'takata recall'i made appointments and registered to get my airbag replaced on numerous occasions. In june i made an appointment at the elmwood park location and when i got their the guy lied and said the computers are down he didn't want to help me. They have the parts available and don't want to fix it it is now 2018 and no one from audi called me and my vehicle is registered with them. So my air bag can rupture at any time i was in a car accident on 1/4/17 i was intentionally rear ended by a white bmw and i was in the car with my 8 year old nephew and mom who was in the front passenger seat i could have been killed and seriously injured. Not only that my gas tank fuel injector the air pressure is off causing it to stop constantly while getting gas. Third i had this p2005 and p2006 error code which is the intake air exchange manifold flap check engine light on which is a manufacturing error when i went to get it replaced costing me 1,800 the light is still on and the same error code is back 2 months later nothing was fixed on my car period and on 10/31/17 i went to audi in upper saddle river and they did not fix it either of find a dealer with the airbag near by that has the parts to replace it tho could have cost me and my passengers their life and this isn't unacceptable for audi to treat customers like that regardless of my vehicle being old new or brought from a third party dealership all audi owners should be treated equally and remedies be address according to law and recall. Being that a safety recall is issued customer preference is null and void because safety and wealth has no bearing in who gets first dibs on airbags no audi owner should get preference over the other whether it be they brought their car directly from the audi dealership or not and that the impression i'm getting and based on my experience not all customers and owner are treated equally

Audi is taking too long to come up with a fix for the 2005 audi a4's that have been recalled due to unsafe passenger-side airbags. Example: [xxx] has been recalled but the listing on nhtsa says that no remedy is available. This is unsafe and unfair to customers.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall - received post card from tk holdings inc. Informing me about the chapter 11 case, and the recall which was instituted on january 11, 2017, of which i was never informed. I am now informed and according to the latest information - recall incomplete remedy not yet available. So, in the meantime, apparently i'm driving a dangerous vehicle.nothing , as of yet, has happened and i certainly will strive to keep it that way.

Car rear ended another car at about 30 mph and the airbags did. Or deploy.

The air bag warning light activated approx. Mid january, 2009.there were no events leading to this failure.since the light originally turned on, it has been continually on, indicating a problem with the vehicles airbag.the vehicle was taken to the dealership, where technicians described this problem as a normal occurrence in the 2005 audi a4's.he stated that this has occurred so frequently that he knew the problem before hooking the vehicle up to diagnostic equipment.this was also confirmed with the service department assistant manager.

I received a recall notice in july 2016, and am still waiting for notice of parts availability

2005 audi a5. Consumer writes in regards to frontal passenger airbag safety recall. *ldthe consumer stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time completing the recall repair. Updated 10/23/2017

After 10 years of use, turning left the rubber wheel bearing on the driver side makes a pop noise. Not from driving erradic but from typical wear and tear.also, there is an mph check engine light that comes on but when plugged up to a code reader, no problems are found. Cars wont pass smog with check engine lights on, so this is a major concern. If there are no mechanical issues why would the check engine light come on? i think computers in luxury cars back then were a bit too advanced for their time and weren't very well thought out.air bag had a random deployment when i popped the hood and unscrewed the pressure on the radiator fluid. Going to need this vin added to the recall for airbags to get a new one.

Takata recall.a recall notice was issued in january 2017 for a takata airbag in this vehicle.i have called two dealers repeatedly during 2017, in ithaca and cicero, however replacement airbags remain unavailable.since i received the recall notice, i have stopped carrying passengers in the front passenger seat of my vehicle.this has impeded use of the vehicle.it is unacceptable to put another person at risk of injury.

Audi has taken no action to remedy the recall on may 27, 2016 for the passenger side air bag (16v382).i have contacted both my local dealership and and audi of america and their response was to continue to wait.i also have a seat belt locking mechanism that had it's plastic covering fall off.i asked for a warranty or good will repair, but was declined due to the age of the car.

Despite the passenger air bag being replaced a few years ago; i continue to get warning light and now is not function.albany audi says there is no recall and it will cost me $150 to diagnose.i have spoken with several mechanics who attest to problems with recalled replacement bags.

Takata recall-as of today, i haven't received any recall or remedy information from the manufacturer

2005 audi a4 quattro was serviced at dealership in nashville tn for a recall of coil packs.afterward the air bag warning light appeared.the car was serviced for the air bag and a switch under the seat was replaced at my expense.two weeks later the air bag light re-appeared. The dealer states that a new sensor is necessary.a search on the internet revealed that many audi owners are experiencing problems with the air bag sensor.this is a defective safety part and should be recalled by audi.

Takata recall. We were first notified in march, 2017 of the frontal airbag recall. The letter from audi at that time advised not to drive with passengers in the front seat and for that reason the car has remained in the garage since that time. Audi initially advised parts would be available in october. I have just been advised there is no remedy for this recall and timing of part replacement is unknown. I have a $35,000 car with 40,000 miles on it that is un-usable. I have spoken with a "customer advocate" at audi usa and filed a complaint with them as well. Please help.

Noticed air bag lights on didnt think quick , also i notuced electrical issue here & there. Engine runs & sounds louder when using a/c. When you go to shut off vehicle theres a loud thump thump noise at the end fir about 3 mins or so , problems starting the engine , back windshield wiper turns on by its self , a week ago the light in the bavk turns on by it self.other engine problems not sure if all tied in together i just started my purchase on 7/21/2020 from a car dealer. Had it checked by 2 people & one said air leak showing from diagnostic machine . My dealer put on machine & said didnt see nothing wrong. Power steering goes out have to fill almost every 2-3 days. My dealer said dont put more cause it could mess up engine. So i didnt & 2 days later driving 15 -20 mph on residential street it starts sounding like its going to stop so i presumed to shut off engine . Chevk under the hood & the power steering fluid was bone dey smoking slightly , &belt was pulled out a& shredded & it wouldnt even turm on enough to get a full start &dealer came & towed it back. Now he saying i need a new engine

Takata recallremedy is not available. We need to get this fixed asap.

Takata recall. I have not been able to drive anybody in my car for 8 months now, unless i want to force them to sit in the back. It is ridiculous that i have not even been told when the airbag inflation will be fixed and/or replaced, and am just told to continue not letting anyone sit in the passengers seat.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.

"takata recall" received letter warning of serious injury or death, and to avoid use of front passenger seat until recall is performed.audiusa, and specifically audi san diego has informed me to continue use of the car because "as to date no issues have occured with audi." (gm san diego audi). This is my husband's and my only vehicle; he drives me to work daily and with bad back front seat is only option.is audi waiting for first death in order to offer remedies such as honda, bmw, mazda, etc.refused by both dealership and audiusa to offer rental car during recall.

Takata recalli have received a letter informing me about the recall about a year ago. Despite my car being in zone a (ca) and 12 years old (additional risk factor) there is still no resolution from audi. Calls to a few audi dealers service department reveal that the part is available. I contacted audi a number of times and they insist that repair is not available and i should contact nhtsa because you manage the schedule.since we have child seat in the back and the passenger seat is unsafe the car is unusable for us as a family; when we travel i have to rent a car. At the same time i cannot sell it with a pending recall.

Takata recall - been awaiting "parts" since 5/27/2016.it is now 1/18/2017. Recall states "inflator could rupture ... After long-term exposure to absolute high humidity and temperature cycling".my vehicle will be 12 years old in 3 months and i live in "hotlanta" ga ("high humidity" is the norm here).i've "avoid(ed) use of the front passenger seat" for 8 months now.our family has grown and now this is not possible any longer.spoke to audi usa today (i call them regularly) and they state they still have no idea on parts availability as "nhtsa is determining the priority of repairs".how my vehicle is not a priority is beyond my comprehension.eight months on a waiting list for a remedy is beyond my comprehension.i had to buy a larger car to fit my growing family and it is now beyond my moral capability to sell this defective vehicle "which may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants" and be able to sleep at night.audi is a big corporation, takata is a big corporation and nhtsa is a big government entity but, i know human beings must still work at both places and somebody, somewhere has apparently decided my life and the lives of my family are somehow not a priority. Eight months without a definitive fix date on a car that's got to be a ticking time bomb at 12 years old in the humid south (yet winters with temps below freezing aka "temperature cycling")... Fix it or require audi to buy it back a-la vw diesel fiasco.

Air bag light is on

Takata recallit has been 3 months since i received an official recall notice and 6 months since the recall was approved.i have called audi several times and have not been able to get a hold of anyone.no response at all.i want to sell the car, but will not in good concience knowign there is a major flaw with a required safety system.

Air bag light on,ran code, states bad igniter ran google search says 2005 a4 qualifies for recall audi dealer states not on list for airbag recall this is a safety issue and should be repaired at no cost to me

Takata recallaudi has persistently denied anything wrong with the air bags and there is no sufficient process to remedy this. I called the dealership and there is no maintenance or service bulletin available.audi headlightsthe left headlight is malfunctioning due to something with the adaptive head lights. Upon steering the car, especially on highway entries and exits, sharp turns, and windy road driving the error "dipped left headlight" will appear. Audi has consistently denied the problem as you need to be on the road for this problem to occur. Even driving to the service mechanic is deadly with only one functioning headlight and has been the only way for a mechanic to determine an issue is occurring. After that, the car must be left on and unlocked while registering the car.

Takata recall for defective front passenger airbag was issued on may 27, 2016.one year and a half later, audi has failed to replace the defective airbag or to provide a safe loaner vehicle.

On july 2, 2020 i was in a city street sitting at a stop light waiting for it to turn green when all of a sudden the steering wheel, driver side seat and the driver side curtain airbags deployed hitting me. I was in a state of shock since i was not moving or had not been hit. I had to move the car over into a parking lot. The horn was honking and would not stop so i had to take out fuse. I did not know what to do so i called a family friend to come help tow the car back to my house since i was not far from it. Then on july 5, 2020 i received a post card in the mail from audi dealership saying there was a urgent airbag safety recall. So on july 6, 2020 i contacted the dealership and explained what had happened and left my information. I have not heard anything back from them since. I have not driven the car it had been sitting in driveway since this happened.

Tamara recall. I have tried for several months to get this replaced as the year and make of my vehicle are in the target area for possible defect. I was originally told by the local audi dealership that my vehicle was not eligible for the recall even though i presented them with paperwork. I spoke with them again today and i was informed that they have no timeframe for repair and out me on a call list. This is our family vehicle. I am a parent and i work in emergency medicine. This greatly concerns me as i have see traumatic injuries on a regular basis.

Recall back in may....still no remedy for this!

Takata recallit has been over one year since i was first notified of this recall.i have called the audi recall line several times and have received no information.when i have asked when i can expect the repair to be ready, i am told that parts aren't available and they'll send me a letter at some point.they have not been helpful in the least.i have not allowed anyone to ride in my front passenger seat because of the recall, and this time delay is verging on ridiculous!

Takata recall was issued in january of 2017 and i have been driving an unsafe vehicle for 10 months with no resolution in sight.i have contacted audi and there is no expected availability date or remedy.i just received a message company has filed for bankruptcy and unsure what recourse exists.

Audi manufacturer did not seem to be to interested. The speed at time of impact was between 25-30 mph. Audi a4 cabriolet. On may 2006 the air bag warning light was on and brought to the dealer for repair. On september 2006 the air bag light and the brake warning light were on and brought to the dealer for repair. On november 10 i had an accident due to a brake failure driving at 15 mph exiting the highway. Manufacturer rejects a failure of brakes testing the car static at body shop. At crash , the driver airbag did not deployed, there was no passenger but the passenger air bag deployed. Roll over protector ejected even with no intention to roll.2- failures and repeated malfunctioning lead to accident even manufacturer denies any problem, my belief is thatcar is unsafe to drive. Contact states: bought a new 2005 audi,a4 and it has been in the shop 3 times for the same problem. The air bag sensor light stays on,and air bag mechanism will have to replaced. This is an audi a4, 2005.

Airbag light continues to trip.first occurrence fault indicated driver side airbag upper limit exceed. Replaced driver side airbag and connectors. Car was 47 days outside 4 yr warranty with only 42k miles.5 months later light came on again, repair accomplished again, light came on after one day.service tech stated that they did not know if airbag would deploy in the event of a crash.instructed to put a couple hundred miles on car.schedule to go back to dealer this week.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4 cabriolet. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle began to shake violently, lost all power and stalled. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and the contact waited 20-25 minutes before the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who could not duplicate the failure. The failure continued and the vehicle back to the dealer 20 times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer in 2007 and the ignition coils were replaced. In january 2009, the ignitions coils were placed again. The contact stated that the dealer also replaced the ignition switch. The glue separated from the convertible top which allowed water to get into the vehicle and ruin the entire electrical system and carpet; the top needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that the warranty had expired. The failure mileage was 400 and the current mileage was approximately 7,000.

Dipped headlight warning and headlights flickering. Brought to dealer for service said may need to be replaced $200-350 because they have to take entire bumper off. I am driving this car because my former 2001 a6 caught fire due to headlight panel in which there was a recall for. Car burnt to the ground on top of a mountain leavening just the frame. Audi could not have cared less, offer me a $2000 incentive for a new or used audi/volkswagen. After reading all of these complaints due to light flickering i am scared to drive my a4.

I currently own a 2005.5 audi a4.my headlights constantly flicker, which is dangerous at night.i have been looking on audi-tech forums and this seems to be a real problem with many audi vehicles.when i first got the car, i used to get a flickering problem but the dealership fixed it by replacing the bulbs.however, i do not think it is the bulbs because the problem has apparently flared up again.please check into this as it may be reason for a recall.

Headlights constantly flicker and then go out. Turning them off then on will only bring them on for a few seconds. I have had bulb replaced no results, though very expensive. My last audi burned to the ground due to similar defect. Couldn't imagine this would happen again. Have reached out to audi with no response.

Headlight dipped warning came on followed by the bulb going out completely and not coming back on. From blogs there seems to be no fix and problem keeps recurring. There's obviously a problem here and its dangerous to drive at night with only one headlight.

The lights on my audi a4 3.2 quattro will flicker and sometimes go out while driving at night time.if i stop and pull over the lights will go back on, but the lights will flicker.some days i have the problem frequently- sometimes i'll go for a stretch of 5-7 days with no problems at night.after recent researchi have been lead to this site to report the problem and make someone aware of the fact that multiple audi owners have been having this problem also.i was referred from fixya.com- and i hope that a solution will be found for audi owners.the problems the lights can cause are distractions for other drivers, and it may lead to a ticket or another traffic violation for safety reasons.the lights flicker and a dipped light warning will appear on the dash and it has occurred more than once for my vehicle in the past 3 months.

I was driving down the highway and have continuously gotten the "dipped light" warning on my display. My lights procceded to flicker and then shut off. I was driving right next to a car and had to pull over because they wouldn't come on. It took 15 minutes before the headlights returned to normal. I was extremely scared when my headlights turned off. This is a big safety issue and has occurred 3 times since then. I have replaced the bulbs and that did not solve the problem. I know there is a tsb for this problem, but i think there is a need for a recall as i almost got into an accident on the highway.

Car headlights periodically flicker and turn off under normal conditions.driver side flickers on acceleration and passenger side will flicker and turn off completely during acceleration or braking.have to switch the headlights completely off and back on for them to light up again.i have the bi-xenon hid adaptive headlights factory installed on my car.i just received a class action lawsuit letter describing reimbursements for class members who have either repaired or had an authorized audi dealership document the issue within the 5 year/50,000 mile warranty from date of original purchase or lease.i bought my car at 51,xxx miles and am out of warranty with no access to the previous owners records.this is a safety issue that should be identified and a full recall campaign should be initialized with audi of america (aoa).from what i have gathered on the internet, there are 100's if not 1000's of a4's having this problem but aoa refuses to take responsibility for it and claim the headlights are operating normally.normally is not turning off while driving on their own.i have dealt with this issue for 5 years that i have owned my car and never asked the dealership for a repair due to it being out of warranty and is expensive ($1000+).it's time for aoa to own up to this issue and repair it free of charge for it's customers since it's a safety issue.

Car spontaneously caught on fire in the garage.car was not running, keys were not in the ignition and engine was cold.

Driving down the road and my car starts smoking and catchs on fire

I purchased the vehicle on 02/11/2012 and that very evening when i had the opportunity to use the lights, my right light began to flicker and then failed completely. This really unnerved me as i was in an area with no street lights. And didn't really know what was happening. I instinctively turned the lights off and then on again, and this made them come back on. Unfortunately, this happened numerous times that night. I feel this is a blatant safety issue especially as i had family members in my car and their well being was compromised. I have researched this problem via the internet and it appears to be rampant on audi's and the dealerships don't either know what to do or don't want to do it as for the expense of the parts.i spoke with no less than 8 audi dealerships around the pa northeast and no one could positively say what would be the problem. I am having the bulb replaced at my cost because i bought the car used and have no warranty. Now i know why i was able to purchase it at a good cost. Last owner was probably crazy over this. By all accounts, even replacing the bulb might not work. There are no less than 4 tsb's out on this problem. Why audi gets away with this is a travesty and this should be remedied as soon as possible before someone gets killed.

I purchased this 2005 audi a4 in august of 2007 and within the first few months of having the vehicle i was already having problems with it having to take it in and get repaired/serviced. Not only was i dissatisfied that i bought a horrible car, because it was having recurring problems, but i find out after purchasing the vehicle the dealership sold me a quattro, but my audi is not a quattro, so i was mislead into buying a faulty vehicle.. My paperwork documentation says 2005 audi a4 quattro 1.8tso i had to pay to get towed out of the snow because the audi is only 2 wheel drive.. I will never ever purchase a vw/audi vehicle again and i always tell people don't get a vw/audi because they are horrible unreliable cars. I have put so much money into this junk audi that just constantly has problems, i could have bought a new car again by now . I'm very disappointed with vw/audi. I have wasted so much money on diagnostic repair checks, because the [xxx] check engine light repeatedly keeps coming on the dashboard. I can't get my car smog approved without the check engine light being off, so i am relentlessly dumping money i simply don't have into this pos audi.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4 which was purchased january 30, 2006. He stated that the driver was traveling approximately 25 miles when she parked the vehicle and saw black smoke under the hood. Someone passing by attempted to extinguish the fire with a standard fire extinguisher and was successful. The fire was near the battery. The fire department extinguished the fire and confirmed that it was electrical. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure and current mileages were under 68,000. Update 12/14/09updated 12/16/09

Audi 2005 a4 1.8t speed sensor fails causing car to shut down while driving. Power steering and power breaks become inoperable due to car shutting down.

1) headlights are the main problem.the car has the type of lights that move when turning the wheel.occasionally, the headlights will flicker whether or not you are turning the steering wheel but will remain on.this is a nuisance but may be related to the next, larger problem.the larger problem is, almost every night there will be a headlight dip warning signal on the instrument panel.when this happens rarely will the headlights stay on anymore.they used to do so, but now one or both of the headlights will frequently turn off. We used to be able to override this by moving the headlight switch on the dash from the auto to the manual mode and off mode.however, now we have to switch back and forth multiple times before the headlights turn back on and it takes a lot longer now than it used to.(the headlights are staying off for longer periods. ) also, even when you leave the headlight switch in the manual mode (rather than use the auto mode at all), the headlights will still dip and turn off.

Repeated headlamp failure.

2005 audi a4 s-line's problems: dipped headlights flickering & intermittently going out and condensation in headlights.

My right headlight has been flickering for about 3 months, and a few times it has gone out completely. Turning the headlights off and back on fixes it for a couple days. I waited to take it to the dealer until it needed maintenance, and also so there would be more dtc evidence for them to troubleshoot with. The left headlight started doing the same thing so i took it in. Audi cannot replicate and will not replace the headlights.

While driving either during the day or during the night either one of the lights will start flickering and then eventually go out completely. While driving home one the freeway one night the right side started to flicker and then went out completely...i turned the lights off and then turned them on and the light worked perfectly fine for 5 mins or so and then the same thing happened again! the next day as i was going to work early in the morning (while it was still a little dark) the same thing happened again...but this time with the left side. It started to flicker and then it went out completely. I turned the lights off and turned them back on and the light worked as if nothing happened. I called an audi dealer and they said to bring the car in to get this issue fixed...they quoted me at $180 for the bulb and a grand total of $450 for the bulb plus installation. I just recently bought the car and ive been reading online about all the people that are having the same problem with their headlights....i think its only fair to have a recall due to a poor design because i dont think its very safe for me or anyone to drive with one headlight and then having the chance of the other headlight going out at the same time!

Bi-xenon driver side headlight goes off randomly while driving at any speeds.have to power off and on the headlights while driving to get the light to work again. This has been happening for years since i bought the car new.audi service was never able to admit to the problem or fix it on multiple visits for service on the car. Huge safety issue...

Problem of "dipped" headlight on my 2005.5 a4 b7. Purchased the car used in 2009 and have had this issue since purchase. Asked mechanics to investigate but had found nothing wrong. Usually it was just one side, either left or right (both have occurred multiple times). The other day was the third or fourth instance where both sides threw the "dipped" error, leaving me barreling down the highway at 75mph with no lights. While power cycling them usually brings them back, this is completely dangerous and unacceptable behavior for a vehicle that is allegedly working properly. It is clear to me, as an engineer myself, that this is a gross short-coming in design of the electrical system used to drive the lights. Either the wiring, or ballasts are malfunctioning. Audi has done nothing to ameliorate or warn me of this issue.

"intermittent headlight malfunction. Over the course of a year and a half of ownership, the right headlight has malfunctioned (turned off), with no consistent cause apparent. The specific error message that appears in the driver information screen is "left headlight dipped". This condition is both unsafe, and illegal - as many states will issue a traffic violation for driving with a non-functioning headlight. It has happened about 20 times, the headlight flickers, then goes out, but will come back on when the car is restarted, then be fine for weeks or months at a time. The dealership has been notified of the problem on at least 3 visits, and has claimed that everything is fine and they can not reproduce. They have suggested/guessed that it is the xenon light bulb itself, however it has checked out fine each time, and as mentioned, has functioned flawlessly after each occurrence with merely a restart of the vehicle. No parts have been repaired or replaced, however they have claimed to perform a visual inspection of the electrical connections on at least one visit. Anecdotal evidence (conversational, and via internet owners' forums) suggests that the problem is widespread among a substantial portion of audi's model range and years 2005 audi a4 3.2 quattro."

I have a 2005.5 audi a4 2.0t quattro which has encountered a failure of the abs/esp electrical module. The result is failure of the esp system and the abs system. This is the result of a faulty electrical module which many forums describe as a frequent occurrence and as a result a redesign by the manufacturer. The audi part is ~$1900. Based on the experience of many owners and the safety implications i would expect the manufacturer to cover the costs of correcting the defect.

Stopped on a hill at a stop light, went to go and car lunged forward and died.had to immediately apply brakes, car started again.has happened multiple times.we are second owner, have only had the car for a year and found that the transmission control module for this vehicle was already replaced at 49,000 miles - under warranty to other owner.now, at 130k miles we are being told it has to be replaced again.it is a danger to drive as they said the transmission could fail or even the gears could slip causing danger to the passengers.this particular model of audi transmission, known as "multitronic" or "cvt" has numerous complaints and failures.we paid 12k for this car used and have a major malfunction within a year.

Shifting from second to third gear and the gas pedal went down to the floor and engine redlined rpms. I had to manually pull the pedal from the floor where the engine and pedal functioned as normal afterwards. I checked the floor mat and it was secure and away from impeding the pedal.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. While driving at 35 mph, "low oil pressure, turn engine off and pull over" was displayed across the message board. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the oil pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 118,000.updated 04/06/16*ljupdated 11/3/2017

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. The contact received a notice stating that the vehicle was running on three cylinders. The dealer stated that there was no reason for concern and that the vehicle would be fine. The dealer replaced the engine coil in order to reduce the amount of gasoline that was being used. Three months later the turbo failed and the engine malfunctioned. There were no warning lights illuminated when the failure occurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 62000.

The timing chain (not the timing belt, which had been changed well before the recommended time) broke.this caused the engine to seize immediate resulting in the car coming to a rapid and abrupt stop.fortunately for me, it occurred at low speed on a very quiet street.had it occurred on a freeway, serious injury or death likely would have resulted since the car decelerated so quickly i would not have had time to coast into the breakdown lane.apparently failures of these timing chains occur commonly; audi apparently has an extended warranty program for some cam follower wear problems (that may or may not involve a timing chain failure).but they do not list the chain or the follower as maintenance or inspection items, and give owners no hint that they should inspect the follower, or replace the chain periodically.timing chain failures on zero clearance engines (vw has the same engine and apparently the same problem), will kill folks if they occur on freeways or other roads where an inability to coast to a safe stopping point will leave motorists at incredible risk.

2005 audi a4 avant is currently still under warranty but the audi dealership and audi of america will not replace a cracked coolant reservoir.the onboard computer came on, indicating a problem, but there wasno leak.however, the crack was very visible and will most likely spread further resulting in a leak.the crack wasmost likely caused from the excessive heat under the engine hood.i believe thiswas a serious flaw in materials used to manufacture the reservoir.

Dt: the contact owns a 2005 audi a4 2.0 liter turbo engine. The non linear acceleration, it will bog and surge while in traffic.while pressing hard on the gas, it will suddenly surge forward, causingdriversbehind him to constantly apply the brakes. Also, the low speed power steering will not come on.it was limited and very hard to steer. This problem with the power steering started intermittently. The contact's vehiclewas involved in an accident. But because of the lack of power steering acceleration prevented frombeing hit. The vehicle has been at the dealership five times for the accelerating problem, and once for the power steering problem. The dealership has not corrected the acceleration problem. The dealershipstarted a diagnostic teston the power steering. The contactcontacted the manufacturer many times, and they were cooperative. The repairs are being delayed because the dealership forgot to order the parts. The numbers of failures were 100 times at least. The problems first began 10 days after purchase ofthe vehicle on april 4, 2005,and it was in for service on april 14, 2005.the consumer was told the bog and surge was within audi's specifications and no corrective action would take place. 11/15/05.

Prior to stalling, the engine was making a low noise, which i have heard before as a norm on cold days to warm up.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4 2.0t. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power with no power brakes or power steering. The contact coasted to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the cam shaft broke and the entire engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who offered to cover a percentage of the repair. The vin was unavailable when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were approximately 70,000.

I purchased certified pre owned car from dealership-audi a4 3.0 quattro, 2005.2 days later i could not pass required state inspection due to "check engine" issue-misfire on a 6th cylinder. I brought the car back to dealership a few days later to correct the problem. The problem was corrected temporarily and car passed the inspection-'check engine' light was reset by dealership. A few months later "check engine" issue came back after scheduled maintenance (at 50,000 miles) was done by authorized dealership. Problem was temporarily corrected 2nd time.in december 2008 after 3rd time "check engine" issue, dealership proposed to replace whole engine in order to resolve this issue, which was done. On february 11, 2009 driving back home from work i've noticed an exhaust gas smell inside the car, car was shaking and "check engine " light was "on"/not steady. I contacted audi customer service advocates to report the problem and start the case. I brought the car back to dealership for repair 4th time. They performed necessary steps to correct the problem but failed (2 sensors were replaced according to them and "check engine" light still "on"). I was informed that dealership did not replace the whole engine back in december 2008 - they only replaced lower part of the engine knowing that there was a problem with misfire on 6th cylinder (upper part of the engine).after 3 weeks of waiting and constant repairs i am not sure that this problem has been corrected permanently.facts: car was purchased at 49,000 miles on april 29, 2008. My car has been at dealership for 75-80 days out of 10 months since i purchased it. Total mileage as of february 28, 2009 is 52,450.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4.while driving 2-5 mph in reverse, the vehicle would not accelerate and the engine warning indicator light illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the coil that distributes spark to the cylinders degenerated and lost power.the dealer replaced four ignition coils.the current and failure mileages were 52,000.

Front head lights flicker, then go out, resulting in a "dipped headlight" message. Once, they both went to out once. To fix the problem, i have to pull over, turn the engine and lights off and restart. Sometimes they "dip" again and sometimes they stay on. I try not to drive the car at night.

My 2005.5 audi a4 quattro frequently experiences hid headlight problems, typically starting with a rapidly flickering headlight and then followed by the headlight(s) extinguishing.when this happens, there is a right or left dipped bulb failure indicated on the dashboard.the headlights can be restored by cycling power.this problem is occurring more frequently; currently it occurs at least every 30 minutes and seems to be triggered when braking the car to a stop, gently accelerating in lower gears, or when turning while climbing or descending steep hills.when this condition is experienced, the headlights flicker rapidly and eventually extinguish.restoring the affected headlight requires me to either pull off the road and cycle power or to manually turn the lights off and on while driving. This is unsafe, probably illegal, and very annoying to the driver and others in traffic.i had this condition repaired previously under warranty (40k miles), but it has recently returned and worsened.my audi now has 92k miles and is out of warranty.i am surprised that audi has not offered a cost-free recall action to fix this safety problem, particularly given its prevalence in audi a4's.the cost to repair this obvious design defect is high and apparently could involve replacement of the hid bulbs, igniters, and sensors.

I will be driving my 2005.5 audi a4 2.0t at night and randomly my headlights will start to flicker than completely fail.i have to turn them off than back on the problem will go away then it will happen again sometimes more often.the parts are ridiculously expensive so i"m putting off getting it fixed.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. The contact stated that while driving at night the headlights would dim making it difficult to see the road at night. The contact looked at the lights and noticed that they were foggy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they advised that he would have to replace the entire headlight assembly. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The current mileage was approximately 90,000. The vin was unavailable.

The left headlamp will flicker and then dip towards the ground while driving, a dashboard warning says "left headlamp dipped". The car has been to the audi dealer several times and they are unable to replicate the issue, and tell me the fault does not generate a computer code for them to check. It has started happening on a more frequent basis, at different speeds and on different road conditions.

My audi a4 2005.5 left headlight flickers.

2005 audi a4 quattro."right dipped light".right bulb goes out and i get the warning.its been happening randomly and will not stop.turning off the lights and back on sometimes corrects the problem for a short time.

While driving, the headlight flickers and goes out.if headlights are turned off and back on, headlight works just fine.when i searched on the internet many individuals with this car make have had the same problem. Replacing the bulb does not fix the problem.some individuals have said that audi dealerships say they don't know how to fix the problem

Left or right headlights flicker and fail every time i use my headlights. No worse or better with bumpy roads. After a light goes out, turning the lights off and back on temporarily fixes the problem. But a few moments later the light flickers and fails. Most recent failure was when going around a corner at night. Oncoming traffic did not see me and nearly crashed head on. Newly purchased car and headlights failed first night. I have researched the problem online and read dozens of threads with seemingly hundreds of people with the same problem. Absolutely shocked audi has not put out a recall. Serious safety issue with no current solution. The question is out of all the deadly accidents in audi cars, how many had this issue as a factor. I don't envy the person quickly driving down a winding back road, when their headlights go out an instant before a quick turn they wont see and wrap their car around a tree.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. The contact stated that the head lights failed. The contact was able to engage the lights for re-illumination however, the failure was recurring. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.

Audi a4 2005 headlights went out at exactly the same time.

Over the course of nearly two years of ownership, the right and left headlights have malfunctioned (turned off), with no consistent cause apparent. The specific error message that appears in the driver information screen is "right/left headlight dipped". This condition is both unsafe, and illegal - as many states will issue a traffic violation for driving with a non-functioning headlight. It has happened about 7-8 times, the headlight flickers, then goes out, but will come back on when the car is restarted, then be fine for weeks or months at a time. The dealership has been notified of the problem on at least 3 visits, and has claimed that everything is fine and they can not reproduce said error. Given the availability of information online and by word of mouth from other fellow audi owners, this problem is not limited to just my case.i would like audi to step up and address this issue not only for their own pr, but for their customers' safety.

Just purchased a 2005.5 audi a4.headlight sometimes will flicker and goes out.dashboard said dipped right headlight or dipped left headlight.i have learned that this is a common problem with this audi and my audi dealer is not acknowledging the problem. Over 75% have these cars have had this problems.i bought this car for my son as his first car and has been a major safety issue for me.he was restricted only can drive in the day time and also causing us a lot of inconvenience.by reportingthis i hope someone will look into this matter and have audi step up to resolve this problem before someone gets hurt.thanks.

Hello, i have a 2006 audi a4 which has the xenon lights, they shut off about every time i drive my car at night and causes a huge driving distraction and the parts they say will fix it are very expensive and tend to not fix it at all, i had what they said fixed the problem only last for a month and they started to do the same thing again.

2005 audi a4 2.0t - headlights malfunction. Warning sign comes on "left/right headlight dipped out". During night, this is extremely dangerous. Only way to get lights back on is to either turn headlights off and back on again or pull over, turn car off and restart. This is only a temporary fix though. Within 10 to 15 min, the headlight will "dip" out again (light flickers and goes out). Changing bulbs do not help. Changing ballast does not help. Within a 20 mile stretch, my headlights will "dip out" and black out on average of 3 times. This makes for very unsafe driving conditions.

Headlight flickers and goes out "headlight dipped" warning.

Audi a4 (2005) - audi is apparently aware of the problem with the "dipped headlights" in their vehicles, but will not offer a fix to owners.if one does an internet search you can find literally dozens of sites dedicated to this issue and people trying to get a resolution.this problem causes one or both of the hid headlights to flicker and go out while driving and repeats even when the lights are turned off and back on again.aside from it being a safety issue, it's also causing owners in the form of driving violations, etc...and yet audi usa refuses to address this well known issue.

Left and right headlights dipped automatically, will also go off;headlight will also flicker before dipping; have gone to have fixed but dealer unable to determine problem;they indicate they need to get them tp replicate the error but could not duplicate;this is a serious safety problem that the dealer appears not willing to fix; appears to be a problem with audi's overall;

Problem occurs when the lights are turned on at night, the right headlight begins to flicker and then shuts off with an error, "right dipped headlight". It occurs every night, which is dangerous and hazardous and makes it difficult to see and obscures the view to drivers of oncoming traffic. This problem is being suffered by a large numbers of owners and it should be recalled by the manufacturer.

Repeated headlamp failure.

My audi a4 currently has an issue with the headlights going out.when i turn it on, one of the headlights will start flickering and then dip, getting a warning light on the dash that specifies the headlight has dipped.this has happened on both the left and right headlight.the problem is intermittent and tends to happen early after driving, usually when roads are uneven or going over speed bumps. I have taken it to the dealer who said they could not replicate the problem and advised replacing the bulbs at the cost of over $700.they did not gaurantee it would fix the problem.i was able to replicate the problem as soon as i drove off the lot.apparently other drivers have complained about this issue.this is an extreme safety and hazard issue as it occurs while i am driving.if you turn off the headlights and turn it back on, they will sometimes stay on but more often will flicker and then go off again.i believe this is a manufacturing issue vs. Wear and tear and would like audi to permanently fix the issue at their expense.

Left xenon headlamp works intermittently. It started being a problem about 2 years ago, shortly after purchasing the car used. It was repaired under warranty, but the intermittent operation has returned.

Bought 2005 audi 3.2 quattro a4 with 57500 miles have driven aprox 3000 miles and headlights have started to flicker and the left highbeam is starting to fail. I get error message that headlight has dipped. It then shows headlight failed symbol. I turn lights off and on and headlight comes back on. I see from online research that this a common problem with audi owners with no fix from audi.

Problem: the left headlight flickers, i receive a warning message that "left headlight dipped, then the left headlight will go out. To "reset" this, i can turn my lights off, then turn them on again, but i can only do this when stopped, as it's unsafe to do this while driving at night. Once i turn them on again, they'll be ok again for a while, but the process will repeat itself again.

Audi a4 2.0t avant - 2005. There are numerous complaints on the xenon lights flickering on and off. Today i had cars pulling over in front of me because they thought i was an emergency vehicle. This overwhelming response to the problem can be seen at:http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3977997-and-http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?p=23809262this is very dangerous.

Defective headlight assembly.google "dipped headlight audi".causes rampant flickering that blinds everyone on the road or turn off your headlight and drive in the dark at night.changed bulb does not fix it.changed ballast does not fix it.

I own a 2005 audi a4. One of my headlight constantly flickers then turns off. This problem happens in any and all situations. Cold, hot, day, night, morning, evening, raining. The only solution at the moment is to turn off the headlights for about 10 seconds then restart them. This is incredibly dangerous as it is night time. The bulbs themselves are not bad. It is an electronic module problem or something of the sort. I am an ase certified mechanic so i have diagnosed the car numerous time. The headlight system is extremely expensive and the problem seems to be widespread. One can easily find hundreds of cases on the forums by searching for "audi flickering headlight". I believe audi needs to recall these vehicles for the safety of the all drivers on the road. Driving at night should not involve turning off your lights and restarting them to reset the computer.

The left headlight of my 2006 audi a4 quattro has this annoying -- and dangerous -- problem: 1. The left headlight flickers 2. It then turns itself off 3. The message "left dipped headlight" appears 4. The message is changed to a sign indicating that the lightbulb has failed.if i turn the light off (note: we're talking about driving at night here) and turn it back on again, the light will become normal again, for about a few minutes and then the cycle repeats itself.this problem is intermittent. It has been occurring a lot recently with the cold weather. I can't tell for sure whether it is temperature related.my audi dealer said that audi knows about this problem but doesn't know how to fix it -- changing the light bulb doesn't solve the problem.

Right headlight flickered and went out. Instruments indicated right headlight dipped. Cycled power on lights and lights returned for 30 sec and then continued problem.

On my 2005.5 audi a4, the driver's side headlight flickers, then the illumination terminates. This is a problem that the dealership has been made aware of, however they don't find the problem during service .the illumination flickers, causing other driver's to take their attention from the road and focus on my vehicle. Additionally, as is a law in illinois, i am not able to have a vehicle equipped with flashing or strobing white or blue light, which this malfunction ultimately does. Finally, the light being out, causes the roadway to be darker and thus, more difficult to see. Illinois law requires two properly functioning headlights, which i do not have.

Left headlight (bi-xenon type) flickers then fails on our 2005 audi a4 quattro.the only way to bring the light back on is to turn off the headlight switch and turn it back on again - at night, this means several seconds with no headlights on - which means that you must pull over to a safe place along the road (which sometimes is not possible) to cycle the switch.the light will often shut off shut off several times a minute requiring multiple resets of the system.there is tsb from audi describing this problem, but no action has been taken to resolve the issue.

2005 audi a4 2.0 turbo.the head lights go out and the sensor says "dipped light", need to shut lights off and then put them back on. I have brought it to the dealer 3 times and they say they know that they have a problem on all these cars but, "do not know how to fix it". They cleaned the terminals but it did not work. There are thousands of similar complaints on the lights.

Dipped headlight / flicker / problem very unsafe to drive at night. Hid headlight will flicker then goes off completely.it happens every day when vehicle is cold.

I have a 2005 a4 and for the past year have been getting a 'dipped headlight' warning on my dash lcd.while driving or idling, the driver's headlight will flicker & sporadically go off.my dealership said to shut off car, wait a minute, and turn car back on.this seems to temporarily fix the situation, but when you are driving and the lights go out or flicker, it's not consive to pull over and shut your car off.the dealerships will not address this under a recall as there is still not one set up.audi is letting their loyal consumers down by putting us at risk of harm should we be driving and the lights just go out.this is a serious issue that needs immediate attention to ensure drivers are equipped with functioning equipment.

I drive a 2005.5 audi a4 2.0t. When i turn my headlights on the right headlight shakes, then flickers, and then turns off only to turn back on a few seconds later and the process continues the entire drive. This problem occurs every time i turn them on. This can cause a serious accident with my lights being turned off, every couple of minutes. I've taken the car to two audi dealerships and they told me they had fixed the problem by changing the headlight. The problem still continues to this day.

Front headlights flicker on either side and i get a headlight dipped error on my dash.as a result either right or left light goes out completely.problem occurs daily and the only way of turning lights on back again is to complete turn lights of off then on again.a safety issues when driving at night and early morning.

My audi a4constantly will get a dipped headlight, meaning that the hid lights will dip and fail to stay on.it happens on both sides and will happen at night.i have driven in complete darkness and had both lights fail, if i turn the lights off for a few seconds and back on they will reset but it does not take long before they do it again and it is something that concerns me anytime i drive during dark times.i live in a area with snow and ice in the winter and also have to deal with deer and pedestrians during the summer.my lights going out all of a sudden for no reason has me questioning the safety my car provides.i am concerned that i may have my lights go out and wreck, or potentially hit a animal or person.

I own an audi a4 2.0t 2005.5 (b7).thedriver side xenon headlights flicker intermittently andshut off.this is not a headlight bulb issuethe problem is getting worse. The dealer aware of this andis not taking responsibility because of the cost.i have read of many other owners of this make and model having the same problem. This has the potential of creating an accident.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the headlights failed without warning. The failure recurred constantly. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,000.

Headlights on my 2005.5 audi a4 equipped with xenon headlights suffer from intermittent failure.while driving headlights can begin to flicker for no apparent reason.flickering can get worse and one headlight will go out.a warning reading either "left or right dipped headlight" appears on the car.the other headlight that did not fail typically remains on and continues to function properly although it has also failed leaving the car with no functional headlights on two occasions.when the lights are cycled off then back on the headlights turn back on and may function properly or may flicker and fail again.the problem began under warranty and was very infrequent.the problem now occurs 50% of the time while driving at night.the car has been in for repair numerous times and the problem has not been corrected.typically while experiencing the flickering headlights i find that the safest way to drive is one failed headlight as there is then no flickering of headlights which i would assume is highly distracting to other drivers.a google search for left or right dipped headlight returns hundreds of thousands of results with numerous people having trouble getting audi to correctly repair the problem.as the xenon headlights are optional equipment on the cars the percentage of cars with xenon bulbs and headlight problems might be fairly high.

The headlights(hid) flicker and sometimes go off for a few seconds. I have not had a total failure yet; although, i have been frightened. The flickering happens on a weekly basis. The total lights out has happened 3 times.

5 minutes after driving the vehicle to work as i do everyday, the error message on the dash read "left headlight dipped", losing one side of the lighting to the vehicle.it continued to do this each day afterward whenever driving in the early morning or evening when lights would be required.a few months after, the right side had dipped as well.i looked up some possible scenarios of what was causing this issue and found a few things but have not pinpointed the issue; will have to try the dealership soon.1) change out the bulbs (bi-xenon)2) change out the ballasts3) some other issuethis is a safety concern of mine and many others as one day both lights will go dark while driving at night and will surely induce some type of accident.i hope that the dot will strongly consider forcing audi to resolve this issue as this is a preventable situation.thank you,

2005.5 audi a4 with xenon lights.both headlights flicker constantly and frequently turn off.by turning lights off and on, the bulb comes back on.it is dangerous for other drivers (flashing headlights) and for me (no headlights!).it is illegal, too.dealerships and independent mechanics have suggested a range of repairs but no one seems to be sure without spending thousands (ballasts and bulbs) on a repair which may or may not work.has been happening this way for years.

The headlights on my audi a4 flicker and then i get an error message saying that the "headlight dipped" and then it turns off.i then have to turn off the headlights and turn them back on to get the light to return.i have tried replacing many components of the headlight system and nothing has remedied the issue.the dealer does not know how to fix the problem either.

Dipped head light message with headlight flashing on and off then goes out.....if you turn off the lights and put them back on it works again. Was just on an audi form web site and i'd say hundreds of people are having the same problem with no fix from audi. It is not safe to have your headlights going out while driving at night.

Headlights flicker and shut off during driving of the vehicle.dipped headlight error displays, and happens to both headlights evenly.

Excessive moisture in both headlights.dealer stats that an "o" ring has failed and infers that this is a design problem.states that most headlight assemblies will clear up within about 10 minutes.mine have so much moisture in them that i have water drips.this causes the light output to be very dim.audi has a tsb that states the light assembly should not be replaced, and has no other repair suggestion (just live with the problem i guess).also, it appears that this happens on the 2002-2005 models as well as the 2005.5 - 2009 models of the a4.this is a known issue that audi doesn't seem to want to address.dealer has estimated the "o" ring replacement to be about $250 (for a $1 part!).

Headlights randomly go off while driving at night. A warning message comes up saying "left/right headlight dipped". This can be corrected by turning the lights off and then back on. This has been happening on my 2005.5 audi a4 quatro 3.2 since about 24 months after purchase. I have asked multiple dealers about the problem with no resolution. Dealer said no codes are in the system.

Dipped headlight on 2005 audi a4.had issue with left headlight which audi usa eventually replaced, now right headlight is doing the same and audi refuses to repair under warranty.

The right headlight goes out and flickers on my audi a4 quattro t 2005 and it has happened daily and ive been reading about it in blogs and nothin.

Headlights will turn off for no reason.foglights will also cycle on and off.no solution.extremely dangerous situation.

2005 audi a4 s-line's problems: dipped headlights flickering & intermittently going out and condensation in headlights.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. The contact stated the headlights shut on and off while driving. When the failure occurred the instrument panel would display headlights dipped on the instrument. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer whowas told the engine vibration caused the headlights to shut off. The dealer placed rubber pieces into the casing in order to minimizethe vibration. The failure mileage was 43,000 and the current mileage was 62,000.

Headlights dip and continue to flicker and turn off during mild driving. This becomes dangerous when driving at night and the lights turn off due to the flicker.

Dipped lower right headlamp. I have had the bulb replaced at my expense because the dealer said that would be the reason for it to flicker and go on and off. This did not remedy the situation. Looking at all of the complaints a recall needs to happen.

Headlights flicker and turn off while driving.message on dash reads 'dipped headlamp'.headlights will turn back on if light switch is turned off and back on.this is extremely dangerous, and many times now, the lights have turned off on the freeway or on dark mountainous road section.the lights turned off approximately 100 times during a 2600 mi trip.

Headlights constantly flicker and then go out. Turning them off then on will only bring them on for a few seconds. I have had bulb replaced no results, though very expensive. My last audi burned to the ground due to similar defect. Couldn't imagine this would happen again. Have reached out to audi with no response.

Left dipped and right dipped headlight on dash warning. Lights will flicker then just shut completely off.

On 2005.5 audi a4 with hid headlights, the headlights will flicker and then will turn off.console will report "left/right headlight dipped".this is a common problem with the vehicle, however, audi has taken no action to rectify the problem.

My certified pre owned2005 a4 had the xenon headlights changed 3 times in 1.5 years while under warranty. Six months after the 50,000 warranty, the lights started flickering and then dimmed and flickered while driving at night with no warning on the display. I went to the dealer and both had to be replaced at a cost of $430 for the two lights and $236 dollars installation cost. I have owned the car for ~ 1.7 years and had five new headlights. I am not audi's quality control department. I also was able to turn the lights off and on to get them back on and its very dangerous at night driving down the highway at 65 mph.its is scary to say the least.

I drive a 2005.5 audi a4 2.0t. When i turn my headlights on nearly half the time the right headlight shakes, then flickers, then turns off only to turn back on a few seconds later and the process continues the entire drive.unless i turn the headlights from auto to off and then back to auto and it seems to fix the problem during this trip.i've taken the car to the audi dealer which i purchased from and they told me they fix it, the problem now the car is out of warranty.this problem still continues to this day.

Right headlight dipped warning.right headlight will flicker and then shut off.i suspect a faulty igniter ballast.many others have had the same issue with the 2005.5-2008 xenon headlights.creates a dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, both of the headlights started flickering on and off as the left dip light warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they stated that the contact would have to bring the vehicle in when the failure was actually occurring. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The current mileage was 105,000. The vin was not available.

Randomly, and at all different speeds and road conditions, the left or right light will flicker and go out. The instrument panel will say "dipped light". The lights must be turned off then on to correct the problem. Very dangerous on dark curvy highways. So far both have not gone out together. Dealers have no idea how to fix it as there are no error codes or cannot reproduce the problem. Problem happens at least once a week, and sometimes several times in one evening.

While driving the headlights (either left or right or sometimes both) will just go out.happens on the freeway, happens in the driveway or on a surface road...it happens nearly every time i drive with the headlights on.audi can't replicate the issue when i bring it in and doesn't have a fix. Many people report that replacing headlight bulb or ballace didn't fix problem.this is very dangerous as they just flicker and go out.there really should be a recall as this is a very common issue on the a4.

I own a 2005.5 audi a4 3.2 quattro.while driving, i constantly get a error message "dipped right headlight" and the headlight flickers then shuts off.i can get the headlight to come back on only if i turn off then on the headlights again which i believe is very dangerous when driving on the highway.took it to the dealer 3x and problem still not fixed.based on internet chats, it seems to be a common problem many people are having which audi has yet to find a solution to.it is an everyday safety concern.

Audi a4 (2005) - audi is apparently aware of the problem with the "dipped headlights" in their vehicles, but will not offer a fix to owners. If one does an internet search you can find literally dozens of sites dedicated to this issue and people trying to get a resolution. This problem causes one or both of the hid headlights to flicker and go out while driving and repeats even when the lights are turned off and back on again. Aside from it being a safety issue, it's also causing owners in the form of driving violations, etc...and yet audi usa refuses to address this well known issue.

The passenger side xenon headlight unit flickers off and on and eventually go out while driving at night. Turning headlights off and on while temporarily relieve the problem (sometimes less a few seconds, others time 30 min or hour). When problem started a couple years ago , time between the problem was long (weeks). The problem has persisted and now happens every time i drive at night. When problem first occurred (car under warranty, ~45k miles), nothing was found to be an issue by the dealership as the problem could not be replicated at the point of inspection. Unfortunately, the car is now out of warranty. From things i've read, audi failed to program fault tests for the headlights, making the problem hard to diagnose. Additionally, many audi owners spent large amounts of money trying to replace bulbs and replace ballasts (very expensive) only to have the problem persist. I've encountered a couple owners that have actually had charred connectors of the electrical connections affiliated with the lighting system (fire hazard?). The defective nature of the system is an obvious safety issue. Please help facilitate an acceptable response program from audi.

Headlight turns off by itself. Warning message "dipped headlight" comes off on the dashboard. Turn the light switch off and on and headlight comes back on (normal). Car runs with no headlights in the dark on freeway at 65mph for about 2-3 seconds. This is a common (very known) problem with a4 models. Audi is refusing to acknowledge the design/part flaw thus not issuing a safety recall. See more details here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/332613-class-action-lawsuit-dipped-headlight-flicker-problem.

So i was driving from work like around 10:25 pm monday night september 14 2015 when i notice that the right headlight of my car started flickering and all the sudden went off which caused me to not being able to see that well, and there were pedestrians walking on the road which caused me to drive more slow than the allowed speed limitgood thing it wasn't far from home where it happen...next day the light came back on and same thing happened again the light started flickering again and it went off at this point i've been looking around to actually fixed this issue with no luck also i've seen a lot people complaints about the same issue which they called the dipped headlight issue.. T

Headlights on my 2005 audi a4 sedan vibrate and fail, sending an error message reading "dipped headlight failure". This happens more when it's cold or wet. Various items have been replaced. Issue is intermittent. Now out of warranty. This dangerous condition is very expensive to repair, if the dealer is capable of repairing. I'm learning than many other audi owners have this same problem.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. While driving approximately 45 mph, the headlights failed without warning. The failure recurred constantly. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that a heater was drying up the lights. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

The right main headlight flickered multiple times while driving and then shut off. A message appeared "right dipped headlight". The headlights were turned off and on again and the problem persisted. The problem has continued to occur for the past year almost every time the headlights turn on.

Right side headlight will go out randomly and is very unsafe. I have replaced light bulb and problem still exists. I have read many problems and audi is aware of this but chooses not to do anything.

Problem: left front headlight flickers frequently, and often shuts off while vehicle is in motion. It has been evaluated by several audi dealers, and at least 2 attempts to fix it have failed. The light bulb is not broken, since it turns back on after switching lights off. The problem is more frequent during cold weather. When it happens, a warning light comes on indicating a "dipped headlight."

Wife was driving home from work at night, when error message "left dipped headlight" appeared, and she noticed left low beam headlight not working.replaced with new bulb and still not working.a few months later, now both left and right headlights not working.this vehicle is no longer safe to drive at night.

When driving down the city street or highway, i would get the "dipped light" warning on my display, the headlights would flicker and then shut off.i have had this checked at the service dept and no faults were found on more than one occasion initially.then, the headlight bulb was replaced at one point as advised by the service dept of the dealership. However, it did not solve the problem. I noticed that it occurs more frequently in cold weather. The only way to temporarily resolve it during driving is to pull over, turnlights off and turn back on. Sometimes theywould dip again after driving for a short distance and i would have to pull over again.i complained to aoa customer service in early 2013. I was told that unfortunately the vehicle was out of warranty and that i would receive a "courtesy partial reimbursement" of the cost of headlight bulb replacement. T i have not yet seen the check to date.the problem began within the first few years after purchase of the new vehicle and continue/repeats every winter for the last 7-8 years. I found many owners having the same problem in many online forums including this nhtsa database but it is disappointing that no recalls have been made thus far. This is a huge safety issue since the headlight would suddenly go off while driving.

Left front headlight will turn off suddenly or continuous flicker without warning. I often receive a "left headlight dipped" warning on my dashboard. The problem is especially bad when the headlights are set to "auto." audi is aware of this issue, but does not yet have a reliable fix for this issue, and they have not voluntarily issued a recall. My left headlight will go out in both dry and wet weather. I'm pretty sure it is a wiring/design defect. It is very dangerous and distracting when my left headlight dips without warning. My audi owners are experiencing this issue. Please push audi to issue a recall.

Left head light flickers, dipped head light warning comes on dash, light shuts off. Very dangerous while traveling dark windy roads. Turning lights off then on gets the light to work again.

I own a 2005 audi a4 and my headlights keep flickering and then go out. Either the right one or the left one goes out. I'll get either a left dipped headlight out or right dipped headlight out warning on the dash. It's recently been the right one going out but it started with left going out most of the time. This happens more than 50% of the time and is becoming a safety issue especially on the dark roads i travel on at night. I've already hit a deer in this car once, so this issue really concerns me, and i can't seem to get it fixed.i've notices this issue is happening to many other audi owners in the forums and blogs i've read about it. I have taken it to the dealer but the don't get an error code and have been unable to fix it. Others have replaced the bulbs but the issue will continue after a couple of months i've noticed. Something needs to be done about this issue or at in the dealership being able to detect an error code for this. They want you to take it to them when the headlight is out and that is to inconvenient and dealerships are closed at night anyway.

I have a 2005 audi a4 2.0t quattro avant and a 2006 audi a4 2.0t quattro sedan.on both cars, the xenon directional low beam headlamps shut off without any warning with message "right dipped headlight."lights come on again only after turning switch to off position, waiting ten seconds and turning them back on. Problem is intermittent but occurs every day. Audi dealers have replaced xenon bulbs, igniters and pigtail to lamps, advising that wires get very hot. Problem has not been fixed and constitutes great danger on dark roads.this has been recurrent on a regular basis for at least two years without a solution.

Vibrations on the road or at idle cause my audi a4 (b7)'s headlights to flicker or even turn off for a brief moment! it occurs at least once every night, and so far audi has issued no remedies. I have the xenon bulbs.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the left front headlight on the drivers side of the vehicleflickered on and off. When he turned the vehicle off for fifteen minutes and then back on , the head lamp would function normally. The failure occurred intermittently. The contact stated that he called an authorized dealership and the dealer explained that they were aware of the problem but did not know how to correct it. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000. The current mileage was approximately 67,000.

The right headlight will dip and then turn off while driving. You can turn the lights off and back on and it will temporarily solve the problem but will turn off again randomly. This problem has happened since i purchased the car cpo in late 2008 but has continued to get worse to the point where now it generally happens once every few minutes while the lights are on forcing me to continually turn the lights off and on the while driving which is very dangerous, not to mention extremely annoying to not only myself but other drivers as well.

The interior surface of the headlight lenses on my 2005 audi a4 are normally 50% to 80% covered with moisture condensation and water droplets.audi claims this is normal and refuse to warranty the lights.audi states in technical bulletin group: 94, number: 05-04, that "the affected headlight lens surface should clear after approximately 10 minutes of light operation, although the entire surface may not clear.audi further states that "condensation does not affect performance of light assemblies".i have found that no amount of light operation provides significant clearing of the lens surface.

Since i purchased my 2005 audi a4 2.0l at my local audi/porsche dealership, i have had recurring issues with my headlights. It started with shuddering and flickering while idled, and now the problem is so bad that my left light will actually shudder, flicker, and go completely out. I have to manually switch my lights off and back on (very dangerous at night) to get them back on, only to eventually shudder and go out yet again. I've taken it to the audi dealer multiple times and they couldn't duplicate the issue and when i brought it to them with the headlight completely out, of course it was out of warranty so they want to charge me an arm and a leg (over $1000) to fix just one headlight even though this is a known issue that you can google "audi a4 dipped headlight" and get thousands of forums full of complaints. The dealership wants togo through everything they can to nickel and dime with new bulbs that don't fix this huge safety problem. The real problem is the ballasts and igniter. I should not have to pay outrageous amounts of money for an issue that's an obvious issue across the board with this model of audi. I'm now afraid to drive at night, especially in rural areas with little lighting because my headlights are so undependable. This is not ok, and audi continually refuses to address this issue.

Driving an 2005 audi a4 quattro on a busy interstate highway, the car began to sputter and experience acceleration surging and deceleration. I was able to exit the roadway and had vehicle towed to dealer, eee motors in springfield virginia. Eee motors identified a fuel system problem, had vehicle shipped to audi of alexandria for further diagnosis and repair. Audi dealer reported fuel pump needed replacement as well as a low pressure fuel sensor. Appears to be same problem as that which resulted in the 2004 audi a4 fuel pump safety recall. Please recall this model year before same safety problem occurs for 2005.

Engine was starved of fuel on a busy highway.apparent fuel pump failure with no warning. Police had to direct traffic until vehicle could be towed.$600 repair to replace audi oem fuel pump.i know others have had the same problem by looking at carfax reports.pump was prematurely defective.mechanic confirmed that fuel filter was clean and functioning (not changed). Also, car now shows faulty fuel level readings (maybe unrelated).incident date 12/21/2009.

My 2005 audi a4 avant shut down today on the freeway.dealer said it was the fuel pump and that it failed early.however, they would not cover the repairs under warranty.i know there are recalls on the fuel pumps for the 2003 model but i believe the problem is actually more widespread.this is a very dangerous problem and to have the car shut down in the middle of the freeway is not normal.this fuel pump issue should be addressed immediately.i know there are many more owners out there that have experienced the same problems.

Fuel pump failed causing engine to stall while driving on a parking lot. Audi a4 2005 1.8 quattro.

My 2005 audi a4 3.0 quattro has 42,000 miles. While on vacation, 300 miles from my home traveling on pch in california the vehicle lost all power.while i was going up a short hill, the vehicle shifted erratically, i looked to see the rpm's and they fell to zero.i immediately pulled to the side of the road and tried to re-start the car.the car wouldn't turn over.i contacted aaa and was towed to a small town which we had passed 10 miles earlier.the shop diagnosed the issue as a fuel pump failure, being no pressure and full voltage to the fuel pump.$818 later, two days and over $300 in rental car fees, hotel and other expenses, my a4 was fixed.once researching on line, there was a recall in january 2006 for all 2003 model year a4, a6 and passats that had faulty fuel pumps. I had the exact symptoms that these 2003 owners experienced, "sudden loss of power." i have contacted audi customer care and they state that since my vehicle's vin number was not part of the recall, it would not qualify for reimbursement, even though the same fuel pump was being used.i kept the faulty fuel pump for future inspection. If this incident happened on a busy freeway, there would have certainly been car-to -car contact of some sort.

Well my all of a sudden didn't want to start it was running fine,i mean i don't know what happened. I was reviewing some info on the internet and seen some recalls on certain years of audi malfunctions.

My car has been taking to service for 3 times with a problem on the fuel system. It makes noises like gas going out of the tank and when you fill the gasoline into the tank, something happen that it stop and does not aloud you to put gas into the tank, it also spit out the gas when your trying to put gas on the car.

Knocking noise under rear passenger seat behind driver.after changing out fuel gauging mechanisms and fuel pump the dealer has been told (by audi usa) that the cause is probably a filter element in fuel tank area which clogs and does not let the tank return air to tank after being compressed when fuel is sent to engine?the vehicle has been in the shop off and on for the last 2 months.although dealer/audi are trying to fix the vehicle this should not happen in a 35k plus automobile.i am only lucky that i still have some warranty time left (vehicle is not yet two years old with about 35k miles!had it not been for the warranty remaining this would have been very labor intensive thus very expensive.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. When the contact started the vehicle she heard a humming noise in the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to taken to the dealer where the fuel pump was replaced; however, six months after the vehicle was repairedthe contact experienced the identical failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the fuel filter was replaced. There were no prior warnings. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 96,000.

I have already filed a complaint numbered 10785621. The woman on the phone was very helpful. However, i do not feel that the process itself allowed me to give enough information on the problems i'm having with my car, the research that i've done regarding it, and why i think there needs to be an immediate recall. I would like to speak with someone higher up on the chain who can give me additional help with the specific issues that i'm having.

Can't star and epc light on.

When the car gets cold, the latch on the trunk won't catch. So, you can have the trunk latch closed when you leave the garage. But when you park in a cold outdoor lot, the latch will come undone, and you can't latch the trunk on the way home. So when you are driving and hit a bump, the trunk lid rattles around. But this only happens when it is cold. The service guys at my audi dealer said, "yeah, this is a problem with these cars."if they know about it, why don't they fix it? they should replace the faulty trunk latches.it seems a safety hazard to have the trunk fly open when you are driving down the road.

I own an audi a4 2.0.this car has a problem of locking unexpectedly and leaving the driver stranded.the first 2 times i was checking my mail at the top of the driveway but found locked out of the car when i returned to the car.fortunately being near the home, i was able to get the duplicate key and get in.the most recent incident happened when my wife started the car and left the engine running to warm the car while she was cleaning the snow.fortunately a policeman stopped and helped her unlock the car but the situation was bad and could have been dangerous.each time i took the car, the dealer could not find any malfunction.the most recent one was a visit to the dealer today.they said that audi is aware of a problem and has put out a bulletin just now, on 02/05/10.changing the entire locks for the car at $1,500 was the recommended solution.now the care is no longer under warranty but they didn't do anything when it was within the 50k warranty period.i checked on google.when you search for "locked-out audi"you see numerous instances of lock malfunction.i believe that this is a manufacturers defect and should be fixed irrespective of the mileage on the car.it is a huge safety concern that needs to be corrected or else a driver can get stranded in a very unfortunate unsafe situation.

Car vin#: [xxx]2005.5 a4 2.0t quattrodefective design trunk latch part that audi should recall.see thread at forum:http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/329499-diy-faulty-trunk-latchaudi owner community members have all agreed this is a safety design defect that audi refuses to recall but seem to have a tsb for this well known issues.replaced the defective part with part #4f5-827-505-dnot sure of the longevity of this new part.$50 part + 1 hour laborthis part should be recalled.its a safety hazard when your trunk does not close properly and potentially pops up during driving.if this happens on highway driving with trunk wide open and things fly out of your trunk as you blindly pull over, its potential for a serious accident is very high. Audi a4 a6 issues with the transmission control module (tcm). My 2005 a4 car had approx 45,000 miles when the check engine light came on. I was taking the car in for am oil change so i had them check the issue with the engine light. I was told that it was the tcm and the car was registering faulty safety codes. I was informed that if i did not get it fixed the car could shut off while driving or the transmission could burn up while driving. I asked way there had not been a recall as it was a safety issue if the car could shut down while driving causing severe injury or even death. The university audi service repr (jordan) stated it was up to audi hq to make such a call. I asked if he had seen other issues. He stated yes that is why audi came up with an updated part. I stated well if there was an updated part that means the old part was no good and a recall should have been issue. I called audi hq and was informed that they track the frequency of part replace and determine a recall based on that. I replied what about safety and the death or injury of your customers. Why would you not evaluate an issue for recall based on safety? she indicated audi values its customers, but relies on dealers to report issues.sounds like everyone is in denial of who is responsible and accountable for the safety and lives of audi car owners. Then, i was told the amount of more than $1800 dollars. I saw several complaints online about the tcm and cost of more than $2500. Now i know why they did not want to issue the recall, but instead update a part and charge its customers versus taking responsibility for the safety issue. I paid for the repairs, as it is my only source of transportation. I did not want to continue driving the car without the repairs as the dealer clearly stated there were safety concerns. Is this another hidden toyota situation where the dealer is more concerned about profits over safety?

The vehicle hesitates for 2 to 3seconds when trying to accelerate from a complete stop. From june 23rd, 2005, when i took delivery of the car, until july 1,2005, i have almost beent-boned while trying to make a left hand turn, 3 times. The car is dangerous!! i took it in to the dealer on july the 1st. They told me then that that is the way the car is designed to operate. I then contacted audi customer relations, and was told the same thing by them. They are not willing to do anything about this problem and i beleive they hope it will go away. I have no way of checking, but i will guess that this is a chronic problems and has caused many accidents.

Shifting from second to third gear and the gas pedal went down to the floor and engine redlined rpms. I had to manually pull the pedal from the floor where the engine and pedal functioned as normal afterwards. I checked the floor mat and it was secure and away from impeding the pedal.

We are the 2nd owner of an audi a4 convertible, purchased in november of 2010 with 25k miles. Within two years, we began to have problems with the cvt transmission and had to have the tcm replaced, which was later reimbursed by audi as a result of a class-action lawsuit. In january of 2014, at 38k miles, audi diagnosed the transmission as defective and needing replacement, transmission slipping when cold, vehicle shuddering. On complaint to audi, they agreed to cover 50% of the costs, which would be approximately $7,000 which resulted in my wife being afraid to drive the vehicle in cold weather. Replace the transmission at half cost.at 47k miles, again cold weather, the problem has worsened, vehicle often won't reverse and transmission locks up unexpectedly. As the vehicle cannot be driven safely, my wife will not drive it until it is safe again. As there is documented evidence of known issues with this transmission (us district court # cv11-00665 bro agrx), audi should be held responsible for 100% of the costs to repair and cvt transmission which results in a vehicle being unsafe to operate.

2005 audi a4 cabriolet with 38k miles, cvt transmission slips badly, won't accelerate, loud whining noise when cold. Audi has acknowledged problems with this transmission and extending warranty for 2004 and earlier vehicles, but not 2005 models, as settlement of class action lawsuit for vehicles with the same cvt transmission. Vehicle problem was diagnosed by audi dealership as needing new transmission and provided a quote for replacement re-manufactured transmission ($6,687.00 and tax). Audi usa agreed in writing to assist with the expense by covering 50% of total cost to repair. Vehicle owner concerned about safety and reliability when driving vehicle in cold weather, especially when in traffic.

There is a huge problem it seems with the transmission control module (tcm). Apparently most audi vehicles will have a problem with it and the repairs are costing the consumers big money. A new one from the dealer costs around 1100-1200.00 dollars and they are used to seeing this problem and don't think its a big deal... Why should we pay if its a problem that they are aware about and ultimately comes down to a bad service by them knowing and not helping pay for a regular problem caused by them???

Driving on interstate 376 through squirrell tunnel the car started to hop. Sputter and just stopped. The dashboard started flashing. After 5 minutes the car restarted and took it to the shop where it was determined the transmission needed replaced.this caused a horrific traffic jam and almost was rear ended.

Sitting, stopped in my driveway, shifted into reverse, (r was lit on dash) yet when i released brake peddle car went foreword; it was in (d) drive! i quickly moved shift lever to park (p) and back to reverse, this time it really was in reverse.

The transmision stalled; it was as if the car lost power but the engine was steel running.

I own a 2005 audi a4.three months out of warranty and with the odometer at 24,616, the transmission control unit on my car started signaling a fault.i took the car to the dealership, boardwalk audi in plano, texas, and was told that the unit was about to go out and that the car could just stop while i was driving down the freeway.the repair cost would be $1490 and it would take up to two weeks to get the tcu because of back orders.if fact, one of the first things the service advisor told me was that they have had to order several of these parts (note - at this one dealership) and that it has taken at least a week to get them in. I also spoke with the service supervisor and service manager and they agreed to pay for 50% of the repairs.both remarked that it was taking two or sometimes three weeks to get the part because of back orders.it seems like, with that level of incidents, this should be investigated.this car should not be having that type of failure with less than 25,000 miles.ii reported it to audi america who responded with complete indifference.

2005 audi cabriolet; back window came unglued; dealer takes no responsibility.said it was because of the florida heat; talking with an upholstery, he reported 5 audi cabriolet's coming in the last week with separated back window just here in naples, fl.also the ecu transmission control module is out, will not go into reverse, indicator lights flashing; dealer of course said it is not a common problem, which i can see from my research it is!

Audi a4 accelerates and decelerates at will. Does not go into reverse gear all the time. Then car must be turned off and on to get it into reverse gear.engine races upon acceleration, or downshifts at highway speeds into low gear causing loss of speed. Completely unpredictable. Unsafe at any speed. My peace of mind is shattered. Car at dealership now for repair which is supposed to cost $1500.the integrity of the auto is substantially impaired.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. The contact stated that the check engine light was illuminated and the transmission was causing the vehicle to shake abnormally. The parking, drive and neutral gears were also illuminated simultaneously.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told the transmission control module had failed. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 58,000.

Transmission shifts from drive to second gear on its own and erratically. Dealer diagnoses failure of transmission control module, replaced. And, at approx 90,000 miles, the rear window detached from the cloth top. Dealer explained it could not be repaired. Top was replaced.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4.the contact stated that the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel.the dealer stated that the transmission control module needed to be replaced at the estimated cost of $2,000.there were no recalls for the vehicle.the dealer stated that it would take more than two weeks for the part to be available due to the high demand.the current and failure mileages were 51,000.updated 6/15/09 updated 06/16/09.

I have read other same problems in this dot site.3- first 2 times repair shop stated a repair. At the moment car is being repaired already 4 months. Many irregularities with service and repairs while at dealers and sub contractors trusted repair shops.

My audi since new has drifted to the right, regardless of the road conditions. Mc kenna audi has attempted to align the car several times.mr. Ford (audi rep) authorized mc kenna to change the camber on the vehicle to it can drive straight. This caused my tire to wear out at an alarming rate. This quick fix was apparently to keep me from going back. I changed the tires and had the car re aligned to manufactures specifications.the car dangerously drifts to the right if i don't counter steer to the left.mc kenna audi stated they can no longer do anything for the vehicle. The vehicle is still under warranty and they will not fix it. I paid $250.00 for the alignment and it was money lost.mc kenna will not refund or fix the warrantied car anymore.they advised me to contact audi of america for further assistance. Audi has not responded.

Steering vibration in car at speeds between 50-65 mph on an intermittent basis.dealer has tried to correct by road force balancing wheels and tires, but has not been able to remedy since vehicle new, despite several attempts.

2005 audi cabriolet convertible. The rear window is parting from the roof. The glue is not holding. This is a major safety concern as the window could leave the vehicle at high speeds and crash into other vehicles. Audi refuses to take responsibility. This is the 2nd audi convertible i've owned (prev 2003) and this was a problem then as well. Something needs to be done before someone gets hurt.

At 2,200 miles, a headlight warning light came on, and i took my car to the dealership.i was told that a mouse had climbed into my engine, built a nest out of the hood insulation, and chewed through wires.audi refused to cover any damages.this incident cost me $1,400.i have parked in the same spot of my underground garage for 3 years, and this never happened to my previous car.i feel audi should be held responsible for damages due to poor construction of the car's undercarrige.

Driving down the road and my car starts smoking and catchs on fire

The accelerator stuck and would not disengage - despite the fact that i removed by foot from the throttle.i applied the brakes to get the car to stop and after a few seconds the accelerator disengaged but then re-engaged (by itself) and then disengaged three or four times in three to four intervals.

I believe this may be a repeat complaint, but ms. Demeter says it is not on file. 2005 audi a4 cabriolet, 6 cylinder (normally aspirated). Sudden persistent acceleration.i was rapidly accelerating from about 25 mph going up a hill trying to make a green light about .2 mile away.when i approached the intersection, i released the pedal but the car kept accelerating. Firm brake pressure slowed the car, but it reaccelerated until i brought it to a stop.i made sure the cruise control was in the "off" position, even though i had not used it. I drove about 2 miles to the next major intersection, where i stopped for alight.while i was sitting there with my foot on the brake, the engine began to rev.i put the vehicle in neutral, and it redlined. I turned the car off, and reached down to see if the floor mat was out of place. I gave it a pull but did not feel it over the gas pedal. I started the car again, and slowly accelerated away form the intersection. The problem has not recurred, even when i tried to reproduce it.

The contact owns a 2005 audi a4. While driving approximately 35 mph, the driver depressed the accelerator pedal and noticed that the accelerator pedal had become stuck. The vehicle suddenly accelerated to 100 mph erroneously. The contact continued depressing the brake pedal and was able to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or possible repairs. The driver inspected the vehicle and noticed that the floor mat retention system failed and caused the floor mat to become lodged under the accelerator pedal, causing the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 69,224.

Unintended acceleration: vehicle continued to accelerate after entering highway.driver put the car in neutral (manual transmission). Tachometer continued to increase until it red-lined. Driver pulled off the highway and turned the engine off. The throttle released with a popping noise. Driver observed the throttle and the mat did not appear to be pushing on the throttle but the mat was not secured in place. Took the car to the dealer (where it was bought and serviced regularly). They ran diagnostic scan, no faults in system. Owners wrote and called audi customer care and were informed car is working as designed. Weather was hot and dry (july).

As i was driving the gas pedal went to the floor full throttle. I almost had an accident. I final got the car over to the road at a stop by putting the car in neutral. The engine revved up as high as it could go. So i cut the car off then cut it back on and it continued to have the same problem. It took 3 times of cutting the car off and waiting a few minutes before the car returned to normal.

2005.5 (midyear) audi a4 2.0twhile driving on the highway, the car began to accelerate out of control for approximately 15-25 seconds despite the fact that the accelerator was not being depressed.this occurred even though no pressure was being applied to the gas pedal.the car quickly picked up speed, reaching speeds of 90+ mph on a crowded urban highway during rush hour.a collision was barely avoided.there was no mechanical obstruction to the gas pedal (i.e there was no mat or debris in the way).furthermore, there was limited brake function at this time.after 15-25 seconds the car stopped accelerating on its own.the issues:1. Uncontrolled acceleration to redline with no control over the accelerator2. Braking function failed to override the accelerator function (as explained by my dealer. If you brake while accelerations, the brakes win, which did not occur in this case.)i had the vehicle inspected by mu audi service department who said that nothing was wrong with the car.

The rear window of my a4 cabriolet started falling out. From talking to other owners mine is not the only one with this problem.

The power window motor on both front doors have recently self destructed, leaving the windows unable to be opened or closed.the car was not involved in any event that would have caused this problem other than normal operation of the vehicle and the windows.the driver's door window motor has been replaced and the passenger door will be replaced within the next few weeks.the inability to lower the window has created an unsafe condition for the driver and/or passengers of the car.

Scratch less than credit card size on all 4 wheels of 2005 audi a4 sedan with mileage of 22,603 driven on only n.y.and ct. Streets claimed by audi to be excess wear and assessment of $702. Wheels are probably defective or a scam to induce people to purchase a new vehicle and have the assessment waived.
