I am finding that audi is not handling the airbag recall very diligently.audi has my name, mail address, email address and cell phone number and has made no efforts to contact me. I receive mail from audi regularly, including emails with service specials and yet none of them mention this recall whatsoever.your pdf issued the required recall on october 23.why are they not required to act quickly?

My audi a4passenger occupant detection system is not detecting an adult passenger within a range of 120 lbs sitting straight in normal position and the airbag stays off. When the person sitsapplying more for on one side of the body the pods detects the person and the airbag is on.having the person sit back in normal position the airbag turns off again. This behavior happens in at least three other a4 loaners we got, model years 2014 and 2015. The pods was changed two times about 1 year apart but the issue was still there every time.the third time the car was brought in for the same issue, audi decided not to change the pods due it was behaving in the detection range.they stated "the car is programmed that anyone that sits in the front with a weight of approximately less than 150 lb, that is about the minimum weight point that triggers the pods to which it will tell the car to either turn the airbag on or off.this issue hasn't been present with the same adult on other audi cars we have owned or drove. I know that according to 49 cfr 571.208the weight required for the pods to activate the airbag is 102lb for the5th percentile adult female test dummy or between 103 and 113 lb for human used instead of an dummy. The height of the person is also stated and the adults that my car didn't detect are above the minimum range of 55 to 59 inches tall. I requested a better answer from audi several times and no answer was given.they were right a person above 150 lbmakes the pods to turn the airbag on but a 120 lb doesn't.and it happens on at least 4 a4 same platform we tested. Two of them plus my car the audi dealership personnel witnessed it.

The contact owns a 2014 audio a4.the contact stated while waiting to turn left, another vehicle ran through the light and crashed into the front passenger's side of the contact's vehicle.the driver and passenger side air bag failed to deploy.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the air bag was not supposed to deploy. The contact was unable to confirm if there were any injuries or if a police report was filed.the vehicle was towed to a salvage yard where it was deemed as destroyed.the failure mileage was 3,000.

While driving the vehicle, i get an 'alternator failure - battery might not be charging' warming, few seconds later the car almost completely shut down, the steering wheel becomes super stiff, can't accelerate, i almost hit a car next to me while trying to get out of the road and park in a safe place! luckily was a 35 mph zone, in the highway would have been really dangerous! i towed to a shop and yes, is the alternator. The car should give an earlier warning and definitely not shut down while driving!

I was never notified of a recall and now my engine is bad.

I received a recall notice for disconnecting electric coolant pump.i called two dealers and they said they did not have any partsand did not know when the parts would be available.however, the recall notice states "until the recall work is done, you should park outdoors as a precaution in case of a vehicle fire due to the safety defect".i was told to keep calling back to see if they had any parts in.this is unacceptable.this is a huge safety issue if my car could catch on fire.who can help me with this??

Vehicle shut down completely while in motion on a busy street.steering where became very hard to maneuver could have caused an accident due to shutdown. Tried to restart ignition in order to drive it off the road but kept shutting down completely. All electrical and components were not working. Even in neutral the steering where was very hard to turn. It turned out to be the fuel pump which cost $1400 to replace.

The contact owns a 2014 audi a4. The contact attempt to honk the horn but it failed to activate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that if the engine was not running, the horn would not sound. The technician explained that they were not able to alter the design of the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 0 and the current mileage was 7,000.updated 09/05/14*lj

2014 audi a4. Consumer writes in regards to after run coolant pump. *ld the consumer stated the lack of availability of the replacement coolant pump was unacceptable.

4 year old car 3 months past 4 year extended warranty and major oil leak, which if not repaired can negatively impact engine. Both valve cover gaskets and timing chain cover gaskets are leaking. When asked service consultant at audi how often this happens, he said in 15-20% of cars by 50,000 miles (i have 46,000 +). This is a manufacturing flaw and should be made part of a recall. I am paying over $2000.00 for this repair after a 10% discount with a dealership "coupon". This is clearly a manufacturing defect of these parts and it is inexcusable that audi pass this defect and the costs on to 15-20% of customers after approximately 4 years of ownership and comprehensive maintenance . The service person told me there was nothing i could do to have prevented this from occurring . I think the ntsb can alert audi to the . Fact this is a defect in the cars they are selling, causing unnecessary costs and burdens and possible engine hazards to consumers.

This is the 4th time i will have to replace my gas pumpand /or my 3rd engine in my 2014 audi a4. My epc light turns on then my car violently shakes and then it cuts off. This has happened while crossing an intersection, driving in the gas station parking lot, at a parking lot after leaving a friends home and at my home. I have reported this to audi usa, las vegas audi and the finance company. Today it happened 1 year and 1 day after it happened last. I parked at the store ran in and came out turned on the car and the epc light came on. I have spent thousands of dollars on repairs, car rentals, rideshares and replacement parts for the same thing over and over. I am not sure what recourse i have but i need assistance. The 1st time audi replaced the engine and 7 months later it happened again so they replaced the gas pump, 1 year later the same thing happened and they wanted me to pay for another gas pump because the warranty ended. Then its been repaired twice by another mechanic for the exact same thing.

While in motion, coolant system malfunction and overheating. Foul smell overcame my car and i had to pullover in the shoulder to wait for my car to cool down.recall 18v22900 for audi a4 2014 recall # 19n4/19n3. Audi owning mills dealership and service is claiming that is not the problem and are charging me, when i was told by audi customer service that i would not be charged.

The contact owned a 2014 audi a4. While the vehicle was parked with the ignition off, the contact's neighbor alerted him of smoke coming from the vehicle. The contact grabbed the fire extinguisher and opened the front door where he noticed the vehicle was in flames. There were no injuries or property damage. The fire department extinguished the fire and a report was filed. The police were contacted and they also filed a report. The vehicle was destroyed and towed by the contact's insurance company for investigation. Audi natick (549 worcester st, natick, ma 01760, (508) 651-0388) and the manufacturer were notified. The manufacturer provided case number: 190350385. The failure mileage was 52,000. The vin was invalid.

On 4/17/2018 i drove my car from saint petersburg , florida to ruskin, fl, which is about 40 miles one way. On the way back i would say i drove about 28 miles then suddenly the car started smoking from the front & back of car. I pulled over on the highway after coming across the skyway bridge, the car cuts off. I would say 1 or 2 mins later flames were on top of the hood of the car. At that time i exit the car & waited til the fire department & state trooper come. Case number: fhpc180ff040720 . The contact owns a 2014 audi a4. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle began to shake. The dealer determined that the pistons in the engine lost compression and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

I took my car to the audi service center and they expressed to me that my engine coolant pump was not working and that it had to be replaced. However, they did not tell me it was apart of a recall. Had i known this, i feel as though i should not have been charged approximately $2,300 to get it fixed when it was recalled from something out of my control.

Coolant pump is overheating

The contact owns a 2014 audi a4. While driving, the engine and oil pressure indicators illuminated. The vehicle was pulled overand the contact called his mechanic to come and inspect the vehicle. The mechanic noticed that the vehicle's coolant pump was extremely hot, which could cause the vehicle to catch on fire and explode. The vehicle was towed to the mechanic's shop and then to audi. The contact informed the dealer (audi shrewsbury, 780 boston turnpike, shrewsbury, ma 01545, (508) 581-5800) of nhtsa campaign number: 18v229000 (engine and engine cooling), which had not been found during a previous visit. The contact refused to pay for a diagnostic test. The contact emailed the dealer's general manager, but did not receive a response. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 25,392.

Coolant pump overheating

Takata recallpurchase a 2014 audi a4 from a local dealership.after a month due to a over heat the enginee blow up.insurance was not able to take the claim since it wasnt due to coallition, and oil was clean.mechanic wasnt even sure what happen.i just received a recall notice, now im dealing with a debt of 10000.neither dealer, mechanic or insurace mentioned anything on recalls.

My car started burning oil much more frequently after it hit 120k miles.the light would come on to add a quart of oil every 1500 miles.the car now has 145k miles on it and the oil light comes on after 500-600 miles, which seems much too frequent.the car is only 6 years old and i would expect it to last another 50k miles but i'm concerned that there's something wrong with the engine that's causing it to burn so much oil so quickly.

The contact owns a 2014 audi a4. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 18v229000 (engine and engine cooling) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the parts were unavailable for the repair. The manufacturer further stated that they were working with nhtsa to have the parts available in november of 2018; however, there was no guarantee that the parts would be available at that time. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

I was never notified of a recall and now my engine is bad.

2.0t engine burned 1qt of engine oil every 800-900 miles. This cause a lot of bro lemme by adding oil and environmental.

This vehicle is needing a quart of oil every 300-400 miles. It's a 6 year old car, there is something seriously wrong with audi engine design. A quart of oil every 300-400 miles is completely unacceptable. Since day 1 this vehicle has had an oil consumption problem now at 75k miles and the problem just continues to get worse.

The water/coolant pump has failed 3 times in the past 12 months leaving the vehicle disabled on the side of the road after overheating. Each time, it is the same issue where the way this pump was cast has an internal failure that causes the connection port to radiator tubing to pull apart and the gasket overheats and fails. Audi certified dealer service have told me it is an engineering flaw which audi fails to recognize and redesign for a recall despite seeing countless other a4's with the same complaint from this body style year. Each time, vehicle is running on a highway. This first happened in 2017 at 52,000 miles and most recently happened august 13,2018 at 84000 miles. The second event happened may 2018 with 69000 miles

I purchased this car new from a dealership in oct 2014 and after several months i was parked with the engine turned off when another vehicle started to back into my parked car. I attempted to blow my horn as a warning when i discovered that the horn will not blow (sound) if the engine is not turned on! this is clearly a safety issue. When i asked the dealership they described this as "a feature' of the audi. I asked if they could wire my horn so it would blow when the engine was shut down and they said the wiringwas too complex to make that change!this is clearly a safety issue an if my car is stalled i will not be able to blow my horn, or get attention forhelp or warnings.

I want to complaint about the brake light of all the new audi cars, because those led lights are just way too harsh and dazzling. I know making those light be bright is good to caught other drivers' attention. However, audis are doing it too much. Every time i stopped behind an audi, i felt dizzy and could not open my eyes.

I had received a recall june of 2018. It states that my car can essentially start on fire. I went on the audi website and found out they are servicing the vehicals right now for the after run coolant pump, but hope to in the fall. This being said; do i just have to wait and pray that my car doesn't start on fire or ? that's not safe, and i didn't pay thousands of dollars to hope my car doesn't start on fire till the fall.

Because of the odor of gasoline for several weeks, i had asked the dealer to investigate and what the reason was, if any. He called to tell me the fuel pump was leaking and that i should replace it for safety reasons such as gasoline coming in contact with the exhaust manifold. The pump was replaced by them. A copy of the receipt has been uploaded.thank you.

On saturday 10/26/2019 as i leftmy office to head home that day from work my epc light and engine mil light in my dashboard came on and the car would not start. I started to smell gas fumes in the car and smoke coming from the back seat like a fire had started. I shut off the car, got out and opened all the doors and as i approached the right side of the vehicle i spotted large amounts of fuel leaking from underneath where the fuel pump is located. I called my authorized mechanic as he has dealt with my vehicle before and he came and diagnosed the vehicle, hooked it up to his computer andgave him a few error codes. 1 was for the fuel pump, another for the after run coolant pump. He informed me that there was a malfunction within the electric fuel pump itself that's causing the issue and that's why fuel started leaking all over the floor underneath the vehicle where the fuel pump is located. He also alerted me to a service bulletin that showed up on his computer that showed a recall for the same fuel pump issues related to my vehicle as well as several others. We immediately called a tow truck to get it back to his shop. Upon further inspection after he removed the rear seat to get to the fuel pump it revealed exactly what had occurred. The fuel pump and the electronic connectors connected to the pump along with the seal had burnt out causing fuel to spill everywhere and flood the entire unit as well as my back seat where a small spark from the ignition when started almost caused a small fire under the seat which could of erupted bigger. Luckily it did not explode or got any worst and out of control. This is a serious safety risk and needs to rectified immediately before myself or anyone else gets hurt. My car has been well maintained since i purchased it in 2015 and just hit a little over 50k miles, never missed an oil change, yearly inspections and tune up.

This is the 4th time i will have to replace my gas pumpand /or my 3rd engine in my 2014 audi a4. My epc light turns on then my car violently shakes and then it cuts off. I originally took in my vehicle to the town audi dealership at 43,995 miles on november 28th, 2017 complaining of cvt hesitation and delaying before engaging between gear shifts but occurring more on inclines and downslopes. They claimed they could not replicate the issue and that what i was experiencing might have been the delay the transmission that is also turbocharged, makes normally. Unconvinced and still experiencing the same symptoms and jerking now at low rpms, and growling metal noise accelerating on incline, i took it in again at 46,053 miles on february 5th, 2018. This time again, they could not replicate the issue. Finally, on november 12th, 2018 i take it in again complaining of the same issues, this time im at 55,553 miles and out of warranty. They were apparently able to replicate it this time and advised me that i needed a new transmission. This isn't the first time that audi is under the scope regarding faulty cvt transmissions, this car is a month shy of 5 years, value of the car in its condition is 14,000 roughly and this is at least a 10,000 repair, on a 55,553 mile engine! because of the transmission's hesitation and jerk, conditions in nyc during the snowstorm this past week made driving even more hazardous and anxiety driven, as my car kept rolling back after being at a full stop and slowly accelerating to move forward, only to have to break in a slow pumping manner in order to prevent a hard stop that would cause me to slide in reverse and collide with the vehicle behind me....several times during a 5 hour commute that would only take 30 mins normally. Audi should be liable to cover repairs on their faulty transmission.

My 2024 a4's 8 speed automatic will not always shift into 8th gear. I've went 18 miles before it finally shifted into high gear. I was even going down a long hill at 60 mph and it would not shift into high gear. This seems to happen more when the transmission is cold. You can see what gear its in by shifting the gear lever over into manual mode. I also noticed it will shift into high gear faster if you let up on the gas pedal after you reach 50 or more mph. My car has the drive select option ( comfort, auto, and dynamic modes)it doesn't matter which mode its in, i still have the problem.i noticed this last year and it is still happening.

I released thedriver's side seat belt pushing the red release mechanism after i parked my car and turned it off. When i returned to the vehicle i discovered the seat belt had, in fact, not retracted but had twisted itself into the holder. I was unable to free it. It would not pull out or rewind. Audi charged me the repair. When i objected stating it was a defect in the product and as it is a safety item that is required by law to be usable, the safety belt should have been warranted for the life of the vehicle. I was told audi doesn't do that. As they did not quote me or tell me the item was not under warranty, they reduced the charge to half the amount they wanted to be paid. It should be that all seat belts are under warranty for the life of all vehicles except when it has been obviously cut off/vandalized. Years ago i had a honda that had a seat belt issue and honda repaired it at no charge. Thank you.

The parking break malfunction light keeps coming on and off for the past few months. Last year the malfunction light came on and i was unable to release the parking break. My car had to be towed to mechanic for reviews. The light is now back; on and off for several months. I fear using my parking brakes.

Buildup of rust on pad wearing surface. Complained about lack of brake performance since lease start.

The contact owns a 2014 audi a4. While driving various speeds, the power steering would suddenly fail. During the failure, the message "steering defective do not drive" would display. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

My new 2014 audi a4 quattro premium plus has a severe and extremely hazardous steering issue where the car drifts left to right and right to left at all speeds but is more pronounced at highway speeds. This car is a hazard to drive.

The front wheel bearings were making noise @ 76,756 miles, while driving on the open road, so both were changed out. Upon checking the internet i found tsb no. 401548 referring to the problemin many audi models from 2009-2016. With this extensive problem, a recall should be enforced. A month later @ 78998 miles the electronic rack and pinion steering started to make a rubbing noise when turned, sitting or traveling andan on board red notice came up indicating steering problem seek professional help. The unit was electrically diagnosed with a failed air bag clockspring and an electronic steering gear assembly.the codes were entered and the rack and clockspring were reprogrammed to the vehicle once installed, solving the problem. This also seems to be an inherent problem in this vehicle, since the mechanic had know of two other already this year. The car did drive fine with the old rack and pinion in it.

While in a turning motion thru a water puddle, the steering defective warning light came up on the dash and the steering was very stiff at slow speed. Error was analyzed as a defective electric steering rack and pinion. One year ago this same problem arose and it was corrected with a used rack, because a new one could not be found, such is the case at the current time, only used racks are available, which did not work out well the first time and the lead time on a new rack is 3 months. I submitted a complaintnumber: 11300855 on the same exact problem a year ago. I feel audi needs to address this serious problem with the rack p/n 8k1 423 055ba or any other that fit this description. The internet has plenty of audi forums about this moisture problem, since the rack is conducive to weather related conditions that short out control module, leaving the rack with no electric power assist. The module is integrated into the rack with no way to just replace just that part, leaving you with a $3000.00 bill.

Rack and pinion, steering locked up

I was driving in the city, going at about 45 mph, then a light came on on my dashboard that said "dynamic steering: system fault. You can continue driving" . The steering wheel got a little stiff, but the i was able to keep driving. The next day, about half a mile from my house the same light turned red while i was driving at 35 mph. The steering wheel became really hard to move, almost impossible to turn to either side. Contacted audi and they said to take the car to the dealer.

This vehicles electromechanical steering system will not hold the vehicle in a straight line. The steering wanders extremely bad when at highway speeds. When making steering corrections the car will continue to travel in the direction of the last correction even when the wheel is returned to dead-center. This issue is amplified if there is any amount of wind/cross winds. The vehicle will literally allow itself beblown almost into the next lane when holding the wheel straight and at times with strong wind will even do this when compensating by turning the wheel against the push of the wind. It is nearly impossible to hold a line without constant corrections to the steering angle. This issue should be corrected by audi via a firmware update or some other corrective measure.in my opinion this makes the vehicle very unpredictable and at times very unsafe to travel on the highway with. If the car is hit by a strong cross wind it will drive the car "sideways" into the opposite lane or breakdown lane.

I bought this 2014 audi a4 used in 1/2019. The car seems to have major steering and suspension issues. Although i've had it checked by professionals multiple times,?aligned multiple times, and tires rebalanced multiple, no one can determine the problem. It's hard to control the car on freeways. Sometimes it seems impossible to keep the car in a straight line. The car wanders all over the freeway. It's very dangerous. Unfortunately i'm unable to sue using the lemon law because i bought it used.

Vehicle can suddenly and without warning become very difficult to steer. Sometimes it is nearly impossible to turn. Other times it alternates between loose and stiff, making it extremely dangerous. I have had many near-collisions in this state.

Steering wheel doesnā€™t want stay center. Kicks left or right, in a kind of ā€˜notchyā€™ way. Almost feels like it wants to click from side to side and wonā€™t stay centered. Vehicle was recently aligned and utilizes all oem parts.

I bought a new 2014 audi a4 and noticed immediately, once i hit freeway speeds, the car would not track straight. Once centered in the lane and releasing the steering wheel the car started to drift either left or right in that than 5 seconds. The direction if the drift seems to be dependent on the direct of the last course correction. If i had to turn left to center the car in the lane then it would wander left when the wheel was released, if the last course correction was right then it would wander right.i brought the car into the dealer and they could not find any problems mechanically and it had the latest software flash. I was told it was performing as designed. The senior technician was well aware of the problem but audi's tech center could notrecommend a fix at this time.

At highway speedsthe steering becomes stiff when changing lanesand it does not respond to going back to the center of lane right away it gives resistance it wants to keep going on to the last direction the steering was going it has gradually gotten worst even on city streets normal driving i could feel resistance the steering feels stiff and heavy the steering wanders from straight path on highway the steering sometimes goes against direction you want car to go causing a moment of panic god forbid a fatality occurs took it to serviceaudi driving test we came back they did diagnostic they saidthe computer says nothing wrong it seems to me they set computer with low safety standard they are trying to cover this up someone of authority needs to step in and hold them accountable i see many same complaints on consumer websites please helps us against this potential and fatal hazard.

Vehicle all of a sudden had a warning light with the steering while driving and wheel stopped turning. This was very dangerous due to the fact that the vehicle was in motion eventually started turning back after i stopped the car and put on hazards and kept playing with steering but was still very difficult to steer. Had to tow vehicle to audi and took a week and a few days with the car. Now after i got it for only a few days my oil sensor has gone bad after i asked them to check everything. I find this very strange

After picking up my new a4 and reaching highway speed, i noticed the steering was wanting to wander. After getting home i went online and read other owners same complaints on this web page. I drove the car again yesterday and noticed the audi drive select feature was mainly causing the problem. If i selected the dynamic or sport mode it would started to wander off. In the other two modes it seemed to be pretty normal. This might be ok on the race track where your making turns all the time, but for normal driving it stinks. Audi needs to look into this right away.

The contact owns a 2014 audi a4. While driving approximately 45 mph, the steering lost power without warning. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

Our brand new a-4 has a steering problem on the highway.it requires constant corrections to keep it going in a straight line.it has caused me to drift into other lanes and the berm.we had an a-6 that was so easy to drive, then an a-3 that is so fun to drive, but we have nothing but regrets after buying this a-4.

The steering locks up out of no were while driving making it seem like power steering failureand gives you a stuck then let go feeling. I'm a mechanic and have come to find out the steering universal joints seized and rusted bad making it well not steer smooth it's very dangerous and a car only 6 years oldwith 80000 mile should not have an issue like that but it's very very common after research

The contact owns a 2014 audi a4. While driving 65 mph, the steering wheel veered to the left and right without warning. The contact had to grasp the steering wheel tightly to keep it from drifting. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering shaft failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.

My a4 constantly pulls to the right.i have replaced the tires, the rotors and brakes, and had audi do an alignment.the vehicle still pulls to the right.

Over the course of the last 3-month to current. Sometime, the steering wheel becomes loose while driving (easily moves no response), like it is un-aware of where the front tires are or the steering disengages with the car, then it catches and turns into the lane and realizes the position of the steering wheel. I believe this is called "notchy." on-going, from day to day.

Recall 19n4audi sent me a letter stating that repairs are necessary on my car due to a defect in manufacturing.however the 'repair recall' will not be available until" late 2018'. Oh yeah, the defect relates to motor vehicle safety!!they also provide a warning not to park my vehicle indoors as a precaution. So , based upon my understanding of their letter, i am not to garage my car until it is repaired sometime in late 2018 !!the closing sentence givestheircompany credit for taking this action to ensure my safety, however the action is not even definitively scheduled!! at the very least this defect should be prioritized and at the very minimum should be a definite date to repair theses cars.the same closing sentence gives audi credit for 'taking this action' to ensure my continued satisfaction with my vehicle.how disingenuous!!i can tell you that satisfaction has been shaterred.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*pm
