I have owned this car for 6 years and really like it. My problem is the passenger air bag light frequently lights up? it happens if the seat is empty, a purse is there or someone is sitting theret by the vin it is not suppose to be affected by the recall.

Airbag sign remained lit as i started driving from driveway into street.about 20 feet on the airbags deployed, i was engulfed by smoke, lost control and hit the telephone pole in front of my neighvbor's house.

For my acura tl 2001 we have been waiting over 6 months for the air bag to be replaced.the dealership and honda (called honda this week) will not even provide a date when the replacement air bags will be available.very poor as this is a known safety hazard and we don't feel safe driving this vehicle!

Takata recall.

I have been involved in two car accidents where i was hit from behind and my airbags did not deploy.in the second accident my car was totaled.

Acura fan motor stopped working. Upon inspection saw the connector from the fan motor melted inside. Its a sure fire hazard.

The wire and connector leading from the brake pedal position switch (on the brake pedal arm) into connector o on the under-dash fuse/relay box is damaged - seems like the component overheated. This resulted in complete brake lamp failure and shift lever locked in park.

The contact owns a 2001 acura 3.2 tl. The contact stated that when activating the air conditioner, no air would blow from the vents. Upon further inspection, he found that the electrical connector was melted and causing the failure. The contact repaired the vehicle by replacing the connector and blower motor. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.updated 9/27/11 the ac/heater stopped working. The consumer smelled an electrical burning odor. It was discovered the fan connector and fan had burned up. Updated 10/07/11

The contact owns a 2001 acura 3.2 tl. The contact stated that the key can be removed from the ignition without the shift being in park.removal of the ignition key when the gear selector in an automatic transmission was not shifted into the park position could cause the vehicle to roll away and cause a crash. The failurewas not diagnosed by a dealer nor was the manufacturer notified. The failure mileage was 118,000.

After rear-end collision (my fault on slick pavement, going est. 15 mph where brakes locked up and car skidded for at least 15-20 feet) the front end of my car simply had a dented front end and grill and left (driver's side) headlight.a few minutes later a small flame broke out around this broken headlight and the flame quickly grew before the fire engines could get there, w/in 5 minutes the entire engine area was on fire and the car is now totaled.the fire chief told me that he had never seen a headlight catch fire and then spread the way this did.i'm questioning whether this was a mechanical or electrical defect in this model of acura and whether i have a claim against acura.

The contact owns a 2001 acura tl. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle failed to shift from first to second gear as the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 04v176000 (power train). The failure mileage was 120,000.

Dt*:the contact stated while traveling 70 mph, without warning, black smoke appeared from under the hood and then the steering column.the vehicle was pulled over and it burst into flames.the fire department was called and extinguished the fire.the vehicle was towed to a storage lot, where the insurance company determined the fan motor failed causing the fire.the vehicle was deemed a total loss. Updated 06/19/06.

Various problems with the 2001 acura tl.bought used and has been in shop 6 or 7 times in less than one year.brakes, transmission replacement, master cylinder.brakes continue to seemingly have a problem...you have to almost go to the floor to stop, but dealership says this is normal on this type of vehicle.true or not-i don't know.also, the check engine light keeps coming on, also the abs and tc lights keep coming on.also, it does not make sense that my car now has 50,000 miles on it when i hardly go anywhere.it seems the odometer is very inaccurate.there is no way i have put 30,000 miles on this car since april of 2003.could not find any other information concerning the odometer issue, but was told by a mechanic that it's possible their could be a speed sensor issue in the transmission, which would also cause the check engine light to come on.*la

Vehiclestalled on a number of occasions. Took vehicle todealer, and dealer refused to look at vehicle.

Consumer called complaining about having problems with the engine. Manufacturer was conttacted, and stated that the problems was not covered by the warranty.

Consumer complained about engine problems. Stated that the engine blew out, and that neither the dealer or the manufacturer wanted to doanything about it.

I live in toledo ohio bought this car in michigan was on my way home when my cars wheels locked up scared me too death jerked back and forth in gear check engine lite came on tcs lite came on and d5 lite was blinking this car only had 82,000 miles i can not believe the government closes its eyes too all these complaints someone is going to get seriously hurt we need to sue acura for crap transmissions i mean come on and then for them to take advantage of hard working americans who trust honda is not rite at all someone is getting paid off is the only reason this issue hasnt been resolved and for the dealer not to do anything but want to give you another junk garbage transmission and charge you 3500 for the same problem to happen again is ridiculous we all need to file a lawsuit for this and they need to upgrade the transmissions to make them better and for the safety administration to turn a blind eye for a car that could lock up and kill someoneand not fine or make acura eat the cost for there screw up shame on you.

I spoke to a gentleman from the nhtsa on 2/6/13 who informed me that the recall pertaining to the 2001 acura tl transmission, 2nd to 3rd gear slippage that can result in transmission lockup and crash, is still valid through april of 2014, with no mileage restrictions and is to be replaced at the full cost of the manufacturer (nhtsa recall i.d. 04v176, acura recall i.d. P39). In an attempt to have a productive conversation with an acura client relations representative on 2/19/13, in hopes of having the transmission replaced as the vehicles transmission is deteriorating rapidly, i was told that the gentleman who i spoke with from the nhtsa was incorrect in the information he provided and that the recall has already expired. I would like the nhtsa to please contact myself and acura client relations, in writing, explaining that the recall pertaining to the 2001 acura tl transmission is still valid so that i may take the necessary steps in having the transmission replaced asap and avoid having a major incident as i fear for mine and my family's safety.

The contact owns a 2001 acura 3.2tl.the contact stated that the vehicle would not pull and began slipping gears.the dealer stated that the transmission was defective and they replaced it under warranty.on a separate occasion, the gears slipped again and the vehicle hesitated.the vehicle was no longer under warranty and the transmission was replaced at the owner's expense.the failure mileage was less than 9,000 and current mileage was over 200,000.

Few ways ago buy this car has only 84,300 miles ....while driving today suddenly malfunction sign comes and car slow down and making weared sounds... Go to advance auto part to scan the malfunction sign and after scanning no codes come but showing issue with transmission. So don't know where and how much its going to cost to fix or replace transmission. If anyone help me will be greatly appreciated. I live in ma ( western ma)

The transmission in my car is slipping at 2nd gear, as a result of which the rpm goes high but it doesn't match the speed of the road. The transmission as per the recall was fixed in the year 2004 , but the problem arose again and its hard for me to drive. The estimated cost of the transmission is 5k as per the dealer & the same has been reported to the acura customer care department but i haven't heard anything from their side. I would be highly gratified to see a positive response from your side.

My complaint is toward acura relations and devan acura of norwalk, ct regarding a serious transmission problem. My transmission has been diagnosed with having a hard shift/slippage from 2nd to 3rd gear, which is part of recall, i.d. 48580. This type of problem can result in transmission lockup, which could result in a crash. A case manager from acura relations explained over the phone that if problem is recall related, the cost of repairs would be covered. Unfortunately, even though devan acura of norwalk has determined that a hard shift/slippage from 2nd to 3rd gear exists, they never asked me what i felt comfortable doing, which my answer would be to replace the transmission, as it pertains to the recall, especially as promised by acura relations. Devan acura of norwalk performed a transmission fluid flush to try and resolve the problem, which did not improve the drivability of the vehicle, as a hard shift/slippage still exists. Please note that i paid for this vehicle brand new, in full, from devan acura of norwalk and do not appreciate feeling as though acura relations and devan acura of norwalk has shown a lack of concern towards mine and my family's safety, as they chose not to further assist in this matter and i fear for my family's safety driving this vehicle and would like it repaired as promised by acura relations (case number will be provided upon request).

I was exactly halfway through a 350 mile road trip, driving uphill along a busy interstate in the left lane when, without warning, my 2001 acura 3.2 tl began losing speed despite continued throttle acceleration. The engine rpm's were climbing as if the transmission were in neutral. Luckily, i was able to roll to right shoulder and come to a safe stop. My transmission shut down completely. The reverse and all drive gears behaved as neutral. I was left with only park and neutral. I opened the hood and smelled something burning. When i checked the transmission fluid it was black and smoking. Just 3 hours earlier when i checked all my fluids before leaving, i noticed the transmission fluid was the normal shiny red. I was given no warning signs, no symptoms of shifting problems, and no console indication that my transmission was running hotter than normal. I understand that there was a recall on my year make and model, and that my transmission was included in that recall. Why didn't acura fix this problem?my vehicle has only 103,000 mi; this shouldn't have happened.

Transmission slips between 3 and 4. Doesn't do this all the time, however; many, many forums are full of 2001 acura tl's having transmission solenoid issues. We bought car used (163,000), many cars out there with the exact same issue which should have been addressed in the 2000's.

Transmission failure: i bought this car at 25k miles in sept "04". Recall took place apr. "04". I was never told by the dealer, that a "recall" was made on the tranny for 7/100k. ( it was more important that they put the sale of the car over the safety of me and my child )i found out on the day my tranny went out on aug. "10" and they said i would have to pay $3,700 for the repair due to the warranty has expired. I was coming off the freeway at 65 mph when i exited and slowed down to approx. 35 mph, the car went "crazy" it was bucking and jumping and thrusting us forward in a jerking motion. I am female and had my toddler with me, i was scared, it was a strange behavior for a car, it felt like i was being hit from behind by another car. I couldn't shake the idea that we just got off the freeway. Had this car done this while on the freeway!! my thoughts are we would of been badly hurt along with others. It was a matter of seconds that changed my outcome, along with the "guardian angles". I am terrified to drive this car. I am unemployed and gave the dealer all the $$ i had. I have read on your nhtsa web site, of people having to replace up to three times. The design problem is not resolved, from the results, it is not resolved, yet these cars are on the roads and every other day someone's tranny is going out as well as them experiencing near injury conditions. I just don't understand!!! when "tylenol" was recalled...they removed the product from the shelf to ensure the safety of the public. Why isn't this being done here as well. Give us blue book value at the time of tranny failure and scrap these cars. Because they are unable to come up with a reliable tranny fix in their design flaw, give us blue book value so we can drive a car that is more safe.

While driving my 2001, the tranny was not shifting. Scared my wife silly.had less than 50000 miles and had taken the car to acura for this issue.they installed some kind of cooler device related to tranny issue.$3000 later for a tranny repair at a reputable independent garage andacura refused to foot the bill. No more acuras for me and my family.hit them where it hurts-in the pocket book!

The contact owns a 2001 acura tl. The contact stated that the vehicle would sporadically lose engine power. The contact stated that the vehicle would start normally but as the transmission became hotter, the failure would occur. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact was not provided with the reason that the transmission needed to be replaced. The failure and the current mileage was 155,000.

The contact owns a 2001 acura tl. While driving 72 mph without warning, the vehicle failed to shift gears. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 04v176000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2001 acura tl. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph the transmission jerked violently and failed to shift into second gear. The rpms began to increase with the illumination of the tcs and engine warning indicators. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 04v176000 (power train) however, the secondary gear did not exhibit discoloration and the dealer refused to repair the vehicle . The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileagewas o 200,000.

As i was driving through the mountains in monteagle tennessee my transmission went out. My car actually started rolling back down the mountain, because i could not accelerate, but i was able to back it into the emergency lane as i was rolling backwards. I was frightened to death because trucks were coming up on me and it was night time. I was stranded for six hours in the mountains because my cell phone did not work and i did not know where i was because i was on a trip to chicago from atlanta. Luckily a tennessee state trooper saw me and he got me a tow truck. I had to stay in a hotel for two days and i had it towed to pye acura in chattanooga tennessee. My car had 90000 miles at the time.pye acura replaced the transmission under the 100000 mile warranty with no problem and had me back on the road. Hopefully this transmission will last, from what i have been hearing, even the re-manufactured transmissions are bad. I was still upset though because i lost a lot of money paying for a hotel and a tow truck, and i was going to chicago for my birthday so i missed my party.

We own a 2001 acura 3.2tl, which we bought in 2006 with 43k miles on it.it currently has a little more than 91,000 miles on it.about a month ago, we started experiencing transmission trouble - very sluggish shifting, and slippage between 2nd and 3rd gears, and heavy shaking/vibration of the car (until then it has been a fantastic vehicle).i googled it and found out that it was under a recall.however, when i called the local acura dealer, we were told we were beyond the 7 yr window, even though we have less than the 100k limit on the warranty.

While driving automatic transmission would skip fromfirst gear tosecond gear.had contacted dealer, but problem could not be fixed.please provide more information.

The transmission started siezing up. It will not shift to the next gear while theengine kept revving up. It would eventually jerk badly and shift to next gear. Dealer says that the car needs a new transmission.the car only has 34000 miles and it appears that there is a rash of transmission problems with this year and model. How do i know that this will not happen again in another 1.5 years? i was thinking of buying a acura mdx. I have second thoughts now.

2001 acura 3.2 tl, 47000+ miles transmission problems: needs to be replacedbought car new: only drivercalled client services and my dealer for repair compensationthey claim vehicle is out of time period for recall (i was never notified of problem)acura will pay half: cost to me $2400+because of low mileage and the problems acura has had with the transmission of this model, they should be responsible and incur the entire cost.

2001 tl needs another transmission job, and acura is not willing to pay for this 3rd transmission as of yet. Always loved the cars and when they sent me the recall notice in 2003/04 thought it was very honorable. When i drove the car to the dealership it nearly killed me as it dropped down to 2nd gear on the highway. I was able to get to the dealership in one piece and they "fixed it". Thought it was honorable that they proactively resolved situation. However, i noticed the gears slipping again just the other day and knew right away that it needed to be taken back. As i was driving it back a truck came feet away from crushing me as it dove down to 2nd gear. I was barely able to get it to the breakdown lane in time, i was scared @*(#(&$. Had it towed there and they charged me $96 just to look at it. Called me and informed me that since it's out of the 7 year/100,000 ml warranty that they cannot be responsible. It's under 100,000 miles, i'm original owner, and they are telling me they don't have record of fixing it from 03/04. (i brought it to them, but there computers only go back 5yrs?) they want to charge me 3,100, and claim that since they haven't serviced it in 5 yrs they don't know if it's been serviced properly. I moved away what the hell? this will be the 3rd transmission on it and it's under 100,000 mls??? i replace the tires less often, have a perfect driving record and both my brothers bought cars from acura of auburn "ma". I easily could have died the other day and they showed no empathy. It's like they've seen this too many times that they've become jaded. I'm awaiting a call back from a case manager. If they don't help me i'm contacting the better business bureau/writing the attorney general. There is no way they should be profiting from such an obvious design flaw. I at one time loved the car, i will never buy another and will proactively tell people looking for a car to stay far far away. I've never been this angry and disappointed. Gl to all owners!!

2001 acura tl transmition fails

One week ago i noticed that my car's transmission (2001 acura tl) was slipping between 2nd and 3rd gear as well as when shifting into reverse. I went to acura honolulu yesterday and they confirmed the issue was with the transmission slipping. They estimated that the repair costs would total $6600 (nearly what the car is worth). I did some online research and found out that this year's model has a faulty transmission and they had offered an extended warranty, however, because my car is over seven years old, they will not honor this warranty even though my mileage is within the accepted coverage of 100,000 miles. I'm now stuck with a car that is unsafe for me and other drivers on the road yet acura is unwilling to assist in the repair costs. I have contacted my dealerships service manager as well as their corporate offices, but they were unwilling to offer goodwill assistance. I take good care of my car and it is unfortunate that acura is willing to keep a bad product on the market while leaving the owners to pay ridiculous repair costs..

This same problem occurred with parent's 2002 acura tl type s and their transmission was replaced at 22000 miles (last week); additionally, there are identical complaints of this online - same car, same problem, same gear, etc.; this is very dangerous and people could easily be injured or killed.

Transmission failed in car which almost caused it to stall in acceleration because it was unable to find third gear while accelerating with other cars behind me.i was able to keep the car under control and move it off road to a safe spot.i had researched transmission problems with my car so i realized the symptoms immediately but had less than a day's notice before it happened.others have reported even less notice with their cars on the highway at a high rate of speed dropping from 5th to 2nd gear jerking them forward and causing the car to swerve.

Consumer was involved on a collision caused by the transmission. Dealer was contacted and stated that wanted to see the car to look at it, but consumer did not know where the vehiclewas towed to. Ph

Transmission started to slip at first, it slip after i reverse out of my drive way and then when i put it in drive that's when it slips. Thought it was nothing until the transmission started to leak. I took it to a shop to get it look at and they said that it needs to replace. Also one thing is that i'm the second owner and never received any recalls notice. So right now i don't know if i should take it to the dealership to get it replace because of the recall.

Problems with automatic transmission.gear slippage, sluggish on acceleration, numerous transmission repairs through dealer, vehicle recalled - still not working properly.

My transmission went out on me the other night it was dark and pouring down rain.i was driving on a back road at 55 mph when all of a sudden the car went from 55 mph to 40 mph.i had already scheduled the car to go in the next morning, but realized that the car would not make it until the next morning. I turned the car around and headed for the dealership.i called and told them i was bringing it in.i road with my hazard lights on the way back to dealership.the car would only go as fast as 40 mph with the rpm running at 4500.this was scary for me because it was dark and raining and it was hard to see other cars. I got the car to the dealership and they gave me a loaner car.the next day i got a call from the dealer they said that they confirmed with their computer that the transmission needed to be replaced.i then said, i can't believe it.this will be the 4th transmission put into the car. They said, they have to send this transmission to acura and they would put a new transmission in the car.well from the web sites that i have read today says they are putting rebuilt transmission in brand new cars.they knew about this time bomb and that is why they extended the warranty. I think that the rest of america and world should know what acura is doing to their customers and i think they need to fix this problem right away, or give us our money back so we can go buy another car and not acura.

On my acura 3.2 tl transmission problem, gear slipping and could be potential high/fatal risk on a hwy.

I purchased a 2001 acura tl last week 03/09/10fell in love ....on 03/16/10driving down the highway at 60 mph the check engine light comes on rpm risewhen i press the gas pedal but the car doesn't speed up. And im forced to try and drift into a breakdown lane without getting hit by other cars on the highway!.so that means i've only had the car for a week and it almost killed me!

Transmission shows a pattern of major slippage and extremely hard shifting between gears d1 and d2.i have been contacted by many other 2001 acura cl owners with the same problem.

I am the original owner and only driver of my car and i have taken excellent care of the vehicle (nearly all dealer-recommended inspections and maintenance in timely manner). The original transmission failed and was replaced in 2003, as per the manufacturer's recall.once again, my car has been rendered inoperable because the remanufactured transmission has now completely failed (after the expiration of the extended warranty) - with 108,000 miles on the odometer.with a moderate driving history, a well-cared-for car should not have two failed transmissions in nine years.as a retiree, $4000 repair costs or used car purchase prices are both prohibitive; and acura disclaims all responsibility.

The transmission failed to shift and would down shift on its on.the mechanic informed the consumer that the problem could not be duplicated.the driver informed the mechanic this problem has occurred on numerous occasions and has not been resolved.please fill in additional information. Heat buildup transmission second gear.transmission lockup.recallcampaign id number : 04v176000*tc

Transmission locked almost causing vehicle behind to rear-end me. Previously submitted report on this to nhtsa, but would like to enter acura's response. Acura performed one of the transmission recalls, but refused to perform the other transmission recall due to the fact that my auto was previously salvaged, but at the time, now had a clean title.vehicles less than 10 years old from the first date of purchase should be honored whether or not all warranties have been voided, especially if it is dangerous. Since they honored one recall, they should also honor the other.

My acura 3.2 tl transmission has failed for the second time in 5 years. I replaced the transmission for the first time 2 years after i bought it.after another 70,000 miles, it has failed again and replacing the transmission costs approximately $5000.00.as a consumer of a supposedly high quality vehicle, this is just wrong.

Vehicle suddenly slows down to approximately 15 mph almost causing the vehicle behind to rear-end me.in this particular incident, the vehicle behind me slammed on their brakes. Nhtsa has a recall campaign id#04v176000 that my acura dealer will not honor since it was previously salvaged, but now has a clean title. Spoke with customer service at honda motor and they also refused to honor the recall. I had the entire transmission replaced with acura's updated parts. I expect reimbursement and a written letter for dealer to repair transmission when it happens again, as it most likely will, according to the many complaints on your site.

First noticed the failure after parking the car and then putting it into reverse to back out of the parking lot.proceeded to drive normally, put the car in d5 (automatic mode) and noticed hard abrupt shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear.3rd gear seemed like neutral, car just revved and then caught 4th or 5th gear.once in high gear and up to around 60mph on the highway the car suddenly downshifts to what seemed like 1st gear causing the tires to lock up for about a second and then went back into 5th gear.fortunately there was no one behind me following to closely.continued to drive, only slower this time and it did it again at about 45 mph this time.i pulled over and called the local dealership(acura of baton rouge, la) and had the car dropped off for repairs.solenoid replacement didn't solve the problem so he informed me that they would replace it with a remanufactured transmission.car would be ready in about a week and a half.

While driving, the vehicle started to shake violently, the consumer was propelled toward the windshield and momentarily lost control of the vehicle. The consumer took the vehicle to dealer and after a diagnosis was performed, the consumer was told the automatic transmission failed.

Transmission failure. Got replaced, but i see there is no guarantee that it shall work fine in future and it is really scary as it could fail in speed and could expect problem.

My 2001 acura 3.2tl transmission died after 35k miles. The car shifted gears on its own for a few months, then finally decided to stop working on 10/18/03 on the way home. The car right now is in the shop waiting for the replacement transmission. I am very concerned as i did my research on the internet. Too many complaints filed at(www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/petition-sign.cgi?acura). I don't want to get caught in an accident like others because of the transmission problem. I spent a lot of money for this car. I use it for my business everyday, and i am now afraid to drive it on the street. This problem seems to be a defect and should be classified as a recall. I would like american honda to take my car back and return my money.p.s. I had previously own a 2001 acura rl and had similar transmission problems. My acura dealer tried to fix it 3 times. Problems still exists. Finally, i returned the car.*la

To whom it may concern,i own a 2001 acura 3.2 tl for 3 years.i am going on my 4th transmission.acura is aware of this problem they just keep putting rebuilt transmissions in a brand new car.they extended the warranty on the car to 100,000 miles.i currently have 82,000 miles on the car. I have two years of car payments left.the dealership said they would see if acura will extend the warranty again.that is fine if they do, but they still have not fixed the transmission problems yet.i have looked out on the internet there are many complaints about transmissions in these vehicles, but yet consumer report still gives these cars the highest rating on there transmissions. I also find that there is pending lawsuit against the honda motor company.i was wondering if you could do a story on this consumer problem and see if there is other people out there then the ones that know how to use a computer.thanks, jacqualine martin 9601 looking glass courtbristow, va 20136(h) 703 335 0119(c) 703 967 3991*la

These acuras are having a major problem, someone needs to step in before someone gets hurt driving them when a transmission goes or something else.

I own a 2001 acura tl. As i write this it is in the shop for it's third transmission. I was almost in three rear end crashes as the car would not move when i steped on the gas.

Honda claims to have a good reputation for building stable vehicles. I bought my acura brand new in 2001 and my transmission has failed only 100,000 miles later. That is worse than a old ford escort. Honda has been attempting to deceive consumers by claiming they will address a transmission defect they identified since in 2004. I have seen dozens of complaints indicating that they are not honoring their commitment to consumers. A class action lawsuit is needed to prevent this company from abusing their customers. Someone is going to loose their life if honda does not fulfill their obligation. They are giving consumers the run around by claiming that the inspection was allegedlycompleted and no breakage in the gears were detected so that the cost of replacing transmissions will not be incurred by them. The acura transmissions are now beginning to fail at a rapid pace and honda is refusing to replace them. Please investigate this matter before people starts losing their lives because of this company's negligence. What they have been doing is attempting to stall the process by passing faulty transmissions as operable then waiting until the warranty expires to trap the consumer with the costs of repairs. This is unscrupulous and unethical behavior. If my car isn't repaired immediately i am going to invite media attention to this matter as i have evidence of this wrong doing.

Vehicle failed to maintain speed.consumer has been in close circumstances where vehicle hesitated upon acceleration.nhtsa recall campaign 04v176000: automatic transmission second gear.the dealership will not perform repairs because the failure did not occur within their two minute drive inspection.consumer contacted the manufacturer, but they kept referring her back to the same dealer because the vehicle was still under warranty.consumer was still having problems with the vehicle performing erratically off dealership premises.

Acura 3.2 tl delivered on march, 2002. Transmission failed april, 2002. Transmission failed once again on feburary 2003.

I have had the transmission replaced in my car twice in a 2 year period.each time it was very frightening, and an accident could have occurred. I feel this a very unsafe vehicle.

Brought car to dealer.they said they couldn't duplicate problem. Problem happens everyday.warranty is almost up. What do i do? no safety defec tmentioned.

The vehicle does not accelerate past second gear, preventing it from moving. Taken to dealer for checkup, and results showed that the transmission needed to be replaced.

Acura has made many defective transmission for the 2001 and 2002 tl and cl. I thinkacura should warn their customer of these failures before someone gets hurt for the failure of a transmission. Luckly, i noticed mines before taking the car out of park. Something has to be done, we are spending to much money for a car that can not stay out of the shop under 50,000 miles. And to add to it all of this acura is doing nothing to my knowledge to contact the owners and help the situation.

2001 acura tl. Consumer states transmission jerks and bucks while driving*tgwthe consumer stated just prior to attempting to back into his driveway, it was difficult to get the vehicle in reverse. There was some smoke in the engine compartment and fluid was leaking in the transmission area.the consumer discovered recall # 04v17600 was issued, but honda was not forthcoming about the recall and whether it had been performed. The dealer informed the consumer, the transmission had an internal failure and it was recommended that the transmission be replaced. Updated 05/01/12

2001 acura 3.2 tl transmission problem have gotten worse after recall repairs were completed.*mrconsumer feel that the dealership did not do the proper repairs to fix the transmission.

2001 acura 3.2 tlneeded transmission replaced in october 2006 due to a safety related defect.mileage on car at that point was about 61,000 miles.august 2010 transmission needed to be replaced again.the car has about 98,000 miles on it.so the transmission needed to be replaced when it had incurred 37,000 miles on it.the dealership will not replace it under the safety related defect.the dealership said originally that i had to pay almost $5,000 to get a new transmission.finally, after much hassle, they made me pay $1,005 and i had to pay $330 for a rental.the transmission failed due to the safety related defect and i should not have had to pay for it.clearly the transmission that they installed in 2006 was defective, just as the original transmission was defective.the transmission failed with little or no warning in august and i very easily could have had a crash.it locked up and i could barely move it while i was driving.

At 26,0000 miles, 2001 acura 3.2tl automatic transmission failed.while passing a very slow car, transimission suddenly did not engage and engine rpms soared while power to wheels ceased.tc and engine lights came on.went to dealer immediately without stopping and adivised it was ok to continue driving carefully, one week out appointmment given to me.at appointment, informed of at failure, covered under warranty.returned one week later.

In march 2007 i purchased a 2001 acura 3.2tl,after a couple of months i noticed the transmission was slipping, i took the vehicle to a local acura dealer to find that the transmission needed to be replaced.after doing some investigating i found acura had recalls on the transmissions, mine was considered out of warranty because the miles exceeded the recall.(this occured in may 2007)in may of 2008 my transmission went completely, during this time frame the transmission would slip, down shift etc which could have caused an accident or even death with my family and me. I contacted acura hq and was given a case manager, who asked me to take the car back to the dealer repair shop, they would inspect it and contact me to see if they would possibly replace it (as a goodwill gesture)i was also told that i would never had received any notice of the recall because i was not the original owner, therefore since a repair was never done i feel that they should honor the recall, do the right thing and repair it.i received a phone call from the dealer stating acura would only cover 25%, i was told by the repair shop that the transmission was so far gone that they couldn't even tear it down to do an inspection of the gears.at this point and time i have had to pay for a car rental for one month, may have to put out at least $2500 for a repair and i am not a happy customer.to me a recall is a recall and i feel acura hq would want to keep satisfied customers.i have owned both a honda and acura prior to this and had approximately 250,000 miles on my other acura.i was told by acura hq, that if 2nd and 3rd gear were damaged they would replace the transmission, i faxed my paperwork from may 2007 which certainly stated this and am now told that this will not occur.what are my next steps to have acura shoulder the full responsibility

We were returning on 10/02/06 from a 1,000 mile road trip to pa, on the way home (at night, in the pouring rain, with a toddler) we lost our transmission.this was on a 65 mph highway.the transmission slipped from 2000 rpm-5000 rpm and back a few times.by the time i could get safely pulled over, the car would not move.when i tried to drive it to move safely off of the highway, it was revving at 5000 rpm and moving a 2 mph.i obviously did not want to do more damage, so we sat on the highway in the middle of an off ramp until assistance arrived.we had it towed to a local garage.they called the next day to tell us that the transmission was gone and they have such a high failure rate that they go for $2000 even at salvage yards.they quoted us $3650 for a rebuilt, with a new computer (acura required!!!) and labor.the kicker is, we had only been over our warranty mileage by 3k.we were also given no warning (neither warning light nor driving) that there was a problem. I can not believe that honda/acura can have the #2 most reliable vehicle reputation.after simply searching for "2001 acura tl transmissions" there were pages upon pages that have had their transmissions replaced as early as 25k and some have even had two to four replacements.how is this the #2 most reliable care company?i do not think a transmission should go at 100k, if maintained properly, there is no reason for it.i am disgusted that we just bought this vehicle last year and still owe 2 and a half more years on it!! even worse, since we bought the vehicle, we were never made aware of any recall by acura and were not able to bring it to acura (for free) to make sure everything was ok.had we been made aware when we took possession (i am sure acura has records of new owners as we just got a recall on our used 2002 chevy), we could have avoided this.right now, we are renting a car since we both work full time jobs, on top of a $3650 repair.

Numerous transmission failures, 4 each and 1 in a 2001 3.2 tl "loaner".this vehicle just "locks" up when traveling at high rates of speed, downshifting without warning from 45 to 10-15 mph.the engine redlines, and the governor takes over preventing damage to the engine.it is only a matter of time before someone is rear ended and dies in this vehicle.acura keeps installing "new" remanufactured transmissions with the "hope" it is fixed.my last occurance actually broke a hydraulic filled motor mount - that's how much force the transmission failure puts on the vehicle

While driving the vehicle would either hesitate upon acceleration or slip. There was also a noise in the automatic transmission. *nlm......

Acura tl model 2001 having transmission problems. Spoke to acura care with no response. Acura is giving worst possible customer service.

Many acura 3.2 cl owners have been reporting transmission failures, as well as acura 3.2 tl owners, who have the same transmission units in their cars, and believe that this may be a safety hazard.if the transmission failure occurs while driving the vehicle, the vehicle sometimes slows down abruptly, especially when the driver is accelerating.for example, when trying to pass someone, the transmission will suddenly leave the engine revving high, but the car wont actually accelerate and actually slows down, sometimes very noticeably.this can cause someone to rear end you if theyre coming up from behind you not expecting you to suddenly come to halt for no apparent reason.also, it seems that honda/acura may have known about this problem with its automatic transmissions since the release of the honda v6 accord, which is the platform on which the acura cl and tl models are based.the cl/tl models have increased horsepower over the accord, especially the type s models, and these transmissions may not be able to handle the extra power.

Automatic transmission failed which caused the vehicle to shake violently and the driver momentarily lost control.*phthe consumer was told the transmission needed to be replaced.

2001 acura 3.2 tlautomatic transmission was slow to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear.problem became progresively worse over a period of a few days.transmission was eventually replaced by dealership.

While enteringhighway ga 400, i noticed that my 2001 acura 3.2 tl slammed in to first and second gear. Then, the d5 dash light began blinking, then the tcs light, then the check engine light. I drove to the nearest dealership (jackson acura), who advised me that the transmission had failed and offered 10% "help" with the $5,331.65 cost for a new transmission. I was "lucky", in that we were driving in excellent conditions. We could have been hundreds of miles from home, in the rain, in the dark, with small children... There was no warning. I consider this to be a major safety hazard.

The contact owns a 2001 acura 3.2tl.while driving 40 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate and the contact could not shift gears with ease.he stated that the check engine light illuminated intermittently.the dealer replaced the transmission.the current and failure mileage were 105,700.

While driving the vehicle transmission locked up and without warning. The driver turn the vehicle off and was able to coast off of the road by applying the vehicle in neutral.the driver restartedthirty minutes later and drove to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed the driver that the housing unit of the transmission needed replacement.please provide additional information.

Every now and then gear does not engage, sometimes on the highway vehicle loses power. Problem intermittent. Consumer feels this is very dangerous. Dealer has been contacted.

2001 3.2tl acura. Document sent regarding mediation on behalf of consumer regarding transmission problem *tgwthe consumer stated while driving, the transmission made a loud bang noise. He pulled over to side of the road, but no noise was heard.he got back in the vehicle, put the vehicle in gear and began to proceed slowly, again no noise was heard.the next morning, he made arrangements to take the vehicle to the dealer. At the first stop sign, as he pulled into a lane and turned right, there was a grinding noise coming from the vehicle.when the consumer arrived at the dealer he found out, that a safety recall had been issued, but the work was previously done. The consumer was informed the transmission needed to be replaced at an estimated cost of $4,800.00

While driving at 65 mph, the vehicle lost power.the consumer pulled onto the shoulder and waited a few minutes.then the vehicle was restarted and everything was back to normal for a little while.after a mile or two, the vehicle jerked and lost power again.the vehicle was taken to the dealer whodetermined that a new transmission was needed.this problem occurred again and another transmission was replaced.the vehicle had been repaired. *scthe brakes were replaced.

I was passing a vehicle in my 3.2tl when suddenly the wheels seemed to have locked and my car came almost to a screeching halt.the next day i found out that the transmission failed.this is a very dangerous situation.the vehicles behind me could have easily rear-ended me and caused a chain reaction pile-up.luckily the car did not stop completely, so i was able to recover from the incident without personal injury and/or property damage.it angers me that acura is not owning up to the aparent transmission troubles that have been occurring.just a few weeks ago, my supervisor informed me that his transmission failed on his 3.2cl at only 18k miles.another concern is that the warranty is 4 years/50k miles and acura needs to extend the warranty until they figure out the problem with these transmissions.what am i supposed to do when the warranty ends?acura needs to be held accountable.

2001 acura 3.2tl with transmission problems. Consumer states that they received a recall for the transmission. Dealer installed oil jet kit informed on the recall. They also say the transmission completely stopped working.the consumer stated after the service was performed, he started to experience shift changes, and gear slippage. The transmission was replaced, however 2-4 months later the consumer began to experience erratic shifting and a feeling of gear slippage, but the consumer was told the transmission was working properly. The consumer stated on july 16, 2007 the transmission malfunctioned again when all of a sudden the engine increased and when he let off the cruise control, white smoke billowed from the rear of the vehicle. The consumer was able to pull over and had the vehicle towed.the service center informed the consumer that the transmission had failed. Recall#04v176000

While traveling on highway vehicle will stall and hesitate.when takingfoot offbrakestires made a squeaking noise. Dealership is aware ofproblem.

The d5 on the transmission started blinking, the the engine light came on along with tcs light. The shift from lower to higher speeds was bit jerky or slow. I took the car to the dealer for check-up. On diagnostics, he gave me the codes p1739 and p1750. The recommendation was to replace the transmission - cost 4200$.this problem was highlighted in a 2002 memo from acura , however, in my case, the problem shows up at this mileage and i am not covered.i spoke with aamco which apparently acura does not endorse and they said that torque failure is common on honda transmissions.

On may 7, 2003, at 32,905 miles my 2001 3.2tl experienced a transmission failure.took it back to dealer who replaced part number 37820-pe8-305rm.this morning while driving into work, the car was once again slow to engage 3rd gear and did not seem to cycle to 4th or above.

Near crash due to transmission failure.

I also have had some major transmission failures.my orginal transmission failed on the freewaywhile going apprx. 65 mph, the transmission appeared to down shift into park or first gear.this problem came without any warning. At those speeds you can only emagine what my back and neck felt like, not to mention all the cars that were skidding behind me attemping to avoid an accident.when this failure occurs there are no brake lights to indicate your slowing down or stopping.the transmission was replaced (no questions asked) than, around 1200 miles later another massive failure.again back to the dealer for them to replace the transmission and try again.this car should be removed from the streets and i should be paid back the money i've invested. These transmissions are a huge safty problem. Could this problem get any worse ???????

Consumer stated while driving at any speed, and without warning the vehicle would shift gearson its own.

While driving vehicle hesitates to shift gears.then it will jerk into gear, causing vehicle to launch forward. Also does this in reverse gear. Contacted dealer. Had transmission replaced 2 twice, problem reoccurred.

I am the original owner of an acura tl 2001.at 40k miles as i was driving on a busy highway the car started jerking, i went from 40 mph to almost a complete stop in seconds.i took the car to the dealer and a new transmission was placed as it was under warranty. The car now has 108k miles.my husband was driving yesterday on a busy highway at 65 mph and the car did the same thing again.we had the car towed to the dealer today and the have informed us that it needs a new transmission again.my first concern in all this is the safety of my family.my husband could have been killed yesterday.he was on a busy highway in which the speed limit is 65 mph we feel very fortunate that the car behind him was far away enough that it did notrun into him.looking back i was very lucky when it happened to me.this transmission problem can cause a very serious accident.my second concern is that the dealer says the warranty on the transmission is only good to 109k miles no matter what happens after that.i started doing research on this problemand found that many people have had to replace their transmissions three times.this leads me to believe that they are replacing them with faulty transmission which continues to be a hazard on the road.i feel that acura is not doing enough to protect the public and to resolve this issue.

Transmissions failure in a 2001 acura tl. 3rd transmission in 36000 miles.

While driving 70 mph and without warningspeed of vehicle dropped from 70mph to 10 mph.driver suffered minor injuries.

While traveling at 35 mph, consumer states" the vehicle suddenly shut down."the vehicle was towed to acura, and acura is replacing the transmission.please provide any further information. Ph

The warranty only covers to 50k miles and the transmission might go out again...there is lots of acura tl owners with bad transmissions including mine which i just replaced, but afraid it will go bad again.please help!!!

On january 24, 2008 we sent a letter to richard colliver, executive vice president, auto sales at acura in response to a questionnaire.we bought a used acura 2001 3.2tl in november of 2005.it had a "reconstructed title".in oregon this means there was no frame damage.the car had about 50,000 miles.i have put over 30,000 miles on the 3.2 tl since we bought it and had no problems until the transmission started slipping.after visiting with my mechanic and the local acura service department regarding the transmission we discovered there had been a recall on the transmission and was told this was done in january of 2005.at some point, acura also extended the warranty on the transmission because of an internal problem with the transmission that caused it to slip after it warmed up.i feel we have been left in the lurch with a transmission acura knows is faulty.the car was in an accident more than two years ago, before we bought it, and you are telling us the accident voids the warranty.if the accident caused the transmission problem i think it would have shown up a long time ago.i don?t think body work on a car ? no matter how extensive ? would necessarily add up to transmission failure.it seems to me to be an excuse for acura to push aside a problem they know is their responsibility.i have never received any response from mr. Colliver.the man who did call and give us the run around again about the reconstructed title when faced with our logic then changed his tune and said the service department only said the transmission was slipping they did not say anything about it clunking.it does clunk into gear after it slips but evidently if the acura service did not designate that on the invoice they won't consider it.however, i believe if they had designated that very thing, there would have been another excuse.

The contact owns a 2001 acura 3.2tl. The contact stated that the vehicle would jerk while driving 25 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 125,980.

The wife started having transmission problems on 11/3/2003 in the morning.i called the dealership and told them of the problem.they set the appointment for 4 days later.by noon time the transmission would only go into reverse and we called to have it towed to the dealership.the next day they said that someone may have gotten soda down in the shifter and that is what they were going to check out. I called them around 3:00 and they said that they were now going to replace the transmission and they said that the new transmission has the problem fixed.i am very mad at the service dept. Of the acura dealership, 1. They know of the problem and would let my wife and our one year old ride around for 4 days like that when you read that some people have the transmission. Lock up on them on the highway. Are they just trying to save the money on a rental car? 2. They know of the problem and tried to say that soda got into the shifter.3. Is the problem fixed liked i was told or are they just putting in another rebuilt junk transmission for us to have problems later down the road. They are trying to cover up the problem and they should recall the problem and fix it. We tried to call my wife's girl friend who has a cl and let her know about it before something bad happens to her. Acura and nhtsa should all do the proper thing and recall the cars today.*la

My acura 2001 3.2tl automatic transmisson was started by turning on the ignition. As soon as it was started, with transmission in park, the car took off in reverse. Stepping on the brake didn't slow down the car, neither did shifting the gears. The only way the car stopped was when it hit the fence and house across the street. There was significant damage to the car, well over $7000. I called acura customer service and stated that acura should take responsibility for the incident. They didn't help at all. I wrote a letter to the ceo of american honda and they just referred it to acura customer service. They refuse to help at all when it is clear from all the incidents reported in the nhtsa website that there is a clear problem with acura transmissions. The nhtsa should take action since there are many incidents with honda and acura's. I am definitely afraid to drive the car. I don't see any reason to buy a honda or acura again.

I took my 2001 acura 3.5 tl to acura of riverside complaining of the transmission slipping.initially, they could not document but totally popped out of gear the following day.they were able to get a code & replaced the transmission at 12,500 miles.my complaint is (1)the dealer tried to tell me that this was an extremely unusual occurrence & that these kinds of thing happen to all makes of cars (2) after ordering the replacement transmission, they tried to give me back the car until the replacement transmission came in.i refused and told them that i felt the car was not safe.after i refused to take the car back until the transmission was replaced, they decided to place me a rental car.their daily allowance for the rental was $30 per day which meant i had to pay more for a bigger, safer car as that amount would only pay for a small car.today in the l.a. Times is an article discussingthe failure of transmissions on the acura 3.5 tls and the refusal of honda to recall these cars because no one has been seriously injured yet.my concern is, that in my situation, the dealer would not be honest about the problems honda is experiencing with these cars.moreover, i was basically lied too & told that they hadn't heard of any other transmission problems with 2001 acuras.as previously stated, they also tried to give the car back, unrepaired, while waiting for a replacement transmission.i am extremely unhappy with the dealership & acura over the transmission problem.this car is leased & i would like to give the car back (although the transmission has been replaced) as i don't feel that the car is the quality vehicle that i felt i was purchasing.i do not trust the safety of the car considering how dangerous the transmission failure could have been had i been on a busy s. California freeway.

Complete transmission failure on 2 separate occasions within 3 years.1st failure at 67,000 under normal freeway driving in 2002.while enroute to work in the morning, the transmission froze.67.000 miles later at 134,000 the 2nd transmission froze under normal driving on the interstate. Both times i wasin a lot of traffic creating a very dangerous situation as i started immediate and unexpected slowing.on the initial failure, fortuntely a highway patrolman was able to safley stop traffic and get me off the freeway.i was later towed to valencia acura where they did replace the transmission under warranty.i was able to borrow my mothers car to get to and from work while they repaired my car. The most recent failure i was stuck 80 miles from las vegas, nevadain the hot desert.it cost me $480.00 to be towed to the local acura in las vegas and was strandedover night, losing a days work.i had only planned and was prepared for a day trip to primm, nevada on my off day.i was forced to rent a car for $50.00 and get a hotel room.the local dealer said the 2nd and 3rd gears had frozen and he would charge me $7000.00 to repair the transmisson.that was outrageous so i had to rent a truck and trailer at a total cost of $450.00 to tow my car back home.then i had to pay to have it towed to my dealer, valencia acura, where i purcased the car new and have had all my major services, except oil changes, done.most recently i had the 100,000 mile service done there.i was never told by acura that this model of car has a faultly transmission destined to unexpcted failure.i had no idea and would never expect they would replace one defective transmission with another that would fail at exactly the same mileage. Currently, my car is sitting at the dealer with no known date of repair as acura is unwilling to repair or replace the current defective transmission under warranty.

Consumer reimbursement request for transmission replacement on the 2001 acura 3.2tl.***no answer required***. *mrthe acura dealership performed an oem transmission jet kit update recall on the vehicle, but since he vehicle had over 15000 miles the recall required that the transmission be replaced because the gears were chipped/broken.acura refused to honor this portion of the oem transmission recall 04v176000 .

2001 acura tl transmission failure.without warning, the car died while accelerating from a stop (red-light).i was almost rear-ended by the vehicle behind me.my vehicle is only two years old with 31,000 miles.after the incident, i was able to drive the car very slowly.i went straight to acura dealer, who stated the transmission was defective and needed to be replaced.while no one was injured in this specific incident, the defective acura transmissions have the potential to cause serious injuries.

2001 acura 3.2tl. Consumer states problems with vehicle transmission *tgwthe consumer stated he recently noticed a juddering and slipping on d5 while shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd, especially while going on ramps, merging on to freeways and bridges.the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, but they were unable to find a problem. Two weeks later, the check engine light illuminated and the consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer. The dealer determined that there was indeed a problem with the p1750-clutch press, which was related to the automatic transmission recall. The consumer believed the replacement should be free of charge as a one time gesture.

On june 20th, we were exiting the toll booth to enter a major highway. The car failed to accelerate for about 10 to 15 seconds. We had our 1 and half year old son on board at the time this incident occurred. It was very dangerous and we were very lucky there was no car behind us.we brought the car to acura dealer nearby our house on june 25th, 2007. They did the diagnostic and told us that the transmission is on the way out. They recommended to us to replace the transmission. Since the car is out of warranty, therefore acura will not cover the cost of the repair.we called the honda manufacturer a few times and asked them to fix the faulty transmission that was recalled back 2004. Honda had denied our claim simply because our car is out of warranty.

Transmission fails into mode of down hifting and upshifting inappropriately. This causes the automobile to change speed suddenly and irratically. Extremely dangerous for highway driving.note: this problem is not related to the previously reported 2nd gear problem with these transmissions.

Automatic transmission has failed with a wining sound and no response from accelerator depressed.the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership due to the system failing.the mechanics going to replace the entire transmission without identifying the actual cause.please describe details. Ts

They looked at the car and the next day informed me that the extended warranty would not be covered since the car had been fixed previously at a repair shop and not by acura. According to their own records, my car has had the transmission fixed by acura in 2004.they refused to fix it despite the class action settlement that they agreed to in december of 2006. According to the independent repair shop i took my car to, the car had an original replaced transmission in it and not an aftermarket part. Even by acura's own records, this car had the transmission replaced in 2004 at one of their dealerships and this is the transmission that failed. Based on the lawsuit settlement therefore, they are responsible for fixing this transmission again since it is still under the extended warranty. The refused to assist me and i had no choice to get the car fixed by a local repair shop. I paid $2,292.47 to a local repair shop to get my car fixed that acura should have fixed under wrty.

Transmission failed on major interstatewas towed to dealership.dt

Approximately 17 months after date of purchase, i began having trouble with the transmission while driving out of town.the car had no power, which eventually lead to my not being able to put the car in reverse, without first having some sort of hesitation.the car was transported to the dealer on july 20th, and a remanufactured transimssion was installed in my car. On july 29th i took my car to the dealer with a complaint of a whistling noise that was heard upon exceleration.i was told that the car was operating to factory specifications.i took the car back on august 5th, because i was still hearing the noise upon exceleration, the noise was heard this time by the technician, and a remanufactured transmission was installed the second time.i took the car back on august 20th, for the third time, because the car had no pick up power upon exceleration, i was told that the transmission was slipping, and an a/b valve was installed.i took the car back for the fourth time, because i was having the same problem once again (the car had no pick up power upon excelerationto), the dealer notified me and said that it was once again the transmission and that they would have to order the transmission.nlm

Check out the following news group on the web for others who are experiencing the same problem: http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1078. No safety defec tlisted.

After seeing my seat belt light on for a long time, i discovered that nhtsa campaign number: 01v166002.i called the acura number listed, as well as the dealership that sold and has serviced my car, and both are stating that there has been no recall for these seat belts.i verified they knew my car was a 2001 acura tl, and specifically asked about the seat belts.

I had a terrifying experience with sudden acceleration with the car heading well over 100 mph on the pa turnpike.nothing in car responded - brakes, emergency brake, gear shifting...had to turn off car to stop it! roadside assistance was called. Car was towed this morning (2 days after situation) and is now at dealership.they checked under the hood and said that all was fine - the battery cover looked out of place.i just had this car in last week for the transmission recall.i am afraid to drive this car, let alone have my daughter drive it.i have heard nothing further today.

While traveling on highway vehicle will stall and hesitate.when takingfoot offbrakestires made a squeaking noise. Dealership is aware ofproblem.

Acura fan motor stopped working. Upon inspection saw the connector from the fan motor melted inside. Its a sure fire hazard.

My 2001 acura tl with 162,000 miles has a subframe that is severely rusted and weakened to the point of collapse on the passenger side of the vehicle. Acura has decided to call this normal wear and tear but i strongly disagree. The air conditioning condensing unit has a small hose for condensate that is located directly above the site of the rust. This hose has been dripping onto the subframe whenever the ac has been in use. This is not wear and tear, it is a design flaw that acura is not owning up to and if the weakened subframe were to break while the car is being driven this would be a significant safety issue. The other parts of the subframe are in fine condition, there is only one explanation why it would be rusted out in this one place.

The contact owns a 2001 acura 3.2tl.while making a right turn at 5 mph, the front passenger side tire collapsed to the ground.the contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic and they stated that the lower ball joints collapsed.the dealer stated that the vehicle was not acura certified, therefore, they would not be responsible for the repair.the manufacturer did not provide any assistance.the vehicle has not been repaired.the contact has pictures.the current and failure mileages were 131,000. Updated 01-14-08.updated 12/12/07.

Dt: the contact stated the front right lower ball joint failed while driving. The ball joint came apart, causing the collapse of the suspension, and loss of control of the vehicle. The speed was around 10-15 mph. He has taken the vehicle to the service dealer for repairs. The manufacturer has been contacted.updated 11/29/2005 - the part number is 51210-s84-a02 , superseded by acura part 51210-s84-305.

Consumer states that the vehicle is experiencing a very serious tire deficiency problem and that the tires are proprietary and cannot be exchanged with other tire manufacturers given their sizes, two tires have been slashed, once due to parking by a curb and the second by riding over a stone the size of a fist, no specific tire information given.

Since feb 6 2001 when this car was delievered to consumerfront passenger's tire had to be replaced because of bubbles onside of it .on february20,tire had to be replacedagainbecause ofbubbles on inner side of tire.michelin tires. Dealershipwas aware ofproblem.

Honda motors refuses to purchase the car back or the loan and will not work to equitable solution. They have closed the case and left me with no options.****dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12-12-02 cut over to artemis****761437

These acuras are having a major problem, someone needs to step in before someone gets hurt driving them when a transmission goes or something else.

Dt: driving along the highway, consumer went to change lanes, and when tapping the brake, the car lurched forward, and picked up acceleration, with the accelerator not being touched. The abs system was not working. The brakes regained working control after about 30 seconds, which caused the consumer to fishtail and try not to have a head-on collision. The car turned 180 degrees around with no brake power. Consumer was driving at 60 mph, when this happened....

I drove my car out the garage into the common alley in reverse, once out the garage. When i was out of garage attempted to close the garage door with the genie , and the garage door wouldn't close .i drove the car further away from the garage/building in reverse to determine , whether the genie would operate from another position , next thing i knew the car was accelerating uncontrollably, between 20 - 25miles per hour in reverse next to our building's garages . My car only stopped because i slammed into my neighbor's garage , which was 4 doors down from my own garage .my accelerator was essentially, frozen...a runaway accelerator.similiar instances while i was in the drive mode , but just for quite , short, times.

When stopped with foot on brake car accelerates. Also if car is in reverse, and foot is on brake, car accelerates in reverse. This behavior is reproducible.

Consumer was barely going 2mph in a driveway almost stopped andvehicle suddenly accelerated. Consumer was pratically standing onbrakes, using the left foot and trying to stop the vehicle.beforevehiclestopped acceleratingit demolished a brick pump house, a concrete bird bath, and and 2 trees.no contact has been made with dealer. Vehicle has over $9800 worth of damages.

While driving vehicle hesitates to shift gears.then it will jerk into gear, causing vehicle to launch forward. Also does this in reverse gear. Contacted dealer. Had transmission replaced 2 twice, problem reoccurred.

Accelerator cable/wire snapped in half without warning.. The gas pedal went straight to the floor.luckily, i was not on the freeway doing 70mph since there was absolutely no control of my vehicle after the cable broke.the part was replaced, however, the car only had 25,011 miles on it.the car is only 2001 acura which has been maintained with safety maintenance checks every 7,500 miles.however, there is no check on the automotive check list for accelerator cable.as a matter of fact, this is not suppose to happen at all.the acura dealer did not even carry the part in their stock.how could this freaky breakage occur?why was the accelerator faulty?

Interior rearview mirror (auto dimming) became impossible to see out of due to a defect that caused a liquid to leak and cloud the mirror. Had to replace it in order to see out the back. It occurred gradually over about a year. At first it was just the corner and eventually it covered the whole mirror. I believe this is a safety hazard.

The defroster/defogger system was inoperative.

Automatic rear view mirror leakage and no longer function as it should.the vehicle was used typically, no abuse or misuse in anyway.

Auto-dimming rearview mirror has failed. Mirror is now two-toned (part dim, part normal) and difficult/distracting to use.

Rear view mirror has gone bad.mirror is two toned showing dark on top and light about half way down.this is very distracting.mirror no longer works on day and night modes.

Defroster/defogger vents ontop ofdashbroad atedge ofwindshield are reflected intowindshield. This causes poor driver visibility.please provide any further information.
