The acura dealership inspected my airbag inflator and denied replacement since the airbag number ended with "00" rather than "96", "97", "98", "99". There is no explanation as to why "00" is safe. No one knows at the dealership or corporate office. Am i and others driving with a safe airbag or is it still defective? delayed response from acura and honda. No option provided to purchase a new inflator to guarantee safety. Now they are saying tekata seatbelts may also have an issue, and the dealership refused to inspect seatbelt upon request.

As of today, acura still does not have the parts to fix the defective parts specified in this recall.the recall office of the manufacturer has declined to provide a loaner vehicle or reimbursement during the time when the car is inoperable.due to this recall, i have been denied to use of this vehicle without any realistic estimated time. Acura projects up to one year before a repair could be confirmed.acura should buy these vehicles back if it is unwilling or unable to repair these vehicles.
Acura has failed to provide a replacement for the recalled airbags in a timely manner. The recall was issued on 1/17/2020 and it is now 7/2/2020. I have been unable to drive the car in this time for work and other living needs.
We can take the key out of the ignition when the car is in gear causing the car to roll.this is one of the things that is being recalled.also our srs light is lite on the dash. Our auto manual indicates this is a airbag problem and needs attention by a dealer.we called acura (11/03/2014) at 1-800-382-2238 and talk to danelle.we were told our vin number does have a recall for these items.do we have to have to pay for thisbecause our vin number isn't on the list?if other acura's with our year and model is having a problem why isn't ours on the recall list?
In march 2020, acura sent me a safety recall notice thatsaid,"the replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle, if necessary, are not available and acura is unable to inspect/repair your vehicle at this time." what should i do?
The manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner.
I tried to put my car in reverse after starting it one day to no avail.i placed a screw driver in the shift lock position as the owner's manual stated.i called the acura dealership and told them the problem.they didn't have a loaner car available and asked me to come in a day later.on my way to the dealership for my appointment the next day, i had complete brake failure while going 65 miles an hour on a tollway.the next 14 miles i tried to get the car to slow down.i tried to shift to neutral and put the car in accessory, but nothing worked including the emergency brake.in fact the car accelerated without me ever touching the accelerator.finally i exited off the highway and purposely wrecked the car to avoid injury to others at such a high rate of speed.the car was on fire when i finally stopped.luckily i was alive.i broke my foot and popped 2 vertebrae in my neck.
Airbag sign ison . And transmission is seems like it gets stuck in gear

At the time of this text, the car is at an acura service center. The interior has become soaked with water affecting the battery & possibly other components. Airbag deployed while car sitting still in park (in my garage). I was starting the car in my garage when the passenger side - side airbag (aka; side curtain airbag) mounted in the passenger seat deployed without cause or reason!!!! acura looked at the car for full week and returned the car to me with no explanation. Later, i called them and it was then that they told me (over the phone) that what i said was impossible, airbags don't just go off without reason.now they are calling me a liar. Acura gave the response always given; acura then used their normal excuse (i found multiple examples of this). They then said the airbag must have deployed due to minor scratches they found underneath the front underside of the car (this car is a no accident, one owner car and is pristine all over including under the car) so: they stated that a) i had to have been driving the car (calling me a liar) and b) that i had to have hit a pot hole or something in the road thus causing an airbag to deploy (in an unoccupied seat), as though that would be a good reason for an airbag to deploy! so: airbag explodes sitting still, in a seat with no one in it (again; the passenger seat was unoccupied and empty of any objects or personal effects). So: an airbag goes off sitting still, with no one sitting in the seat!!) and acura again uses the line they always use with many customers who have had unexplained airbag deployments) meaning; "scratches under the underside of an acura cause airbags to deploy)! i swear the statements herein are factual, although, if you knew me, you would know that this is all truthful.closest similar event; complaint # 763720;

Today june 2, 2013, my 2000 acura 32tl had sudden acceleration that resulted in a crash with a parked vehicle on the road while i was backing out of the driveway. After hitting the parked car, i tried to pull the car forward and tried to stop. Instead, it started moving forward uncontrollably, even though i was pushing on the brake pedal.i lost control of the vehicle to stop.it took control and started moving forward through road, driveway and neighboring lawn.i steered for about 100 feet and hit the corner of the neighboring home and finally stopped.it was for about 5 seconds of frightening moment that my family and i went through.it was sunny and 85 deg f.the car had severe damages on back and front bumpers.tire marks on the road, driveway, and lawn, plus property damage to the corner of the house were sustained.front airbags deployed and hit my wife and i in the face.i am wondering if there are ongoing investigations by nhtsa on similar incidents. Please advise.

Takata recall.nothing has happened - yet!recall.would like airbag replaced.
Trasmission has had to be replaced twice. Airbag light has remained a problem since about a year after i purchased it.
Srs light illuminated 5 times since january 2000. Also the driver seat belt light illuminated, the drivers seat belt was replacedsteering colum was replaced, the battery was replaced due to heavy corrosion.
Tthink twice and long before buying a 2000 acura 3.2 tl.we are the second owners of this make/model/year. We and the original purchaser have experienced the following issues:on september 25th, 2001, at 20129 miles, the first owner took the automobile to an acura service department because the srs (supplemental restraint system) indicator light had come on.the shop replaced the 'opds unit' but provided no explanation as to why the warning indicator had come on. At 26467 miles, the original purchaser brought the car to the dealership because the brake indicator light had come on.brake fluid was added, but no reason for the light's illuminating was given.we purchased the vehicle with an odometer reading of 25807 miles.shortly thereafter, the srs light came on and stayed on.at 26467 miles we brought the vehicle to an acura dealer.shop personnel checked the srs indicator and consequently ordered yet another 'opds' unit.while in the shop, the seal around the front windshield, which had puckered up,also was repaired.some three weeks later we returned to the dealership to have the opds unit replaced.no explanation was given for the problem.in the interim, the brake warning light had come on,and the brake reservior cap was changed as well.less than two months have passed:the srs light is again constantly on.we are about to schedule an appointment to have this looked at, and also have the trunk light inspected, since it doesn't work.the trunk light problem is not due to a blown fuse or burned-out bulb; i checked that myself.having the srs warning light come on,together with the dealer's inability to explain or rectify the situation, puts one in something of a quandry:is it a false warning, will the airbag(s) deploy in a crash? or is it an indication of a problem and will the airbag(s) not deploy when needed? the acura 3.2 tl is not an inexpensive car, and one would expect it to require minimum attention while providinga high degree of reliability and safety. It doesn't.

I was going about 75 on the highway and out of no were the srs light comes on i get home and call my mechanic and he says to take the module out and bring it to him and it turns out its non repairable i sent it to one more person for repair and it came back non-repairable so i consider this a big safety issue because if i got in a accident my airbags would not work and i never had a accident or fire of flood in the car before the car is still in new shape sense 2000.

Opd passenger voltage issue causing srs restraint system to fail. Known issues with all makes and models from 1999 to present.
Srs system failure due to faulty part.*mr(nar) the consumer feels that the failure was due to a faulty part or design not wear or tear. The charges were unreasonably high due to poor design. An entire seat assembly should not have had to be replaced to fix an srs sensor.
While driving at 30 mphsrs indicator light came on and stayed on.this may result in air bag failure. Dealership replaced the battery, but the problem still exists.
The airbag system has failed 3 times in 16 months as indicated by the srs warning light on the instrument panel. The system's availability during a crash is questionable.
Air bag light came on intermittently.dealer serviced the vehicle.then, consumer rear ended a vehicle at 50 mph.a recall letter was later received by the consumer on the air bag module.nhtsa recall 02v080000.
Srs light comes on when passenger raises up from seat back. Dealer does not repair but just turns light off, which will come back on shortly. Didn't seem to be much of a problem until service advisor said air bags do not work properly when light is on. If that is the case, it seems it should be fixed instead of covered up.

My 2000 acura tl has an ignition switch problem. I have contacted acura several times to fix the problem but acura will only pay for half the cost of repair. This is clearly a defective manufacturing issue but they refuse to accept full responsibility. The danger is the key can be removed without engaging the car in park. The car can roll and injure or kill someone.
The contact owns a 2000 acura tl. The contact stated that while at a stop and attempting to park the vehicle, the contact was able to remove the key from the ignition while the gear shifter was in the drive position. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 05v025000 (electrical system:ignition:switch) but the vin was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Nhtsa campaign number: 05v025000 i took the car in to crown acura in greensboro, nc about 2 months ago.we have had several incidents of removing the key while the car is in drive and the car rolling.there were no accidents or injury.i wanted them to correct the issue and gave them the recall number.they said that our car is not covered by the recall although safercar.gov clearly says it is.please help.
Opd passenger voltage issue causing srs restraint system to fail. Known issues with all makes and models from 1999 to present.
When turning car off ignition transmission interlock failed and the car was left in neutral and after exiting car it rolled backward (on a hillside) & hit parked truck.very risky!i didn't know that acura tl had prior years (thru 99) that were recalled.also honda had other models in later years with the same problem.called national honda 800 and they verified not covered.i had fixed, but honda is putting public at risk!
My key can be pulled from the ignition without first putting the shifter in park. If the emergency brake isn't applied the car can roll but cannot be steered.it is dangerous.acura and honda have a number of recalls for this issue, including some 2000 tl vins but apparently doesn't include my vin under the recall.the description of the recall exactly matches my symptoms and it is a serious safety issue and a very expensive repair.onset date and mileage are approximate.i've been living with this problem for years hoping that acura would eventually recognize that they are responsible for this and pay for the repair.

Ignition key switch intermittently works and then does not; causing the car to stall or not start.the car can be induced to start by shaking (vibrating) the keys while the key is in the ignition switch slot.this has the same symptoms as the honda recall of the 1999 acura tl & cl's (along with various other honda models).the symptoms that led to the previous recall caused the car to stall during operation putting the driver (& passengers) at risk of an accident.my vehicle is a 2000 acura tl and thus not covered by the recall.

Consumer can remove the keyfrom the ignition switch whenvehicle isn't in park.
Vehicle has been to 2 dealers 3 times for not starting.dealer cannot find cause. Vehicle will not start intermittently. Consumer has filed an appeal underlemon law.
Vehicle is a 2000 acura 3.2tl with 25,000 miles. Car "immobilizer" (anti-theft) system activated preventing car from starting. All keys locked out, so system itself at fault. There was no attempt to steal car (it was parked in garage at the time). If this had happened in a remote area, driver and passengers would have been stranded. Acura said that the only solution was to have car towed to dealership. I believe the anti-theft system is faulty and should be recalled for replacement or removal.
Srs light stays illuminated whilevehicle is in motion. Dealer has inspected vehicle, and replacedcomputer control unit.but, problem still exists.
Srs light comes on; dealer contacted; acura recalled notice for same problem; replaced right safety belt buckle, wiring harness and computer; light still comes on intermittently; system supposedly inoperable when light is on; dealer contacted; unable to fix problem permanently

It doesn't.
Was driving my vehicle which i just purchased on may 26th 2012, and my car began to have shifting problems in 2nd and third gear racing rpms and would not stay engaged in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gear and violently downshifted into second gear at freeway speeds causing me even restrained by the seat beat to fly into the steering wheel and windsheild bumping my head and hurting my back due to whip lash. This occurrence happened several times. Then the d5 would start flashing and check engine light became lite. After calling acura customer care, brian informed me of the recall that had to do with this matter and was supposedly fixed. My car is unsafe to drive because of the rapid change of speed at the cars desire. I could injure not just myself but others around me.
Takata recall and electrical system: air bag deployed right side of car electrical system malfunctioning right side before the crash. Because of deployment of right side air bag it caused the driver side air bag to be deployed. Car was exiting highway ramp when airbag deployed.documented ins estimate avail.
Gear/transmission lock up while driving. Vehicle stalled and could not switch gear back to drive. Vehicle failed emissions twice but was passed 3rd timewithout exemption or waiver. This vehicle has been discontinued due tothe on going unfixable issues, why wasn't it blacklisted or label acategory a car? these acura's are dangerous and shouldn't even be allowed on the road! nhtsa doesn't even specify if the vehicle was fixed after the recalls- obviously they weren't because the car was poorly made and is unfixable. I purchased the car listed above in february 2014.due to transmission problems, i went to trade this car in and purchase a newer one.i was then informed by the salesman that there was a discrepancy with the mileage on the car i was trading in. The history report showed my car at 281,762 miles in july of 2013. At the time i was trading the car in it had a mileage of 161,787. When i was sold the car in february of 2014 the mileage was listed at approximately 140,000 miles. There was no notice on the car indicating an engine swap or odometer swap. The car was sold at a price of $5500 dollars due to the outstanding mileage for that year. I now believe this to be a common practice at this car lot as i did not trade the car in and returned it back to the car lot.
Trasmission went out.while driving;recall mailed to me by service team on timing belt and water pump.
I have a problem in automatic transmission of my acura tl 2000 that i bought 2years ago. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd sometimes it dont change the gear. It seems like slipped. Upon search i found out that this car was recalled for fixing this problem as it is manufacturing fault. But the owner didn't take it may be because it is registered in uae and acura don't have much appearance here. I want to know if acura can do something now at dealership of honda in uae.

I recently had a recall attended to on my 2000 acura when the technician told me that my engine mounts needed replacement!i was quite surprised at this expecially when he then told me that this was an inherent problem with this car and he does 10-15 perf week!!! the mounts, he said, are designed to last between70-90000 miles, and since i had 87000 it was no surprise to him.i have had many cars and never ran into this problem, with an inherent engine mount defect.if this is the case, i feel the design should be corrected and we, the owners should not be responsible for the $458(at this time) is costs to fix their mistake.thank you for your concern.respectfully, joel kreiss

Fuel cleaning and erg valve replacement.cleared all codes and light went off until i drove it home and the light came back on.the fifth attempt to repair check engine light (nov 27, 2002) found recurring codes p-304 and p-306.repaired all ignition coils and spark plugs.updated injector harness "buss" connectors.the sixth attempt (july 28, 2003) to repair check engine light and srs light.check engine light cause #p304 misfire.srs light found faulty opds unit.electrical related.ordered and replaced new unit.the seventh attempt was another mis-fire on #4 and 5 cylinders.i had filed a better business burea claim (between 6th and 7th attempt) and just so happened the district mgr found out about my claim when my car was at the dealership for the 7th attempt repair.he gave orders to stop all repairs on the car because of the bbb claim.i am now in the middle of honda mediation and bbb.i may be offered trade assistance from the manufacturer or value price from manufacturer via bbb.the car is unfixable and deemed a "lemon".i can not sell this car privately in good conscience. I hope acura can admit it is a lemomand put me into a new vehicle --it's to their advantage.

My car was parked in the sun at which time the automatic rear view mirror proceeded to leak caustic fluid from the photo cell unto the middle of my car's interior console especially all over the gear shifter area.this fluid was corrosive to the point that it melted a hole in the bottom of my rearview mirror and damaged the plastic pieces in the center of the console including the gear indicator and its trim ring.the rearview mirror is now cloudy and somewhat damaged.some of the fluid got on the back of my hand when i put my car in gear and caused a slight burning sensation until i washed it off.i'm not sure if there's more fluid yet to leak from the damaged mirror the next time the interior of the car gets hot.
While driving at speeds of 5 - 70 mph the headlights will shut off.most frequently the passenger side shuts off, on occasion both lights will shut off unexpectedly.using the turn signal stalk switch and rapidly turning on and off will typically reset the lights.on one occasion this did not work even after 20+ tries.during these occasions the high beams will function properly.i have tried to duplicate this problem and have been unable to do so.it is a completely intermittent problem.other manufactures have had to issue recalls due to this problem.acura should also be required to address this.other individuals on acura web discussion boards have experienced similar problems.
The contact owns a 2000 acura tl. While driving approximately 25 mph with the headlights activated, the passenger side headlight suddenly failed to illuminate. The contact maneuvered to the side of the road and after turning the headlight control device several times, the passenger side headlight began to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the headlight control module would need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired for the most recent defect. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

This car had been recalled due to a transmission issue in 2004. Early 2012, a shifting delay happened first for about one month. Then, transmission jerked between 2nd gear and 3rd gear and its getting worse. I went back to acura, they said the transmission is broker and should be dead anytime. They suggested me to replace to it, which costs me 3500 dollars.
All motor mounts have failed in my 2000 acura 3.2 tl. In reading about this online it appears that it's happened to thousands of other people online with the same year, make and model as me. As i just purchased the car, i don't know when it happened, however i just uncovered it and really think it's worth looking into.
My transmission failed due to overheating as described in acura safety recall campaign p39.i've had the this diagnosed at acura reno, the maintenance manager has found the described condition present in my transmission. He agrees he has found the heat discoloration and symptoms describes in the warranty and the original safety recall. He is declining service based on the service records of the transmission fluids, he states tans fluid needs to show service records with every 50,000 mile this is untrue based on the owners manual information. Mine meet and exceed acura recommendations.they have confirmed this with the service center that serviced the car in maryland. At this point they are doing everything they can to not honor the repair.safety risk:nhtsa recall number: 04v-176 gear failure could result in transmission lockup, which could result in a crash. Remedy: on vehicles with 15,000 miles or less, the dealer will update the transmission with a simple revision to the oil cooler return line to increase lubrication to the second gear. On vehicles with more than 15,000 miles, the dealer will inspect the transmission to identify gears that have already experienced discoloration due to overheating. If discoloration exists, the transmission will be replaced if discoloration is not present, the dealer will perform the revision to the oil cooler return line.i'm speaking to a [xxx]at acura reno [xxx]my case number with acura is [xxx] my vin is [xxx]this failure occurred on hwy 80 east bound just before donner summit in california. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed the failure applied to nhtsa recall campaign id:04v176000(power train:automatic transmission) but the recall had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 210,300 and the current mileage was 210,475.
The remedy outlined in campaign 04v176000 did not resolve the manufacturers safety defect for my vehicle.per the recall, my transmission had an oil cooler return line installed in december 2004 by sterling acura of austin.i replaced the transmission fluid at 47000, 71000 and 107000 miles.in august of 2011 at 133000 miles, my vehicle suddenly started stuttering and hesitating when up shifting from first gear.the vehicle would also lurch forward due to unexpected down shifts at moderate speed.depending on the traffic and driving conditions this could have resulted in a collision, luckily in my case it did not.however, other owners impacted by campaign 04v176000 may not be as lucky since it is likely a matter of time before their transmission eventually fails for the same safety issues raised in 2004.

2 weeks back while driving on highway, mil (engine) indicator and tcs indicator showed yellow. The transmission was running slow in spite pressing the accelerator, delayed gear engagement while accelerating, harsh gear shifting noise was noticed.i have been facing delayed transmission issues during acceleration previously and thought it was normal.when checked with dealer (from whom we purchased the car at 93k miles) they highlighted as follows. 124705 found code p0740 internal transmission failure. Transmission replacement needed.the dealer quoted $4000 for assembling remanufactured transmission and addition $1200 might be charged if my car transmission cannot be reused by acura.i called acura they took my car and owner information. They mentioned it has crossed the warranty limits and they cannot do anything.lately we came to know about the acura severe transmission issues on the web. The car was sold by the dealer to us in spite knowing about these issues. We have been doing regular maintained and have to face this problem. Recently we did change the timer belts and engine mounts.as a single car owner we have to go through safety issues in the product, wasted time spend in understanding the product issue which is never declared by acura, visiting dealer and mechanic shops to make sense on changing the transmission and continue to spend on major reworks.acura has to take responsibility and address genuine product issues which are nothing to do with customer.i want to escalate this issue to nhtsa for their review. Kindly do the needful.
Airbag sign ison . And transmission is seems like it gets stuck in gear

While entering the highway today, i accelerated and my 2000 acura 3.2 tl went from automatic to sport mode.i was terribly frightened and thanked god that my son was not in the car.the d5 and #3 were lit at the same time.since the shift was in automatic mode, i could not shift to any other gear.i had taken my car to the dealer about a month ago because of a strange noise when my car was in reverse.i told them that i thought it was the transmission.the car was placed on a machine and the dealer told me it was my air conditioner.i found it very strange that i never heard the noise again after that visit.i called the dealer today and he informed me that it sounded like the transmission.i asked him why the last diagnostic test did not find a problem with my transmission (my car had already been sluggish, slow to shift into gear, etc).he informed me that the test would not have found anything if it just happened.i have faithfully kept my car maintained.now that i am about 15,000 miles over the warranty, i do not think that i should be having this problem.when my car was still under the original warranty, i asked the dealer what would happen if my transmission went out after the extended warranty ran out.he informed me that it would be handled on a case by case basis.i will see tomorrow.since owners are still having problems with these cars, evidently the extending of the warranty did not help.peoples' lives are still in danger.
The contact owns a 2000 acura 3.2tl.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer according to nhtsa campaign id number 04v176000 (power train:automatic transmission).a technician installed an oil jet kit because none of the gears sustained discoloration.four years later, the contact experienced difficulty when shifting into reverse.while driving 10 mph, the vehicle began jerking abnormally and the engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument control panel.the dealer stated that they would not assume responsibility for the failure because his vehicle was previously repaired according to the recall.the dealer also stated that the transmission needed to be replaced.the contact is in the process of having the vehicle repaired.the failure and current mileages were 120,000.
The transmission needs replacement on my 2000 acura tl at 93000 miles.fortunately, acura extended the warranty to 100000 miles, but from what i've read, the replacement transmissions are no better and the transmission can go out at any time, causing the car to be completely unsafe.honda has issued a recall on other models using the same transmission, but not the tl.i think this is gross negligence and is putting the public in danger.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)in my acura 3.2 tl year 2000, it was found that this model has a defect that may result in the partial or complete failure of the automatic transmission at any speed. Following the class action lawsuit ([xxx]), the warranty on the transmission of this vehicle was extended to 109,000 miles. My car's vin number is part of this recall. My car started to show signs of transmission issue at ~100,000 miles (another ~8000 miles left with the warranty). I noticed the slipping of gears, hesitation and downshifting of gears and the d5 indicator blinking. My family and my car pool partner, can attest to this issue. My coworkers have heard me talk about this issue. When the check engine light came on, i called the dealership and explained the symptoms, they suspected transmission and advised to also consult acura under recall. I called acura client service and he advised me to take the car to the dealer to get it checked under the warranty. The technician at the dealership drove the car at different times and couldn't reproduce the problem. This problem was intermittent, sometimes the check engine light would come on and after driving couple of times it would reset itself. Now the problem has become worst and the car is not drivable, dealer has confirmed that the transmission needs to be replaced. I filed a complaint with acura, and they don't want to take any responsibility by saying the warranty has expired. I understand that the car now has dragged to 145k miles and has passed the recall limits but if the dealer performed corrective measures and did the test correctly when i took it under the warranty, i would not have this problem today. The bottom line is this model and year of the car has faulty transmission, i had the problem within the warranty period, reported and got checked. Since the check was not performed correctly, i would like acura to take responsibly and fulfill the recall commitment.
My acura 3.2 tl model year 2000 has a defective automatic transmission as diagnosed by the acura dealer.it was diagnosed in 2009 with mileage of about 129,000.it was out of warranty for the transmission warranty following the 2004 recall and settlement.i bought the car in 2003 as a certified used car from the acura dealer.the car had all servicing conducted at the acura dealer and was always up to date.a transmission inspection in 2004 showed no abnormalities and no action was taken by the acura dealer.the acura dealer says, because the transmission is out of warranty, it would cost $3500 to replace the transmission with a rebuilt transmission.acura should pay for this, or at least institute a discount.

Acura tl experienced problems with transmission.*mrat 49,000 the transmission was replaced for free.on feb 25, 2005 the consumer took vehicle for a transmission recall, however he was told the part that failed on his car was not included in the recall.
Between 20 and 40 miles per hour the transmission started to slip at about 40,000 miles.i took it into the dealer and they could not duplicate the problem on call. They told me to replace the transmission fluid.this seemed to make the problem better for a while. Finally it got worse and worse.at 69,000 miles i took the car into a different dealer. They will replace the transmission with a re-manufactured one from acura.
2000 acura tl transmission suddenly shift almost causing accident.upon review found out this is a problem with many acura tls 1999-2002.dangerous defect.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
Transmission on 2000 acura 3.2 tl failed last week auto has about 77,000 miles dealer and acura main office says the recall has expired and that they are not obligated to do anything.
I have a 2000 acura tl. While driving on the delway memorial bridgedoing about 70 mph i noticed smoke in my rear view mirror, then the car started revingand not going anywhere. I pulled over and noticed tranmission fluid at the side of the car behind the car and underneath the car. I took the car to a gas station only to find out that its a possibility that the torque converter in the transmission must have overheated and exploded because the guy could not find a leak nowhere. When he opened the bolt on the transmission it smelled like something burning and smoke came out.i can recall about 6 months ago i took it into the dealership to have them check out the car because of the drive five light, the hard jerk from park to reverse and the thump from reverse to drive, the engine light was also on. All they did was replace some sensor. Now i brought it back to them and they told me that i have an internal transmission failure. When i bought the car it had 80k miles on it, this was last may. When i took it to acura it had 95k now it has 139k on it and it constantly jumps, jerks, rev's and stalls on a regular basis especially when it gets hot.
I am writing because my acura 3.2tlis vibrating and jerkingbad in 2nd gear andi have not had it checked out because i have not received a recall letter about the problem but i am experiencing the transmission problems now and i am afraid of the safety issues it can cause or even death by crash.
Acura tl transmission failed, new one was installed, recall issued sept 04, "fixed" transmission claims to be fine but on occasion violently downshifts, accompanied by warping brakes that acura has issued a service bulletin for, it is a serious problem.
Faulty transmission on my 2000 acura 3.2 tl. Grinding sound. Car surges when stopped. Stalls out when stopped. Makes vibrating noiseupon acceleration. Down shifts by itself. Sounds like their is a broken part moving around inside the transmission.*la
The consumer had trouble accelerating the vehicle. The rpm's revved up.
Transmission failed suddenly.transmission was defective design and part of a class action suit that honda settled without admitting fault.transmission had a safety recall issued to install an oil jet pump on the transmission.this was performed on my car without any explanation to my as to why.
Heard thumping noise in car. Took to dealer. Dealer said that the transmission needed to be replaced.
I was driving around 70 mph on the highway in my 2000 acura 3.2tl when the car suddenly down shifted from 5th gear to 2nd. It sent passengers and cargo flying forward and i almost lost control of the vehicle. I regained control of the car and coasted to the shoulder of the road. I found a trail of transmission fluid behind and under the car. After that, the car would not go over2500 rpms and the check engine and tcs lights lit up. Up until this point of failure, there were no warning signs.
My 2000 acura tl is on it's 3rd transmission.the last one started slipping, then downshifted while i was on the freeway and i almost lost control of the car.
The contact owns a 2000 acura 3.2tl.while driving 65 mph, the transmission failed.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and was repaired in october of 2006.in may of 2007, the transmission failed again.the vehicle was taken to a different dealer who will not provide her with a warranty.the vin and engine size were unknown.the current mileage is 118,000 and failure mileage was 100,000.
I'm an owner of a 2000 acura tl3.2, and for the first time in over a decade of being a true loyal customer of acura/honda, i don't feel safe driving an acura made vehicle due to the defective tranmission.my 2 previous acuras were great, both had in excess of 200k before i traded them in and had no problem with the tranmission whatsoever.because of company's first failed attempt at making a 5 speed tiptronic tranmission it doesn't mean that the company should act irresponsible and endanger its customers' lives in the process.without prior warning, the tranmission in my vehicle got locked up for a good 2 to 3 seconds several times while i was driving.it felt like i hit the brake really hard when it went into lockup, and i was almost hit from behind several times.in addition, had it been raining and the surface was slippery, i would have hydroplaned and crashed my car.and yet after explaining the situations to an agent at an acura dealership, and bear in mind that there have been a recall issued in addition to the extended warranty, he still replied that my tranny is not covered by either one.basically, the recall effort was just a publicity stunt that the company orchestrated in hope of keeping the corporate image.this is really sad because they will loose a lot of loyal customers for good.
Received recall 04v076000 transmission failures: while driving transmission exploded nearly crashed. Also blew up catastrophically again. The consumers wife nearly crashed when the transmission in her vehicle exploded and she tried to avoid getting hit or crashing into something.prior to the recall, the consumer spent over 2700 to have the transmission rebuilt.the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and they installed an oil jet kit, consequently 500 miles later the transmission failed again.
Transmission recall offer to repair vehicle by dealership was declined.problem pre-existed and kit was installed to remedy problem in october 2004.problem still existed after installation..
The contact owns a 2000 acura 3.2tl.while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle would hesitate and the engine would rev continuously.the contact drove to a dealer and they stated that the transmission needed to be replaced.the current and failure mileages were 87,000.
I own a 2000 acura tl type s, i am the second owner of this automobile, i took ownership in 2003.the car suffered a complete transmission failure on november 11, 2004 while going 60mph.no loss of control happened as the car simply went into what felt like "neutral".the transmission was replaced due to a recall on their transmissions.the car only had 71000 miles on it and was the warranty was extended until 109000 miles.on august 10th, 2008, my car once again suffered a transmission failure this time happened as i pulled out of my neighborhood and going about 15mph.acura is acknowledging they have faulty transmissions but in my case are not willing to replace the previously replaced transmission due to it being "out of warranty".the replaced transmission only lasted 58000 miles, way below what should be considered normal, yet acura is wanting me to pay full price for the faulty part and labor.there is obviously a serious safety issue here that need to be looked at, certainly if they are unwilling to address the issue of having me replace my transmission at their cost then i will no longer be a honda customer.however, seems there are ticking time bomb out in the road with these transmissions and surprised i haven't heard anything about recalls being issued nationwide for their specific year of faulty transmissions.
My cars transmission is starting to act up by not shifting gears properly. When driving the car's tranny will suddenly lock up when the car wants to shift. For example im accelerating the car will stay at 20 mph the rpm will rise but the car wont speed up because it has locked. I searched for a recall on my car and there was a recall back in 2004 on the tranny. I gave acura a call but they said they were unable to help me. I did a carfax report and no transmission change was ever done or reported by the manufacturer. I own a 2000 acura 3.2 tl. This brings me to a great concern to me and my family sometimes on the freeway it will lock and sometimes it will speed up . Please help let me know what i need to do. I went to a mechanic who i personally know very well and is a family friend and he told me it is indeed the transmission.
2000 acura tl 3.2 with 3 transmission replacements since purchase. Acura has admitted they do not understand wy the failures continue and that is why the have extended the warantee to 100,000 miles. Problems still exist due to them replacing transmissions every 30,000 miles or so. Now, at 119,000 miles, transmission problems are resurfacing again. May other honda made products such as odyssey, mdx, have already been recalled for same problems. These vehicles use the same transmissions as the tl's in question.
The transmission on my 2000 acura tl was replaced at about 100,000 miles. Now again at 157,000 miles it is slipping again in second gear just like it did originally.the dealer told me that it is out of warranty and i am on my own to pay for the replacement of the transmission again at a cost of approximately $4,000.after reading all the similar complaints about the defective transmissions in the acura tl, i believe that the company has just turned their head on all of us.why is this not being handled by another class action lawsuit?a replacement transmission that fails at 57,000 is not an acceptable solution to the problem.if toyota can get hammered for stuck accelerators, shouldn't honda be fixing their transmissions before someone gets killed!!!*ln
I recently bought a 2000 acura 3.2 tl with a 5-speed automatic transmission with 87,000 miles on it. My transmission had a big pause when shifting from reverse to drive, hard, inconsistent shifting, and it would not shift correctly when going between 2nd and 3rd gear (around 25 mph). When this happened between 2nd and 3rd gears, the car would jerk severly and would only stop if i either braked or pressed on the gas. In heavy traffic 2 weeks ago, my car stalled and the car behind me almost rear-ended my car, however, my car started up again and i brought it into walker acura in metarie, la. They confirmed that my transmission was failing (only 4 months after i had bought the car and with 92,000 miles on it) and that it would be replaced under warranty along with an "axle stuck in the transmission". They have fixed the problem, however, my new transmission has been in my car for about a week now (only 500 miles on it, it's only warrantied for 12,000) and it is already showing signs of failing - pause when shifting from reverse to drive, and the transmission also downshifts into a lower gear (even if it doesn't need to) as soon as i take my foot off of the gas pedal. My new transmission has also made my car alot slower than it was when i first bought it. I am afraid to drive my car, i don't feel safe in it because of my previous transmission malfunction and my beginning problems with my brand-new one. I would have not bought this car if i would have known about the transmission problems, and i would have not known about them if it weren't for an online forum for tl owners. Acura did not send me any type of notification about their transmission inspection before my transmission failed. If acura doesn't do something drastic about this problem soon, fatalities may occur, and regardless, i'm never buying another acura or honda again. I thought i was buying a safe, dependable car, but it looks like that is the farthest thing from what i ended up with.
My 2000 acura tl had a recall on the transmission so i took it in to be replaced.it had been two months and the car is back at the dealership in the shop for the same problem.the transmission eratically shifts and it is dangerous for me to drive this vehicle because of this ongoing problem.
The contact owns an acura 3.2tl.while driving approximately 60 mph, the transmission locked up.the vehicle vibrated excessively and was unable to shift gears properly.prior to the failure, the engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the failure was related to the transmission gear.the vehicle has not been repaired.there was a prior recall related to the transmission in september of 2005.the contact experienced identical failures as the ones mentioned in the recall.the recall notice was unknown.the failure and current mileages were 180,000.
The transmission in my 2000 acura tl is potentially affected.i would hate to have my transmission lock up the front wheels while traveling 70 mph on the interstate.
Transmission seem to vibrate severely when shifting in second geari was told that this is under recall to be fixed free of charge up too and under 100,000 miles and it is under. I was shocked to hear the complaints on this but i was not aware due to honda/acuraalways standing by there product. Please tell me what i can do i heard gear chipping can result leading to transmission lock up and possible crash which can always result as fatal!!
Transmission began to slip during normal driving, i then researched this problem on the internet and learned that this was not an isolated incident and i became concerned for my family's safety due to descriptions of other peoples history with this car. I took car to dealer and they determined that a replacement was warranted. Pcm unit was also replaced. They replaced transmission with a re-manufactured unit, old part is not available.
The contact owns a 2000 acura 3.2tl.in 2004, the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa recall number 04v176000 (power train:automatic transmission).the contact stated that the transmission has failed again three years later.acura stated that the replacement transmission was re-manufactured and they would have a case manager review her complaint.the current mileage was 160,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.
Consumer receivedrecall 04v176000 concerningautomatic transmission.mechanic performed the work, but a week later the problem recurred and had not been resolved.consumer was driving 55 mph when the check engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on.a loud clanking noise was heard coming from the front.consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer, and mechanic determined thattransmissionneeded to be replaced. Service manager bryant bomb.
My acura has been sitting for over a year because it was having transmission problems. When i called the dealership regarding it slipping from 2nd gear they told me that its not covered the extended warranty was expired by about a month. In september 2009 i sold the car and was awaiting payment for the car and before i received payment the buyer returned the car stating that it had transmission problems. I had not received any letters regarding the recall and happened to find some information about the recall in january of this year. I immediately called to file a complaint to see if the car could be fixed but i was told that it was not covered. It had been in for a checkup by the previous owners and i believe some work was done. What can i do to get them to cover the transmission it only has 100,000 miles.
While driving abs, and the ovedrive light appeared on the dashboard and remained on.consumerdrove the vehicle to the dealer, and mechanic determined that the solenoid sensor needed to be replaced.passenger side rear fender and mudd flap damaged.tread hit the 5th wheel of the trailor.the vehicle started bucking and fish tailing as tread separated from the tire in one peice. The tire did not go flat.both vehicles had to be repaired*tc
The consumer was having problems with the transmission.the owner contacted the manufacturer and was told that due to the fact that the transmission has more than 100,000 miles it was not eligible for the recall that was initiated by the manufacturer. Provide further details.
I took my car into one of the local acura dealerships because my car would downshift, and vibrate when driving. At the same time, i was informed that there was a recall on my model car for the transmission, (which i suspected the problem to be). My car was diagnosed, but told it wasn't transmission. After several instances of similar experiences i take my vehicle in to another local dealership, and state the same issue. Always told the same thing, not your transmission, now after several visits and repairs later they now diagnosed it to be my transmission. My first visit was in 2005, i was within warranty guidelines from this company, all other visits stem in feb. 2007 and around 112,000 miles. 3000 miles over the required maintenance requirement, now 6,000 miles later they say different. They offered to pay 50% as a good will gesture, but i feel all along their tech's knew, but kept putting a bandaid on the problem until now, i've had several things repaired and i don't think they could come up with anything to replace.
The contact owns a 2000 acura tl.while attempting to park the vehicle, the contact removed the key from the ignition before placing the vehicle into park.he later noticed that his vehicle had rolled down the driveway and crashed into his neighbor's landscaping.the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.prior to the failure, the contact noticed that the vehicle was becoming harder to shift.the current mileage was 123,000 and failure mileage was 118,000.
While driving on city streets, the traffic in front of the consumer came to a stop, when the consumer applied the brakes the vehicle did not shift to a lower gear and the vehicle finally fish tailed to a stop.
While there was a recall on the transmission of 200-2004 acura tls, it appears that the remedy identified by the manufacturer does not fully resolve the issue, and while the manufacturer graciously extended the warranty to cover up to 100,000 miles, the failures of the transmission as documented widely on the internet generally take place between 100 and 110 thousand miles as was the case with the transmission in my vehicle which failed at 103,000 miles. Instituting such a remedy realizing the minimal value to consumers of the remedy is simply unethical.
My transmission failed at approximately 92,000 miles.this seems to be a common event for acura tl owners.the car slipped out of gear on the road and i was forced to coast the car off to the side of the road.luckily, my transmission did not lock up as others have experienced, but the problem with these vehicles is more prevalent than the nhtsa may be aware.just do a search at any of the various acura owners' websites and you will see instances of up to 5 replaced transmissions on individual cars.*la
While driving, thevehicle's transmission down shifted without warning causing the vehicleto come to a rapid stop.the dealer diagnosed a transmission problem and performed maintenance.the consumer is now experiencing severe "slippage" of transmission when accelerating.mrthe transmission was replaced.scc
Transmission "slips" into gear at all speeds since 6/26/04 in the evening.
Two days ago, i began feeling slipping and surging in my transmission.i immediately called and scheduled a service appointment.yesterday, while driving on the highway at approximately 50 - 60 mph, my car unexpectedly downshifted to second gear, causing the car to quickly slow down without cars behind me being alerted by brake lights.there was no accident, as the cars behind me were able to avoid me.
'00 acura tl, car transmission failure.
Transmission in my 2000 acura tl will without warning drop to a lower gear locking up the drive train and send the vehicle into a skid.it happens so fast and with no brake lights a following vehicle could easily rear end my vehicle.this is a known problem with the transmission and acura should be required to fix at no cost.someone will lose their life.
2000 acura 3.2tl. Consumer states transmission defect *tgwthe consumer stated in august 2009 the transmission had to be replaced. The motor mounts had to be replaced twice. The consumer also mentioned that her two sons also have acura 3.2tl's and they too have experienced transmission and motor mounts problems.
Dt:the contact received nhtsa recall, 04v176000 concerning automatic transmission failure. Took vehicletodealership, and they stated the gearsexperienced discoloration due to overheating.according to the recall information the transmission should have been replaced.the dealership where she took the vehicle stated it did not have this problem ,and added the revision to the oil cooler return line.the malfunction indicator lamp stayedlit.the vehicle jerked before moving.also, itwill not go as soon as it was put in gear.the gear indicator light flickered on and off when this occurred.
When the consumer started the vehicle and shifted from park to reverse a loud knocking noise was heard from the front of the vehicle.the consumer drove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The consumer informed the mechanic that this vehicle was on recall.the mechanic told the consumer the vehicle was not apart of the recall.please fill in additional information.
My 2000 acura 3.2 tl out of nowhere started slipping and shifting gears while i was drivingone day. While i am driving my car the vehicle will suddenly slow down or jerk an slip after frequent stop and go's. After research i found that this is a problem in over a million acura's, and after taking it to the dealer they refuse to fix the transmission because they are saying that it is out of warranty. But to me it is a safety issue that acura should be required and obligated to fix. While driving anything could have happened to me, i the transmission caused me to have an accident who is to say whether or not i would be here rite now.
The contact owns a 2000 acura tl.the contact received recall notice # 04v176000 (power train:automatic transmission) at 65,000 miles.he took his vehicle to the dealer and they performed a revision to the oil cooler and stated that the vehicle was fine.at 105,000 miles, the transmission failed and was replaced by acura.the contact is currently experiencing failure with the vehicle, which he believes to be the transmission.he believes that one transmission is being replaced with another transmission that will fail in a couple of years.the current and failure mileages were 124,000.
Acura does not whant to replace the transmission that shoud be under warantie because they said tha the car is whith a salvage title and they dont respont to recalls or waranties of those cars.
Transmission in 2000 3.2 tl is very dangerous.going 65 mph and dropped to 2nd gear and transmission is gone.it seems there is a ton of people out there with this problem.car is not under warraty and they wont sell the parts to fix it b/c they can't make enough for acura to replace eveyone elses.they now want $6000 to fix.they can't make enough parts to supply for themselves?seems like a bunch of problems. Please recall transmission on 2000 acura tl before people get hurt.
The contact owns a 2000 acura 3.2tl.the contact stated that his transmission was replaced at 70,000 miles due to nhtsa campaign id number 04v176000 (power train:automatic transmission).there were no failures prior to the recall repair.he had it replaced because it was recommended.after the recall repair was made, the contact noticed that the transmission would skip, 'buck', and hesitate in fifth gear.the most recent failure occurred while driving approximately 40 mph.the vehicle has not yet been taken to the dealer.the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty.the current mileage was approximately 138,000 and failure mileage was approximately 130,000. Updated 11/7/08 updated 11/13/08.
Nhtsa recall 04v176000. Acura issued an automatic transmission recall. This vehicle was not included in the recall due to vin although itexperienced the same problem as those vehicles that were recalled.
The contact owns a 2000 acura tl. The drive gear on the warning panel flashed before the transmission locked and the engine stalled. He did not depress the brakes nor the accelerator pedal to cause the vehicle to skid.the contact was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer who stated that the transmission failed. The torque converter was reconditioned and repairs were made to other elements of the transmission. Later, the contact found a recall campaign similar to the failures he experienced (nhtsa campaign id number 04v176000,power train: automatic transmission). The manufacturer was contacted to seek reimbursement, however they stated that they were not liable for the failure or repairs made at the owner's expense because the previous owner already had recall repairs performed on the vehicle. He also stated that intermittently, while placing the vehicle in drive, any low gear or the park position, the gears would flash across the instrument console. The failure mileage was approximately 188,656 and the current mileage was 211,000.
Started having trans problems after extended warranty ran out. Not going into gear, harsh or no shifting, engine revs high while in gear & driving, d5 flashing. Service engine light on. Honda canada would not cover anything. Although dealer provided free diagnosis, estimated trans replacement was going to be $4000.00. Approx mileage 125,000 mi. Traded for new domestic (taurus). This well known problem should have been a recall rather than extending warranty.
2000 acura3.2 tl vin # [xxx] purchased 8/2004.2008 the ignition key could be removed with the transmission in n position. This was the first time ihad a major incident. Resultingin the car rolling into the closed garage door, causing damage to the bumper and garage door. Prior to this the car had rolled in a parking lot with the doors locked.luckily it was not on incline and i was able to open the door and brake.this problem continues to date.on investigation i found this model had a recall for this problem.i called acura and they apologized, stating it was not in the recall vin #.i took the car to an acura dealer, who verified the problem, called acura, who again stood by their original decision..not in recall vin #.the problem remains.i am extremely careful when parking to double check the car is in park, and brake on.luckily i have not caused injury to property or person, however only to myself trying to unlock a rolling car and "jump" in to stop it.following another "roll away" i called acura today...they stand by their original decision.this car may not be in their recall vin #, however, i cannot sell this autonor trade it in knowing it may cause a serious injury to someone or something. I feel acura should have corrected the problem with the initial complaint, knowing there was a recall.why do i shut the car off in n.the transmission can be used manually or automatic.when in automatic position, and shifted up to park position, it will stop at neutral, needing to be pushed to r and up to park.habit, be it bad, is when the shifter stops it is generally in park. I feel this problem is acura's, and would appreciate any assistance you can provide.yesterday i read honda is now being recalled for the same problem.thankyou.
There are many other customers who had similar failures on this vehicle. Manufacturer should issue a recall!dt
I purchased a 2000 acura 3.2 tl in april 2005. A few months ago, i began noticing my car jerking when i would back up. It was also stalling as i began to accelerate. I decided to do research on the car and i found that the transmissions were faulty. I immediately called the acura company and i was instructed to take my car to a local acura dealership and get a diagnostic check. After the diagnostic check was completed, it was called to my attention that the transmission was slipping. Acura offered to pay 25% of the cost which would have left a balance of $3000 for me to pay. I declined because i felt like they should pay the entire cost being that it was an error on their part. It was explained to me that my extended warranty had ended on the car that stemmed from a class action suit. I told them i was unaware of the suit and they replied that i should have been notified as the owner. I then called the dealership where i purchased the car. The dealership was unaware of the recall and stated they were never contacted about the recall. I called back and was given the "run around". I contacted consumer affairs. I received a letter from consumer affairs. After consumer affairs contacted acura, i received a letter from consumer affairs stating that my car was notserviced because there was another problem other than the transmission. However, this information is false- i have the diagnostic report stating that my transmission was slipping.
Acura transmission problem.
I am the owner of a 2000 acura 3.2 tl that was jerking between 2nd and 3rd gears.this past saturday on my way to work on a busy city street while driving 45 miles per hour the car abruptly downshifted and the rpm went past the 8. I was able to coast my vehicle to the side of the road and have roadside assistance to tow it to my local dealer, stevenson acura of wilmington, nc. The dealer did an inspection and advsd me since my car has over 100k, 146k to be exact i am not covered under warranty and my second gear looks good and this is not a part of the recall and i would have to pay to replace the transmission.knowing 5 other people that own the same model car and the same exact occurence has happened i find it hard to believe that this is caused by normal wear and tear, especially since i previously owned a 1998 3.2tl that had over 198k when i traded it in and experienced no transmission problems at all.based on previous complaints on your site it appears this is not an isolated incident and i feel very violated by a company that i have been so loyal to.this is absurd!!!!!
We have been experiencing transmission problems since 15,000 miles and have taken the vehicle into the dealership a number of times to fix the problem, only to hear they could not duplicate the problem. The hesitation or slipping when stepping on the gas, has gotten so bad, we are afraid to jump out in traffic. On two occasions the transmission has locked up in second gear causing us to pull over, put it in park prior to proceeding. A fair amount of internet research has revealed the a large number of tl & cl owners have experienced transmission failures. This is not acceptable for a $32, 000 car.
On my 2000 acura 3.2tl is slipping at 2nd to 3rd gear. This occurs only at low speeds. The transmisson has no failures at any other speeds or gears.
I have a 2000 acura 3.2 tl and this car had a recall for problems with transmission.i had problems with my transmission in 2004 and acura replaced the transmission.unfortunately, they replaced it with another defective transmission and now the transmission has stopped working again.acura is denying the service for my car stating its out of warraty time.since they did not fix the transmission and just replaced it with another transmission that they know will break again after xxx amount of miles, i believe it is very unfair to us the consumers.i cannot belive that manufacturers like acura can get away with things liek this.they simply put a bandaid on the problem and hoped that it will get them through the warranty period.i am hoping that you guys can do somehting about it as there are hundreds of people like me in this situation all over the internet looking for help!anything you can do to bring some attention to this matter will be greatly appreciated!
- the contact stated that while driving the2000 acura 3.2tlwith 138000 failure mileage on twoseparate occasions the vehicle began to jerk, thed5 icon started to flash on the dashboard, and the vehicle was idling at a high rate.the contacthad an appointment on3/19/07 with a mechanic.
2000 acura 3.2 tl has transmission problems.consumer believes the problem is a faulty transmission from day one and not related to the implied lack of adequate transmission maintenance. *njthe consumer stated the second transmission that was installed presented severe problems. Shifting from second gear into third gear became impossible, and the maximum speed achievable was between 20 and 25 mph.the consumer had the vehicle towed and the next day, the consumer was informed the transmission needed to be replaced.
Transmission failed twice.the consumer heard this was a result of poorly designed and poorly manufactured bearing surfaces and clutch plate surfaces in the automatic transmission.the consumer request reimbursement from the manufacturerbut they denied any responsibility.
The pcm control module malfunctioned, causing transmission to down shift at random times . Shifts while pressing the accelerator, andwithout warning the steering wheel locked up.

Takata recall and electrical system: air bag deployed right side of car electrical system malfunctioning right side before the crash. Because of deployment of right side air bag it caused the driver side air bag to be deployed. Car was exiting highway ramp when airbag deployed.documented ins estimate avail.
Problems with air bag frontal sensor / control module.*mr dealer replaced opds unit and driver's seat belt. *mjj
Srs light illuminated 5 times since january 2000. Also the driver seat belt light illuminated, the drivers seat belt was replacedsteering colum was replaced, the battery was replaced due to heavy corrosion.
Srs light comes on; dealer contacted; acura recalled notice for same problem; replaced right safety belt buckle, wiring harness and computer; light still comes on intermittently; system supposedly inoperable when light is on; dealer contacted; unable to fix problem permanently
The consumer noticed that the vehicle's seat belt buckles did not lock the belt in place. *sc

Acura tl transmission failed, new one was installed, recall issued sept 04, "fixed" transmission claims to be fine but on occasion violently downshifts, accompanied by warping brakes that acura has issued a service bulletin for, it is a serious problem.
As i was waiting in my car , for my sister to get in . All of a sudden the ab light appears on my dash board. The second incident happen soon after that , as i was driving on the freeway , my car just came out of gear and wouldn't pass 1st gear . The d5 light started to flash on my dash board also. By then i had made it to the curb of the freeway, thankfully . I was really frighten cause i had my 8 month old baby in the back seat.then it started to over heat as i was at a stop already.
Was driving on wet parkway & started to applyabs brakes slowly, the abs brakes failed to catch &vehicle hydroplaned. It hit an embankment & then spun around. Driver sustained severe injuries & was hospitalized.air bags deployed upon impact. Vehicle totaled . Only had 500 miles on it.
When pedal was applied it felt spungy and soft. While in a stop position at a light, brakes depressed.pedal fades away--to keep still, more pressure had to be applied.owner is afraid that brake failure could occur.dealer has been contacted. *ml
It doesn't.
When applying the brake from 50 mph or more in an emergency or sudden stop situation vehicle shook severely out of control. Vehicle was taken to the dealer 10 times or more. Dealercontinuously turned the front rotors or replaced them every 10,000 - 12,000 miles. Dealer was unable to give reason for this condition.
Brakes exhibited vibration during braking; appears rotors went out of round prematurely; dealership gave "1 time" goodwill gesture and machined rotors and replaced pads on front brakes at no charge.
Vehicle would accelerate due to gas & brake pedals too close when one or the other is in use. If foot not on brake pedal correctly it would unintentionally cause sudden acceleration in vehicle. Has happened twice. Took to dealership & mechanic could not find cause & indicated no mechanic problem. Master cylinder was replaced because of air found in the system.
Brakes felt spongy, pedal would sink to floor. Master cylinder found defective and replaced under warrenty.
Gas pedal hit while applying brakes with foot on brake pedal - brake pedal depresses too low and is on same level as gas pedal.
Consumer states that the brake pedal is much lower than the gas pedal and the pedal is spongy and goes to the floor when applied, the dealer stated there was nothing wrong.

Car family owned since new and serviced.the front right subframe (rear side of the two parts of the subframe cradle) rotted completely thru (passenger side) leaving hole thru and leaving control arms, steering rack detached.the rest of the frame is rot free, just this one area which is completely rotted away.a google search shows that this is not uncommon with this model acura tl and some honda accords.

I had the transmission replaced in my 2000 acura tl under the nhtsa required extended warranty. I had 63,000 miles on the car at the time. When the dealer replaced the transmission they advised me that the front motor mount was broken and asked if i wanted it fixed. I told them to replace the motor mount, at a cost of $163.43. I have owned over 17 vehicles in my lifetime and never had a broken motor mount. My wife and i are retired and do not in any way drive the car any any sort of rough manner. The car has never been any any accidents either. I question why a vehicle with only 63,000 miles on it should come up with a broken engine mount. Is this another acura defect?
2000 acura tl seems to have a design flaw that causes sub-frame corrosion. The probable cause is the a/c drain hose draining on top of the front passenger side of the sub-frame. The symptom was a 'clunk' (metal on metal type noise) when making a right-turn. I took the car to a local garage and they showed me that the passenger-side sub-frame has fallen apart due to the corrosion. I contacted acura customer care and referred to other complaints and a 2012 abc news report on this issue requesting a recall. But, they did not recognize this as a defect and failed to provide any assistance with resolving the problem since the vehicle was no longer covered under the manufacturer warranty.given the serious nature of this defect, it would seem appropriate that a recall or safety warning be issued to all owners of honda vehicles impacted by this design issue.

The front right side of the sub frame has excessive corrosion (rot) and needed to be replaced.i am the original owner and the car has been entirely dealer maintained and thoroughly inspected frequently.i discovered the corrosion while changing the front right tire.dealer informed me the car was unsafe to drive as the front right tire would eventually collapse or fall off.the problem was reported to acura and acura would not provide assistance due to the age of the vehicle.the car was repaired and i am in possession of the rotted sub-frame.other than the rotted sub-frame, the car does not exhibit any rust or corrosion.

At the time of this text, the car is at an acura service center. The interior has become soaked with water affecting the battery & possibly other components. The continuous problem, creating a damp & very wet interior, has caused mold to form everywhere inside the car, i am a severe asthmatic & this has been extremely detrimental to my health. I will be providing documentation as soon as i receive it.
Vehicle experiencing intermittent problem with enginecheck light coming on. Vehicle been in dealer shop on three occasions, and problem still reoccurring.check the engine light comes on intermittently but goes away after driving for a while.
Trasmission has had to be replaced twice. Airbag light has remained a problem since about a year after i purchased it.
I recently purchased a pre-owned 2000 acura tl over the summer and discovered that there was a notice to the owners of these vehicles in 2004 to have the 2nd gear of the transmission inspected for abnormalities due to lack of lubrication in all vehicles, and if abnormalities were discovered the transmission will be replaced, in all vehicles over 15000 miles.upon reading this, and discovering my vehicle was not inspected, i made an appointment with an acura dealer to have this issue investigated.when they looked at the transmission they were instructed to install a kit to improve the lubrication.they also informed me that because the previous owner had some work performed on the transmission, on a different part that acura had problems with previously, that they would not inspect the 2nd gear for abnormalities, even though they foundshavings in the transmission fluid.this decision to halt the inspection was made by acura corporate despite pleas from the dealership service men, myself and family members.this vehicle has an increased chance of having a transmission lock up, potentially creating a car accident and has an increased potential of loss of life.the service i received from acura corporate in the handling of this matter i feel was completely unsatisfactory, even though the dealership servicemen gave an excellent effort for great service.

When it rains my car is supposed to drain water out but, the drainage hose is not long enough so the water goes on my cars carpet,i tried to install a hose but it is not long enough,i couldn't find the right size hose, the water is damaging the floor of my car.
Dt:the consumer stated that he owns a 2000 acura tl. He stated while driving, the acceleratorbecame stuck and caused an accident. The consumer has heard of other complaints such as a acura mdx with the same engine. Both vehicle was in the body shop at the same time for the same problem. The consumer stated that he had both feet on the brake and he still could not stop the vehicle, the only reason why he stopped was because he hit a tree.
2000 acura tl. Consumer states unintended acceleration causing a crash. *tgwas the consumer backed out from a parking space and proceeded to drive, the vehicle accelerated out of control with fierce force and speed and spun around in circles several times. Finally, the vehicle hit a post in the parking lot. The momentum caused the consumer to hit two parked cars. The police were called, however they had no authority to investigate since the accident happened on private property. An inspection of the vehicle was ordered, but nothing was found wrong.
Recently, even when driving at about 35 miles an hour and came to a crossroad and braked, the car kept accelarating. Despite having the brakes pressed the car was behaving like a wild bronco. Even when i shifted the automatic gear to park, the engine was racing. After i put of the ignition & then re-started, the problem disappeared.
While driving the vehicle's transmission failed. The vehicle was on the highway when the incident occurred.the vehicle felt like it was thrown violently forward and caused the rear of the vehicle to rise. *sc
While traveling at approximately 70 mph onhighway vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own, going up to 110 mph and would have continued higher.consumer had to stand onbrakesto getvehicle to slow down to 70 mph, when she turnedvehicle off. Dealership informedconsumer that throttle plate could have caused this defect, and that componentwas currently on backorder.please provide any additional information/attachments.

Rear view mirror leakthe rear view mirror ruptured and leaked a black corrosive liquid that ate into the console plastic. Their seams to be a weird chemical smell in the car now from the leak.
Inside rearview mirror leaked fluid on console and clothing. Fluid resembles tar but destroyed the plastic console.
The contact owns a 2000 acura tl. While attempting to park the vehicle the contact stated that the rear view mirror suddenly exploded. The dealer was not notified of the failure.the manufacturer was aware of the failure.the vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The current and failure mileage was 50,000.
Toxic fluid leaking from rear view mirror, dripped onto center console and melted plastic parts in the interior of the vehicle.
The rear view mirror in 2000 acura tl failed.when it failed, it leaked some corrosive liquid onto the gear shift of my car.as far as i can tell, this failure was caused by heat as it occurred on a hot day.acura has done nothing to correct the problem and it seems to be happening to quite a few cars (http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78061&highlight=rear+view+mirror).
2000 acura tl mirror leaked fluid on interior of my vehicle's console. Not sure what caused the problem but my mirror is now blurry. Now for some reason everytime i get in my car and drive my right eye starts to hurting. Once i'm out and in fresh air it feels fine. I've noticed on forums online that this seems to be a recurring problem and some have complained of different health issues also.
Came out to my car this a.m. To find that rearview mirror has gone black/dark grey, obstructing rear vision.only small oval area remains clear.
My 2000 acura 3.2 tl has a failing rear view mirror, leaking fluid into the interior of the car. From searching i understand that this is a common problem with the auto dimming mirrors manufactured by magna donnelly corp installed on various makes and models of cars. It also appears that the chemicals leaking may be toxic, though the manufacturer has not released the ingredient contents publicly. If you search google for "leaking rear view mirror" you can see this is a fairly common problem.i believe the health consequences need to be examined and if detrimental to health a forced recall should be issued.
The contact owns a 2000 acura 3.2 tl. The contact stated that when activating the air conditioner, no air would blow from the vents. Upon further inspection, he found that the electrical connector was melted and causing the failure. The contact repaired the vehicle by replacing the connector and blower motor. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.updated 9/27/11 the consumer stated the electrical connector burned and melted as well as the fan. Updated 10/07/11
No apparent external damage (apart from a tiny grain-of-sand size indentation that could be part of the crack itself. No recollection of being struck by a stone. Location of crack near air vent at driver lower side suggests temperature change: defroster or a/c may have caused the crack.
Yesterday, 8/18/13, our auto darkening rear view mirror leaked a black liquid that melted the plastic console under it. The liquid could not have been on the console for more than 45 minutes as the rear view mirror went from being clear when we arrived to a shopping center, to a distorted view when we were leaving. Searching google, ??2000 acura tl rear view mirror leak,?? i found many instances of this happening to others. I also found that the substance is toxic (perhaps as many as 6 compounds including mercury). In some cases these mirrors have exploded throwing black toxic goo on passengers and the interior. Some have reported getting ill from exposure. Needless to say, i removed the mirror. What i can??t understand is that these mirrors have not been recalled, not just because the liquid ruins the interior of the car, but it??s dangerous as a health hazard well. I believe this type mirror was used for many years before and after my car was manufactured. Yes, this is a 13 year old car. We purchased it new and it remains in near perfect condition with under 30,000 miles on it. It now has partially dissolved console.
The contact owns a 2000 acura tl. The contact stated that the rearview mirror leaked a toxic substance (over six months ago) over the seat and onto the plastic surrounding the gear shifter. There was an odor in the vehicle and the substance left a burn mark on the contact. The substance also burned a hole through the plastic next to the gear shift and on the leather seat. Acura stated that they would not be responsible because the vehicle was older. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the mirror needed to be replaced, but would not do the repair for free. The failure mileage was 197,000.
2000 acura 3.2 tl rear view mirror defect.the 2000 acura 3.2 tl comes equipped with a auto-dimming rearview mirror manufactured by the magna donnelly corporation. This mirror began leaking a dark fluid recently which has been known to be toxic. From my research this appears to be a widespread problem in which mirrors eventually explode and can spray this toxic fluid into the eyes and mouth.
Rear view mirror image distorted, blurred, and not reflective of the actual distance/separation from following vehicles.also occurred on my 1999 acura 3.2tl.
The rearview mirror in my 2000 acura tl exploded and a black liquid sprayed throughout the interior of my car. It corroded a large hole through my center console (which was replaced by acura/honda at no charge), damaged my leather seats and carpet (which acura/honda refused to replace, but did perform a thorough cleaning of both...the dealer invoice stated mercury leak), and also prompted the replacement of my rearview mirror (which was also replaced by acura/honda at no charge).just imagine...if chemicals are toxic enough to corrode a hole through your center console, what effect do those chemicals have on you when inhaled?
I have the defective interior rear view mirror as reported by many others. A large clear bubble appeared at the top of the mirror glass and the rest of the mirror is tinted and the vision distorted.after reading many complaints of other owners experiencing this problem i contacted acura. They informed me that this problem was the fault of the oem equipment manufacturer, magna donnelly.i contacted them and they informed me that they are no longer replacing these defective mirrors. I also learned from research that the fluid that leaks from these mirrors can cause serious health problems.i believe a recall should be in effect to replace these dangerous mirrors.
Oil in rear view mirror exploded and splattered on both front seats of the car. Luckily it happened overnight when i was not driving the car or it could have created a traffic accident.dealer was not surprised apparently happened in quite a few instances.
On a very hot day, i entered my car to discover a black oil substance that melted around my gear shift. Looked in my rear-view mirror and it was very blurry, then looked underneath and saw where the substance came out of the mirror. It also splash on my leather seats.acura dealership said it was liquid crystal that is used to dim the mirror. He said it would not be covered due to the mileage and year. (maybe if it was 50k miles or less) which didn't make much sense to me. He said normally it will make a brown line at the bottom of the mirror (which mine has).. This lead me to believe this problem is not so uncommon.
The side view mirror are creating a large blind spot particularly the right mirror resulting in poor visibility.nlm
Left rearview mirror by design is mounted at eye level obscuring the drivers vision to the left when making left hand turns, the right mirror also obscure vision but to a lesser degree.nlm.
Rear view mirror leaked corrosive fluid on center console.
I have the defective interior rear view mirror as reported by many others. A large clear bubble appeared at the top of the mirror glass and the rest of the mirror was tinted for a day, and the vision distorted. After reading many complaints of other owners experiencing this problem i contacted acura. They informed me that this problem was the fault of the oem equipment manufacturer, magna donnelly. I contacted them and they informed me by email that they are no longer replacing these defective mirrors as of jan 1, 2008.i may have injested the fluid that leaked from the mirror, as my coffee cup was in the holder, near wear the fluid destroyed dripped onto and destroyed my console.i am worried that the fluid is toxic, some reports on acura's engine state that it contains mercury.nobody will tell me what the fluid consists of.i believe a recall should be inacted to replace these dangerous mirrors with the solid (non-leak) replacement.the fluid does not wash off hands easily, and stains leather as well.i seem to have developed cold/flu-like symptoms since the incident - could just be a cold but who knows.
The contact owns a 2000 acura 3.2 tl. The contact stated that while cleaning the rear view mirror with a glass cleaning solution, she noticed that the mirror began leaking unusual fluids. The contact was concerned with the potential health risks of the unknown fluids. The contact confirmed that the owners manual recommended cleaning the mirror with water only. No repairs were made to the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were unknown. The vin was not available.
I took my 2000 acura tl into the dealership to have the transmission replaced under the extended warranty.when i picked it up from the dealership 3 days later there was a dividing line in the top of the mirror.above the line and the mirror is clear, below the line the mirror is tinted.there appears to be fluid that has leaked out from in between two pieces of glass (one being the actually mirror glass and the other being a second layer a glass that traps this fluid.i have to keep something in the car to keep the liquid from dripping on the interior of the car, because it is my understanding that this fluid will destroy plastic and leather.i have contacted the mirror's manufacturer magna-donnelly, inc.i hope they will send me a free replacement mirror and that my interior is not ruined before the replacement arrives.
The contact owns 2000 acura tl.the vehicle was traveling at an unknown speed rate.the contact observed that the interior rear mirror was covered three quarters with a black residue.the authorized dealer was notified of the defect.the vehicle has not been repaired at this time.the failure mileage was 90,000.the current mileage 150,000.
Throughout the last week, i have attempted to contact someone at magna donnelly on several occasions regarding the following matter. As of 1:33 pm (est) on saturday, november 12, 2005, i have not yet received a response from anyone at magna donnelly. Additionally, each time that i have called magna donnelly at corporate headquarters in troy, michigan, at (616) 786-7000, i am always prompted to a voice mail selection. I have left numerous voice mails for vp's carlos mazzorin and lian lynam and the corporate relations dept, and sent e-mails to [email protected] and [email protected] have reported to them that my 13-year-old daughter and i were recently exposed to the chemical substance used in magna donnelly's auto dim rear-view mirror manufactured between 1990-2000. The rear-view mirror in my 2000 acura tl recently stopped working after a black oil-based substance (with a green tint to it) began leaking all over my center console, front leather seats, and carpeted interior. This chemical substance has corroded my center consoles woodgrain interior and the silver plate surrounding my gear shift.i live in south florida and the national poison control center has instructed me to seek information from magna donnelly on the chemicals used in their rear-view mirrors manufactured between 1990-2000. According to the national poison control center, if this substance is, in fact, toxic, it could be quite lethal when inhaled...especially, in the hot florida sun. I have always been a very health, athletic female, but recentlydeveloped a constant low-grade fever, a kidney infection, and blood in my urine. If this substance can burn a hole through my gear shift plate, is it possible that the toxic fumes have affected my health and the health of my daughter? acura's headquarters stated that this information is not available to the public.
Contacted dealer today to see if they can repair. No safety defect listed within summary.
