I slid off a wet curvy down hill road and slammed into an embankment. Went unconscious and woke with a large laceration to back of head. Saw that the passenger airbags exploded but none for driver's side. Seatbelt on driver's side tighten so tight could strangled me if i was wearing it. Have video of malfunctioning seatbelt and airbag

Faulty wiring of driver seat airbag necessitating need for rewiring.

On october 28, 2002 the 'air bag' light came on. The car was scheduled for the shop on october 31, 2002.the morning of that date as the car was started the engine was running very rough.i proceeded to take the car to the shop.once i arrived at the shop i informed the service manager of the new problem of the engine running rough.at this time he informed me that one of the ignition coils was faulty.the vehicle has been in the shop since.dt

Involvedin an mva on 1/11/2010 my vehicle struck in front bumper back to radiator support. Passenger airbag deployed drivers did not causing me to sustain many injuries. Person turned left into my vehicle at intersection both vehicles traveling approx.25 to 30mph.

I hit a deer in my 2002 audi a4, but the airbags did not deploy. There was about $10,000 damage to the vehicle. My concern was that the airbags probably should have deployed. Is this normal? *la

Consumer states during a frontal collison, none of the air bag deployed on impact.

The consumer has experienced the following problems:the driver seat motor is inop/lumbar motor/rocks back/forth, the left headlight(moisture collection in the inside due to weather/car wash), the airbag control unit defective, the seat air bag torn, the strap on driver seat belt does not lower/stuck, wires were found damaged under the carpet, and the vehicle has shifting problems/not shifting easily-failed.the consumer also request for the dealer to buy back the vehicle and or compensate the consumer for the time without the vehicle.scc

The ignition coil went bad on the vehicle.

Consumer stated that the coil packs failed, consumer was informed the parts were on back order.

Faulty ignition coils caused vehicle to shut down/stall.

The ignition coil, windshield wipers, right front speaker, radio, right front door control window and lock failed.

Ignition coil failure

Audi 2002 with 12,000 miles still under warranty spontaneously ignited.

Ignition coil failure.received letter from audi on march 3, 2003 regarging recognized ignition coil failures.audi indicated significant failures with ignition coils and promised that in the event of ignition coil failure all repairs would be free.on march 11, 2002, i went to dealer for a regularly scheduled maintenance at 11,000 miles.i asked the service representative to replace the defective coils even though i had yet to experience any trouble.i was informed that audi would not replace the coils until actual vehicle failure.approximately two weeks later, the coils failed and my car died on the road in zero degree weather.after a 90 minute wait, audi roadside service arrived and took my car by flat-bed to dealer.i have been informed by the service representative that only the defective coils will be replaced.my vehicle has six coils.the service representative indicated that all coils will be replaced only when the car is in for a second coil failure.the service representative acknowledged that a second coil failure is guaranteed.the other complaints on this website appear to bear this out.the nhstb should demand an immediate recall of these defective ignition coils.audi has been aware of this vehicle safety issue for months and appears to be quite content to let its customers continue to bear the risk of a catastrophic accident.i would like to know how many complaints of this nature must be written before the nhtsa takes action?

The ignition coil failed on the vehicle.

The windshield wipers, ignition coil, right front speaker, radio, lock control and keyless entry failed.

Consumer states that the ignition coil is defective on the vehicle. This causes the vehicle to lose engine power and the engine light will come on. *mr consumer stated that the manufacturer replaced the ignition coil, but the ignition fails repeatedly.

Takata recall; fuel pump went out while driving causing car to stop and almost lead to an accident. (caelectric components do not always work, window is a big one.wheels all had to be replaced within six months and the axel appears to cause wheel damage.constant leaks such as coolent.

Engine coil failed on 2002 a4 1.8t at 10,600 miles.per audi, replacement part is on national backorder for approximately 2 weeks.indicates that this is a more widespread problem than audi is admitting.when coil fails, car becomes unsafe and undrivable; engine barely has any power.huge safety issue for driver and other cars on the road should the coil fail while car is in use.audi is not proactively replacing all ignition coils when a vehicle presents with one failed coil.audi would not provide price quote to me for replacing remaining coils in the vehicle at my expense (also, they have no available parts to do this, advising that they only have supply to replace failed coils).i do not believe this car is safe to drive until all coils are replaced.please demand that audi research this problem and initiate a recall to repair all impacted vehicles.dealer advises that they are seeing increase in number of vehicles presenting with failed coils.

On december 3rd, 2010, i was driving south on i-405s heading from long beach, ca to san diego, ca. I was driving approximately 45 mph when my check engine light came on and i lost all acceleration in my car. I still had electrical power (ie, indicators still worked, my manual transmission worked and interior dome lights worked). I pulled straight over to the side of the highway at which point i noticed that the hood of my car appeared to be melting and that smoke was rising out of the engine. I jumped out of the car and ran to the side of the road to call 911. Two gracious strangers attempted with two separate fire extinguishers to put out the fire but were unable to. The entire engine compartment was entirely consumed by flames within 2-3 minutes. By the time the fire department and emts arrived, the entire car was aflame and was no longer salvageable. It only took about 5 minutes for the entire car to go up in flames. All that remained once the fire was put out was the rear-hatchback door. Everything else in the car was completely and totally melted and burned. The state trooper who was at the scene of the incident said that the car was so badly burnt it would be extremely hard to determine what caused the fire.i have pictures of the car after the fire and would be happy to share them if needed. The fire was so fast, hot and quick that it was only 30 minutes from when my check engine light came on and i had to pull over, to the end of the entire ordeal.

The ignition coils failed, which caused the vehicle to stall.

Ignition coil failure on my 2002 audi a4 (21k miles). Per my dealer service advisor, car must be towed to a dealer. Lost several hours at work and was given substandard rental car, repair was not completed on the day estimated. Per audi of america policy, only one coil is replaced, we will wait for another coil to prove faulty (which almost everyone assumes will happen, even dealer), i will have to wait at road side again, at which point audi will replace all remaining coils. (hopefully--audi's web site already has said all would be replaced when one fails, beginning in march, but apparently this is not the policy at my dealer.) this has been happening to thousands of audi customers.

The vehicle has been in the shop8 times for misfiring of the fuel injectors.not one attempt has been successful at solving the problem.on one occasion, the car accelerated by itself.on another, the engine continued to run after the key was removed from the car.on another, the car reprogrammed the keys and would not allow me to start the car.on two occasions the car's engine stopped while putting the car into reverse.audi in miami, fl and in alexandria, va have failed to find the cause of these problems and have "never heard" of such complaints.despite these problems, audi consumer relations refuses to replace the car and therefore, i am forced to file under florida lemon law.this is a disgrace on behalf of audi and because of these problems and audi on the corporate level, i would never buy another audi nor recommend it to anybody else.

2002 audi a4 1.8t with gauge cluster problems customer states that this same problem has been happen with other audi car for the last couple of years**nar**ccthe consumer stated she has no way of knowing how much fuel she has or the engine temperature.

Numberous of failures; windshield washer system, driver's seat motor burned out 3 times, all replaced.the first day the consumer went to pick up the vehicle from the lot, the battery was dead, however 2 months later the battery was dead again, and 2 months after that the battery died again. The consumer was told a smaller battery was inadvertently installed in the vehicle. The head light assembly, radio and speakers were replaced.

According to reports on audi forums, coil packs have been failing at an alarming rate. There is one per cylinder, and people have reported successive failures. Audi of america will only replace the failed item. There should be a recall, and all the defective items replaced at the same time.

Consumer stated the ignition coil constantly failed while driving, which resulted in no acceleration beyond 2nd gear.problem has occurred 3 times within last 3 months.

Failed ignition coil pack on 2002 audi a4. 3.0 engine leaving the car inoperable.from what i understand, this is a worldwide major failure mode with vw/audi only replacing the failed coil pack, the other coil packs will fail in time.some owners have had up to 5 coil packs fail at various times leaving them and their families strandedin undesirable conditions and places.many people don't carry cell phones enhancing the problems.a total recall is mandatory in this case, it's not going to get better! ts

After speaking to the dealer who was prompt and helpful, and after investigating on some audi forums on the internet, it seems these coils are very failure prone. They can fail anywhere at any time, and at low mileage. In my case it wasn't a matter of saftey, but of dependability. This is a $36,000 "near luxury" car that really can't be trusted, and may fail anywhere at any time. The dealer installed a new coil, but it is the same part number and manufacturer. (bosch) would be nice if a new (revised) part was issued, and all 6 coils were replaced. Thank you.dt

Coil packs are failing on many of these cars.i had to have 2 fail before they would replace all 4.these should be recalled if this is happening so often to so many.

Two failed coils in less than 1 month. May invoke ma lemon law on next failure if audi refuses to replace remaining two defective coils. *ph **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis**770864

1/10/2003--took the car in to have it checked because of a rough idle and trouble starting.the dealer found no initial problems.2/5/2003--received notice in the mail from audi concerning the possibility of bad coil packs on 2002 a4's.2/7/2003--the car stalled on us at night, in the rain, in the middle of a busy intersection.it took me at least a minute to get it restarted--that may not sound like much, but you should try turning off your car in the middle of an intersection and wait 60 seconds before restarting & taking off.see how may people start honking and/or almost hit you before you move....2/8-2/11/03--the dealer checks the car over.they say the coil packs are fine, but the mass air flow sensor was bad, so they replaced it.i don't believe they have fixed the problem, since the car still idles rough, and still has trouble starting.luckily, it hasn't died on us again (yet). *nlm

Vehicle suddenly lost power while driving due to a defective ignition coil pack.the problem is widespread with this vechicle (audi a4) and is happening to many owners across the country. The manufacturer, audi, is aware of the defect and the fact that failures are occurring in a very high percentage of its cars, but has not issued a recall.instead it is replacing the defective part only after it fails.more importantly, it is not replacing the other defective coil packs in the cars that have not yet failed, thereby leaving them vulnerable to future failures.the cars should be recalled so that all coil packs are repalced.this is a public safety issue.

Email fm anne signorile (ny) re defective #4 coil which caused the vehicle to stall.the consumer requested that all the coils be replaced but the dealer refused. *nlm

First ignition coil pack failed on 3.0 a4 avant, i was distressed to discover that this is a known fault that has happened to a large number of owners with no plans to replace more than the units that fail when the problem occurs. This is unacceptable for a $35,000 car that has less than 3000 miles on the clock, it does not make you feel very comfortable to know that it could happen at least another 5 times. The dealer was very efficient and courteous, but that does not cut it with such a fundamental problem that could strike at any time. With so many customer complaints, audi should be forced to issue a recall notice.

While driving the vehicle hesitates, shakes excessively and will not accelerate.the dealer and manufacturer admit that the ignition coil is defective, but will not replace it until the component fails.the coil has been replaced twice.*nlm

Ignition coil #1 failed, causing drastic loss of power on highway.was at risk of being hit by faster moving cars.luckily was near exit and managed to avoid any incidents.dt

2nd ignition coil pack failed.dealer says part may take up to 45 days to replace

Ignition system failure on low mileage new vehicle. Concerned about reliability of car and safety should system fail and disable the car in dangerous location.dt

This is a more common issue then audi will admit, many people have had this problem and audi still wont replace all 6 ignition coils (they replace them on a as needed basis).

Consumer stated that ignition coil failed while driving, which cause the vehicle to stall on the parkway.consumer feels the vehicle is dangerous.manufacturer aware of defective part.consumer made numerous attempts with dealership however ignition coil packs were not available. Ts

1st coil pack failure, 12/24/02; 2nd coil pack failure, 01/17/03.

2002 audi a4 1.8 t:experienced three ignition coil failures within the past 20 days.when failure occurs the vehicle cannot be driven and requires towing on a flat bed trailer.personal experience and internet research, see audiworld.com a4 (b6) forum and search "coil pack" , indicates a virtual certainty that the coil pack will fail, yet audi will not replace/recall until failure has occurred.this will leave the vehicle and motorist stranded on the road side until towed.present winter conditions of 20 degrees f with snow poses an unnecessary risk. An immediate recall is necessary to replace defective coil packs before failure on the highway.

Audi a4 (1.8t) was "missing" on startup, shaking, severe loss of power. I tried driving to the dealership but had to turn around and park it at home, for safety. Was towed to the dealership, where i learned it was a failed ignition coil pack, and i soon learned i was in good company: technician there estimated there were at least 85 cars -- all 1.8ts of audi and vw -- in several nearby lots waiting for replacement ignition coils. German production was on 3 shifts to crank them out, worldwide. I enjoy this car but can no longer rely on it until all of the original ignition coils -- ending with an "-h" part-number suffix -- are replaced with the current, updated ones ending with a "-j." i'm extremely disappointed (as are u.s. Audi dealers, i've since learned) that vw won't recall all 1.8ts to replace the bad coils, which are destined to fail at some point. Unless there's a recall, i'll never buy another audi or vw and warn as many people as i can to avoid them. This is shoddy customer care at best, and a disregard for my safety at worst.

Failure of engine ignition coils ,causing vehicle to lose power, and creates surging and shaking of vehicle, making it unsafe to drive.happened suddenly while driving.dealer diagnosed as failure of 2 of 4 engine coils.these were previously replaced under recall.contacted audi, but did not receive satisfactory answer.they will not cover repair, and they claimed that it was not a part that required regular replacement and will not state what the life of the coils should be.

Failed coil pack on audi a4.safety issue since auot stalls on highway.dealer indicates audi will not replace more than 1 coil (4 in the car) and i can expect furtehr failures.this is major system-wide failure problem, that audi simply will not deal with.i urge a mandatory recall immediately before accidents ensue.

I have a 2002 audi a4 quattro 3.0{6 cylinder} with its second coilpack problem. There is one coilpack per cylinder.the first one failed at 8750 miles the second one at 9250 miles. Audi needs to recall the vehicle and replace all the coilpacks. Currently they will only replace the failed part.

The car's basic problem is a badly designed coil pack (ignition module).there is a redesigned one but the dealer will only replace the one that fails.leaving three others (in a 4cyl car) to fail at a later date.these failures happen mostly at engine startup, but has also happened to me at the worst possible time also. Like driving in a tunnel where there is no shoulder to pull off to.the engine just cuts off like someone reached over and turned the key...luckily when this happens at speed in a manual trans.car, i just popped the engine back on.dt

Car lost power, then engine died.i am reporting this because i know of more than 30 other owners of this car that have had the same problem. See http://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/144120.phtml for more info

After driving about a block after cold start, the engine began to hesitate.problem got worse.after drivinga total of about 3 blocks, the engine died.there were wisps of smoke coming out of grill.upon opening the hood, discovered a small fire on top of the engine.dealer reports that the fire started because of a coil failure.damage was limited to plastic manifold cover, because fire was put out early.

Car engine was misfiring while check engine light flashed.there was a severe lack of power.dealer diagnosed problem to be faulty ignition coil pack.

I have been in contact with close to 100 other 2002 audi owners through the audiworld website and the coil pack problem is a serious issue.the coil packs have been failing on at least 10% of the 2002 vehicles and audi says they are all isolated cases.when they fail the car barely runs and can create alot of personal safety issues. I want them to recall the vehicles and replace the remaining coil packs.please help.

Ignition coil pack failure - check engine light came on - car began to shake and lack of power - had to be flatbed trucked into dealer - without car 3 days now . Dealer states audi only to replace the defective coil " with new improved coil " what about other 3 ignition coil packs on this engine ? waiting for next foot to drop !

Today was the second failure of the ignition coils, first occured 7/25/02 w/10500 miles on the car, ignition coils 1 & 4 were replaced. Unknown which coils have failed this time. It's thanksgiving day, won't know until tomorrow how many coils have failed. In august i reported the car running rough and wanted the coils checked, dealer stated that without a check engine light or hard failure there was nothing they could do. Today is the second failure in 5 months and i haven't had the car a full year yet. These failures are a safety hazard, i was fortunate to be close to home and driving at a slow speed when each occurred. During today's failure the car could barely go 10mph to get me home. This appears to be a very well known problem with the audi 2002 1.8t.dt

I am one of the many audi owners that have experienced a problem relating to the ignition coils of my 2002 a4 quattro.like other drivers, i was operating my vehicle on an interstate highway when my engine began to loose power, while simultaneously the entire care began vibrating vigorously.after one flatbed trip to the local dealer, and i was informed of a malfunction of one of the four ignition coils on my car with a total of 12,000 miles of use.this problem was not nearly as aggrivating as the information which i have learned from the service tech at two separate dealerships and 3 audi enthusiast websites: this is a problem well-known to audi, this is a problem that has been occurring with frequency for about a year, this is a problem that audi has yet to sucessfully solve.i have been told by my dealer that after replacing just one of the four coils per warranty agreement, with a coil identical to the one that has failed (a replacement is not ready/available) that i am left to operate my vehicle with the full prospect of future failure from the other three coils that audi refuses to replace.this solution strickes me as illogical, unsafe and unfair to the consumer.audi has certainly prided itself as a manufacturer of premium automobiles.the decision to provide consumers such as myself with minimal service solutions, as well as a fundamental lack of information in regards to this apparently widespread problem is contradictory to this firm's intentions of acquiring, retaining and satisfying customers.

Through articles in the boston (ma) globe newspaper1/26 and 2/1 2003, i have become aware of a potential dangerous situation with my 2002 audi a4 1.8t automobile. It seems that the ignition coils are defective and audi has not issued a recall to replace them.

The ignition coil made the vehicle ride rough.while driving, the vehicle lost power and cut off. The dealer stated they would only replace 1 out of 6 coils.the service technician had driven the vehicle five miles and the a second coil failed.audi replaced all six coils then the remaining five were "j" coils.the engine warning light had come on.the vehicle had been serviced repeatedly by father's & sons, but they had not completed the repair.all of the oxygen sensors and the catalytic converter had been replaced.(some twice) the other emission parts were replaced.the service dealer did not give the consumer the paper work because audi did not pay the full cost for repairs.the vehicle was still under warranty. *scc

-the contact stated that there was a bad ignition coil in his 2002 audi a4 causing the vehicle to vibrate violently resulting in his not being able to go over 20 mph without losing control of the vehicle.the contact has experienced this problem 4 times since 2003 and has either towed the vehicle into the dealer or has driven it to the dealer no faster then 20 mph.at the dealer they have replaced the ignition coils on the vehicle.the contact can provide copy of invoice repair if needed. Ignition coil failed on highway. Car "shook" violently until stopped in parking lot. Once car was off the road, the coil housing caught fire. The car stopped in the middle of an express way, pretty dangerous situation. This is a know problemfor 2002 audi a4's (coil pack failure). It is ridiculous that i had to drive the car knowing that some day i'll get stranded on the road. Even after the incident, audi claims that they will just replace the defective one until i get another failure instead of replacing all 4 of them. Should i just wait for another dangerous situation?dt

Left stranded by ignition coil failure on 2002 audi a4 1.8t - this is the second time stranded by this failure

My 2002 audi a4 1.8t had a coil pack failure on 12/18/02.the failure caused the car to sputter lose speed and become unpredictable.it occured at a speed of 30 mph forcing me to take evasive driving action.upon further research, i found out that this failure is occuring on a very large scale with dozens and dozens of 1.8t engines (both vw and audi) having this problem.vw/audi has not issued a recall for these parts and is only replacing the failed part.there are coil packs in each 1.8t.vw/audi is not acting on this problem leaving thousands of 1.8t owners with defective parts in their cars.when a coil pack fails it is a very dangerous situation.

I am writing regarding a sad story about my 2002 audi a4 quattro 3.0 sedan . While i realize that the car is not new, and with 152,000 miles on the road; i am still disappointed with the series of events that has happened to me, not once, but twice now!about a week ago, as i turned the engine on, i heard a loud knocking like something had been hit and fallen apart in the engine. At the same time, the check engine light came on (flashing).i took it to my trusted mechanic. At this point, i am thinking that the issue was with a coil ? but not really since they have been replaced and not that long ago, might i add! while the car was being inspected, the mechanic heard a noise coming from camshaft adjusters. Once they opened the case, they found screws lose that had literally fallen off and broken.the camshaft adjustment housing was also damaged, amongst other parts (i have pictures). How can this be possible? after all, the bolts are encased, and it is not like anyone messed with them. The sad part is that the same had happened on the other side a year ago.

While driving on the city street, the engine overheated and smoke came out. Stopped vehicle on the side road to see what's happening.drove after engine has cooled off to the next body shop. Diagnostic: engine cooling is leaking, water pump is defect. Timing belt will be affected if not replaced as well.

2002 audi a4 with 370k burned a bit of oil which was fine cleaned the engine out with cleaners it smoked a bit which is normal.. Headlights started flickering 'hids' so i parked it. 3 days later i go to take the car on a test drive and the drivers headlight lit on fire ! not sure if it was a headlight issue or a wiring issue.. Insurance will not cover it.

The contact owns a 2002 audi a4. The contact heard a ticking noise coming from the timing belt. Audi brooklyn (665 65th st, brooklyn, ny 11220, (833) 448-2449) was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 150,000. The vin was unknown.

My audi a4 sputtered and lost power. The onboard diagnostics light came on and flashed. Audi roadside assistance towed my car to brookline audi, where it was determined that the ignition coils were to blame. After reading articles indicating that audi will replace all coils, whether they are broken or not, i asked the dealership to replace all coils. They insisted that they will only replace those that are defective, not all as reported in several articles (e.g., motortrend). I told the dealership that i will be driving from ma to ca this weekend. I told them that i do not want to be half way accross the country and have another coil break. I want all coils replaced, but the dealership refuses.

The contact owns a 2002 audi a4. The contact stated that the vehicle would constantly overheat without proper warning. The contact replaced the radiator and thermostat, but to no avail. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who advised that the problem was within the engine, but could not determine the specific cause of the failure. The vehicle was not inspected by the dealer or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

We have a 2002 audi a4 1.8l with 16,700 miles on it (very very low mileage).at 16,700 miles, the water pump (according to the dealer) went bad ... For the year of the vehicle, and the very very low usage, i simply find this unacceptable.

Ignition coil caused vehicled to stall.audi agreed to replace 1 coil but said they did not have the resources to fix the other 4.when asked if it will happen again i was told "it is a crap shoot".the vehicle was sold to me defective and i now consider it "partially fixed".it is a safety hazard being as it stalled in the middle of i-95 last night.

Fuel sending unit failure, "gas tank" failure, coilpack failure on audi a4, 2002

I have an 2002 audi a4. In december 2006 the car suddenly stalled while traveling on an extremely busy interstate. This occurred with no warning at all. After having the car towed ($200 plus) we found that the timing belt had failed which in turn completely destroyed the engine. The car only has 45,000 miles on it and we followed all recommended service. This belt should not have failed and by doing so put my family and everyone else on that highway in a horrendously dangerous situation.

While driving the vehicle the engine light would intermittently illuminate and heavy vibration forced consumer to pull off the road, due to a faulty engine coil.the dealer changed the faulty coil. One month later, the replaced coil failed.dealer refused responsibility.*jg. Ph

While driving out of town the vehicle began to rattle and the vehicle would not go faster than 35 mph. The vehicle continued to rattle and the owner had the vehicle towed to the dealer where they eventually replaced the entire engine due to metal in the oil pan which caused problems throughout the entire system. Provide further details.originally the oil light came on.the consumer stopped and checked the oil level and it was fine.driving a little further the light came on again .*tc

Nar 1/15/2003. 4 of the 6 engine coils failed within the first 6 months of owning the vehicle.

My 2002 audi a4 1.8t was malfunctioning the day i took delivery and has had a surprisingly high number of defects since then. Today, the car is inoperable and audi is refusing to assist me. On 5/15/05 my engine suddenly began vibrating harshly and losing power while driving on the interstate. The check engine light came on, and my dash display was flashing a red warning. After towing my car to my dealer, reeves import motorcars of tampa, fl, i was informed that the problem i encountered is a known defect in audi / vw 1.8 turbo engines.apparently a defect in the 1.8t regarding sludge that clogs the oil system and causes a loss of oil pressure. To rectify this problem, the engine must be flushed and the oil pump, oil pickup, all oil lines and turbo tubes must be replaced. I had never been made aware of this fix, which costs roughly $2,000. Audi denied warranty on my claim, my entire engine needs to be replaced and i am now faced with a service bill of $10,500!!!!my dealer informed me that audi had declared my service history and therefore denied me warranty. (they stated that while all service intervals had been observed, sometimes i was slightly over).additionally, my rental car since may 16th (usually provided by the dealer for warranty work) is now my own responsibility.in summary:1. This is a known defect, fully documented by the manufacturer. 2. The factory is now refusing to accept responsibility for an expensive yet totally avoidable engine failure. 3. This failure was sudden. It was not an issue of excessive wear and tear, or a condition that gradually worsened due to neglect. Therefore, the periods between service intervals should be irrelevant.4. I have sent letters to audi north america's vp in charge of customer relations, mr. Johann de nysschen, without response. Buying an audi was the worst decision i have ever made.

While attempting to turn corners vehicle started to stall. Dealer notified.

My 2002 audi a4 just hit 69,900 miles & the 3rd turbo on my car has just gone bad & has now developed a ticking noise in the valve-train.fiore audi in altoona, pa looked at the car & said they never heard a noise in the top of the motor & that the "dentist drill" turbo noise was caused by an exhaust leak.i verbalized my concerns over oil sludge issues with this car & they pulled the valve-cover & oil pan & found oil sludge build-up in the oil lines feeding the turbo & in some of the oil galleys in the engine.audi of america agreed to replace the turbo and the oil feed lines under audi's extended oil sludge warranty.after the engine was put back together, fiore finally heard the "ticking" noise in the top of the motor.after pulling the head they determined that the engine block and the cylinder head were warped.fiore technicians informed me that these damages were caused by the engine being excessively overheated.the car had never indicated that it had overheated, yet for this "excuse/reason", they refused to cover any repairs regardless of the fact that i had produced receipts documenting that the oil was changed religiously around 3,000 mile intervals (well below audi's initial recommendation that the oil be changed every 10,000 miles, as referenced in the manual, or their subsequent recommendation of changing it every 5,000 miles) with an audi recommended full synthetic oil as per the sludge warranty policy. The oil lines that feed the turbo charger were never checked or replaced during any of the turbo charger replacements, or other oil smoke complaints, until now.after our 3rd turbo replacement, obviously due to oil sludge build-up, i'm now told my motor is no good.had audi taken care of this issue when these problems were first developed & identified, it wouldn't need a new engine at less than 70k miles due to an issue that is well-known with this vehicle & that was also obviously present when this vehicles warranty was in full effect.

Repeated engine coil malfunction

I was driving down georgia avenue when all of a sudden my car began to ride very rough, a dash light came on and the engine lost complete power. I was able to start the car up again and luckily was able to coast down hill to my home. (the car is a 5-speed)smoke was coming out of the tail pipe.i called the dealer in rockville and they suggested that it was probably a coil failure.i had just had a coil replaced in february, when a similar type thing happened on connecticut ave. During rush hour traffic.that time i was able to coast into a gas station.the car died with no previous warning.all four coils have been replaced (4 cylinder) with no reimbursement from audi because the car is no longer under warranty. I asked the dealer whether this was one of the recall items that audi put notice out on and they said no. Now that i read that others have had similar problems with their a4s it seems to me like this is a defect in the system and should be covered by audi.after all, my dealer told me that audi changed the coil system on the newer models because of the problem.

Vehicle loss power and started shaking. Dealer notified. Please provide additional information.

Oil sludge on 2002 audi a4 quattro 1.8t.

Audi service personnel notified me of a cam seal leak during the 10,000 mile servicing.they attempted to fix the problem once, but it still leaked.i brought the vehicle back and they informed me that a special tool from germany is needed to fix the part.so far the car has been in the shop over two months - and still waiting for the tool.amazing, huh?

In december of 2005my red oil light came on, i was advised that my car needed an oil change and to bring it into the dealership. Instead of audi repairing or replacing the engine at this time, they simply changed the oil.in june of 2006 my red oil light came on. The next day the engine in my car began making horrible noises and driving very, very poorly. .my service advisor called me and asked me how often did i change and the oil and who changed the oil in my car.i advised them that they are the only ones who have every worked on the car.he called me back and advised me that audi was replacing the engine in my car.i again was never told about the sludge problems.i was made to feel that i was "lucky" because they were doing me a favorby replacing the engine.at the time that the engine was replaced i was also told that i needed to pay to have the timing belt, ten rollers relay and the water pump replaced. A cost to me of over $500.00.i was told that they were doing me a favor because they were not charging me for the labor, just the parts.in july 2006, i noticed that almost all of the coolant had leaked out of the new engine and was on the floor of my garage.i took the car in for service and was told that there was no leak and that sometimes when an engine is replaced there might be an air bubble and that might cause the coolant level to drop.i again advised the service advisor that the coolant was on the floor of my garage and that without a leak somewhere it could not just come out of the engine.they again checked it over the weekend and advised me that they found a couple of drops of coolant but did not know where it was coming from.i suggested that they drive the car and see if there was a leak.they did just that and found the leak, the major leak.my service advisor stated that the part that was leaking was an old part from the old engine and that i would need to pay $375.00 to have it fixed.

Audi of america denied a warranty on their recall for oil sludge problem (audi leter in file), to all 1.8 t engines, arguing no service was provide on the 13000 miles warranty period.at that time the vehicle was an audi's property & car was in the audi's dealer for service on the 13,023 miles. Maybe negligence for servicing or nor recorded but previously driver was an audi executive getting paid for test & miles.title indicates audi's first owner selling with 26,103 miles when we purchased the car. Records in our file and car just been fixed on our cost.thanks for your replay.pedro.

My audi a4 1.8 turbo engine may have sludging problem - 80k miles.car engine oil light illuminating after driving long distances - about 1.5 hours on the road going approx 60-70 mph.but oil levels are actually fine.oil light does not illuminate when driving in local commuting area.audi will only cover the fix if consumers have receipts for oil changes performed within the 10k recommended mileage.i have to pay $2750 estimated to fix the problem - some engine sludging and oil pressure low.audi will not cover.note that owner's manual recommends oil changes every 10k and does not indicate that these 10k oil changes mustbe done at those intervals.many of these engines manufactured by vw are failing.if the oil absolutely must be changed within 10k or 12k miles or engine sludging/failure will occur - proper notice should be given in owner's manual to indicate that they oil changes absolutely must be performed at 10k miles or engine failure will occur and a high red alert message should be displayed in the dash when system's check is performed by driver.this is a defective engine which poses a safety hazard on the road and should be recalled !!!i actually took my vehicle into the dealership at 16,674 miles because check engine light was illuminating on the dash, dealership indicated ignition coils were bad and replaced.

Water pump bearings were damaged, that caused to rebuilt the whole engine

While driving at 60 mph on the highway timing beltbroke.this caused the pistons to warp and break.this incident has happened four times since consumer owned the vehicle.manufacturer and dealer were informed of the problem.

*scc

Ignition coil failed on highway. Car "shook" violently until stopped in parking lot. Once car was off the road, the coil housing caught fire. The fire ultimately burned itself out, and the car was towed to the local dealership for repair. The dealership notified audi usa of the defect and recommended vehicle replacement. Audi usa elected to repair car under warranty. Multiple failures have occurred since (see list). Ts

I was attempting to jack my audi a4 quattro, when the factory supplied jack collapsed.i received a small scratch and the cladding on the car was gouged.

I own a 2002 audi a4 1.8l turbo. Every time i need to use my headlights, i get a "left headlamp dipped" message andthe left headlight does not turn on. There are no events that lead up to this other than starting the car and turning my lights on. It has occurred now for 1 year. At first, turning the lights off and on repeatedly would temporarily fix the problem and turn both lights on. But now, the left light will never turn on and the error message still appears.i have spoken with and read many audi owners complaints regarding this exact problem- all of which have not solved the issue, even after taking it to audi dealerships for service.audi technicians are unable to find the answer, and audi seems to be perplexed. This is a serious problem when driving at night! essentially, i can not drive at night anymore for fear of losing my only working headlight, and for fear of being ticketed by police. Audi needs to find a solution and fix their headlamps.

No known events lead up to the failure. The message "left dipped headlight" appears and the left headlight stops working at the same time. This problem happens frequently in audi a4 of model year 2002-06.

My 2002 audi a4 3.0 has a recurring issue where the left headlight goes out while driving. I will drive for a few minutes, then get a "left dipped headlight" notification. If i tap the exterior of the light it will temporarily return to power. But within a few more minutes the light goes back out.there was no event that brought on the failure. It just happened one night and has continued since then. No one seems to know how to fix the issue, although one mechanic has said they could replace the whole unit for close to $1000. That's something i can't afford, but this is a safety issue and ticketable offense so i've been forced to limit my night and early morning driving.

After driving for a few minutes the left dipped headlight message displays on the dash and the left (driver side) headlight will flicker on and off a few times and then go out completely.turning the headlights off and on a few times will get it to come on again but only for a short time.this is a safety issue as the lights are a required safety item on all vehicles and it is a ticketable item.this needs to be a safety recall from audi as none of the dealers seem to know how to repair the item without having you spend thousands of dollars trying to swap out parts until you find something that might stop it.most blogs have said that the dealer can never find a solution to the problem after they have spent $2-3k and finally gave up and are driving the car without 1 or more headlights.

I have an 2002 audi a4 1.8t quattro.when i turn the lights on, my left xenon headlight blinks intermittently, then, very often, turns off then back on.i then get an error message regarding my "left dipped headlight."if i turn the lights off, the error message goes away and then the cycle repeats itself again (lights shut off, then error message).this has been going on for several months now.i have complained to the dealership about it, but nothing has been done to resolve this problem.

Passenger side headlight on 2002 audi a4 quattro keeps malfunctioning after multiple dealership maintenance.

2002 audi a4 with hid head lamps turn off intermittently while driving vehicle.get an error code "front right dipped headlight" or "left front dipped headlight" while lights go off completely.has been going on for years such that i had the bulbs replaced but did not fix problem.

The headlights for the 2002-2005(6) audi a4 will flicker on and off and often turn off completely while driving this is not caused by ann accident or improper care but rather faulty manufacturing. It is very common with these vehicles. When this problem begins it will typically occur regularly (every use of the vehicle). Replacing the bulbs does not correct this problem as it is inherent in the igniter which audi charges approximately $600.

2002 audi a4 3.0 quattro sedan has had pulsating/flickering headlights for several months if not a year or two. Central electronic module was replaced however the pulsating headlights continued. Thereafter, audi indicated "left dipping headlight" which occurred when the left headlight died. Previous attempts have failed to solve this problem. Furthermore, there are numerous arguments that support the notion that audi/ audi of america has had a degree of knowledge in terms of this ongoing problem yet have failed to adequately solve it.

The contact owns a 2002 audi a4. The contact was driving 25 mph when the front driver side headlight illuminated on and off before failing completely. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage 143,000.

One day i received a message in my info center about "left dipped headlight" and an icon flashing with an "x" a the stick-figured bulb, went out to the front of the car and noticed my left bi-xenon was out, but my right one was not. Turned the lights/car on and off, once turned back on, still nothing, switched the right bulb into the left side socket, turn the car on, still no light coming from the "left dipped headlight", i immediately went to google this problem when i arrived home later that day, and i found a lot of post all over the internet about this problem with audi car lights going on and them bringing it to the dealer and the dealer telling them they do not know what is wrong, so i went for myselfand they told me that they received this problem before but do not know how to treat it, but for $500 they can order a new headlight and for $200 a new bi-xenon lightbulb and $200 labor we can replace the whole headlight unit. They wanted me to pay $900 for light to come out of my car, even though i paid $40,000 for a car to already do that. Besides the point, they do not know what is wrong with it, i would say a couple hundred people have this problem from all the posts i've seen and also all the people that have not posted anything. Its very dangerous due to the fact after my left one had gone out, my right one had also gone out later that day but came back on after a few tries. But that'sa total blackout i had on the highway, i mean it should be a recall if audi knows about it and doesn't know what to do about it. Please help!

Immediately after the first rainfall in my ownership with this vehicle, both headlights stopped working. Audi has not done anything to fix this problem. This is not a convenience issue but a safety issue for driving at night.

Head lights flicker and go out.the dash computer indicates a dipped headlight, then it goes out. Replacing bulb does not fix problem.

Car jerks then shuts off especially when coming to a stop or after changing gears. It also jerks when on an inclined street, the car starts to roll back, jerks after acceleration, then cuts off completely. After it shuts off, it takes a while for it to turn back on and only to find the check engine and epc light on. It's come to the point where i'm too afraid to drive my own vehicle.

The contact owns a 2002 audi a4. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph she heard a loud popping noise and smoke came from underneath the hood. The contact was unable to drive the vehicle and it was towed to a dealer. They dealer advised her that the differential in the transmission overheated and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified and offered to buy her vehicle for $500. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was approximately 105,000.

I have an 2002 audi a-4 with a constant variable transmission.i have had hesitation problems on and off since 2002.several repairs have been made and the dealer has never addressed the transmission hesitation.since i don't drive the car very often, the transmission is finally skipping.the dealer indicates the car most likely is the beginning to show signs ofthe need for a new transmission. I generally keep my cars over 10 years and service them like a baby.this is disheartening, since the repairs would be more than the car is worth. My daughter had similar problems with her vs passatand after pouring money into it, problems continued. I am very disapointed and will not buy again.

I have an audi a4 2002 with cvt.over the last year or so the transmission has intermittently failed to engage when moving from a full stop. This can happen ina parking lot or my home driveway.after engaging the drive gear and depressing the gas pedal the car fails to move for anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or so.this is especially disconcerting ,and i believe unsafe when it happens at traffic lights.once cruising the car experiences no problems. On two occasions i have reported this to the dealership.on one occasion the intermittent problem could not be recreated.on another they did recreate the problem and notified me that repair costs would be between $1700 and $6000.it is a five year old car with 58000 miles.to add to the problem the trade in value of the vehicle reflects the need to replace the transmission.i am not the only person with this experience.i have found many on the internet.

Consumer states that while driving at any speed and no warning the vehicle will stall and it will be hard for the consumer to control the vehicle. Dealer notified. Ts

2002 audi a4 1.8t, transmission ctv, the car has 75,000 miles everything works in the car with some minor stuff, but the transmission start to jerk when stop in a red light, is almost uncontrollable, it want to move the forward, so i have to press the brake hard so it doesn't move. It starts to get dangerous to drive in that kind of condition. This is the second audi i own and that?s a shame that so good quality car has this kind of problem and the dealers and audi usa don?t do anything about it. You spend 30 thousand of dollars and you have to throw your car away because the fix cost more than what your car is worth.

1. Driving the car.2. Automatic transmission problems.the gear lights will start to blink (park, drive, reverse, neutral) and the car will have difficulty shifting into reverse.when this occurs, the car cannot reverse and on inclines the car will slide backwards.sometimes, when the car slides back, stepping on the brake will not stop the car. Once, the car slid backwards and i could not stop it at all and luckily, there were no cars behind me.3. The gearbox has been replaced costing $2000 and the problem has only been partially fixed.i've been told that the car needs a new transmission, rebuilt transmissions are not available. Audi is aware of the problem & refuses to owe up to their defective transmission.

The contact owns a 2002 audi a4. While driving 30 mph the contact noticed that all of the gear shift indicator lights on the instrument panel had illuminated. Within a few seconds, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. Prior to the failure the contact noticed that the vehicle would hesitate while driving 40 mph and shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The current and failure mileages were 119000.

The problem is with the cvt automatic transmission.i guess you would call it hesitation when you accelerate.when we bought the car we lived in a small town that was very flat with no hills.the car was driven on mostly back roads at approximately 25 to 30 mph.after a few months we moved and the car was driven faster, now the problem was becoming very noticeable.as you accelerate the car hesitates and you have to push harder on the accelerator then the car jerks forward.the car was taken to the dealer several times for different adjustments and still the problem was there. Next i met with an audi tech rep, who drove the car and said that was the nature of the beast.after more complaining they replaced the transmissionmodule, this still did not fix.now i have moved to an area that is hilly, and when you stop at a red light on a hill the car drifts back when you take your foot off the brake.the car has gone to a new dealer for another module and more adjustments and is still not fixed. This is a serious problem that other audi a4 owners that i have spoken to have.audi should have to fix this problem be for someone gets hurt.i thought i was getting a safe, well built, long lasting car, i guess i was wrong.with all of the other problem i have had with this car, i would never buy another audi.i only hope that the other audi a4 owners will take the time to pass on their problems with this dangerous transmission.

An accident occured in my 2002 audi a4 with the new-for-2002 cvt transmission (continuously variable transmission) resulting from a condition that i believe is defective relating to the function of the transmission.after depressing the accelerator from a dead stop, there is a long lag between before the vehicle begins to move.as a result, in order to accelerate quickly in traffic, one must press the accelerator all the way to the floor in advance.this can cause serious problems if one must quickly stop, right after starting.in this case, my fiance accidentally hit the rear of the car in front of her at a light when they quickly stopped just after starting.

The contact owns a 2002 audi a4. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle downshifted to first gear and instantly came to a stop. The contact had no control of the vehicle. The contact coasted to the side of the road and the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop. The mechanic stated that the transmission control module was defective. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The current and failure mileages were approximately 97,000.

This vehicle is an audi a4, 3.0 automatic, 2nd owner, coming off a 3 yr. Lease in which all of the warranty work was performed by the dealer.the vehicle has 62,000 miles.there has been a complete mechanical failure of the transmission.the dealer says it must be replaced at a cost of $9,213.72.during the warranty period. Records show that there were (3) occasions in which the owner complained abouttransmissions problems.on the first occasion, the dealer re-programmed the shift-control software.on the 2nd occasion the dealer removed and cleaned the connection terminals of the transmission control module (tcm).on the third occasion, the dealer replaced the (tcm).then the vehicle went off-lease and the dealership sold it at auction to a used car dealer.since then the car was sold to an unsuspecting customer and no history was ever produced which described the previous transmission problems.the transmission had some internal defect or problem which was never properly diagnosed by the dealership mechanics, and therefore it was just a matter of time before complete failure would occur.of course, the dealership and audi usa in michigan would have you believe that nothing was ever wrong with the transmission, only the (tcm).if that is the case, then why would complete transmission failure occur soon after the vehicle is off lease warranty, especially on a sealed unit, which these units are.

My 2002 audi a4 has a defect with the transmission control module. This defect results in the loss of my ability to put the gear in reverse (automatic cvt transmission). This has happened to me several times within the past month ( which is when this problem started). I was faced with a horrifying experience where i needed to reverse in order to avoid a bus from hitting my car while it was turning onto the road i was stopped at. The reverse did not work, and it acted as if it were in neutral. I quickly shifted to neutral and back to reverse and luckily (that time) it worked. I noticed that when my car doesn't reverse the prnd flashes on the gauge cluster. I have researched this problem and noticed that thousands of people are having the same problem with their audi a4's. It's only a matter of time before i get into an accidentbecause of this faulty error that audi has not recalled. My mechanic confirmed my suspicions of the transmission control module failing and said it will get worse over time.i called my local audi dealer and they said they are aware of this problem but have yet to do anything about it.

I have a 2002 a4 1.8t.in january of 2004, i had the clutch replaced with 22678 miles on it.on monday, october, 25th, i brought the car in for another problem and mentioned that the clutch was hesitating.after evaluation, i was told that the clutch was going again and that my warranty would not cover it.the car now olny has 32,317 miles on it.the mechanic said it was due to "wear" by driving.since march of 2002, when i picked up my new car, i have had the car in the shop for various problems (most of which included electrical malfunctions, shorts, and other malfunctions).

I slid off a wet curvy down hill road and slammed into an embankment. Went unconscious and woke with a large laceration to back of head. Saw that the passenger airbags exploded but none for driver's side. Seatbelt on driver's side tighten so tight could strangled me if i was wearing it. The front seat (driver side) back panel plastic clips broke and the whole back panel loose off. The dealership replace another plastic clips once but it broke again.

Ts

The driver's seat position is controlled by motors, controlled by 3 controls on the side of the seat.the motors move at random, both while the car is in motion and while it's parked (no key, no person in vehicle).the first occurrences involved the seat back moving back and forth.this was an inconvenience.the dealer was unable to duplicate the intermittent problem and chose not to do anything to resolve it.the problem has increased in severity and now the seat itself moves back while the vehicle is in motion.i am 5' tall - it doesn't take much movement for my feet to come off the pedals.i am concerned that this will happen while i am driving and will cause an accident, and believe this is a major safety issue.i am also concerned that the dealer will not resolve the problem if they cannot duplicate it, leaving me at risk. The problem is intermittent and persistent - there is no single date on which it occurs/occurred.the lumbar support also appears to be moving, which means all three motors/controls are moving on their own.

2002 audi a4 customer states that failed brakes caused an accident**ccthe consumer stated that the brakes collapsed upon him trying to apply them. The manufacturer stated the collision must have occurred first, and in the course of the collision, the bracket in which the brake pedal was mounted collapsed, as it was designed to do. (lawyer wrote in on behalf of consumer).

While pulling into the driveway, the brakes failed.the pedal locked up and would not move.there was no braking force at all.i attempted to engage the emergency brake but was unable to before the car crashed into the back of the garage, causing significant damage to the car and the house.the car is currently in the body shop and will then be sent to the mechanic for diagnostic and repairs.

Consumer heard a loud noise coming from the driveway.consumer went outside and saw vehicle rollingout from the driveway, anditcrashed into a parked vehicle. The policewere called, andvehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic adjusted the brakes.

The contact owns a 2002 audi a4.when the vehicle was started, the contact heard a grinding noise coming from the steering column.the grinding noise persisted while driving various speeds and worsened when making left and right turns.the vehicle was driven to a local repair shop and the mechanic stated that the power steering fluid was low.the fluid was refilled and the grinding noise ceased.approximately one month later, the noise returned and was worse than ever.the vehicle was driven to the local repair shop again and the mechanic found that the steering was defective, which caused the power steering to leak.the vehicle has not been repaired and the manufacturer was not notified.the current mileage was 66,000 and failure mileage was 65,000.

I bought a car from a used car dealer in renton wa. After about a year went by i noticed that i haven't received the title. Called the dealer and they told me i have to contact dmv. Talked to a person in the renton office and twice to the covington office. They told me i have to pay a 39 dollar charge to get a title. Decided to maybe trade the car in and found out the frame was bent. I already spent 1200 dollars for parts missing on the car. Now another part isad at another 1500 dollars to make the air work. Apparently the car had been crashed and picked back together just to off it. Complained a out parts missing and they agreed to give me 400 dollars for the first problem. Never did see the money. I would like to have a total refund of the difference from what they gave me for the car after the 25000 dollars they gave me for the truck loadi traded in.

Unexplained accelleration for 1/2 mile serious safety while no one was injured or physically harmed, they could have been seriously injured.in fact my wife who was driving the car was able to avoid a loaded school bus before she was able to find a spot to pull off the road and disable the vehicle. Car was towed to audi dealer.dealer unable to determine what caused accelleration.actually the representative implied that it was impossible for this to happen without a computer code.this is a brand new vehicle approximately 1 week old.primary driver is joan ashman who is afraid to drive this vehicle again.since service has not found anything there is nothing else they can do.deal management has not addressed the issue with us.i have called an left a message for general manager to call.i have contacted audi custer relations and filled a report.they have indicated that it may take some time to investiget to resolve our saftey concern with this particular vehicle.

Multiple cases of uncontrolled acceleration in 2002 audi a4. 2 cases last year i had to put the car in neutral and turn off the ignition. All the others have been momentary lasting less than a second. All cases were after i accelerated, the pedal would not come back. The car has been in numerous times for this problem to the dealer who can never find anything wrong. They have documentedthe problem though. My last time in i discussed the possibility of using the lemon law. I finally had an accident last friday evening pulling off from a light when the people in front of me suddenly braked and my car kept going.

Whiletraveling 15-20 mph vehicle suddenly accelerated. Consumer lostcontrol of vehicle, andhit a small tree to bringvehicle to a stop.vehicle was looked at bydealer/mechanic, but they were not able toduplicate the problem, and determined there was nothing wrong with it.consumer was afraid that this vehicle might do the same thing again, and did not want to drive this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2002 audi a4. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated which caused the vehicle to go through an intersection. The contact engaged the brakes to stop and shut the vehicle off. The contact restarted the vehicle and the rpms increased rapidly so the contact had the vehicle towed to an authorized dealer. This failure was the second occurrence. The dealer performed a diagnostic test but could not find the cause for the failure. The dealer suggested that the floor mat had become caught on the accelerator pedal but the contact stated that it had not happened. The failure mileage was 56,600. Updated 01/18/11 updated 01/31/11

Windshield wipers slowed considerably and stopped working; fortunately we were only a half-mile from home. Mechanic advised this was a known problem with this vehicle and they have replaced many wiper brackets in the past 6 months. Advised they were surprised audi has not issued a recall.

Wipers failed as i was traveling on a crowded highway during a heavy rainstorm.the problem was a seized wiper pivot on the driver's side, which was cleaned and lubricated, and is now in working condition.

Right side mirror automatically adjusts when car is in reverse, however when you go back in first the mirror does not return to the original spot. Audi has said that this is a software problem. It has been several months now and they have not fixed the issue.it is a dangerous issue because everytime you need that mirror it is pointed in the wrong direction (usually into the sky). In emergency situations and general driving, the mirror is never in the correct spot. I have had some very close calls because in order to see in that vehicle you need that right side mirror. I recently had to slam on the brakes at 65mph on the freeway because a guy cut me off, i could have easily moved into the other lane but because the mirror was pointed in the wrong direction, this was not an option. When i slammed the brakes the buy behind me slammed his and slide right by me narrowly bashing my back bumper.the whole thing could have been avoided if the mirror worked.there are others with the same car that have the same complaint.audi again has said it is a software issue however they have not fixed it.it is a very dangerous situation and an accident(s) is waiting to happen. Thanks

The driver's side mirror has auto dimming feature that has failed to work consistently since the vehicle was purchased new.thi same mirror also adjusts itself without the operator touching the adjusment switch.the dealers could never duplicate these problems and the vehicle is now out of warranty.

The side view mirrors intermittently, since the vehicle was new, adjust themselves outward making operation a danger. Never able to duplicate at dealer, now out of warranty and still a problem. Was told they would continue to pay to evaluate, and now they say they will only pay if they find something.

In hot, muggy weather and when operating the air conditioner, the a/c develops condensation on the windshield which severely impairs vision and safe operation of this vehicle.to see out windshield i must run windshield wipers.

On 3-25- i bought a 2002 audi a4 quattro from a local used car dealer. At the time of purchase the "check engine" light was on and the car could not pass inspection.the seller assured me that the car would pass inspection after he changed the catalytic converter. He held onto the car and a week later i got it back and the inspection sticker was affixed. Shortly thereafter while driving the car 20 mph down the street of dracut, ma the rear driver's-side rear wheel fell off. The dracut police responded and documented the incident. They called a tow truck and the car was returned to the seller. He suggested that his mechanic had failed to tighten the lug nuts after doing brake work on the rear brakes...the wheel was re-attached by the seller (or his mechanic). A few days later the "check engine" light came back on since the after-market converter failed and the car could not pass inspection. On another occasion the engine splashguard fell off the car outside the door of the seller. I left the car there. The splashguard was re-attached by the seller or his mechanic (with plastic ties, since he claimed he did not have the parts ... Even though he had my car for over 24 hrs!). What if i had been driving the car when thisoccurred? in both cases i could have been killed or injured, and other people could have been killed or injured as well. I question if these are "isolated" incidents, and if this is an ongoing pattern of deceptive and unfair practices which are placing the citizenry health and safety at risk? i subsequently returned the vehicle to the seller and demanded a refund under the ma lemon law warranty. I was refunded my purchase price. The seller has refused to reimburse me my "incidental costs" as required by this law. I have sent the seller a demand letter and will pursue the matter in court if he does not reimburse the money i lost - a sum o $1738.37.

Takata recall; fuel pump went out while driving causing car to stop and almost lead to an accident. (caelectric components do not always work, window is a big one.wheels all had to be replaced within six months and the axel appears to cause wheel damage.constant leaks such as coolent.

I have had two of my tires come off my car while driving not just the tire but the whole rim and everything came off. The studs broke off the disk. Both times i got them fixed the people told me that they were faulty studs that they weren't strong enough to hold my tire on.
