We found the following complaints for ACURA TL (2004)

Read complaints for ACURA TL (2004)

While driving we heard a loud pop that sounded like a very large rock hit the windshield. While inspecting the windshield we noticed that the noise had come from the dashboard splitting. The area covering the passenger side airbag has split and the entire dash, withing just a few days, has split from the initial 4 inch split to about 8 inches. I am concerned that this could affect airbag deployment as the decreased resistance could mean the airbag deployment speed is greater. (worth noting: we purchased this car new and it has been garage kept its entire life. Also, when the car is in the sun i always use a sunshield.)

A small crack developed on the dashboard on left side of the passenger side airbag. Over time, the crack has grown and another crack has developed on the right side along the passenger side airbag. Both cracks are of equal length running from the top of the dashboard down past the airbag. Now there are more than 6 cracks on the entire dashboard and they are progressing in all directions everyday. Rapid progression of these cracks (specially the ones around the passenger side air bag area) makes me very uncomfortable driving around this car. If the dashboard is not replaced immediately, this air bag could deploy pre maturely and cause serious harm and/or injury and/or death of my family member. This definitely looks like a recall issue and acura/dealer needs to pay for the part to be fixed and/or replaced.

Wife made me aware that a crack appreared on the dash atter taking down the sun shade to come home after work.it was about a four inch crack on top of the left edge of where the air bag deploys. I was somewhat concerned because f the location.i rode on the car again this afternoon and not only has the original crack doubled in size there is another one on the opposite side of the air bag deployment.both cracks are on the edge of the air bag "box"now i am very concerned and i get only line to see how to either repair or replace this dash.after searching i see that there are alot of complaints with this same issue.it seems acura has a problem with the material used to cover the dash.they need to step up and replace these dash boards.

There was no accident or incident. I have complained about this to you over a year ago and nothing was ever resolved! our dash is cracking only where both air bags are on both the driver and passenger dash! this was not cased by anything but the manufacture. We really would like to see a recall on this.we have a 03 and 04 acura tl. The 03 has a recall on the air bags and it doesn't even show any signs of damage.the 04 needs a recall before our airbags come out on us driving down the road, then we will sueacura! i have pictures if you need them!

As with other posts, cracks in the dashboard around the perimeter of the passenger airbag are pronounced and getting worse over time.very concerned for the safety of passengers in an otherwise reliable vehicle which has many more years (and miles) of useful service.

First, i noticed the light indicating the front passenger airbag was off, even though my adult male friend was in the front passenger seat. Later that day, i noticed a crack, approximately 2 inches long. Two days later, the crack was approximately 6 inches long, and ran along the entire right edge of the passenger airbag compartment. Since the first time i noticed the airbag light, it has been inconsistently responding to the same adult male passenger by activating/deactivating the airbag.

I noticed a couple of cracks on my dash. Since i noticed them there had become additional cracks. After doing research i discovered this is a very common problem for this make and model and the cracks occur in the same spots. The biggest concern if the crack over the passenger side airbag.

The passenger side air bag light on the acura stays on due to the fact that the dash is cracking so bad around the air bag that it appears the air bag could very easily pop through the dash.i contacted acura as soon as i saw the cracks but of course they claim its not defective just usual wear and tare!! but through research i have found that there are many acura owners complaining of this issue but acura won't do anything about this! so does someone have to die due to a malfunctioning passenger side air bag because of their defective dash issues.this isn't a new issue for acura owners however, us owners cannot find a way to be heard and get acura to fix this issue. You tell me if its safe to see a dash that will swell up in the heat of summer and close the gaps in the cracks on a dash and then seem them very openly gapped open in the winter due to the cold.still waiting for the worse to happen so acura owners can get justice for this defect in a $50,000 car!!!!

Dashboard has cracked directly over the passenger side airbag. Car is stored in a garage daily and out of excessive heat/cold year round.steering wheel cover over the driver's side airbag also has cracked.both cracks show visible outline of the airbags.addressed the steering wheel crack with the fairfield, ca dealership where car was purchased and was told that i needed to have the airbag replaced at a cost of $1,500 dollars.the issue was part of the airbag housing.if that's the case, wouldn't this be a safety issue and not cosmetic? especially because both cracks are directly over the airbags?

I have a long 5 inch crack on my dashboard that covers the airbag. It appeared out of no where and that is a well known issue that acura is aware of but doesn't recall. It will get worse and im afraid it will affect the ability of the airbag deploying properly.

My dashboard started to crack, very little to start but now has 6 major cracks running up and down the entire dash board with the cracks going complexly around the air bags.

Airbag light sensor on dashboard always.

The dash started to crack around the passenger airbag and has continued to get worse over the years. The entire dash is cracked at this point.this is a know acura issue that they refuse to address in mass but have assisted many owners in varying degrees.

I was parked in an automatic carwash when my driver side airbag started dripping water on me. I'm afraid this could cause my airbag to deploy. I've also experienced crazy electrical issues intermittently that are not safe and i wonder if this is related. I also have a video if that is needed.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While the vehicle was parked, the dashboard cracked near the passenger side and exposed the air bag. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 184,000.

Extensive cracking of dashboard cover, including near passenger side airbag which may cause dashboard pieces to becomemissiles in the event of deployment of this airbag. Acura has of this date not issued a recall or in any way that i know of accepted responsibility for this product issue.

Cracks developed on dash board.small at first but have grown over the past 2 years.i thought it was just a cosmetic problem but have read recently that this could be a safety issue with the airbags not deploying. Acura refuses to fix or remedy the problem even though i have provided appropriate care and maintenance over the years.

My 2004 acura tl has a crack in the dashboard on the passenger side.i have owned the vehicle since 2007 and take very good care of it.i couldn't believe how many other acura owners have this same problem.how could it be "coincidental"...sounds like a defect that acura is ignoring.am concerned about the safety of the airbag.

04 acura tl 73000 miles has cracks around the passenger airbag. Cracks have since spread over the entire dash. The srs light stays on all the time since the cracks started.

A crack has appeared on the dashboard over top of the passenger airbag.worried about passenger safety and airbag effectiveness in the event of an accident.

The dashboard in my 2004 acura tl is cracked on the passenger side along the airbag. Started out just acrack about 1/4" and two days later the crack is over 8 inches.also the dashboard on the driver's side cracked first from just in front of the steering column all the way to the windshield and is now a complete square from steering column to windshield and back to steering column.if this isn't a safety issue, i don't know what is!we own two other hondas,2001 and 2000 civics, and neither of those cars have cracks and are in better shape than the acura tl.

Air bag light sensor is on and all the dash is cracked and we are afraid the air bag will not deploy in a accident or randomly will deploy without a accident.

Dashboard is cracking on its own, not due to normal wear and tear.cracks are over the passenger side airbag and other parts of dashboard.

Cracks have appeared in the dashboard especially around the passenger side airbag.the airbag light has been on since the first crack appeared.dealer says to trade in the car and buy a new one!why doesn't acura own this issue and fix this systemic problem that owners are reporting?this is potentially a huge safety issue as i am concerned that the air bag may deploy unexpectedly.

The passenger side dashboard started with a hairline crack and gradually grew larger and cracks formed in many other areas on my dashboard. This ultimately affected my airbag causing the light to on my console to turn on when a passenger is seated. The passenger airbag indicator light on my driver console represents there is a problem with that airbag and will not deploy upon impact. This is extremely dangerous.

Air bag light is on and air bag is deactivated due to defective switch in seat belt buckle.manufacturer has lifetime seat belt warranty but will not honor the warranty because they claim that the switch is part of the air bag system and not part of the seat belt.so my wife and daughter has to drive a car with no air bags because honda/acura will not honor their warranty.should be a recall on this, as it is a common problem.

The dashboard is starting to crack over the passenger airbag and i am very scared that it will deploy without warning injuring my passenger.

I have noticed a large crack in my passenger-side front dash board.there is an outline of a rectangle over the airbag and there is one crack that has actually opened the dash board.i am scared this crack is going to cause the airbag to deploy at anytime or maybe cause it not to deploy when needed.i am also scared that parts of the dashboard will fly off if the airbag is deployed, due to this crack.

Cracks appeared on the dashboard. This lead to airbag signal appear.

In the last 10 days, the srs dash light came on without a known incident. Researching online acura information, many areas refers to cracking of the dashboard as a possible reason for the srs light to stay on. Upon investigation, there is a 15 inch crack on the passenger side, going down the right side of the airbag placement. Reports say cracks will continue, acura knows of the issue however will not recall or correct the issue. For the numerous reported issues of cracking dashboards, acura should take the corrective action needed. This has been my best purchase to date and have unquestionable faith in the car. With the multitude of complaints about this same issue, how can it be ignored?before this, i would not consider purchasing anything other than another acura however a $36k vehicle should not have a known repetitive issue thru several years of models. I called acura client relations in the us ((800) 382-2238) and had them open a case number for my issue. Not sure if it will do anything however it can not hurt. Only 43k on the car, immaculate 2004. Normally stored during the winter.

My 2004 acura tl had developed a major crack on passenger side of dashboard along the passenger air bag. I have found that this is a common problem on acura tl's, and is not being addressed as a recall or safety concern by acura/honda. The cost of repair is huge and i don't think customer should pay for the material defect by the manufacturer. The crack is right along the passenger air bag and this is a safety concern for me.

My 2004 acura tl has a defective dashboard. I've seen cracking in my dashboard that was disguised in the instrument panel since 2007.it originally looked like the crack was part of the design above the instrument panel. In the past three years, the cracking has spread all over the dashboard to the passenger side comprimising the integrity of the airbag deployment feature in my vehicle. I have received nothing from acura corporate for an obvious dashboard design flaw for 2004-2006 acura tl models. Acura corporate says that cracked dash is a result of wear and tear. My concern is the safety of the airbag during normal deployment and whether or not it will protect my family in the event of an impending accident.

My dashboard has developed several cracks. I feel that is unsafe since it has a crack on the passenger side over the air bag. Acura needs to do something about it . Cause it's several acura tl with the same problem not just mine.i'm a very upset owner. A great engine but low quality interior since my seats have also torn.

12-15" cracks have developed over the entire dashboard causing the air bag malfunction light on the dash to illuminate--thereby indicating a problem with the air bag.this is clearly due to the problematic cracks over the entire surface of the dashboard, including both the driver side and passenger side.going over a pot hole or severe bump could cause the air bag to inflate and possibly cause an accident or injury to the front passenger.the 2004 acura dashboard obviously is defective and should be replaced by acura and further, investigated for potential accidental discharge of the passenger air bag.

My dashboard has a crack around the driver's side airbag.the car has never been hit or wrecked.this crack just appeared and the check airbag indicator is on.i've been reading on the internet that many many other owners of this car are having the same problem.i'm afraid the airbag will deploy without cause.please check into this and let me know if there is a cause for a recall on this car.thanks.

My 04 tl has pretty much had nothing but tlc since i bought it in 2010 with 42000miles now in 2015 i'm at 87000miles and i get the cracked dash... I read about this when i bought the car and i was hoping i was going to be lucky but i guess not. Ma 10/5this is obviously an acura screw up...updated 11/08/2017

There are extremely deep cracks that have developed on the dashboard.currently, you can see the outline of the housing for the airbag on the passenger side of the dashboard. When it's quiet, i can sometimes hear noise from where the front airbag is located. Very scary. I am hesitant for anyone to sit in the passenger seat and avoid it if at all possible.my car has always been garaged until recently - both at home and during the day at a commercial garage. The cracks developed even though the car was garaged when not driven. Disappointing that acura refuses to address this widespread safety hazard.

The dash just always had a line in it. It looked as if it is where the airbag is. And now it just started to crack.i'm just not sure if it is a safety hazard or not and if the airbag will still work.

My 2004 acura tl has a few large cracks on tha dash/instrument panel. I am the second owner that has been garage kept and very well maintained. I do not understand that a luxury car would have such a defect that may produce serious injuries on our children or spouses. Acurazine.com, facebook, twitter and a georgia news reporter has hundreds of complaints and picturs of this deect and have been told that it is not a problem by dealships. Please make a recall for this defective dash!!!!

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact noticed that the dashboard around the air bag area was cracked. The air bags and wiring were not exposed. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

Airbag indicator light on instrument panel illuminates periodically. Dashboard has developed two significant cracks directly over the front passenger airbag. I am concerned that the combination of the airbag indicator light and dashboard cracks indicate a safety issue. If the airbag were to deploy, it may not do so appropriately. The cracks could cause it to deploy in wrong direction, rendering it ineffective or dangerous. Also, pieces of dashboard could break off in event of airbag deployment and result in projectiles that could injure occupants.

Top of my dash where the glovebox is all crack where the the takata inflators our

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the passenger side dashboard began to deteriorate around the air bag. In addition, the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

We purchased this car new in 2004!this car has never had a airbag recall.i'm very concerned this year, make and model was overlooked concerningthe airbag recall. Every singlemodel and year around this 2004 acura tl was recalled for the airbag replacement. We constantly check for updates to assure we do not miss a notice. Is there anything that can be done to assure our 2004 tl airbag is safe?

Rear ended a vehicle going 50mph, driver airbag did not deploy. Passenger airbag deployed

My 2004 acura tl started to have minor cracks on the dashboard last november and then it slowly spread all over the dashboard. I now have multiple long cracks on my dashboard. I have done some research online and there are many acura tl (2004 & 2005 model) owners who has encountered the same issue as well. I have other vehicles that are older than the acura tl and those vehicles dashboards are completely fine.i believe it is a defect in the material and acura should be responsible for replacing this part. I do not feel safe driving my care in this manner due to the fact that it might impact the air bags or may not deploy the air bags in case of emergency. So, please help all of us acura tl owners with this issue. Thank you

Major cracks around passenger side airbag on 2004 acura tl. Apparently thousands of other tl owners are experiencing this defect. The cracks appear to affect the airbag functionality. Quotes in terms of replacement are around $1800. However, this is happening not due to owner error or fault, but rather to all acuras, garage stored and otherwise.

Simply driving down the highway when the passenger seat side airbag deployed. Car has not been in an accident and did not hit a pothole. Research online finds this to be a common problem, but acura does not appear to be concerned. Airbag explosion alone was loud enough to almost cause an accident due to the scare.

Purchased 2004 acura tl in late august 2014.initially thought the markings on the passenger side of the dashboard were as designed due to the uniform appearance.turns out, there are multiple cracks in the dash going in different directions.cracks are at least 10 inches and there are several.i am very concerned about the airbag deploying.this is our third acura and we have never seen this before.looking at this board, i see multiple complaints regarding tl dashboard cracking.hope acura will evaluate this issue and determine whether or not there is any danger to front seat passengers.

I recently discovered a huge gash on my 04 acura tl's dashboard. I am worried that this crack will cause an airbag failure or even result in deploying prematurely. It is located all the way from the steering wheel to the windshield with an additional crack towards the middle. As the crack has expanded within the past week, i have found that just above the center console, the airbag has been pushed to the side, causing the airbag to bubble up in the center.i called acura and was told that they give discounts on the product because it should never happen and because it wasn't my fault, just a faulty product that has been discovered in several other states. I talked to the district manager of gunn acura in sa,tx about the issue and was told that since i haven't used acura's service department as much as they like (pretty much saying that i haven't given them enough money), they would give me only a 15% discount when i was told to expect around 75%. My car is out of warranty but i don't see how that would matter if it was bound to happen anyway. I don't understand why this defect isn't a recall. The district manager told me that if anything, the airbag would come out faster if needed since there is already a crack to open it up. But that might not be a good thing, especially when it is pushed out of the way and how the airbag doesn't come out of the dashboard.when i spoke to the district manager, the first thing i was told was that the offer is staying the same, no matter what. He checked his notes and decided a price before even consulting me or asking questions. He was set on a rate before he even spoke with me. The price hasn't changed and i am expected to pay for a $2000 dashboard with a 15% discount. My main concern is that the airbag will deploy any day now for no reason. It is getting to the point where i am actually scared to drive my car because of this issue.

Cracks in the passenger side dashboard began overnight that outlined the passenger airbag. Car is garaged and kept in parking garage at work. Discoloration of the dash began at 40,000 miles only involving this same part. I used meguires dashboard protector at the advice of the acura dealership since 40,000 miles but that didn't seem to stop the process. Dash part appears defective but acura does not appear interested in recalling.

In the month of august of 2011, my 2004 acura tl started a minor 2 inch long crack on the passenger's side near the frontal airbag deployment area.the following day the crack expanded to over 6inches.during the next few months the crack multiplied into several cracks along the entire dashboard.at the time of the dashboard cracking, the airbag warning light illuminated on the dashboard.my local mechanic ran diagnostics and nothing came back that was out-of-the-ordinary.i believe the dashboard is an ingredient in the airbag light because the airbags are internally located within the dashboard.acura has admitted their fault in the improper materials used in the 3rd generation acura tls (2004-2008), but decline to replace the dashboards out of good will.

Takada recalli am hoping you can find out information for 2004 tl owners.honda and acura's for the years 2001-03 and 05 and beyond have been included in the takata recall.i find it hard to believe that 04 acura tls have airbags sourced from a company other than takata. And i have been unable to find any reliable information out from acura or honda. I would like to understand why the 04 acura tls are not listed in the recall, yet acura and honda cars in theyears before and after 04 are.i even contacted the dealership about having a proactive air bag replacement even though the 04 acura tl is currently not part of the recall. I was told they could replace the airbag, but that the replacement would be the same airbag that the car was manufactured with.i would like additional information to be provided why acura/honda is convinced that the 2004 acura tls do not need to be included in the recall. Any help the government can provide would be appreciated.thanks.

I purchased my 2004 acura tl in october of 2008. Recently, i've noticed the dashboard cracking. After bringing it to the attention of the dealership, they told me it was not covered under my warranty. As i search for information online, it seems to be a common problem with other 2004 models. I have asked if the air bags are safe and the person at the dealership gave me a chuckle and said "...of course".

I noticed a large crack on my dashboard in front of the passenger seat and it appears to outline the airbag.there are two small cracks on the dash as well.my concern is whether or not these cracks make the deployment of my airbags defective in the event of a collision.

The dash board has cracked in multiple places over the passenger air bag.if the air bag was to deploy in an accident it would shoot sharp edged pieces of plastic at the passengers resulting in injury or death.it is happening to every 2004-2008 acura tl.something needs to be done.some acura dealers are covering some of the cost but it should be a recall for consumers safety.my wife will not ride in the car and will not allow our children as well.so i have a $50,000 luxury sedan that is useless.please help us acura owners.thank you

The passenger dashboard developed significant cracks overnight. Looks like where airbag would deploy. At same time check airbag light came on.

Airbags are about to blow thru the dash. The airbag light stays on most of the time and the dash is cracking really bad around the dash. The crack started just around the airbag cracking the perfect shape of the airbag. Now it is cracking all around the airbag. Seems as tho the airbags could come out at any time.

Dash separating around passenger side airbag.

Dash board driver to passenger side many large long cracks. Acura tl owners get no responsefrom acura motor company on this defect.

Dash/airbag issues.2004 acura tl 3.2 had a crack on the dashboard which the airbag is underneath, this is a safety concern if the airbags would be deployed correctly. More cracks appear several days later, the car is well pampered, but this is a defective material on honda/acura's part. Need to be recalled!

Turning into a lane in the town (in motion), a car ran a red light, t-boned the car driver side.totaled the car and shifted the entire car across the frame.steering wheel bag did not inflate.if it did it would have helped my injuries.red lighted by a large 1/2 ton or more red truck at about 40-45 miles per hour.

My dashboard has two large cracks running the width of the dashboard, along where the airbags are supposed to deploy. No accident caused this defect.

My dashboard has developed cracks emanating from the spot where the airbag is intended to deploy. Not only are the cracks unsightly, but i am concerned that these cracks may impede with the proper function of the airbags.

Dashboard/passenger air bag cover has significant cracks. May affect performance when deployed.

The dash has developed a crack around the passenger side airbag. I am concerned that should an accident occur the airbag may not deploy correctly.

Major crack has developed on passenger side of dash board along the passenger air bag and air bag safety light is coming on and off sporadically on dash board. This is a huge safety concern for me. I have found that this is common problem on acura tl's, and is not being addressed as a recall or safety concern by acura/honda. The cost of repair is huge, and for a car costing as much as this one cost, it is completely unacceptable for such pre-mature failure.

From last 3-4 years the dashboard is getting cracks and the crack lines are overlapping air bags path. For last 2 months the air bag lights are on randomly.

The dashboard is cracking severely on the passenger side of the vehicle. The cracks are expanding rapidly, and it looks like an outline of the airbag compartment. I'm afraid that the airbag will deploy accidentally, and/or that the pieces of the dashboard will injure someone riding on the passenger side of the front seat during an airbag deployment. My wife is scared to ride in the car now.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the dashboard was cracked around the passenger side air bag. The contact also stated that when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle decelerated as the check engine warning light flashed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,000.

My dashboard is cracked all over the place. Acura will not fix it.

2004 acura tl dash has been cracking to pieces from the left and right side.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the front passenger air bag compartment was cracked and the air bag indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dch acura of temecula (951-428-2317, located at 26705 ynez rd, temecula, ca 92591) where the technician stated that nothing could be done except to cover that part of the dashboard. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was not provided. *dt

Dashboard has developed deep, long cracks in a square surrounding the passenger side air bag.manufacturer should recall this extremely common safety problem immediately.

I have a 2004 acura tl dash that has very large cracks over the passenger airbag and is cracked in 3 more places over the drivers steering column. This seems to be a very common problem that many 2004 acura owners are facing. Acura customer relations says to see the dealer for a resolution and from what i'm reading online it seems that the dealer wants no part in fixing or warranting this part. I will investigate this issue and report back to acura to see if they will cover this 2000 dollar part that should be recalled on that model year. Acura should do something about this. Accepting responsibility for this known issue would be a good place to start.

The dashboard started cracking and keeps getting long where the airbag is on passenger side.

I have a acura tl 2004 which thedash board has crack in top of the air bags, the deal saidthat the warranty does not cover that, and i have several friend that have a acura that have that same issue, so i well like to know if the deal is responsible for this . Which i have an extended warranty.thank'

As you can see, these aren't small hairline cracks, they are nasty a## long cracks all over. Each day the crack get worst and open. It dangerous because there is airbags under those dashboard.

The dashboard started cracking.now, it has cracks all over.passenger side and driver side.this may cause issue with the airbags.i looked on line and this is very common in 2004 tls.acura refuses to fix the issue.some have also experienced issues with their air bags due to the cracking.

There appears to be a defect with the air bag system. The warning light was intermittently illuminated, and it now remains lit nearly every time the vehicle is driven.i brought the car into the dealership (acura of stevens creek in california). They see the air bag system issue, but will not take a look at the car for less than $180. I unfortunately don't have $180 for just a look (this amount does not include the cost to fix the problem).the worst part is that this appears to be a known problem under warranty, but they refuse the look at the car unless i pay $180. I am extremely angry they would put my family and me in unnecessary danger like this. Also, if this is a known defect, they should repair all their cars on the road and not subject people to dangers like this.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the dashboard failed and split in half near the passenger side air bag housing. The dealer was contacted and advised the contact that the dashboard failure was caused by wear and tear and was not considered a safety defect. The vehicle was not repaired. This should raise the question of airbag integrity and function. Such a widespread problem should be considered a manufacturer's defect and therefore be recalled and repaired by acura.

My dashboard has a huge crack coming down on the passengerside airbag. I also have 2 new cracks on top of the speedometer running up towards the windshield. The cracks seem to be getting bigger as time passes by.

On the dashboard there is a crack at the place where the air bag is suppose to deploy. The crack was not cause by impact nor by the sum.

The dashboard area around my 2004 tl passenger airbag is cracking. When i did an internet search i understand that several tls between 2004 and 2008 have the same issue with cracking of the dash in the same area. For some reason none of these cars were recalled. I am concerned about safety. The crack started in 2017 but has gotten worse since then.

Dealer maintained.

I have 2004 acura tl, about 105000 miles. Airbag lightwas intermittent, now stays on, dashboard on top passenger side cracked several months ago. The vehicle has no previous airbag deployment. May cause airbag deployment, safety issue?

The dashboard has started to crack on the passenger side of the air bag and is getting worse. I believe is a safety issue. The air bags didn't fail yet but concerned with the crack. I believe acura should pay to replace.

Multiple cracks on the dashboard that are close to the passenger airbag on the front right hand side. Cracks also happen throughout the dashboard by the instrument cluster and the middle close to the windshield. Very bad material acura used to make these with. Should be a recall due to the safety issue with the airbag also.

The dashboard panel of my 04 acura tl is severely cracked. My concern is if in the event an airbag did deploy due to false sensors or even due to an accident, how much damage will this cause me? i understand that an airbag will annihilate the dash if activated and hopefully damages are minimal but that was tested with a dashboard panel that was fully intact. I'm a little concerned since i also have 98 forerunner and the dash panel is nearly emaculant. I feel there is a manufacturing defect in the plastic in these vehicles that should be recalled and fixed.

2004 acura tl with approx 130,000 miles. Crack around the passenger side airbag.started 2 weeks ago and is getting larger.vehicle with no airbag deployment or accident history.

Takata recall. 2004 acura tl dash board noticed a long crack then the passenger seat belt and air bag light no longer turns on. The vehicle was parked inside my garage on 6/20/17. Checked online and many owners are experiencing the same issue. The crack if very close to the airbag and i am afraid it may deploy at any moment while driving causing it to be unsafe driving condition. Some to most owners are receiving a recall or replacement for the erorr according to takata recall.

I am the 2nd owner of a 2004 acura tl that i purchased in october of 2007.it has been a great vehicle with the exception of a recent defect issue.the dashboard has cracked multiple times directly over the passenger side airbag as well as over the instrument panel.it appears this is a common defect reported by several other owners of this year, make, and model of vehicle.i'm afraid the cracks may cause inadvertent airbag deployment which would be extremely dangerous to myself or any other occupant that may be in my car.i strongly believe acura needs to step up and handle this safety issue.

My 2004 acura tl has developed significant cracks in the dashboard, particularly around the area of the passenger side airbag. These appeared about a year ago and overnight became about 14 inches across in the side area of the dash. I am concerned airbags will deploy or may further cause harm in the event of an accident because of debris from the cracked areas. Also the airbag lights goes on intermittently which do not let know if it will work property. I have read in different forums that this is a generalized problem with 2004-2005 tl and acura has not acknowledged to consider this a safety issue for a recall.

Cracking in the dashboard on top of the passenger side air bag. Also airbag maintenance light came on when the crack appeared. Afraid that it is causing a safety defect.

A small crack developed on the dashboard on left side of the passanger side airbag. Over time, the crack has grown and another crack has developed on the right side along the passanger side airbag. Both cracks are of equal length running from the top of the dashboard down past the airbag. This definitely looks like a recall issue or acura needs to pay for the part to be fixed and/or replaced.

Dashboard cracking severely around airbag sites. Worried that this could be a dangerous safety hazard to my passengers and or myself

Near head-on collision on university boulevard in highlands ranch, colorado involving this vehicle on october 13, 2020. Our client was a front seat passenger and her curtain side airbag failed to deploy. She sustained very serious, life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized.*dt*dt*dt*dt*dt*dt*dt*dt

I was reading some other complaints here and this has also happened to my car.the dashboard is totally cracked surrounding the airbag and looks like the airbag will explode any time.i was actually just in an accident and it didn't explode, which makes me even more nervous. It looks horrible and is very expensive to replace.i have talked to several mechanics as well as a vinyl/leather repair place.the repair place won't touch it because it surrounds the airbag and could effect proper function.however, like i said, i was just hit in the front of my car and it didn't explode at all!

The dash has begun to crack and i fear it is going to weaken the dash where my air bags are located, resulting in a deployment.

While i was driving, i heard a buzzing noise. I turned to my passenger side to realize my dashboard airbag was cracking! this needs to be recalled!

My 2004 acura tl dashboard on the passenger side is cracked on both sides of the airbag.i am concerned for my safety and the safety of the passenger because of the position of the cracks could possibly deploy the airbag and cause injury.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v351000 (air bags) however, the part needed to do the repair was not available. The contact felt the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the delay. The vin was not available. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Takata recall?2004 acura tl dashboard started cracking 2 months ago and is getting worse. Now, it has cracks that show the outline of airbags on passenger and driver side of dash. This may cause issues with airbags deployment. I looked on line and found that this is a very common problem in the 2004 acura tl. This 2004 acura tl has approx 95000 miles, was purchased new and has been garaged since purchase. This vehicle has no airbag deployment or accident history. Airbag light sensor now comes on randomly .we are afraid the airbags will not deploy if in an accident or deploy at random. If this is not a safety issue i do not know what would constitute one and it seems acura refuses to address or fix the problem.

Passenger airbag warning light had been on for around 5 months prior to incident date where the dashboard has cracked right down the center of the airbag location and toward the center of the dashboard as well.we are in fear of the bag causing serious injury or death due to deploying spontaneously or not deploying correctly upon the result of a collision.i researched this problem as i am meticulous about my vehicles and always kept the interior surfaces protected as well as used a sun shield to keep the uv rays from affecting or fading the surface of the dash.i have not gone to a dealership as i see this is a major manufacturer issue and acura seems to be turning it's back on it's loyal customers.please let me know what i need to do to pursue this further or join in a massive lawsuit.

The transmission is lacking at any moment that happens to me in the middle of the street.no safe another car almost hit me. No safe .... My dash is horrible completely crackeand this definitely is going to affect the airbags in my acura 2004 tl.sorry is the wors of worst .yesi was driving going into the gas stationand car just lack i couldn't do anythingafter about20 minutes. The car gets on gear again and i get in gas station

The car has developed huge cracks around the passenger side airbag. Iam concerned that the cracks might cause my passenger side airbag not to work properly. The driver's side leather seat also begin to come apart.

Small crack started at center of dashboard near the window. In 1 day it has wrapped almost completely around the drivers side of the dashboard and is nearly 2 feet long now. My 1989 honda accord had a better looking dash after 23 years. This is a major safety issue and needs fixed asap by acura.

1. Spontaneous cracks in the dash around the passenger air bag unit.2.air bag warning light on3. Spontaneous crack in dash near steering column.

I noticed a small crack over my passenger airbag area over a year ago. That small crack has now grown to a much larger crack, in size and depth. Several cracks now all over dashboard. The ones over passenger airbag concern me due to its location. I have read that it has caused the airbag light to turn on. I have contacted acura to possibly replace it but because my warranty has expired, they refused.

In march of last year a crack in the dashboard running parallel to the driver side airbag appeared and extended from the windshield to the to glove compartment.in the intervening months, several more cracks near the airbag have appeared and the srs warning light is on whenever the ignition is live.given the recent publicity regarding airbags, and the many similar complaints i have read from other owners of 2004 acura tl's, i am increasingly concerned thatthis defect is both widespread and dangerous.since acura is aware of the hazard these significant failures present, and to date has taken no action to correct them, i believe the nhtsa must act to compel acura to recall and repair the affected vehicles.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While driving at an undetermined speed, the passenger side air bag inadvertently deployed. There were no injuries. The passenger side leather seat was severally damaged and torn due to the failure. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,000.

Dashboard cracking for no reason. Cracks are in many places and occur near the dash air bag which is concerning if it every goes off could send sharp pieces of the dash into myself or a passenger (wife, daughter). Photos can be taken if needed.

Torque converter has difference of 200rpm or greater than causing trans to over heat and failpower steering line allowing air into system. System locked up while drivingair bag sensor won't sent code

Dash is completely covered in cracks. I feel like this can't be safe with the airbags underneath the cracks. Also, whenever a passenger is in my car the airbag light comes on.

This is a near miss problem. We own an acura tl 2004.it has terrible blind spots. I think that the problem arises because the bars with the air bags in them are so wide that they can hide an entire car.we have had to add develop extra mechanisms to anticipate possible vehicles, and i feel much less safe driving this car than any other car i have ever driven.also, the hvac system is so complex that it is virtually impossible to manage it while driving.i hope you will start to look to see if you see a higher incidence of problems with the acura's or other vehicles with broad air bag holders and complicated heating and ac systems.

Sudden appearance of crack in dash panel, perfectly outlining passenger air bag. Appears air bag might be swelling, and about to break through dash panel.first noticed when on ordinary day-time drive on interstate highway..local dealer said has never seen this before on any model acura.dealer says it is only heat crack.this is not logical, as the vehicle is kept in my garage.furthermore, the only area cracking is around the air bag.the rest of the dash is as much exposed to the sun as the air bag area.we are in a very temperate climate of west virginia.no such problems seen in hot climates of florida, arizona, etc., according to local dealer.this situation is frightening, a serious safety concern, and should receive immediate attention.

Takata recallproblem...passenger side of car on dashboard-outline of airbag appeared, break in leather on dashboard. No car accident occurred. Airbag has not deployed as of yet.noticed crack on dashboard week of 5/15/2016

I have a 2004 acura tl and in the last months cracks have appeared on the dashboard, directly around the airbag compartment on the passenger side.it is definitely a defect of workmanship and or materials. There is way too much consistency in the positions of the cracks. There are hundreds of posts on social media reporting the same issue. Https://www.facebook.com/acuratldefectivedash/posts/219662424726766my car has 165k miles, is garage kept, detailed regularly with one owner.

I have not been contacted about the airbag recall, the potential problem with the accelerator pedaland the driver side lower ball joint recall. Several years ago i exited a highway, came to a stop sign and when i made a right turn the drivers side ball joint broke. I had the repair done and luckily i didn't hurt ao or myself. Thank you stay safe. I think it was in 2015.

My dashboard has multiple cracks resulting from no damage whatsoever.i have researched online and many other owners of acura tl models are seeing the same issue.i am concerned this will affect the airbag deployment system.

3 cracks have been forming for the last 6 months on my dash from the middle speaker over to the left airbag compartment area.they are now beginning to split.the airbag light also now comes on when there is a passenger riding on the right front seat.dealership gave me a replacement price of $2500 but that acura corporate is knocking off less than $200 for "goodwill".this is an obvious defect.

Dashboard cracked suddenly above the passenger airbag compartment exposing the airbag compartment to the sun through the crack.dashboard also deformed and appears to be sticking to airbag compartment around the edges on the top.the crack is growing. The crack initially formed suddenly while i was driving, and made a loud clap, which could startle drivers. I am concerned that the air bag could fail due to this defect and further cracks could form suddenly making startling noises while driving.the size of the crack and amount of deformation varies with temperature.

Cracks on my r side of dash to r side of air bag noticed at about 100,000 miles and cracks have split all the way down.

The dashboard of my car started cracking around november of 2011, it is now completely covered in large cracks, including one right over the center of the passenger side air bag. My main concern is the fact that the dash is obviously not structurally sound, therefore in the event that the passenger airbag deploys pieces of dash will become sharp projectiles flying through the car.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the front passenger side air bag housing fractured along the lower section of the dashboard. The contact was concerned that the air bag could deploy independently. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Front passanger dash began to crack in airbag area for no appearent reason. Was not over exposed to the sun and vehical had just over 80,000 miles at first sight of damage. Dash cracking continued on both sides of passanger airbag down towards glove compartment. Airbag light is permanently on due to this compromise. I tried to inquire about dealership coverage of replacement of this safety hazard, as i feared that bags may fully deploy at the slightest bump on the road/highway. Dealership said that i solely would have to cover repair and replacement of entire dash console, as they could not, and would not, take any responsiblity for defective equipment/materials. I have not repaired, as the cost is well into the $2,000 range for parts and labor! i am uneasy driving my vehical. I was not aware that so many acura tl 2004 owners have experienced the same problem. Acura should take safety responsibility and recall all 2004 acura tl vehicles with passenger dash/airbag defects!

I have the same problem that every 04 acura tl has. The dashboard has been cracking on me and my airbag indicator light stays on. I have contacted acura about the problem and they told me to take it into a dealer so they could look at it and send a report. I have not heard from anyone about fixing the problem let alone, hear from anyone at all. Acura should take care of this problem before someone gets seriously injured from a premature airbag deployment because of the cracked weak dashboard. The manufacturer should not wait for some thing serious like a death to happen from the problem just to fix it. The problem should be taken care of now. We the consumers want action and satisfaction with this problem. I hope acura comes to their senses and fixes this problem immediately. Goodnight!!

Cracked dashboard on passanger side where air bags are located.

I bought a certified used 2004 acura tl in 2011. The car was in awesome shape. Then in oct. 2014, i noticed two cracks running from the windshield almost to the glove box. It appeared to outline the airbag on the passenger side. Hairline cracks in the first couple of weeks. Then a cold spell hit and the cracks became much larger. Now a crack is running across the airbag area. I am very concerned about safety due to the airbag being compromised by a cracked dash. I took it to the dealer where i have purchased 3 acura tl's for my family. They told me that it was a very well known problem but there was no recall on this issue. They suggested using leather conditioner to soften the dash in hopes of stopping the spread of the cracks. They blamed it on armer all type product usage on the dash. They even gave me a leather conditioner kit to apply. Now, i have researched the thousands of other complaints about acura tl dashboard/airbag issues with cracked dashboards in 2004-2008 models. Safety is being compromised while acura/honda refuses to take responsibility. I have never seen a dashboard crack like this in the 40 years of car ownership! it screens defect and must be recalled.

Airbag indicator light on instrument panel illuminates periodically. Dashboard has developed one significant crack directly over the front passenger airbag.

Takata recall cracks have formed across the entire dashboard including around the area where the airbags are located. Issue seems to be worsening over time.

Takata recallmy son has a 2004 acura tl and on september 2nd, he drove to work with the car. On his way, while driving in the parking lot, his side curtain airbag deployed along with one from the seat only on one side.he took the car to the acura dealership in milford for diagnostic test per acura corporation, came back they are blaming him that he caused the airbag to deploy by driving over bumps, etc. They are refusing to fix the car. Yet still all the years from 2000 tl through present recall except 2004. And they are blaming him that they will not fix his car.that is not right, acura knows that the airbags are defected.he needs his car to go to work.

Cracking dashboard.

Im not sure when it happened as i was willed this car after my mother passed, and it was like this prior to her buying it. But the dashboard is cracked from one end to the other going down to the glove compartment and dash gauges. From what ive read this is very common in acuras 04-08, but i am now concerned about my airbags deploying properly. From what ive read everyone who has brought this to acuras attention has had to pay out of pocket to get it fixed, or leave as is.

Dashboard has crack from passenger side middle all the way toward driver side. Started about year 10 and got worse over the years. After reading some other complaints here i am also worried airbag deployment could either not trigger or trigger accidentally hurting a passenger in my vehicle. I also took to dealer and was instructed as out of pocket expense even though seems to be manufacture defect.

I was driving down the road when the passenger side dashboard cracked about 12 inches. The crack goes up right between the passenger airbag. For this reason alone this should be a recall. It makes my car look terrible. I hate when people see the crack. They always say "i thought these acura's were nice". I'm afraid to let anyone ride in the front seat in case of airbag failure.

Dealer maintained.

Within a 24-hour period, numerous cracks appeared on the top of the dashboard.most noticeable are two cracks that outline the portion of the dash that covers the passenger side air bag.my concern is that this condition will affect the operation of the airbag and its deployment when activated in a crash.this condition could be a danger to the passenger.

One day i got in the car and noticed a crack on the dashboard along the passenger side airbag.since then it is beginning to spread.

Dashboard has cracked (~10+ inches) need airbag seem.crack is large.may result in high velocity debris during air bag deployment.may result in improper air bag deployment.

The cracks around passanger side airbag.the air bag light has been on since the first crack appear.the cracks are on all over the dashboard.some chipping started now.i have taken to the dealer many times and i was told there is no issue but couldn't clear the light.the car is always parked in garage and under canopy at work.

The dashboard cracked in 3 places.it appeared to almost happen overnight it was so quick.the car has always been garaged or parked under a cover at work.it only gets direct sunlight while driving and the occasional store parking lot.at this writing the number of cracks is now 6.

We purchased an acura tl in 2013 as a third owner. We love the car and is always garage kept. However, one day suddenly cracks starting appearing along the dashboard on the passengers side. Also, the cracks propagated along the driver's side too. When i checked online, i wasn't the only one with this issue. There are several hundreds of people with this issue. I called acura and they did not take responsibility for a defective part.i have a master's degree in manufacturing systems engineering from university of kentucky and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. I work with plastic & steel components with design and manufacturing day in day out. I can tell you confidently that it is a 'defective' plastic part.it's not about the money for me, it's the safety concern i have. In case of an accident, i do anticipate the dashboard plastic chips acting as a shrapnel and causing injury to the passenger/driver. I really wish you could do something about this. Appreciate your help.regards

Cracks just started to appear in dash over passenger side airbag.the dashboard is split from glove box to windshield.

The entire dash of my acura has cracked and the cracks are everywhere.over the air bags, near the air bags....everywhere!! what is going on!?

Crack on dashboard on passenger side airbag. There has been no accident. Dealer will not fix it as there is no warranty left.

I purchased my 2004 acura tl 3.2l in august 2009. When i purchased the vehicle it had no marks on the dash. About a year after purchase i started to notice a crack on the drivers side about two inches long. I thought i might've scratched it with my ring. As time past, that small crack became viral. Stretches all over my dash. The scariest part is that the crack is running a perfect rectangle and shows a small indent where the passenger side air bag is. Now my airbag light goes on and stays on occasionally. I love my car and really hate to look at my cracks on my dash that somewhat resembles a spiderweb. I do not feel safe having a passenger bc who know when that may burst (if possible). I feel acura should recall these cars bc we paid for a durable, safe, and luxury car. This appears to be a common error with this make, year and model. My car still runs beautifully and hate to see her go down like this.

Dash pad cracking around passenger side air bag.

The dashboard has developed cracks in the area around the passenger-side airbag.does this constitute a potential safety issue affecting the airbag deploying properly or possibly shards from the dashboard causing additional injury?there has not been an accident but am concerned if a collision does happen in the future.

I have acura tl 2004 well maintained service on time . One day it's raining and i drive around 10 mph and after some time my steering was froze i can't move i about to get crashed then i think it might be due to steering fluid i check its almost good then i drive next few days and problem gone but again when it's raining it did same thing.im scared to drive that car in raining . It's only bad in raining i don't know why. It also has sometime airbag warning on in rain .

Not sure if this is takata issue as well! or due to defective dashboard materials which have cracked severely bad! when it started they were lines hardly noticeable! now due to neglegance of the company the primary cracks are over the airbag area & have crevices across top and they are across entire dashboard? the light for airbags comes on and off at random times? the seat belt beeping indicator is not working all the time anymore! my car even though it is a 2004 is in very good shape from what other people have told me! that is of course until they see the craters in the dash of what is suppose to be a higher end nice model car that should hold up better than????this is not to mention the fact of safety? is there a possibility the airbags have dried out or became effected due to these large cracks as well as what other damage it could be causing electronically? am i going to end up in some horrific car accident due to airbag release when just driving down the interstate and then it all be my fault for sweving over in another lane and cause the accident! then it will look as if i were at fault and airbags deployed as they should have done, instead opened prematurely due to defective parts? of course this is a hypothetical situation but i would think totally plausible!!! and all due to not having recalled what everyone already knows that dashboard material on this model and others that were recalled and repaired by dealers same year models 2004-2008 for the same identical reasons! that seems like a roll of the die at consumers expense! not to mention a liability to all consumers that happen to be driving these vehicles!

2004 acura tl crack on dashboard. Began to form along the border of the passenger airbag. Airbag outline is clearly visible on dashboard now. Poorly constructed dash. Airbag proper deployment risk.

My 2004 acura tl passenger side dash has cracked near the airbag causing the airbag light to turn on.*ln

My 2004 acura tl has a crack in the dash board around the passenger side airbag. This is not an isolated incident as i have recentlylearned that other 2004 and 2005acura owners are having the same issue. I am worried because the crack is spreading and does not seem at all safe. I attempted to contact acura corporate and honda and was told i would have to pay to correct an obviously defective part.

Cracked dashboard on an acura tl 2004 i feel it may crack along the airbag causing it to deploy.

I have an 2004 acura tl with cracked dash on multiple location including one next to the airbag which could becould be a safety hazard. There is even a face book group "acura tl defective dash" with hundreds of acura tl owners experiencing the same problem, but acura/honda is not willing to do anything about it.

My 2004 acura tl has a crack on the dashboard that outlines the airbag.the crack appears to get longer and diverges in other directions over time.i am worried that if the air bag was to deploy, pieces of the dash will come flying to the car's inhabitants and may also potentially alter the trajectory and velocity of the airbag.acura is unwilling to admit that this is a safety concern and refuses to replace my dash.i have been researching online and have found several complaints matching my exact issues.here is a link to a news report. Http://www.wsbtv.com/news/27832796/detail.html.

Cracks in the dash of my 05 acura tl that developed where the passenger air bag is supposed to deploy and may have the potential to affect the deployment of this safety equipment in case of an accident and, therefore, should be considered a safety hazard.

This complaint is in regards to 2004 acura tl dash boards cracking in the area of the passenger airbag. My car with 94k mile dash cracked yesterday perfectly along the passenger dash. While researching this online i see that several people have complained and have pictures of the exact same issue which can possibly be hazardous if the airbag deploys.

2004 acura tl: airbag cover on dash has cracked open on both sides of airbag. Afraid airbag will deploy randomly. The crack started small but has grown to almost the size of the dash car is garaged and dash covered in sunlight. Acura does not seem to want to acknowledge the defect.

I have 7 cracks in the dash of my 2004 acura tl.it started with 2 long cracks, one over the instrument panel and one in the passenger air bag cover.over the past 13 months 5 more cracks have appeared in the dash between the first 2 original cracks.these cracks are unsightly and may be a safety hazard since the passenger air bag cover is involved.

2004 acura tl severely cracked dashboard on the passenger side. I have 2vertical cracks on the passenger side of my 2004 acura tl. The cracks were not gradual they both happened suddenly overnight.i have not had any accidents or collisions that may have caused this defect and am realizing that the problem is quite common amongst 04 acura tl owners.from pictures on online forums the cracks appear to be identical in all cases.

I'm concerned about my 2004 acura tl passenger side airbag not being able to deployed in an accident.

Several dashboard cracks along the passenger airbag and all over the dash. Concerned as it is causing the airbag sensor warning light to be engaged. This can be a potential hazard as the airbag my fail in a collision or engage and release at any moment.

Several acuras tl 2004 have huge cracks on top of the airbags, our members have raised the issue of the possibility of a cracked dashboard being a safety hazard. Although we don't know of any cases yet, it is reasonable to believe that cracks that develop where the passenger air bag is supposed to deploy have the potential to affect the deployment of this safety equipment in case of an accident and, therefore, should be considered a safety hazard. We just cannot wait for someone to be permanently injured because of this defective part to act upon this, it is our responsibility to prevent this from happening. . link: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?ui...d=106173928650we also have a group on facebook called acura tl defective dash.

The dashboard on my 2004 acura tl has recently started to crack, starting small and growing in several places. Checked acurazine website to find over 44,000 like complaints. Most start above the passenger airbag starting from the windshield to the top of the glove compartment.

My acura tl has a long crack on the passenger side. All the way from the windshield down the right side of the rectangular air bag indent. Later in the afternoon it got longer. Almost all the way down to the glove compartment. This will defiantly affect airbag passenger deployment if deploy. I called my local dealer and told them about it. They said that this is not an acura problem. Apparently it is, knowing more than 1000 people with this problem. Check www.acurazine.com (cracked dashboard) and you'll find it, also there is a on facebook. This is my first acura. Really surprised at the quality of these parts. For a luxury car at $32k it's almost not worth it. Already had the water pump recalled and some other parts recalled. Not only that, my airbag light is starting to light up intermittently. At 90,000 miles seems like it's falling apart. My '97 camry had 200,000 miles and still ran like a champ until i traded it in for this thing.

Passenger side dashboard cracking around the airbag.

The contact owns a 2004 acura 3.2tl. While the contact was driving approximately 50 mph, the airbag warning indicator illuminated until the engine was turned off. The failure occurred whenever the engine was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The technician informed that the dashboard exhibited a hairline crack near the front passenger airbag housing which caused the airbag sensor to activate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

My 2004 acura tl has developed a large crack around the passenger side front air bag in the dash.this was at one time a completely sealed unit.the concern is that if there were to be a deployment, that either the deployment will not happen, incorrect deployment because of the seal being defective, or the cracked portion of the dash flying off and injuring or killing a person if deployed.

2004 tl cracking in dash getting worse everyday, happened starting 2009 with a small crack.now cracks are all over dash.possible airbag failure fromthe looks of the cracks.needs to be recalled.very unsafe.

2004 acura tl sedan dashboard cracks and splits around passenger airbag.srs warning light becomes illuminated afterwards.concern over proper airbag deployment.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that he noticed that the instrument panel developed cracks around the passenger side air bag area. The contact was concerned that the air bag would not deploy in the event of a crash. In addition, he was also concerned that if the air bag were to deploy independently, shards of the dashboard would potentially injure him or a passenger. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnosis or repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 102,000 and the current mileage was 122,000.

2004 acura tl, passenger side area of dashboard starting to crack above where airbag is located. Could this cause problem with airbag deployment when dash has numerous cracks. Have found other tl's in the 2004-2006 range with similar problems on forums and facebook links as well.

Acura tl (2004) dashboard cracking in multiple places, but particularly around passenger airbag.possible interference with airbag deployment, dangerous dash fragments during deployment and driver distraction dueto cracks.

Outline of passenger airbag has appeared as a crack in the dash on my 04 acura tl. It has 63000 miles and was bought as certified.

Acura tl 2004 dash cracks over airbag area. All cars from that year with the same problem and the dealer didnt resolve.

2004 acura tl - 56,000 miles.completely cracked dashboard around the passenger side airbag.i am worried about my passenger's safety as the cracks look as if they could interfere with the airbag deployment.

Cracked dashboard along the area of safety airbag.

2004 acura tl dashboard has horrible cracks on the passenger side around the airbags.there are smaller cracks around the speedometer panelnear the windshield.the large passenger side cracks could cause the airbag to not properly deploy. This is not an isolated issue.over three hundred acura tl owners have joined a facebook group regarding this issue but the number of effected owners is probably in the thousands.http://www.facebook.com/acuratldefectivedash.acura is not stepping up and we need help.http://www.wsbtv.com/news/27832796/detail.html.

I recently noticed a small crack on my dash that within two days time spread to be approximately the width of my dash.the scary thing is the first crack appears to be the outline of my passenger seat airbag.i'm scared if it continues to get worse, the airbag my deploy unexpected if i have to slam on brakes for any reason.now i have cracks all of the front of my driver side dash as well.they appear to continually get worse.i use a sun shade and have been applying a lot of interior car care conditioner but none of it has delayed the cracks at all.i am really scared this may cause an issue with my air bag.

2004 acura tl.the interior dash suddenly formed cracks forward of the steering wheel and over the passenger airbag system.my concern is that the cracked dash will impact passenger airbag deployment in case of an accident.i purchased an extended warranty for the car through acura when i purchased the car in 2004 which is still in force.the local acura dealership claimed the dash replacement was not covered.

The dashboard in my 2004 acura tl is cracked from the windshield down to the glove compartment on the right hand side. It appears to go right over the passenger side air bag.

My dash is cracking at a accelerated rate. First at the passenger airbag, now over driver side. My concern is if the dash is dry enough to split along the airbag seams, then what would prevent shards of dash flying off if the airbag deploys? the should get some serious safety considerations.

I currently owned a 2004 acura tl and the dash is cracking all around, now i am concerned for my safety in case of a crash how will it affect the airbags, acura ltd. Will do nothing to remedy the situation due to the dash is (normal wear and tear) meanwhile it is a brand new car.

Dashboard crack around the passenger airbag in my 2004 acura tl.no accidents yet but worried about possible injury or air bag deployment due to this condition.i understand this is a common problem with the 3rd generation acura tl series.

I have an acura tl 04 with a cracked dashboard where the passenger side airbag is located.a crack appeared on the driver side back in february, but now its cracking where the airbag is located.

Dashboard cracked where passenger airbag is located.on the internet, seeing a high frequency of complaints.concerns are the airbag may not work correctly now.

Dt*:the contact stated while changing lanes at 30 mph the vehicle hit another vehicle and the driver side airbag did not deploy.this was a frontal impact and the driver was wearing a seatbelt but sustained minor injuries.a police report was filed at the scene and pictures are available.the vehicle sustained frontal damage and was towed to a local tow yard awaiting inspection.the dealership and manufacturer were alerted.

2004 acura tl with cracked dashboard around passenger airbag.outline of the airbag was visible since the car had approximately 50000 miles.now the cracks are very visible and getting worse. Safety concern because of passenger airbag.called acura corporate, they offered a 25% discount to replace the dashboard which i believe is an admission that it is a defect.i could not afford to pay $1500 to have it replaced and feel that acura should replace the dash.many people have a similar problem.acura has not issued a recall.i am hoping that nhtsa can influence acura to do the right thing and protect the consumer.my car now has 100,000 miles and the cracks are very noticeable.i am concerned for safety of passengers because of the airbag.in addition, the car is supposed to be a luxury car and this defects detracts from the appearance and dramatically impacts the resale value.please do what you can to force acura to step up and fix the known defect.

The dashboard has cracked around the airbag area potentially compromising airbag deployment.

This involves my 2004 acura tl, which i have owned since october 2007. In the two and a half years since the purchase, significant cracks have appeared on the dashboard of this car. There are several cracks on the dash in front of the driving panel. There are also two major cracks on the passenger side, each one running from the windshield all the way to the glove box. What makes this worrisome is that each crack runs along the passenger side airbag, which is weakening the integrity of that airbag. I am concerned that these cracks could cause the passenger airbag to deploy unexpectedly, injuring any passenger in that seat and possibly even causing an accident. It could also cause the airbag to deploy improperly during an accident, and either fail to prevent injury or make the passenger's injuries worse.this defect is occurring in the 2004 and 2005 models, but acura is treating it as a cosmetic issue rather than a safety one, and refusing to cover the expense of replacing the dash, which costs almost $2000 including labor and parts. Other 2004/2005 tl owners who had the dash replaced were told that the new dash was made with different materials and would not have the same problem.this is a de facto admission that these dashboards were made with inadequate materials. This is indeed a safety issue, as it involves the airbag. These cracks are significantly compromising the safety of this car, and acura needs to issue a safety recall rather than treat it like a cosmetic issue.

Cracks in the dashboard area by the airbags.

On november 19, my 2004 acura tl was struck squarely on the driver's side door causing in excess of $5000 damage.for whatever reason, the side airbag did not deploy.i have written acura client services asking if there was some reason for this but they haven't given me the courtesy of an acknowledgement much less a reply.i don't know if there's a defect or and explanation as to why the bag did not deploy.

Wiring harness under molding below driver's side door inside passenger compartment developed a short, causing passenger compartment to fill with smoke.molding melted and situation was averted prior to a fire developing.

My 2004 acura tl is my first car owned. When i put the car in drive i can only accelerate to 20-30mph on the highway. Because, the car would not accelerate on a straight way or up hills. This is a dangerous manufacture malfunction with acura transmissions for the consumers financially and physcially. I would appreciate a recall being done on my 2004 acura tl because i love this car and would love to keep it. I am a college student and do not have the money to install another transmission and the same thing happens again. I have read many reviews about transmissins failures on honda/acura transmissions. I thought acura was a great brand, but acura ceo and headquaraters have to know that consumers are frustrated and angry regarding transmissions and other related issues due to the transmissions.

Driving along and power goes out. As if pops out of gear. But do not hear a popping into and out of gear. Then all the sudden pops back into gear. This is dangerous. High speed and then power goes out.

Car turned off and would not start back.security light flashes. Will not change our of park. Engineers turns over but will not fire. Fuel pump will not come on.

The biggest problem with my acura is the battery. I have replaced at least 4 batteries since about 39,000 miles. I never knew why my battery was dying until about two months ago, an employee at acura told me that the hands free link is draining too much of the battery because of some faulty equipment. I asked for them to cover it for free and was denied because there is no recall with that equipment yet. They are aware that other acuras have had the same problem and yet they still won't cover my cost for new equipment or at least cover cost to get the hands free disconnected. This device is still draining my battery. The other problem with car is that the brakes in front were sticking so bad i had to ge the roaders grinded on two different occasions. Now the back brakes are sticking too. Please call when you reach a decision.

I was parked in an automatic carwash when my driver side airbag started dripping water on me. I'm afraid this could cause my airbag to deploy. I've also experienced crazy electrical issues intermittently that are not safe and i wonder if this is related. I also have a video if that is needed.

About 18 months ago the headlights on my 2004 tl began flickering on and off while i was driving.i took the car to acura but they couldn't find the problem and they told me it would cost $1000 to do an "appropriate diagnostic test".the problem with the headlamps stopped after a few months, but then other lights began going out (interior center console where the ac and radio are, and the interior console to the left of the steering wheel, and the interior door console) and flickering (exterior side panel lights when i alarm or dis-alarm the car).i took the car to acura again in nov 2011, and they told me the problem was was fixed after they replaced my battery, but they mistakenly only looked at the driver's dashboard lights where the speedometer/odometer are located (and where there is no problem) and the techs didn't understand what i was talking about. This lighting problem is getting unsafe, as i can no longer see the buttons for the ac/defrost, etc. At night and i have to fumble around to press the correct buttons. I know i am not the only one with this issue.the battery was so drained that i had to replace it, i believe because of this issue.

Car brought in at 1500 miles only 2.5 weeks after delivery...hard to start and idle rough, dealer action replacving all fuel injectors, also, voice recognition failed three times after phone was sinked with car, the touch screen display would fail to close the phone screen and all other voice commands would not be allowed. Dealer action, order new phone module, told there have been several concerns with the hands free link system on the 04 tl's.

The knock sensor wire sends emission from the engine. If there is a problem with emission the sensor is suppose to adjust the fuel. However, the check engine light illuminates. Took vehicle to the dealer. However, the problem had not been resolved.

On 1/19/05 my windshield wiper fluid, autodimming rearview mirror feature, & power side view mirrors were not working. I immidiately went to the dealership and a fuse was replaced. On 1/27/05 i began to drive and dirty water from the melted snow was hitting my windshield. I attempted to clear the dirt with the washer fluid, but it again was not working. I immediately went to the dealership and was told this is a problem with 2004 acura tls and that acura is working on it. They repalced the fuse and sent me on my way. In the meantime i can't rely on my washer fluid to remove obstructions to my vision, which may cause a hazardous situation, especially after rain and snowfall. Currently, no perminent solution was offerred.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked in various areas around the passenger side air bag. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I own a 2004 acura tl that i purchased in april 2013. After i had the car a month it began to ride rough where the drive is normally smooth for about a day. After a day the engine light came on, then about am hour later the vsa and temperature gauge ignited, then the car would not accelerate any more. The manual informed me to restart the car in order to clear this condition, and it normally works only temporarily. This same problem may occur again the next day, couple of days or a week, but it is an continuous problem that often puts me in compromised and dangerous traffic situations. I have spent thousands of dollars at several dealers and other mechanics trying to get the issue resolved and have been told over and over that they can not detect a problem with the care or they are not codes deciphered by the diagnostics that should cause that can be fixed to relieve this condition. The dealer said that the codes are erased once the car is turned off then back on, and the dealers that say they see the codes say the codes does illustrate a problem.

The vsa (stability control) system on my 2004 acura tl malfunctioned. The system would cause the right front brake to activate by itself, causing the car to severely swerve to the right. After a half-second or so, the vsa would disengage and the fault indicator would lite up on the dashboard. The acura dealer was unable to diagnose the problem because vsa fault codes are not stored in the vehicle's memory after the car is restarted and the system automatically resets. This resulted in having to continue to drive the car until the fault re-occurred. Eventually, when it happened again, i was able to take the car directly to dealer and they were able to diagnose the car (because we left it running so as not to clear the code). The problem was traced to a yaw rate sensor in the vsa system. Acura should make this information available to dealers. This poses a serious safety problem at highway speeds and there is nothing a driver can do to predict or prevent when this problem will occur.

Several time my right brakes have completely locked up for a few seconds with no warning. This cause car to veer off to the right nearly causing an accident. This has happened multiple times and can be recreated.

Car runs great but will skip out of gear and not move. Changed tranny fluid and filters and it was good for a couple days and started all over again had to call a tow truck to pick me up on the busy freeway. Now car will not even shift from park and when i use the side release button and put car in r it rolled forward. Dealer says there is no recall on my vehicle but there is in others like mine and same problems. 3000 dollar transmission and it's to much to fix so it's scrap metal???

I was driving at about 45-50 mph when the brakes suddenly came on very hard without me touching the brake peddle and the car slowed very rapidly (in a straight line) almost to a stop. The brakes were then released as suddenly as they had been applied before the car came to a complete stop. The pulses from the antilock braking system (abs) during the braking period indicated the brakes were being applied rather than a problem with the automatic transmission. I pulled off the road to check that the transmission was still functional and that no unusual fault lights were being displayed on the dash. Since everything appeared normal i resumed my journey only to have the same spontaneous braking phenomenon occur five or six times over the next 2-3 miles. Fortunately i was close to an acura dealer so i drove the car at 40 mph with emergency flashers on to the acura dealer (about 3 miles away). Driving the car at 40 mph did not prompt a recurrence of these spontaneous braking episodes over this distance.the acura dealer diagnosed a faulty accelerator position sensor and replaced the sensor assembly. There has been no recurrence of these spontaneous braking episodes over the 39 miles i have driven the car since the accelerator position sensor was replaced.i consider this spontaneous braking problem with my 2004 acura tl as extremely serious. Had a bus, truck, large suv or pick up truck been following closely behind me when these braking episodes occurred i think it quite likely a serious and fatal accident could have happened.

Brake pedal feels spongy and reduces stopping power due to air in the brake lines requiring replacement of the vsa modulator. (2004-06).i researched this online, after noticing my breaks were soft and less effective over the past few times i drove.they want to charge 2.6k to repair the module, despite them clearly having issues in the past.i'm hoping you will issue a recall so we can get reimbursed for this defective product which is a safety issue few can afford.

My power steering has gone out i think hose busted hard to steer and transmission is slipping reverse is going out

There is a very common issues going on with these acura from 2000 up to 2008. With transmission going bad. I research it and found out with every shop and people online having transmission break down with those acura tl 2000 up to 2005.please can someone investigate this. There should be a recall for this at some point. The stop accelerating while i was driving it on the highway.that was a very big safety issue for me.

The transmission just quit on me. No power at all.

04 acura tl car caught on fire because of recall i was un aware of what do i do? me and my 4 year old son were in the car while i was driving it happened.

Engine emissions warning light came on.brought in for service immediately.defective fuel pressure regulator and leaking head gaskets diagnosed, requiring almost $3000 in repairs.

I was driving on the highway doing about 65mph and my vehicle just went into a complete stop and it will not exceed 50mph immediately my check engine light came on and when i brought it to the dealer they reported that the throttle was loose and that there is nothing else wrong and that is when they informed me that the engine that my vehicle has is not the vehicles original which i was not very happy about because i should have been told this before i bought the vehicle. Not to mention the fact that i could have got into a serious accident when this incident occurred.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl 3.2.he stated that whileidled, he smelled smoke but did not realize it was coming from his vehicle.he noticed flames coming from the engine when he opened the hood.the flames ceased when he turned off the vehicle.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the failure was with the power steering wheel.the failure and current mileages were 54,000.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl.the contact stated that the check engine indicator light illuminatedwhichindicatedthat the knock sensor failed.the vehicle hesitated while accelerating and the exhaust fumes had a strong aroma.the contact stated that the vehicle has a decreased in gas mileage.the contact will bring the vehicle to a dealer for a diagnosis.the current mileage was 56,829,and failure mileage was 56,200.

My 2004 acura tl was parked during an ice storm in raleigh, nc, last week. When i returned to my car and started it on wednesday, january 12, 2011, the windshield wipers would not come on. I checked the fuses and did not find a problem there. I brought my car to the dealer for oil change, brake pads, and to check the wipers this morning. I looked on this website and found out there had been a recall in 2008 of the windshield wiper motor. When i called the dealer, they informed me that the recall service had already been performed on my vehicle in 2008. It seems to me that something else is wrong if the motor has failed again. This is costing me about $380 and am wondering if there is anything i can do to recoup the money for this repair. Is it not likely that this problem is related to the previous problem for which the car was recalled? there was no problem with the windshield wipers prior to my trip, and the car sat in the same spot from saturday night until wednesday morning.

My wife drives the car on a regular basis.on 5/21/12 she advised a crack @ 2" had developed on the passenger side dash over the air bag.on 5/22/12 the crack had enlarged and is now @ 4" long.

On honda accords/acura tl's 2004-2008 the navigation systems are failure and causing reboots nearly every 30 seconds. At night driving, this causes the navigation screen light to brightly flash every 30 seconds and the system will not function and allow you to turn the screen off or minimize brightness. On a recent trip from atlanta, georgia to baltimore, maryland at night i had to place an obstacle on the screen to avoid the flashing. I contacted acura and they are aware that this is happening and that the fix is to purchase a new system at $3,500 or sent the system to alpine (the maker of the navigation system) and have them attempt to repair it for $158.00 fee. After reviewing numerous forum sites on honda/acura i have found this to be a very common event. I feel that this is very dangerous while driving at night. My son attempted to drive this vehicle on 12/24/2011 during the day and brought the car back home because of the flashing and annoyancewhile driving. This was coming from a 22 year old. I've asked my children to not drive the vehicle at night so to avoid any issues. Has there been any reports? acura told me that they report to this agency monthly and that my report/call to them today would be submitted this month.

Since all headlights have been redesigned to have plastic covers rather than glass, the amount of light available for lighting the road has diminished with time as the plastic ages.i have seen some vehicles where the headlight covers are totally opaque. If any vehicle has diminished luminous from its lights, it is a hazard to all other vehicles and pedestrians. Recalls should be sent to all manufacturers.

I know i am not the only one with this issue.the battery was so drained that i had to replace it, i believe because of this issue.

The rear brake lights of this acura tl were failing to turn on when pressing on the brake pedal or were extremely dim.another driver notified me when he nearly rear ended the car.the problem was determined to be a faulty brake switch, which seems to be a common issue on many (2004+) tls based on the tl forums.honda/acura has issued a new replacement part with updated part number as well.this part should be swapped out on all affected models to prevent rear end collisions!

Previous recall on the power steering hose leaking, mine is leaking when in motion and stationary, previous recall on internal transmission fault, previous recall on wiper motor housing, current recall on ball joints, was told by mechanic i have a ball joint problem, current problem with passenger side headlight going out. Replaced ballast with new one and head light worked for a couple of weeks and went out again, notice while in motion and stationary.

2004 acura tl both xenon headlights stop working. This car low and high beam are on this system (one bulb for both low and high beam). No lights for driving at night and bad weather.

The left headlamp beam creates a dark/blind spot about 5-6' inches in diameter. The driver's eyes start focusing on this spot at high speeds the driver misses the lanes and gets blinded, dazed and confused - a cause that may very soon cause accidents.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl.while driving at an unknown speed, the contact was pulled over by the police and informed that the passenger side headlight was not working.the contact did not notice any differences in the headlights prior to the failure.the driver side headlight has recently been diagnosed by the dealer for the same issue.the passenger side headlight has not been diagnosed.the current mileage was 110,000 and failure mileage was 50,000.

Low beam head lights offer a dangerously low amount of light on roads with dips and hills and curves especially in neighborhoods.lack of ambient light eliminates any chance at the split-second decision needed to avoid a possible deer or cat crossing or pedestrian in your path.normally at low neighborhood speeds your bright light beamsare not needed or used so the blacked out areas can pop up at anytime with no warning.these lights are going to cause accidents and deaths if they are not replaced with ones that are practical for everyday driving.what works on a test track isn't always best for the average driver.

Acura 2004 low beam headlights.insufficient illumination of the road on driver's side, especially going down a hill.cannot see if something/someone dashes out from driver's side.dealer checked and it meets specifications for type of light/design.

2004 acura tl turn signals stopped functioning. **** no answer required***.*mrthe dealer was unable to permanently repair the turn signal problem.there was also a rattling noise heard inside the vehicle.the dealer lubed and insert foam tape to the radio but the problem recurred.

Engine emissions warning light came on.brought in for service immediately.defective fuel pressure regulator and leaking head gaskets diagnosed, requiring almost $3000 in repairs.

I started my car, backed out of my driveway, started to go down the road and smelled a strong whiff of gasoline. So i backed up and pulled back in my driveway to find gas pouring down the front of my gas tank, all over the exhaust system. In a few seconds of having the car running i had a 5 foot pool of gas under the car. If my wife had taken the car, she wouldn't have noticed and kept going. This could have been really bad. The car is a 2004 acura tl with about 50,000 miles on it, but i have the extended warranty. The car is currently at the dealer and they just called me and said that they found a fuel line has split and they ordered the part. They have not yet figured out what may have caused the fuel line to split. My wife can not smell and also is a smoker, so luckily i happened to take the car when this happened.

I bought a used 2004 acura tl that has run fine for 6 months so far. Just last night, when stationary and trying to move forward my transmission started slipping, stalling out and ramping up to 5000 rpm. After a green light with cars behind me and i can't move an inch. I take my car to a transmissions specialist to learn that there is coolant mixing with my transmission fluid.there was a nhtsa recall on the automatic transmissions for acura tl's in 2004. Recall number 04v176000 . The transmissions specialist said that in 23 years working he couldn't remember the last time he saw this problem in a honda, he thought they called back those coolers. Anyway, calling my local acura dealer, they just looked up my vin and told me there is no recall assigned to my car, and therefore they can't do the recall work. Yet i have the exact problem described in the recall!i read that manufacturers are only required to do recall work for 10 years but they might do older work (14 yrs) in this case since there are so many old cars still on the road, or if it poses a risk to the road (which in this case it certainly does).i'm looking at a $2600 fix that i feel should be addressed by the manufacturer and i'm being blown off.'on some vehicles, certain operating conditions can result in heat build-up between the countershaft and secondary shaft second gears in the automatic transmission, eventually leading to gear tooth chipping or gear breakage.'

Ongoing problems went to dealer told was fine. Experience leaks and noise issues was told no problem.back to dealer was told something wrong with steering rack , power steering pump and leak somewhere.vehicle had several recalls in past for same problems.

Car turned off and would not start back.security light flashes. Will not change our of park. Engineers turns over but will not fire. Fuel pump will not come on.

Power steering spit out oil everywhere

Last weekend i was driving in the highway all sudden my car lose power and the transmission became not engaged with engine and almost got into a major accident. The car was performed perfectly before that. I kept the car in top condition never had any issues. So the car was towed home and i tried to diagnose the issue and found out that the tramission filter was bad and the loose filter components got stuck in the after filter hose bolt. According to the owners manual transmission filter does not have any maintenance scheduled to change the filter. My car has about 170,000 miles. When the filter gets old and become brittle and breaks apart and block the fluid passage causes my tramission to fail. Please see attached for the pictures with filter material stuck in the filter bolt.

My 2004 acura tl has recently been experiencing issues where the transmission would lock up while driving, potentially leaving myself and my passenger(s) susceptible to a vehicular crash and rendering the vehicle immobile. While checking the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), the u.s. Automotive recall and acura websites, i saw that there had been a recall (00-04 cl & tl a/t recall) for the 'exact same issue' i was having with my acura. I then proceeded to call the 1800 number that was on acura's webpage.upon calling this number, i was instantly met with resistance about the recall and was given the run around about the appropriate person to speak with regarding this issue. I was specially told that my car was not impacted by this recall and acura would not honor the safety defect that potential affected 1,099,796 units according to the recall summary that is displayed on all three websites previously mentioned. When i requested to speak with a zone manger or someone that would look into my inquiry, i was put on hold for 20 minutes, only to speak with a customer service agent by the name of julian. Julian reiterated that my issue was not applicable to the recall and suggested that i take the vehicle to an acura dealership at my own expense. I informed julian that i was not pleased with his decision to dismiss my inquiry and i requested his contact information to file a formal complaint, which he refused to give me.i am reaching out today because my vehicle has been affected by nhtsa recall number: 04v-176 and i have not received the customer service that anyone would find acceptable in resolving this issue. I would like for my vehicle to be repaired by acura at no expense to me and for someone at acura to follow up with me by the end of this week with a resolution to this matter.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shifted into gear abruptly. The vehicle would also hesitate between gears. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the transmission would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure became worse until the vehicle would not shift into any gear and became inoperable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed of a recall under nhtsa campaign number: 04v176000 (power train) but did not confirm if the vehicle was included in the recall. The failure and current mileage was 124,000.

Torque converter has difference of 200rpm or greater than causing trans to over heat and failpower steering line allowing air into system. System locked up while drivingair bag sensor won't sent code

Drive axle broke in side torque convertor while i was driving 45 speedi had no trans when axle broke steer car over to side of road so another vehicle didnot hit me

The transmission seems to be falling out of gear. Its an automatic and when i put it into drive sometimes it doesn't go although the rpm still goes up and gas is still being pushed so im pretty sure the car thinks its going when its not. When i was driving on a busy road my acura decided to fall out of shift as i was turning. So, everythings great and then all of a sudden my car wont go instead its just rolling even though i give it gas and the rpm goes up.

After having my car in the shop for 2 weeks trying to figure out why the power steering won't stop freaking exploding when there is nothing wrong with any of the parts except the hoses going bad. I once again was left in the middle of a busy street with no power steering trying to muscle my way back to the shop. This is ridiculousssssss. Why are they not telling us their cars have issues!!!!!

While on a hill to make a left turn a supermarket the transmission started to make a loud noise and the car started rolling backward with the shifter in drive in drive mode. At that movement the engine stalled and it was difficult for the car brakesto be applied and in reverse the car crashed into a hydraulic lift gate causing major damage and the insurance company declared a total loss.the police officer arrived to investigate and try toput the shifter into park and it was very difficult. The police officer declared that the car had a mechanical failure and it caused the accident. Note, this transmission was installed by acura last year with about 15,000 miles driven and failed.

Driving along and power goes out. As if pops out of gear. But do not hear a popping into and out of gear. Then all the sudden pops back into gear. This is dangerous. High speed and then power goes out.

Powertrain recall issue 04v176000....accelerated on its own when i was slowing down to park just hit the curbslightly ..then the d light started blinking...very scary.

Bought used on 1/1 /2018,drove fine for about 10 minutes and then it felt like car went into neutral and car wouldn't move. We were about an hour from my house from where we bought car. We then had to pull over ,shut the car off , wait 5 minutes and start car for it not even go a mile and we would have to repeat. We were traveling on busy parkway and this became a traffic hazard due to the amount of traffic.the car will shift into any gear and has 130,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle failed to shift into another gear even with the engine revving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the gears failed because the second or third gear was not getting enough lubrication to shift properly. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 04v176000 (power train). The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was 130,000.

My son purchased a new 2004 acura tl from the elk grove ca dealership with money he saved while in the navy.he has had the car and maintained it through the end of last year but has been aware for awhile that the transmission is in need of replacing.there was a nhtsa recall (04v176000) april 15, 2004 for power train transmissions like the automatic transmission in my son's car and motor trend magazine posted that it potentially 1,000,796.we believe that our son's car has the same problem, whether or not the vin was in the exact lot selected for the official recall.when my son got out of the navy, he moved around quite a bit while finishing his bachelor's degree and did not receive any information regarding this matter from acura and did not hear about it otherwise. We have taken the car to the fremont, ca acura dealership but they are refusing to acknowledge any culpability or replace the transmission, though there are obvious, well-known, historical transmission issues with acuras.refusal is, of course, the first line of defense in corporate america, but we hate to see his hard earned money ($30k+)spent on what was supposed to be a high-performing, luxury vehicle.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While driving 55 mph, an abnormal noise was heard coming from the front of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fourth and fifth clutch plates failed and needed to be replaced. Another independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

My power steering has gone out i think hose busted hard to steer and transmission is slipping reverse is going out

I am texting you because there was a recall on the transmission and it broke down on me when i went out of town so it is still sitting in the town i went to and the recall was on power train automatic transmissionrecall number 08v091000 on 2/7/2008 and i would like to know when i can get my vehicle repaired.

Top of my dash where the glovebox is all crack where the the takata inflators our

Recall number 04v176000 power train:automatic transmissioni have noticed that when you type in your make and model this is the recall that shows up, but when i use my vin it does not show this recall but it shows the same symptoms/ issues that are on this recall. My car whines after certain rpm. I called acura and explained the same and they said it is not specific to my vin. I asked a dealer and the employee explained that this was common and people have driven their cars with same issues up to 400k miles. Is this safe for me to drive when i know the problem exists. How can the manufacturer get away not honor when the exact problem exists. I have read a few complains that other people have expressed on the web. Is there anything i can do so acura can honor this issue?

One of the front axles sheared (broke in half). This happened when the car started moving forward when the light turned green. An accident didn't result but if this had happened while the car was moving it would have been very bad. The mechanic suggested the axle was made with weak metal. The car had 122,000 miles on it and has since been sold to carmax. The other front axle has not been replaced but likely is made of the same weak metal. I have the broken axle and will save it for another month.

My 2004 acura tl is experiencing transmission issues. I was driving down a city street when my car suddenly began slipping gears. The engine would rev when i pressed the gas, however, the car was acting like it was in neutral. I was driving in traffic so this could have potentially caused a crash. I am thankful that this did not happen while i was on the highway just moments before the problem started happening. I was able to steer the car to the side of the road and put it into park. The car would not properly shift into drive or reverse. I had to get my car towed to a mechanic. He stated that something in the transmission was overheating and that some serious damage could have occurred. The transmission problems that i am experiencing are identical to the problems outlined in recall #04v176000.

Vehicle transmission is shifting hard and feels like it's slipping

Vehicle sputtering/judders during acceleration at low speeds (around 25-35mph). This problem started sometime after (may be in 2009) i bought a pre-owned vehicle in 2007. When i first complained it to a dealer in 2009, they said it might be due to cold weather. But now i moved to a place which is warmer all year around, but still the problem persists. Recently took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the transmission might need a replacement.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While driving 35 mph, the gear shifter tooth failed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter tooth fractured and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000.

Sudden loss of power to the wheels while driving.when i pressed on the accelerator the engine rpms would increase but the car would not move forward or speed up.this first happened while driving down a residential street.had i been making a left turn with on-coming traffic it could have been dangerous.this appeared to be caused by a slipping transmission.it occurred unexpectedly when the transmission and engine were warm (after driving several miles).i later found that after the car had cooled, the transmission would behave normally until it got warm again.first they said my transmission fluid needed to be changed.they did that and said the car was running normally again.i left the dealership and had the same loss of power within a few miles.i let the car cool down and then returned to the dealer.they then diagnosed it as transmission failure.i had the transmission replaced with a factory rebuilt transmission at the dealership at my expense.my warranty had expired 3,000 miles earlier.

At six years and 60k miles, the automatic transmission on my 2004 tl had to be rebuilt at a cost of $3,200. The car was out of warranty and acura would not extend the warranty. I am very disappointed. I expected greater longevity from this transmission.

Sudden transmission failure, without any warning or previous noise.similar symptoms of a previous recall, but honda insists it does not affect my vin.

As i was driving on interstate 8 west bound on cruise control about 65mph. I get a smell of oil burning, asi look at my dash i see the rpm at 4k. So i turn off my cruise control as i step on the gas, nothing happens. So i continue to roll and pull over. When i open my hood alot of oil on my engine.

2004 acura tl-transmission failure-well this has not happened to my car as of yet but i can feel the slipping of the transmission and im positive it will go out at anytime, and from what it states in your list acura has an acknowledgement that this is happening on 2004-2005 tl's transmission. As it states in the review it could cause a crash if it locks up which could be fatal or non-fatal. I would like to know why this isn't a recall since so many have been affected by this issue and if its possible to get them to because its involving my safety as well as others if it occurred while driving.thanks, william osborne

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that dashboard crack under the passenger side air bag. The contact stated the passenger side air bag had become exposed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the dashboard was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 125,000. . ..updated 12/03/12updated 12/06/2012

Severe vibration at most speeds, particularly in the 40 - 60 mph range.

While driving home from a doctors visit, my 2004 acura 3.2tl would not shift into 2nd gear, the engine would rev up but the car would not move, rpm's would just jump up and down like it was stuck in neutral. I shut the car off, turned it back on and it worked fine for another two miles before acting up again. I took the car to harper acura of knoxville and they suggested i get a power flush of the transmission and that would most likely solve the problem, so i agreed. Later that day i picked up the car, (richard, service manager) said they flushed the system, added some type of gel additive to lock in whatever was lose inside the transmission and that the more i drove it the better it will be. Well i took it home, drove it around and it kept acting up, i didn't think anything of it and kept driving per richards suggestion. Car still slips out of second gear going up hills or at traffic light. I'm having to shut the car off in the middle of traffic and then re-start and drive off, but i'm afraid if i keep driving like this, transmission will completely fail. According to nhtsa there is a recall on the power transmission for this year and model car however according to acura, it doesn't apply to my vin number even though the car was manufactured in 2004. Acura corporate office wont explain why my transmission is not recalled, however others are and their from the same year, model and manufacturing plant. Now i have to figure out how take my two year old daughter to school every morning and risk her safety as well as mine in a car with faulty transmission that acura doesn't want to take any responsibility for. My car only has 83,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2004 acura 3.2tl.while driving 60 mph, the vehicle lost power.the contact attempted to accelerate, but the vehicle failed to move.the dealer performed an oil change on the vehicle the day prior to the failure and they stated that everything looked fine.when a tow truck was called, the vehicle would shift into drive, but not into reverse.the vehicle would then only drive in reverse regardless of the gear.the dealer stated that the vehicle needed a new transmission. The current and failure mileages were 90,000.updated 01/07/08. *ljacura agreed to cover a portion of the consumers rental expenses. Updated 12/12/07

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a mechanic for routine maintenance and he was informed that there was a transmission leak on both sides of the mount. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who inspected the failure and advised that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 80,000. Updated 04/30/13*ljthe dealer discovered the leak was coming from both side of the differential and the axle was loose. Updated 05/20/13

Recently purchased an accura 2004 tl.car currently has 600 miles.noticed a vibrations between the speeds of 45 to 55 mph.took the car back to dealer(rick case) twice to have the wheels rebalanced.did not remove the vibration.the third time back to the dealer i was told that acura is aware of the problem and that all tl's have this issue.i called honda.they said there is nothing they intend to do regarding the problem and that the vibration is normal for the 2004's as it goes into 5th gear.

2004 acura 3.2tl- transmission slipped while i was driving the car on the highway.

Letter to the administrator from re problems with his 2004 acura tl *tgwthe consumer stated his vehicle recently started sputtering during acceleration at low speeds. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and was later informed the transmission needed to be replaced.the consumer later discovered a recall had been issued for the 2nd gear. The consumer inquired about having the work performed under the recall. However, the dealer stated the recall had already been performed previously. The consumer stated when he purchased the vehicle, it had 30,394 miles on it and if the recall was performed prior to him purchasing the vehicle, it wasn't done properly.

I was satisfied with this car until recently. Presently having a problem with front end vibration. Changed and balanced tires, plus alignment. Problem still continues. Returned car to dealer for recheck and was informed that the vibration is my transmission going bad. Approx. 66000 miles on the car. If this is the case something needs to be done.

Vibration leading to a shudder in the front end of a 2004 acura tl.vibration starts at 1500 rpm up through 2000 rpmat 45 mph through 60 mph.vibration and shudder is intermittent in nature and can be quite severe causing you to slow down.car has been back to the dealer 3 times since i purchased it in october 2004.they have aligned the motor mounts, balanced the tires, adjusted the solenoid on the transmission and adjusted a heat shield .still have the problem.spoke with acura client serviceand was told this is a driving characteristic of the car but their engineers are working on it. They assigned a case # to it b01-2004-11-1100593, my case managers name is ed.at present they have no fix for the problem and i don't feel they know what the problem is.i have noticed many postings on the internet from other acura tl owners having the same problem.

Have owned the car less than 1 week, and upon delivery of the car noticed a high-pitched whine at about 35 to 40 mph. The whine continues up through higher speeds, and continues throughout deceleration down to about 15 to 20 mph. Took into the service department who contacted acura usa about the problem. They isolated the whine coming from the transmission, and they are sending a new (?) transmission as a replacement. I feel that this is terrible that the car was not diagnosed with a problem and then allowed to be sold with a transmission defect. I want nothing short of a total replacement.

Vibration at 50-55 mph.sometimes worse than others.can make car feel unstable.changing tires did not help.

Vehicle vibration at constant speeds in the range a) 30-40 mph; and b) 50-60 mph; this vibration in the vehicle creates an aversion to drive with the vibration and therefore exceed these speed limits although the local speed limits posted may be lower.

2001 acura tl customer states that he was not happy with the service received and the work was not done correctly**cc the consumer took his vehicle to have the recall performed regarding the transmission, however when he received his vehicle back, it was in worse shape than when he brought in. The seats were covered with footprints and dirt, the windshield had a layer of greasy smoke film on the inside, the wiring was dangling beneath the glove compartment and the brake light wouldn't turn off for several minutes.

Driving highway speed, and the transmission failed. Engine was revving, but there was no response at the wheels. The car is now with a transmission specialist where i have been to,d it will require a complete rebuild of the failed transmission system.

Transmission shudder at 35-50 m.p.h while transmission is shifting through gears.

I purchased a new 2004 acura tl and it has a driveline vibration at speeds of 48 to 60 mph.because of the vibration, you have to drive the car above 60 mph to eliminate the driveline vibration.i think this is a safety related issue and you should do something about it!

My 2004 acura tl (5at) has a driveline vibration at 1500 rpms.i have replaced the tires at my own cost, but that did not resolve the issue.the dealer has no resolution for this issue, and acura care claims that they are aware of the issue but there are is no resolution planned.

My 2004 acura tl has a consistent vibration problem when the car is running between 50 and 60 mph.the vibration seems to come from the front of the car, and it is not present when the car is running at speeds less than 50 mph or greater than 60 mph.i reported the problem to my dealer and they assured me that it was a problem with the tires.they replaced the tires, but the problem persists.i have called acura customer service several times toreport the problem, but they indicate that the vibration is a characteristic of the car.i have never had any other car with a similar characteristic, and i believe that the problem is a design defect which acura is choosing not to fix.

Struts snapped on highway

Air bag light is on and air bag is deactivated due to defective switch in seat belt buckle.manufacturer has lifetime seat belt warranty but will not honor the warranty because they claim that the switch is part of the air bag system and not part of the seat belt.so my wife and daughter has to drive a car with no air bags because honda/acura will not honor their warranty.should be a recall on this, as it is a common problem.

The car has developed huge cracks around the passenger side airbag. Iam concerned that the cracks might cause my passenger side airbag not to work properly. The driver's side leather seat also begin to come apart.

Serious vibration in 2004 acura tl.vibration in the steering, seats and floor pan.replaced and rebalanced the tires three times.the vehicle vibrates between the 52 and 58 mph regardless of gear selection. The consumer stated that the vibration is so annoying that he avoids that particular speed range.michelin xgt z4's were installed on the vehicle and the vibration continues. The consumer requests information on what to do before initiating the lemon law process.the consumer was told that this problem will most likely cause premature wear of various suspension components and tires.*tc

Simply driving down the highway when the passenger seat side airbag deployed. Car has not been in an accident and did not hit a pothole. Research online finds this to be a common problem, but acura does not appear to be concerned. Airbag explosion alone was loud enough to almost cause an accident due to the scare.

My leather on my front seats are falling apart. I called acura home office and was told to take the car to the dealership.i have taken the car to the dealership and they said there was nothing that they could about the problem. I only have 60k miles on the car and it is garage kept . I bought the car new and it has been serviced at acura of pembroke pines.

There is a water leak under the right rear passenger seat that has caused the bottom of the seat cushion to be covered in mold.the water leak is a known condition with the '04 tl that acura has documented in their april 2005 service news.acura has been aware of the issue for at least 7 years and has done nothing proactive to correct it even though it's a simple fix.i'm confident that the long term exposure to the mold has caused me the sinus and lung/asthma problems that have been plaguing me for the last few years and that began shortly after i purchased the car and never connected to the car even though i have undergone a variety of testing from different doctors.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that while turning the vehicle on, the vsa warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was turned off and restarted; however, the vsa warning indicator remained illuminated followed by the illumination of the abs warning indicator. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vsa module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,220.

I had to slam on my brakes today to avoid hitting a car. The abs kicked in like it should and i heard the clicking of it going on and off. I stopped in time but noticed when i step on my brake now, it goes about half way down before they start to engage. Ii did a search and found the following tsb 07-041. This is a safety issue! honda is recalled the odyssey vehicles for the same issue. It is a known issue in 2004 through 2006 acura tl and no action is being taken.this is the second instance at 64000 miles.the first instance was at 25,792 miles (03/10/08) and acura replaced the vsa modulator.various online blogs report others having the same issue.

Several time my right brakes have completely locked up for a few seconds with no warning. This cause car to veer off to the right nearly causing an accident. This has happened multiple times and can be recreated.

Vsa/abs module failure. Abs, vsa and brake lights come on dash board. Told potential issue could be brakes could lock up so needs to be fixed.

The brakes on my 2004 acura tl have continued to be spongy and air gets into the system.i have spent over $1000 trying to fix the brakes and they keep getting spongy within a day of being bled.my mechanic did a seach and found the following tsb.http://www.in.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/sb/b07-041.pdfthis is a safety issue!honda is recalling odyssey vehicles for the same issue.it is a known issue in 2004 through 2006 acura tl's and no action is being taken.i called acura and they said that they have no current plans for a recall.

2004 acura tl at has soft and spongy brakes.braking seems useless under hard-braking conditions.it all started when i had to hit the brakes to avoid hitting road debris, abs went into action and the car stopped in a dime, however, a few days after the event, i noticed the brakes getting spongy and soft.i went to get my brake pads and rotor changed along with a brake fluid change.it worked fine for a week but then it went back to soft and spongy. I had a situation where i had to brake hard for a beautiful l.a commuter who cut me off and there was almost to pressure whatsoever on the brakes, no abs, no tire screeching, it just glided to a stop.i knew something was wrong.i took it to the dealer and they found out it was the vsa modulator, which was injecting air into the brake lines ever so often. Apparently it happened when the abs kicked in, they said it would have faulted the vsa system.the part was replace under warranty, but that's because i purchased an extended one from acura.i afraid there are other tls with the same issues having to pay close to 2000 dollars for parts that are so critical and yet defective.

Instructions in the acura oem service manual for my 2004 tl has an error that could result in the front disc brake pads being installed incorrectly on cars with the manual transmission option.this could cause the brakes to work incorrectly.advice i have been given by acura customer service in torrance, ca and my local acura dealer about the correct installation direction are in direct opposition.

The vsa (stability control) system on my 2004 acura tl malfunctioned.the system would cause the right front brake to activate by itself, causing the car to severly swerve to the right.after a half-second or so, the vsa would disengage and the fault indicator would lite up on the dashboard.the acura dealer was unable to diagnose the problem because vsa fault codes are not stored in the vehicle's memory after the car is restarted and the system automatically resets.this resulted in having to continue to drive the car until the fault re-occured.eventually, when it happened again, i was able to take the car directly to dealer and they were able to diagnose the car (because we left it running so as not to clear the code).the problem was traced to a yaw rate sensor in the vsa system.acura should make this information available to dealers. This poses a serious safety problem at highway speeds and there is nothing a driver can do to predict or prevent when this problem will occur.since my sensor was replaced, the problem has not happened again.

I had to break for a cat running in the road to a heavy and complete stop. It caused the one of the front brake pads to melt and now are harden and don't stop as well and makes a heavy grinding noise. Took to dealer and they said its ok just to brake hard a few times and will clear the pad. I have tried this and the nose is getting worst. I feel that the car in emergency stop will cause the brake to fail or melt do to the higher friction. Pad dose not seem to be soft but hard now. The car may not be able to stop in emergency stop once pads heat up. The acura will not fix the issue because they don't see it as an issue.

The contact owns a 2004 acura 3.2tl. While driving in reverse with pressure applied to the brake pedal he heard a grinding noise.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where he was informed that there was a hard spot on the front passenger side brake pedal which would wear down over time and the grinding noise would no longer persist.over time the grinding noise became progressively worse. The vehicle was taken back to the same authorized dealer where he was informed that the front passenger side brake pad had worn through and destroyed the rotor. All of the brake pads and rotors were replaced by an authorized dealer.a few years later, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that all of the rotors were warped and undersized according to regulation. An independent mechanic replaced the rotors. The failure mileage was 38,500 and the current mileage was 95,000.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl.while driving approximately 55 mph on normal road conditions, the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was depressed.several attempts were made before the vehicle finally came to a complete stop.the stopping distance was increased.the failure occurred spontaneously.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and the contact was informed that the master cylinder was the cause of the failure.the vehicle was not repaired.the vehicle is in the process of being taken to an authorized dealer for repair.the vin was unable to be entered into the system.the failure and current mileages were 73,000.

Ongoing problems went to dealer told was fine. Experience leaks and noise issues was told no problem.back to dealer was told something wrong with steering rack , power steering pump and leak somewhere.vehicle had several recalls in past for same problems.

Steering pump hose leaks.i have tighted the clamp which stopped it for a while but it is leaking again and the hose looks to be deteriating.this vehicle is not part of the current recall.also the key gets stuck in the ignition and you cant get it out.have had the ignition replaced and it has happeed again.a search will find that this issue is also on the mdx.

While making a right turn the vehicle turned left on its own.the consumer applied the brakes, but the pedal went to the floor andthebrakes locked up on the vehicle.this caused the consmer to loose control of the vehicle and hit a curb.both driver's and passenger side air bags did deploy.the driver had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the driver that the control sensor solenoid switch needed replacement.please fill in additional information.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While driving approximately 60 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. The contact did not call the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The contact was advised to call the dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was 194,604.

2004 acura tl power steering fluid leak.dealer stated not related to recall regarding power steering hose problem which was apparently repaired under recall already. Acura dealer repaired power steering pump and charged over $600 for repair.felt like there was no power in steering, loud noise grinding when starting engine and for period while driving at beginning of driving each time.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While making a left turn, the steering wheel seized. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the power steering pump and the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v091000 (steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,000.

I had replacedthe steering hose for my 2004 acuratl more than 3 times because it is damaged and the power steering fluid was leaking which seem very unusual compare to other car that i know.

My 2004 acura tl had a recall on power steering fluid leak in spring of 2008 and in december of 2008 i had to get my car repaired for that reason and the acura dealer never reimbursed me for that expense eventhough it was a recall.

Problem with power steering hose leaking causing smoke underneath the hood. I read on acura website that there was a recall for the power steering hose leaking for 2004-2008 acura tl. I am experiencing this problem and read it can cause a fire underneath the hood.

The power steering leaks this issue is recalled on the new modles but not these and its the same part

The steering shaft assembly and control arms that connect to the tie rods, sway bars and links to cv axle and i beleive rack and pinion suspension came apart from the tires and caused me to lose control of my vehicle with my child as a passenger which resulted in an accident. We are both very lucky to be alive as we were in route to travel the interstate before this crash occured.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking power steering fluid and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the power steering hose had a leak and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v091000 (steering). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 174,000.

My vehicle is experiencing power steering leaks and there is a very loud whining noise when the car is started in cooler weather. I went to an acura and honda dealer and they noted there were no problems and the previous recall issue has already been fixed.this vehicle has had similar complaints and related recalls in the past as well as many other safety related issues and it seems acura and honda are simply unwilling to fix problems with their product unrelated to normal wear and tear. It would benefit consumers if this vehicle especially this year and model were more thoroughly examined by an independent third _party.

My power steering has gone out i think hose busted hard to steer and transmission is slipping reverse is going out

2004 acura tl with two recalls. Consumer states that he would like full reimbursement of the repairs he paid for on his vehicle, which were then recalled.the consumer stated due to the power steering fluid leak, the engine stopped working.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl.while changing the oil in the vehicle, the contact noticed that the seal on the power steering was damaged.it appeared as if the fluid was leaking.the dealer stated that although the failures were identical, the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 08v091000 (steering:hydraulic power assist:hose, piping, and connections).the manufacturer and dealer would not provide any assistance.the vehicle is currently being repaired.the failure and current mileages were 101,000.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl.the contact smelled burning oil while driving at an unknown speed.he pulled over and noticed smoke coming out of the hood.whenever the contact turns the vehicle, smoke entered through the vents and out of the hood.he examined the vehicle and noticed that the power steering hose was leaking fluid.the contact has not taken the vehicle to the dealer.the current mileage was 110,000 and failure mileage was 109,000.

Both mine and my friends power streeing pumps have gone bad right around the same time in our 2004 acura tl. Right around the 60k mark.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl which was purchased in may 2007. While traveling at speeds of 30 mph in under normal conditions, she could hear metal hitting the concrete. She noticed the front passenger's side tire was slanted outward. Her insurance company found the front tire rod failed and caused the tire to bend outward. There were no recalls for the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileages were 70,768.

My dashboard has developed a foot long crack on the passenger side. I have talked to acura office and only could file the case for me.acura needs to do something about it . Cause it's several acura tl with the same problem not just mine. I'm a very upset owner.

My dashboard is cracked all over the place. Acura will not fix it.

The dashboard is spiderwebbing with cracks, especially around the passenger side airbag.

I have a 2004 acura tl that the plastic dash is cracking around the passenger airbag. Apparently this is a very common defect due to the many owners of 2004 and 2005 tl owners with the same problem i've found on the internet. I, and my mechanic feel this could effect the deployment of the passenger side airbag, and is a potential safety concern.

I have owned my 2004 since 2011 and since then i have noticed my dash has been crackingmore and more have crack lines all over the dash i am not the only acura tl owner experiencing this issue.

Cracked dash in many places.

Multiple cracks on dash began on passenger side. New cracks developed over speedometer. Poor design of structural dash support is causing dash to fall apart. Unknown if this will compromise airbag function. One owner car has been garaged at home and often parked under cover at work - this is not sun damage. Acura will not pay for replacement.

Extensive cracking of dashboard cover, including near passenger side airbag which may cause dashboard pieces to becomemissiles in the event of deployment of this airbag. Acura has of this date not issued a recall or in any way that i know of accepted responsibility for this product issue.

2004 acura tl defective dash - it was noticed dashboard cracks especially one developed where the passenger air bag is supposed to deploy.it is requested to consider this as a safety hazard, because it can affect the deployment of this safety equipment in case of an accident.vehicle is parked most of the time inside a garage, so it cannot be explained why the cracks occurred.

I own a 2004 acura tl.car is now approximately 6 years young, and has developed two unsightly cracks in the factory vinyl dash pad; one small (near the center speaker), and one large!the large crack has developed, it appears, directly on the seam where the front passenger airbag may deploy (i assume because the vinyl material is much thinner here than elsewhere on the dash), and i am afraid this may be a safety issue in allowing the airbag to deploy properly upon frontal impact. This is unacceptable for a six-year-old vehicle, much less a luxury vehilcle such as this acura.from what i read online, there are many other owners experiencing similar or identical issues with their tl dash, and i believe it should be covered by a recall from acura.i trust this car to the ends of the earth, but am extremely disappointed with the workmanship and quality of this, my seventh (7th), honda/acura vehicle.i might understand a cracked dashboard if the car were 20 years old or more, but not from a vehicle only six years young!

Cracked dashboard along the area of safety airbag.

One day i got in the car and noticed a crack on the dashboard along the passenger side airbag.since then it is beginning to spread.

Crack on dashboard above passenger's side front airbags.runs entire width from windshield to glove compartment.dealers does not want to repair crack since the car is out of warranty.

2004 acura tl sedan dashboard cracks and splits around passenger airbag. Srs warning light becomes illuminated afterward. Concern over proper airbag deployment...sun visor was used and car is garage kept1. The events leading up to the failure, are normal operation of the vehicle.2. The failure is a cracked dashboard3. What was done to correct the failure--i would like acura to repair the problem.

Dealer maintained.

Bought this car in the dark.next morning i discovered the entire dash on both sides is split.i don't have another 10k to spend on a vehicle but am terrified of driving in it with my children as the airbag seems to be where the spreading started.please help!!!!

Airbags are about to blow thru the dash. The airbag light stays on most of the time and the dash is cracking really bad around the dash. The crack started just around the airbag cracking the perfect shape of the airbag. Now it is cracking all around the airbag. Seems as tho the airbags could come out at any time.

The dash started to crack around the passenger airbag and has continued to get worse over the years. The entire dash is cracked at this point.this is a know acura issue that they refuse to address in mass but have assisted many owners in varying degrees.

2004 acura tl with huge cracks in dash around airbags. Car has been garage kept and totally babied. Dash needs to be replaced. Not sure the airbags will work properly if needed.

Dashboard crack near airbag.

2004 acura tl dashboard cracked in three (3) different areas above the passenger side airbag. I have done some research and found that acura has identified this as a defective part, but is not willing to replace it without the owner paying for a good portion ($800 to a $1000). Yes, this is a defective part and it has occurred on countless 2004 acura tl's, my number one concern is that this a safety hazard. I'm concerned with the passenger side airbag deployment now that the dashboard is defective. I no longer let anyone ride in the front seat of my perfectly good vehicle because i'm concerned for there safety. I think a little operational risk management needs to be applied to this situation and acura should be required to fix this defective part via recall. I should not in anyway be required to pay ($800 to $1000) so i can feel safe to let someone ride in the passenger seat again. Another concern is if and when replaced are these dashboards exactly the same? very respectfully.

Cracks in the dash of my 05 acura tl that developed where the passenger air bag is supposed to deploy and may have the potential to affect the deployment of this safety equipment in case of an accident and, therefore, should be considered a safety hazard.

My dashboard has a huge crack coming down on the passengerside airbag. I also have 2 new cracks on top of the speedometer running up towards the windshield. The cracks seem to be getting bigger as time passes by.

While i was driving, i heard a buzzing noise. I turned to my passenger side to realize my dashboard airbag was cracking! this needs to be recalled!

Dashboard crack around the passenger airbag in my 2004 acura tl.no accidents yet but worried about possible injury or air bag deployment due to this condition.i understand this is a common problem with the 3rd generation acura tl series.

Dashboard developed 9 cracks in one day.several cracks run across the passengers side air bag.may be a safety issue along with defective parts.

Dashboard cracked around area of airbag.

I noticed a couple of cracks on my dash. Since i noticed them there had become additional cracks. After doing research i discovered this is a very common problem for this make and model and the cracks occur in the same spots. The biggest concern if the crack over the passenger side airbag.

Acura tl 2004 - there is a crack on the dashboard above the passenger's airbag which runs from the windshield all the way down to the glove compartment.reported it to the dealer and service center and didn't want to replace it since there was no formal recall issued by acura and the car is out of warranty.i have safety concerns related to the proper operation of the airbag due to this situation.

The dash just always had a line in it. It looked as if it is where the airbag is. And now it just started to crack.i'm just not sure if it is a safety hazard or not and if the airbag will still work.

My 2004 acura dashboard cracked in several places.it is a known 2004- 2005 tl issue but there is no recall.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the dashboard that surrounds the air bag was cracked and has become progressively worse over time. The air bag light illuminated immediately after the dashboard displayed a small crack. The dealer stated that the vehicle should be fine, but the contact was concerned since the crack was on the passenger side air bag. The failure mileage was 86000 and the current mileage was 88000.

Small crack started at center of dashboard near the window. In 1 day it has wrapped almost completely around the drivers side of the dashboard and is nearly 2 feet long now. My 1989 honda accord had a better looking dash after 23 years. This is a major safety issue and needs fixed asap by acura.

There is no incident to my knowledge but i would like to prevent an incident from happening before it does.2004-2005 acura tl dash will crack where the passenger airbag is to deploy.these cracks could affect the deployment of the airbag in a crash and cause permanent damage to the passenger of the car.i would not know the exact number of affected people but there is a group on facebook with over 30 cases reported, not to mention the amount of cases not reported yet.

Dashboard has developed deep, long cracks in a square surrounding the passenger side air bag.manufacturer should recall this extremely common safety problem immediately.

Several dashboard cracks along the passenger airbag and all over the dash. Concerned as it is causing the airbag sensor warning light to be engaged. This can be a potential hazard as the airbag my fail in a collision or engage and release at any moment.

Recently my 2004 acura tl dash started cracking spontaneously over the driver side instrument panel. I have read of other complaints of cracks over the passenger air bag as well, documented at http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=730775.i feel that this is a dangerous safety hazard and is a defect of acura 2004 tl.acura has refused to cover repair because vehicle is out of warranty and because previous owner lived in fl.

Two parallel cracks in my passenger dashboard along the sides of the airbag.started with one crack and then 6 months later another crack appeared.concerned about the safety and deployment function of the airbag if an accident were to occur.

I currently own a 2004 acura tl and the dash board has cracked on drivers side, the cracks are shaped like a t an are approximately 6 inches in length. Acure should replace this defective dash board.

2004 acura tl dash began cracking over passenger side airbag at 100k miles, now at 140k dash is cracked in multiple places - serious safety risk and faulty equipment.

Dash started to crack around the airbag housing.took the car to the dealership they stated it was due to the sun and it was not covered under warranty.i expressed my concerns that it would effect the deployment of the airbag, acura service stated it would not effect the airbag.the dash is now cracked on both sides of the airbag housing and continues all the way back towards the windshield.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that there was a crack above the passenger side air bag and he could see the air bag imprint. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that he would have to repair the vehicle at his own expense. The current mileage was approximately 103,000. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. Updated 06/24/11 updated 2/03/2012 *ln

Dashboard cracked on passenger airbag and know has started cracking all over dashboard in a matter of a day, acura should be responsible for this as this car has been maintained by acura for the life of the product.

2004 acura tl has cracked dashboard. Crack first appeared after dealer serviced vehicle for speaker sound distortion. Crack spread from center dash speaker to above instrument panel behind steering wheel.

Dash board is cracking around airbag on right side and directly behind steering wheel.

I noticed a large crack on my dashboard in front of the passenger seat and it appears to outline the airbag.there are two small cracks on the dash as well.my concern is whether or not these cracks make the deployment of my airbags defective in the event of a collision.

My 2004 acura has a dashboard that has cracked around the airbag.i have used a sun cover and parked in shaded spots, never leaving the dash in the sun.i am concerned about the cracking because it is involving the airbag and i am worried the airbag will not properly deploy in the event of a crash.or that the airbag may deploy unneccesarily and dangerously while i am driving.

Dashboard is cracking significantly around passenger side air bag and also in front of drivers seat.

2004 acura tl - dash has a 2' crash on the passenger side running top to bottom and into srs airbag area.crack started at 90, 000 miles.dealership acknowledged problem but since car is out of warranty wants $580.00 to fix.this crack may seriously affect airbag deployment on passenger side.

Acura tl 2004 cracked dashboard over air bag and multiple other spots. I am very concerned this could cause issues with the airbag. I was informed by a dash board repair man that he could not fixes the cracks over the air bag. He state it would not be safe for him or if the air bag deployed. Acura should have to replace the dash board on the 04 acura tl's. I have done research and there are a whole lot of people who have had this issue. There is even a facebook site where people who have had this problem have signed up. I call acura about this defect and they told me it was not there problem or fault. I could pay to get if fixed for over $2,000.00. They also stated that there is no proof that it could cause the air bag to deploy.

A few months ago my 2004 acura tl dash started cracking around my airbag on my dash. I feel that this is a dangerous safety hazard and is a defect of acura. I have noticed that there are many other 2004 acura tl's that have the same problem and i am wondering what is going to be done to resolve the problem.

2004 acura tl dash has been cracking to pieces from the left and right side.

My dash is cracking at a accelerated rate. First at the passenger airbag, now over driver side. My concern is if the dash is dry enough to split along the airbag seams, then what would prevent shards of dash flying off if the airbag deploys? the should get some serious safety considerations.

2004 acura tl cracked dashboard in several places including airbag cover.

Dashboard has started cracking from 85000 miles onwards. Now by 124000 miles, the dash has so many cracks that i am worried that the airbags may pop out anytime soon. This is a big safety concern.

Cracks in dashboard above passenger side airbag began appearing just outside the warranty period.cracking is severe and could impare/cut the airbag on deployment.

Crack in dashboard--although reasonable care was used to protect dash from such damage...sun visor was used and car is garage kept1. The events leading up to the failure, are normal operation of the vehicle.2. The failure is a cracked dashboard3. What was done to correct the failure--i would like acura to repair the problem.

Acura tl (2004) dashboard cracking in multiple places, but particularly around passenger airbag.possible interference with airbag deployment, dangerous dash fragments during deployment and driver distraction dueto cracks.

2004 acura tl sedan dashboard cracks and splits around passenger airbag. Srs warning light becomes illuminated afterwards. Concern over proper airbag deployment. Updated ivoq 11/09/10

In 2010 i took my tl in because my dash was showing cracks in it, acura rep told me that they were aware that owners of other tl 's were complaining about it too. But he told me there was nothing he could do. As of today 08 11 2014 i have 11 big cracks in it. Acura needs to recall them and fix this.

Dashboard cracked where passenger airbag is located.on the internet, seeing a high frequency of complaints.concerns are the airbag may not work correctly now.

The dashboard on my 2004 acura tl has cracked in multiple location. The cracks go vertically from the winsheild to the other edge of the dashboard..

My acura tl 04 dash started cracking and spread quickly like a disease. The cracks are all over my dash, right left - to top - over the speakers, passenger airbag, etc. For this expensive of a car this is ridiculous!i cannot believe there is not a recall and for cracks all around the airbag, i would think that would be a safety hazard! acura should be doing something about this!

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl.the contact stated that the dashboard was fractured in the area where the air bag was located.the dealer advised the contact to replace the dashboard. The manufacturer had not been notified nor was the vehicle repaired.the failure mileage was unknown.

The entire dash of my acura has cracked and the cracks are everywhere.over the air bags, near the air bags....everywhere!! what is going on!?

The dash has developed a crack around the passenger side airbag. I am concerned that should an accident occur the airbag may not deploy correctly.

The interior of the car is literally falling apart.dashboard has severe cracks throughout, cupholder cover broke, rearview mirror liquid caused vision problem, arm rest broke, and now the foot rest broke!i take care of my vehicle as attested to by the dealer.unfortunately, not one of these problems was a surprise to the service tech!!!!

The dashboard has cracked around the airbag area potentially compromising airbag deployment.

The cracks around passanger side airbag.the air bag light has been on since the first crack appear.the cracks are on all over the dashboard.some chipping started now.i have taken to the dealer many times and i was told there is no issue but couldn't clear the light.the car is always parked in garage and under canopy at work.

2004 acura tl has developed 2 large cracks over the air bags in the dash board of my car. I am concerned not only about the appearance but my safety in the event of an accident. Will it deploy properly or will it go off on its own while i am driving down the road?

Cracked dashboard on an acura tl 2004 i feel it may crack along the airbag causing it to deploy.

I purchased my 2004 acura tl from autoland usa in selden, ny on april 5th, 2016. The vehicle is in great shape. No torn seats, interior issues or any other visible issues at time of purchase. Just about 2 weeks ago, i noticed these cracks forming on my dashboard. I know this to be a manufacturers defect due to the overwhelming complaints on quite a few message and complaint boards and websites. I need to know what will acura do to fix this issue. This is definitely not a wear and tear issue, because i also have a 1992 honda accord in my driveway, that still has a perfectly intact dashboard and the accord is much older than this acura. I have attached a few pictures to confirm my claim. Thank you.[xxx]unsatisfied customerinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

Upon entering my car in the driveway to go to work on january 17th 2013, i noticed that the dashboard had a crack from the windshield to the glove compartment along the passenger side air bag. This crack was not there previously. The following day, i noticed several more cracks above the gauges and around the speakers on the driver's side. The car is meticulously maintained, weather protected (garaged), and driven very few miles. This condition must be a defect in the workmanship and quality of the cars' dashboard that acura should resolve. I have never seen another manufacturer's car have issues like this.

There are some crack on the dash board due to bad material.

Walked out to my car one morning and found my dash to be cracked. A big crack in the center. The car is a 2004 model, but i owned a 1984 car and the dash never cracked. There are a lot of the same complaints online with the same model of car and year. This is a manufacture defect and needs to be recalled.

A few months ago i noticed a small crack on thedash of my 2004 acura. That small crack has progressed to a large one and joined by two others. The cracks are on the passenger side directly over the airbag. This makes me concerned that the airbag may not operate properly if needed. It also makes me wonder if the crack was not caused due to a defect from the airbag. The vehicle is garage kept and is shaded when exposed to the weather. There is no other reason for the crack other than a defect in the product (airbag or dash). I would hate to get in an accident only to find out that the protection i paid for did not work.

2004 acura tl dashboard has 2 large cracks that appeared in the last 7 days.one is about 14" long and runs from the area of the glove box/air bag all the way towards the windshield.

I love my tl but i am totally disappointed with the dash on my 2004 acura tl.i have had cars that had similar dashes and they never cracked!this dash has already cracked in 3 places.one crack runs from the windshield to almost the top of the glove compartment.this one makes me uneasy every time i drive the car because it runs alongside the passenger airbag.the other cracks are smaller but nevertheless they are there.i don't think this is acceptable for a car i paid so much for.acura needs to step up and recall these cheap dashboards.

Cracks in the dashboard area by the airbags.

Hello,i have a 2004 acura tl with 109,800 miles on it. Within the past three weeks, three large cracks developed on the dashboard.one is directly over the steering wheel and the other two are on the passenger side over the airbag. My concern is that the cracks will continue to spread and deploy the airbags causing a safety hazard. I purchased the car in june 2008 with 60k+ miles. At the time of purchase there were no cracks on the dashboard. I've always taken various steps to protect it from the texas sun. It's always parked in the garage, always used a sunshade up when parked outside, and always vented the sunroof and windows when it is hot outside. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Thank you

I recently noticed two large cracks that appeared in the dashboard on the passenger side above what i believe to be the airbag compartment.one day they were just there and were not the result of an accident.i have not taken the vehicle to the dealer, as there is more than enough written about this problem to know what the answer will be.this appears to be caused by inferior materials and poor engineering used in a high end vehicle.it's embarrassing for acura to say the least.i have a 1989 toyota supra and the dash is in perfect condition, so i don't want to hear "normal wear and tear", that's bull.acura needs to step up to the plate and be accountable.as others have stated, there could also be links to air bag failure or pre-mature deployment, which would be a much more serious issue.we pay a significant price from our hard earned dollars for these upscale vehicles.we should not have to pay for acura's choice to use cheap material and poor designs.now is the time for the consumer protection industry to step in and take action since the individual is left to the mercy of the manufacturer.

The dashboard is cracking at the passenger side, right where the air bag is located.i am concerned it would cause the air bag to not deploy correctly.

I recently purchased a certified acura tl after two months of having the vehicle the dashboard has cracked in two places on the driver's side.i explained this to the dealership and they said it is not covered under warranty.i do not feel it is safe to drive in this condition due to the air bag.acura should recall the dashboard, as there are numerous complaints that they have been ignoring.

2004 dash board is cracking on the passenger side located above the air bag.

Got into my car and noticed my dashboard cracked in two places!!this is wrong!!acura should take accountability for this!!!

Crack on dashboard on passenger side airbag. There has been no accident. Dealer will not fix it as there is no warranty left.

Dashboard on my 2004 acura tl is cracking around the airbags, feel very unsafe about it being deployed.acura has mentioned on the phone it is not their problem.however after reading various other owners complain about the same issue this is not a one thing, this is a defected automobile and i will not have my children or my wife or anyone that rides with me in that car sit in the front seat.

My acura tl 04 dash started cracking and spread quickly to rest of the area. The cracks are all over my dash, right left - to top - over the speakers, etc.there were no accident involved. Car is part outdoor without cover.

While cleaning the inside of my 2004 acura tl, i noticed that the dashboard over the passenger airbag was cracking. The cracking is in a symmetrically rectangular shape directly over the airbag.i checked with acura and they claim that there is no recall or market action regarding this defect. I then googled "acura cracked dashboard" and was astonished to find many other owners with the same problem and acura claims no liability for this defect.i am concerned that the cracking may manifest as has happened with other complaints i saw on the internet.not only is this unsightly, but from a safety standpoint, the continued cracking may compromise the integrity of the dashboard, ultimately deploying the airbag unnecessarily.although the representative from acura told me that they have received numerous other complaints, they refuse to acknowledge that this is a manufacturer's defect and only said that i should take my vehicle to an acura dealer and self-pay for any repairs.with the numerous complaints, this is obviously a systemic problem and should require acura to pay for any repairs before an injury occurs.i did see another market action involving acura and honda airbags but acura states that this is unrelated to the cracking of the dashboard on the 2004 acura tl's.

Outline of passenger airbag has appeared as a crack in the dash on my 04 acura tl. It has 63000 miles and was bought as certified.

A 14 inch crack in dash which runs along the passenger side air bag.

Goodnight!!

My wife drives the car on a regular basis.on 5/21/12 she advised a crack @ 2" had developed on the passenger side dash over the air bag.on 5/22/12 the crack had enlarged and is now @ 4" long.

2004 acura tl - 56,000 miles.completely cracked dashboard around the passenger side airbag.i am worried about my passenger's safety as the cracks look as if they could interfere with the airbag deployment.

We purchased a 2004 acura tl from a local owner.after we purchased the car, the dashboard started cracking everywhere!there are probably over 15 cracks in the dashboard. I called acura & they told me i wasn't a loyal customer & the car is too old!they said it would be around $1700 to replace the dashboard & they would charge me $1300!!! very nice of them, right!wrong!!!! i sent a letter to the vice president of acura along with many other people to the headquarters. There response was still the same!i also sent them pictures of the cracked dashboard & it just keep getting worse. Who else can we file complaints with? my 2005 acura tl dashboard cracked as well but they replaced it free of charge saying they hoped to earn my business.when my 2005 acura tl paint faded al over the car, they would not touch it!they said it was because i lived in north carolina!!and, i wasn't a loyal customer because i have only owned 3 acuras!!!

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag panel, on the dashboard, was split open where the air bags were visible.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated the vehicle was manufactured in that manner and it was not under recall. In addition, the dealer could not confirm that if the vehicle was involved in a crash that the air bags would deploy. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised that they would pay a percentage of the repair costs. The failure mileage was 64,000.

The dashboard on my 2004 acura tl has recently started to crack, starting small and growing in several places. Checked acurazine website to find over 44,000 like complaints. Most start above the passenger airbag starting from the windshield to the top of the glove compartment.

2004 acura tl - dashboard cracked in several places and still spreading.car has less than 47k miles.noticed first crack earlier in 2010 near the center speaker on the dash.it spread all the way to the front windshield then across and over the gauges.just noticed another crack 2 days ago, but this time its on the dash right above the passenger side airbag.researched the issue and found that hundreds of others have the same problem in the exact same places.thought about having the cracks sealed at an upholstery place and then covering the dash with a cover because its so unsightly, but called the local acura dealer and they said it wasn't a good idea because it might affect how the airbag deploys in a crash.so far their solution is to bring it in and speak to a factory rep.they may be able to replace it at a percentage of the cost, but it will still be expensive.it is an obvious and known defect, but when i called acura corporate customer care and told them about the cracks they said they had never heard of this problem before.something isn't right here...

2004 acura tl sedan dashboard cracks and splits around passenger airbag.srs warning light becomes illuminated afterwards.concern over proper airbag deployment.

Overnight my dash board has significant cracks this car has been garage kept and apparently many 04 and 05 acura's have this issuelooks terrible and dealer wants 1500 to replacei think a recall is in order from acura/honda i am so frustrated now ... Almost want to get ride of this car because of this problemdon't know where to turn for help.

2004 acura tl with a cracked dashboard.

I noticed a large crack on the passenger side dashboard running along the left side of the airbag compartment, we haven't had any accidents or anything that would cause this, i had the car inspected by the dealership where we purchased the car (new) in 2004 and i was told it was considered a cosmetic problem and that it would not interfere with airbag deployment...also to replace the dashboard would cost $1200!i personally feel that acura should be forced to issue a recall and replace the dashboard before someone dies because the passenger-side airbag either deploys wrong or not at all!

I found a crack on the dash on the driver's side coming front to back approx 18 inches and then spreading sideways for over 2ft. I called acura and they say its not covered because its considered wear and tear and that it'd cost approx $2000 to fix. Other people have complained and there's forums of people with the same model and year with the same defect at https://www.facebook.com/acuratldefectivedash and https://www.facebook.com/groups/acuratldashgroup/

1. Spontaneous cracks in the dash around the passenger air bag unit.2.air bag warning light on3. Spontaneous crack in dash near steering column.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl.the contact stated that the dashboard exhibited a crack, causing the air bag warning light to illuminate.the dealer inspected and diagnosed that the dashboard was cracked as a result of hotter temperatures and caused the air bag sensor to malfunction. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did assist the contact with repairs.the failure mileage was 92,000 and the current mileage was 104,000.

The dashboard started cracking and keeps getting long where the airbag is on passenger side.

The dash has cracked in 15 lines throughout the whole dash.it started around the passenger airbag and continues to get worse.i contacted the dealer and acura directly. They continue to deny that there is a flaw in the craftsmanship.

Dash board driver to passenger side many large long cracks. Acura tl owners get no responsefrom acura motor company on this defect.

2004 acura tl dashboard is severely cracked in several places.

Dash on passenger side of 2004 acura tl cracked exactly as depicted on many sites afecting owners of such make & model. This is a failure consistent with its mfg year and should be repaired under warranty.

Acura tl 2004 cracked defective dash.

I drive a 2004 acura tl and around september of 2010, my dashboard started cracking around the area where the passenger airbag is located.since then, the crack has spread and the dash has started cracking in two other places.i was in no accident around this time and always parked in the shade or in a garage.

Cracks on my r side of dash to r side of air bag noticed at about 100,000 miles and cracks have split all the way down.

The car has developed huge cracks around the passenger side airbag. Iam concerned that the cracks might cause my passenger side airbag not to work properly. The driver's side leather seat also begin to come apart.

Dashboard has cracked (~10+ inches) need airbag seem.crack is large.may result in high velocity debris during air bag deployment.may result in improper air bag deployment.

I got in my car yesterday after work, to find a crack over 6 inches long on the passenger side dashboard, near where the airbag would be located.apparently this is a very common problem.most are reporting more cracks appearing and the cracks growing longer in size.i assume my dash will do the same as everyone else's and become worse.i believe it is temperature/heat related (expansion/contraction) but is no fault of my own. Can you say recall!!!

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that there were two cracks on the dashboard by the passenger side air bag. There was not a light illuminated on the instrument panel but he was concerned the air bags would not deploy properly if involved in a crash. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for repair. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

A small crack developed on the dashboard on left side of the airbag. Over time, the crack has grown and another crack has developed on the right side along the airbag. Both cracks are of equal length running from the top of the dashboard down past the airbag.

2004 acura tl car was maintained and garage kept, dashboard cracks began forming close to the passenger side airbag and progressing closer to it.it requires work and parts totaling 1800$ to replace. As it is unrepairable.

Dash board passenger side air bags area and driver side 2 speaker cracked.

My dashboard has developed a crack starting from the drivers side extending to the passenger's side without a cause.the vehicle has not been involved in a motor vehicle accident and is worrisome to me.

Acura tl 2004 dash cracks over airbag area. All cars from that year with the same problem and the dealer didnt resolve.

I have a long 5 inch crack on my dashboard that covers the airbag. It appeared out of no where and that is a well known issue that acura is aware of but doesn't recall. It will get worse and im afraid it will affect the ability of the airbag deploying properly.

The dash has begun to crack and i fear it is going to weaken the dash where my air bags are located, resulting in a deployment.

The dashboard has started to crack on the passenger side of the air bag and is getting worse. I believe is a safety issue. The air bags didn't fail yet but concerned with the crack. I believe acura should pay to replace.

Multiple cracks in 2004 acura tl dashboard above the passenger air bag - seems like a possible safety issue for the deployment of the air bag in an accident as well as extremely upsetting seeing as how the car is only 6 years old. Car is garage kept.

Dashboard is cracking on its own, not due to normal wear and tear.cracks are over the passenger side airbag and other parts of dashboard.

The problem started with one split line on the left middle side of my dashboard.i thought nothing of it, because it looked like part of the unit.however, as time went by, more splits occurred in similar areas and is still continuing to spread across the whole dash .it has gotten progressively worse and when i contacted the dealer, because of the expired warranty, they want me to shell out over $300.00 for repairs.i have gone to other websites where consumers with my car had similar issues with their dashboard.i believe this to be a defect in the plastic which appears over time.my vehicle is garage kept and the dash is covered when parked in the sun.although, this is not a serious priority, acura should readdress the issue in good faith with it's customers.i know there must be many more consumers out there with the same problem.as a matter of fact, my neighbor has the same car and told me he has also acquired splits on his dashboard.

Cracked dashboard on 2004 acura tl.

The contact owns a 2004 acura 3.2tl. The contact stated that the dashboard became cracked where the air bag was positioned. The contact stated that the air bag could deploy at anytime without crashing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the dashboard would need replacing. The manufacturer offered to cover seventy-five percent of the repair cost but the contact declined. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 110,000.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the dashboard cracked due to defective material. The dashboard had an extensive fracture at the air bag area.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the defect. The dealer advised the contact that the fractured dashboard would not affect the deployment of the air bag.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.the vin was not available. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that a large crack developed on the dash board. As a result, the air bag became exposed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 98,000.

The top of the dash in my acura has many cracks that have developed to the point where i believe it my impact the air bag.minor cracks might be seen with time in the dash however these are large, numerous and obviously a manufacturing defect that should be fixed.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the dashboard failed and split in half near the passenger side air bag housing.the dealer was contacted and advised the contact that the dashboard failure was caused by wear and tear and was not considered a safety defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 94,000.

The dashboard on the passenger side has cracked. There are two vertical cracks over the airbags. I asked the dealership about replacing it and i was told it's considered wear and tear. I was quoted a price of over $1700 dollars. After looking into it on the internet i was amazed at how many people had the exact complaint. I was told by a collision shop that this is very dangerous if airbag mistakenly deploys. Many acura.owners have had the exact experience with the dealership unwilling to replace it. Can someone look into this issue? it would be greatly appreciated.

There are cracks appearing in the dash.one long one is next to the passenger side air bag and there are several others on the driver's side as well.they have severely decreased the appeal of the car and hence the value.i had a toyota corolla for 245,000 miles and there wasn't a single crack in the dash and no special care was given to the dash.acura should be embarrassed.i have seen pictures of other defective dashes from the internet and the cracks appear in the same places.this is obviously a design flaw or a material quality issue.

Cracks on the dashboard appear rapidly, starting by the passenger airbag location. First crack a week ago and now a another one......afraid that airbag could deploy or not deploy and according to many acura tl 2004 owners this is a very common and upsetting matter.

Dashboard cracks on right side area of air bag.

The vehicle is a 2004 acura tl.it is mainly garaged kept and well maintained.it has developed a large crack in the dashboard running from the windshield towards the passenger seat.it appeared one day for no apparent reason.the car has not been in any accident.there is an extended warranty on the car but they won't cover this.in my opinion, this is due to inferior materials and/or design and should be repaired by the manufacturer.what happens if there is an accident and the air bag deploys...will the cracked dash prevent the air bag from deploying properly?or will there be pieces of the dashboard acting as little missiles posing a threat to the occupants?

Dashboard cracked suddenly above the passenger airbag compartment exposing the airbag compartment to the sun through the crack.dashboard also deformed and appears to be sticking to airbag compartment around the edges on the top.the crack is growing. The crack initially formed suddenly while i was driving, and made a loud clap, which could startle drivers. I am concerned that the air bag could fail due to this defect and further cracks could form suddenly making startling noises while driving.the size of the crack and amount of deformation varies with temperature.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked over the air bag area. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. I bought a used 2004 acura tl. The dashboard crack is outlining the passenger side airbag. I'm trusting that this will not be a safety issue for any passenger if i ever get in an accident. I do not often drive other people, which frees me from worrying about repercussions.when i called acura's headquarters, the representative stated that he did not know that this was a widespread issue in this model and year. I've seen the group on facebook as well. The cracks are located consistently in the same area.

Large crack appeared on my dashboard today. I googled and found out there are thousands of acura tls having the same issue. But the manufacturer has not done a recall. I called acura client relations as well as dealer. They are not doing anything.the crack dashboard is a safety concern as the srs airbag sits behind that and can explode.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that there were cracks in the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the dash cover failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. My 2004 acura tl (5at) has a driveline vibration at 1500 rpms.i have replaced the tires at my own cost, but that did not resolve the issue.the dealer has no resolution for this issue, and acura care claims that they are aware of the issue but there are is no resolution planned.

During the month of december 2012, i noticed that my dashboard on the above the passenger side airbag started to split.the car was not in any accident, and i am the only individual who operates the vehicle.as of this date, one split have turned into two large splits on the passenger side that measure at about a foot each.additionally, i have noticed a smaller split in the dashboard now above the driver side.i took my vehicle to an acura dealer on 11/10/2012 (acura of manhattan) for routine maintenance and to also inquire about what acura is doing to fix the issue and replace my dashboard at no cost to me due to the design defect in their product.i do not want to wait until the airbag deploys and does physical damage to my passenger or myself because acura was negligent in their duty to ensure that they manufactured a part that would not fail and cause injury to passengers of their vehicles.this dashboard needs to be recalled as soon as possible.

Cracking dashboard.

My dash is cracking at an accelerated rate. First at the passenger airbag, then started sinking deeper that makes an obvious rectangle on my dash. My concern is if the dash is dry enough to split along the airbag seams, then what would prevent shards of dash flying off if the airbag deploys? this should get some serious safety considerations.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked on the passenger side of the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and an independent mechanic for inspection and they stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The failure mileage was 90,000.

I am writing about my 2004 acura tl and having a cracked dash and might have a safety issue concerning the deployment of the airbag.

The dashboard started cracking.now, it has cracks all over.passenger side and driver side.this may cause issue with the airbags.i looked on line and this is very common in 2004 tls.acura refuses to fix the issue.some have also experienced issues with their air bags due to the cracking.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact noticed that there was a long crack on the dashboard where the passenger side air bag was located. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that the passenger side dashboard had severely cracked around the air bag area. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated that a crack had developed across the dashboard. The contact was concerned that the failure would allow the air bag to deploy inadvertently and without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 98,000 and the current mileage was 123,000.

Several large cracks have appeared across the dashboard.it appears to be a huge complaint among acura owners.the largest crack runs over the passenger airbag raising the question of airbag integrity and function.such a widespread problem should be considered a manufacturer's defect and therefore be recalled and repaired by acura.

Two weeks ago, i notice a crack on the dashboard about 1 inch long. Today the crack is about 5 inches long (1/5/2010). I have extended warranty for the vehicle, but the they would not cover it because they said it is a wear and tear part. It is truly a defect, the vehicle only has 66,000 miles and nothing happened to the vehicle that would cause the dash board to crack.

Large crack in the dash on passenger side above airbag. It gets bigger every day especially when i turn the ac on after the dash has been hot from parking in the sun. The car is garage kept and not in the heat very much.

Cracked along side of the airbag. Two lines (on each side of the airbag) about 12" long. And there is also about 3 other cracks that randomly appeared! i won't buy another acura product if this isn't fixed and will tell everyone i know not to buy one! this was zero fault of my own and by the sound of it, it happens to a bunch of their dashes in this particular model!!

While drivingdriver noticed that the vehicle shook uncontrollably.driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer, andmechanicdetermined that all four tires needed to be balanced, and a wheel aligned.driver informed the mechanic that this problem still occurred, and hadnot been resolved.afterwards the mechanic told the driver that thisvehicleoperated as designed, and had a design flaw problem from the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl.the contact stated that every time he drives his vehicle at 50 mph, the vehicle vibrates and then stops.once the speed reaches 75 mph, the vibration becomes worse.he took the vehicle to the dealer twice, but they could not determine the cause of the failure.the current mileage was 46,000 and failure mileage was 500.updated 02-19-08

While driving between 52 - 58 mph steering column shakes violently.

Vibration at 50-55 mph.sometimes worse than others.can make car feel unstable.changing tires did not help.

Struts snapped on highway

The aftermarket ultra-power k500117 {#51210sepa01} (economy) ball joint represents a severe safety hazard. It can result in separation of the lower control arm. The jpg ultra-power k500117 {#51210sepa01} (economy) after failure shows the lower control bushing ripped from the llower control arm. Jpg beck/arnley 1027932 bushing close-up is identical design as the acura oem part. This bushing is pressed into the control arm from the top. From the factory, once the ball joint is in place, the retainer nut holds both the ball joint and bushing securely in the control arm. The factory flanged nut is larger than the bushing diameter as to ensure contact with the control arm underside.observe the nut in .jpg ultra-power k500117 {#51210sepa01} (economy)'s. It is a standard lock nut. The diameter is too small. It makes no contact with the control arm, but rather seats directly to the bushing. The bushing is only pressed in, and will eventually pull out. As can be seen in the after failure picture, there is no way the nut could hold the ball joint and bushing in place as acura (honda) designed it to do. Please look at the nut of the moog k500117 as an example of acorrectly designed ball joint and nut, and how the nut is flanged. This is the correct style nut as it will make contact with the lower control arm instead of only the pressed in bushing. It can be easily seen in the second picture that the nut is clearly smaller than the control arm bushing.order number 82540335 through rock auto was purchased on 4/12/2018. The ball joint, bushing and nut simply pulled out. The lower control arm is destroyed, as is the cv axle. Damage to the fender and fender skirt as well. It is fortunate this failure happened while turning into a parking lot rather than at highway speeds just moments before.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. After exiting the highway and pulling into a store parking lot, the vehicle was briefly parked. Upon restarting the vehicle and depressing the accelerator pedal, there was an abnormal noise and the vehicle was unable to be driven. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the lower control arm prematurely fractured, which caused the entire axle to fracture. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the axle, ball joints, and lower control arm needed to bereplaced. The contact was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11e022000 (suspension). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 200,897.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While driving 3 mph over a speed bump, the contact heard a loud abnormal noise and the front driver's side of the vehicle detached. The vehicle was towed to a storage yard. The contact inspected the vehicle and diagnosed that the ball joint had separated. The contact stated that this was not the first failure. The vehicle was also towed to jaggs auto service where it was diagnosed that the ball joint had separated. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 11e022000 (suspension); however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While driving approximately 10 mph and attempting to make a turn, a loud boom sound was heard from the front end of the vehicle. The sound caused the wheels to "move up and down". There was no warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred three times. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall and nothing could be done. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and repaired. The diagnosis and repair specifics were not disclosed. The failure mileage was unknown.

While driving at the speed of 50 or more mph the 2004 acura tl vibrates.the vibration could be felt in the steering wheel and front seat.the vibration was constant but varied in intensity depending on the road conditions.the vibration continued after three repair attempts.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the manufacturer had deemed the vibration a characteristic of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl.while driving 60 mph, the front passenger side ball joints snapped in half.the contact moved the vehicle over near the guard rails.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they repaired the front bumper and replaced the passenger side ball joints.the failure mileage was 79,000.updated 06/24/09. *ljupdated 06/26/09.

While driving the car on highway, right front ball-joint broke in half with no warning or reason.right front tire became perpendicular to the vehicle.wife and child were in vehicle with complete loss of control of vehicle. The ball joint was absolutely defective and acura refused to assist in repair, claiming no responsibility.i own 2 acura and will never buy honda again.

2004 acura tl. Consumer writes in regards to ball joint failure *tgwthe consumer stated he backed out of his driveway, stopped in the street and turned the steering wheel counterclockwise to drive up the street, when suddenly he heard a very loud metallic snap and the front end of the vehicle dropped to the ground. The passenger side front lower control arm ball joint had severed.the unsupported wheel then pulled the axle out of the transmission. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealer.

I was driving my 2004 acura tl on a recently repaved highway when the wheel fell off the axle without warning.there were no preceding noises or changes in handling.fortunately, i was able to pull off the road quickly and avoid injury.the car is still under warranty, so i contacted acura tlc service and was towed to the nearest dealer's referring auto body shop.acura evaluated the car, and the service manager told me that it would not be covered under warranty, and to file a claim with my insurance.the auto body mechanics and my insurance adjuster both felt that it should be covered under warranty.acura dealership was contacted by the auto body shop and asked to take a second look; they declined.i contacted acura client services and requested a regional service manager to evaluate the car.they declined. One week after the incident, acura client services made their final determination not to cover this incident.ultimately, the lower ball joint was found to have snapped without evidence of impact or wear and tear.it was repaired with a new lower ball joint, control arm, axle, tire, wheel, and front quarter panel at the expense of my auto insurance provider.

On january 4, 2008, while turning left from a stoplight in clifton park, ny, the right front wheel of the my 2004 acura tl broke loose and was no longer controllable. I was able to navigate/coast the car to the side of the road.the tow truck driver took the car to northeast acura.at the time of the incident, the car had 61,634 miles on it.i didn't hear from northeast acura for over a week.the service advisor (stephen wittek) verified that the ball joint had snapped and it had caused damage to the driveshaft.at this point i asked him if it was normal to only replace one ball joint.he said, normally, you're right.but the left side ball joint didn't show any wear at all.in fact, the right ball joint did not show any sign of wear either.it just broke - it wasn't actually the joint that failed but the suspension arm that held the ball portion of the joint.there was no sign of damage.it just broke.we've never seen anything like this.note the quotation marks.i called northeast acura again on friday, january 18, 2008 at approximately 3:00 p.m. To confirm that the service department would be open on saturday so that i could pick up my car.i asked the person to ensure they put the broken parts from the repair in my trunk.she stated that they had already disposed of the broken parts.i find it highly doubtful that those parts were not retrievable one day after the repairs were completed.in my subsequent dealings with acura of north america customer service, the customer service rep (kevin mccarthy) stated that it was my responsibility to request that the part be retained for inspection of material failure.they obviously knew it was material failure (see the quoted passage above) and failed to retain the part or report it to acura of north america.had this failure occurred at highway speed (i had just exited off i-87 north in a 65 mph zone), the results of this failure would have been far graver than the nominal damage to my car.

2004 acura tl right front ball joint broke in half.the consumer believed the incident happened because of a manufacturing defect. The dealer blamed the failure on after market rims that the consumer purchased, the business where the rims were purchased stated they were a proper fit for the vehicle.

Tire vibration.at about 50 mph, the tires cause the entire car to vibrate.this continues at all highway speeds and does not seem to go away.i have contacted acura several times and acura's engineers 'are looking into it'.

Due to vibration dealer dealer balanced tires on 7/21/04.vibration did not go away.dealer replaced all 4 tires on 8/26/04.vibration continued.

Dashboard around the passenger side airbag has cracked.concern around potential impact or deployment of air bag. Cracked occurred when vehicle was parked.

The dashboard is cracking around the perimeter of the passenger air bag.the car is typically garaged kept. It seems to be a manufacturing defect that should be rectified by the acura. I noticed many other third generation acura tl owners have had the same problem. Please see http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/doc-708135 andhttp://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/2004-acura-tl-c363363.html

Dash is completely covered in cracks. I feel like this can't be safe with the airbags underneath the cracks. Also, whenever a passenger is in my car the airbag light comes on.

Car turned off and would not start back.security light flashes. Will not change our of park. Engineers turns over but will not fire. Fuel pump will not come on.

The dashboard started to crack about a year ago and has continued to do so. Vehicle is maintained on a regular basis. Dashboard is continually treated with protective lotions, stored in a garage and parked in shade. There are now 5 cracks in the dash and i have found multiple owners that have experienced the same issue. This is a luxury car that has been well taken care of. I would consider this to be a recall issue.

My 2004 acura tl dashboard on the passenger side is cracked on both sides of the airbag.i am concerned for my safety and the safety of the passenger because of the position of the cracks could possibly deploy the airbag and cause injury.

Dashboard is cracked in multiple locations. Risk of airbag malfunction

My dashboard has two large cracks running the width of the dashboard, along where the airbags are supposed to deploy. No accident caused this defect.

Dashboard developed 9 cracks in one day.several cracks run across the passengers side air bag.may be a safety issue along with defective parts.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl.the contact stated that the recall notice was not received until seven months after the failure recurred.she was concerned of the length of time that it took to receive the notification in regards to the safety issue.the failure mileage and recall number were unavailable.

Dashboard suddenly developed multiple cracks. Cracks are spreading. Some located near air bags on passenger side. Very concerned that in the event of an accident, air bags may not deploy and/or dashboard will shatter during deployment increasing risk of injury

Dashboard starts to crack in the area around the passenger side air bag. You can see the shape of the air bag underneath the dashboard once the cracks start. The cracks continue to appear all over the dashboard out of no where.this vehicle has had no chemicals on the dashboard to clean it. The vehicle has been kept in a garage for a time away from direct sunlight. It has even happened on my 2005 acura tl that i also own. So this seems to be a problem with the 2004 and 2005 acura tl's.

Transmission is going out an a lot of people say after 200,000 miles acura tl the 2004 transmissions start to go out which mines is doing now what can i do this is a know problem with 2004-2006 acura tl

Dashboard cracking for no reason. Cracks are in many places and occur near the dash air bag which is concerning if it every goes off could send sharp pieces of the dash into myself or a passenger (wife, daughter). Photos can be taken if needed.

Got in my car one morning and noticed a huge crack on the dash of the passenger side where the airbag is. I feel this could be a safety issue and shows the lack of quality material used in cars. I don't feel that i should have to pay the expensive cost to repair this seeing as i've paid the expensive cost of the car. I understand normal wear and tear but this is ridiculous. There are cars that are way older than a 2004 that this doesn't happen to. Since this happened to my car and i have researched it, apparently this is a problem with alot of 2004 acura tls.

Cracked dashboard near passenger side airbag on a 2004 acura tl.

Dash is cracked in my 2004 acura tl and it seems this is a big manufacturing problem with this part on this vehicle since the majority of cars i've seen as well as mine are showing this problem that affect not only the interior cosmetic look of the cars but also the safety since it involves the air bags section that are protected on the dash. At least acura should give tl's owners a discount if a recall is not open for this problem.

I am the original owner, with an always garaged, 2004 acura tl that has adhered to a strict discipline of maintenance.but, the dash has accumulated 'numerous' cracks from side to side, with a 'prevalent' outline around the airbag on the passenger side. Every time i hit a bump in the road, i have no idea whether the airbag will deploy.i'm sure there are many, many drivers like myself with this concern with an unconscious distraction on this corrupted dash with an outlined airbag always in view.acura has assumed absolutely no responsibility for this factory defect. I complained through an official filing with acura client relations several years ago regarding this possible safety hazard, but of course, to no avail.as previously stated, i have kept up with all my vehicle's maintenance as prescribed, and havealways been diligent in using a dash shield. Upon review, you will find there are thousands of reports and concerns throughout the internet complaining about the same issue including frustration levels reaching threats of a class action suit.thanks for your attention to this matter.

A crack has appeared on the dashboard over top of the passenger airbag.worried about passenger safety and airbag effectiveness in the event of an accident.

My dashboard has multiple cracks resulting from no damage whatsoever.i have researched online and many other owners of acura tl models are seeing the same issue.i am concerned this will affect the airbag deployment system.

Cracks have suddenly appeared on the dash of the vehicle.

After approx. 104,000 miles my dashboard started to crack around the passenger side airbag.the crack is currently following the outlines of the airbag and as such is shaped like a backward "c", creating an outline around the airbag.it also appears that perhaps the airbag itself has dropped away from the dash as i can see what seems to be a modest depression in the dash revealing the area of the airbag.

As you can see, these aren't small hairline cracks, they are nasty a## long cracks all over. Each day the crack get worst and open. It dangerous because there is airbags under those dashboard.

Multiple cracks on the dashboard that are close to the passenger airbag on the front right hand side. Cracks also happen throughout the dashboard by the instrument cluster and the middle close to the windshield. Very bad material acura used to make these with. Should be a recall due to the safety issue with the airbag also.

Dashboard cracking severely around airbag sites. Worried that this could be a dangerous safety hazard to my passengers and or myself

Takata airbag: very wide crack in dash alongside the front passenger side airbag area. Did not realize so many others had the same concern. Toyota has acknowledge this concern and is replacing dashes and airbag assemblies at no charge to the customer.why won't honda step up and take as good a care of their customers?

At about 8 yrs ago, cracks started to appear around the passenger side aibag on top of the dashboard. The cracks have multiplied and lengthened since that time so that now they appear dangerously close to being incapable of restraining the airbag. I do not know why acura never issued a recall as i have seen numerous complaints from others with this same defect.this problem seems to be prevalent in acura tl models 2004 thru 2008.

There was no accident, my dashboard split where one of the airbags is located

Dash board cracked

Dash pad cracking around passenger side air bag.

2004 acura tl has a dashboard that has splintered.it started by the passenger airbag, now the complete dashboard is cracked.

There was no accident.the dashboard on my 2004 tl began to crack.i've had the car since 2008 without any problems until now.the dash is cracked in two places, one from the front all the way to the edge of the cover of the instrument panel.the other crack comes from the front up to the middle speaker.no further spread so far but am concerned that cracking will continue and spread after seeing so many complaints.the local dealership said that replacement would be expensive, around $2000.they suggested that i call acura customer service and see if they would do anything.that is my next step.

2004 acura tl engine cut off. Consumer also states that there was a throttle actuator malfunction.seems that the consumer is requesting reimbursement for repairs.a diagnostic test revealed the throttlebody was filled with carbon which caused the engine to stall and the vehicle would not respond to acceleration.

Driving along and power goes out. As if pops out of gear. But do not hear a popping into and out of gear. Then all the sudden pops back into gear. This is dangerous. High speed and then power goes out.

Intermittently while driving vehicle stalled.. When this occurred the engine died, and vehicle lost power steering. This made it difficult to steer the vehicle.dealershipserviced the vehicle 4 times for this issue, but was unable to provide a remedy because they couldn't duplicate the failure.

On case pe07060 with acura wipers. The fix acura provided simply does not work. My wipers stopped working for no apparent reason duringa storm (common in south florida). I almost got into a huge accident because i could not see. Thankfully i was able to pull over. The fuse is ok. When i took the vehicle to acura they told me that they were aware of the ongoing issue but since the re-call was done that i had to pay for them to "look at it" and really fix the issue instead of the patch that was done.

Fluid in rear view mirror that acts as anti-glare, liquefied and leaked out of mirror casing. Anti-glare capability no longer exists, making night vision via rear view mirror to be obscured by brightness of headlights of other vehicles, liquid also very viscous and difficult to remove.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While stationary, the rearview mirror developed a bubble that obstructed and distorted the view of the road behind. Acura north scottsdale in scottsdale, arizona was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall; therefore, the contact would have to pay for the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the four year warranty was out of date and that the repair would not be covered. The failure mileage was 58,500.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the windshield wipers were activated and then failed to operate. The contact continued to drive with caution. The vehicle was previously repaired under a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 08v092000 (visibility). The failure recurred a few years later after the repair. The vehicle had not been repaired for most recent failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

Rear view mirror began to discolor, changes colors, and continues to make various formations withinthe glass.additionally, the mirror has clouded.in researching the issue, internet articles and thedealers indicate that the mirror contains gas and fluids that diminish glare at night, but fails due toheat within the vehicle.if i do not remove and replace the mirror, the mirror supposedly will start to leak corrosive fluids onto theinterior portions of the vehicle and the mirror itself has the potential to explode. So, we have a known issue;a non-functioning rear view mirror; and a part that has the potential to injure vehicle occupants...

I was parked in an automatic carwash when my driver side airbag started dripping water on me. I'm afraid this could cause my airbag to deploy. I've also experienced crazy electrical issues intermittently that are not safe and i wonder if this is related. I also have a video if that is needed.

There is a defect in the magna donnelly rear view mirrors in most acura cars. I had a 2001 cl and the rear view mirror exploded and melted the console. Thank god i was not in the car at the time. Now i have just bought a 2004 acura tl and the mirror had already exploded and made melt marks on the console.these mirrors are defective and dangerous. How come acura can still put them in their cars? how come magna donnelly is still making them and noone has sued them? we need a class action suit for this asap!

2004 acura tl moon roof just flew off while driving on the highway.

Parked the car at night in the garage as it has always been since i bought the car new.car has always been pampered and has never spent time outside of a garage except for rare occasions visiting family out of town for the weekend. Even with that, the car maybe spends a total of 30 some odd days a year in time sitting in the sun.went to take the car out to the store the next morning and noticed a large crack going from the windshield towards the passenger seat across the air bag.the next day 2 more cracks appeared, and the next day an additional 2 cracks.for a car that had been beyond well kept and pampered, not to mention a 'luxury' car, should not be in this state.i have friends with acuras and hondas much older than mine that have spent their entire lives sitting outside in the texas heat and have not a single crack on the dashboard, yet mine which has lived a "sheltered" life has over 6 now.after much research on the web, i noticed i am not the only owner with this issue.what makes this more annoying is looking at pictures posted from other owners, the places where the cracks form and grow are almost nearly identical.this is completely unacceptable for this brand of vehicle and the fact that a recall or an offer form acura to replace this dashboards has not been made.one or two people having the issue can be over looked.hundreds of people having the same issue in the same locations is a defect.acura should be held responsible for this. I bought this car because of their reputation.now their reputation has no meaning to me.if i hadn't paid so much for the car to start with and the fact that replacing it would be ridiculous for a car that for the most part is still like new would be insane.

Windshield cracked while making a right turn onto a freeway.after inspection to the windshield acura said a small stone had nicked the windshield causing it to break.acura paid half the cost of replacement but i was still $330 out of pocket.after checking around with other 2004 acura tl owners im not alone.many owners are reporting broken windshields in the first few thousand miles.many owners believe that the problem is a sound barrier sandwiched in-between the two layers of glass.source acura-tl.com.

The contact owns a 2004 acura tl. While driving in rainy weather conditions the window wipers became inoperative without warning.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection.the failure was contributed to an electrical circuit shortage in the window wiper system motor.the vehicle was previously repaired according torecall campaign id number 08v092000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer:motor).however, the remedy repairdid not remedy the failure.the failure and current mileages were 95,098.

Driving along on i-10 in mobile, al on saturday evening.started raining, turned on the wipers and they worked for about 5 minutes, then returned to the off position and stopped working in middle of a rain storm.i almost had an accident trying to get off the highway to the shoulder.washer still works.changed the fuse, still not working.going to dealership tomorrow.

Driving to work in the rain this morning and windshield wipers stopped working.i had zero visibility and was in the flow of traffic on a four lane road.i have seen several of these complaints on the internet and think that this type of safety failure should be addressed by the manufacturer.

2004 acura tl with two recalls. Consumer states that he would like full reimbursement of the repairs he paid for on his vehicle, which were then recalled.the consumer stated due to the power steering fluid leak, the engine stopped working.

2004 acura tl windshield wiper motor recall notice. Consumer paid for the recall repairs and wants to be reimburse for the recall.*njthe consumer stated the windshield wipers stopped working.

The wiper motor failed during a heavy rainstorm on the interstate. There are other reports of similar failures reported on the acura tl owners site http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?=160666&highlight=wiper+motor.

2004 acura tl right front ball joint broke in half.the consumer believed the incident happened because of a manufacturing defect. The dealer blamed the failure on after market rims that the consumer purchased, the business where the rims were purchased stated they were a proper fit for the vehicle.

I have owned this car since april 2004 and have had trouble with front wheel balance since almost new. Every time i have requested dealer service they have diagnosed the problem as a bent rim.my wife drives this car and she has absolutely no recall of hitting any potholes. As a result of these failures i have real concerns about the strength and integrity of the materials used in the wheel design. Three rims have now failed in the 7 months i have owned this car and i'm worried about the safety of this vehicle.

A crack in the alloy wheel rim on the right front of my 2004 acura was associated with a loss of air pressure and loss of positive tire seal resutilng in the tire separating from the rim. My wife was able to retain control. An inspection by leith acura found no evidence of a puncture wound to the tire. The sidewall was deformed to the point that the tire was unuseable. Leith acura and acura client services refused to replace the rim and tire under the new car warranty. Acura insists that the rim was damaged as the result of a severe impact to the tire (pothole ??) and therefore not covered by the vehicle warranty. My wife reports experiencing no such impact either at the time of the incident or during any period preceding theincident. I assert that the crack was the likely result of a undetected defect in the manufacturing process and/or the particular materials used, and that it was the accentuation of the pre-existing crack associated with the 'impacts' of normal driving that causedthe tire to suddenly fail.the dealer asserts that there was observable damage to the rim, but is unable to determine whether such damage resulted in the crack or that the damage was the result of the rim having been weakened by the crack plus the impact of the rim with the road surface when the tire deflated.my unreimbursed cost for a new rim, tire, and alignment was $625. My concern is that this is an equipment problem, perhaps inherent to the use of alloy rims; that acura is aware of the problem (reports frequent similar occurrences) and that they simply refuse to honor claims for this type of equipment failure under the warranty. As a highway safety researcher i am concerned that this is a potentially serious crash risk problem over and above the problem of manufacturer and dealer integrity in honoring warranty claims.
