The certified pre-owned (cpo) 2017 acura mdx i purchased ion 07/24/20 from davis acura in langhorne, pa should not be classified as a cpo! i paid my automotive repair shop of 20 years that maintained my lexus suvs to do their own 83-point detailed inspection on the acura mdx.i was shocked in their reporting wheel alignment needed - recommended left rear tire edge wear & body ' evidence of previous accident damage to rear bumper, right front door, left side doors, left rear quarter panel & left front fender. I was informed that at least 50% of suv has been repainted & there was dirt underneath the paint. Was this formerly leased suv in an accident that went unreported with clean carfax and auto check reports?the left door exterior chrome door handle was also replaced by dealership but no reason is listed as to why replaced. There are now issues with: exposed airbag ' is itthe original or was it replaced?; tire pressure varies (+/- 7 or 8 ) in the rear left tire that has been looked at by my local acura dealer two times in one week & the 3rd visit will be to replace the tpms sensors in a car with only 16,000 miles?; the defroster is not fully working in the left passenger window and the misalignment of the lift gate is a concern because it prevents the a/c or heat from working effectively in the 2nd & 3rd row, there is rain water sitting on the inside of the suv that remains for hours. Could it mold or cause damage to the rear electric lighting components? how does the lift gate trunk door misalign if it wasn't in an accident? if the lift gate trunk door is misaligned, why was this suv sold as a cpo & not used? i do not feel comfortable driving the suv. I have yet to receive a call back by phone from acura dealership owner in 4 weeks and/or from the acura customer care specialist in the last 10 days about my case filed. Can nhtsa inspect suv for damage & repainting?
Rear back up camera has up to 1 minute delay in activating when i selected reverse.also delays the safety systems associated with it like cross traffic warnings and collision avoidance.
Loses power and unable to accelerate while driving at higher speeds. Has happened 4 times in 2 months
Since christmas, the vehicle has had 8-10 occurrences in which the electrical system is going haywire. The instrument panel lists errors and code failures. And the vehicle cannot even be shut off. There is no cruise control when this occurs, and many of the 'add' on safety components (lane assist/etc) do not work.we stopped by the dealer last month, and they couldn't find any stored codes. Yesterday after my wife drove 6 hours home from detroit, with no cruise control and the issues occurring, she stopped back at the dealer. They took it in, as they believe there is a short in the abs system. They provided a loaner as they rectify the problem. Issues began around 2500 mile mark for mileage. Veh has 4500 miles on it currently.
The contact owns a 2017 acura mdx. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, several unknown warning lights illuminated and the vehicle started to shudder. The contact also stated that the gear shifter was unable to shift into park. The vehicle was taken to john eagle acura (16015 katy fwy, houston, tx 77094) where it was diagnosed with the ignition coil circuit cable needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
Sudden unexpected breaking of vehicle. The vehicles collision avoidance system kicked in and breaked from 30 mph to a complete stop for no reason. There was no vehicle or object in front of my vehicle. Clear dry day. Traveling on a 4 lane local roadway. The consumer stated the dealership advised the e-z pass toll transponder, which is placed at the top of the windshield, caused an interference with the collision avoidance system. The consumer found that difficult to believe.
When pulling forward from a stop into a car wash, the zf 9-speed transmission dropped into neutral without warning, causing the vehicle to lose all ability to move forward. When this happened, all warning lights on the dash illuminated, including stability control, airbags, check engine, lane departure, and frontal collision system, and the digital display flashed through every component on the car saying there were system failures in them all. The immediate remedy was to stop, place the vehicle in park and shut off the engine. When re-started the vehicle was able to be driven, but all system failure lights and warning lights on the dash and digital display remained illuminated.
Speed control would not engage. This has happened before. Auto brakes engaged while driving down city street at 40 mph in outside lane of 4 lane road. No cars in front or immediately to my left. Fortunitly there were no cars/trucks behind me. Car came to suddened stop engaging the seat belts. After stopping i put put on gas again and drove 2 more blocks before i parked car for 2+ hours. Called dealership & drove to service department for repair.dealer kept car overnight and said there were no issues they could find by driving or checking diagnostic computer records. So there was nothing they could do. These electrical issues have appeared and could not be duplicated in the past 20 months......1 - suddended emergency braking - 1x, speed control not engaging - 3 times, passenger side mirror not closing - 10+ times, car locking or not unlockingdoors with key inside car - 3 times. Once will at airport and with car running.
I own a 2017 acura mdx.the vin is [xxx].on sunday january 13, 2019 my wife was pulling into our drive way when she noticed smoke coming from under the hood.she got our kids out of the car just before the car burst into flames.it?s amazing no one was hurt.the car, however, is completely destroyed.the fire destroyed our other car in the driveway, the garage door, the gutters, windows, the front door and a large part of the roof.all four tires exploded and flaming pieces of rubber went all over our home and drive way.the car left an oil stain across our entire driveway. The car was still under the one year manufacture end to end warranty.the only service ever performed on the vehicle was done at john eagle acura in katy, texas.we purchased the service package from john eagle acura which cost roughly $300.00 and was a complete waste of money.the car had no warnings and had no indication of a service engine soon notice.the car was reduced to smoking rubble.the car is a pile of broken glass and ashes. Thank you.
We have experienced many issues with our 2017 mdx sh-awd.on a cold start when shifting from first to second gear there is a sudden lurch hard shift.once warm this is still present but not as pronounced.the transmission seems to slip through gears and have sudden downshifts that decelerate the car or the vehicle will lurch forward without having your foot on the gas as it shifts itself into a different gear.when trying to 'punch it' and accelerate quickly it will often hesitate to go into the correct gear then suddenly rev high as it speeds up.hunting up and down through gears while staying at a constant speed.the navigation system is extremely slow to come up and respond to inputs when the car is started.acura has claimed this is due to cell phone bluetooth interference.collision mitigation system has engaged twice.the first time by husband was in a parkinglot driving through a row looking for a spot to park.the car slammed on the breaks with no cars in his path and nearly caused the car behind him to rear end him.the second time i was approaching a stop light to turn right, there was a vehichle in front of me but the distance i was stoping from the rear of that vehichle was not an abnormal or alarming distance.the brakes locked up with lights flashing on the dash and an awful grinding noise coming from beneath the car.on one occasion from a parked position it would not allow us to engage it in drive.it flashed "shift to park" on the dash.it took three attempts to get it to go in to drive. The rear hatch hydrolics had to be replaced within the first 6 months as the power liftgate stopped working.one of the two key fobs also went out on us in the first 6 months, replacing the battery did nothing and the whole fob needed to be replaced.
After receiving the vehicle from acura in march 2020with approximately 49,500 miles and noticed the vehicle was slipping around 20 to 30 miles per hour. My fiancee drove it as well and felt it slipping in a city stop and go under the same speed. We called acura to complain about the slipping as well as the battery malfunctioning. They told us to bring it in and we did. The battery end up being dead a few weeks after receiving the vehicle. It was changed. We then were told that the vehicle needs a transmission fluid change and that this maybe causes the problem. We noticed with the vehicle records the fluid was changed at 42,376 miles prior. The transmission fluid ended up being changed and we were told that we would need to drive the vehicle a lot for the slipping to go away. Thousands of miles later the vehicle is still slipping with 53,000 miles. We feel acura knows the is an issue but doesn't want to fix it. We need help. I'm not the only won having this issue with this particular vehicle when it involves slipping. I have a few documents supporting my case about the transmission fluid and the current issues with the vehicle.
Acura mdx 2017 bought brand new. Has shut off completely 5 times in the last 60days. 3 times in the last 2 days. Come to a stop, entire car shuts off along with electronics. Occured the last three times at an intersection waiting to turn left or at a red light. . can't move. Have to restart the car. Dangerous. I've taken it to acura and they say nothing is wrong. Service tech told me another mdx owner is having same issue.
I was parallel parking my car and after i got the car in the space warning lights starting coming on the dashboard. The warning lights were; electric parking brake problem, emissions system problem, blind spot info system problem, tire pressure monitoring problem, transmission system problem.i tried to put it into park and it would not engage. Then i thought maybe if i drive it forward some and then park again it will reset. I drive out of the space and noticed there was a red flashing light that read park and the d was flashing. I think the car was telling me i needed to park the vehicle? i went ahead and parked again put it in park (it worked this time, but the p was flashing) and then turn off the vehicle. It would not turn off and instead it just beeped when i pressed the ignition button. After what felt like forever i decided to press and hold the ignition button. It finally turned off. The next day i went to move the car, again all the same lights came on but this time it would not let me put it in reverse. I put the vehicle in reverse took my foot off the break pedal and nothing happened. I put it in park and again tried to put it in reverse. Nothing happened again. I thought maybe the brake was engaged, so i tried to release the brake and tried to reverse again. Nothing happened! i even pressed the gas pedal thinking it was maybe in between gears, nothing happened. I tried putting it in park and then reverse several times before the car finally reversed. I've only had the vehicle 1.5 weeks i bought it brand new with 26 miles on the odometer.also, i noticed both of the display screens do not turn on immediately like they used to. When i turned on the car it was a full minute before they turned on and the ac turned on.
Since owners and on 4 specific occasions. While driving at high speed upon acceleration at 70 mph auto went dead. Lost all power. After eight minutes auto restarted. 9 months ago, while placed into reveres to auto self accelerated t high speed. After brakes applied and vehicle placed into drive vehicle accelerated at a hgh rate of speed. Lock brakes put vehicle into neutral restarted. One month ago while turning left into traffic at a major intersection, car brakes applied awaiting left turn against traffic. Went to accelerate, car dash lights went wild all begin bling rapidly, dash went black, abs brakes and brake pedal went to floor car went by itself into neutral. Took over 8 minutes to restart. On 9/24.19 tuesday at 1:41 pm while traveling west bound on interstate 90, at 74 mph while passing a semi truck as i passed the truck, with a clear distance and proceeded to turn into the right driving lane in front of the truck as i pulled right the vehicle dash went black, the abs and brake peddle went to the floor and the car decelerated rapidly from 74 to 50 mph within a second. The semi locked the brakes to avoid a serious rear end collision.as i reached 50 mph the dash re lite and all instrumentation appear to function and as i pushed down on the accelerator the vehicle regained speed. I can report perhaps 15 to 20 other major items with collision avoidance and electronic dash abnormalities. The vehicle has been in the acura shop minimally 15 to 20 times over 24 months to no avail. Acura reports software updates or bad battery causing low voltage signals. This vehicle is dangerous and if not addressed will cause death.
While driving on normal road with no other cars around, the emergency braking system/forward collision activated and immediately stopped my car with no danger present. This resulted in the car behind me swerve to avoid hitting me in the rear. No warning lights were on the dash or no audible warning either. This seems to be a malfunction in the system.
The contact owns a 2017 acura mdx. While the liftgate was closing remotely, it forcefully closed and struck the occupant's body. The contact sustained head injuries that did not require medical attention. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to two local dealers: autonation volvo cars san jose (4600 stevens creek blvd, san jose, ca 95129, (408) 758-5501) and hopkins acura (1555 el camino real, redwood city, ca 94063, 888-606-5810) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was working as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 9401017. The contact was referred to the local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
Incident #2 driving down city street approaching an intersection. No car in front and no car behind. In the middle of the intersection the car auto brakes to a complete stop before releasing back to normal. If a car were behind me i would have most surely been rear ended.
While traveling on an interstate highway, vehicle suddenly lost acceleration & dashboard warning messages related to transmission, parking break, emissions & stop vehicle flashed across dash display.exited highway & parked vehicle to cool engine. Restarted and about half of the display messages disappeared. Turned engine off again, waited a bit longer and when restarted, all display messages were gone. Went straight to local dealership where they replaced battery; mileage 40,000+.
While driving, i received the message "advanced driver support system: u3000-49". This is the second time this error has appeared on the console. First time this had occurred was on 9/28/18 and again on 8/13/19. The dealer says i dont drive the car enough and in turn the battery for the camera does not have sufficient charge. Every time i bring this car in for an issue they reset the error message and inform me to let them know to come back if the issue appears. This happened with my trunk and my jerky transmission. On another note, i have had issues with a choppy transmission. The car jerks from 1st to 2nd everytime. They know about the problem but refuse to fix it. The 2019 models dont have this problem as i test drove. It is a safety issue because when you press the accelerator it gives a jerk and in the winter if you are not prepared it can catch you off guard.
The contact owns a 2017 acura mdx. While driving approximately 75 mph on a busy interstate highway, the vehicle suddenly failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. In addition, the electric parking brake, blind spot, and "stop driving" messages and indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to mapleton palm beach acura (6870 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33411), but the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer performed a software update on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,649.
At different times, either with my wife or i driving the vehicle, we will receive error messages on the dash indicating that various systems are inoperative. These involve the lane keeping assist system and the braking system. I also believe that the cruise control does not function when these messages appear.

Loses power and unable to accelerate while driving at higher speeds. Has happened 4 times in 2 months
Yesterday while stopped a light, the mdx refused to move once i took my foot off the break. The engine became very loud and 'emissions system problem' and 'brake parking problem' appeared on the dashboard. The trunk opened but wdnt close automatically. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. The vehicle had issues staying in neutral and would immediately revert back to park.the towing company had me continuously hold it in neutral in order to get it on the flat bed. It took 45 mins to finally get the vehicle on the bed. I was really annoyed as i've never experienced anything as such with my prior mdx and was on the way to meet my children. When we arrived at the dealer, a tlx was towed and had the same issues. The vehicle shut down and wdnt move like mine. Thank god i was not on the highway. I have complained about the shifting of gears when driving and was told it was normal and the vehicle would eventually change but it's also still happening. Needless to say i am very dissatisfied and disappointed and will not purchase another acura
Issues have now occurred twice within an approximately 4 week period.first time was near the end of june and the second time occurred on 7/30/20.after stopping on the highway, once for a stoplight and the other time to turn off highway onto another road, the engine stalled/turned off.after vehicle was back in park, i was able to restart the vehicle each time.
I own a 2017 acura mdx. When accelerating from a stop it hesitates for a second or two and then jerks when it finds its gear. This happens every time the vehicle is used. Merging onto the interstate or switching lanes can be very dangerous.
Mechanical fire
The contact owns a 2017 acura mdx. The contact stated that the vehicle did not start when the push start button was depressed. After 45 minutes, the vehicle started. The contact also stated that the failure occured sporadically for approximately six months. The vehicle was taken to acura of thousand oaks (3945 auto mall dr, thousand oaks, ca 91362) four times, but they were not able to replicate the failre. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
We own a 2017 acura mdx, my wife was driving the suv attempting to park when the vehicle briefly accelerated.i was driving the suv at low speed when it briefly accelerated, i was kind of stunned, and asked did you feel that, she said yes, and then stated i guess i wasn't imaging it when it happened to me, these were separate issues at different times and dates.the vehicle was brought in for service and this issue was mentioned, the service writer explained that acura is aware of this and it's an intermittent issue and acura has no fix, it was asked why acura hasn't warned owners of the potential problem and the service writer explained it's a intermittent issue that hasn't been replicated in service and doesn't happen to all the vehicles.we asked doesn't someone think it's a safety issue, that when i was driving in laconia nh bike week it could have accelerated into a motorcycle or pedestrian.there was no response other than please rate us good on the service call what we did not what acura isn't doing?????????
On several occasions as i reduce speed, the car suddenly accelerates when i release the break to start accelerating again.the acceleration happen when you are going at slow speed.the first time i took it to the dealership it had happened in 4 occasions and i had atributed the incident to lack of experience in driving a new car.because it happened in front of my daughters school ' and in theory i could have actually killed a child ' i promptly deliver it to the dealership.during the test drive with the technician, the car changed gears from the comfort mode to sport mode on its own.because it was a safety issue, they informed me that an engineer from acura would come and inspect the unit. After a week with my car, they just did an update into the transmission software - and informed me they were unable to recreate the issue.thirty three days later' while dropping my dad at his dialysis ' at a turn - the car went form 3 miles to 25 miles, and it was fortunate that it was 5:45 in the morning ' since i could certainly would have cause an accident considering i almost ran a light.i called the dealership and on february 1, dropped again the vehicle at the dealership.11 days later i called back to follow up and was informed by the service manager that acura should have contacted me on friday february 9 to let me know that they would be sending an engineer to check the vehicle again.our concern is that this is a safety issue documented on two previous complaints in this forum, that constitute a serious risk for my family and community.at 11:00 am on february 12 i have yet to hear from acura although they are aware of the issue.
We were driving on the highway yesterday at 75 mph when suddenly our tachometer jumped a couple of times and then the car lost all power and switched into neutral. It's the same transmission problem others are reporting and dangerous.
I have been complaining for two years that my car intermittently hesitates when accelerating. I have pulled out into traffic and my car has hesitated long enough that i've almost got slammed in the back by another car.the car feels like it is about to stall.i will press the gas pedal down to the floor and finally the car starts moving again. Brought the car in on several occasions to acura and since they could not reproduce the hesitation, they decided there was nothing wrong with the car.another issue i've had is with my brakes. At 13,000 miles both of my front brakes were worn down to the metal. When i brought the car in, it was noted that both calipers seized. The brakes and calipers were replaced. About 14,000 miles later,my right front brake was down to the metal. My left front brake was fine. After keeping my car for a week and consulting with the engineers in california, acura decided there was nothing wrong with the brakes and that it was my driving. I asked how i only put the right front brake on and not the left. They did not have an answer. But becausethey couldn't find anything wrong, i had to replace both brakes again.
Car caught on fire while we were driving with all the family inside

Dangerous loss of power while accelerating on the highway! there have been three separate incidences over the last 2 years. While i was trying to accelerate on the highway, the car severely lost power and the "check engine" light started flashing. The car seemed to operate normally after turning off and on the engine. The dealership claimed that there was no computer records of problems after each incidence. Acura just issued a recall of the fuel pump on this model year mdx. However, acura and the local acura dealership refused the repair due to the lack of computer record of failure.
The contact owns a 2017 acura mdx. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle stalled as the emission and parking brake warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that after experiencing the failure, the vehicle resumed normal operation as the warning remained illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact then took the vehicle to lindsay acura (5880 scarborough blvd, columbus, oh 43232) where they were unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. The mechanic cleared the warning lights off the instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure persisted soon after the return of the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Driving on the highway at about 80 mph and as i was rounding a band the car automatically started breaking with no cars in front of me. The car almost came to a complete stop before it out of alleviated the breaking and allowed me to continue to accelerate.
Incident #2 driving down city street approaching an intersection. No car in front and no car behind. In the middle of the intersection the car auto brakes to a complete stop before releasing back to normal. If a car were behind me i would have most surely been rear ended.
2017 acura mdx purchased may 2020. Incidences has happened 5 times. Twice this month in july 2021 the brakes engaged! anxiety and fear of being hit by cars behind.1st incident:location back road when the brakes engaged the vehicle in front had taken a right turn. The vehicle was cleared from mine so it came as a scare as it stopped in the middle of the road with others behind me honkingā€¦.. The brakes released and i proceeded driving.2nd:location back road again in front a vehicle turned right and the brakes engaged. I hit the gas gently i dont know if that helped to disengage the brakes or not.3rd: location highwaybrakes engaged and immediately released. I was in passing lane and a truck in middle lane ā€¦.. This made no sense.4th: location at intersection truck turned left across and in front of me, brakes engaged and stopped my car, only to find out a low trailer was being towed.brakes did help prevent an accident. Kudos earned here!!!! 5th: location back road speed less than 40mph vehicle in front of me turning right again my brakes engaged! again i used the gas hoping the brakes would disengage. I dont know if it helped or not. Now i only use the cruise control on highways.

The 2017 acura mdx has an unintended sudden acceleration failure condition. This analysis provides evidence of this issue, and the subsequent communications with acura client relations which ended with a refusal to acknowledge the issue. The purpose of this document is to provide data and evidence in order to influence acura to initiate a root cause analysis; with the objective of implementing a solution for all affected vehicles.
Vehicle lost power upon accelerating and i received a message to pull over when safe transmission error; this happened at a stop and seems to be more likely when turning the vehicle or while accelerating, i pulled over and attempted to put the vehicle in reverse with out success;

Vehicle loses power upon accelerating and hesitates for a second or two - most typically from a stop and seems to be more likely when turning the vehicle while accelerating, although there have been times when the vehicle has stalled when trying to accelerate on a straight section of highway.problem is intermittent, virtually impossible to predict or replicate, but has occurred numerous times since purchase of the vehicle in november of 2017.
I was driving 80mph southbound on 45 in houston, texas on sunday, may 26, 2019, during memorial day traffic. Without notice, my car began to ding and stated to 'stop driving'. It also showed a transmission error and parking brake error. In addition, the car shifted into neutral automatically, disabled the gas pedal and i was unable to reengage drive. At this time, the highway i was on was under construction with cement walls on both sides with no shoulder. I was able to coast to the nearest exit and leave the highway. Once off the highway, i restarted my car and was still unable to put it in drive.
Vehicle lost power upon accelerating and i received a message to pull over when safe transmission error; this happened at a stop and seems to be more likely when turning the vehicle or while accelerating, i pulled over and attempted to put the vehicle in reverse with out success;
While driving on the expressway, i have had at least 3 episodes of deceleration while trying to accelerate. I was traveling between 60 and 75 mph. It seems to happen when i decelerate to slow with traffic or change lanes to exit.when i attempt to accelerate, the car (2017 mdx) continued to decelerate rapidly, for up to 5 seconds, putting me in a very dangerous situation on the highway. I was not using cruise control and had the lkas turned off. Additionally, i was not close enough to any other care for the automatic braking system to be a factor.
The transmission in the car decelerates unexpectedly, the vehicle stalls when trying to accelerate, it also jerks when shifting gears, all of these issues are extremely dangerous when driving on the highway, switching lanes and simply driving and trying to maneuver from a stop. We have also had a warning pop up on the dashboard to immediately stop the vehicle in the middle of the street because there is an issue with the transmission, we took the car to the dealership and they said they dont see the specific code and to just have it towed in next time. I bought this car for safety, we just had a baby and now i am scared to drive the car on a daily basis, what if it doesnt accelate when needed and we get hit! we have brought the transmission issue up mutliple times; however, all we have been told is that this is a normal thing for the acura mdx 2017 year we have. This is not normal, it is extrememly unsafe.
Note that the following problems have been occurring frequently since i purchased the car in october 2017; the date required below was a random date i chose.when accelerating quickly to enter a highway, the transmission hesitates before deciding which gear to jump into. This also occurs, to a lesser extent, when i have to stomp on the gas in an emergency situation while on the highway. This is extremely dangerous since it makes me vulnerable to an accident; when i stomp on the gas pedal, i expect to get acceleration.i don't expect the car to pause in order to decide which gear would be the best to jump into.the dealership said the computer was trying to decide which gear would be the most economical, from a gas perspective, to shift into.this is not for normal acceleration, but where i need to accelerate very quickly.additionally, the automatic transmission jerks when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.it has been happening since i purchased it in october 2017.when i complained about it to the dealer service center, they said this was "normal" and nothing they could do.
Loses power and unable to accelerate while driving at higher speeds. Has happened 4 times in 2 months
Transmission will jerk heavily when driving and has a continuous shifting sound like it stays neutral. Will judder when the vehicle stops and on acceleration. The car needs to be turned off and back on to reset. I can't use all drive settings as it happens more frequently in the sport modes. The issue first started happening at 15k miles. I have reported it to rhe dealership six times, the last time was a week ago. The dealership has kept the car overnight, replaced the shift mechanisms, updated system settings, and the gas pumps. The problem still persists. I attempted to upload service records, multiple documents.
The 9 speed transmission in my acura mdx shifts very hard going into first and second gear while driving on city streets and in two separate cases the car did not shift into third gear and halted the car as i step on the gas the engine roars but the car did not move. Once it finally shifted into gear the car jolted forward. This happened in the rain which was extremely scary and unsafe. I have taken the car to two acura dealers totaling 4 visits to the service department and no one believes that anything is wrong because acura is not doing anything about it. A lot of other customers online reviews explain the same issue i'm having. I have contacted acura corporate office and was assured within two business days a manager would contact me regarding this matter and that was three weeks ago and i have heard nothing from them. I do not feel safe in this car or having my family in the car at this point.
Multiple systems indicator failures wen on, per attached pictures. The transmission was stuck in the 1st gear, the vehicle was vibrating and was unable to accelerate. This created a driving hazard, as i was on the roadway.
I own a 2017 acura mdx. When accelerating from a stop it hesitates for a second or two and then jerks when it finds its gear. This happens every time the vehicle is used. Merging onto the interstate or switching lanes can be very dangerous.
We were driving on the highway yesterday at 75 mph when suddenly our tachometer jumped a couple of times and then the car lost all power and switched into neutral. It's the same transmission problem others are reporting and dangerous.
I believe the 9-speed transmission in the 2017 mdx presents serious safety issues. One of my major concerns is the significant "lurching" i get when parking on a slope, shifting to "park" and then taking my foot off the brake.on snow or ice, the car could easily slide some distance.i similar lurching also frequently occurs when shifting into drive or reverse when on a slope and then starting to accelerate.my second major concern is that when i downshift on a down-slope in lieu of braking, the car actually first speeds significantly up after downshifting and does not slow down as it should.i do a significant amount of driving in mountains where down-shifting is safer than braking and this is a major safety issue.lastly, the car hesitates at times when accelerating from a stop.i have taken the car back to the dealer at least twice and am told that these issues are just the characteristics of the car.
The van started running rough and started jerking. The gears were not shifting well and got an error message p0730. It was very unsafe and we were lucky not to have been driving on freeway. Huge safety issue .
Transmission goes into neutral on its own. Loses power. Delay in acceleration. Jerky gear shifting.
On february 23,2018, i purchase a new 2017 acura mdx with technology package.the vehicle had 378 miles when i purchased it.it had never been titled and was sold as a new vehicle.upon taking delivery of the vehicle, i noticed thatthe vehicle hesitates when shifting gears. When stopped at a traffic light on a flat paved, city street, the vehicle experiences poor acceleration when taking off.i am pressing the gas pedal down really hard, yet the vehicle is moving very slowly--not equal to the amount of pressure i am applying to the gas pedal. The acceleration is very poor, especially when pulling off from a stopped position.when i am going downhill on a paved city street, the vehicle accelerates even when no gas is applied. Experiencing rough shifting, especially in low gears on all paved roads. Dangerous when trying to merge onto the highway due to extremely slow acceleration.sometimes when slowing down to stop, the vehicle accelerates. When i try to make a left turn against oncoming traffic, the vehicle hesitates and could cause a serious accident. All driving takes places on city streets, highways and paved roadways.on one occasion, the vehicle would not shift into reverse from a parked position. I received an error code saying 'transmission problem, pull over when safe." the poor acceleration problem is worse when i enable the adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist features. I have returned the vehicle to the dealership on 2 separate occasions.each time they tell me the vehicle is operating as designed.they even said that i need to drive the vehicle more so that the transmission will learn my driving patterns and make the necessary adjustments.
The transmission will jerk when driving upon acceleration and has a continuous shifting sound and feeling as though the car is in neutral or the drive mode is being changed (like that when you shift gears on a bike). I am unable to use all drive modes as the issue occurs in every mode--but even more in the sport modes. When the problem occurs, i have to turn off the car and turn it back on and that will usually fix the problem--but if i change it to another drive mode or have it in the sport modes it occurs randomly. If i'm on the freeway during commute times, i don't pull over to do so. The issue first started at 15k miles while driving on the freeway. I was utilizing one of the sport modes. In the past--the ride was smoother, now it's a hit or miss. It was reported to the dealership during a service. This issue has been reported a total of 6 times to the dealership. They have kept the car overnight, replace the shift mechanism, updated system settings, and the gas pump. During my last visit, the service manager stated that no issue was found. The issue still persists. From my research, it is a common issue and should not be. It started back in 2018 and as late as 4/14/2021.
The transmission shifts hard and rough, slips in and out of gear and on two separate occasions (both being on the freeway) the transmission got stuck and would not respond at all and i sat in the car coasting as if the car was in neutral while on the highway. I have taken the car in to acura 6 times and have received no help at all. I have contacted acura corporate and still received no help. I'm highly concerned for myself and my families safety. This is now my daily driver and the transmission is only getting worst over time. In regular city street driving, braking is scary because the transmission accelerates before it slows down and the car shifts down slowly so by the time i actually stop the car, the car is still shifting down. The car jerks when i press on the gas or when i break to stop. I'm afraid an accident is going to happen if i have to slam on the breaks to avoid a collision because the transmission can't decide which gear to shift into. Acceleration is a big problem as well. If i'm at a complete stop and press the gas to go the car lags and then jolts into gear and then jolts again into the next gear. I paid a lot of money for this car and i do not feel safe driving it at all i'm trully scared i'm going to be injured or maybe worst.
We were driving 70mph on the interstate i10 headed to new orleans when our vehicle suddenly and without warning lost acceleration the dashboard lite up like a christmas tree telling me to pull over immediately and then electric parking brake error, transmission error and an emissions error all at once. This was a very dangerous incident and we somehow managed to get to the small side of the road on this busy interstate. It scared the both us! the mdx would not go into drive or neutral? while waiting for the tow truck we almost were side swiped. This car was purchased for the safety features and it has really caused my wife and i to lose all faith and now cannot depend on it. Our vehicle has 44k on it and it was even a acura certified pre-owned inspected vehicle. I have learned there is a class action lawsuit for this same type of incident and model of acura. This car is dangerous and acura better own up to this faulty vehicle. This needs to be recalled!
Transmission is jerky, choking and doesn't react for 3-4 seconds. I took it to the dealer and they reset a transmission code without replacing my transmission with a new one.
When i purchase new car, there is rust on both side front seats.
Incident #2 driving down city street approaching an intersection. No car in front and no car behind. In the middle of the intersection the car auto brakes to a complete stop before releasing back to normal. If a car were behind me i would have most surely been rear ended.
Going about 20 miles an hour in traffic a vehicle in front of me at a distance of about 2 car lengths started to turn right into a gas station lot unexpectedly. The automatic braking system detected a potential for collision and warned me. I pressed the brake pedal and slowly attempted to apply the brakes as the situation was not critical. The critical brake indicator did not go away, and the car immediately felt as though it depressed the break fully as if a collision was imminent. The driver behind me was following very close and collided with me. Though the accident was probably unavoidable, i feel the acura overestimated the urgency to stop given the distance of the vehicle in front of me and the speed at which we were moving.
We were traveling on a three-lane road (center turn lane) in our 2017 acura mdx going approximately 35 mph and following the vehicle in front of us at the normal 4-car length distance.the car in front of us signaled for a right turn off the main road and began to slow.i applied our brakes to slow as well.we were still at least 3 car lengths behind when the car in front of us turned off the main road.i moved my foot off the brake to accelerate back to the normal speed.the collision mitigation braking system activated, bringing our vehicle to a sudden stop in traffic.the vehicle that had made the right turn was completely off the main road when our brake system activated. We were rear-ended by a jeep wrangler traveling at or near the speed limit. Our vehicle was totaled.i want to note that this was not a case of us following too closely or approaching too fast!our mdx had 9,256 miles on it, and there had been no prior problems or warnings.we had no idea that the electronic brake system could activate without cause and bring the vehicle to a complete stop!
On august 21, 2018 i pulled into a parking stall, and realized i was not aligned properly. I clicked on reverse so that i could realign within my designated space, and the car lunged forward jumping the curb and hitting the building approximately 4-5 feet in front of me. Both driver side airbags deployed. $13,000 worth of damage to my car. Within the first week of getting this car is 2017, i've had many issues such as failure to start and brake warning light coming on randomly while driving. Had to have the vehicle towed at least 3x to the dealer, for which they could not replicate the issues.
2017 acura mdx.consumer writes in regards to warning "beeps" volume issues.the consumer stated the volume of the warning beeps needed to be increased. If the radio was on and a call came in, the radio volume would automatically shut off until the phone call ended.
It was 46 outside when i was driving down i-10. My sunroof exploded with no apparent cause. Only car on interstate at the time. Not passing under overpass or following behind any vehicle that could've thrown rocks. The break in the sunroof was in an upward fashion, as if it broke from the inside out (as if related to increased pressure). The piece of glass that was broken was a large sheet, still intact. It seems if an outside obstacle (such as a rock or debris) would've caused the sunroof to shatter, the glass would've been in many more pieces/shards. I took it to my dealer who said it 'must have' been a rock and they wanted me to file an insurance claim. After i refused, they offered me a 'good will warranty' to cover the cost but never did admit that this issue was more than likely related to a manufacturer defect.
Sunroof exploded -driving vehicle around 60mph on misty rainy overcast day. All of a sudden sunroof shatters (no car around for rock or pebble projection).
Car caught on fire in the middle of the road. I was inside of the car with my three kids, my husband was driving, the car started smoking, we stopped in the middle of the road and everybody ran out of the car and the car caught up in flames, we heard an explosion, the police officers and firefighters arrived and they stopped the fire. They filed a report with city of issaquah #18-09696. We called the dealership and acura customer relation and they didn't want to go see the car and check what caused the fire. Firefighter mentioned it could have started in the engine. From my point of view, this was a manufacturing defect and should be covered by the car's warranty. I would like to request for a compensation, the money spent on the car so far.
Mechanical fire
Occassionally, the yellow brake alert goes off when driving around a right hand bend with a car coming the other way. There was absolutely no chance of a collision where braking was necessary.also, i have had once instance where the car applied the brakes and brought the car to a complete stop when it was unnecessary.

Car caught on fire while we were driving with all the family inside
The brand new suv (2017 acura mdx awd tech package) has about 7000 miles and for the last 300 miles it is having problems which are critical safety issues, when the gas is slightly pressed to increase speed in a moving vehicle. This issue is seen at least once a day or once in 2 days. The suv has auto braking feature and it is definitely not related to that.1. The car brakes by itself (slightly slowing down for 1 to 3 seconds) 2. The car speeds up unexpectedly and then brakes by itself.i took in the car few times to the acura dealership and they said they did not see any issues in the computer. So now i am very concerned and worried to put my family in the car.
Multiple errors in safety warning and action systems such as the collision mitigation and warning system.for example, while driving on a four lane highway (undivided, no head-on traffic), my vehicle was in the far-right lane, 800-900 feet behind a truck in the left lane.the truck began slowing and moved into the wide left-hand turn lane leading to a signal controlled by a traffic signal.when i was about 2-300 feet behind the truck, now stopped (awaiting a left-turn light), the collision mitigation system flashed the word 'brake' in the heads-up display and went into full braking mode to the limit of the anti-skid system.there was no other traffic on the road within 3-3500 feet of the intersection.this has happened numerous times where the collision mitigation system went to full braking with no other vehicles possibly representing a danger.numerous other warnings of the sensors alert at random.most recently, while stopped at an intersection with my foot on the brake ' the engine idle-stop system working (i.e., the engine was not operating) ' we received a warning to 'brake' and warning of approaching vehicles (which should not happen).we frequently get warnings of non-existent trafffic approaching from behind while sitting in a parking slot, transmission in park, parking brake on (or off, both). Cruise control was not used in any of these cases.there are dozens of other false warnings, both audio and visual, that do little more than to train us to ignore them, not a good attribute of any warning system.backup collision sensors frequently alert to hazards which cannot be seen: i've actually shut down the engine, get out and looked to see if something like a shopping cart might have rolled into the vehicle's path, only to find nothing whatsoever behind the vehicle.warnings are both in visual (word/graphics) and audio form.
The noise volume of the advanced safety technology, such as lane departure warning and blind spot information, does not change with increased vehicle speed nor with increased radio volume. Therefore, the technology is not audible unless the vehicle is at a stop or at low speed or if the radio is off. This renders the technology useless during most vehicle trips. The vehicle manufacturer was contacted, but no resolution was given. This is a safety issue, as drivers who may rely on this technology may not be aware that the technology is activated when they cannot hear it.
Vehicle anti collision activated on straight city street at approx 35 mph when other vehicle had made right turn and was no longer in collision path. Brakes automatically applied to dead stop, causing following vehicle to take evasive action.
Starting, seat pushed forward against steering column moving down radio blaring driver climate control went to low passengers to 80 degrees blower to high and car lunged forward. Dealer said previous complaints were discovered and addressed to be two fobs entering vehicle at same time and and vehicle confused they advised only one fob in car at any one time. Questionable answer not substantially proven? and we will always have two fobs. Vehicle was stationary in gear.
I was driving 70mph on az state route 51.i heard a loud bang, like a gun shot, and a sudden noise like turbulent air and highway noise.as i slowed the vehicle i looked around to see if there were any broken windows which there weren't.pulling over and inspecting the vehicle i noticed 2/3 of the moonroof was missing and a few pebbles of plate glass on top of the inside cover.the remaining glass was angled up like it had been sucked up not deflected down from an impact.i was a navy fighter pilot and this is the same sequence of events i experienced with the loss of a canopy and sudden decompression.i have a master's degree in aerospace engineering and i know the location of the moonroof is a low pressure area like the top of an aircraft wing.there were no other vehicles in close proximity, no objects flying off the road, nor was the vehicle under an underpass.this is a combination of a design flaw and possibly a defect in the moonroof glass. The vehicle is 3 months old, less than 3000 miles driven and the moonroof has never been opened.acura takes no responsibility.this is a safety hazard as a less experienced startled driver could be so distracted as to cause an accident.the fix is a wind deflector in front of the moonroof.i am having one installed at my expense by the acura.i would prefer a metal sunroof or a factory roofline modification to deflect the airstream and prevent the low pressure area causing this problem. Googling moonroof explosion yields numerous incidents from multiple manufacturers.there needs to be a fix before a fatality occurs.captain, usnavy(ret)
I own a 2017 acura mdx. When accelerating from a stop it hesitates for a second or two and then jerks when it finds its gear. This happens every time the vehicle is used. Merging onto the interstate or switching lanes can be very dangerous.
Multiple systems indicator failures wen on, per attached pictures. The transmission was stuck in the 1st gear, the vehicle was vibrating and was unable to accelerate. This created a driving hazard, as i was on the roadway.
2017 acura mdx. Consumer writes in regards to unintended acceleration. *ldthe consumer stated the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but did not offer any assistance.
The 2017 acura mdx will accelerate without your control and surges or lurches when you step on the gas almost hitting the car in front of you. Acura is aware of this and says it is the difference between the 6 speed transmissions of their older cars and the new 9 speed transmission but they will not fix it or offer a solution.
The vehicle consistently ignores the miles-per-hour set on the cruise controls - - exceeding the mph by over 5 miles per hour or evenmore.this is a safely hazard plus can easily lead to speeding tickets.i have noticed this happening many times on highways (normally with a speed limit of 55 - 65.
The contact owns a 2017 acura mdx. While driving approximately 65 mph, the sun roof exploded without warning or an impact. Shattered glass fell onto the contact. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to hopkins acura of fairfield (877-360-1950, located at 2459 auto mall pkwy, fairfield, ca 94533) where it was determined that the failure was unusual and was not covered by the warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the failure would be investigated. The contact was not called back. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 8,500.
We bought this vehicle brand new, it has 16,000 miles on it.we discovered a sidewall crack on the front passenger side tire making driving the vehicle unsafe.the car has continnel cross connect lx tires on it. We contacted orange park acura the dealer who sold us the car.
My 2017 acura mdx has had all service, including voluntary early replacement of oem tires with better hydroplaning tires, at the same acura dealership where it was purchased new.has had all routine maintenance there.no extreme weather, no extreme driving, no floods or water exposure, no accidents, only typical suburban driving in mid-atlantic usa,no wheel damage from anything i'm aware of.problem ' rims are damaged with heavy scratches, at least oneone has a crack, rear two show corrosion close to where they attach to the axle.either a major manufacturing defect, some kind of mishap at the dealership, or a combination is all i can think of.just noticed this today but thecorrosion has obviously been going on a while.car was most recently serviced within the past month, no one mentioned this.
