A large crack on the front dashboard above the airbag on passenger side.
My daughter was proceeding up ramp to merge onto interstate and she hit a pothole the tire deflated later down the road.then after 30 minutes the airbag deployed in passenger seat and up right side passenger side curtain.i took it to acura they said they could not find a reason for the airbags deployment.i found it interesting because a truck had backed over her the prior yr and did over 4000.00 dollars worth of damaged.when we got the car back the acura body shop had charged us for a radiator replacement which they did not do , they had left the wiring to the bluetooth and other things unplugged.the ac wasn't working.i ended up taking it back 4 times.i guess my thing is i feel that either in light of the new accusations with the airbags, was the airbags faulty, or was this negligence on the auto body shop.i have purchased 3 acuras from this dealer and have had nothing but trouble in the last 3 yrs with them.i will no longer be going to them because now the same car where i took the very next day to fix where the airbags deployed gave me an estimate of almost 5000.00 to replace the airbag.i purchased 4 new michelins and had them rotate and balance and have had them do this 3 times since only to find out the whole time that my rim was cracked and this why air was leaking out of the tire which i questioned each time i went to get the oil changed and only when i insisted on them checking the rimover again in front of me, wow now there is a cracked rim and that has been the reason.i feel in my heart this is faulty equipment and they should be liable.
Passenger side dash has multiple cracks around airbag.
Within 12 hours of being parked in the drive way over night,a crack appeared in the dashboard around the passenger side airbag. It was not caused by any trauma or impact. I am concerned that the alteration in the structure of the dash will affect the deployment. It may also allow further compromise to the internal components by being an open system. Furthermore, i am concerned that this is a result of increase in pressure internally as opposed to a dash defect. Could this lead to a spontaneous deployment? this year model is not included in current airbag recalls. Those recalls do cite high humidity areas as a source of concern and i am definitely in a high humidity area (90-100% routinely).
My vehicle has been garage kept since i bought it new in january 2006. In january of 2018, i discovered that the dashboard, where the passenger's airbag is located cracked. The crack outlines the shape of the airbag. I also discovered another crack directly in front of the steering wheel. The concern is that the airbag may accidentally deploy without being involved in an accident. In researching this problem, it appears that this is a very common issue with 2004 & 2006 tls. Lots of complaints with the same symptoms and acura is not taking ownership of the common problem. Thank you.
My passenger dash board has cracked all the way around the air bag. I took my car to a repair shop and they stated it is caused because the air bags go up and down. I feel like this is a safety and should be looked into. I looked online and hundreds of peopled have experienced this problem.
My dash board keeps cracking over time in several places, new ones just pop upping up everywhere.this did not start until last year sometime around 100,000 mi.i talked to local dealership, acura co.and the manufacturer of their parts.they said they wont help me.this is not right.i barely drive anywhere.my car stays in garage and is very well taken care of.never been owned/driven on the coast or fl,anywhere like that.i live in ms.all over the internet,on acurazine, and youtube this is happening to 3rd gen tl acuras.can u help me? the cost for a new dash is very expensive $3000.00+. This is a faulty product on their part. There is no way they should get away with this or not make a recall.are recalls a thing of the past? iv had several problems not of my making that i just paid to have fixed but i am sick of this.car manufacturers should not be allowed to do this to people. They just blow us of!and with those of us who take care of our cars, this means their defects arent goin to occur until much later after any warranty has passed.i assure u this is not from general wear or user error.my car stays inside garage,i very rarely drive it and i keep it waxed just as ones look on a car lot.because i have a truck that i drive mainly the car is rarely used.iv hardly put any miles on car since iv owned it.everywhere everyone that owns this model acura says its happening.i assure u this car does not stay in sunlight, has never been around harsh environments.there is nothing that any driver does to create user error that concerns"cracking all over the dash board"from left side all the way to rt side, top and bottom.just long big cracks appearing out of no where every other month now.never have i seen this on any car with well over 100,000 miles.never.many others say the same thing.this type of theivery and quality should not go on.
Cracked dashboard on both edges of the airbag.
I know there have been issues with the airbags in certain models of acuras and that some of these cars have been recalled.i have a 2006 acura tl and cracks have formed on the outer area of the passenger airbag.as of this moment, my car is not one of the cars listed in the airbag recall, but i worry about the safety of my airbag since something is causing the dash to crack.i'm afraid if the cracks get big enough, there might be some issues in the deployment of my airbag.
Our gps/ navi system needs replaced
Car has been garage parked and when not it garage a sun shade is in place.dashboard has large cracks on driver and passenger side.the crack poses a problem on the passenger side and could affect air bag deployment.there are no issues as of yet but the crack is expanding even being in the garage.
In april of 2013 i noticed a small crack above the steering column in the dashboard of my car, this crack slowly grew all the way to the windshield and has now spidered off towards the passenger side. Just this month (sept 2013) i also noticed it starting to crack around the passenger side airbag. Not only is the crack very unattractive, but it also has me worried about the airbag and the safety of my passengers. After researching this issue, i found that the cracking dashboard is a common issue on the third generation acura tl. In fact most third generation tl owners have had their dashboards crack, and when they contact acura (dealerships, and acura corporate) to try and get assistance, acura acts as though they have never heard of the issue before. Some consumers are also getting an airbag warning light, and to remedy the warning light they have to drop $2,200 to have the whole dashboard replaced. I have also tried getting assistance from acura (both jody wilkinson acura salt lake city, and acura client relations). After leaving my car with them for 4 days, they told me that there was nothing they could do for me. The reason they wont help me is because i haven't been getting my car serviced at their dealership. Since i know how to take care of my own car and perform my own oil changes, i will have to pay $2,200 to have the dashboard replaced. This was the excuse they used to deny me, there are many other excuses they have used on other consumers.acura needs to stand behind their cars and fix this obvious product flaw. They shouldn't be treating their consumers like criminals for not getting their vehicle serviced at the dealership. This is a serious safety issue and people need to start reporting it to every venue they can.
Dashboard over the passenger side airbag split open, exposing airbag cavity.dashboard is now further splitting and i am concerned that the airbag may be damaged by exposure to sunlight, uv rays and/or dust that may now enter the airbag cavity.additionally, i am concerned about safety and additional debris caused by the split airbag cover in the event the airbag does deploy.i have tried to discuss this issue with acura, but they have declined to repair the dashboard.
Dash has cracked completely around passenger side dash air bag, which , inmy belief, will effect deployment. This problem began occurring in the summer of 2016. I noticed the first crack one morning when i took the car out of the garage. I took the vehicle to acura service dept to ask for assistance, and was told that they would only provide $200 on an $2000 bill to replace the dash.
The dashboard is cracking on right side where the front passenger airbag is located. My vehicle is garaged, has low mileage (56k), i bought the vehicle new and it has not been involved in any collision.this defect is a serious safety concern and it is clear from all of the complaints online that the cracked dashboard problems around the passenger airbag area has been widespread on this model for years and acura/honda is still not properly addressing the problem by offering to replace the dashboards at no cost to consumer.when i contacted the dealership service center today, they informed me that there is no open recall for this problem and they did not think it would be covered under any warranties.
While i was driving threw the city streets with were a little rocky suddenly out of no wherethe diver side air bags pop out leaving me confuse without hearingwhile i was driving and a headache
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. While the vehicle was stationary, the dashboard on the passenger side (near the air bag) fractured from the windshield down to the glove compartment. A dealer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that it was a cosmetic concern. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
My passenger side dashboard has a crack approximately 12-18 inches long that appears to outline the air bag door.i am concerned that this could reduce the resistance of the airbag when it deploys, therefore increasing the force with which it deploys into the passenger compartment.
Dashboard crack at outlining of airbag. The crack is about 10-12inches long.
Vehicle airbag may be compromised. Dashboard has begun cracking across passenger airbag area. Two large cracks running from front to back of dashboard. As the owner of the vehicle i am very concerned for passenger safety should the airbag deploy. Vehicle has been garage kept and mileage is only 70k. This has to be a vehicle defect.
The dashboard has a crack in it on the passenger side about where the airbag is located and the scoring is for the airbag deployment.the car is in excellent shape.has spent most of it's life in a garage.only has 85,000 miles on it and is detailed twice a year.there is no excuse for this.i am concerned that besides being a horrible cosmetic defect that it actually creates a safety issue for the proper deployment of the the passenger-side airbag.a simple search online will show you that this is not an isolated incident and must be a defect that acura should repair or replace.
Passenger side dash left edge of airbag is cracked from the front to the windshield. Hundreds of complaints with this problem, acura refuses to do anything. Do not want parts of dash to injure someone if in an accident and airbag goes off as the crack goes below the airbag towards the passengers.
I was driving on the freeway when all of a sudden my drivers side curtain air bags and drivers side seat air bag deployed for no reason. I took it to the nearest acura dealership the next day and every person there was shocked to see air bags deployed with no signs of impact. I opened a case with acura corporate and they sent their own representative to investigate and concluded that rotor dust plate has a mark due to some type of impact. They then referred me to my insurance to file a claim. I filed a claim and my insurance sent 2 separate adjusters to inspect the car and could not find any substantial impact to cause the air bags to deploy. They denied my claim as mechanical failure. I've since tried to reach back out to acura corporate but they informed me they have done their investigation and stand firm on their findings. I have re-iterated what my insurance has concluded but they have gone as far as to tell me a simple pot hole could have caused the airbags to deploy. I believe in some cases where a substantial impact could cause this, but this was not that case. I did not hear/feel any type of impact that day and all of the mechanics and service manager at the dealership are shocked that acura has not stepped up to take responsibility for thisdefect. I did have have some abrasions on my chest from the seat belt locking up, but feel since no substantial injury occurred they are not taking this seriously.
Cracks around the passenger side airbags which is really dangerous to see assuming it to be deployed anytime soon resulting damage to the vehicle and injuring the passenger for no reason.
Vehicle has developed a 16" long crack on the passenger side air bag to the right on the vertical air bag seam. When driven the crack appears to have grown, therefore we have stopped driving it completely until this safety issue is fixed.we fear that the passenger side air bag could be negatively effected by this crack either premature deployment or not properly deploying in the event of an accident.the car has always been meticulously taken care of and garage kept since we drove it off the dealers lot brand new.
Cracks have developed in the dashboard.approximately 10 inches along one side of passenger side air bag. I am concerned this will affect the air bag. Also cracks on driver side dash.
Dashboard is cracking all over the place. This is not regular wear and tear but a design/manufacturing defect. I am concerned about safety of airbag.
Since i bought my tl brand new if it sits 2 days or more the battery dies.once the car is turned off you can hear clicking in the dash. I have purchased a new battery for this vehicle every year and a half. The bluetooth quit within 3 years. Then the dashboard started showing a rectangle image about 3 years in. My acura is garage kept and well taken care of. Got in my car one morning and there is a crack on each side of the airbag going from windshield to passenger seat. This seems extremely dangerous. Not to mention very concerning. This is an expensive luxury car. This should not be happening.
I was driving in town (15-25 mph) when my driver side curtain airbag and seat airbag deployed for no reason at, there was no impact to my vehicle. When the airbags deployed the shock of it caused me to veer to the right rolling up onto a curb and blowing out my front passenger side tire. Had to get the tire replaced and took the car to a collision center to see about replacing the airbags. The people that replaced the tire as well as the people at the collision center were both shocked to see that the air bags deployed with no impact to the vehicle.
Dashboard developed a large crack that aligns with the left side of the passenger airbag compartment while parked. Concerned with the integrity of the dash and safety of the airbag system. The crack allows moisture into the airbag module which can create the risk of a faulty airbag deployment or failing to deploy which can lead to severe injury or death. My passengers regularly include my husband and young son that sits behind passenger seat. Through online research, this material defect affects acura tl and tl type s from 2004-2008, and several forums including https://www.facebook.com/acuratldefectivedash/ shows other owners with the same exact issue. After investigating, this crack cannot be repaired, and total dash replacement is the only safe alternative. My acura has only one owner, parked under carport, kept in excellent condition, 91,000 miles, with all dealership maintenance records for the past 12.5 years. I am not looking for anything further than a replacement dashboard to be installed by manufacturer at this time due to my extreme concern for my passengers' safety. Airbags are very dangerous and can cause serious injury so no need to have an exposed airbag safety issue unattended. I would like resolution asap from manufacturer. Thank you.
Dashboard has developed cracks that cross the passenger side airbag and may affect deployment. Crack is growing noticeably every week so should eventually cross the airbag and dashboard completely. Drivers side has more cracks but there is no airbag there.
My 2006 acura tl dashboard cracked after bad snow storm here. There are many cracks and the deepest is vertical alongside airbag. Acura is not standing behind their product and not correcting defective parts. The vehicle was stationary just never exposed to frigid weather.the car is not safe to drive not knowing when and if airbag will deploy.
Several large cracks have developed on the front dash board. This include the areas in and around the part of the dash that cover the passenger side air bag. I have used no type of cleaner that would have caused this issue and have not been involved in any serious crashes. A search online shows a large number of vehicles of this make and model with similar issues.
Ii had an head collision accident but the airbag on the steer wheel didn't deploy leaving me sever neckhead injuries
2006 acura tl issues withcomponentsuspension:front: control arm: lower ball joint-steering: hydraulic power assist: hose, piping, and connections- cracked dashboard leaves exposures to the actual airbags on the vehicle.*ln
I have been having a battery drain problem. I charge the battery and it drains overnight. Battery was check out to be ok. This is the second battery that i bought in two years. I also bought a portable starter so as not to be stranded. Finally the bluetooth fuse was removed and draining stopped for about six weeks. I am noticing that the car when started in the morning is beginning to sound like the problem may be occurring again. Now the second issue is that the passenger dashboard side is cracked. I feared that the airbag would eventually deploy therefore i took it to the dealer. They assured me that it was safe and wrote on the paperwork i received that it was safe. On hot days, the split on both sides of the airbag are much wider and i can now see the shape of the hinge or bolt that keeps it together. Driving with this situation is very unnerving. Acura needs to remedy this issue. Those that go into my car are appalled and would never purchase an acura based on my vehicle.
Dashboard right above passenger side airbag is cracking. Part of dashboard covering could break loose right above airbag assembly during airbag deployment causing severe injury to passenger. Acura should replace entire dash covering under warranty as soon as possible.
Dashboard is cracking exposing the passenger side airbag.
Beginning in may 2016, the dashboard of my 2016 acura tl began to crack.the crack propagates along the air bag deployment breakaway seam located on top of the dashboard.the cracking occurs on the passenger side of my car.this is location on the dashboard that the air bag deploys in the event of a substantial collision.my concern is that dust, debris and possibly condensation or liquid can drop into the air bag compartment thereby negatively effecting the deployment of the air bag or rendering the air bag inoperable.the cracking is continuing to propagate along the seam of the air bag compartment.eventually, the entire air bag could be completely exposed.
Thr dash has develop thin cracks on or near the passenger airbag such that injury could result from sharp edges hitting passenger upon airbag deployment. The cracks were not the result of any accident or impact. Based upon internet searches, it is apparent that this is a prevalent problem with acuras. The vehicle has low mileage and is always garaged when not in use. Windshield screening is used when parking in the sun.
Airbag on passenger side on acura tl 2006 model i have a crack in the dash. I read several complaints about this. I am gonna have to hire a lawyer cause no one is paying attention to the people who paid thousands of dollars for the acura's. The dealership said 2000. It wasn't even my fault. Now if someone dies in my car because of this, i am suing. I done twittered this problem and all they can say it is not covered. How can you have so many complaints and no one will do anything about it.
Crack in dash board over the passenger side airbag. I feel this is an extreme safety issue in that the airbagmay deploy without impact. This should be repaired as a manufacturer defect. The dealer wants $2000 to replace dash.
My husband and i noticed that there were two vertical cracks on the dash on either side of the passenger side dash airbag measuring approximately 5-6 inches each. The car was not involved in an accident and is not left out in the sun for extended periods of time so there is no known reason or explanation for these cracks. I have found numerous other complaints from consumers regarding this exact issue and i hope that acura investigates it, as this is obviously a defect and a safety issue. If the cracks continue to grow and/or the dash cracks further, it could cause the airbag to deploy or malfunction, not to mention that a luxury car should not have this type of problem. None of my other vehicles have ever had cracks in the dash, including a honda accord that was over 15 years old and an acura cl that was 11 years old.
Cracking of the acura tl dashboard may present a safety hazard with regards to passenger side airbag deployment.the cracks appear to emanate from above the airbag canister and extend for the entire width of the dashboard.the cracks may impact the deployment of the airbag by opening in the wrong direction or too quickly due to the reduction in resistance of the dashboard.the cracked portion of the dashboard may present a safety hazard if it detaches during airbag deployment.manufacturer should provide test and/or computational simulation data to verify that the reduction in dashboard integrity does not impact airbag deployment or create the potential for dangerous fragments.
The dash board has two large cracks on it, and i have been told this can cause damage to the airbags that are directly below these cracks.i have done some research and there are a lot of other owners that are having similar issues as this one however acura is not recognizing this as a defect?
I was driving west on the turner turnpike in oklahoma. Not a hot day nor cold. I heard a pop of sorts and wasn't sure just yet where it came from. But it sounded like it came from the dash. I eventually see a small crack around my front passenger airbag on the right side. Well in less than a month it was gone from front of the dash (near the windshield) to the back. Now the dash looks like 2 separate pieces. The concern is that this is a safety issue. If you pry up a little the dash where it is cracked you can see what appears to be the airbag. I fear this may cause a failed or improper deployment i the event if a accident. If you search online for 2006 acura tl dashboard crack. You will come across hundreds of pictures and complaints where the crack has always formed around the passenger airbag. I feel this would cause that piece to fly at the passenger in the event of an airbag deployment. If you call acura they deny an issue or defect and sometimes even say its weather related. Which can't be the case considering it's been happening i'm the exact same spot for everyone.
There are long cracks in my dashboard around the passenger air bag.
2006 acura tl? whyyyyy is my dashboard cracked everywhere. Is this even safe. Same as all dashboard crack at airbag.i will let spend my extra time letting everyone know not to buy from honda/acura they do not stand behind their product. There needs to be a recall on the dashboards.
Crack appeared on passenger side dashboard outlining airbag. I consider this a safety hazard and defect with acura tl.
Passenger side dash board has developed two 18" horizontal cracks which appear to outline the airbag area. I was surprised to see that my car is not on the recall list. I am terrified the airbag will deploy without cause and injure a passenger.
Well my air bag sensor, my psa light and my tpsa light is on. All dealing with faulty sensors and electrical issues. And my air bag sensor will come on once in awhile, saying it's off. And from the acura tl community 2003 to 2006 have horrible transmissions. Everybody i know and talk to that have a tl that falls into those years, have had their transmissions either rebuilt or replaced. And nobody ever talks about it. I want to make it known that these vehicles have one of the worst transmissions other than the honda oddessy but honda has a recall on there transmissions. So hopefully one day acura can do the same.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. While starting the vehicle, the contact noticed a fracture in the dashboard near the passenger side air bag. The contact was afraid to drive the vehicle due to a possible air bag rupture. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics who all stated that the air bag could possibly deploy. The dealer was notified, but the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000.
One day i was driving in my 2006 tl with my son and he asked me about the crack in my dash on the passenger side airbag. I was blown away by his question. I did not expect this from acura at all! i was completely surprised, i keep my windows covered witha sun guard. It starts at the windshield and follows theairbag directly. I feel this is unsafe since it is at the airbag. It does contract and expand as the weather.
Passenger airbag is attached to the dash board.dash board has multiple cracks that have a concern it may either not deploy when there is accident or plastic parts may fly off.
There are some cracks in the dash around the passenger's airbag. One of them (and the larger one) is just over the crease/seam of the airbag lid. I'm afraid that this may harm (eventually) the proper functionality of the airbag in an event of a collision. The car is only 5 years old and apparently it is a defect of the 2004 thru 2006 models..
The side airbag turned on and when taken to the dealership they said that no codes were found. Apparently, the computer has a malfunction. I was told that since no code were found in the computer, then the manufacturer will not cover it under warranty. Currently i am dealing with the situation, because this is unacceptable to have a warning light on and not do anything to correct it.
Problem started with a small crack on my dashboard by the passenger airbag(outline of the airbag started cracking). After about a week the crack grew all the way to the windshield and now i have 2 cracks about a foot long each perpendicular to each other. Also another crack closer to the middle of the dashboard appeared about a week ago. That crack is about half the size of the cracks by the passenger airbag.
Dash around pass airbag indention is cracking badly from airbag to windshield and down to glovebox. Overnight it appearedwhile parked. I feel as if i was in a accident and airbag deployed pieces of dash could fly out and hurt someone. Car is very well taken care of. Acura says they will fix for $2000. Seems its a safety issue and should be repaired . Have a couple friends with same care all doing exactly the same thing
Dash developed dual cracks that align with airbag compartment and wide enough to visually see the airbag framing components.concerned with the integrity of the dash and safety of airbag system, potential for deploying and harming passengers including my teenage children.after investigating, these cracks cannot be repaired and total dash replacement is the only safe alternative.cracks developed on their own and steadily lengthened to outline both sides of the airbag compartment.mt acura is a one owner, never been wrecked, garage kept excellent condition with all maintenance records for the past 10 years.i am not looking for anything further that a replacement dash to be installed by manufacturer at this time due to my major concern for any passengers safety.airbags are very dangerous and can cause serious injury so no need to have a an exposed airbag safety issue unattended.i would like resolution asap from manufacturer.
Last week i notice a tiny crack about 1/2 inch long on the dash over the area where the passenger air bag is located.within two days the crack had spread to approximately 12 inches long along the right side of where the air bag is located.you can also see a slight rectangular indent around the area where the airbag is located.i am extremely concerned that this may cause problems with the deployment, or even untimely deployment of the air bag, which could cause serious injury.i have also noticed, via internet research, that this is becoming an epidemic with this make, year and model. Apparently, this is an extremely costly repair. Please research and pursue acura for a response. Thank you.
Square crack with lines running to window where airbag is.looks awful and i hope the bag doesn't pop out. This is no luxury car and acura doesn't care. Has less than 100k miles on it.
There are four long cracks developed on the dashboard that surrounds the passenger side airbag and above the driver side console. We are concerned whether these crack will impede the functionality of the air bags.
The dashboard on the driver & passenger side in the area of the air bag is splitting in 2 areas. I observed this when the vehicle was parked overnight. I take good care of my vehicle and this is absurd that this should happen to such a high end vehicle.loss of equity in vehicle is expected and acura(honda) should be held liable and responsible for fixing the issue.a recall notice should be implemented asap to avoid lawsuits from customers as myself. The safety issue is that the airbag system integrity has been compromised.please advise with recommendation. Thank you
I have a 2006 acura tl and just recently a large crack appeared in the dash above the passenger side airbag. I was not driving at the time and i have not been in any type of accident for this to happen.i went out to my car one day a there it was, a large crack right above the glove box to the windshield.it has gotten bigger since i first saw it in october 2015.i can see the white of the airbag through the crack in the dash.my safety concern is if i were to get in an accident with someone on the passenger seat, will the airbag deploy correctly.not only is this a safety concern in my eyes, but there are hundreds of other people with the same problem on their 2004-2006 tl's.there is a facebook page that has started because of the amount of claims.i also have to complain that now there is damage to the interior of my car, i have lost value in my car.i can't sell my car for what it's worth with the dash in the condition that it's in.i take very good care of my car and this is something that shouldn't happen to a "luxury" car.i think honda corp should put out a recall on the dash of the 2004-2006 acura tl's, or at least offer help with the cost.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that the vehicle had four 4 to 12 inch cracks over the dashboardnear the air bags. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 204,000.updated 02/02/16*lj
My transmission is starting to fail gears the rpm is going up and down rapidly.
The passenger dash cracked in a square around the airbag.
My dash is cracking at a accelerated rate. First at the passenger airbag, now over driver side. My concern is if the dash is dry enough to split along the airbag seams, then what would prevent shards of dash flying off if the airbag deploys? the should get some serious safety considerations.
As so many others have stated, dashboard has developed wide cracks on both sides of the passenger airbag from the window to the glovebox. Surely these cracks cause weakening of the dash which could potentially cause incorrect airbag deployment.nhtsa, please require acura to resolve these potential safety issues.
Dashboard is cracking all over the place to the point that the airbag is now visible on the driver side.
2006 acura tl dashboard cracked on the passenger side from the glove box along both sides of the airbag to the windshield, with adjacent cracks. These cracks are a safety concern to me as i believe in the case of an accident the airbag will deploy through the weakest link, i.e., the airbag will attempt to find its way through the crack instead of where it normally goes! i trusted in acra as i have an acura mdx as well. Also the homelink system was draining the battery and always caused starting issues.
Our hands free link unit thatpairs with your cell phone became defective over a year ago.it heats up at night all by itself and gets very hot making me leery about it causing a fire.my wife drives the car and being unable to use the hands free to speak on the phone is very dangerous.additionally, it has ruined two batteries before we could identify what was happening.the dash board on the passenger side has badly cracked around the airbag.we are very afraid that this will adversely affect its deployment when needed or even an accidental deployment when not needed.neither of these items should be happening on any car much less a semi-luxury car such as acura.
There is crack on the passenger side airbag cover of my acura 2006 tl car. I notice the crack on april 20, 2013. Now, tt becomes much larger and longer. I believe that this is a manufacturing defect and a safety issue. I am afraid that the airbag will come out of this crack and hurt people.
On june 23, 2013 i was sitting on the passenger side of my 2006 acura tl and noticed that my dashboard has approximately an 8 inch crack in it.the crack is on a seamwhere the airbag should deploy if i were to get into a car accident. My car has never been in an accident and is a certified pre-owned acura that i purchased at 30,000 miles. It formerly belonged to an fsu professor who has a long standing relationship with the dealership i purchased it from.the crack appeared overnight and is still a surprise to me. How does a $30,000 car get a crack in the dashboard especially where the airbag deploys?i no longer feel safe in this car. Apparently this issue is widespread in the 2004-2006 model year acura tl's.one such forum acurazine has numerous owners with the exact issue.i also joined the facebook group acura tl defective dash-consumer's rights. Both groups encouraged owners to make formal complaints to the nhtsa.
2006 acura tl; dashboard began cracking along the edge of the passenger airbag, within a day the crack grew substantially, this is very disappointing and concerning due to its location on the airbag perhaps if it cracks all the way the airbag could potentially deploy.
Collision with concrete barrier at approximately 60mph. Airbags did not deploy
Takata inflator,i noticed on passengerside one day around july 1017 a ctack where the airbag is located. I would sure dislike if one of my family passengers of myself for that matter gets hurt due to the airbag popping out for no reason i would like this fixed to avoid a law suit for the company..thanks in advance
Dashboard began to crack around the passenger dash airbag hole. This is a known manufacturer defect. This should be a safety concern as it relates to the proper deployment of the airbag in emergency situations. Airbags are intended to be deployed through thedashboard port. That port is designed to be the path of least resistance for the airbag. Deployment of the airbag in an unempeded path is important when a successful deployment is required. The cracks in the dashboard may result in an airbag deployment deflection away from the occupant within the milliseconds required to deploy and that which maybe necessary to prevent unnecessary injury to the occupant. The cracks may also result in flying debris that could injure the occupant upon airbag deployment.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl.while the vehicle was idling, another vehicle crashed into its front end.the air bags failed to deploy.the support bar detached from the frame of the vehicle.the road conditions were normal.the vehicle was towed to a repair shop.the manufacturer stated that her vin was not included in nhtsa recall # 05v510000 (air bags:frontal).a police report was filed.the purchase date and vin were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 15,000.the consumer stated acura in california will not provide investigation report to contact. Dt*: the contact stated while driving 35 mph on a rural road after a right turn, the front wheel hit a pot hole, the driver side air bag deployed and the seat belt became stocked.the vehicle remained inoperable due to a vehicle safety feature.no warning light were illuminated prior the incident.a police report was taken.the vehicle was inspected by the dealership who determined the pot hole impact deployed the side air bag and also stocked the seat belt buckle.the whole incident was determined as an accident by the dealership as well by the manufacturer representative in puerto rico.the consumer protection agency and the insurance company also determined the incident as an accident.the contact expressed concern because the air bag deployment was not a consequence of body impact.
2006 acura tl's side airbags inadvertently deployed.there was no accident and the air bags deployed when i was going 20mph on a local manhattan street (56th between 5th and madison avenues).there was a pothole and the airbag deployed when i drove slightly over it.there's no exterior damage to the car and the tires are perfectly fine.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, it would not crank up. The vehicle operated normally after the contact had the battery jumped. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact stated that there was nothing wrong. The failure occurred again that day and the contact had the vehicle jumped again. The failure was intermittent and became progressively worse. The battery was replaced but failed again. The vehicle had not been repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000 and the current mileage was approximately 40,000.
The hands free link system in the 2004-2008 acura tl is creating a drain on the battery resulting in complete electrical failure of the automobile. The incidence of failure is most common immediately after periods of at least 10 hours of non-use or shortly after starting. As a result from this issue i experience this electrical problem for the past year, from going threw multiple batteries and being in the unsafe situation of my acura tl losing its power in a very busy intersection. This problem has been reported extensively on multiple acura owner's websites/blogs and has been confirmed by the local dealership. Given the possibility for in-use electrical failure, a recall should be issued. Are we waiting for someone to be killed or seriously injured before a re-call is really issued?
The hands free link system that uses bluetooth to connect to your cellular phone is defective. It kills the car battery, always drawing current from the battery even when the car is parked and not running. Had battery replaced all ready. Manufacturer suggested repair is to disconnect the hands free link from the vehicle. I feel this is unsafe . I t would cause people to use there cell phones without the hands free feature while driving, which in turn could cause an accident.so this is a major safety issue and i feel acura should resolve the problem. I have researched this issue and have found that this problem is widespread throughout at least two models of acura (acura mdx and acura tl), and approximately years 2004 through 2008.
I've been having problems with my acura tl (2006) starting.in january of this year, it was determined that i had a faulty battery and that was replaced under warranty.last week, my car was getting very slow to start. I take it in to acura and they tell me that the hands free link has a parasitic draw on the battery and told me it needed to be replaced. I have never, ever used this feature and was incensed that i had to pay $400 to replace it! today, a mere seven days later, my car would not start at all. I had it towed back to the acura and they tell me its the starter...over $500 to fix!!! i've read on several forums that there have been issues with the hfl.being stranded is a safety issue! acura and the government needs to take this seriously. I am a single parent and this has placed a parasitic drain on my savings!

1. Hfl: hand free link device not working 2. Battery drain in a couple days if it is not driven.it was due to hfl rebooting itself or consume power when it is broken.disconnect hfl, then battery drain issue resolved.3. Crack on dash board on passenger side4. Navigation system not working because it is based on dvd and dvd reading error.5. Clock cannot be adjusted because navigation system not working.
When i started the vehicle, it had a moaning sound.i continued driving and the battery light, airbag light, csv light, all came on just before the dash lights flickered on and off, then totally went out and the car engine shut off.when i tried to jumpstart the car, the car started after a few minutes but when the jumper cables were removed, the car instantly shut down.the car was in the middle of the road and had to be towed to my house.three months ago, the car would not start.i got it jumpstarted and it ran perfectly until the above incident occurred.this is the third battery this car has had since 2009.
Battery failure after 18 months/17,000 miles.was advised by service dept. Representative that car's bluetooth feature acts as a "vampire" drain on the battery even when the engine is off.said it's a known problem with 2005 and 2006 models.
For several years, my car's battery would prematurely drain to the point of my having to purchase several batteries in a much shorter period than usual. I had the alternator replaced under the mistaken impression that it was the problem.but only after researching the issue online was i able to determine the true issue.apparently, a module used to control the navigational system is defective, and the company had known for years and still refused to notify owners and fix the issue.i am an agoraphobic person who suffers from bipolar disorder and other anxiety conditions, so simply sticking a car can be traumatic in certain situation.one such situation is expecting both one's navigation system and battery perform adequately and safely all the time; my reason for purchasing the car was because it had the premium navigation option, which, at the time, helped alleviate my anxiety by providing verbal directions in real time to my location, which reduces the anxiety from the agoraphobia.in several occasions over the past few years, my anxiety level has increased to unhealthy levels specifically because of the failure of the battery caused by some phantom drain from a module controlling the navigation system.nissan literally put my life in danger in its failure to warn me about the faulty module. I disconnected the module and purchased a new battery a few months ago and all seemed well, other than no navigation. Now, in the middle of a pandemic my battery is dying again in the most inconvenient places such that i'm literally afraid to drive.please help and make them fix this.while i know longer need the navigation with modern phones, having the bluetooth through the nav system is convenient, plus, i've lost a premium option that was my reason for buying it in the first place!
All of the lights on the inside of my car have stopped working. Including the dash where radio and air are controlled. My car will not start if i don't drive it about every 8 hours. Even when i am constantly driving it has a hard time starting. Http://www.carcomplaints.com/acura/tl/2006/electrical/electrical_system.shtml. All of these people seem to be having the same problem. I am constantly stranded and have replaced my battery, starter and alternator trying to resolve this problem. There absolutely needs to be a recall on these cars. It is absolutely a safety hazard.
Over the years since i purchased the acura 06 tl i have been having problems with the battery- car won't start sometimes. I purchased a few batteries already.finally on 7-24-2017 i was out of town (west palm beach) when my car won't start. I went to closest acura dealer where i learned that the issue was a defective hfl that had a parasitic drain on the battery from defective hfl. Had to purchase another battery. Acura never informed me that there was a defect of hand free link. In past i had toreplace the starter and power steering. Certain features still does not work- passenger front window, heating element for car seat passenger, power outlet in console box.
Automatic sensor ignition, headlights no light sensor automatically damaged.
Battery kept going dead and stranding me in multiple places. Had to purchase a portable car starter in order to keep restarting the car. Couldn't find any official reasons behind it from any acura sources. After some internet searching i found out that the hfl bluetooth module was causing a battery drain for many other owners. Solution was to remove the module. After that the problem went away.was stranded multiple times -- very unsafe!! also had to purchase car starter and new battery!acura dealers refused to pay for the new hfl replacement. This is a safety issue that has affected many drivers. Could be very dangerous.
My car battery kept dying every 3 months, i even got a new battery and my car was still dying. I was stranded at the bank in a parking lot, my driveway, and at work. After it died again and wouldn't start with a new battery i called the dealership. They stated it is my blue tooth, which hadn't been working, that is draining my battery and they have seen it in my model and year. I had to pay $100 to have it disconnected and they want to charge me $400 to have it replaced. I replaced it and now they wont reimburse me. This should be a recall and it is a safety issue being stranded with your car not starting. I have a baby that is not ok with me to wonder if my car will start. Please help acura needs to be accountable for this faulty part and the safety of people driving their cars.
The hands free link system in my 2006 acura tl is creating a drain on the battery resulting in complete electrical failure of the automobile. The incidence of failure is most common immediately after periods of at least 10 hours of non-use or shortly after starting. If not for aaa, i would have been left stranded 300 miles away from my home.. I have replaced 2 batteries thinking that was the cause within the last 3 years. Something needs to be done! recall!!!
The handsfree link (bluetooth) module failed.i've read that this is a common occurrence from the website i belong to acurazine.com (a website for acura owners/enthusiasts).i consider it a safety issue since it allows you to use your cellphone while driving without having to use your handset.the car's stereo speaker system and a built-in microphone allows you to conduct a phone call.i have read it is a poor design choice on acura's part placing the bluetooth module in the car ceiling near the roof.sitting in the sun, the module "fries" and eventually fails.acura refuses to do anything about it stating that it is out of warranty.they want to charge $110 just to diagnose it and over $700 to install a new device.i hope acura owners complain and write letters to acura about this issue.i feel a safety recall should be issued and perhaps even relocating the module out of the heat from the sun.
The bluetooth audio unit on my 2006 acura tl has short circuited and is draining my battery causing the ignition system issues when starting the car in the morning. The short circuit had occurred due to the audio unit being placed above the rearview mirror console, this location is exposed to sunlight which in turn causes the components to heat up and damage the audio unit.
My 2006 acura tl hands free link stopped working. I tried to reboot the system but the screen never changed from the "rebooting" message. A few days later the battery died. I had the battery replaced and had to enter new codes in the radio and navigation systems. Now the navigation and radio do not communicate so there is no voice for the navigation, the clock will not reset and the bluetooth still doesn't work. On top of that, my transmission blew and so did the power steering pump. While it was at the dealer, they tried to fix the issue but said the don't know what is wrong so just replace the whole unit. Which costs $500. I read other acura owner have the same issue and i beg of acura to recall the unit.
I replaced the car battery and within 4 days of being parked it was dead.the blue tooth hands free module continually tries to boot up even when the car is turned off and will leave you stranded if you park the car for a few days even with a brand new battery.i called the customer care line and they said they stopped making the part so the car must be parked with a trickle charger on it.there are only 64000 miles on the vehicle.the company should at the very least have somewhere the part can be repaired at.they just said they were only required to make parts available for 10 years.
I was driving home from work on a very busy street, driving about 55 miles an hour. It was dark and raining and my car completely shut down! no headlights, no dashboard lights and nothing was running...it completely shut off no hazard lights either! luckily i was able to pull off to the side. I pulled my key out of the ignition, then put it back in and nothing happened. I repeated putting my key in the ignition and it started back up. I was able to drive the car home. I pulled it in the garage and shut the car off...pulled the key out and put it back in the ignition and it does not start at all. I know it's not the battery because it was just replaced a few months ago. When i tried it this morning, the dashboard and over head lights come on in the car. When i put my key in the ignition and turn it, everything turns off and the car does not start! help please!
Went to turn on windshield wipers and they won't wipe neitherwill the fluid. Tried with the vehicle parked and in motion
I have been dealing with this serious electrical issue for nearly 4 years now.i have gone through 5-6 batteries and have been stranded numerous places as the car doesn't start after a period of time.this is no okay when you have children, it's a safety issue and acura needs to fix it!with nearly 50,000 miles on my car, my whole navigation system failed.i opted not to have it fixed because they wanted to first try having me buy new cd's to update the system.in conjunction with that fail, the battery dies after a day of not being started...sometimes even over night.i have read that several cars have faulty hfl that heat up and cause this problem.the hfl was hot to touch when i went to disable it.i disconnected mine so that a fire would not start putting me and my family at risk.the electrical dash displays quit working when the navigation system failed making it impossible to see or change the clock and radio displays.even with the hfl link disabled which is what the dealarships suggest for resolving the battery drain issues, the car still loses battery power.i am a concerned parent and feel that this should have been recalled a long time ago as there is plenty of evidence from many documenting this ongoing problem.it is not okay that the battery or electrical system may fail in the middle of driving and causing accidents or deaths. That coupled with freezing temperatures and i am driving two small children around in a car that has a great deal of safety concerns!
Subject: 2006 acura tlhello i'm writing this email to inform you of a safety issue with my acura.the first issue is the dash has spider cracked completely all the way in front of the passenger seat and the airbags are not secure. The second is the blue tooth hands free on the steering wheel has killed 4 batteries and caused me to be stranded after not using car for two days. I had to search the internet to find out what was causing this issue and i found several people with the same year make & model with the same issues, even the dash!this car i bought brand new, more money than i ever should of spent on a vehicle and it is a disgrace!the poor quality of leather on the seats were apparent with in the first 6 months, yet the dealership did nothing! i feel a recall on the dash & blue tooth device is more than necessary!thank you for your time.
The hands free link malfunctions and drains the battery. If the car sits for more than a day, the battery is dead and it will not start. This has left me stranded more than a dozen times.a search on the internet reveals that thousands of acura tls have had the same issue. The dead battery leaves people stranded and eventually leads to the destruction of the alternator.acura knows this is an issue, but has not done anything.
My car (acura tl 2006) caught fire on 11/09/2007 at 10:00pm cst while passing by a mcdonalds drive through; at 6233 n broadway, chicago il. The mcdonalds cashier first noticed the smoke coming out of the hood and pointed it out to me. I pulled the car in the parking lot and tried to put out the fire with my jacket but it only grew bigger. A standing by police officer noticed the incident and pulled me away from the car. 911was called and the fire department arrived in 2 minutes. The car burned during that time. The firemen were able to put out the fire. Acura is refusing to accept this as potential defect in their car. This is clearly an example of a badly manufactured vehicle that jeopardized my life and the life of people around the car. I would like to request that an investigation be initiated and acura be held responsible for this.
The car suddenly started to slow down. The gears started engaging and disengaging.next day the autozone shop used the scanner and found codesp0722-p0780 the cuuse of ca problem.the car runs for a few minutes and then dies, after cooling period of about 2-4 minutes it starts runs for about 6-8 minutes and dies again.three days ago the transmission repair shop also took on highway and had the same problem.he then tried to use the scanner to get the codes and. The scanner would not read anything.thus at his advice i have to replace with new reman transmission coding about $4,650.in addition the dashboard showed tears the last summer.called acura and the said they had no recall on acura tl 2006 car and also about tearing of dash board.
The other day i picked up my twins from daycare at rush hour after work, proceeded to get on the highway where suddenly my tsa & engine lights come on, my car goes limp and we were in a very near-miss accident situation.i try to keep my calm as my children are keenly aware that something is wrong.i look at the dash, i look at the cars coming from the back and side, and i slowly creep along and immediately put my hazards on.now i have to get myself from the left lane and maneuver in to the right with people coming up that can't yet see my distress signal.fortunately, it was in fact a near-miss, and i was able to pull out of the driving lanes, stop my car, turn it off, and call my husband for help. I found that this exact situation has happened to many customers.surely, there must be a recall on this accelerator pedal position sensor (app sensor).
2006 acura tl 6 spd. 36,667 miles.defective abs/vsa modulator leading to air in brake lines, spongy brake pedal with inconsistent unpredictable braking ability (dangerous conditions).
This model and year has numerous of complaints about the front dashboard cracking at an early stage. Also the valve cover gaskets leaks prematurely. And finally the transmission began slipping out of gear which i had to have it rebuilt. Please address these issues.
Bad transmission! car didn't move.

Engine mounts are broken.i have own more than 10 cars and i have never had the engine mounts fail. The car has 75000 miles. Acura should replace the engine mounts.it appears that i am not the only one with the same problem.
My transmission ran out in freeway and it almost killed me i need a recall

2006 hands free link stopped working after less than 5 years.to replace the part, acura charges approximately $650+tax.i have heard that the dealer will replace the part for $700....parts and labor.the labor involved in minimal.also, to diagnose the problem, the dealer want $110.there are many others out there who have a similar problem, as i researched this issue via the internet.acura should provide a recall or replacement of this part an no cost.
Xm radio malfunction/radio malfunction/handsfree link malfunction/navigation system malfunction.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. While driving at approximately 50 mph, an abnormal noise emitted from the steering wheel. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that there was fluid leaking from under the front side. In addition, the contact mentioned that the navigation system was defective. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was a crack in the power steering hose and the navigation system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
I was driving my acura home the other night about 7:30pm in the pouring down rain.all of the sudden both of my headlights went out at once and the high beams did not work either.i couldn't even see the side of the road to pull over, so i followed a semi's taillights until i could take the next exit.it was terrifying.we took the car to a mechanic and he couldn't figure out the problem so he called acura in fife and they said it was an electrical issue and they had been having trouble with other cars doing the same thing.they want $1600 to fix headlights!!shouldn't this have been a recall issue since there is a huge safety factor here, putting not only the driver in danger, but other drivers on the road as well.i do plan on writing acura as well.

Vehicle transmission stopped and failed go into gear while in motion/park on road. No warning lights (check engine) were on before incident.notified acura client services of the issue. Acura provide no feedback or solution for this problem.problem was isolated to defective transmission. Total cost to replace defective transmission $1850.00.

I was driving down the highway at ~60+ mph in traffic and tapped the brakes. The car lurched and almost came to a dead stop (i later learned that the automatic transmission had shifted into 1st gear). This happened 2-3 other times as i tried to move over and get out of the traffic flow w/o being able to fully deploy the brakes. I had to "coast" to a stop. The force of the lurch was enough to throw me forward in my seat. I feel very fortunate that the airbag didn't deploy and that i was able to move to the shoulder without incident. The loud clunk that the car made when this happened made me think i had hit a huge rock or something in the road. Beyond scary.i am the only owner of this car and it has been 100% maintained by the dealer.

I had the most harrowing experience while driving home last saturday, nov.27, around 1:15am, at constant speed of 60 mpg when suddenly while stepping on the accelerator pedal i felt slipping of the gears, then the car's acceleration quickly droppingas i frantically tried to regain control and barely managing to steer the car onto the shoulder where it stopped to move completely. I realized then that the car wouldn't move in any gear i shifted it to, which is indicates to me of a failure relating to transmission, if not a failure in the automatic transmission itself that caused this very dangerous incident to happen. I had to call aaa to have the car towed to my driveway where it still is as of this writing. I had no prior knowledge of any transmission problem with this car nor should suspect of such since i've been current with all scheduled maintenance services and kept it in good condition at all times. On nov. 24, three days prior to the incident, i brought the car to acura to make sure i had the 'power-steering hose recall' service done since days prior i've been hearing unusual grinding noise around steering wheel, amplified upon turning even slightly the steering wheel on either direction, usually when the car is started the first time. I thought the noise i hearing might be related to this 'recall' service. However, according to acura that service had been done on my car last february 2008, but it would cost me $110 for them to diagnose the problem for which i opted them not to since i didn't have the funds. I believe an incident such as i have experiencewherein a moving vehicle would suddenly lose power and become immobilized within matter of seconds poses a very serious 'safety risk' to our highways that should warrant prompt investigation and resolution to its cause to ensure responsibility of our continued safety.
Headed out in the afternoon, it was may 2016 weather was mild 70 degrees. I was sitting at a stop light after turning out of my neighborhood on a two lane road and put my foot on the accelerator and the car would not move. I had a line of cars behind me who couldn't go around until the other side was clear. No lights came on on the dashboard, the car just wouldn't go even though it was in drive. I turned the car off and restarted, it went a few feet and then stopped driving again. I pulled into a neighborhood and tried to see if the car would drive in reverse and it did. Obviously i could not drive back home in reverse. I waited about 10 minutes (i hadn't made it far from home), turned the car off, back on and drove back home. The car wouldn't go faster than 10 miles per hour and was struggling to go into gear. I had it towed to 3 different shops and all told me i needed a new transmission.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart, but the failure reccured. The contact stated that the vehicle would not shift into gear. The vehicle was towed back to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 129,000. The vin was not available.
My transmission went out without any warning while in motion. I was driving down interstate 64 and the engine light turned on, and the vehicle went into limp-mode drastically dropping from 55mph to 25mph. There were many vehicles behind me. I worked to pull out of the way safely. The code on the car was p0741. Crown acura richmond advised me that the transmission needed to be replaced.i have had my vehicle serviced by the dealer since purchasing it brand new on august 1, 2006. I've now spoken with several people, including a mechanic who reviewed the car to give me a second opinion. He recommended not replacing the transmission because there is a history of the transmissions failing without warning. It appears that there is a known defect and acura should have recalled this model. Although i was not in an accident or hurt, there was a very high potential for that to happen if i hadn't navigated quickly.
2006 acura tl.consumer writes in regards to transmission problems.the consumer stated she had to pay $1280 to have the transmission replaced. The problem has since returned.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. While driving 20 mph in second gear, the vehicle shook violently and the steering wheel vibrated and made a whining noise. In addition, the check engine, transmission, and power steering warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission and rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 181,000.
Transmission shifted erratically at 40 mph and was slipping at 50 mph until it went neutral on a busy road.stopped on the shoulder and waited for a few minutes.was able to get to my destination.later that day i drove back home only to have the same issues after 15 minutes but this time the transmission could not upshift properly and would go to neutral.stopped on the shoulder again and waited.re-started after a few minutes and the car would drive fine again but only for 3-4 minutes until the transmission went to neutral again.this went on for 2-3 more times until i stopped and just parked the car waiting for the tow truck to take back to a reputable repair shop.found out from the service dept that the transmission is shot and that i needed to replace it.i called the acura dealer and was informed that they could not do anything since it was past the warranty period even though i only had 68k miles on the odometer.the car has been maintained extremely well and cared for.i never had a problem with honda transmission on prior vehicles i drove (98 civic 100k+ miles and 98 accord 4 cycle 190k miles).
The transmission stopped operating. Appears an issue with the second gear, as per repair facility.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl.the contact stated that when driving uphill, the gears would start to spin and the transmission would slip and hesitate. The contact stated that the failure would mostly occur when the weather was hot. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic and the contact was told that the transmission needed to be replaced because the transmission was not strong enough for the v6 engine that was in the vehicle. The contact had the torque clutch solenoid replaced previously, but the transmission still failed. The failure mileage was 73,500 and the current mileage was 79500.updated 10/11/12*ljthe consumer stated transmission oil drips through the through the vent when the failure occurred. Bad transmission! car didn't move.
My transmission is starting to fail gears the rpm is going up and down rapidly.
My 2006 acura tl suddenly shut off while driving on a parkway. The dealer said a yellow sack spider web clogged the air conditioning drain tube which caused water to back up and spill onto the power train control module causing my acura to shut off. Very dangerous situation.
Car accelerates when gas pedal is not pushed down.i have been noticing that at time the transmission in my 06 acura tl has been shifting (car accelerates) for a second or two, after you have removed your foot from the gas pedal.the car sort of "jerks" forward.sometimes the "jerk" motion occurs when accelerating at low speeds.last night, on my way home from work i was on a road that slopes downward at around 30 degrees.i have had the problem where the car accelerated after i had taken my foot off the gas pedal.as a test, i didn't accelerate at all on this downward sloping road, and let the car coast.the transmission engaged anyway, and the car accelerated (sort of "jerked" forward) for a few seconds.it was very scary.something is wrong here, and this could cause an accident.i have already been on the phone with acura twice already about this transmission.they record the concern, but promise no action.i have gone to 2 different acura dealerships about this, and both state they are aware of the problem.
Driver seat heater is causing a burning smell when turned on.this could cause a fire while the car is being driven.the smell is likely due to a problem with the seat heating element.there is likely to be a short in the heating element wires.
I own a acura tl 2006 car, the driver side rear wheel's brake caliper has failed and it does not retract the break piston therefore the brakes always being applied. This is causing the wheels to be super heated and severe burning smell coming out of the car's rear area.having talked to the dealer, i was told this is a safety hazard but they will not fix it unless i pay $350.
Power steering hose oil leaking, accelerator pedal may bind, driver frontal air bag inflator may explode, 2001-11 multi-model airbag inflator recalls , pressure monitoring and regulating systems. Transmission oil is leaking all the oil in 4 days
Vsa modulator control unit on 2006 acura tl is leaking air into the brake system making the pedal soft which can lead to poor braking and cause accidents.i narrowly escaped an accident a few weeks ago.acura has known this issue for long time and has even published a technical service bulletin (07-041) but has not recalled the vehicle to replace this part.this has been an ongoing issue with a lot of honda and acura vehicles but there has been no enforcement.nhtsa should look into this issue and force honda/acura to recall these vehicles.
My transmission ran out in freeway and it almost killed me i need a recall
Early on i noticed that the brakes in my 2006 acura tl had a relatively soft feel in operation. Indeed, from the first day of ownership of the brand new car i'd been surprised at the difference from my previous car -- a 1995 nissan maxima -- which had solid feeling brakes. I attributed this softness to the new car's greater weight -- the brakes did after all, stop the car. But they never felt truly secure. In the last 2 years, the softness progressed slowly at first, and then worsening with an increasing rate of decline. At the start of july 2013, i was alarmed to find that i needed to pump the brakes for them to engage and stop the car. On 7/3/2013 the mechanic i saw found that air was in the lines, and that this apparently had let the right rear pads stay in contact with the disc requiring servicing of that portion of the system. He alerted me that a defective brake modulator problem was known to affect many tls of that time period. As it is an expensive part and not yet recalled, we opted to bleed the lines and fix the other damage hoping it would turn out that the line had simply leaked somehow. The drive away was the first & only time i've ever felt solid brakes on this car. But before i'd reached my home 10 miles away, they'd become spongy. By the next day i needed to pump them. Clearly, the modulator is introducing air to the lines. I essentially set the car aside while deciding whether i should replace it or fix it. I'm about to replace the modulator at my expense as i've decided i'm not prepared to buy a new car after all, but the brakes must be made safe. Acura has issued a bulletin, but they've not accepted responsibility for selling new cars with a defective part that completely fails, eventually. The problem they've imposed on the public is serious. Please don't wait for there to be a death before requiring a recall of thepart by acura. Thank you.
Abs kicked in when braking on an icy downhill.this is the first time abs has ever engaged on this car.after releasing the brake pedal, brakes became extremely soft and travel much farther towards to the floor before brakes engage.pumping them does not return brakes to normal operation.research uncovered a technical service bulletin (tsb) with honda/acura aware of this problem.acura service bulletin 07041.it appears this should be a recall given the danger this poses (loss of braking power).recommendation is to replace $900+ vsa modulator.ridiculous.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced complete brake failure with the abs and the automatic emergency brake warning lights illuminated. The contact had the vehicle serviced by two separate independent mechanics however, after each repair the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
2006 acura tl with 49000 miles.the brake pedal suddenly became very mushy and had to slam the brake pedal to the floor to stop the car. It did finally. Took it to a local automotive place and they insisted it just need a brake flush. Done...the brakes were still not up to standard but better.a week later the brake pedal did the same thing. Again afraid the brakes would not work as pedal on the floor started pumping brakes and coasted to a stop on the shoulder. Started stomping on the pedal and they seemed to gain pressure ,scared to drive it, but did and got it to an acura dealer. Abs repair - no warranty- $2100.00 bill to fix. This should have never gone out on a car with 49500 miles. When it does go out ...it is very dangerous.
2006 acura tl has had several problems from day of purchase.consumer wants the dealership to buy the car back because he feels that the car is a lemon. *njthe windshield wiper fluid stopped spraying. It was discovered that the hose was loose. The brakes starting squeaking and the dealer replaced them.
Dt*: the contact stated a slight rattle was heard from the rear tires of the vehicle after hitting a bump.the noise sounded like a muffler that was not clamped tightly to the body.the rattle was first heard on the left side, and then was heard from both sides.the vehicle was taken to the dealer on 06/28/06 but could not duplicate problem.the dealer adjusted the brake cable on 06/30/06 but the problem persisted.the dealer repacked the braking system on 07/03/06.the vehicle was taken to the dealer a fourth time on 08/03/06 where the whole braking system was redone, but the problem persisted.the noise only happened during bumpy road conditions.the manufacturer was contacted who determined the problem was not a safety issue.
2006 acura tl 6 spd. 36,667 miles.defective abs/vsa modulator leading to air in brake lines, spongy brake pedal with inconsistent unpredictable braking ability (dangerous conditions).
High pressure power steering fluid hose leaked, causing fluid to fall onto the exhaust system.as the engine temperature increased, smoke came out of the engine compartment and there was the odor of burning hydrocarbons in the passenger compartment.the hose assembly was replaced by an independent mechanic.
I have a 06 acura tl and for the last few months i have heard a very winding up and down noise under the hood, when i am turning one way or the other it gets louder . I noticed a recall on my vehicle but acura tells me no !i took it to a shops and they informed me that it's my power steering hose leaking/ could be bad .. I have had this car for 5 years and i take good care of my car , but lately all these problems are coming full circle. I find recalls and when i call them about it they said it's not my car but i see on the website that it is , but not my vin # !

2006 acura tl is difficult to steer during parking lot maneuvers, k turns and parallel parking.when the wheel needs to be turned quickly to opposite lock during a maneuver the wheel becomes very difficult to turn setting a potential for a wide turn and colliding with near by objects.dealer replaced steering rack, tires and states the steering pump is functioning as designed.dealer states that this is a normal condition for the acura tl.no accidents or incidents have occurred a potential problem, however, if a quick avoidance maneuver is required.
Recall incomplete
Since the day of the car purchased in 2006 the steering was very harder than other cars we used before and consulted with the dealer.i was told that acura tl is a sports car and the steering will be harder than other manufactures.this problem continued and a recall from the manufacture replaced power steering hose which was defective.i contacted dealer multiple times and was told that the nothing to worry; it is normal for this model.when the situation got really bad, i took it back to the dealer when the mileage was around 120000 miles, i was told that the power steering rack is leaking oil out the end seals and the proper correction is replacement of power steering rack and a possible damage to the pump due to low fluid level. The estimated cost was $1650.00.i had a very hard time for driving this car for many years and come up with$1700.00 to fix it.also the bushing were torn and popped through. According to service technician torn bushing was a design issue for 2004-2008 models and acura changed the body style later to correct the problem.in order to fix this wobbling/shaking problem the estimatedcost is $681.00. (due to defective body style).according the dealers and technicians i contacted, i was told that these problems are very seldom and they are due to manufacturing problems.as a customer i have to come up with around $2500.00 to fix a defective luxury car cost me more than $35,000.00 in 2006. What a shame.

The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise when the steering wheel was turned in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (maguire honda of ithaca, 315 elmira rd, ithaca, ny 14850, 607-273-1926) where it was initially diagnosed that the front axles were corroded. The front axles were replaced, but the failure continued. The dealer then repaired the carrier bearing, but it also failed to provide a permanent remedy. The contact notified the dealer several times that the multiple repairs failed to remedy the failure because the abnormal noise continued. The contact had a warranty, but the dealer had not verified if the vehicle could be repaired per the warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.
Power steering rack leaking inside into the boot. Dealer says, the rack has failed an needs to be replaced. Very unusual for a car with 70000 miles only to have the power steering rack leaking. I am not the only one. Hundreds of other consumers have reported the same complaint on acurazine forums for acura tl cars.http://acurazine.com/forums/third-generation-tl-2004-2008-93/this issue needs to be investigated thoroughly.
My car has very few miles for its age and i'm told by my mechanic that my rack and pinion steering needs replacing. After doing research ive found that this is a common problem in the generation of my car. I even found that there have been prior power steering issues that resulted in recalls for this car.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. While attempting to accelerate from a stop, the steering wheel detached from the steering column without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the steering wheel was re-attached. The technician was unable to explain the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000. The vin was not provided.

The passenger side front sub-frame failed.the metal had fatigue in the area where the compliance bushing is mounted.if this part failed completely, there would have been a loss of steering and control.part failure was discovered at honda dealership when the vehicle was being serviced for a replacement timing belt.

My car had a steering fluid leak in 09 during a family trip. I did not know of the leak but after hours that the car cooled down (after arriving at the final destination) and started it again that the steering made a lot of noise and was stiff. Acura customer service said that it would be covered under warranty. That was very odd since the 3 yr warranty had expired the previous year (08). She never said there was a recall. She told me to drive it to the nearest dealer, a 3 hr car drive in the opposite direction to my hometown. Customer service agreed that i would drive the car back to my hometown to a honda dealer where they would replace hose. After inspection technicians found that the pump was damaged as well as a result of the leak but acura didn't take responsibility because they said the warranty was for the hose not the pump. Later on after surfing the net i found in nhtsa there was a recall. Unfortunately some months after the hose was replaced at the honda dealer i had a 2nd steering fluid leak, minor this time. This happened after several days of continuous driving and arriving in canada during another long family trip. At acura west in ontario it was diagnosed a steering fluid leak. The honda dealer that had replaced the hose said that they were not responsible since the leak occurred months after it was replaced. I contacted honda and acura but they didn't want to take responsibility. I have sent 7 faxes to the president of honda japan but his representative says that would be handled by honda local representative. They never did. I called honda many times, sent many e-mails but they say they are not responsible. The result of their irresponsibility was a lot of hassle, two leaks, a damaged pump and they put in danger me and my family twice as the engine could have caught fire. None of this would have happened had they warned me, timely, of the recall updated 05/24/12 updated 05/25/12
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was leaking power steering fluid. The contact also stated that the air bag housing along the dashboard was cracked. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 133,950.
Dashboard crack at outlining of airbag. The crack is about 10-12inches long.
Cracked dashboard on both edges of the airbag.
Dash board started cracking about a month ago, a crack on the passenger side above the air bag, and now there are 2 to 3 cracks all along the dash board.i have owned this car for almost 3 1/2 years, and it has not been exposed to the elements for over an 8 hour period.i park this in a garage all the time.honda should pay for this, i have never had a dashboard crack, even on cheap cars.
Dashboard is cracking on passenger side where the airbag releases. Feel this may be a safety issue. In a matter of one week went from no visible crack to approximately four inches long and then to twelve inches long. Acura will not replace as vehicle is out of warranty.
About 3-6 months ago, i noticed a crack on the passenger side of my acura 2006 tl. Gradually the crack grew, then over time, i saw two more cracks in the areas where the airbags are located. Now these cracks are widening and i can see white in the cracks. My concern is that the manufacturer's defect will compromise proper deployment of the airbags in case of an accident. If so, this can have tragic consequences.i called the acura manufacturer customer service. They informed me that it will cost me $1500-2000 and that the adjustmentfrom them will be minimal because the warranty for such a thing has expired. I researched on the internet and discovered that this is a common problem for acuras.please, please investigate and help others like me who are highly disappointed, discouraged and angry about the poor quality of materials used in the area thatencases the airbags that should protect us from injury or death. For your information: my car has 92,000 miles and i have always taken good precautions to protect the dashboard with a windshield cover, used special conditioner and cracked my windows to keep the heat out. I also do proper and timely mechanical and electrical maintenance. I am the only driver and was hoping this would be my last car. Now, if i must sell my car,my car has depreciated substantially due to poor workmanship and i will have a car payment i don't need or can't afford. Do ru
Dashboard is cracking all over the place. This is not regular wear and tear but a design/manufacturing defect. I am concerned about safety of airbag.
At the beginning of this summer my dashboard randomly started cracking above my steering column. The crack has extended all the way to the windshield and split off in one direction. Also the passenger side has started to crack around the airbag. An expensive luxury car like should not have these types of issues. I love this car, but now every time i get in i cant help but feel that i am driving a piece of junk.
The leather dashboard on the passenger side has 2 vertical cracks about 8 inches long. This should be fixed as a manufactured defect.
There are long cracks in my dashboard around the passenger air bag.
Crack appeared on passenger side dashboard outlining airbag. I consider this a safety hazard and defect with acura tl.
Passenger side dash has multiple cracks around airbag.
Dash that covers front passenger air bag is cracking and i am concerned that it may lead to premature deployment of the air bag, or in the event of needed air bag deployment cause physical hard to the passenger.
On friday july 19th 2013 i noticed two small cracks (one about 3 inches and the other about 2 inches') on dashboard on both sides of where the passenger airbag is located. On monday july 22nd the crack had grown considerably larger 12 inches.i spoke with acura client relations on monday july 22nd to express my concerns. They opened up a case and told me that i needed to have the dealer inspect it. I took my car to the carlsbad dealer on tuesday july 23rd and had it inspected by one of the service managers. He glanced at it and abruptly stated i will need a new dash and that my car was out of warranty so i will have to pay $1500.later that day i spoke with client relations and was told 'we are sorry for your issue and acura will provide assistance with the cost. The work can be done for $800'believing that the part may be faulty makes me question why i have to pay anything. I am extremely disappointed that i was dismissed so quickly because my car is out of warranty. I understand that wear and tear happens but if there is a defect that the consumer has no control over why should they be held to a warranty period?a little searching of the web will provide quite a bit of evidence of the same issue over and over again. A large crack on the front dashboard above the airbag on passenger side.
Crack has opened up on the passenger side dash.
This is a car that was bought pre-owned within the last two years. The car was bought in pristine condition. Per acura's instructions, nothing is to be used to clean the dashboard except a microfiber cloth, which i have done.on oct. 06 2012, i got into the car and found a crack over the driver's side dashboard above the instrument cluster. Additional small cracks are starting to form over the passenger airbag. I am concerned that the cracks may cause problems in the case of airbag deployment.
Crack over the airbag on the dashboard of my 2006 acura tl is bout 5 to 8 inch long.
The passenger side front sub-frame failed.the metal had fatigue in the area where the compliance bushing is mounted.if this part failed completely, there would have been a loss of steering and control.part failure was discovered at honda dealership when the vehicle was being serviced for a replacement timing belt.
Two weeks ago i noticed a small (6") crack on the dashboard of my acura tl 2006. It is located on the right side on the passenger side. Today the crack is longer ( around 12") and it seems to be wider. There is also a small (4") crack on the perforated area above the steering wheel. Even thought this is a 2006 model, it has only 47k miles. I think that neither age nor high mileage are a factor here.i used to own a corolla ce and drove it for nearly 160k miles and such thing has never happened to it.i am shocked that this is happening with a car considered luxury. My understanding was that the quality of the products used to manufacture this vehicle was higher thus the price for the same. I have read similar complaints and concerns which leads me to believe this is a defective part. Please investigate this issue. Thank you.
I have bought a 2006 acura tl from pambroke pine dealers and after driving the car for a year i started noticing some cracks on the driver side dashboard. I don't understand how these things can happen to a car that is around 29k and it so called a luxury car. Before buying this car, i used to drive a 1995 toyota corolla which my dad bought it brand new the first time and it was always parked in the street with the sun hitting it full blast and nothing happened to it. Therefore, i would like to know why something like this would ever happen to a car that is so expansive. Furthermore, if this string like cracking continues, it might affect the air bags which is a huge safety issues which acura fails to see or they are just willing to make their money and don't care about their buyers.
My leather dashboard on the inside of my car has about 2 crack lines, my acura 2006 tl dashboard started cracking since last month. Those cracks are just above passenger airbags. Not only they look ugly but also it can be safety concern too and cracks are running just above passenger airbag.i have never seen or heard of this condition on any car, and would expect not to see it on such a high end vehicle like my acura tl. The dashboard should not be cracking at all. Acura says i need to pay $850 (in a deal ) to get this fixed instead of 1800, i don't think i should pay.
Thank you
About a foot long crack on the passenger side dash starting around the airbag. I use a sunshade to protect the dash from the sun. I have seen hundreds of other complaints on online forums also.
On or about april 2,2012 i noticed a crack in the dash on the passenger side near the airbag. 3 weeks later another crack on the drivers side dash. Went to acura dealership after reading all the complaints and they offered to pay 90%. Fast forward to the week of may 22-28 there is now cracks outlining the passenger airbag all the way around it. The sides are starting to curl up and now 3 more new cracks on the drivers side dash as well. This all started 2 months ago at which time i had absolutely no cracks at all. I take very good care of my car and i also use a custom made sun visor every single day. I feel with all these complaints that there has to be some sort of defect. I'm not happy having to pay 150.00 of my measly unemployment check to pay for this.
The dash suddenly had a crack in center area. The car has only 4 years.
Dashboard cracked overnight where the passenger airbag releases. In the sun it seems to close up. When the car is cooled, the crack opens up.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that the dashboard was developing large cracks. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. The technician diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failure several times.the approximate failure mileage was 102,000. After my acura hit 100,000 miles, 2 cracks developed in the driver side dashboard.the cracks are right over the airbag and i'm worried that the airbag will be affected and not work properly.
Two 12 inch vertical cracks down both sides of what appears to be the passenger air bag. Cracks are on dash board. I'm not sure how safe the airbag on that side is now with the cracks outlining the airbag location.
After 5 years of owning my 2006 acura tl, hairline cracks started showing up on passenger side dashboard. Within a week i have 3 big long cracks all along and above the air bag area of the passenger dashboard. Car is garage kept and there should be no reason why the dashboard is cracking up so bad. I am worried that this can affect the way the airbag functions in case of an accident. Unacceptable for a luxury vehicle with only 75,000 miles on it. Very disappointed.
The dashboard on my 2006 acura tl has developed long cracks right above the passenger side airbag storage. I'm concerned that these cracks may affect the development/effectiveness of the air back's deployment. Thank you.
Dashboards cracks ( huge) along passenger airbag which has never been used!
2006 acura tl was purchased new in the fall of 2005. On or about 8/13/2012 we noticed an 8-inch crack in the passenger side dashboard that ran the length (and beyond) of the right side of the passenger airbag. Two days later the crack had grown to 12-14 inches and another crack had formed on the left side of the airbag and curved around the bottom of the airbag (also 12-14 inches). I called the local acura dealership and they stated that we would need to bring the car in so they could take pictures and submit a report and we might be able to get a 30% discount on repair (we would end up paying close to $2000). I expressed concern that the piece would fly off when the airbag deploys causing serious injuries or that the cracks would cause the airbag to deploy on its own. The dealership stated that there was no evidence so far that it could cause injuries, but if the piece did fly off that "it won't cause too much damage or injury." very disappointed that this possible safety issue is not being addressed or remedied by acura.
A five inch crack was seen in the morning upon entrance into the vehicle. Over time the crack has extended to an approximate ten to twelve inch crack which corresponds with the vehicle's passenger side air bag location. The crack appears less visible when the vehicle's interior is hot and becomes more visible when the interior of the vehicle cools. I am concerned about the appearance of the crack and the relation it may or may not have with the air bag.
Cracks have developed in the dashboard.approximately 10 inches along one side of passenger side air bag. I am concerned this will affect the air bag. Also cracks on driver side dash.
Cracks starting appearing in the dashboard on the passenger side where the airbags deploy. This is not only an unwelcome sight for a premium car but wonder about the effectiveness of the airbags. This is an obvious defect.
2006 acura tl; dashboard began cracking along the edge of the passenger airbag, within a day the crack grew substantially, this is very disappointing and concerning due to its location on the airbag perhaps if it cracks all the way the airbag could potentially deploy.
Dash board has cracks every where looks horrible .... Not happy with this car
This model and year has numerous of complaints about the front dashboard cracking at an early stage. Also the valve cover gaskets leaks prematurely. And finally the transmission began slipping out of gear which i had to have it rebuilt. Please address these issues.
Dash board cracking around airbag. Concerned about premature airbag deployment, injury during deployment of dash board plastic or no deployment at all during a accident
Initially, during the warranty period, in june 2009, portion of the dashboard above the passenger side airbag faded from black to a light gray indicating some sort of decomposition. The dealer dyed the plastic black again. Last year, a long crack appearred in the dashboard in the same area running from front to back. This summer a long second crack s appeared possibly outlining the contour of the passenger airbag compartment. This week, a third crack has started in the center of the dashboard. A quick search on the internet reveals that this is a common problem for owners of third generation acura tl vehicles and may represent a material or quality issue. It is also possible that increased brittlenebritr loss of integrity of the dashboard may adversely affect the performance of the passenger airbag allowingmaterial to be ejected when the airbag deploys.i have used dash "shades" to protect the dash from sun exposure over the years and have never had a prior vehicle's dashboard deteriorate in this manner. This could be similar to the problems occurring in toyota dashboards and their recall as this is in high temperature/humid environment. Acura does not recognize this a problem because many of the complaints out claims are out of warranty.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that the dashboard exhibited numerous fractures near the passenger's side air bag. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 104,000.
I need to file a complaint after purchasing my acura tl 2006 a few weeks later my dash board started to crack really bad contacted acura regarding this problem and all they responded was they could replace it for a cost.this is really disappointing due to reading similar complains online for the same thing happening to other owners this should diffinitely be a recall this is cracking where the air bag is.another complain if the car is left with out turning the ignition on for more then a day the car will not start i then need to jump start it to have it run again every week i've also read this is happening to other acura owners as well this is an electrical problem which is very inconvenient for me and other acura car owners there should be a recall to fix this issue as well.please help me and other acura owners with this constant problem and making acura accountable for bad manufacturing.
Several large cracks have developed on the front dash board. This include the areas in and around the part of the dash that cover the passenger side air bag. I have used no type of cleaner that would have caused this issue and have not been involved in any serious crashes. A search online shows a large number of vehicles of this make and model with similar issues.
Acura will not help me with dashboard. They want to charge me $3000 for a new dash. This car has never been outside , always garage kept by me and one other owner! cracking all over dash is goin to cause the air bag to hurt someone if deployed! no dash cracks all over thats kept inside. This is happening to every acura tl 04-08 model! repetitively ! the car has never been in any coastal area or salt or sand or heat at all! iv owned many cars higher in millage that were kept outside only and never had cracking dash problem! iv seen older cars that were extremely old in age and kept in heat that had minor cracks but nothing like this especially on newer vehicles kept no where but inside the whole time since car came off production line!acura acknowldged the problem but no help was offered they said i would have to pay around #3000 to have a new dash installed. This is clearly poorly made material by acura probably fake carbon fiber or cheap plastic. But they advertise their vehicles as "world class, luxury, etc their ads go on and on about quality!" no other vehicle in this class has this problem and only this generation tl made by acura 04-08! please make them do something and be responsible and fair! this is not from sun or heat! they basically lie to sell vehicles! this is called samingor coning. Tey should be held responsible instead of just allowed to tell customers pay us $3000.00 and they get away with that!see this link ! -https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/my-cracked-dashboard-ordeal-730775/[xxx]redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)*cc
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that there were large cracks near the passenger side dashboard where the air bags were located. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,900.
Cracks around the passenger side airbags which is really dangerous to see assuming it to be deployed anytime soon resulting damage to the vehicle and injuring the passenger for no reason.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that the hood failed due to defective struts the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure and current mileage was 32,000.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that he noticed a crack on the dashboard where the front passenger side air bag was located. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated the dashboard would have to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that there was a crack in the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to a dealer or for inspection but no diagnosis was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. While driving approximately 10 mph, the contact noticed a clunking sound coming from the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician stated that the front suspension lower ball joints would have to be replaced. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 11e022000 (suspension:front:control arm:lower ball joint) but the contact was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
The passenger side front sub-frame failed.the metal had fatigue in the area where the compliance bushing is mounted.if this part failed completely, there would have been a loss of steering and control.part failure was discovered at honda dealership when the vehicle was being serviced for a replacement timing belt.
2006 acura tla vibration occurs primarily between the speeds of 48-58 mph.the vibration is felt in the floor, seat, and steering wheel.it is most noticeable when the car is cold (after about 3-4 hours after running).it seems to go away after the car warms up.it does not appear to be tire related.i have talked to a number of tl owners and they have the same problem.acura states it is a characteristic of the car and is within specifications.however, acura has not provided what the specifications are, how they are measured, and what my measurements are.the dealer sales manager stated to me that "yeah, acura has a problem there".i did not notice it right away after i bought the car thinking i was on a bad road or the tire was out of balance.it is not at all speeds and not at all times.it is an irritating vibration.i asked the dealer to fix it or buy the car back but they have done nothing to correct the problem stating it is characteristic of the car.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front passenger side wheel and the vehicle started to veer to the left. The contact discovered that the lower control arm was fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and confirmed that the passenger side lower control arm was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
At around 8,000 miles, i hit a curb hard enough to bend the wheel of my 2006 acura.the dealership replaced the wheel and sent me on my way.3 months and 3,000 miles later, the wheel came off the axel.fortunately i was going around 5 miles per hour headed to a stop sign when it happened, otherwise, it could have been a fatal incident.the bolt that caused the problem was completely severed.there are marks across it that show the wear on the bolt over the 3,000 miles.the dealer indicated that hitting the curb has caused the bolt to be damaged and that they had seen it in one other acura that had a similar situation.i have a serious concern that either there is a design problemor the metal used to make the bolt is substandard.had i been on the interstate, the result would have been very different.
With no prior warning, no indications of any problems and at speed 2006 acura tl with 43k miles experienced lower control arm failure, right front.the failure caused wheel to become disconnected which broke axle and brake line.with no ability to steer, the vehicle crashed into the concrete, center barrier.air bags deployed and auto ground against concrete to come to a stop.acura indicates that this will not be covered by warranty as it is caused by a severe impact.the failure was caused by a 2" change in elevation of the pavement.
Dashboard cracked around front passenger airbag for no reason when i was in parking lot, this is a safety issue when i have my kids with me in the car, the airbag might not work properly because dashboard not protecting it accordingly, my car is always in the garage and very well taking car of, this is a luxury car and expensive, acura should be 100% responsible in replacing dashboard to avoid possible airbag malfunction.i hope you guys really consider this claim because its happening everywhere with so many acura tl owners.
2006 acura tl dashboard cracked on the passenger side approximately 12-18 inches along the right side of the airbag to the windshield. These cracks are a safety concern to me as i believe in the case of an accident the airbag will deploy through the weakest link, i am concerned that this could reduce the resistance of the airbag when it deploys, therefore increasing the force with which it deploys into the passenger compartment. I paid for a car that i could trust and a company that i had faith in. This should be repaired as a manufacturer defect. The dealer wants $2000 to replace dash.
The dash board of my acura cracked along the passenger side air bag for no apparent reason. This seem to be a common problem based on opinions from other acura owners
Passenger side dash left edge of airbag is cracked from the front to the windshield. Hundreds of complaints with this problem, acura refuses to do anything. Do not want parts of dash to injure someone if in an accident and airbag goes off as the crack goes below the airbag towards the passengers.
Without any accident or internal abuse, a large crack appeared on the passenger side dashboard from the windshield to right above the glove compartment.the crack runs along the right side of the passenger side air bag and is deep; you can clearly see the air bag below it.acura has refused to replace it without charging over $2k and "claims" it's not a safety issue with air bag deployment, however i refuse to take a chance in having a passenger ride in the front seat.
The bluetooth had to be disconnected in order for the car to work it kept knocking out my battery and wouldnt crank
Our gps/ navi system needs replaced
The dash on the passenger side in the area of the air bag is splitting in 2 areas. I observed this when the vehicle was parked overnight.
2006 acura tl with dashboard cracking around the passenger airbag.have seen thousands of examples online of people with the same issue but acura refuses to address or admit to it.cnn even reported it, again no response from acura.concerned about proper deployment of airbag (or deployment at all), especially considering that the model years that are having the issues are the third generation tl (model years 2004-2008) and all tl in the surrounding years (1999-2003 and 2009-present) are a part of the takatarecall.acura has stated that replacement cost is $2000 - considering its an obvious manufacture defect and possibly a safety issue, one would think they would step up to the plate and admit fault.this is my third acura vehicle owned.
2006 acura tl dashboard cracked on the passenger side from the glove box along both sides of the airbag to the windshield, with adjacent cracks. My vehicle, has 52k miles (we usually use our prius,) was purchased new, and garaged, with a window vented. These cracks are a safety concern to me as i believe in the case of an accident the airbag will deploy through the weakest link, i.e., the airbag will attempt to find its way through the crack instead of where it normally goes! i paid for a car that i could trust and a company that i had faith in.
Dashboard is cracking all over the place to the point that the airbag is now visible on the driver side.
I purchased my 2006 acura tl brand new in october 2005. I have read a lot of complaints regarding the crack in the dash above the passenger airbag. As other owners have stated in their complaints, this is a serious safety issue. I am concerned about what will happen if the airbag deploys upon impact or if the airbag willdeploy prematurely. Please take this defect serious and demand a recall on this issue.
Dash cracking around passenger airbag as reported by countless others on social media and youtube. My concern is the flying debris from the faulty dash should the air bag ever deploy which can injure, kill or blind the occupant
Dash board has cracks every where looks horrible .... Not happy with this car
My transmission went out on the eway
Over the last couple of months, a crack has developed on the dashboard. The crack continues to grow larger in size.the crack is running right along where the passenger side airbag is located in the dashboard. I am concerned that this is compromising the the ability of the airbag to not spontaneously deploy. I am nervous to allow anyone ride in my passenger seat. This car is garage kept - it does not sit in the sun.
Early cracks on dashboard on the same side as the airbag
The dashboard has a crack in it on the passenger side about where the airbag is located and the scoring is for the airbag deployment.the car is in excellent shape.has spent most of it's life in a garage.only has 85,000 miles on it and is detailed twice a year.there is no excuse for this.i am concerned that besides being a horrible cosmetic defect that it actually creates a safety issue for the proper deployment of the the passenger-side airbag.a simple search online will show you that this is not an isolated incident and must be a defect that acura should repair or replace.
Thank you.
Went to turn on windshield wipers and they won't wipe neitherwill the fluid. Tried with the vehicle parked and in motion
Cracked dash board
2006 acura tl no longer fit to be driven because of the manufacturer's defective heating and cooling system breeding toxic mold and the procedures done to the car trying to repair it. *dtthe consumer stated the dealer sprayed some chemicals in the vehicles to try and mask the problem.
My acura tl 2006 dashboard started cracking approximately 18 months ago (june 2016). I had used armor all consistently yet the dashboard continued to crack and today, i see the crack behind the central dashboard speaker continue t grow. The second photo i have attached shows the significant cracking on the passenger side of the dashboard, and coincidentally, around the area where the airbag is.i would like this dashboard replaced to original condition (without cracks), and i am very concerned that these cracks have negatively impacted the safety of the airbags safety system.
My dash is cracking at a accelerated rate. First at the passenger airbag, now over driver side. My concern is if the dash is dry enough to split along the airbag seams, then what would prevent shards of dash flying off if the airbag deploys? the should get some serious safety considerations.
Dash is cracked on the passenger side - approximately 12" in length (vertical) over air bag
Design flaw in dash causescracks common problem with acuradealership will not goodwill or fix a known problem.
This vehicle was bought brand new in september 2006, in the past two weeks the dashboard has started cracking open where the passenger side airbag would deploy. The cracks have been getting progressively worse and the dealership is saying i may or may not receive assistance for the repairs which cost approximately $2,400. This is completely unacceptable for a 5 year old vehicle and they seem to want to blame it on the hot florida temperatures even though i have owned approximately 7 other honda/acura products in florida and never had this issue before.
My transmission ran out in freeway and it almost killed me i need a recall
Crack in dash board over the passenger side airbag. I feel this is an extreme safety issue in that the airbagmay deploy without impact. This should be repaired as a manufacturer defect. The dealer wants $2000 to replace dash.
Customer states that she has changed her address and wants any safety defects to come to her new address**cc
Since leasing car in april 2006 there have been 10 incidents of sudden acceleration. Concluding in an accident 9-20-2006. Company inspected the car for one half hour on september 27 and couldn't find the cause.
I was driving on a city street when i was coming to get ready to stop i started to break, at that time my brake system felt like i was slipping on black ice you could say . But the road was dry ! my vehicle wouldn't stop normal i somehow by the grace of god got it pulled to the side of the street ! my abs and vsa and the triangle with ( ! ) witch is orange also all came on . I shut my car off ! and had it towed home .. I have had people look and show me behind my two front tires that the speed sensors are on both sides deterrated and the bolts are missing that connect everything in place . I have looked up and seen recalls on this same situation i am now going threw !
I call my new home's nearest dealership (libertyville il ) to ask about any recalls on my vin, and to additionally check about recalls on the app sensor.nothing. This, however, has been repeatedly reported to you by many people over the years, and today i am reporting it again.libertyville il certified acura dealership confirmed it was a sensor failure.in fact, when i spoke with [xxx] at the libertyville il location, i expressed my sincere feelings about the situation and how i could not understand how this is not a recall item.in his attempt to make me feel better he said, look, this is such a rare thing.in my 15+ years in this business, you're only the 4th case i have personally had.'instead of reassuring me, this infuriated me.one mechanic 'turned-service manager alone has had four of these death trap sensors?seriously, i have to ask, how many reported incidents does it take? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Bad transmission! car didn't move.
2006 acura tl (3.2l) accelerator pedal position(app) sensor had a intermittent failure causing a loss of power and acceleration during a left turn at a busy intersection. Confirmed by dealer by reading history of failure codes. Had to pull out of traffic and restart car. Acceleration returned but check engine light stayed on. This has only happened one time. Immediately took car to dealer where fault code was read and as the fault had cleared, i was told to continue to drive the car because there was a month wait for a new sensor due to a backlog of orders for this part.
On tuesday oct 13, i was driving my 2006 acura tl at 20 km/h and suddenly and unexpectedly the car accelerated on its own and the engine was roaring. I didn't understand what was happening but my immediate reaction was to press on the brake pedal. While the car slowed down a bit the acceleration continued and then i press onto the pedal very hard, the tires slipped to a complete halt, just a few inches from a very busy intersection where i was supposed to stop. While i hadn't still fully assessed full situation, i automatically switch the transmission to neutral and the engine was still roaring, madly. I turned it off and waited until i gain full consciousness of the situation; shifted transmission to parking. Some time later when i was already tranquil, i started the engine but the acceleration started, the engine again was roaring so i switched it off.i waited much longer and started the car again and this time it was ok. Since there is no acura dealer in my hometown, i was advised to take it to a honda dealer. The car spent the whole day but technicians couldn't find a problem. In another tighter situation (being closer to a busy intersection, or down a curve, etc) , or if my wife or kids had been driving the car, this case could've been much more dangerous, even fatal. Two acura dealers said they have never encounter such problems. I contacted honda but they didn't know of anything similar. In a quick internet search, i found many sites reporting this same problem. How many accidents should there be, or how many casualties before authorities do something about it ???my email address is [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My husband was driving the car and while in drive had his foot on the brake and the car revved up and lurched forward, he hit the brake hard to stop it.on october 5th i pulled into a parking space and applied the brake came to a stop and the car accelerated,i hit the brake hard and between the brake and hitting a curb came to a stop!on october 6th i was at a complete stop at a light facing uphill for at least a minute, the light was still red, traffic stoppedi had my foot on the brake and the next thing i knew i was being propelled into the car in front of me!the police officer looked at all of the damage, the traffic conditions, talked to the witnesses and encouraged me to look into mechanical failure because it did not make sense!the woman in front of me went by ambulance to the hospital for a neck injury and my car has approx 3,000+front end damage.
This is a complaint regarding the poor and hazardous design of rain-x latitude wiper blades connector piece. While driving in "normal duty conditions" light non-freezing rain (temp in the mid 50's fahrenheit) at normal city speeds the passenger wiper,a 19" rain-x latitude, properly installed, catastrophically failed causing the wiper blade portion of the part to become completely detached from the vehicles wiper arm with the plastic clip still attached to the vehicle's metal wiper arm. The blade was thrown from the vehicle into the roadway.this caused a sudden total loss of visibility. It is clear that there is a flaw with the integrity of this part as designed by rain-x that could cause a sudden and total loss of visibility in the event of a failure andcould cause dangerous debris to be mechanically thrown from a vehicle, endangering the safety of others.
Do ru
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl.while driving between 30-55 mph on normal road conditions, the rearview mirror became loose and exhibited a rattling noise and vibration.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and was repaired.the driver stated that there was a technical service bulletin for the rearview mirror.on two separate occasions, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for identical failures with no resolutions.the technician recommended that the rearview mirror be replaced at the cost of $230.the vehicle has not been repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was between 30,000-40,000 and current mileage was 73,000.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that the left and right front wheel rims were cracked; these were original wheel rims. The contact also noticed that the tires were losing air and becoming flat. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who replaced the wheel. The manufacturer had not been notified. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.. Updated 03/03/11updated 12/14/11
Our gps/ navi system needs replaced
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front passenger side wheel and the vehicle started to veer to the left. The contact discovered that the lower control arm was fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and confirmed that the passenger side lower control arm was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
The "check tpms" warning light keeps on coming on and off irregularly, and the tpms displays very wrong tire pressure measurement numbers. I checked the tires manually, and read their pressure all around 33 psi while the tpms displayed the right front tire pressure as 58 psi.
The contact owns a 2006 acura tl.the contact stated that the passenger rear rim was dented, cracked then replaced.the passenger front was dented and replaced. The manufacturer stated that they replace a lot of rims and the failure was a known occurrence.the current mileage was 29,000 and the failure mileage was 20,000.updated 10/30/07.
