I am reporting this today as i fear for safety concerns on my 2007 acura tl type s. Recently i have noticed a crack forming on the passenger side front airbag deploy area. This crack is forming perfectly around the fault dash where the airbag would deploy. I fear for safety as if this crack completely forms around the airbag blast area that a malfunction may happen and the airbag would deploy itself. I would like this investigation to happen if possible as i would not want the airbag to self deploy while driving. If i can be any help in this investigation please let me know but i do feel this is something that should be recalled and fixed by acura.
While stationary, a hairline crack appeared in the dashboard on the right side of the passenger side airbag. Over the next couple of months the cracks expanded and on all four sides of the airbag, and now the dashboard has large cracks with a wide gap along the length and width of the dashboard. Moisture can get in and do further damage as well as creating the risk of faulty airbag deployment which could lead to injury or death.
There is a large crack (roughly 10 in.) on the left side of the dashboard.below the crack is where the passenger air bag is located.upon further research, this appears to be a common problem in acura tl production (2004-2007).since the passenger air bag is located right below the crack, there is a possibility that the deployment may be compromised.
My passenger side dash cracked around the airbag.this allows for moisture to get into the airbag compartment which degrades the passenger airbag.acura refuses to replace.the vehicle was stationary and happened overnight.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. The contact stated that the dash enclosure housing for the front passenger side air bag was fractured. The contact stated that the fracture traveled from the dashboard to the windshield. The contact stated that the failure was only evident on the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000.
Dash board crack over passenger side airbags. Many cracks have formed and i am not sure if it has affected the airbag system.
Dashboard is cracked, affecting passanger airbags. Many 3rd gen tl's have this problem, which needs to be fixed please! happens overnight, and worsens. A defect from acura.
I noticed a crack in my dashboard on the passenger side around the air-bag housing after returning from work. Dealer stated it is merely cosmetic and would cost $1500 to replace. The crack has continued to run further on both sides of air-bag. Also, car has been towed several times because of failure to start after parked overnight. Had battery replaced twice. Finally took it to dealership and was told hands-free module needed to be replaced or removed. Removal cost me $200. Replacement would have cost $800. Also, my fuel cap indicator has been coming on for quite some time when the fuel falls below halfway. I have owned this car for 9 years. I keep the vehicle in good condition. Now with the dashboard cracking its value has decreased immensely not to mention could cause the air-bag to deploy without incident. If that were to happen and cause an accident honda/acura would have much bigger issues to contend with. I have contacted acura corporate and they didn't seem concerned by the issue. Dealership was equally unconcerned. These are issues that require recalls before something tragic happens.
Dashboard cracking around the airbag. Concern that the airbag will throw pieces of dashboard at passenger and may not inflate evenly. Potentially injurying passenger.
I was driving at night on i-90 east in washington state, at 60mph when i hit a very small pothole right the front passenger tire, and it deployed the driver's seat airbag, and the driver's side curtain airbag, and locked the seatbelt tight against me. The airbag malfunctioned and hit me very hard disorienting me and barely allowing me to pull over. The airbag malfunction nearly caused me to total the vehicle while i had a passenger in the car with me. No other airbags were deployed.
Dashboard has developed many cracks even with regualar care.this is a known issue for these vehicles.
While traveling on a state roadway struck a pothole at about 35-40 mph. The front passenger side tire hit pot hole however the driver side curtain air bags and seat airbags deployed almost causing me to lose control. I was able to maintain control and pull off highway. The seat belt also locked up. The bags deploying did not cause crash or injury however deployment was very loud and cause ear ringing for 48 hours. I was able to drive vehicle home after making police report. Air bag light is lit up on dash.
The dash has begun to deteriorate/crack around the airbag housing on the passenger side. Cracks began forming while car was stationary and garaged. Any attempt to fix the growing crack will interfere with proper airbag deployment.this appears to be a common issue with this car - please advise.
Dash started to crack at the passenger side airbag on the right side. I believe this is a safety concern since it has become weaker on one side than the other. The crack has started to travel towards the windshield and a little bit towards the grove box compartment. It happened overnight while the vehicle was stationary.
My dashboard has two long vertical cracks directly over the passenger side airbag. This is a known issue with this vehicle as noted by the numerous complaints received. The car has been garaged continuously since i have owned it over 7 years. There was no accident or incident to cause the cracking. It is a serious potential airbag safety issue. Acura does not want to address the issue despite a multitude of complaints. My wife will no longer sit in the passenger seat due to fear for her safety and possible airbag deployment.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. While driving 60-65 mph, the driver, passenger, passenger seat, and passenger side curtain air bags deployed without warning or an impact occurring. The driver sustained chest injuries and the passenger sustained injuries to the neck and side. The driver received medical attention. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 1003671. No further assistance was offered. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 138,000.
The dashboard has cracked over the passenger side airbag.the crack is over 12 inches long right above the airbag.this crack will affect the airbag and needs to be fixed.there are thousands of acura tl's with this same issue.i now recently noticed other cracks throughout the dashboard.honda needs to take care of their customers if they want continuous business!
Last month we had to take the car to dealer bc it wouldn't start. Battery was drained due to hands free system not turning off even when car was off, so we opted to disconnect system (free) instead of paying 6-800 dollars to repair.also car is kept in garage during day and last week we noticed large crack running vertically along outer edge of airbag compartment. No reason for this when car is kept clean and out of direct sun.checked online and found numerous reports of this happening for no reason.i am worried that airbag may not function correctly or may engage without warning if dash is broken. This is not covered and no recall yet.very disappointed with this bc i love my car.
The dashboard cracked right above the passenger side airbag requiring the dashboard to need replacing. Acura won't cover the expense despite the fact this is a safety hazard and very dangerous.
The dashboard, in the areas of the front passenger-side airbag, if beginning to crack.due to the crack appearing in a straight line, seeming to outline the airbag located under the dash, i believe it to be a defect with the airbag.i have contacted my local acura dealer and am waiting for them to notify me regarding "next steps."
Prolonged high temperatures and/ or high humidity cause the dashboard to crack along the right side of the passenger side airbag. In a matter of days, the crack spreads all over the airbag area and dashboard.the material defect effects acura tls and tl types from 2004-2008. Cracks in the dashboard can result in pieces of the dashboard being projected into the eyes and face of passengers once the passenger airbag deploys. The cracks allow moisture into the airbag module which can create the risk of a faulty airbag deployment or failing to deploy which can lead to sever injury or death. Acura vehicles with as few as 60k miles up to 160k are affected by this problem. Acura is well aware of this issue and refuse to assist consumers with the replacement of the defective dashboard. There is a facebook forum (https://www.facebook.com/acuratldefectivedash and car problems forum (http://www.carproblemzoo.com/acura/tl/2007/air-bag-problems.php)where numerous consumers have reported their issue with the cracked dashboard on acura tls. All consumers are concerned that with the defect occurring along the side of the airbag and spreading across the entire dash.my car was parked just like all the other consumers. Some vehicles are housed in a garage while others have been outside in a parking lot or yard.
Warning on message center of 2007 acura tl "air bag may not deploy in case of accident" . This is the 2nd timethecarhasbeen in the dealership for replacement/fix of this exact same issue.this incident occurred june 9th of this year, the previous time was approximately jan 3rd 2008. Parts required to fix the problem according to service manager. I have to believe that there is a major problem with a sensor/ wiringor other part on 2007 acura tl models concerning this problem.
The dash board cracked on my 2007 acura tl. The cracks are above the steering wheel and around the passenger airbag. Acura said they will not replace this because the car is out of warranty. This is obviously at no fault or abuse and it is clearly a defect that such a new car has this problem. I have read numerous posts online about this same problem and it should be classified as a manufacturer defect.
Dash crack. I bought this car in september. In february i noticed a large crack over the passenger airbag. I contacted acura with safety concerns and was told they would do nothing about it.the car was parked in my garage when i noted the crack on 2-11-17. The crack started out the size of a personal checkbook and has grown in length. It spans from the windshield to the glovebox. I had the car inspected by a certified acura inspector and was told the crack was not caused by damage. I reported my estimate of repairs to acura (over $2000) and was contacted. Acura will not help cover any repairs d/t my car not being under warranty or under 50,000. I bought the car used and it was in pristine condition.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. While driving at various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated. In addition, the "air bag system may not function properly, please contact your local dealer'' message was displayed across the message board. The contact previously noticed a fracture on the dashboard near the passenger side air bag. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000. Updated 1/12/16
Dashboard is cracking around passenger airbag
While driving at a steady 35 mph on route 9 in croton-on-hudson, new york the driver side curtain and front seat airbag deployed for no reason almost causing a catastrophic accident.the seat belt actuator is now locked rendering the seat belt useless.acura towed the car to a dealer who uploaded all the computer codes and claims that the owner is responsible for the airbag replacement!the codes listed on the receipt are f3-11, 61-1, 81-55, 25-11.they list a defect code 03217.customer service at acura north america cited the condition of the 4 rims, (which are all scuffed at the edges), and scuffs on the bumper indicate possible reasons for air bag deployment.if this was possible, shouldn't the airbag have deployed when the scuffs occurred?there was no event that should have caused the airbag activation under steady driving.acura seems to have had more examples of this problem as evidenced on various acura forum web pages where unprovoked side and seat airbags unexplainably detonate.the customer service agent at acura had no explanation for this.had this resulted in a physical injury rather than and emotional/psychological one, a court case could have been pursued.
Initially i observed a airline sized crack on passenger side of the dashboard right on airbag. Slowly it enlarged and now i see another crack around the same area. When i checked online, i found that it's not only me but several others have the same issue with acura tls. When i went tithe dealership they say the repair cost is about 2,000 usd.
My dashboard cracked around the passenger air bag...
In the 4th. Of august 2015, i brought my 2007 honda acura to the dealer that sold the vehicle to me to report an unusual pop-up damage to my vehicledashboard just above the compartment that houses the airbag in front of the passenger seating position. After my service advisor checked the damaged dashboard he returned to me and informed me that it will cost me over $2000.00 (two thousand dollars) to replace the dashboard and that there is no other remedies. I asked him if the damage can be repaired with glue and he replied that if i do that, that the airbagin the compartment will deploy. At that point i left the dealership because i was can of socked about the information i just hard and as a result i am wondering if honda company will help to find a solution to this problem as soon as possible because this damage will certainly effect the resale/trade-invalue of my car. Thank you very much and looking forward to a reply.
Cracks over the passenger side air bags that extend over to the drivers side.concerned of safety issues with theairbags deploying with the compromised integrity of the dash.
Passenger dash above airbag, is cracked. The crack began as a single perforation, coming from the windshield direction outward, directly above where the airbag is housed. One day to the next it just appeared. It began with a single crack in july 2017, now in nov 2017, an identical crack lays adjacent to the first, approx. 6 inches apart. I use a sunshade whenever i'm not utilizing a covered parking spot. I've never left my car without a shade during any hot days (leather seats get far too hot to sit on even wearing pants, let along shorts or skirts). I've taken my vehicle into 2 different acura dealerships, who've quoted $2,000+ to replace, with zero help from acura since there's not an active recall. I've had to restrict all passengers to sit in my back seat, which according to my grandmother, "is disrespectful & demeaning". The perforations are looking more like the sealant used to close a hidden compartment (airbag?) has worn out, and the airbag is close to exploding. I planned to upgrade to an acura suv last month, but it appears i'm now forced to resell to the dealership for $2000-$3000 less than the 2 failed deals due to valid concerns. I just can't phantom how acura refuses to recall an obvious defect in their workmanship that puts so many of their own customers lives at risk. So many complaints of the exact same problem, but the costly remedy remains my problem to pay for 1 way or another?! with the rapid rate at which these cracks are growing and threatening the integrity of what's suppose to be a safety device, i may not have a choice of how to handle this soon. I can't afford to fix it and eating it by trading it in isn't something i can afford either.
Original owner of vehicle, never wrecked or in any type of accident, reporting the dashboard is visibly cracked on july of 2016 directly on top of the passenger airbag causing a safety issue that could cause premature deployment or possibly failed or no deployment when necessary. This may cause injury or even death if the airbag does not deploy properly
Passenger side dashboard has developed a hairline crack, which extended automatically, while parked - without any physical collision. This area is above the airbags area. After several days, another crack appeared in the same area. Concerned about the airbag premature deployment on passenger side either while parked or failure to deploy in case of an accident.
The dash is prematurly cracking causing pieces to become potential projectiles if involved in an accident and the airbag deploys. The cracks may possibly also cause the airbag to not properly deploy. Also the powersteering pump is leaking fluid severely. There was a recall issued for every 2007 and 2008 tl, but specifically excluded the type s which is now showing the same symptoms and possible fire risk due to the leaks. The car also has premature wear on the motor mounts and now beeds motor mounts replaced.
The dashboard on the passenger is cracked.i bought the car brand new.the cracked dashboard my present safety issues if the passenger air bag was to inflate.now that the dashboard has cracked, the crack will continue to grow, and possibly jeopardize the integrity of airbag, amongst other unknownsdashboards should not be cracking, and they should be engineered to withstand heat.i believe this is a defective dashboard.
Handsfreelink module draining my battery after car has been idol. Module was replaced originally in 2009, and that replacement now completely drains battery within 72 hours leaving car immobile.
Vehicle's battery drained while sitting for 2 weeks without driving it. Towed to dealer. Dealer diagnosed a battery drain coming from the handsfree link unit. Part was $350+. Dealer explained that the labor was $150+ whether they deactivated the faulty unit or whether they replaced it with a new unit. I opted for the new unit. Total bill was ~$800 which included ludicrous "dealer-compliant" towing company. Dealer also replaced battery at this time (under warranty because i'd had a similar problem 4 months earlier - however it was not diagnosed at that time as hfl unit).car sat again for 1 week. Brand new battery is now completely dead again.
Owned this car since new 12 years ago. Battery always drains if not driven in 7 days or so.constant problem through 4 batteries. Just got a new battery and alternator.car is garaged. Didn't drive it for 10 days. Dead battery again. Blogs tell me this is extremely common with 2004-2008 acura tl sedan 6-cyl.blogs say it is the hands free link of bluetooth that is a chronic drain whether or not the car is running.so i park it in airport parking, take a trip, come back at midnight, a woman in long-term airport parking, totally unsafe for me, waiting for help to jump the car.totally unacceptable.not safe.you need to do something! next block says "when did this happen" and asks for a specific date.i will use today's date, but it happens anytime i don't drive it for 7 days or so.the bloggers all have the same identical same problem.this is chronic.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The roadside service changed the battery on numerous occasions. However, the failure recurred. In addition, the contact mentioned that while driving approximately 65 mph, the battery warning light illuminate and the vehicle vibrated uncontrollably. The contact had to drive the vehicle in a lower speed and it suddenly stalled. The contact was not able to get the vehicle restarted. The dealer was not able to diagnose the failure. Manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
The battery drains down if the car is not started for two days. I have to jump start the car everytime. I have replaced the battery but still the problem exists.
My car sat at airport for approximately a week and would not start upon return.got a jump and was ok for about a week when again it would not start after sitting in the garage for 3 days. I took the battery to the store for a replacement.he tested this 2 year old battery and it was perfect. I went on-line to search for this problem and the years 2004 through 2007 have a large number of incidences exactly like mine.the problem that the on-line audience has found is that over time a partial short circuit in the hfl (hands free link) module appears.this is clearly a latent defect in this module. I wrote to acura customer service and their response did not address the specific problem.i got a "cook- book" response that i should bring it to the dealer for them to check it out. Is there anything you can do regarding such latent defects for out-of-warranty vehicles?
My passenger side dash cracked around the airbag.this allows for moisture to get into the airbag compartment which degrades the passenger airbag.acura refuses to replace.the vehicle was stationary and happened overnight.
The hfi unit/bluetooth overheats or draws power when car is not on. After 2+ days of not being turned on. It drains the car battery.
My battery failed for the second time in a couple of months and required a jump in order for the car to start. I took it to an acura dealership where they determined that the handsfree link system was electrically faulty and was staying on continuously, whether the car was running or not. Hence, there was a constant draw on the battery. To (hopefully) resolve the problem, i had the dealership replace the battery and the handsfree link system.
Parasitic battery drain. Battery (5 mo old)--no bluetooth. Battery tested by shop-ok. Acura link site said since 2005, acura hfl (hands free link) module defective, causing a short in system, thus draining the battery. There is also a service bulletin for this issue. To me, this is not only a safety hazard (dead battery) but a recall item (it has been ongoing problem that hasn't been fixed). The module is located in the roof, which sees extreme temperatures. The dealer knows about this problem and charges $700-$900 to replace the module. The module goes from $285 to $200 on-line and the design has not changed (johnson controls). The time it takes to r&r the module (unplug and plug in) is 10min. I ordered the part and installed myself. Please review this as a recall for all the acura owners who paid absorbent costs to have it replaced by the dealer and those of us inconvenienced with out of pocket $,dead battery and no bluetooth. I paid a bundle for the car originally because it was going to be the last car i was ever going to buy. Now i am selling the car to prevent the next costly repair.
Vehicle won't start after not being used for two days or more. It's been noticed since 2015. Battery was replaced 3 times in ten months. It's a safety hazard that acura should be addressed/recalled.went to my car mechanic to have it diagnosed and was told it's the vehicle's hands free module (bluetooth) that's been causing the drain. I checked online and found out it's been a major issue on this vehicle.honda/acura needs to recall this unit before it causes major accident. It is a safety issue that should be fixed immediately.
I bought the car yesterday and while i sitting in the car lot, after purchase, i was setting up the radio and hfl link. This took maybe 10 min or less. During this time a relatively new battery was completely drained. The hfl never even hinted at working to connect to blue tooth. I also have a 2005 acura tl this kept happening to. The dealer recently told me it's a known problem, but not a recall so inqoukd have to pay to have it fixed. Since it was really expensive to fix he suggested i just remove the hfl link. Which i did from the 2005 tl i have. I haven't had a problem with the battery since. Now this same thing is happening to the 2007. I'm just wondering how long it will be before i have to replace this brand new battery from the hfl link draining it. I can't let the car sit for more than 3 days or it will be completely dead. I would like to have both my 2005 and 2007 hfl working. This seems to be an acura problem and not just for a few cars.
The battery drains after the car sits in one spot for more than two days. Had to buy a new battery. It did it again. The alternator is good. But the battery keeps draining. Can't afford to miss work or taking time to go get the battery recharged every week. This has been going on for a couple of months now.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled and all of the warning lamps illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the hands free link failed, causing the battery to drain. As a result, the alternator and hands free link needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 119,000. Updated 98/29/13 updated 9/13/2013
There is a drain on the battery.we replaced the battery.if the car sits for just an hour or sometimes a few days, it may not start because the battery has drained. We have had to jump it and trickle charge it multiple times.from searching the internet, this is not a new problem for acura owners.acura should fix this as so many cars are having the same issue.
My 2007 accura tl has a battery drain problem.i have a new interstate battery in it.i park it on our driveway and after 3-5 days of it being parked, not driven, the new battery is drained of power and will not start the vehicle.i have to charge the battery.it starts and will continue to start as long as i drive it to re-charge the battery.this occurs very consistently and has for the past year, on and off.
After being parked for about 2 weeks the battery started fine. I drove 10 miles, turned off the car for 1 hour, tried to start the car again and the engine would not turn over.the inside lights were on but the headlights were dim. After trying to start the car several times both the inside lights and the headlights were completely out.i had to call aaa for a jump because the battery was dead.i thought this was odd but then i remembered a friend of mines has a 2008 tl and he has to jump his battery weekly.so i did an internet search and learned that thousands of acura owners are having the same problem and most attribute the problem to the hands free link systems (hfl).so i called acura and they confirmed that the cause is most likely due to hands free link system.why hasn't this been a recall? is acura waiting for some to die first? this is safety issue and a racket! the dealer charges nearly $200 to diagnose the problem and several hundred more dollars to fix it.a recall is warranted!!!
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate. The contact stopped the vehicle and was able to restart the engine. The contact noticed that the tire pressure warning light and check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The failure continued intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostics, where the mechanic stated that the air intake hose corroded and needed to be replaced. The mechanic also stated that there was an electronic failure which caused the warning lights to illuminate. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000. Sm.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl.while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stopped and the key would not release from the ignition.also, the vehicle doors would not unlock.the engine restarted after several attempts and stalled.all the instrument panel warning lights illuminated.the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer, but they could not determine the cause of the failure.the technician stated that the computer was wet from an unknown substance and the failure could possibly recur.currently, the vehicle is undergoing diagnostic testing and the defective computer is being replaced.the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved.the failure and current mileages were 14,000.
Vehicle was parked in driveway; had not been driven for 2 hours.heard a pounding, hammering noise from inside my house and when i entered the driveway the vehicle's engine was running, although it was a very rough idle.there was a smell of something burning coming from underneath the hood.i inserted the key into the ignition to turn off the engine but since the ignition was not in the on, or run, position, to begin with, the key had no effect on the engine (that is, i could neither turn the engine off nor on, using the key), and the vehicle continued to roughly run.i then called the fire department but the vehicle had stopped running when they arrived.however, the fan was running and they thought that was natural after the engine had shut off.i told them that this vehicle had never had the fan run after the ignition was turned off, that it did not have a remote starter (they asked), and that it had really started by itself.they said the smell was a result of an electrical fire in the engine and they disconnected the battery so that the problem did not recur.there were no visible flames and the vehicle has not yet been examined for damage as the incident occurred just a few hours ago.i am the original owner of the vehicle (6 years).
2007 acura tlbattery sometimes drains completely if the vehicle is not used for 2 or more days (nothing left on). Some electronics must not be shutting down and continue draining the battery. Dealer claims it's normal that if you go on a trip your car might not start if it hasn't been used in a few days which is preposterous. Afraid to leave car at airport when traveling.i've had to bring the vehicle in twice in the last 12 months. First time they replaced the battery; last time they could find nothing drawing power.web search reveals lots of people having this problem. Dealer admitted they're replacing lots of batteries - but that doesn't fix the problem.
Key fob folded while driving due to wear, as a result weight of rest of key chain caused ignition switch to rotate to 'off' position resulting in loss of power while driving.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. The contact attempted to start the vehicle but to no avail. The battery had failed. The battery was replaced. Two years later, the failure recurred. The dealer replaced the battery. There were no prior warnings of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,000 and the current mileage was 25,000.
Acura tl long brake pedal travel.
My complaint is about safety issue with 2007 & 2008 acura tl type s car model. The dealer courtesy acura and the manufacture acura are fully aware that acura tl type s car is extremely dangerous and unstable car on snow. I purchased a "certified used" 2007 acura tl type s car for $28,899 from courtesy acura of littleton, co on mar 12, 2010. The acura tl experienced the 1st snow on april 22, 2010. The car performed extremely poor on snow and lost ctrl several times. The car jeopardized the safety of school kids when it lost ctrl in the school premises. No other car had problems in that snow since the snow was melting. I immediately spoke to nick velasquez (gm at dealership) regarding the safety issues. Nick asked me to bring the vehicle for inspection. Ms. Michelle, service rep, at courtesy acura told me that acura tl type s is known to perform poorly on snow due to its design, suspension and power at front wheels. Mr. Gary, acura tech told me that acura tl type s is a dangerous car on snow even with snow tires. This caused me lot of concern. Nick said that his employees namely ms. Michelle and mr. Gary from service dept. Were giving their personal opinion on safety of car. I demanded refund of my money but the dealership refused to give money back. The only option they gave me was to trade the car with basic 2007 acura rdx suv at an additional cost. I ended paying $7,595 more than market price for 2007 acura rdx. I also spoke to another owner and he also told me that his car is extremely dangerous to drive on snow. I filed a written complaint (case # [xxx] ) with acura client services and on june 16, 2010 spoke to ms. Katrina (ext 115093) from client services department. Ms. Katrina refused to acknowledge snow handling issue with acura tl type s. I would request nhtsa to perform safety test on 2007-2008 acura tl type s on its snow handling capabilities as the car is extremely dangerous and can cause serious accidents.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I was driving in icy conditions this morning when my acura warning lights flashed on that the vehicle stabilization system and antilock brakes were not operating. I drove for a few more blocks and stopped the car to call the dealer. The service department said: "this happens under icy conditions. Turn off the motor and see if these systems come back up. If they don't you can bring it in." in fact, the systems did return to normal once the car was turned off and re-started. But, what if i was driving on an icy highway. Aren't antiliock brakes and vehicle stabilization systems precisely needed for just such conditions. If this is a "common problem" for the acura dealer, shouldn't this be reported and the problem fixed in a recall? it makes no sense that these systems should fail under the precise conditions when they are most needed.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle decelerated and stalled. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 120,000.
2007 acura tl premature wear of timing belt caused by either defective or flawed timing belt mechanism. This premature wear will result in unexpected timing belt breakage that will result in immediate lost of all power thus increasing the risk of a crash.
Sm.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl.while driving 35 mph, the contact smelled a burnt odor coming from the vehicle.he inspected underneath the hood and discovered that most of the components were melted.the dealer informed the contact to wait a week until an engineer could properly inspect the vehicle.no repairs were made.the powertrain was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 2,500.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. The contact stated that the drive belts made a squeaking sound when the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing, but was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
The warning light "tighten gas cap" comes one every so often with no understanding of why. Have talked to acura dealer who stated to replace gas cap, ignore it and/or replace valve in motor. When looking on the internet as to why this is happening, i am amazed at the number of owners of 2007 tl's who are having the same problem. It has something to do with emissions. Acura wants $500 to make this light go away. But on the internet threads i have read that some people have had their cars repaired to only have the warning light come back on. Acura should fix this since so many people are having this problem at no charge.
Since i purchased my vehicle i have been back and forth to the dealer at least a half dozen times for the "tighten fuel cap" light. Each time i was told nothing was wrong. I switched dealerships and they finally replaced the fuel cap, neck and another part that i cannot recall now. That fixed the problem for a short time, now i have another diagnostic code, 2 actually, p0171 and p0174. The message center for the fuel cap and these codes all said it is related to my emission system. I see one other person filed a complaint on here relative to the gas cap light coming on. I am coming close to the end of my warranty and asked acura to extend it but was told to call back when it closer to expiring. This is not boosting my confidence right now.

I recently purchased a 2007 acura tl type s with 42378 miles on the odometer. Upon getting home, i found out that the dashboard was cracked in three (3) places. Fortunately for me, the car was still under warranty so i took it in to acura dealership to get the dashboard replaced. While at the dealership i found some other customers with the same issue. I later found out that this was common problem with theacura tl especially in the southern states.another issue i'm experiencing is with the 3rd gear which i also found out to be common with the acuras. Sometimes while driving, the stick would not go into 3rd gear smoothly or sometimes it just pops out of the 3rd gear.the third and final complaint that i have read about and starting to experience is rattling. The interior cabin of the car though quiet from exterior noise seems to be making some noise of its own from the inside starting with the windows. I hope someone at acura is aware of these problems and is dealing with the issue. Beside that, the car seems to be a fine piece of steel.

1.manual transmission frequently "pops" out of 3rd gear when shifting resulting in car going back into neutral and subsequent drop in speed.2. Incident leads to high risk of rear end collision in traffic, possible loss of control, driver attention diverted to re-shifting.3. Dealer advised manufacturer previously aware of the problem, does not have a solution and does not know if/when a solution will be available.no repairs made or available.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl type-s. The contact stated that the vehicle would make a grinding noise when shifting into reverse gear and within a few minutes, the vehicle would shift out of third gear on its warning while driving. The failure occurred on an intermittent basis. He took the vehicle to the dealer. The manual transmission was rebuilt twice but the failure has continued tooccur. He took the vehicle to another dealer who stated that they could not offer him any assistance because there was nothing wrong. The vehicle had not been repaired again when the complaint was filed. He called the manufacturer and he was told that they could not offer him any assistance until the failure could be duplicated. The current mileage was approximately 27,500. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
There is no injury. I have a 2007 acura tl type s with a 6 speed manual. The clutch began to slip and not operate like it did before. I have driven stick shift for 5 years. This is not my first manual car but my 7th manual car. I know how to drive manual. The clutch gave out at around 28,000. Acura of riverside has looked at it and said the clutch is no good and needs to be replaced. He also said a few weeks ago another acura tl type s has replaced the clutch. The service tech has quoted me over $2,000 to get the car working. I believe that acura has a problem with the manual transmission as they did with the automatic transmission in the pass. My other cars lasted between 120k to 150k with the factory clutch. I have research online and other problem are having this problem. It is only fair that they fix this issue as a defective instead of making the consumer pay for their problems. They refused to fix it and consider it my fault. I believe it is a on going problem and i am not the only one with this problem.

I was driving to work early morning around 3.am ,driving on hwy 74ortega witch cuts thru themountains from riverside county into orange county. Its a curvy road and it's claimed a lot of lives,as i got close too exiting the curvy roads and mountains. The last curve is really bad as i went to step on the breaks to slow on the curve the break pedal sank all the way to the floor.and i could not (stop) .the car reached 70mph.on the hwy down hill .their was a lot of traffic in front of me .as i was about to slam into the car in front of me i remember to down shift and it skidded for a few feet then i got some control of the car.i managed to pull onto a shoulder and i got out to check what went wrong with the breaks but it was still dark and could not see anything. I was already late for work and since theirs no cellphone signal.i had too keep driving about an hour more toget to my job when i got their it was a little more sun light so i checked my car again .i looked under my car and saw oil spilling onto the ground and i was able to see the break line hanging from the shockobsorber where it is bolted on too.i looked at the line and it ruptured right out of the calipers. The end that screws into the caliper ruptured right out.the hollow bolt stayed in the caliper but the break line came out.i'm concern about the other three lines .i could of killed someone.thank god it was not at an intersection or by a school.please help to have my breaks lines replaced.
I have metal on metal noise coming from the left front side. I have been told by the dealer that is the brake pad hitting the disk when going over bumps. I don't find it normal, as it doesn't do it on both sides and i have been owning a 2004 tl with the same brembo brakes, and i have not experienced this ever before. "it is what it is" does not sound satisfying to me.
I have noise coming from the brakes since i got the car..
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl.the contact had to make a sudden stop and experienced brake and steering failure.she swerved and crashed into a building.the air bag deployed.the vehicle was taken to the dealer.the diagnosis concluded that the braking system and steering were working properly.the speed was unknown.the failure mileage was 76,059 and current mileage was 76,100.
Acura tl long brake pedal travel.
Nhtsa recalls 12v-222 and 08v-091 were enacted to address safety concerns about the power steering pump and associated hoses for certain 2007-2008 acura tls.for some reason, my vin is not included in the recalls.however, i am experiencing the same symptoms as described by both recalls.so i have questioned acura as to why my vehicle was not addressed as part of the recall but i have received no satisfactory answer other than to point out that my vehicle is outside of the warranty period and therefore the responsibility of the owner.
I was at the dealership to get my car service and found out that my power steering hose is leaking which in 2004 -2008 acura tl recall but since i have2007 acura tl type s it is not under recall. Well it seems like my hose deteriorated and got worn out after 63,000 miles and now there is a leak which could potential cause major damage and lead to a fire. Dealer is telling me its not under recall when it happens to be the exact same hose pipe.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. The contact stated that the power steering hose deteriorated prematurely and resulted in power steering fluid to leaking onto the engine. While the vehicle was stopped, smoke began to rise from the engine where the fluid was leaking. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure dignosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 08v091000 (steering: hydraulic power assists: hose, piping, and connections). They offered no other assistance. The failure mileage was 92,000.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. The contact stated that smoke started to emit from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the high pressure power steering hose was leaking over the catalytic converter. As a result, the power steering hose needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 63,800 and the current mileage was 64,000.
Power steering leak. Power steering fluid is leaking from where the hose and inlet tube meet. The fluid is leaking down into various parts of the engine. The fluid continues to leak out and run low, which then needs replaced. Issue is a fire hazard, and burning of leaking fluid can routinely be smelled. A recall has already be issued b acura. My vehicle corresponds with the model and year of the recall, has the exact issue of the recall, but is not listed under as an affected vehicle through a vin search.
After the voluntary recall for the power steering pump hose to be repaired, the power steering pump began leaking.the dealer will not fix or repair the damage they caused to the pump.
I was driving to the store today and as i drive into the lot my steering wheel started making a buzzing, whining sound, i popped the hood to find that the power steering hose was leaking a lot of fluid. After i parked the car the fluid was leaking a lot more and drippun all over the catalytic converter, engine, axles. I've already spent over 250.00 replacing it at firestone before i found out the car has a recall for the exact same issue and part. It is a used car.
The main power steering hose developed a leak. I own a type s model and according to the local dealership the recall does not apply to my vehicle. This is odd do to the fact that my hose deteriorated in the same manner described in the recall. Many other 2007 and 2008tl type s owners reported the same problem. The new hose installed has a heat shield in the area affected. Obviously they are aware of the problem. Heat caused by the engine near the hose is causing the deterioration. I understand that this also a fire hazard. This was reported online and by the service rep at the dealership. I think that this should be enough to include my model car as part of the recall.
The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. The contact noticed a grinding sound when he started the vehicle. The contact also noticed a grinding sound while turning the steering wheel. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that power steering fluid was leaking from under the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics or repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.
I currently own a 2007 acura tl and my power steering consistently goes in and out. It is extremely difficult to steer when traveling at slow speeds, such as in a parking lot. My vehicle's vin doesn't show that the power steering recall associated with many 2004-2008 acura tls affects my car, however i believe that may be the reason my power steering doesn't work very well at all. I recently had my car inspected at bianchi honda in erie, pa for my annual inspection and they said that the only way to fix the issue that i'm having with my power steering is to replace the power steering hose etc. Can you please let me know if my car's power steering problem can be fixed? thank you. Sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Well today i took my acura tl type s for a carwash as usual and as i was parking on the shade i notice a small crack on the right hand sidefront passenger airbag on the dashboard and as i drove home and park in the garage the crack had gotten bigger and now i'm scared that the airbag might just pop out anytime. So i did some research in a popular website called acurazine where it's a community of hondas and acuras owners and im not the only one with this problem so maybe you guys could do a recall. Thank you for your time
Initially i observed a airline sized crack on passenger side of the dashboard right on airbag. Slowly it enlarged and now i see another crack around the same area. When i checked online, i found that it's not only me but several others have the same issue with acura tls. When i went tithe dealership they say the repair cost is about 2,000 usd.
In the morning when i was in the car i noted a big crack in the dash, passenger side. Look like a air bag going to explode.
This is a generic complaint.a significant number of vehicles use red indicator dials against a dark background including, but not limited to, the vehicle type noted above.approximately 10% of the male population is color deficient often making viewing the dial difficult if not impossible.consideration should be given to requiring easily viewed colors by color impaired individuals, i.e. White or yellow against a dark background or black against white, etc.i've been meaning to suggest this for years but keep forgetting.thanks.
My dashboard cracked around the passenger air bag...
2007 acura tl.consumer writes in regards to dashboard crack near passenger side air bag.the dealership quoted the consumer a price of $989.00 to replace the dashboard.

I own a 2007 acura tl-navi.the front doors of the car are large and heavy.the part or parts of the door hinge mechanism which are supposed to hold the front doors in the open position when entering or exiting the vehicle appear to be under-designed for their intended purpose.as a result, the doors often close unexpectedly with significant force, and can seriously injure a hand or leg.the problem is especially severe when the car is parked in an uphill position, as the force of gravity causes the front doors to slam shut.i request that nhtsa require the manufacturer to re-design the hinge mechanism (or other parts that are defective) and offer them to owners at no charge.

The contact owns a 2007 acura tl. While driving approximately 30 mph over a bump in the road, the contact heard an unusual noise coming from the front wheels. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to determine the cause of the noise. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 149,000.
Dash board crack over passenger side airbags. Many cracks have formed and i am not sure if it has affected the airbag system.
My dashboard has a crack all around the location where the airbag is located . Not sure if the crack in the dash around the airbag is unsafe but i'm concerned about the airbag deploying. I notice on the internet that this has been an issue for a while and acura is not recalling this to be repaired. I have owned several vehicle and have never had a dashboard to crack.
Dash is cracking near the airbag.
The dashboard cracked right above the passenger side airbag requiring the dashboard to need replacing. Acura won't cover the expense despite the fact this is a safety hazard and very dangerous.
Cracked dashboard.cracks have appeared in the dashboard.these cracks haveappeared suddenly and not caused by impact.i believe that this is a defect in the product as there are similar instances of the same make and model with this defectand not found in other manufacturer vehicles of similar age.
The dash has begun to deteriorate/crack around the airbag housing on the passenger side. Cracks began forming while car was stationary and garaged. Any attempt to fix the growing crack will interfere with proper airbag deployment.this appears to be a common issue with this car - please advise.
Started with a hairline crack in the dashboard at the passenger airbag and now have significant cracks all around the passenger airbag. Cracks are now beginning above the center speaker in the center of the dashboard.
Dash is cracking, over the passenger side air bag.seems like a safety issue.
On friday, september 9, 2011 i experienced sudden acceleration.i was parking in a parking spot up against a curb.i was approximately three feet from the curb with my foot on the brake, when the car suddenly accelerated up and over the curb into a flower bed just missing a rock wall.
This week my acura tl 2007 4 dr sdn at begin to miss a little when pressing the accelerator.yesterday as i was pulling forward into an intersection when the light turned green my car would not accelerate when i pressed on the accelerator.everyone started honking at my being in the way and i was able when pressing the accelerator to move the car very slowly to the side of the road.my electronic dashboard started lighting up that i must take my car to the dealer immediately.i turned off the air conditioner and for some reason my car would accelerator fast enough to drive the 10 miles to the acura dealer. The acura dealer checked out the problem and said they found that the p2138 app sensor had an internal failure.they replaced the app sensor.the service person explained that the car has a sensor that is connected to the accelerator and did not respond to pressing the accelerator like older cars used to do when they were connected to a cable.i asked if this was a recall issue and he said, "absolutely not."i shudder to think what would have happened if i needed to accelerate out of the way of an oncoming truck and the sensor failed.
Drivers side power windowon 2007 acura tl went up without me hitting button, i had pressed to go down, got out of car and was closing the door when windowwent up and crushed my finger breaking it badly. I have purchased car from florida , live in new brunswick , canada , the form does not allow for canadian address so i had to put in maine to allow to continue ??
When the sunroof was in the tilt position, i hit the button to close it and it would close, then immediately reopen.the first time it did this, after about 4 - 5 attempts to close it, i slid the sunroof all the way open then closed it.the second time this occurred, i repeatedly hit the button to close the sunroof.it finally stayed closed after about 3 - 4 attempts.the first time it happened, i was driving on the highway at about 60 - 65 mph.the second time it happened i was parked.

The car came with factory chrome wheels. The chrome is failing on the inside bead, and the tires no longer hold pressure. This can cause a catastrophic fail, collision or loss of vehicle control. Wheels can not be repaired locally.
