I have a 2013 acura rdx.i was notified sometime between april and june that my vehicle was going to recalled to replace one or more air bags.i have tried a number of times since then to request the replacement but have been told that the part was not available.i am very concerned about this issue because i am on blood thinner and an injury from a defective air bag could easily be life threatening to me.i am trying to find someone to help me get this replacement since acura does not seem interested.i would appreciate any help you can provide.my name is [xxx], my address is [xxx], and my phone is[xxx]or [xxx].thank you.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
"takata recall" - rec'd recall notice march 2016 from acura indicating airbags would become available summer 2016. Called macchurchill acura dealer july 20, 2016 to schedule appt and advised they would place an order for airbag but takes 3 to 6 months to receive. Obviously airbags were not available as their march letter indicated. As of this date, oct 13, 2016, an airbag still not available and i am forced to drive with a possible deadly airbag. Their offer of rental does not qualify as an acceptable replacement. I am not satisfied with acura's handling of my airbag and can't believe this would be acceptable time table for any such recall. I would appreciate any help or pressure you can provide on getting an airbag for my car. Takata recallsince being initally notified by acura of honda march 2016, i have had no communication nor repair by honda, despite several calls to the dealer. Dealer simply repeats that he has not received the required parts from honda/acura to repair this defect, despite acura's own description of the problem as being potentially dangerous, with possible injury or even death resulting. The initial notification noted that parts would be available summer of 2016, but as we near the end of july, absolutely nothing from honda/acura, though long past the 60 days described as a 'reasonable time period' for the repair.

Keyless ignition button allows drivers to turn the engine off and left the vehicle while the shift is not in parking. In my case, the vehicle rolls and almost had an accident.
My new 2013 rdx caught on fire at my garage in the day after hurricane sandy. Acura and auto insurance company(progressive) insists that the car caught on fire by flooding. However, car battery and engine are fine. Only front seat, dashboard, and navigation system were burned and the fire damaged my garage too. Furthermore it does not make sense that flooding caused fire at all. I showed my rdx to acura technicians, but silent. Isn't it a defect of new model?
The brand new car was on fire by itself on october 30, 2012.it was after the hurricane sandy.my family woke up because of smelling gas from downstairs which was the attached garage to the kitchen.when my husband opened the kitchen door to the garage, he couldn't see anything but smokes.we called 911 and found out there was fire inside of the car.the fire started internally and spread out to the garage.there was sign of water that got into the garage.however, when fire fighter opened the garage door, there was no water in the garage.the front of the car was fine.the driver's seat area and the navigator area was totally melted down.there was no power in our town since october 29, 2012.the car windows(side and the top) were open by itself.i do not understand how the car caused fire by itself.there were thousands of cars but i did not hear the flood caused the fire which was parked inside of the garage.the car was brand new and had a temperate plate.there is no smoker in my family.
Operation of gps voice activation system causes significant drive distraction and is potentially dangerous.friends with the same model have the same problem.specifics of problem is listed below in communicationwith honda.this is problem is so potentially dangerous my wife and i don't use the system any more.in conversations with honda they won't recognize the safety aspect of the problemsee [email protected]:i currently own two acura vehicles, a 2008 tl and a 2013 rdx.i have owned a total of 4 acura vehicles and there are currently 5 honda vehicles in my immediate family. I believe you manufacture an superior product with the exception of what i consider a serious design flaw in the 2013 rdx.i have an advanced aerospace engineering degree from mit and currently work in the advanced technology development arena. And i speak english fluently (native language).problem:trying to activate the navigation system (places mode) when the vehicle is in motion is at best user unfriendly and potentially dangerous.my wife and i have engaged in several training exercises since we purchased the vehicle at the end of september; all have resulted in frustration and failure to achieve the desired result.(training consists of trying to use the system on a familiar route to a known location.) as you know, in this mode, the driver must spell the desired location in order to engage the system.yesterday, the system couldn't recognize the letter ?e,? the most commonly used letter in the english language.my attention was constantly diverted from the road to trying to make an audio input that the system could understand then looking at the screen to select a numbered verification of the letter. This scenario took about 10 minutes for a 6 letter word.unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When vehicle is between 2nd and 3rd gear going at a consistent speed there is a vibration.vibration goes away upon acceleration.it does this as well between 4th & 5th gear.after 55mph it doesn't happen.called crest acura and was told that it is the "deactivation of cylinders and that is what it is supposed to do."i then took the vehicle to my mechanic who stated it should not do that.took vehicle to crest acura on 2/13/14 to address the blue tooth that is awful and had a technician ride with me to feel the vibration.the tech said there have been other complaints regarding the vibration but acura has not come up with a fix for it.he stated he had a call into acura.i was told once again that it is normal for the vehicle to do that by the service manager.the bluetooth complaint is:i can hear fine with it but people cant hear me.they replaced the bluetooth microphone on 2/21/14 but it did not fix the problem.i would like acura to address these 2 issues as i am not the only acura rdx customer to have these issues.a vehicle of this caliber should not vibrate!

Both headlights are too dim to safely drive at night.i was pulled over by a state trooper for not having my lights on when they were actually on.acura has a recall for this issue on the 2014 ilx.the 2013 rdx should also be included in this recall.
It is a commonly known (with consumers) problem, that manufacturers choose to ignore. I have a 2013 acura rdx, that i bought new in december 2012. The vehicle has never been in any type of accident. The vehicle has always been maintained by myself, or an acura/honda dealership. My problem are the headlights. I can not see much with them anymore. I have never put any aftermarket led type or other bulbs, nor have they ever been altered in any way. I replaced the bulbs (with oem style) thinking it was the bulbs themselves, with the same results. In any inclement weather, especially rain, or with oncoming traffic, i see less. I understand oncoming traffic will lessen what a driver sees, but this is beyond normal. The lenses on my vehicle are also clear (not yellow from years of sunlight exposure). The vehicle is always garage-kept, when at home. From my research, the headlight reflectors inside the housing, deteriorate. This causes very little light to reflect in the right direction. If this is considered "wear and tear", i would fix this issue myself. But to me, i feel that this a terrible design, that acura should fix. My inability to see while driving, is a hazard. I continue to maintain my vehicle as required. I have a different vehicle that was bought new, in 2003 and now has 230k miles, no problems. I maintain my vehicles well!i don't feel that i should have to pay several thousands to have the headlights fixed on my acura, or to trade the acura in, as a reason to get rid of a known issue. I have invested in the acura, to keep it running at its best. When i bought the acura, my plan was to keep it for 15 years or more, if possible. I am doing my part, as much as i can. I reached out to acura, with no help. My only hope, is that this issue is investigated, and for acura to help me with this safety design flaw.thank you in advance gabriel colo
The front low beam headlights are extremely dim.can typically only see approximately 30 feet in front while driving. Any speed in excess of 25mph is dangerous.high beams work fine.there are no fog lights on this vehicle.
Even after replacement the headlights are dangerously dim. It appears that the projectors are blocking the light.
The reflective surface inside the headlight assemblies has delaminated. This effectively makes the headlights useless and creates a very unsafe driving condition at night. I reported the issue to acura's national customer service number but they did nothing but record the call. This is a known issue with acura as they have done recalls on other year and model combinations. This is clearly a very serious latent manufacturing and safety issue that needs immediate attention. A simple google search will reveal many owners talkin about this on internet forums.
The low-beam headlights are so dim at night that it is extremely dangerous to drive. One can only see several feet in front of the car.i understand other years of acura rdx's have a defect, and were subject to a recall, involving the reflective material in the headlight assembly.that material would degrade over time, making the lights dim.i have replaced the bulbs themselves, but that has not improved the situation.
The contact owns a 2013 acura rdx. The contact stated that the headlights failed to illuminate properly.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 22,000.
The contact owns a 2013 acura rdx. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle at night, the low-beam headlights failed to properly illuminate the roadway and was extremely dim causing a visibility hazard to the driver. The light bulbs were replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the priority acura located at 1701 s military hwy, chesapeake, va 23320 who diagnosed that the headlight assembly reflector was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.
The contact owns a 2013 acura mdx. The contact stated that he attempted to check the transmission fluid but burned himself in the process. The contact notified the dealer and they stated that the vehicle was manufactured that way and there was nothing that they could do. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 1,300.
I am having issues with when you accelerate, the trans jerks & flutters, which is quite dangerous when trying to merge into traffic. I would like this checked into & something done about it, as i love my car, but that is a danger not only me & my family but others as well. There is also a loud clanging noise in the rear, like shocks. I do not live or go down bumpy dirt roads or messed up roads with pot holes. But for my car to be this new, it should not have bad shocks already. As this is concern of mine & by reading others as well.
Around 58,000 miles transmission started hesitating, jerking. Happens while starting from a dead stop, in turns,at highway speed, while passing/accelerating and also on cruise. Acura and dealer both aware and say "engineers are working on a software fix" (it has been months). Has gotten to the point scared to pass a vehicle or make a quick turn. Dealer admits something is wrong but cannot find anything. Am hearing complaints from other rdx owners.
Vehicle violently is thrown back when stepping on accelerator at speeds below 40 miles per hour causing extreme safety issues when merging or trying to accelerate slightly. Acura has initially stated that this is related to a tsb that causes a judder in the vehicle and near term solution is to change transmission fluid 3 times on every occasion this occurs. Acura states that a longer term fix will be a software update. In the interim, there is a very unsafe feeling being in the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2013 acura rdx. The contact stated that after securing the vehicle into park and exiting, the vehicle suddenly began to roll away at a speed of approximately 10 mph. The vehicle crashed into another parked vehicle before traveling across an intersection and crashing into a hot dog stand. There were no injuries. A police report was not filed of the incident. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not inspected to determine the cause of the failure. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number 13v143000 (power train) but did not confirm with the manufacturer if the vehicle was included in the recall campaign. The failure mileage was 10,400.

My trucks headrests are tilted so far forward that it causes significant pain in my neck. They came this way from the factory. I have to turn the headrest around to relieve the pain, which then exposes me to an even higher risk of whiplash. You idiots at nhtsa who changed the regulations so that car manufacturers had to build them this way need to repeal the law.

The brakes make a high-pitched squeal when at low speeds with light pressure on the brakes. Mostly occurs going down a slope(parking garage), down a driveway, and sometimes randomly while driving on flat roads. The brakes on the acura rdx continue to squeal after being "fixed" twice. In the dealer-performed services, the brakes were replaced and the rotors were resurfaced. When contacting the dealer about the issue again, the dealer stated that acura was working on a solution. When contacting acura client relations, they advised me to speak to my dealership which was no help.

Very rough ride making clunking noise took car to acura dealer july 23, 2014 they said they replaced both rear shocks that there was a faulty part that was recalled. Took the car back approximately 2 months laterbecause was having the same issue ( rough ride feel every bump in the road, they said one of the rear shocks was leaking fluid . They replaced both back shocks again . Took the car back a few days later cause it didn't seem fixed , they told me thy checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong . Took the car back today october 20, 2014 told them to check it everywhere real good to find out what is wrong with itwaiting on response from the dealer .
Premature failure (50k miles) of rear shock absorbers.results in extremely rough ride and potential handling problem.
I am a very careful driver who drives mostly local driving. Without any warning i suddenly started hearing a knocking sound coming from by back drivers side. Then noticing a rough drive and hard knocking sound when driving even over small bumps in the road. I had to replace the back shocks! which was quit expensive!! my car only has 55 thousands miles. I find that to be very unusual on a 5 years old car with on 55 thousand miles. Is this normal
Update to original complaint, acura dealer said they could not find anything wrong with my car in october 2014, had me test drive a 2015 acura rdx to compare the ride to mine. Taking car back again this week january 7th 2015. Car ride is unacceptable to me !!! i feel it is riding even worse than it was in october when they said they couldn't find anything wrong.i feel every smallbump in the road and when i have to go over a slightly bigger bump or pull up in a driveway i hear a hollow clunking sound. Overall rough ride. Very disappointed.
The contact owns a 2013 acura rdx. While driving approximately 40 mph,the contact heard an abnormal clunking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle after driving over a small pothole. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear dampers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred.
