Takata recall.on memorial day weekend i returned my car to hooman acura in van nuys, ca. On van nuys blvd.on the phone, i was told the policy was to hold the returned cars at the dealer, i would be given a rental voucher, and that i would be called when the repair was made.at the dealer, i was told that hooman was not taking the recalled vehicles, could not provide a date by which the fix would be made, but would provide me a rental car which i had to get that day by noon. I would have to take the recalled acura back to my house.the complaint is regardingthe false vehicle/retention/storage agreement which i am attaching to this complaint. In sum,the agmt says that it is the policy of honda to retain the subject vehicle until parts are in to effect the repair.but the people at the dealer tell you that hooman dealership does not (and no dealer)retains the recalled vehicle. Yet the agmt that the dealer wants the customer to sign says that customer "wishes to retain the vehicle"which is clearly not my wish.bottom line, they won't take the recalled car that you drive in. The customer hasto: 1) bring two people--one to drive the rental and one to drive the rejected and unsafe car back, 2) have a space to park an additional car--which i don't, and 3)the dealer can't provide any date by which you can get the car fixed--so you can't even pay to store the recalled car yourself .the certification falsely says that the customer understands that retaining the recalled vehicle "deviates from honda requirements". But that is false.the dealer tells the customer it won't take the recalled car pending repair regardless of what the customer wants and that the customer must store and arrange to get the car home .

Driving down steep "s" turn in mountains when battery cable disconnected and all of car's systems shut down.no brakes, no steering, no power.worst part was that doors locked and we could not unlock them nor the windows.extremely frightening.there was no cell phone service where we were.if not for forest ranger who came along, because of car being partly into one of the lanes of this two-lane road, we would have roasted to death.nobody else stopped in spite of "help" signs.there was no inside manual exit from car.ranger had to jiggle and hold battery connection until we could unlock car.we were just lucky we weren't either going faster or in area with no mountain to the side of us where we might have gone off cliff.we were on a dangerous curve and were scared to death someone would hit us from behind.rangers and one of us directed traffic until tow truck arrived 1-1/2 hrs later.the battery was only a couple months old.tow truck said wrong battery had been installed at time of change and that it "popped" the clamps that ensure connection and a charge on the battery.but losing a battery connection shouldn't mean someone is going to lose their life!we had four people in the car, and we all feel we barely escaped.
The contact owns a 2006 acura rl. The contact stated that when attempting to start the vehicle it would not start. He has a keyless start and when he pushes the start button and nothing would happen. The vehicle was able to start after a mechanic came out and jump started the battery. This failure has occurred on a intermittent basis for 5 years. The dealer informed the contact that he needed to replace the battery, and that it keeps failing due to the battery being too small for the electrical load that it has to handle. The battery was replaced, but the failure still continued to occurred. The manufacturer was also contacted and they advised him to drive his vehicle more often than he does so that he can recharge it self. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
In 2008 i bought a 2006 acura rl that after 8 months caught fire while is parked overnight, the fire inspector deemed electrical due to faulty electric in door channel overhead. I subsequently bought another of the same acura rl 2006 as of 6 weeks ago the air conditioning system was faulty and by the acura dealer deemed electrical. Now the same car when i started last week had all the electrical warning lights come on , acura told me ut was a low battery so once i replaced the battery immediately now i receive a cooling system warning and the temp gauge goes up and down.
I have had some issues with my 2006 rl.i have gone out to start the engine and numerous times especially during cold weather it will not start and i have had to jump it.i have taken this to 2 different acura dealerships and have had the battery replaced 3 times.it has done it about 12 times during the time of november 2012- march2013.i feel that this is an ongoing issue and it needs to be addressed.i some out to either go to work or leave work and will have to jump start the car.also my other complaint is with the air conditioning unit. I have the 06 rl and my father in law has a 05 rl and during the middle of the summer of 2012 both air conditioning units went bad at the same time and i am wondering what the issue is with that.

Front passenger door lock actuator was replaced less than two years ago.the exact same problem with the same door lock has reoccurred.the locked door will not open when the door handle is touched nor will the driver side door lock control lock or unlock the front passenger door. While driving the actuator is constantly trying to lock the doors but it doesn't work.i have seen other similar problems with this vehicle during my on-line research. I contacted the acura dealer that repairedand replaced the original actuator but was told that the part warranty is 1 year.
On 4 occasions since buying car in 2006 reported that intermittently car lurched forward when lifting foot off brake. Dealershipfound no defects on 4 separate checks. Aug 13had thissudden acceleration' occur in heavy traffic. Totalled car, damaged 4 others.
I purchased a 2006 acura rl in february of this year. On my way home, i stopped at a rest stop. When i returned to the car, i couldn't turn the ignition switch.i had to call the dealer to find out that the steering wheel locks with the wheels in any position and the driver has to relieve the pressure on the lock before the switch will turn. Luckily, i was parked in a parking lot and not in some hazardous location that required that i immediately move. I have experienced this in other automobiles but only when the wheels were turned all the was to the stop. I have a friend that owns a late model toyota camry with the same problem. He wants to get rid of the car because of this safety issue. Now that i know how to correct the problem, i am not worried for myself but if someone else were to drive the car, they could be in trouble.

Car suddenly died at 2500 miles, was towed to dealer, engine oil pump not installed properly at factory, took over 7 weeks for new car/replacement car to arrive, rental car fees not reimbursed despite reassurances from manufacturer and dealer.
Projector headlights are often pointed far too low and make it extremely difficult to see in normal city conditions, highway conditions however especially on backroads. According to an online forum for other acura owner's, this is a common problem that factory standards do not correct.
Headlights randomly quit working creating hazard driving at night and inclement weather. Sometimes one side and then randomly both lights discontinue working. According to owners on acura owner website/forum, this is a common issue.
While driving at night, on numerous occasions the right headlight would flicker intermittently and then go out completely. You have to turn headlight switch off and then back on for the headlight to come back on. I have concerns for me and my family's safety.

Please investigate for a possible recall order on this make and model, thank you.
While driving at night headlights do not illuminate the road far enough ahead, creatingdangerous driving cituations, acura dealership(3 times) and acura help center tell me this is a "characteristic" of this model. This is not acceptible, as the vehicle is a hazard to drive at night. Please help as i believe acura is ignoring a engineering mistake and calling it a charactristic!
Torque converter failure with 61000 miles. Slippage and rumble noted at 45mph and 1550 rpms. Lurches at turns from stopped position.

2006 acura rl makes a metal to metal noise when braking at low speeds. **no answer required***the vehicle was taken tot he dealer who determined that the noise was a normal characteristic of the brake pads in the 2006 rl because the brake pad composition had been redesigned.the dealer told the consumer that the manufacturer is aware of the problem.

Michelin recently discontinued the manufacturing of the pax system worldwide and will no longer offer it. There is also special training, certifications and equipment required to install or repair pax tires. The absence of adequate repair facilities and pax system stock has resulted in consumers having to travel long distances and/or being required to wait days to obtain repair to damaged tires, replacement tires and/or the pax systems themselves. The problems that consumers are experiencing with the pax system likely will worsen now that michelin has abandoned the pax system.what is the american honda motor company?s recommended alternative for pax system equipped vehicle owners that need new tires?
The contact owns a 2006 acura rl.the contact stated that the vehicle comes equipped with two different cruise control modes:standard and radar (acc).while driving 70 mph in the acc mode, the vehicle accelerates when he removes his foot from the accelerator pedal.when the pedal is depressed, the vehicles decelerates.this has been an ongoing failure since the vehicle was purchased in january of 2006.one year and three months later, acura finally sent someone to test drive the vehicle and videotape the failure.acura acknowledges the failure, but does not know how to remedy the failure.the dealer offered him a new vehicle without the cruise control feature, however the contact feels that is unacceptable.the dealer also tested the 2007 rl and found that the vehicle has the same defect.presently, acura has failed to offer any further assistance. The current mileage is 11,700 and failure mileage was 250.updated 06/14/07
