Received recall notification at the beginning of april.i called both customer service and the auto manufacturer.their response is that they do not have a timeline for the parts to come in and therefore, it will take time to repair or replace the air bags.toyota dealt with this problem quickly.why is it taking audi so long to repair this defective air bag.what happens if i was to get in an accident and i injured due to this defective air bag and it wasn't replaced asap. Call to audi customer service, spoke to judith and audi manufacturer service spoke to adam.both said that they had no timeline as when they will receive the parts and when they will repair the cars.this is totally unacceptable. The 60 days are long overdue.

Takata inflator:for at least 2 years, if not more, we have received recall notices from audi usa to call our local service agent and make an appointment to go in and have the airbags changed.we have contacted them asking for an appointment to have this work done on an almost monthly basis and they never have the replacement part.the a4 has been located in humid south florida for all it's life and it is now 10 years old.most importantly, we'd like to hand it down to our teenage daughter, however, we are reluctant until it is fixed.the collection, our local audi dealership has not been able to provide us with the replacement airbags.

I have a 2009 audi a4 cabriolet.i received notice that the airbags were part of the takata recall.i made an appointment at my nearest dealer, and they told me that audi was not fixing the repair.they told me that audi would give me a few thousand toward a new audi, but that was it.i called another dealership a several months later and was told that audi is still not prepared to fix this problem. It's disgraceful of audi.i love my car and want to keep it.they should be forced to fix this problem immediately and they should stand behind their products.my daughter's honda was fixed within a few months of being notified.

Takata recall: i recently learned that both my driver side and passenger side takata airbags were recalled on my 2009 audi a4. I have called and visited two dealerships in person and made over 5 phone calls to the manufacturer to try to get my vehicle's repair escalated, as my vehicle began it's "life" in florida, and humid regions are to be given priority, but to no avail. Audi, the manufacturer, has instructed me to talk directly to dealerships and the dealerships tell me to call audi international. Both are pointing fingers at the other, and no one is doing anything to aid the situation. I have asked for repair, loaner vehicles, a buyback, and have met no results. I no longer want to drive my car, as i do not feel safe, and am saving up for my wedding, so my fiance and i are sharing our other, reliable and safe vehicle, at this time, which has proven difficult. I no longer feel comfortable driving my seven year old little brother around in my car, nor do i feel safe getting behind the wheel. I do not feel comfortable trying to sell my car to another consumer, knowing that it is not safe, and no replacement parts or repair solution is in sight. The dealer estimates january 2017 at best, but claims it's unlikely that takata will respond with parts even by then. We are left with no options except for owning and not driving an unsafe vehicle. The dealer and the manufacturer refuse to take responsibility for the product that they should be able to stand behind. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Takata recallpending repair recall since march 2016.

Takata recalli have been informed by mail, for several years now, that the airbags in my car needs to be replaced due to the recall. The passenger side has been replaced, yet the driver side airbag has not. I am constantly after my dealership to inform me as to the time frame for replacement, but they never have any information. This has been ongoing now for several years. Can anything be done to speed up the process.

Takata recall. Why is it taking takata so long to get an airbag to audi?my car is 7 years old and drivers side airbag is part of this recall. Takata should be working with other manufacturers involved to meet demand. This is a critical item that you expect to save your life, not take it. Seriously they need to get on the ball here.

Takata recall- after lengthy time there is still not a remedy yet available!

I had an accident in my audi a4 convertible and the driver airbag did not deploy. Due to sun glare, i rear-ended a mercury mountaineer with my 2006 audi a4 convertible.i never saw his taillights, i was not messing with the radio or talking on the cell phone.i was not cited, although the accident was clearly my fault.i was the only one in the car. I was wearing my seatbelt and shoulder harness in the correct fashion. My injuries were minor bruising and a rub mark on my neck from the shoulder harness. The accident was a direct hit, practically straight on.the radiator was pushed into the engine.the passenger airbag deployed.the driver airbag did not.the rest of the audi safety features worked - the rear seat rollover protection deployed.the emergency flashers came on.the engine turned itself off.my question is why didn't the driver airbag go off???it was a direct hit.there was no one in the passenger seat, yet that airbag went off.

The car leaks oil. Audi of wilmington refuses to repair it. Purchased it in 2015 and have been trying to get repaired. Bought it from kia of wilmington along with a warranty that was never honored by either. Was told kia never registered the warranty. Also the car was sold with a lifetime warranty that no-one will honor. The driver door has a shortage and the defrost doesn't work. The alarm works when it wants to. I was told there is recall. Can you help

Recently done oil change with synthetic oil (audi recommended) which should last for 10,000 miles before another oil change is needed. Unfortunately after a month and half of driving oil levels are showing half of the oil gone. Engine is making noise and lot of co2 being clogged up. Running heavy causes to use lot of fuel. Feels as if engine may get too hot after eating up excess amount of oil.

Came into the garage in the morning and realized there was oil on the ground. The next day took the car to the shop to have them looked at to see where the oil leak is coming from. After diagnosis the result was that rear main seal needs to be replaced with the pcv valve. Total price is about $1500. I did not have any check engine light and this seems like it is a known issue with audi vehicles where the pcv valve is over pressuring the engine and causing gaskets/seals the blow. I believe this should be the responsibility of the audi to fix this problems since this is a known issue and has been reported a lot of 2.0t engines.

Timing chain failed on engine while driving causing a complete loss of power.towed to audi dealer who quoted a repair > $ value of the car.car is a total loss.

The high-pressure fuel pump failed, which caused the vehicle to buck suddenly and stall while driving in traffic.

At 70k car was consuming oil every 1k having to top off a liter of oil. Dealer adv this was normal because of turbo engine. Ignored the issue until got worst topping off every 750mi's then to every 200-300mi. Dealer checked & adv needed turbo assy replacement before they would check on the oil consumption issue. Cost to repair $3,925+ tax. Couldn't afford that so lived w/issue for a while. Doing research on internet i found this was a very common problem w/this car/year and there was a class action lawsuit & audi had to pay to repair for this oil consumption issue for free but only if you put the claim in by a certain date.i didn'tknow of this so i complained to the audi dealer but it was too late for my car to be honored. The dealer then would perform a oil consumption test for $300 with a few new seals and bolts.if after the test it still consumed oil rapidly they advised maybe audi corp would honor the repairs or at least help cover a partial amount since i was a dedicated customer getting all my services done at audi. After testing it failed & was diagnosed that i needed new pistons/turbo etc.to fix this. Basically sounded like a new engine.went to audi corp. & submitted the complaint & all showed all receipts of services done to the car to see if they would help honor the repair but end results they didn't do much & was advised by dealer it wouldcost me $7000 to fix. I ended up declining service from the audi dealership & went to a local audi mechanic shop to at least perform the turbo repair & that cost me near $5k. This is a lemon of a car & audi knows it! there should of been a recall for this fix but instead let their customers suffer spending loads of money on repairs.

August 12, 2017 car was parked in a target parking lot. Went to start and car lights and radio came on but engine wouldn't turn over. Also check engine light became illuminated. Next day car was towed to quad cities audi to service dept. Audi service dept finally got around to looking at car on friday sept 1. They state that " found timing to have jumped causing valves to come into contact with pistons and bend." their repair suggestion states " r&r cylinder head and send to machine shop to determine how many valves need to be replaced. Replace timing chains, guides and tesioner." quoted $3,729 to fix, plus $595 for diagnosis. Car is currently at that dealership being worked on.

The car burns 1 quart of oil every 200 miles. Its a well known issue with the 2009 a4 2.0t millions of people are burning gallons of oil in these cars. Its a shame that audi is sweeping this issue under the rug. These cars need recalled.

Since hitting 100k miles, burning unusually high amounts of oil. Every 700 miles have to add 1 qt??mileage is now at 107k and not sure where oil is going.

My audi 2009 a4 is going through a quart of oil every 150 miles.there are no leaks and the car is not driven hard.the more i research the more people i find with the same complaint.dream car has turned into a nightmare.

This past fall, audi replaced my pistons and rings due to a failed oil consumption test.my car would require oil after about 250 miles.within a week of changing the oil at audi i received a warning light.audi at that time decided to replace my pistons and rings.on 12/29 while driving on the highway my car starting rattling very loud and i wasn't able to accelerate.all of a sudden my car stopped running, gray smoke came out of the rear tailpipe and my car turned off.i managed to get over to the shoulder and it looked as if oil has leaked all over the right tire by the passenger side.i had the car towed back to audi for service.they are now telling me it will cost $5000 to fix the car.i feel the since they last worked on the engine they should be responsible for the damage to my car.

Oil consumption is horrible i'm refilling a quart of oil every few hundred miles. I bought the car used and i did receive notice of a recall on the vehicle regarding the oil consumption issue.

Two faulty mis fires caused car to misfire and run rough and jolt.car was towed to the closest audi dealership for repairs.subsequently, within the next 9 months, the care again exhibited close to the same symptoms and the car was again towed to the closest audi dealership. This time, the intake manifold was cracked and was replaced. With a service bulletin out on this vehicle on these exact issues, i was still charged a $250 deductible per incident ($500 total) on my extended warranty to replace both the injectors and the intake manifold.according to the service bulletin, i should not have been charged.

My car was over heating due to a water pump and my timing chain is going and i got a recall letter 2 days later on the timing chain and now my alternator is going out

The contact owns a 2009 audi a4. The contact stated that the oil warning light illuminated. The contact added oil to the engine and the oil warning light shut off. The failure recurred after approximately 250 miles. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the vehicle was burning an excessive amount of oil and the rings and valves of the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

We bought two 2009 audi a4's for our children. Last month one went to the the dealer because the engine failed and needed to be rebuilt because of oil consumption issue, while there the dealer informed us that the water pump was failing and needed to be replace. I questioned the dealer and called an independent audi mechanic, both said the same thing, we were lucky it lasted this long audi has known from the beginning that this water pump is flawed and should have been recalled. Now fast-forward to yesterday, my daughter took hers in for an oil change and the mechanic, a different independent audi mechanic, said car was fine except water pump was failing!!!! he said its a known problem and audi is fully aware of it, its a $1200 repair not including the suggested timing belt change.two cars, same exact model and engine, this cannot be a coincidence.please help!!!

I purchased my audi 2009 a4 quattro in oct. 2012.after only one month i had to take it back to the dealer ship to fix.they spend over $2,000 in repairs trying to get the oil consumption down.i continued to have problems with it for the next two years.i have since spent over $6,000 to try and repair the oil consumption problem.due to the financial situations i have still not been able to get the oil consumption problem resolved.on my last trip to the mechanic my oil consumption went from 300 miles per quart of oil to now only 100 miles per quart of oil.this is a known issue all over the united states and yet when i contact audi they say it is normal wear and tear.audi should be help accountable for selling faulty vehicles and avoiding a recall to try and save their name and their profits.i have many problems with the vehicle cutting out or not producing full power.at times it will seize or not start at all.

In august 2015 with 66k miles my audi experienced a turbo failure which, because of the oil consumption class action, was replaced by my local audi dealer free of charge. They then performed the oil consumption procedures and while they cited redoing piston rings and some other seals, the oil light issue is still present. An important note here in regards to braman audi who handled this service...when they did the complete block removal in order to handle the piston repairs, they did not replace the rear mail seal that is apparently known to fail around 75k miles, so there i was dropping another $1500 for a rms replacement of a $50 part because the audi certified dealer didn't think to replace what's known to fail before reassembling the block. Here we are now about 2.5 years later and with 94k miles, and my timing chain has failed inside the block and i'm being told my entire engine might be toast. How can you possibly claim an oil consumption issue that causes turbo and piston failure, and not cover the timing chain that runs the whole system?this is ludicrous, has cost me significant time and money while the car itself isn't worth but maybe $6k. Now i'm looking at a chain replacement at $2k or a whole new engine at $10k plus. Might as well put a sticker on the new audis that says the car will have negative value after 65k miles.my car now won't run at all and has been at the mechanic for months waiting for someone to step up and take responsibility, manufacturer or dealer, either way they are both aware of major flaws in their manufacturing and do nothing about it. Sounds like consumer fraud to me.

This car has been a nightmare .. After basically having the engine rebuilt due to an oil consumption lawsuit that had been an ongoing problem since 19,000 miles and just been bandaided up with excuses from the dealership, but now the vibrations are blamed on the motor mounts. Will the crap just ever end? or will i fix the mounts and we can point the finger at something else. It just seems like there is no end.. Personally this car should have been recalled with all the issues- something just didn't happen for them in 2009 apparently. The motor mounts should have never gone bad in this vehicle at this point being the high end car they claim to manufacture..i would love my car if it ran correctly- and since 19,000 miles it hasn't - that is sad. I know what this company is capable of .. And this is just bs.

Purchased vehicle 8/15/19 at select motors inc, smyrna tn. Clean car fax report. Ongoing oil consumption issues. Intake camshaft locked up following oil consumption test at audi of nashville. Not driveable now. Audi of nashville quoted cylinder head and associated parts, timing chain, tensioner, cam adjuster and pistons. Tsb-2027731-8 brought to my attention. Engineering defect with pistons a known issue. Contacted audi of north america. Unwilling to provide financial assistance. Car beyond the 8year/80,000 mile extended warranty they offered following a class action lawsuit. Paid cash at purchase, put roughly 2,000 miles on the car and and being told will need to spend an additional $10,000-$13,000 to get the car running again for a known engineering defect with the pistons audi is unwilling to classify as a recall.

While driving the car came to a complete stop and had to be towed to a garage - it did not start again.after investigationthe tensioner failed causing piston and valve damage which equals an engine replacement!no insurance coverage and when i picked up the car - there was another one coming in for the same issue!

Driving home from work, all of a sudden my vehicle was revving while it was idle and at low speed, making it very difficult and dangerous to steer the car and keep it under control.upon inspection, it was found that the timing chain tensioner had failed and had caused serious engine damage, causing the pistons to fire prematurely.previously the tensioner was replaced in 2014 by audi when the car had ~50k miles and was reported as a "weak tensioner".my car currently has 92k miles.i believe that no replacement tensioner should only last 40k miles and cause catastrophic engine failure and put consumers at risk of not being able to control their cars.

Vehicle began to run very rough and started to shake. Parked and stopped engine. On attempting to restart it briefly fired but then died and stalled. Subsequent attempts to start the vehicle resulted in it turning over with no apparent firing. Vehicle was towed to the audi dealer and we were informed it was due to timing chain slip. It appears from information online that the timing chain tensioner in this 2009 b8 2.0t engine is defective. The head and pistons were all damaged and the engine was declared unrepairable by the audi dealer. Dealer charged $1300 for inspecting the pistons and wants $13,000 for a new engine. This vehicle had replacement piston rings out of warranty but at no charge to us due to the known excessive oil consumption issue (for which there was a class action lawsuit). Audi increased the engine warranty from 4 to 8 years as part of settlement of this class action, but only in respect of failures related to the excessive oil consumption issue. Audi maintains that this issue is unrelated but the dealer service manager told me that anecdotally she's seen several such failures after piston ring replacement (i have this interaction recorded on video). Searching online shows that there are several websites selling replacement timing chain tensioners to replace the defective part that audi uses on this engine. Audi refuses to acknowledge any fault on this issue. Red line speedworx website which sells upgrade kits to replace the defective part says that typically this failure occurs at 80k miles plus. Since the standard warranty is 50k miles this means that audi views itself as not liable for these failures. We are filing a lawsuit against audi over this issue.

Engine coolant and engine light etc came on. The vehicle was on the highway. I have a small child. Based on the audi message my vehicle could catch on fire.please send me info to have this problem corrected.

The contact owns a 2009 audi a4. While the vehicle was parked, the contact found oil spills under the vehicle. While driving at various speeds, the engine warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact mentioned there was a burning odor of oil coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear main seal of the engine's crankshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000. The vin was not available.

Since the moment i purchased this vehicle in 2012, i've had nothing but constant issues. This vehicle has stopped in the middle of the street on the freeway (surprised i was not hurt because of this). I've had engine lights on, check oil level lights on, alternator going bad, esp lights on, bearings replacement. You name it, its happened. I took my audi in for an appraisal and turns out the transmission is going bad, had warranty and audi services did not mention any issues with my transmission, wasn't until my warranty had expired when i found this out. This vehicle should be recalled.

My car jump timing today. I first had and oil consumption issue with new piston and rings installed. And in 2015 and rear main seal went out. Now in 2016the motor jump timing pulling out of the garage this morning. Great plastic timing chain tensions audi refuse to ammit they a junk. Thanks audi for a great quality car.

I been doing a lot of research and i seen that there are many vehicles that the "add 1 quart of oil light to keep driving" light comes out. Many have said is a pistons problem that need to be recalled by audi.the light warning comes out randomly every month. There are no leaks in my vehicle. I have two buy 3 bottles in oil every month. The light comes on when i'm driving.

I purchased from a dealership with warranty and with in the week the car needed a quart of oil, i come to find out the car has been to audi dealership and it was advised the vacuum pump needs to be replaced and that the engine is consuming oil, the dealership that sold this car in auction to the dealership i bought the car from was fully aware of this issue since audi diagnosed it for them and no work had been done. Audi had a call back for this issue and had refused to address the issue when the dealership brought it to their attention and now i am stuck with a car loan on a car that need over $6k in repairs to the engine it self.

The coolant reservoir would empty resulting in the coolant light coming on. The car wouldn't drive past around 45mph. There were no visible leaks on the ground at the time. The audi dealership stated they found air in the system, but no leaks. They pressure tested the cooling system and pulled vacuum on cooling system, found both ok. Drained all coolant and replaced with new coolant and evacuated all air bubbles. They replaced coolant reservoir cap with oem cap. They found the car working to audi standards. After driving the car a couple days the problem returned. The audi dealership checked for codes (note that the previous invoice didn't indicate whether they checked for codes or not). They found code for coolant temp sensor, test drove the car, checked temp of coolant hoses & found only top radiator hose getting hot. They replaced the water pump/coolant temp sensor/thermostat housing assembly (all one part). They filled and bled cooling system. They test drove, rechecked and found the car working to audi standards. (sidenote: we paid for a replacement water pump assembly in 2013, but we were outside the 12,000 mile warranty on that service.still, this part shouldn't be so poorly designed to need replacement again so soon.) the problem returned, but this time the engine overheated and we had to tow the car back to the audit dealership. They are now saying the coolant issue is due to a blown head gasket (but why didn't they find this before?). Each time, my children were in the car and we could've been in an accident due to a slowed or stopped vehicle. My trust in audi dealership's service department is completely gone since they are continuously charging to fix a problem without fixing the problem. My confidence in audi corporate's customer service has diminished because they are very robotic in their response to the matter. We won't purchase an audi ever again.

Oil consumptioni had this car since 2012 and found out recently about oil consumption class action lawsuit through the internet, when my car started consuming copious amounts of oil. The owner manual says a quart per ~1,200 miles, but i'm getting oil light at about 400 miles after service at the dealership. I spoke with multiple dealerships including the dealership i'm currently doing every 10k maintenance with and none have actually helped me out since i'm out of warranty of 80k. I spoke with audi corporate and they say they will review when they get to my case which is pretty much never. They keep telling me to take my car in to do phase 2 oil consumption which is going to be a several grand repair. I did phase 1 out of pocket roughly 1,700 and they fixed pcv breather valve, seal and updated software after i replaced the pcv breather valve recently, but they said the valve is old, so they replaced with newer one, but still pretty much doing the same thing and that's consuming oil.audi corporate say they will "review" my case which pretty much means i pay out of pocket and then they'll see which i doubt. This car is literally a headache never buying an audi again. Audi is crooked and they do not want to repair even though they know about these problems. I know they're trying to bait me into repairing the car further which will ultimate lead to a 10k engine replacement and that's not going to happen not on my dime.

2009 audi a4 was recalled for oil consumption issues. Rebuilt in march of 2014. July 2015 timing chain tensioner failed causing timing chain to jump and drop a valve.car is now sitting at audi dealership with an unfixable engine.there are hundreds of examples of this part failing after oil consumption rebuild.this as a defect and very dangerous because car just stops running.audi will not take any responsibility despite the mounting facts against the part.

Driving vehicle and it started shaking.got the car home and when i shut it off and turned it back on it rattled and sounded like metal. I was able to get it to the dealership. I had it checked by mechanic and he told me that the timing chain and tensioner were the problem and i was just two months out of warranty. The next day the dealership called to tell me i needed new cylinders because the car would not start.quoted me $7,500 to repair.i do not qualify for the class action suit because my car did not break until after the window closed.audi knew about the failure and did nothing to warn owners.

I owned the 2009 audi a4 quattor. My car has a serious oil consumption problem around 350 miles per qt. I did a lot of research online. Also, when i type audi a4 2009, then i can find a lot of people are talking about the oil consumption problem. And i did research from my friends who own the a4 and ask about some information. I know many, many the same issues also in china, taiwan, german and usa. Therefore, i cannot understand why this car did not recall!!! or help us who owned the a4. I got some information from two different car shop. The data shows audi a4 and s5 between 2009-2011 have a lot of issue about the oil consumption problem in the usa. I know the car is not recall, but is there any way can help the audi ownerto keep this car?

Engine burned excessive oil and was still under warranty. During the servicing in august 2013, was informed that this is normal oil consumption. About 2qts between servicing. I also informed that i occasionally smelled burning oil and advised the tech to look for leaks. Was told no problem found. After the warranty expired in 2013, took it for servicing in 08/01/2014 and dealer informs that cam seal is leaking and is a $1000 fix. This time i was told that i may smell burning oil!! my car at present has less than 22,000 miles!i have noticed the other people bring up the issue of excessive oil consumption and the service dept provides a bogus answer. I believe nhtsa should compel audi to fix issues on defective designs regardless of mileage or warranty. It is highly unethical to charge customer for thousands for a known defect and that too right the year after the warranty has expired. I believe the dealership hid the cam leak to avoid the cost to audi during the warranty period. I appreciate any help regarding this issue. Just brought the car at 111,000 miles.just paid $170 dollars for an oil change at 111,000 miles. Oil light came on at 111,500 miles. One quart low on oil.these cars should be recalled. Own a 2005 audi a4. And will sell my car now and never buy a junk [xxx] audi again. Fix your junk! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

The timing chain tensioner failed causing the audi interference engine to become out of sync resulting in the engine becoming totaled. This has become a common occurrence and is widely reported on 2009 and newer models. Below is an article with their assessment of the situation. The car had been taken in 2x for misfires and was diagnosed as an issue with the spark plugs, it is now clear that this was the timing chain being out of alignment and missed. Upon the engine light coming on the car was left parked until the day before the service appt when it was to be dropped off at the service location, at that time, upon starting the vehicle the timing chain tensioner failed and caused the engine to fire out of alignment damaging the engine. When speaking to a member of the audi dealership it was shared that another vehicle is in for the same issue and that they are seeing this occur more and more in their vehicles.this failure is also reminiscent of the 2007 class action law suit which prompted audi to move from a timing belt to the for the same outcome occurring. Http://redlinespeedworx.com/2-0t-tsi-timing-chain-failure/if audi had placed out updated parts, i would like to know why there was no recall to replace the part or anything mentioned by the manufacture indicating the release of updated hardware to address a "potential issue"

Vehicle burns a quart of oil every 150 200milesit's very common and several years many complaints on the internet

This car is burning oil in a extremely danger speed

Driving vehicle home and it started shaking got the car home and when i shut it off and turned it back on it rattled and sounded like metal i turned it off and then i turned it on again and this time it didn't turn on at all i had it checked by mechanic and he told me that those audi and that year had an oil consumption problem and so he checked the engine with a diagonate machine and it said chances are there can b major engine problem it said the machine said the chain jump and could have cause piston and rod places sad car is in great shape and looks good and has low mileage now it needs a engine replacement

Rear main seal fell out of engine.

I have obtained this car as a used car.engine oil was changed one week after i have the car at a mechanic shop. Three weeks (about 500miles driving) later, a low engine oil alarm sounded. I brought the car back to the same mechanic shop and add a quart of oil to the engine. A couple weeks later, i was driving the car to a road trip. The low oil alarm sounded again. This was in the middle of my road trip when i was driving in the highway (about 500miles since last oil addition) at about 75mph. I have to get off the high way right away and went to a local mechanic shop to top off the oil. I was told by a mechanic that this is dangerous because if i couldn?t find a mechanic shop in time to add more engine oil, the engine would have been overheated, locked, and forced to stop right away. Under this scenario, a serious collision with the cars behind or next to me might be caused if driving on the highway. Upon research, it was discovered that this abnormal amount of engine oil consumption has been a common problem/complaint in this model of car due to the defects in the piston rings. In most cases, the piston rings were replaced under the manufacturer warranty. My car is just out of warranty with 57k miles on it. The dealer should be responsible fixing this problem as it is a serious safety problem and it was defected from the manufacturer.

When i called the nearest dealer for a scheduled maintenance for 55000 miles, i was informed of a recall involving the camshaft. By phone, they told me that there was no charge for this work and it would take about two hours. I delivered the vehicle at 8 am and at 11 am i received a call. They said that they would begin the recall work, but it was a recall that involved the 50000 mile warranty. I was nearing 55000 miles, but they would due the work under warranty. At 2 pm, i was informed that there was internal damage to the engine and they would need to keep the vehicle for several days. They provided a rental car until they completed the work. My complaint is that i never received any notice??? the service manager told me that the issue with the camshaft problem went out in june 2011. That was one month after the maine dealer performed my 35000 mile maintenance!!!the point is that the longer i drove the vehicle, the worse the problem progressed. They said that eventually, i would loose the engine.

Used oil, 1 quart per 450 miles. It was determined that the piston rings needed to be replaced. It is leaking and burning oilcar is 3.5 years old 72k miles. I was told and from what i've read this is a common theme with this car.

This audi was a lemon from the start and botched repairs at the dealer have only made it worse.one the 2nd day we owned the car the oil light came on and we had to return it to the dealer for more oil.over the next 2 years the car burned an excessive amount of oil starting at 1 qrt every 2500 miles and deteriorating to 1 qrt every 800 miles. All along the dealer told us this was "normal".in may 2011, dealer told us that audi had initiated a testing program and if the car failed they would do something.in june 2011, the car failed test and the dealer kept the car for 3+ weeks conducting major engine surgery.6000 miles later we took the car in for routine maintenance and they said they wanted to do routine warranty work.in the course of this work, they destroyed the timing chain and pistons of the car.1 week later the transmission failed.in talking to audi technicians at other dealers (off the record) they say that the oil problem is a design problem and that the fixes are simply bandaids. Appears that the 2012 model has been redesigned to fix the engine flaw.the net effect is that the car has visited the audi dealer on at least a monthly basis since we bought it and has spend more than 8 weeks in major "warranty related" engine repairs.to top it off, audi has complimented this "worst in class" product experience with a "worst in class" customer service experience as audi america 1-800 people have been consistently either robotic or rude in talking with us about this issue.most recently, they made a lame offer to reimburse us for towing expenses and extend the warranty on this dubious car for another 12 months.amazingly, they refuse to pu t the offer in writing until after acceptance.presumably so that they can avoid legal issues.please help.i am sure i'm not the only one suffering this.

After having my car for a year, it started to burn through oil at an increasing rate.currently it is going through about 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles.i have taken the car in a few times to check for leaks or try to determine the location where it is going and have just been told that this model engine goes through at a faster pace and has been a common complaint amongst customers.in addition to this i have dealt with having to get the sunroof re-lubricated every few months, dealing with rattles in the doors, warping of the interior (dash, door panels, seat backs), and a one-time failure with the door latch not working during cold temperatures.

I own a 2009 audi a4 with 63,000 miles. The audi dealer change the pistons and rings in my vehicle due to an oil consumption problem two weeks ago. On november 4, 2014 my check engine light comes on and the car is idling up and down constantly when at a stand still. The service department informed me that the intake manifold failed internally and wants to charge $935 plus tax to repair. Under second opinion i was informed that this is a part is highly unlikely to fail and should have been inspected with the piston repair work was completed. Dealer claimed that they road tested the vehicle and everything seem fine. Contacted audi usa to see if they will help, i have been a customer of audi for 13 years.

Right mirror turn signal light failed

I have a 2009 audi a4, with 26k miles. The left headlight works intermittently. The dealership stated that i need to replace the bulb, but on further research i have found that several other folks have had the same issue. This is a major safety issue and there appears to be a defect that the manufacturer is not covering in the warranty. Can you please help resolve?

Headlight dipping warning comes on. Multiple complaints to audi and on other forums with others having same problem. This is a vehicle safety issue due to headlight going out during random times while driving. Audi is fully aware that over 70 percent of its a4s has this problem which is a major concern and refuses to fix or recall the lights. This can happen on a new vehicle per many peoples complaints online.

I was driving my new 2009 audi a4 which had less than 3500 miles on it at the time when first the transmission changes began to be very abrupt. I thought nothing of it at first and traffic on the westside highway in new york city was fairly congested so the speeds were not that high. Suddenly, the transmission stops shifting all together and all the lights car's dashboard turn on before the engine simply shuts off i roll to a halt in the center lane of the westside highway and use the battery to turn on my hazard lights. I repeatedly tried to restart the engine and it would start for about a second before the whole car began to vibrate heavily before the engine would shut down. The police were called and they escorted the tow-truck off the highway.the car was locked in the tow-truck depot until the next morning when it was given to the audi service department where they ran tests and determined that the fuel pump had broken. They replaced the pump and the car was returned to me a few days later.

The high-pressure fuel pump failed, which caused the vehicle to buck suddenly and stall while driving in traffic.

My car has a leaking high pressure fuel leak from the high pressure hose right at the top of the engine block at the rear of the engine.the steel line connects directly to the filter and is leaking from the stainless steal line.the power steering metal hose lines are incorrect from the factory and do not supply enough pressure in the line to keep the steering wheel from a very harsh low speed shudder when turning.the lower control arm bushings fail at very low mileage.none of these issues have been acknowledged on this year car. This model audi is an absolute lemon having multiple issues and extreme repairs and huge costs when trying to fix them.i have the paper work for these fixes and what it takes to repair them correctly.i have already had this car repaired from audi for the piston ring oil failure which they had to replace per the lawsuit they were hit with and still denied any wrong doing.please force this company to right these issues they ignored in the face of profits instead of doing right by the consumer.

Engine coolant and engine light etc came on. The vehicle was on the highway. I have a small child. Based on the audi message my vehicle could catch on fire.please send me info to have this problem corrected.

Vehicle began to run very rough / started to shake. Vehicle was then parked / turned off and couldn't restart. The vehicle was towed to the audi dealership where they diagnosed the problem as a faulty chain tensioner. May i add here that i'm being told by the service people that updated chain tensioners are being recommended on newer vehicles. Just prior to the warranty expiration the care was serviced for the oil consumption issue.

Parked in an incline, i attempted to back out of a drive way.i placed my foot on the brake and placed the car in reverse and removed my foot from the brake.the vehicle went forward as if in neutral with no resistance at all.i stepped on the brake quickly to prevent from going through the garage door.although i depressed the accelerator the car was not moving in reverse.i had to get the engine rpm up fairly high to get the car to move at all.it was like i had the parking brake on but if i let up on the accelerator, the car would again roll forward.when the car reached the top of the drive, it quickly grabbed and accelerated.i stepped on the brake quickly but not before i hit a retaining wall behind me.this type of hesitation has also been experienced when in drive.depressing the accelerator does not produce immediate results.then starts to increase rpm's an then the car lunges forward.i have returned it to the audi dealer a few months ago for this exact problem.when the service man moved my car he immediately noticed the condition but it was returned to me "working as designed".for the next 2-3 months, the transmission was as responsive as any other auto but this has changed back to the way it was.updated ivoq 10/26/10

I have two seat belt latches that have failed on the back seat of the car.i use the seat belts to strap my kids and other individuals in the car.it is unacceptable to have two latches fail on a car that is a 2009 model year.

After placing the tongue in the buckle, it will not lock.

I had just gone to the grocery store and was unloading the back seat of the car when i noticed that the seat belt buckles were not visible through the slots of the seats anymore. I tried to feel for them and was unsuccessful. I then noticed that the entire seat was too far forward and the curved part at the back of the seat was no longer tucked to the seat back. As i was trying to see if i could put it back into position the seat completely dislodged from the car and the glue that was supposed to be attaching the seat to the car, the wiring and even part of the car itself was visible.

The steering wheel was difficult to rotate because of a strong resistance to rotation. This behavior was dangerousbecause i could not turn the wheel in normal traffic without extreme force. The audi dealership tested the car and replaced the "intermediate steering shaft" but would not payfor the replacement.a cars steering should work for the life of the car.i quote the servicetechnician's report:'confirmed customer complaint and found the steering was jerky and would not return to center.inspected steering components and found that intermediate steering shaft was binding causing the steering to jerk. Removed and replaced shaft and testedand found car to be operating as designed."i requested the replaced part which i have. (part number 8k1 419 753 f).the part includes two universal joints , one on each end. Each universal joint includes two flexible bearings whichallow the shaft to be free to rotate for change in angular position.one of the rotatingpins was frozen and would not rotate. This is very dangerous and may be occurring on many of this type of shaft. The number of replacements by audi should be identified to determine if a recall inspection is needed.i told audi us headquarters that i would be filling a claim in small claims court. As a result they offered to pay 50% of the $714.70 bill which i accepted instead of waiting five months for ahearing in massachusettssmall claims court.

The contact owns a 2009 audi a4. The contact stated that there was a loud, groaning noise from the power steering. The vehicle was also difficult to turn at slow speeds, especially when trying to park. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the failure was caused by the power steering. The dealer replaced the calibers but the problem continued. The vin was unavailable at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 300. The current mileage was approximately 2,700.

The contact owns a 2009 audi a4.the contact stated that the steering wheel shakes when making turns and while the vehicle is stopped.in addition, the exterior side mirrors are designed with aluminum interior, which projects a glare.the only object that is visible is the dashboard.he took the vehicle to three dealers and they concluded that the steering failure was caused by the control arm clip and the steering lower arm control.replacing the parts would not guarantee that the failure would be corrected.the manufacturer stated that there was no issue with the vehicle, but offered to pay the contact $748 per month until the failure was corrected.the manufacturer refuses to put the agreement in writing.the failure mileage was 1,200 and current mileage was 2,400.

I experience sever shaking of the steering wheel and wheels when turning while parked or moving at a speed below 5mph. This problem has been present since purchasing the car.

Every time i pull out of a parking spot, when i turn the steering wheel (not giving any gas), the steering wheel and the rest of the column shudder, vibrate and make a rumbling noise

The contact owns a 2009 audi a4. While turning at an unknownlow speed, the contact felt unusual vibrations in the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed the vibrations were a normal occurrence with the vehicle. The failure continued to recur and became excessively worse. The vehicle was again taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The failure persisted and the vehicle was taken to the dealer a third time where they redesigned and installed the power steering hose. The vehicle began to function as normal but the failure began to recur approximately 3,000 miles after the new power steering hose was installed. The dealer advised the steering vibrations were a normal attribute to the vehicle. The vehicle was not serviced. The failure mileage was 3,000 and the current mileage was 19,800.

2009 audi a4 avant with 28000 miles on it when the steering became hard to steer at low speed. I drove it to the audi dealer 315 miles from my home. Told that the steering shaft had "seized" and the part was on back order. Might take two weeks or more to repair. I was given a free rental and told that they would be in touch when repaired.

When driving car it becomes really difficult at times to turn the steering wheel. Off and on. I myself almost hit someone when making a turn at around 20 mph, i had to brake and turn with both hands using alot of force. Has happened multiple times with my daughter as well. Started happening the end of last year. Called dealers and they said there are no recalls on vehicle

At low speeds, steering shakes and makes a rumbling noise when turned.

I havetwo2009 a4 have a shudder sound at low speeds while turning wheel5 or 10 mph also when parking a knocking sound when turning wheel. Please help! dealer said thats normal.

When i am backing up, when i turn the steering wheel. The steering wheel and the rest of the column shudder, vibrate and makes a rumbling noise.

I bought the car recently and drove it on the freeway, on the way back home i noticed a shaking/vibration coming from the right side of the vehicle. It made the car very hard to control and staying in one lane was almost impossible.it swerves left to right uncontrollably at random times. I haven't taken it in to any dealership or manufacturer to check it out for me, also there's no warning lights on the dashboard at all. And i believe the owner i bought it from knew of this issue but didn't let me know so i'm really just as in the blind as well. I don't know what else to do because i can't keep driving the car with uncontrollable force and putting kids in danger or anybody else's.

I have recently purchased this card and it has a weird grinding type noise when turning at slow speeds or while parked. Steering shakes and feels like something is about break or is loose at the steering component possible linkage issue.

New car purchase 2009, wheel shimmy noticed in first few days. I asked two other people to drive the car and no one ever felt the shake. I decided to wait until the first check in at 5k, of course the shimmy was more noticeable. The diagnosis is the control arms are faulty and redesigned parts are due to be installed w/in the week. I am not certain how dangerous a faulty control arm is, but i've been pretty disappointed that the car was not perfect.

I was just parking the car and was about 5 mph and suddenly car got accelerated unintentionally to higher rpm and hit the curb and above cement wall . Even applying brakes hadn't slowed down the vehicle because it was just few feet away.

Sun roof drains on right hand side of vehicle have failed (fail to seal out external water like rain) leading to significant quantities of water entering the passenger compartment and draining into various areas of the car during any measurable rain fall.the last rain storm of about 1/3" was enough to cause the following damage.while parked overnight, some of the water pooled in the right rear body column space where the master computer for much of the car is located.the water shorted out the computer and left car inoperable, unmoveable, unusable until it was towed and replaced, this included the purchase of a new computer and its programming and the reprogramming of the car's keys.additionally the water saturated the carpet throughout the car and the seats.the sunroof drain repair was expensive as were the computer replacement and reprogramming.audi has settled a class action lawsuit for leaky sunroof drains for model years 2005-2008, mine is a 2009 so no luck from audi on paying for any of it, and when i called to complain they denied any fault in the matter.

The 2009 audi a4 convertible rear window's adhesive on my car (and others, according to internet/youtube postings) is becoming detached from the top. The only choice owners have is to purchase a new convertible top. Dealers charge between $4500-$6000. Private body shops charge approx. $1600+. While researching the issue, i discovered that it is a relatively common problem with audi convertibles, as confirmed by the audi service rep who informed me of the issue during a service visit. If that is the case, audi should hold the adhesive company responsible for repair, not the audi customer. Purchasing an entirely new top is unreasonable and unfair. My request: audi usa should issue a recall, whether the car is still under warranty or not, at no charge to its customers. Should recoup costs from the adhesive manufacturer. At the very least, customers, at the point of sale, should be warned of the possibility of the defect that happens soon after purchase.

Steering wheel vibration at highway speed. Audi dealer attributed to cupped tires. Bought new set of tires ($864) and same problem. Learned through internet search that audi's have problem with lower control arms. Returned to dealer with tsb 2018121/3. Dealer road force balanced wheels at my expense ($70), dealer said audi wouldn't pay for control arm replacement. I called audi to complain (obtained case no.) because they voluntarily replaced control arms in two long term test vehicles in edmonds inside line fleet after edmonds published articles noting the steering problem (http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtests/2009/07/2009-audi-a4-and-s5-steering-vibration-wrap-up.html). Audi wouldn't agree to replace control arms. Vibration went away for a time but then came back. Condition is fatiguing when driving any length at highway speed.

There is a grumbling/moaning type noise coming from the front suspension. Very noticeable around 20-30 mph and when making slight left and right turns.this is an ongoing problem.

2009 audi a4-makes noise when suspension is moving,so we inspected it and found out on all front upper control arms, the bushings are cracked.if not replaced it will brake, which can cause lost of control and accident.

Right mirror turn signal light failed

Purchased around jan 2013 with apx. 30,000 mi.noticed right away the add oil indicator coming on.after adding a quart of oil a couple of times between oil changes and even taking into the dealership for them to add oil, i questioned the oil consumption of the car knowing that no car uses that much oil between oil changes.the dealership assured me there were no issues at first.after having the dealership do my oil changes and the add oil indicator continuing to come on, i finally stated to dealership there is a problem and it needed to be looked into.after the dealership testing the oil consumption of the car two times, they found there was a problem and repaired it.have had no problems since.records of repair on file.

Engine coolant and engine light etc came on. The vehicle was on the highway. I have a small child. Based on the audi message my vehicle could catch on fire.please send me info to have this problem corrected.

I was just parking the car and was about 5 mph and suddenly car got accelerated unintentionally to higher rpm and hit the curb and above cement wall . Even applying brakes hadn't slowed down the vehicle because it was just few feet away.

On two occasions, april 3, 2012 and april 9, 2012, while traveling with the cruise control set at 78 mph, without touching the control or accelerator, the control setting jumped to 90 mph and the vehicle began to rapidly accelerate.when the brake was applied, the cruise control disengaged.

The windshield wiper blades on my car are horrible.they're very flimsy and thin.they don't do a good job of cleaning up the windshield in rain, and if there is any snow or ice.. They get stuck on the bumps and miss the glass.the wiper blades are "stored" in a pit under the windshield to protect them from the snow and ice... Except the pit just fills with the ice and snow and covers them.. So they are beyond useless now.the defogger on high blast makes the windshield a little better.. But it cant warm the blades.. So they will still keep getting iced up and just scraping across the windshield not doing anything.

Oem wipers provided by audi on 2008.5 a4 model year onwards fill with water/slush and freeze solid in the winter rendering them useless and creating significant driving hazard. Audi has no replacement and is non-responsive. Further, there are no third-party replacement winter-style blades because it is a proprietary blade-arm connector.

The wiper blades on 2009+ model year audi a4 have a channel on the top surface that collects liquid/icy slush and in freezing conditions that liquid freezes making the blade rigid and incapable of clearing the glass resulting in zero visibility. Further, audi is using a proprietary wiper blade mount which means that there are no third party options to install a traditional 'winter' type blade not subject to freezing.i have made multiple requests to audi reporting this problem and hoping for some solution since november 2008 but they seem to have no interest in addressing this issue. It makes driving in winter conditions extremely hazardous. T

"an accident waiting to happen."the outside rearview mirrors block the driver view to the extent that an entire car is many times completely hidden from the drivers' view.they are placed poorly and maybe are too large.maybe if they were lower, or smaller or the drivers seat higher.i am a female of average height and have had a few close calls.i now must rise myself up to see over or around the mirror which is difficult when driving.

During the winter, the 2009 audi a4 windshield wipers freeze.because the wiper recess beneath the hood, you cannot "deice" them or even get to them to clear them.this is a huge hazard!
