I purchased this vehicle from a private auction in hesperia, ca around august of 2020 and i am currently the registered owner as of today.about a month into the purchase i notice the car jerk and brake unusually while in motion. I didn't know what exactly happened at the time so i ignored it for the moment. Then about another month after that incident my wife, kids and i were traveling about 70 mph on the 15fwy headed south and this time it happened once again and more aggressively due to is traveling at a much greater speed and did jerk a lot harder almost making my wife lose control. Luckily she was alert and pulled over to the shoulder right away and that's when we noticed a new light on the i dash had illuminated. We see the acronym (vsa) illuminate and i had never seen this particular light before so i then start to research it. I find out it's part of an anti lock feature and it's suffice when dealing with curvy roads and helps with traction which gives smoother turns while driving and gives better control of the vehicle. I also read it's best to keep this feature off while commuting in your regular everyday transit. So as months go by it happened to me a good handful of times afterwards but at slower speeds and this time the light would not go off when i tried turning off the vsa control button on the driver side dash. I didn't have means to repair this part so i put it off once again. Well coming to a more recent event which resulted in myself losing control while on my way home from work at 11:30pm at night and totaling the vehicle as well as flipping the vehicle until it came to a rest on its side. I strongly believe the vsafeature malfunctioned made me lose control at 62-65 mphalmost claiming my life. I strongly believe it is responsible for my recent accidentwhich could have been life threatening and has caused financial stress upon my family.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v320000 (air bags), 13v092000 (service brakes, hydraulic, traction control system), and 12v573000 (electrical system); however, the parts to do the recall repair were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Takata inflators?i have been waiting very patiently on a waiting list to have the passenger frontal airbag inflator replaced.no such luck!i keep calling to make sure i am on the list at esserman acura in doral, and they confirm i am, but they are unable to give me an estimate of when i will have the inflator replaced!we are a family of 5 and acura suggests that we "avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the recall repair has been performed."i sit in that seat and don't allow any of my children to sit in the front for fear that something could happen to them, but this has gone on for too long.can someone please perform this recall for us?i would like it to be done before school starts up again.i called in may for the recall and i am still waiting.

Inflator recall - we received a recall letter from acura in july 2016 that told us to fix the airbag inflator immediately. They also recommended we don't drive our car until the changes have been made. So, we immediately called the dealer and they told us they did not have the part, but would call us when it arrived. A month went by, so we called again and they still did not have the part. After 2 months, we are concerned about the safety of our vehicle due to the long delay in dealership availability. What is the policy on a delay of a dealer's availability to fix a recalled part?

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. While driving 8 mph, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. Both frontal air bags deployed and exploded, emitting a gaseous substance. The driver sustained hand and face injuries that did not require medical attention. The front passenger did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The contact was unsure if the vehicle was towed away from the crash scene. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v320000 (air bags). The failure mileage was 119,000.

As i am driving my 5 year old to karate on a local road with 40 miles per hour,my whole left side air bag curtain deployed for absolutely no reason. ( i didn't hit anything and no one hit me either). I got a bruised hand, small concussion and a massive rash ( from chemicals in the air back). I called acura and was told to go for diagnostic at local acura dealership. I was charged $99 and was told to call my insurance company. I asked why since there wasn't an accident involved and the answer was ' i can't tell you how many people come here and claims that this happens to them but have no proof'. I guess the air back in my trunk and no damage to the rest of my car is not proof enough!!! i will be talking to a lawyer at this point!

I was in a collision and the front of my car impacted the rear of another. I was doing no more than 35-40 mph. I slammed on my brakes. Upon impact, the air bag did not deploy. X-rays from er showed only pulled/strained muscles in back. I and my family and friends were concerned though that the airbag failed to deploy.

Takatarecall. Have been trying to make appointment to fix problem for over a month. Nearest acura dealer is 68 miles away. Called 1-888-234-2138 (honda intl.) thy said to make appointment with nearest honda dealer, east coast honda in myrtle beach, s.c. Intnl. Honda case number 06380917. These people keep referring me to the other. East coast honda said they'll call me with appointment as soon as they receive the part, (new airbag). Have not heard from anyone. Can you help? not sure of date i first called. Pretty sure it was in september.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag warning senor light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to dealer and the mechanic stated that there was not a problem with the air bag. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 85,000. The current mileage was 90,000.

I have acura mdx 2005 model the vsa lights and airbagslights keep coming up intermittently and there is a transmission slips too. I wondered why it was not recalled when others were recalled .the vehicle still moves but noticing a slip in the transmission power

Going 65 miles an hour on the highway vehicle brakes suddenly vsa light comes on almost threw me in the ditch under snowy conditions airbag light also came on

Upon entering intersection after being at a complete stop, the vehicles driver side airbag randomly deployed. Vehicle was towed to acura of ocean in nj at which point acura regional service manager claimed i hit a stationary object (which was not the case).i would welcome an opportunity to speak with someone who specializes in the recent airbag issues with honda and the other car mfgs.

This is a general complaint regarding what i believe to be an insufficient recall involving the 2005 acura mdx among other vehicles (nhtsa recall no. 14v-700 & 14v-353).i considered purchasing a 2005 acura mdx of the provided vin but decided against it after finding that the vehicle was not covered by recalls 14v-700 & 14v-353.the recalls pertain to passenger front and side curtain airbags that "could produce excessive internal pressure upon deployment." the recall states that "if an affected airbag deploys, the increased internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture and deploy abnormally. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material possibly causing serious injury or fatality to you or others in the vehicle." however, the recall applies only to vehicles that "were originally sold in, or ever registered in geographic locations with a high absolute humidity, including the following: alabama, florida, georgia, hawaii, louisiana, mississippi, south carolina, texas, puerto rico, u.s. Virgin islands, saipan, guam, and american samoa."i am a college student, and while i live in colorado and would register my vehicle in co, i attend school in texas, which according to the recall has sufficient humidity to affect the function of the passenger airbags. I contacted both an acura dealer and acura relations to ask if they would replace my passenger airbags since i will have the vehicle in tx for 8 months of the year for the next two years, but they refused to perform this recall work since my vehicle's vin is not included in the recall (it has always been registered in co).since it is known that humidity is detrimental to the function of the airbags, this recall is insufficient as it does not protect owners of vehicles that are exposed to humid conditions but are not registered in one of the applicable states.

Takata recall - i requested for the fix 3 months ago. I was told that i will be contacted once the parts are available however no update.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v351000 (air bags) however, the part for the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the remedy. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v70000 (air bags). The dealer stated that the part needed to perform the recall remedy was not available and there was no estimated timeframe for the recall part to become available. The manufacturer was not notified of the delay. The vin was not available. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Srs/seat belt warning light came on at instrument panel then intemittingly over the next week. Took car in to dealer on october 13, 2014. Dealer advised that i needed to repair and not covered under any type of warranty. Called acura corp for financial assistance, advised i would have to pay entirely for the repair, not covered under warranty. Similiar situation occurred with my transmission, needed to pay 60% for repairs even though it was under warranty. Very surprised there was no recall for transmission with hundreds if not thousands of mdx owners affected. Hfl/bluetooth function inoperable and disconnected due to parasitic drainage. Need to replace no warranty coverage. Sent 3 certified letters to acura corporate officers seeking answers, yet to receive a response from anyone. This is what you get from buying a luxury vehixle from acura.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. While driving approximately 10 mph, the contact's vehicle crashed into another vehicle. Both the driver and passenger side air bags deployed and burned the contact's hand. The contact did not seek medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000.

Moving through intersection after being at a complete stop, the driver sidecurtain airbag just randomly deployed.

When car is turned on the icon for the airbags turn on on the dashboard.icon on is displayed while car is on and in motion.

Driving at highway speed 60mph right side curtain airbag, right front seat airbag and right side front seatbelt pre tensioner deployed. When the air bag deployed a piece of the right side grab bar hit the driver in the face. The front passenger had abrasion on her face from the airbag hitting her. On star called right away and we gave them info and after they were sure we were ok hung up.we took the vehicle to smithtown acura scanned for codes and found code f4-11. Acura informed me that a rep from acura would inspect the vehicle. After the rep inspected the vehicle they said that they found no manufacturer defects but they could not say why the airbag deployed. After a few weeks going back and forth with client realions for acura they said there legal team said they find no manufacturer defects and to call my insurance company.thanks for taking a look at this.

Esta marcando la seal en rojo y no se quita ya me cambiaron la bolsa del pasajero y la mia pero marca rojo

I called my acura dealer service department (new york) on 10/23/14, and was told that there is no recall for my 2005 acura mdx although the nhtsa lists that car in the takata airbag recall pages concerning exploding airbags.why does the acura service department refuse to fix the problem?is it dangerous to drive, and, if so, what can be done to make acura responsive?thank you.

Takata recall, my air bags has been malfunctioning turning off and on. I check if my vehicle is being recall but my vehicle is not in the database ? my acura mdx 2005 needs a recall

Takata recall. I am having severe difficulty in acura completing the recal/replacement of the passenger side air bag. In july, my son brought the car (with an appointment) to pauly acura in highland park, il. He was told when he went in that he needed the original recall notice or they could not do the replacement. He left. When i sent it to him, he went to pauly again but was told they could not do the replacement because we did not purchase the mdx at that dealership. He left. In february or march i received another notice. My son has the vehicle with him at school in oxford,ms. The closest dealership is over 90 minutes away. I contacted acura customer service's 800 number. After speaking with a rep, they agreed that due to the issues surrounding the dealership improperly turning away my son in july, his being under 25 and this not eleigible four a loaner, and the difficulty for a full time student with a job to make the trip, they would arrange a techto come to his school residence to do the replacement.this was in march. My son has had repeated phone calls with the acura rep and has received several excuses why it has not happened. He has now been referred to a new service rep who told him it's not acura's problem that he can't get to a dealership and is too young for a loaner. Further, the rep informed him that the airbag is not really a problem, just don't have anyone in the front passenger seat! acura has been extremely negligent in resolving this issue and we have nowhere to turn for help. Please advise.

I financed a car from a dealer in 3-2016 car was not able to start so the dealer informed me what was the problem and it was that i was using the wrong key. Dealer also said that i can take the car to a mechanic to see if there are any issues with the car took it to pep boys and over 20 issues showed from lack of oil to control arm shaking i had road safety issues and i informed the dealer and he told me to take it to his mechanic and he will give me a discount that's when i started looking at the dealer with suspension i did a car fax and the dealer had an inspection sticker on the car from march the day if financed the car but on car fax it shown that they inspected the car in december of 2015 2 weeks later the air bag sensor shows i called the dealer and he told me not to call no more or he will call the police. I sent him a letter to fix the problems and he just ignored me.. So now imat my last steps... I only had the car for 2 months and all of these safety issues are showing what can i do now......

Auto parked, foot on brake, moved gear shift to park, foot off brake, car lurched forward with great velocity, hit concrete wall, ricochede off wall, started running backward. Put foot on emer. Brake car stopped. Airbag deployed but improperly inflated. Cuts and abrasions and bruising on left hand and right.airbag did not deploy into chest or face. Called aaa to have towed/called 21st century ins. For name of collision yard they worked with. Tow truck arrived_too big to get into parking lot. Driver asked for my keys -told him the car with physically disabled after airbag deployment and could not be driven. He took my keys, started the car and drove off.not supposed to happpen. Went to emergent care and my primary physician and had cat scans run. New driver seat airbags are defective.

Each time, they promise someone will call me back and so far nothing, after sending me postcards that my recall notice is urgent and life threatening. This car is now being driven by my daughter and i want it fixed! yet i can't get them to respond. Very frustrating what can i do?

Recall not fixed in timely manner at all now car isn't working brakes sticking just not safe at all can't drive.

Have booming sound coming from the sub-woofer in the rear. Sounds deafening, quite loud and booming. Took it in because i had a warranty and they did nothing- didn't notice they didn't fix it till i got home as i didn't pick up the car. Took it back and they said they replaced the sub-woofer.on saturday driving home and had the car running, went to back to remove something and heard this crazy noise. I though it was coming from the tail pipe, that's how loud it was until i opened the back and realize it was the sub-woofer again!i have seen that a lot of other people are having the same problem, and not sure why there isn't a permanent fix from acura regarding this. The dealership, will imply its your cd's etc, but its not, it sounds crazy whether its the radio or even if you have the bass lowered to help with the noise.

Driver side power window control unit connector fails after years in service. The control unit is mounted on door with bracket and two screw which puts undue pressure on the connector by pushing it against the body.over the time plastic connector (due to creep effect)will give away and become loose preventing proper contact which will disable the operation of driver side power window. I learned it hard way by spending lots of money changing all parts (control module, window motor and driver multiplex switch) for no reason.

I brought my car in for recall for the shift interlock 7250a2. A repair or replacement was done by pohanka acura service.after the recall fix,i could still pull the key from the ignition while the care is in drive.i called the dealership and they are trying to fix it again today. I am complaining that the initial fix performed by the dealership was insufficient.i can forward a youtube link of the video if needed.

After you stop the car and keep in drive gear and pull the key out of ignition, the car rolls away.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. When the vehicle was in any gear, the key could be removed from the ignition. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 12v573000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced reduced engine power with the potential of an internal electrical failure. The vehicle stalled more than once without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The diagnostic results were not disclosed. Starting grinding after i had all recalls done i noticed the vsa light is now on an. Didnt have any issue before the vechical at 25 to 40 mph starts to shutter an makes me feel very unsafe ... I bought this car with the specific ability to keep me safe an have everything i need.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 20mph the airbag light illuminated without warning and the engine stalled.the engine would not restart and the battery was discharged.afterwards, the airbag and tire mounting light illuminated.the vehicle was seen by the dealer and the battery was replaced.the dealer determined the navigation unit was draining the battery.the engine stalling persisted and the vehicle lost all power.the engine was restarted but continued to stall.the vehicle was towed to the dealer who determined there was a short within the airbag srs module wiring.although the airbag problem was corrected, the stalling continued. The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. While driving approximately 65 mph she heard a loud noise outside of the vehicle.the "vsa" and "exclamation mark" warning lightsilluminated on the instrument panel, and then the vehicle began to jerk violently.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing.the technician detected a power surge in the battery, but no repairs were made.there was a separate occasion when an identical failure occurred accompanied by a loss of vehicle control.however, thedriver was able to gain control.the failure mileage was 49,900.the current mileage was 49,950.

Vehicle ignition lock failed.vehicle rolled and caused catastrophic injury to the leg of an elderly woman.

After placing vehicle in park, i was unable to remove the key from the ignition. The ignition key failed to align with slot so key could be removed. When i attempted to restart the car, it failed to start. I believe the problem is somehow linked between the ignition and the transmission/gear shift.recently, when shifting into park and drive the gear shift met with resistance. I'm out of town (approx 100 miles) and afraid to stop anywhere until i reach my dealer.had new transmission installed within the last two years. Posting this notice from hotel's computer, heading to dealer (mcgraph acura, westmount,il.) to diagnose and hopefully correct problem.

I am writing because i just received a safety recall notice from acura relating to:nhtsa action number : ea13002.my daughter was involved in an accident (she's ok!) where she had to swerve to avoid an oncoming car that had drifted into her lane rounding a left hand bend. Our 2005 acura mdx went out of control despite her attempts to control the vehicle, which she did after it had blown out two tires.could her braking and swerving result in the subsequent over correction of our mdx and be the result of the vehicle stability assist control module malfunctioning as described in the recall notice from acura.

While my vehicle was in motion the vsa light came on and my vehicle started slowing down and jumping like braking on it's own. Without my even touching my brake pedal. I was on the highway going about 40 miles and my 2005 acura mdx did this. I almost got into an accident because a truck was coming behind me at about more or so 60 to miles. I had to literally veer off to the breakdown down line. This was very scary. Please find a way to correct this on this type of vehicle. I am so afraid to drive my car pass 40 miles anywhere now.

When making a sharp turn on hot days the car makes a grinding noise like something is grabbing the tire.it slows the car, hands the steering wheel and then the vsa hazard light comes on. It is a recurring issue and mechanics have not been able to diagnose.

Two days ago, my vehicle was running about 45mph on a sidestreet.an unexpected braking was experienced without me applying the brake, vsa light went on.i had experenced 3 times of unexpected braking, vsa light coming -for the same day.so i decided to change inspect the brakes.the brakes and rotors are still good but i decided to change them anyway.(front:brake pads and rotors, rear: brake pads onlytoday, i was driving on a freeway just before 7am, with a speed of about 65mph, suddenly my vehicle made an expected braking without me pushing the brake.my vehicle almost went out of control for a second but i was able to handle it.i noticed that vsa light went on - but the road was clear, no bumps, no debris, just plain road.

Going 65 miles an hour on the highway vehicle brakes suddenly vsa light comes on almost threw me in the ditch under snowy conditions airbag light also came on

Recall not fixed in timely manner at all now car isn't working brakes sticking just not safe at all can't drive.

The brake will apply on its own and the brake lights will not come on because you don't press the pedal which would trigger the brake switch to turn the brake lights on.this is a very serious issue as it has happened to me numerous times at high speed.note i sent to acura during the uncommandedbrake issue, it describes the issue etc.. This is <my name>, i had brought my 2005 mdx which i bought new from you back in 2005 in for the uncommanded brake application issue on feb 10th 2010.as you know when this issue happens the brake applies itself when my foot is on the gas pedal and sometimes the vsa and ! light come on and sometimes they do not.on the 10th i drove the car with you mechanic and we had a brief experience of the issue but because of traffic i had to apply the brake and when my foot was off of the brake it still applied itself and then released and then applied again without me touching the pedal.the most serious of the issues is when my foot is on the gas and the brake applies itself.on that day your mechanic did a bunch of tests from the service manual for dtc 66 & 68 including:-- "the jiggle" test to see if something was loose and would trigger a code-- battery test for voltage-- ground connection to body clean and reset-- vsa connector was taken off and put back on-- codes were reset there is more but the length is greater than allowable maximum of '1,901'.

My 2005 acura mdx has been driving great since we purchased it over a year ago. Recently the vsa light came on while driving around town and the vehicle stopped very abruptly when lightly applying the brakes. The light goes away and appears to reset when you turn off the vehicle.now every time that the vehicle is driven i have to drive extra carefulbecause i never know when the vsa light will come on again causing the vehicle to come to an abrupt stop. I am afraid to drive this car on the freeway because driving at high speeds of the light were to come on and the wheels were to lock up like they have been would be extremely dangerous because it would be difficult to control the vehicle skidding at freeway speeds.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. While driving 40 mph, an abnormal noise was heard. The vehicle decelerated and started moving to the to right and then to the left independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (acura of wichita, 10950 e 13th st n, wichita, ks 67206) where it was diagnosed that the yah rate sensor needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact there was no recall for the failure. The contact was advised to go to the dealer for repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Experiencing the following sudden inadvertent braking issue, but not listed under my vin even though the make and model fit description of recall. The vehicle automatically braked and pulled to one side causing a temporary loss of control.vsa ecu malfunction. Nhtsa campaign number: 13v092000manufacturer honda (american honda motor co.)components service brakes, hydraulic, traction control systemsummary of existing recall: stability assist (vsa) control module causing intermittent, automatic, minor brake application. However, if the driver applies the brakes while the vsa is malfunctioning, the vehicle may come to an abrupt stop.(model year 2005-2006 acura mdx vehicles manufactured september 16, 2004, through september 22, 2005)

I just purchased this vehicle from a used car dealership at the time had no light appearing.the vsa light has come on and i see it had a recall for this previously. I called the dealership to see if all recalls had been serviced and they indicated they had. I have a huge concern knowing this is still a problem and when i asked if they could repair it under the previous recall that appears to not have fixed the problem i was told i would have to pay for the repair.i sold my honda accord coupe for a 4 door thinking honda/acura products were safe and reliable.i have read further about recall processes and they don't always fix the problem but the dealership can state the recall was remedied.i have an infant and that is why i bought a 4 door.i really am concerned about the safety of this vehicle and i have researched and found others with the same scenerio in which they have serviced the recall and the vsa light comes on again only to be told it is a 2k fix that may not fix the problem. I really need some help at this point, i am driving my infant and would hate for the car to malfunction causing me to have an accident. Recall s87, s88, and s89. This light appears whenthe car is in motion.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the steering wheel seized and the vehicle stalled without warning. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle. A police report was not filed. The driver sustained a head injury that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 186,000.

I was driving down the road when my car jerked and then would not shift out of 1st gear.i had to have it towed in and was told that my transmission needed to be replaced.

Found a strawberry milkshake in the radiator overflow tank. Diagnosis: failure of transmission cooler inside of radiator.

The vehicle was unable to be driven safely. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin and failure mileage were not available.

I pulled car out of driveway and as i reacher speed of 25 miles it started jerking badly. It stopped after speed increased. Did not happened again for few days and from that day it is getting worse day by day. Lot of noise sometimes when its shifting gear. Also when i get on highway i can smell some fluid burning. Sometimes it jerk very badly on curves.

My engine start vibrating when reach speed 20 mph to 50 mph

Hello,i am a very unhappy frustrated 2005 acura mdx owner. My car 2005acura mdx at82kmiles, i noticed car shifting gear was not shifting smoothly. Having difficulty while shifting gear & which went worse & very stiff. Also, a grinding noise coming, while accelerating at low speeds ( 25-40mph). It started to happen almost every time i accelerate the car or holding this speed on a slight incline level.i have had my mechanic to look at it & was told this noise is a transmission/torque converter problem. It's common to acura mdxs. & also, advised to take it to acura dealer.on oct-2009 car was placed for service @ authorizedacura dealer. Where dealer state that it's out of company warranty. The gear shift cable as well as transmission was replaced with 3-year warranty acura dealer at my (owner) expense 5k.again, in june-2012 @ 89kmileages, same problem started. My car shift gear was not shifting smoothly. My car needed excessive force in order to shift gears.again, car was taken to an authorized acura dealer and the gear shift cable was replaced. Dealer state that the gear shift cable was covered with rust. Which i believe the failure was a acura design flaw. The vehicle was repaired second time at my expense($400.00) for the same problem or cause.recently, again (sept-2012) same strange vibration/grinding noise started.it sounds identical to the issue i was having previously. However, this types offailure recurring every few months later. Unfortunately, i found the same problem still exists. It is very frustrating and feel very nervous while driving with my family.i even get scared to drive this acura suv in case it will stop on the middle of the way, while driving. I'm requesting you( nhtsa) to take this serious and possible life threatening matter with acura and make them accountable and responsible for it.

The transmission cooler connection blew out of the radiator, unfortunately there is no oil pressure switch for transmissions so i had no idea that the trans fluid was pouring all over the road.lucky for me i was just leaving the house and my friend saw it and stopped me.upon looking at the part -it has only 3 threads and i have found out this is a common thing for mdx and pilot suv's.i could have been in an accident due to the transmission failure that has resulted from this failure by others as i have seen on your site example:. ( pilot ex-l 244hp 3.5l sohc 24-valve automatic transmission failure).

Grinding noise on acura mdx 2005 model. Had the car for two years when problem started. The dealer could never identify the problem. Only when the car was out of warranty did they finally say that the transmission had to be replaced.i am the original owner and my car has 75k plus, but this problem started way before.this repair will cost me at least $5000. I'm sure honda knew about this problem and decided to ignore it. I feel cheated! honda must take responsibility for selling faulty cars and not owning up to it.i'm a million percent sure the dealers also knew it anddidn't say anything about it.they are negligent as well. I am sure i am not the only one with this complaint.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for further inspection, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the stalling problem.

While driving the suv in a busy street 30-45mph felt the vibration, grinding, the triangle distress sign came on and felt the vehicle is going to stall. Managed to get the suv to the parking lot on the right side. The suv completely stalled there and we got it towed to the acura dealer. They looked at it and the technician gave us the initial diagnosis as "radiator has blown coolant line , fluids have cross contaminated and will take a lot of time to bleed out, also possible transmission failure in the process would need to retest drive after radiator replacement to see if transmission works".

Engine mounts on the acura mdx from 2003-2006 seem to fail regularly resulting in excessive torque on the transmission and potential steering input shimming.honda/acura is well aware of the early failure of these mounts per referencing tsb 06-014. Further evidenced by numerous inputs of multiple mount failure within a year.this is a significant defect that honda/acura should address with either enhanced design or warranty.http://www.mdxers.org/forums/14-problems/29355-broken-engine-mounts-send-me-your-information.html

While driving at a speed of approximately 65-70 mph the car speedometer fell to 0 instantly and the car decelerated while the engine was still operating. Car was towed to dealership. With first incident (occured 1/18/05) the dealer could not idenitify or replicate problem. Car is currently at a different dealership being checked out for this reoccurance.

I have a 2005 acura mdx and felt the car noisy while driving after a while the vsa light came on and stayed on. Thank god i purchased an extended warranty because this happened 1 month after the manufacturers warranty expire. They had to replace the transmission at a cost of $3900.

2005 acura mdx rear main seal failure around 70000 miles. Most of the maintenance is conducted by owner with genuine acura parts purchased on-line at bernardi acura, massachusetts. Notice oil stain in garage around 70000 miles, now at 76000 in dripping so i took it to dealer in fayetteville, nc for inspection and repair. Asked for help from manufacturer to mitigate cost but was denied base on dealer service history. Have read more complaints in forums. To me this is a defective part. To replace a $10.00 seal cost over $1000.00.

Acura mdx vent clips always break and it's common problem with all the mdx models irrespective of the year. I have a 2005 mdx and the air vent clip at 52k. Its not covered under extended warranty or certified warranty. I have to replace the entire center panel which costs around $250.00. I see lot of acura owners complaining about this on webistes.http://204.16.221.2/direct/view/.f143463/0 (edmunds)please do google you will find lot of users posting problems with acura mdx air vent clips.this is a most common complaint across the board for acura mdxacura is trying to rip customers by selling a bad product.

I don't know if this counts but here i go.i purchased my new acura 2005 mdx over 3 months ago. I know this is not a recall but wanted to make you aware of a booming sound that is coming from the sub-woofer in the rear. Its almost if the woofer is loose inside the rear of the car. I guess a lot of other 2005 mdx owners are having the same problem.its a procedure where the interior has to be taken off and an adhesive is put around the subwoofer to secure it to the vehicle.you might want to report this to acura. I hope this helps.

I first noticed the issue when driving in stop and go traffic.everytime i started from a stop or hit the brakes to stop there was a thudding noise or bang sound.i took it to the dealer to check it out and they say it is a know issue with this vehicle because of the way they had to situate the gas tank to accommodate the third row seats.it happens when the gas tank is not completely full and the fuel moves in the tank and make s the tank expand and causes the noise.there is nothing they can do about it.i called the manufacturer, they said same thing, they know about it but not going to do anything about it.

Starting grinding after i had all recalls done i noticed the vsa light is now on an. Didnt have any issue before the vechical at 25 to 40 mph starts to shutter an makes me feel very unsafe ... I bought this car with the specific ability to keep me safe an have everything i need.

I took my 2005 acura mdx in to the dealership to have an unusual sound checked out. It occurs while accelerating slowly to about 40mph. I was told that the torque converter needed to be replaced. I had a warranty purchase when i bought the vehicle so i did not incur any expense for this repair. The next week, the d4 light was blinking indicating a possible problem with the transmission. I took it in again and i was told that the 4th gear pressure switch was probably defective, as it was just replaced along with the torque converter. Ironically, a friend was having the same problem. She took her 2005 mdx in for service, had the torque converter replaced (unfortunately she did incur an expense), and the next day her d4 light was blinking. Her vehicle is being repaired as i write this complaint. My concern is that the transmission in this vehicle is defective altogether. As i have done a little research, i have discovered that this is fairly common with the acura mdx model.

The car jumps into neutral at anytime while driving the vehicle. If you come to a stop or even trying to accelerate while attempting to merge into traffic it will just stop and the rpm will rev up. You will have to come to a complete stop and then place in neutral and then back in drive and it may go or may not go... Really just depends on how the car wants to act that day.it happens all the time, city street, parking lot, highway, when coming to a complete stop, low speeds during school zone or residential area.

While driving the suv in a busy street 30-45mph felt the vibration, grinding, the triangle distress sign came on and felt the vehicle is going to stall. Managed to get the suv to the parking lot on the right side. The suv completely stalled there and we got it towed to the acura dealer. Gear shift lever became harder and harder to shift over the time and then seized. Noticed heavily corroded shift lever linkage at the transmission end. The linkage design seems to be a poor. Exposure to elements makes it to corrode and seize. I had to apply wd40 to loosen the linkage and then coat it heavily with anti-seize compound.

The acura mdx that we (myself and my wife) own began to show pronounced transmission problems during october, 2012. We purchased the vehicle only one month prior. Initially, after inspection by the dealer, we were told that the issues we were having with acceleration and downshifting related to clogged fuel injectors, but the problem did not diminish once they were cleaned. The vehicle would "rev" at high rpm's during acceleration and would "bang" and jolt when the vehicle downshifted. We had a thorough transmission inspection and learned that the vehicle's transmission was failing. It had a limited warranty which allowed for a used replacement transmission, which was installed by aamco in warwick, ri. Our out of pocket cost was still approximately $600.00.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated that while driving she heard an abnormal grinding noise. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the transmission torque converter. The contact stated she had previously received a letter from the manufacturer in regards to the failure. The dealer advised that the letter was sent to caution owners about the possible failures and that the computer would be updated to prevent the failure. The dealer advised that because the contact had already experienced the failure, they were unable to assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage were 80,000.

I have code p0740 which is tcc function.my trans is operating erratically and undriveable.after faithful service intervals the trans died in my car.acura denies knowledge of the problem even though there are thousands of people their torque converter failed due to a design flaw.i was almost killed when the trans shuddered and stalled in the middle of the road. I am furious this car is expensive and no need for transmission failure at such low mileage. Please recall and help.

My 2005 acura mdx drive train will make a "judder" sound and can be felt in the vehicle all while loosing acceleration at around 30 to 40 mph.the resulting loss of acceleration leads to serious safety concerns while trying to merge into traffic on ramps. There was a recall regarding this problem from acura. I took the mdx into the dealer and they did a pcm program update.this seemed to fix the problem for about two months but now the problem is back again.

2005 acura mdx: leaving my neighborhood i took a right turn onto the main thoroughfare. After some acceleration (1st gear), i heard a loud squeal/blow. Immediately had no power to maneuver forward and off to side of road in busy traffic. Ironically, mdx was taken for maintenance at dealership. Mdx seemingly tested with flying colors 43 days earlier. No cautionary comments from mechanics at dealership.

Shuddering and wash-boarding, due to defective torque converter.acura mailed out transmission software updates december 2009 and november 2010 to address this on-going issue. I have kept mine and can send you the documentation on it if you would like to receive it.neither software updates fixed the issue.now they are saying we need to replace the torque converter. This is a well-known safety hazard (check out the internet forums on it) and can cause fatal accidents.please consider a recall, especially in light of acura's knowledge of the issue and unwillingness to fix it the proper way by replacing the part.this cannot be fixed by a mere software update.this issue is just as big and on-going as the toyota issue.please issue a recall on this issue.i understand that some of the acura sedans (tl's)also have this same transmission problem!!

Transmission issues.

Transmission start making noise, jerking and problem in shifting. Sometimes it shakes alot. Lot of people had the same problem in the past. I dont understand why there is no recall

Defective torque converter 2005 acura mdx.

When traveling between 30-45 mph car has vibration and grumbling sound as if difficulty in changing gears.took car to acura dealer and was told torque converter needs to be replaced.i had thetransmission flushed and hoping to have the car recalled since this seems to be an issue with other mdx's.was quoted $3111 plus tax to replace torque converter and think this should fall under a recall due to faulty equipment. This is a one owner vehicle maintained by acura service center and this seems unusual to have a torque converter fail at just over 100,000 miles.

Transmission / torque converter judder at approximately 30 mph when applying light pressure to accelerator.acura dealer applied 1255a9 software update, which seemed to correct the problem for awhile.the problem began reoccurring approximately 1 year later.

Had trouble with gear shifting very stiff.brought to dealer in 06/11 ,dealer just greased the cable, brought back in sept. 2011,told salt from roads caused it and would need new cable. Brought car to another acura dealer they said cable and lever arm need to be replaced because it was a design flaw the company has since corrected the problem.i had problem a few years earlier but did not think much about it until my wife used my car and had great difficultyand almost had an accident due to the gear shifting. I called acura (case number [xxx]) jonathan a acura representative only was giving me approximately 150.00 off from 450.00. I told him it was insufficient amount and said i would report it to nhtsa. He said if i did, he would withdraw the offer. He in essence blacked mailed me not to reportthe problem.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated the front windshield was replaced by safelite glass after a tree limb had fallen onto the windshield. The contact stated that the view from the replacement windshield was distorted. Additionally, the contact stated the gear shifter failed to operate as designed. The windshield was replaced by an independent mechanic. The vehicle was taken to acura of ocean (909 nj-35, ocean township, nj 07712, (732) 776-5200) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000. The vin was not available.

At speeds between 30-50mph when the engine is under a slight load and the rpms are attempting to hold between 1100-1400, there is a loud vibration and shudder. The rpms jitter back and forth jumping by about 100 rpms or so as it tries to hold a steady speed. I had it checked at a local transmission shop and they recommend that i replace the transmission because the problem will just continue to get worse until the transmission completely fails. The problem i'm facing with my 2005 sounds exactly like the problem described in the acura service bulletin for 03-04 models: http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/thebesthonda/2010-02-04_181956_b06-003.pdf.

My car's transmission system was damaged. Seems like it is a common problem with acura mdx. I wonder why there is no recall. The dealer covered the remanufactured part but i still had to pay for labor that ran to ~$3000.

I have acura mdx 2005 model the vsa lights and airbagslights keep coming up intermittently and there is a transmission slips too. I wondered why it was not recalled when others were recalled .the vehicle still moves but noticing a slip in the transmission power

As driving to work the vehicle all of a sudden stop shifting gears in the middle of the highway i was lucky enough to be able to stop to the right shoulder lane without getting into an accident. Prior to the car not shifting gears i heard a grinding metal noise coming from the middle of the engine, a noise that i've been hearing for the past couple of weeks. Come to find out it was the torque converter apparently it's a known issue that has been forwarded to acura but they have done nothing in reference to it.

The transmission gear shifts not smoothly, d4/d5 light blinking, won't excel when gas is applied, had to cut the car off, wait 5min, to drive for two blocks before having to repeat this process to get it home 12 blocks away, only would excel 20mph (bought it on wednesday, on tuesday of the next week, the problem began).the car has 127,000 miles and history of oil change/transmission services.after seeking answers, per repair pal, there's an issue with transmissions with all years of this model, some people have had to get the transmission repaired/replaced several times.please recall before someone gets hurt or worse dies.

Welli drive around 35 mph i hear this rumbling noise which as i later found out that it's the torque converter.so acura pushed out product update (others are calling it a recall) to stop this from happening because ultimately it could cause the torque converter to lock up and your car may not shift or have the ability to move because the total transmission will go.unfortunately this product update did not resolve the problem and i'm concerned that this may cause my car to stop on the middle of the highway and i won't be able to maneuver correctly.

At low speed and low rpm's up to 35 miles experiencing transmission jitter. Did software update at the dealer ( as per recall), problem re-appeared shortly after. Was advised to replace tranny for $4500. This appears to be well known issue with 2005 mdx's. Seeking financial assistance since it is clear design flow.

There's a shutter when driving between 35-45mph. I have read a few forums on this issue and it seems there is an update from acura but, i have not received anything on this matter. According to other owners this has not fixed the issue. Other owners have to replace torque converters and even transmissions due to a manufacture defect which is not fair at all to us the consumer. Please help us.

There is a grinding noise when traveling 35-45 mph. The dealership says the torque converter needs to be replaced.

This is the second transmission i put in my car , warranty expired and car is starting to jerk and make noise when accelerating. It cost way to much money to keep replacing a transmission if all the transmissions are having the same problem . Way to many people are having this issue . Why hasn't this been recalled yet?

Transmission has intermittent vibration between 30-40 mph.lasts approximately 10 seconds.acura is aware of the problem but will not fix the transmission.

I was driving down the road when my car jerked and then would not shift out of 1st gear.i had to have it towed in and was told that my transmission needed to be replaced.

Transmission started acting up while driving. The transmission fluid cooler connection to radiator failed due to corrosion and galvanic action. Lost all transmission fluid, coolant and transmission fluid got mixed in radiator. This is a known issue in acura / honda vehicle but manufacturer is not taking any action.

Vehicle suddenly brakes at freeway speeds and sways to one side.vsa light and warning light comes on.after couple of seconds, vehicle resumes freeway speed.this has happened few times in last 2 weeks.it causes the suv to sway and can easily lose control or drift into adjacent lane causing accident. After stopping and restarting the warning lights go away.

After you stop the car and keep in drive gear and pull the key out of ignition, the car rolls away.

Total transmission failure while under incline load driving, leaving vehicle unable to maneuver in traffic to reasonably get to safety.

I have a 2005 acura mdx premium model. The car is only driven 56,000 miles.there are always a grinding noise when speed is about 25 -- 40mph. I have been told it is a transmission torque converter problem.

Transmission was vibrating between 30 and 45 mph. Received letter confirming a computer update was necessary to correct failure. Dealership updated transmission. Still have minor issues with modification. The vibration was not apparent in 4th gear driving, only when driven in overdrive. Honda should redesign and recall.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx.while driving in reverse, the contact heard a clunking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle.the vehicle jerked backwards and struck a concrete pole approximately 2 feet away.the vehicle automatically shifted into drive, surged forward, and struck another concrete pole.both air bags deployed.the passenger in the front of the vehicle was trapped and unable to open the door.the police, ambulance, and fire departments arrived at the scene.a police report was filed.the contact had burns and cuts on her arms and face and a swollen right knee.she will have to undergo therapy on her neck and knee.the passenger was badly bruised.the contact spoke with acura on september 17, 2007 and they stated that their legal department would be in touch with her, however, they have not responded as of yet.this was the second time this failure has occurred.in the first incident, the vehicle was placed in drive and accelerated on its own.the failure occurred while driving 25 mph.the vin, engine size, and current mileage were unknown.the failure mileage was 32,000.updated 12/12/07

I have a 2005 acura mdx 140k miles.i have had transmission problems for the past year or so.yesterday i was driving on the freeway in southern california when the transmission started slipping.i would press on the gas and there would be hesitation.seemed to have a mind of it's own.rpm's would go up but the car would keep speed.had to get it towed from orange county to san diego.

I have a 2005 acura mdx touring model which is making grinding noise which seems to be transmission related. This has been going on for about a year. I asked my mechanic to check it and he could not come to a remedy. I have read of other 2005 acura mdx owners finding the same problem which means it is systemic/manufacturing flaw. This is an ongoing problem. I use premium gasoline so it isn't anything related to low grade gas. It is a loud grinding sound that happens when the car is just starting to get going, around 20-25 mph and if i slow down and accelerate again. I am sure it will continue to get worse. I also had the catalytic converter shield checked to make sure it wasn't loose and rattling and it was ok.*tw

Driving on highway at 75-80 mph, car starts vibrating, and the steering wheel starts shaking. Took it to the deal to check since i have a warranty (only 51k miles) and they claim they cannot duplicate problem.

2005 acura mdx transmission rough and noisy between 35 and 45 mph. It needs a torque converter and transmission replaced. This should be a recall due to many many other owners having the same issue.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated the vehicle required excessive force in order to shift gears. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the gear shift cable was lubricated; however, the failure recurred a few months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the gear shift cable was covered with rust and the failure was a design flaw. The vehicle was not repaired twice. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided little financial assistance with the repairs. The failure mileage was 65,000.updated 11/01/11*ljupdated 11/30/11

I purchased the car pre-owned from the original owner. I have all their service records and all service was done at the acura dealership. Within a month of purchasing the car at around 70k i noticed a grinding or growling noise when accelerating at low speeds between 25-40mph. Within a month it started to happen almost every time i accelerate. About a month after that around 73k miles i noticed that i have a vibration when accelerating at low speeds. I haven?t taken it to the dealership as of yet because my old honda dealership i no longer trust, and the acura dealership near me has extremely terrible reviews. I have had my mechanic look at it when this first started to happen and he believed it could be the torque converter. I owned a 2000 honda accord before this and honda eventually extended the transmission warranty to cover bad torque converters. Honda/acura is aware of this issue and they are not being responsible.

My 2005 acura mdx has encountered problems where the car suddenly stops when the brake is applied and fails to accelerate smoothly (the car lurches during acceleration).this usually occurs at slower speeds (<30mph).this has occurred on numerous occasions.acura service has been unable to diagnose the problem despite our pleas to find the problem.sometimes the problem is ameliorated when the ignition is turned off and restarted, similar to a computer reboot.the most recent incident, today, did not rectify itself when the car was restarted.this situation is dangerous as the car is susceptible to rear-end and other collision when the car "locks up" during acceleration or braking.

2005 acura mdx. Transmission problem. Seems others on the forums have complained of an intermittent vibration in the car, the diagnosis was the torque converter the other cars. I am having the same experiences these other people have had. ,however since i cant replicate the problem at the dealer no one is doing anything.

Not sure what equipment it is, but i have trouble accelerating in my mdx.i thought it was normal until i drove my sister's rl. I couldn't believe the difference. Whenever i am driving, especially when accelerating i have to floor the car to get it to move it seems. Its especially problematic when i am getting on a highway and trying to merge into traffic.i have to actually put my seat further so my entire foot can now be on the gas to get it to accelerate or make it seem like it is.took it in to a dealership (thank god for extended warranty) and don't know what they did, but it helped only for a short time. The problem was back in less than weeks and its so hard to get to a dealership because they are not in my town and i have to get someone to take it for me.i have been reading others having the same problem and now see its the torque. Is there a permanent fix for this.

Transmission rough and noisy starting on 35 mph. It needs a torque converter and transmission replaced. These car is become dangers to drive, you don't know what to expect any moment. This should be a recall due to many many other owners having the same issue. I just call acura customer support and them sad that i have to pay for an estimate ($200-300) and then ($3000) for work which should be done, because warranty is expired. Is this some kind of catch for the customers right after the warranty period? it is too many complains on 55,000 to 80,000 miles for that car. Is this something that honda invented to collect more money from the customers? i personally cannot trust honda anymore. This is ridiculous, a specially if you compare the price on this car, which is already overpriced based on the fake reliability.that issue must be recalled by honda immediately, if they want to keep good name and not follow the toyota, with their problem. I was thinking i am buying god car, but i purchase nothing but the trouble.

Since my purchase of a brand new 2005 acura mdx from the dealer, i have performed all of the scheduled maintenance and over the last year the car has started to shudder or vibrate when it reaches @40mph.the car has @57k miles.

2005 acura mdx torque converter jutter at speeds of 25-40 mph.

At 30 -45 miles per hour, get a rumbling noise.. Took to dealership and had to have torque converter changed.

Transmission starting making a grinding noise around 40 mph with ~70k miles.at 96k, the car broken down while driving at highway speeds.dealer has indicated the transmission needs replacement at estimated $4k, but can't currently find a replacement or rebuilt one available.

My 2005 acura mdx is making a shudder or grinding sound between 25 and 40 mph while accelerating.i have found that this is a common issue and is related to a faulty torque converter.nhtsa has issued a "service bulletin" for this exact same problem for all acura's for model years 2003-2004.this bulletin has not been issued for 2005.all should be recalled and corrected at acura expense. Nhtsa item# ch.cfm 10022468"torque converter shudder or vibration between 35-40 mph" .

2005 mdx. Within one year of purchase, a high pitched ringing was identified to the acura dealer. Sound was dismissed as normal. For the next four years the sound recurred on acceleration and uphill driving. At 64,000 miles the ringing sound was diagnosed by the dealer to be a failing torque converter. Torque converter was replaced by the dealer (warranty). One year later, the transmission began making a rumbling sound while accelerating between twenty and thirty five miles/hour. Also, the ringing noise re-emerged. Car was taken to dealer. Dealer informed us that there is a recall on our mdx regarding the rumbling problem--told it is an electronic problem requiring a one hour fix. (though at this time i can find no information about this supposed recall). The mdx was given to dealer for fix. After the first day, dealer informed us that the fix had not solved the problem, and they would try again (at the direction of acura technical support) the next day. Again, the dealer informed us that the problem was not fixed. Dealer's mechanic has told us it is the transmission that is faulty, but unfortunately acura technical support is refusing that diagnosis. The car is now going on its fourth day in the dealership and we have been told by the service adviser that acura is unwilling to address the problem beyond the electronic adjustment. We have been advised by them to drive the car until the problem gets worse, then bring it back. The problem, prior to dropping the car off at the dealer this last time, occurred almost constantly while accelerating slowly between 20 and 30 mph, at times feeling as if the car may stall. It has yet to pose a safety hazard, but has completely eroded our confidence in the vehicle's ability to take extended trips. Fear of breakdown keeps our trips limited to twenty miles or less. We have spoken to a lawyer and will file lawsuit if acura does not address this obvious and unacceptable flaw.

Beginning in 2006 i started to experience a hesitation and a hissing sound in my 2005 acura mdx at hwy and local rd speed for the past three years i have taken the vehicle to the dealership only to getthe same response of unable to duplicate. I recently took the vehicle to the dealership again on 11/09 and this time they were able to duplicate the problem which was a bad torque converter which required the replacement of the transmission. The dealer claimed the issue started at 58,000 mile and therefore out of warranty. The dealer wants $4000.00 to replace transmission. Still contemplating offer. I have discovered blogs that states an ongoing torque converter and transmission problem with the acura mdx from 2001--2005 including a recall for 2001-2002.

2005 acura mdx.a shuddering noise is heard between 35 and 45 miles per hour and the engine speed increases by a few hundred rpm.most often occurs while holding this speed on a slight incline or level.torque converter was replaced at 78,209 miles on 11/18/2009.this temporarily resolved the issue, but the problem recurred and the torque converter was again replaced at 89,370 miles.this failure rate is excessive.

2005 acura mdx has had issues on multiple occasions where the transmission vibrates or shudders at about 1200-1400 rpm and under a light to moderate engine load.the torque converter has been replaced twice and the issue is starting again.mileage on vehicle is about 80k.

Torque converter slipped - failure of transmission - acura mdx 2005

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated that the vehicle had been experiencing a recurring failure with the transmission which would intermittently skip. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact wasinformed the failure was not a safety concern. The failure continued to occur and the vehicle was taken back to the dealership where the transmission was then replaced. The contact was told that the replacement transmission was new but upon speaking with the manufacturer, he was informed that the transmission was re-manufactured. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The current mileage was approximately 151,000. Updated 11/03/10. *lj

2005 acura mdx torque converter failing at 75,000 miles.reduces my ability to accelerate and has put my in a very dangerous situation when merging into traffic.

Torque converter shudder or vibration between 35-40 mph.

Around 40,000 miles my acura mdx 2005 began making a low groaning noise at 25mph and 35 mph took it to the dealer and found it was the torque converter.i also suspect that the transmission needs to be replaced due to the medal shavings in the fluid.this is the 2nd acura mdx i have owned. The first was a 2003 but the dealer assured me that the problem was addressed in the 2005 version.im thinking about a class action law suit.

Transmission problems on acura mdx.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. While driving at approximately 30 mph, the contact noticed a grinding noise in the transmission when he depressed the accelerator pedal lightly. There was also a pulling sound coming from the transmission area. The noise continued until the accelerator pedal was depressed harder or the vehicle slowed down. The vehicle had not been inspected at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000. The current mileage was approximately 54,500. Updated 07/29/10updated 08/03/10

We took our 2005 mdx (89k miles) for the torque converter recall about a month ago. After they "fixed it" we noticed it was still shuttering. So, we took it back to them and they removed the transmission, replaced a few other things and the shutter went away. That was 3 weeks ago.today, i was driving and noticed the d5 light started blinking. In reviewing other internet posts, it can mean the transmission is going out or a switch is overheating/failing. I'm not experiencing any other problems so he said that it is probably the switch and that sometimes that happens when a transmission is removed and put back in. So, i took it into the acura dealership today and they are currently looking into it. On the phone, i said "it wouldn't cost anything to get the switch replaced...right?" he went on to say well if you don't have the extended warranty, then yes. I'm going to fight this one for sure...they had to pull the transmission because of the torque converter recall....i'm sure that is what is causing it....it's just a coincidence that 3 weeks after they worked on the transmission that now it the d5 light is blinking? i don't think so.

A vibration occurs in the transmission from 20-40mph on a consistent basis.the issue does not create diagnostic codes for dealer computers.dealer indicates it is a transmission torque converter issue.

Hello, i am a very frustrated acura mdx owner. I hd purchased2005 acura mdx brand new. I usd the suv for 3 years when i started hearing a "vibration" or "judder"noise while cruising between 20-45 miles per hour. In december 2010, i received a recall and was very happy that the issue will be resolved. I took the recall notice sent by honda motors and went to the alhambra, ca acura dealership. The dealership updated the pcm a/t software . The cause in the work order was mentioned as product update - pm update for lock-up clutch function. Software update s/b# 09-037. I got it update within 3 hours and finally felt happy that my suv will be running fine. To my utter dismay, i found the same problem still exists. It is very frustrating and feel very nervous while driving with my family. I even get scared to drive thesuv in case it will stop on freeway.nhtsa is a governing body to help such situation. I am pretty sure, this issue has been reported before in nhtsa web site. I earnestly request nhtsa to take this serious and possible life threatening matter with acuraand make them accountable and responsible[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

I own a 2005 acura mdx touring, just purchased 3 weeks ago.2 days after purchase a heard a grumbling/scraping noise coming from under the center console area, and over the past 3 weeks the noise has gradually started occurring more often.after getting an aamco technician to look at the problem he stated that the torque converter on the transmission would need replacing at a cost of $2,700.after researching online, several people have had problems with the mdx transmission across many year models, along with the acura tl's transmission, all seem to be faulty torque converters.many online bloggers have stated to me that even after getting the torque converter replaced it ended up failing again, anywhere from a month to a year later.acura doesn't seem to have a real fix for the problem, they just replace one faulty part with another.this part, after researching online, seems to malfunction way too often, and i believe would be grounds for a company recall.my mdx is currently sitting in the garage until i come up with the money for the fix, but am extremely concerned it will just happen again.the fault in this part seems to be a design issue and not from normal wear and tear given the time between recurrences other mdx owners have addressed.thank you for your time and i know that together we can address this issue, bring it to acura's attention and then hopefully they will make this right.

My transmission failed . I drive an average of 80 miles to and from work. Most of it was highway driving. I would notice some hesitation at low speeds in about 50,000 miles but would go away. At approximately 100,000 miles the problems started getting more noticeable.the time leading to the eventual failure of my transmission was a shudder during low speeds between 20 to 40 miles per hour. Then hesitation during acceleration and then eventual slippage of the gears which almost cost me an accident because it happened when i was driving in the highway. Luckily i was able to exit right away and avert any difficulties getting help at the side of the road. I brought it to a dealership which recommended the replacement of the transmission.

The 2005 acura mdx that i purchased from an acura dealer was brand new when i bought it. While the car was in my possession, i did not abuse the car and i performed all of the maintenance on it. Once the car reached 100,000 miles, the torque converter began to break and at 106,705 miles the torque converter had to be replaced by an acura dealer. Replacing this torque converter cost me $2793.85.

Just purchased a pre-owned 2005 acura mdx on nov 3, 2010 with 67,500 miles.after 3 weeks of driving the vehicle, i started experiencing the same problem as many owners have reported - engine / transmission makes shuddering noise when accelerating between 30 - 45 mph.the same noise occurs when the vehicle down-shifts or cruise at the same speed.the odometer was at approximately 68,000 miles when the noise started to surface.it's been only about 6 days since the problem started and the noise is becoming more frequent.seems to be a common problem reported by many acura mdx owners, but after doing some research online i did not find a permanent solution.seems that acura / honda manufacturer chooses to not be accountable and remains silent in offering a real solution or recalling the faulty components - very disappointing from a long time customer of honda products.

Had to replace the torque converter on my 2005 acura mdx.seems to be a problem just by searching the internet.now i hear a groaning noise in the rear as i accelerate and turn the wheel at low speed.

I own a 2005 acura mdx.this summer i began noticing a strange vibration and noise when accelerating in 4th gear.also, the starter motor produced a grinding noise when starting the engine. After only 57,000 miles, i had to return it to the dealership for a new starter motor, torque converter and motor mounts.fortunately, it was still under warranty and the dealership replaced all parts gratis.this was an expensive vehicle and i expected quality engineering. After reading about the ongoing issues acura mdx is experiencing regarding torque converters and transmissions, i decided to put this on the record.

2005 mdx torque converter replacement @ 55,000 miles, out of pocket cost, $ 3000.00grinding noises @ 35 mph.

2005 acura mdx makes grinding noise when accelerating between 35 and 40 mph.this started occurring around 30,000 miles and continues to this day.there are many reports of this exact same problem on various automotive forums.this was reported to the dealer while the vehicle was under warranty, however, it was not addressed until i took the vehicle in approximately one year later with significant documentation regarding the problem.the dealership presented the case to honda and they are willing to replace the transmission torque converter however i must pay 25%.this does not see fair.

I have approximately 57,000 miles on my 2005 acura mdx.i had been experiencing a noise coming from the engine at speeds around 20 - 25 and 40 - 45.i was told by the dealer that i needed my torque converter replaced.this appears to be a common problem on this particular vehicle.i feel that is unacceptable on a $40,000 car with so few miles/years on it.

Car is making a grinding noise at approximately 30 to 40 m/h.i had the timing belt changed and was told this noise is a transmission problem that is common to acuramdxs between 02s to 06s.i have justified the costof acuras because of their longevity and am very upset over the repair cost of $4000.why hasn't acurabeen forced to stand behind this defect when it seems to be so common when i investigated on the internet.

Purchased a 2005 acura mdx in september 2008 - approximately 48,000 miles - still under factory warranty.about 6 months later noticed a noise/vibration at about 20 - 30 mph while acceleratingwhen car was cold. Around 60,000 miles this noise/vibration became more frequent and louder at 30-40 mph.this also began happening while accelerating.would downshift to have power to make it over a hill or overpass without noise/vibration.took to local acura dealer in march 2010 to check out and was told it was the torque converter.acura dealer replaced torque converter at 67,533 miles with new acuratorque converter (so i was told) - acura paid for some of replacement.car now has 73,400 miles on odometer and same noise/vibration is beginning.noise/vibration occurs everytime you drive the car and once again is getting much louder and more frequent.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. While driving 35 mph the contact noticed a grumbling sound in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the torque converter needed to be replaced. There were no prior warnings. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were 72000.

- the contact stated that while driving his 2005 honda acura mdx at 40 mph,the contact'sdaughter put the driver's side rear seat belt around her neck, then let the seat belt go; the seat belt retracted ,which in turn began to strangle her.the seatbelt would not release, it just got tighter around her neck. Onstar had to be called.the seatbelt had to be cut to release her neck.

Acura mdxfront right bumper accident .no passenger only driver accident caused seat belt deployment on passenger side withoutit being occupied not occupied drivers side. Needed replacementcomplete systemofboth seat belts and sensors. Air bags did not deploy in error.accident approximately 5 to 7 mph with bumper damage and grill.ice on private road near house.car hit tree on turn.

Dt*: the contact stated a child was playing with the center rear seat belt, which locked and cut the child's neck.the vehicle was parked when the incident occurred. The dealer replaced the seat belt free of charge. Updated 03/07/07.

It was a cold night in january and i was using the seat heater.my wife was with me.we smelled smoke as my driver's seat got very warm.we never saw flames, but there was smoke.we immediately pulled over and turned the seat off.it left a hole about the size of dime in my leather seats.i have contacted acura corporate to no avail.my car is out of warranty and they refuse to admit any issue.based on their assessment, i should have allowed the car to go up in flames, which would have happen had i not shut off the heater.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated that driving 55 mph, the vehicle would veer to the right and then the brake would engage independently. In addition, the vehicle stability assist (vsa) warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was previously repaired under a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 13v092000 (service brakes, hydraulic, traction control system). The same day the recall remedy was performed, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for the most recent defect. The technician stated the failure was contributed to the yaw sensor. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 184,000. The vin was not available.

The issue at hand regarding the vsa (vehicle stability) for which a recall had already been issued.my vehicle was taken in and received the recall.this however did not resolve the issue which is a serious issue many others i have spoken with face.the "yaw rate sensor" malfunctions causing similar but more dangerous situations than the "wiring harness" acura claims to have resolved the vsa issue.there is a loud grinding noise, the left front tire seems to brake very hard pulling my vehicle into oncoming traffic and nearly flipping the vehicle the on 7/28/15 at 65 mph.the situation is extreme as others are experiencing.it is not a brief and non drastic pull.if both hands are not on the wheel at the time of malfunction the vehicle may very well flip over.i took my vehicle into the dealership explaining the issue figuring the issue was linked to the recall; however, it is not.the yaw rate sensor is causing my car to think i'm spinning out which immediately stops sending power to the front left tire causing my car to veer hard to the left. They wanted $75 for an inspection as well as $1200 to resolve the issue.this seems like an extremely dangerous issue for there not to be a recall.please look into other who have experienced the issue.

Well when i did a sudden emergency stop because a car in front of me slammed their brakes i noticed that my brakes didn't lock up to cause the abs system to trigger in case i had to do some maneuvering. Honda evidently recalled brake boosters in some of their other model cars but not this one.this maybe the problem not sure.but it's awfully dangerous.i am on a acura mdx forum and there are others who've complained about it.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, he heard a grinding noise and the vehicle pulled to the passenger's side and decelerated independently. The contact stated that the failure recurred the following day while driving 45 mph. After a third failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 13v092000 (service brakes, hydraulic, traction control system) was previously done on the vehicle.after the repairs were completed, the tpms , vsa, and traction control lights illuminated then the failure recurred. The contact had the vehicle towed back to the dealer who revealed a yaw sensor code via the diagnostic test.the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was not available.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver's side rear brakes activated independently with the vsa (vehicle stability assist) warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the driver's side rear brake pads and rotor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 13v092000 (service brakes, hydraulic, traction control system) as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 153,000.

I, along with my wife, pulled out of the parking slot with seat belts securely fastened and started driving. After a few seconds the car went into sudden acceleration. I had no control on brakes or accelerator. I had to find a way to stop the car. I steer the car on to middle curb of the parking lot. First i hit the gate, which was flexible and did not stop the car. Next thing i hit was a light pole. The car stopped with both air bags deployed, lot of damage to car (completely totaled) and causing personal injury to me and my wife who was in the passenger seat. Due to the speed of the car, the concrete base was lifted from the ground and the pole fell in front away from the car. We both checked into the hospital immediately after the crash. This was caused by manufacturing defect in the car. The reason i say this is because:a) i just left the prayer hall, where i go frequently and am familiar with the surrounding where other cars are parked and moving, people are walking to and from their cars, and had no reason to accelerate;b) i have been driving accident free for past 39 years, my driving record speaks for itself;c) driving is required in the profession i am in, where i have to visit clients few times a week;d) i am familiar with the car because i have been driving this car for over 4 years.e) i am a family man and not a reckless driver. I care too much for my family, and especially my grandson, to take a chance like this;f) i am perfectly healthy and conscious about my surroundings.it has been six weeks and we are still experiencing pain from the injury.i believe something needs to be done to avoid such incidents in future. This crash could have been fatal.

The driver side front brake randomly applies even if you don't touch the brakes.it pulls into oncoming traffic.the vsa! light comes on every time signaling an issue with the traffic control.there was recall that was supposed to fix the issue however it did not.it can occur at 70 mph or 5 mph, there is no rhyme to why it occurs however i fear for my wife and my children when it is driven.

2005 acura mdx with 60k miles. Pulled into starbucks to buy coffee came back out put car into reverse car started pulling out immediately while foot was still on brake car would not stop stepped harder pushing the pedal all the way car continue to reverse i panicked and pushed the shift stick to p *foot was still on the brake car still didn't stop it hit a row of hedges.*note i bought this car new from the dealer apart from the loud thuds that acura say due to floating brake calipers i had one other dangerous encounter.approx 5k miles on the vehicle while traveling on the freeway about 65mph all lights on the vehicle dash came on, lost all power and car started slowing down immediately. I pulled over to the side turn off the car waited for a while and started again it drove normally home. Never had a crazy incident till this morning at starbucks.i nearly had a heart attack and no longer needed the coffee.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx.while driving approximately 10 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle failed to slow down.she sideswiped a parked vehicle on the street.also, the brakes jolted spontaneously.there were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel and no injuries.the police was called to the scene and a report was filed.both vehicles were damaged.the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and it was discovered that the tie rod was the cause of the failure.the contact is waiting for a response from the insurance adjusters regarding the damages for repair.she was concerned of the safety risk involved.the failure and current mileages were 25,000.

Driving on city street 1 block from entering freeway i felt a strange grabbing and vibration type sensation from my 2005 mdx. A few feet further the car felt like i had stepped on brakes and gas at the same time and literally stopped in the middle of the street.the car behind swerved and barely missed me. I managed to get the vehicle to the side of the road and called acura roadside assistance.had i been on the freeway this would have caused a multiple car collisionthe roadside assistance was wonderful but i feel that since i only have 70,000 miles on this car; this should not have happened and the locking of the wheels at any speed is unacceptable. The repair was a replacement of the modulator assembly abs/vsa at a cost of $$1653. I just keep wondering what would have happened had i been on the freeway driving 70 miles per hour.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx.while driving 55-60 mph and when the brake pedal is depressed, the steering wheel shakes and vibrates.the dealer has had the vehicle five out of the eight weeks that the contact has owned the vehicle.after being diagnosed several different times, she was finally informed that the brand new tires were cupping and causing the failure.the current mileage was 31,000 and failure mileage was 25,395.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized and the contact could not move the steering wheel. In addition, on other occasions it was hard for the contact to make turns. The contact mentioned that it was very seldom when the steering functioned normally. The vehicle was taken to barber ford (640 e 8th st, holland, mi 49423 (616) 396-2361) where the mechanics stated that the vehicle was fine and had no failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 178,000. The vin was not valid.

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. While driving at an unknown speed, the steering lost power without warning. The vehicle was taken to pauly acura (847-433-8200, located at 2699 skokie valley rd, highland park, il 60035) where the reservoir hose was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 124,636.

Takata recall, my air bags has been malfunctioning turning off and on. I check if my vehicle is being recall but my vehicle is not in the database ? my acura mdx 2005 needs a recall

Whenever it is rainy or just rained and i have to roll down the drivers side, window a very strong musty smell shows up. Often the window has water streaks on the glass after i roll it up. It appears the seal on the window is not good. I am concerned about mold and the fact my door may rotting from the inside out.

When i tried to open the front passenger side window of my 2005 acura mdx suv, somehow, the window glass pushed the door open too, and damaged the outside door handle. Now, i can not open that door from outside, and i can not lower the window glass more than 5 inches otherwise the door would be pushed open by it.that incident almost resulted in a bad accident on the highway.

While driving ona highway our acura mdx car's front right rim had an unexpected rupture as a result the car stopped in the middle of the road. On first reaction, we thought we had a flat tire but later we found out the tire was ok but the tire rim was weak and hada hole leading to release of air pressure giving a feeling of a flat tire. We took our car to nearest dealer at 70 miles from the scene and paid to change the rim. The dealer mentioned they had never seen anything like this before. It was very scary for us to be in that situation , we could have been in a serious accident if there was a moving vehicle behind us.we strongly believe acura has defective rim which are big safely issue. We are looking for a complete check of our car for any other safety issues and reimbursement of our time effort, and cost of replacement of new rim and boughttire.

When i'm driving between 30 and 45 mph i hear and feel a vibration underneath the car. I've looked up the issue online and i've read dozens of complaints about the same issue, the torque converter.

I have acura mdx 2005 model the vsa lights and airbagslights keep coming up intermittently and there is a transmission slips too. I wondered why it was not recalled when others were recalled .the vehicle still moves but noticing a slip in the transmission power

I have a 2005 mdx. It allows me to take out my key without putting it in park. Being unaware, i turned it off while it was still in drive and it rolled back into another parked vehicle november of 2019. There is a report with the police department and my insurance covered the other vehicle's repair costs. It has rolled several times in the last couple years but luckily not into other cars. I don't remember having this problem prior to the last couple years. It is a safety issue and dangerous to others and if i can't get it repaired i would need to get rid of it. The problem is it is still in very good shape otherwise and has many more miles to give. There is no warning to help me remember to put it in park. This started happening sometime in mid 2018. Do i have any recourse?

Transmission issues.

My accident is still under investigation, but i am going to tell you about this so anyone who has an acura mdx will be aware. On the day of my daughters wedding, i was in a terrible accident in a parking garage. There were 4 passengers in the car. My transmission surged as i was in reverse hitting a cement pole, within a second, the car surged forward hitting another cement pole. The airbags thankfully deployed. I was burned, badly bruised and have neck and back injuries as does the passenger in the front seat. This car was totally out of control. After researching on the internet i have found numerous complaints involving transmission problems with the acura's. If i had been parked on the road, there would have been fatalities. I missed hours of the most special day of my daughters life. These memories were stolen from me. My car was at the dealer approximately 3-4 weeks prior to this accident. $700.00 for the car to be checked and ready to go! please do your homework if you are planning to purchase this car. I loved it too!

The contact owns a 2005 acura mdx. While driving approximately 10 mph and coming to a stop, the vehicle independently accelerated. The vehicle was taken to island acura (3350 sunrise hwy, wantagh, ny 11793, (855) 435-5850) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failure. The contact was given an estimate to replace the throttle body, but was informed that it may not remedy the failure. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.

The safety system which makes the driver's side power window stop and reverse when it encounters an obstruction during auto-up does not work on a consistent basis.if the window does not reverse if a body part is trapped, it can lead to severe injury of death.
