class action suit does not apply to the vehicle since it is beyond the seven year period.the approximate failure mileage was 5,000 and approximate current mileage was 100,000.updated 6/2/08 updated 05/30/08

My instrument panel cluster does not work any more.

2001 audi tt coupe with gauge cluster problems customer states that the problem started just after the warranty period**ccthe fuel and temperatures gauges no longer function and the multi-function liquid crystal display does not indicate readable information. The speedometer and tachometer only function sporadically and there is no way to know the level of fuel the vehicle has.

The contact owns a 2001 audi tt quattro.the contact stated that he has a faulty computer chip in the gauge cluster of his vehicle.the dealer informed him that there was a recall in the european market, but not in the united states.the dealer stated that he would have to pay $2,000 for the repair plus $300 for a diagnostic.the current and failure mileages were 83,000.

2001 audi tt roadster problem with gauge cluster**ccthe consumer is unable to read the temperature, vehicle speed and fuel readings on the vehicle.

2001 audi tt coupe with gauge cluster problems**nar**ccthe fuel and temperature gauge no longer worked and the speedometer and tachometer functioned sporadically.

I have a 2001 audi tt. I bought it threw a dealership out of state online. Went and pick it up and was fine but a couple of weeks went by and started having problems with instrument panel no gas gauge speedometer temperature gauge or dash lights. They will go out just riding up the road and does it more since its colder weather so i started looking in to this matter and this is a major problem with audi and i think they should make this right and plus its a major safety issue to me thank you for your assistance in this matter.

The gas gauge has not worked properly since the vehicle was new.the entire instrument cluster was repaired by audi while the vehicle was under warranty and in the shop on 3 other occasions for the same thing.now the car is out of warranty and audi will not cove the problem.audi is covering a like problem out of warranty in the uk, but will not honor out of warranty problems in the us.it is very well know that there is a problem with the fuel gauge in this vehicle which is a serious safety issue.

Instrument cluster digital display has faded out and is not displaying top two sections of the digital readout. Tachometer has failed. Failure causes inability to read the warning lights, such as low oil, high temperature, etc. I have purchased an instrument cluster at a cost of $650, and will soon be paying $225 to get it installed. I am frustrated with audi for not issuing a recall on this unit.

2001 audi tt with instrument panel failure. Consumer states that the instrument panel gauges are not working. He also states that the instrument cluster failure has started affecting the operation of the vehicle.the temperature gauge no longer functioned. The consumer stated there was no way to know the level of fuel in the vehicle. The speedometer and tachometer also failed.

2001 audi tt roadster problems with gauge/instrument cluster**ccthe consumer stated he had no way to monitor his speed, temperature or fuel gauge. The instrument cluster functioned sporadically.

2001 audi tt roadster 1.8t.the tachometer in the instrument cluster does not function, the needle is stuck on zero and does not gauge rpm when vehicle is in use.the audi dealer in san antonio tx (cavender audi) states that the entire instrument cluster panel needs to be replaced...total cost 700 dollars for parts and 150 dollars labor. The car had a total of 38,800 miles on the odometer when this problem occurred. Currently it has 39,350 miles.

2001 audi tt coupe with gauge cluster problems customer states that the problem started before the warranty was up and it was fixed and then age after**nar**ccthe consumer stated that the problems with the gauge cluster have gotten progressively worse since it was replaced under warranty the 1st time. The consumer stated audi is very aware of this widespread defect have done nothing to rectify the situation here in the us. The consumer stated that the gauge clusters of consumers in the united kingdom were replaced but not here in the united states.the consumer stated that audi should repair the gauge cluster at no charge and a recall issued for this defect.the fuel and temperature gauges are inaccurate

Normal operation of the vehicle, including start up, running vehicle on fairly hot or cold days leads to a failure of the central digital of the display. Furthermore, the analog gauge cluster is not accurate, coolant gauge reads very hot erroneously at all times (though actually coolant temps determined by other means show that vehicle is at normal operating temperatures). Fuel gauge responds erratically, fails to accurately register amount of fuel left. Tachometer readings seem to fluxate occasionally in err.

I have a faulty instrument cluster on my audi tt 2001 roaster.this part controls the tachometer, odometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge and all the warning lights for oil pressure, coolant levels, etc. This is one of the most important parts for the safety of the vehicle. This is the second instrument cluster that has had to be replaced in the vehicle.the initial cluster was faulty and displayed inaccurate gas gauge readings, it was replaced in 2002/3. My current instrument cluster is displaying inaccurate temperature readings. I have reviewed information on websites (edmunds care space at edmunds.com; audi tt car club at audittcca.com, etc.), and understand that this is a very common problem. Audi uk recalled this component on the 2001 audi tt and have agreed to cover all previous costs of repair. A class action lawsuit has been filed in california regarding this problem (www.classcounsel.com/news/audi.html). I have spoken with audi usa and the dealer and they are not willing to completely pay for this repetitive repair. This is a major problem with the audi tt and this needs to be addressed with audi usa.the consumer stated this will be his third instrument cluster. Updated

2001 audi tt problems with the instrument panel. Consumer states that the problems with the instrument panel have grown progressively worse affecting the safety of the operation of the vehicle.the fuel and temperature gauges no longer functioned and the liquid crystal display worked erratically and did not always display readable information. Additionally, the speedometer and tachometer functioned only sporadically, providing no way to dependably monitor engine or vehicle speed.

2001 audi tt roadster instrument cluster problems. Consumer states that the problems have progressed since 2005 when they originated. He also states that the vehicle now has performance problems due to the instrument panel.the temperature gauge immediately went to the far right and stayed there; the indicator light for the passenger air bag came on, the oil alert light came on randomly and the engine light came on continuously.

2001 audi tt roadster developed gauge cluster problem just after the warranty period ended in 2004**nar**ccthe consumer was unable to read the fuel, temperature and vehicle speed.

I've ran out of gas twice while driving due to a faulty gas gauge on the instrument cluster of my 2001 audi tt.i had problems with the instrument cluster before and it was replaced under warranty, now it has gone bad again and i'm out of warranty....this seems to be a common problem as there is a "class action lawsuit" pending too, however nothing has been done by audi or vw to remedy these faulty instrument clusters....thank you

Third instrument cluster on a 2001 audi tt roadster. Fuel gauge at first showed too much fuel. After a new cluster the fuel gauge shows low when its not. Apparently the sending unit is the cause but audi is ignorant of the issue and does not have a repair solution. I dare say audi does not care about its cars, their problems and their customers.

2001 audi tt coupe customer stated that the instrument gauge cluster problem started right after the warranty period ended in 2004**nar**ccthe consumer stated the tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge nolonger function and the multi-function liquid crystal display doesn't indicate readable information.

Audi tt roadster customer states after 40,000 miles the car developed instrument cluster problems**nar**ccthe consumer stated his headlights and all instruments lights went out and the vehicle was stalling intermittently.

2001 audi tt roadster with gauge cluster problems customer states that the problem started just after the warranty period ended**ccthe consumer stated there is no way to know the level of fuel in the vehicle, or the engine's operating temperature. The speedometer and tachometer functioned intermittently.

2001 audi tt instrument panel is not showing right speed and gas. Customer states that the instrument panel is reading speed and gas wrong.customer would like manufacturer to pay for replacement. **nar*the consumer also stated the esp light illuminated on the vehicle.

Car had 37,000 miles on it. Instrument cluster failure resulted in an inability to read vehicle speed, engine speed, engine temperature and fuel level. Replacement cluster was acquired at my expense and installed at my expense. Old cluster is available, however i do not want to give it up. This is such a common problem that a repair industry for these instrument clusters has cropped up. I intend to have the old one repaired for the next time the failure occurs.

Car shows 1/4 of fuel in tank when tank is completely empty causing me to run out of gas multiple times in hazardous situations.i can not read the lcd screen so i can not see any warning lights (gas, oil change, trunk open, etc).my instrument cluster tells me that my vehicle is constantly overheating, which is false.sometimes when i turn my lights on the dashboard will not light up, nor will it register my rpms or even my speed.if i can not read my speed or even see if i have gas, then i am not safe driving this vehicle.the cluster has now failed completely, which prevented my car from even starting so i had to get it towed to the dealership.further more, audi has refused to fully pay for this item to be replaced even though it has been recalled!outrageous.

Instrument cluster failure for 2nd time.nothing works in dash and audi will not cover.no odometer, tach, fuel gauge, oil sensors, nothing.left wife stranded because it showed a half tank of gas when it was actually empty.she had to walk 2 miles to get home. What if she had been raped, killed, etc.there are over 2600 complaints on audiforum where people have replaced up to 3 clusters for the same reason.

Instrument cluster in vehicle suffers intermittent power failure. Problem is becoming worse and worse.

Purchased a 2001 audi tt 225 coupe on october 2000, eight years later and only 69700 miles, timing belt fails causing major damage to the engine. August 2008 audi sent out a letter acknowledging a potential problem with the timing belt but since it was not a recall i paid only a small attention to it. Besides all this clearly the design of the timing belt is faulty or inadequate to be used on a sports car!!!

(1) events leading up to the failure of my timing belt were normal driving conditions, ie no sounds, smells, or visual damage.(2) on 01/15/2007, my timing belt broke while driving.the consequences are damage to the cylinder head, as well as other parts of the engine.(3) last year, audi changed the time/mileage needed in order to change timing belt from 106,000(as stated in the owner manual, of the audi tt) to 60,000-70,000, according to an employee, i spoke with.i asked the dealership if any notices; mail, e-mail, or phone, were sent out, and their response was, "no.because many customer have been having problems with timing belts breaking at an early stage,we let them know as they come in for service."i filed a complaint with the department of consumer affairs on, 1/19/2007.and also contacted audi of america, in which, had me to provide the attorney generals office with my automobiles vin number.

I purchased an audi tt with 40,000 miles on it in january of 2004. It burns 2 quarts of oil every 800 miles. Audi is unable to fix the problem and it has been to the shop at least 15+ times for the same problem. No one will help me and i never have my car. They give me loaners until they can fix it, which they have not been able to do it 11 months. I need help and have no where else to turn to. Please help!

While driving 60 mph a loud knocking noise was heard from the front.consumer pulled over then, vehicle stalled. Consumer tried to restart vehicle, but was unableto do so.consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic replacedclips, screws, pins, and plates.

While driving at any speedcoolant and engine check light illuminated. Vehicle started to produce white smoke from underhood. Took vehicle to dealer, and they stated it was a faulty hose in the cooling system.dealerreplaced hose, and that did not correct the problem.

The contact owns a 2001 audi tt.the contact stated that the engine's timing belt fails without notice and causes the engine to stop.the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty and recommended changing the timing belt at 65,000 miles.the vin and engine size were unavailable.the current and failure mileages were 85,000.

I own a 2001 audi tt convertible with the 1.8 turbo engine (180hp). On february 22nd, the timing belt failed and the engine was severly damaged. The repairs cost me $3650 along with a rental car bill of $450. Since my car had 47,200 miles on it when this happened, i attempted to get audi of north america to pay for the reparis but they refused. The car is no longer under warranty, but the maintainance manual specifies that the timing belt should be change at 120,000 miles. This problem is not unique to audi, to the audi tt, or to the 1.8 t engine as i found out from the large number of online postings by other audi owners.

Dt*:the contact stated without warning, at 65 mph, the vehicle stalled.the vehicle lost all power and was towed to the dealership where they determined the timing belt tensioner failed causing a cylinder head failure.

My audi tt quattro 2001 fuel pump and rollover valve tubing is completely corrosive, when you touch the tubing it crumbles.i called audi about the problem and they where not aware of corrosive gas tubing. Plus the wiring for the fuel pump was bear, all the wire covering had crumble which cause it to short out and not work. This is all inside a full tank of gas, it seen very dangerous.

Dt: the contact states that the fuel gauges stopped working.dealership stated that a number of them have failed.in order to fix this problem the cluster of all the gauges would have to be replaced.

No summary listed for above vehicle.

Fuel gauge is not registering proper amount of fuel infuel tank. Dealer made repairs on three separate occasions, but problem has reoccurred. Feel free to provide any further information.

The fuel sending unit can often report incorrect information, causing owners to occasionally run out of gas without prior notice. Fuel gauge has a tendency to jump from full to empty within minutes. Audi has already recalled their a6 model for the same defect, yet does not want to recall the tt even though they share the same part number for the fuel sending unit and exhibit the same problem.

The 2001 audi tt quattro we own runs out of gas before the gas gauge registers an half tank.the computerized dash components don't work, either.

When driving car intermittedly maintains speed when foot is taken off gas. Also intermittedly, when car idels it feels as if it is going to stall like car is losing power.

Sudden clutch failure almost resulted in accident as no power was going to wheels when turning into a parking lot to diagnose the problem.car was started on a slight hill, possibly in third, but with no hesitation, clutch was slipped but not smoked.during approx 3-5 miles of driving without riding the clutch the revs climbed while maintaining a steady speed, by the time i pulled over the clutch was gone.aoa covered half of the part cost & 10% of the labor because it is a normal wear item, and thus not covered under warranty.

Vehicle was sitting for about 2.5 hours on a very cold day (15 degrees). Started car and let vehicle warm up. Then i started home. After approximately ten minutes on driving in traffic, i started to experience problems with shifting the manual transmission. It was very hard to get the car into another gear. I finally noticed that the clutch was not retracting completely. I had to use my foot to bring the pedal up to its normal non-depressed position.

I am driving a manual 6 gear audi tt roadster 2001. In 2008, approx 2 months after i bought it used i shifted gear and all of a sudden held the shift in my hand, it had cleanly broken off the gear box. The lever was fixed and it cost me about 600.- to have that part repaired.

I was getting into my 2001 audi tt coupe and could not latch the seat belt into the buckle. After working with it for several minutes i finally drove home and removed the seat belt latch and took it apart. I discovered that a small plastic component in the buckle had broken. I called audi about this since it was a safety issue hoping that they might help me out with the repair. They informed me that since the warranty had just run out the repair would have to be done at my expense. They told me that they charge $110 for this part.

The vehicle is an audi tt, vin [xxx].the vehicle abs and esp warning lights came on.the vehicle was taken to an audi dealer, and the diagnostic error codes reported by the dealer indicated that the vehicle's onboard computer sensed that the vehicle was going into a slide when it was driving straight down the road, and that the vehicle onboard computer system attempted to apply the brakes as corrective action.the dealer replaced a falty lateral angel sensor.the vehicle continues to have the abs and esp warning lights come on intermittently.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

The brakes failed on the 2001 audi tt sportscar. The first time the car crashed.the audi dealer said there was nothing wrong with the brakes.a few months later the brakes failed again, and fortunately the car did not crash.again, audi insists the brakes are fine, but obviously, something is seriously wrong. I am afraid to drive the car.

2001 audi tt 1.8 quattro abs module.poor pump and abs fails around 80k miles. Huge repair price and many complaints. I feel as though they did a really poor job at putting this module together.

While driving 60 mph brake hose collapsed and brakes locked up.

The contact owns a 2001 audi tt. While driving 45 mph up an incline the contact noticed that the vehicle began to shutter, the contact then applied the brakes and noticed that they would not engage. In order to stop the vehicle, the contact had to apply the emergency brake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the vacuum pipe needed to be replaced. There were no prior warnings. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages was 68000.

Conusmer had a tire problem.

We have owned this tt for just over a year and we have experienced 2 very serious tire blowouts on the highway that could have caused serious accidents.we only drive this vehicle on well-maintained surface roads and highways (no back-country driving, no off-roading).additionally, we were not changing lanes, did not hit any potholes, or doing any evasive manuevers when both incidences occurred.we have taken this car to all scheduled maintenances.as we have now had two close calls, it has made us very concerned about this tire's safety and reliability.all calls to audi dealerships and bridgestone retailers have been met with little support or desire to investigate.one more thing, we have a third tire (right front) that is starting to bubble on the side wall. (dot number: ejh8cfe220tiresize: 225/45 r17)

These tires keeping blowing out on me - this is the third one in five months. This presents a huge liability and audi refuses to replace these obviously bad tires with new ones from another manufacturer. I have requested pirelli all season tires which are far more appropriate to highways and city streets.

I did not experience an impact, but lost the inside sidewall and the tire blew out. (tiresize: 225-45-17)( dot number:tire size: 225-45-17 )

My vehicle has be taken by a woman that was fraudulant to me by trading another persons vehicle to me and i believe my vehicle is in the hands of a car thief who claimed to be a notarty, because the title of the vehicle given to me was frudulant. The phone number of this woman is how i found out that she was not who she said she was. Being that i found out she was not the true owner of the traded vehicle. I found out her true identity by looking up the described name from the phone id check and then by facebook. The law inforcment officers that i had talk to are not wanting to help me report my car stolen to get my car back instead they are telling me to sign a release of ownership so then i wont be held responsible for whathappens to it. So far i have recived toll charges caused by the frudulant woman that has affected my license. And in order to take care of these toll bills i need i stolen vehicles report to show that it wasnt me who caused the toll bills. Therefore i am making this report so i can be heard that this car thief needs to be stopped. And she needs to return my vehicle, but i just dont know why y vehicle cant be reported as stolen.

Failure of coilpack in 2001 audi tt coupe - causes sever loss of power making car prone to failure and inability to drive.problem seems to occur without warning and happened to me on a very dangerous and busy highway.

Instrument cluster seems to be defective.in the uk, there has been a recall, not here in the us.(others have complained on online forums and at the dealership, four others have the problem and instrument panels are on order).i have a perfectly maintained vehicle and now the instrument panel (including the gauge and computer) are giving me wrong information.the "get fuel" indicator on the computer comes on at over 1/4 a tank and the fuel gauge seems to be off.

All windshields produced by audi for tt model have noticeable visual distortion showing in windshield as viewed from the drivers seat while looking out the passengers side of the windshield. Distortion appears as verticle lines running from to bottom of winshield making anything viewed, especially straight lines, distort. This causes can and has caused momentary dizziness. This is covered under warranty but according to audi of america, jerrad, in customer service, audi has been unable to date to correct the problem. They are willing to supply a thrid windsheild in the hopes it will have less distortion, but he suggested i may want to wait to see if this production problem is ever fixed and than obtain a new windshield. Thought you should know about this potetntial safety hazard.
