When i brought my car into the tire dealership where i had purchased my tires complaining of a shaking steering wheel (thinking one of my tires had lost a balance weight), that's when i discovered 3 of the 4 tires i had purchased a year ago september (and which had only 14,000 miles of wear) had all experienced the steel belt separating inside the tire.updated 09/02/15*lj updated 10/31/2017

Front tires chipping on the inside and outside. Told to get them rotated and alignment. 6 lug nuts broke off during the rotation and the alignment was not that far off. Told the tires where the wrong ones for that heavy of a vehicle. Took to the dealer and he laughed at me and said they would love to charge me to replace all my lug nuts and those where the right tires for the vehicle and he said i was lucky to get 35,000 miles out of them because everyone else only got 25,000 miles with the tires he then tried to sell me a new set of tires. Four days later the car decided to drive itself into a tree at 20 miles an hour. No air bags deployed but the car was totaled.

Mazda miata 2006, yokohama tire advana11a205/50r16, driving on i-10 on ramp about 45-50mph, big pop and thud, pulled over on shoulder, looked at back right rear tire had split on inside of tire between rim and tire edge about10 inches long.tire was maintained with correct air pressure and rotation byauto dealer that sold me the miata.the car dealership had a tires for life program on my miata and this was my second set and i had approx. 45,500 miles on the car.i was very thankful the tires had been rotated on the last oil change/inspection point on my cars maintenance program.--or that tire would have been on my front--probably would have flipped the car.i would like to know if this particular tire is defective or a fluke, because this is the kind of tires that my dealer will put on my miata for the entire time i own this car?thanks for your help.

On 2/21/17 at 6:25 am, traveling at 65 mph, my passenger rear tire blew out and became detached from the wheel.no evidence of puncture or valve stem issue. Took tire remains to discount tire in durham for replacement. Yokohama ykhtx. P235/75 r15.

Car began to shimmy as if out of balance in right rear on about 02-01-2016. Took to tire kingdom and they said it was a road "hazard" problem with delamination of the tread. There were no incidents that led to this occurrance it just "developed" no curbs or pot holes hit. This is fl roads are smooth. I lived in oh i know what a road "hazard" is. Tire kingdom, manager michael decosmo refused to send it in a defective tire. I replaced with same type tire at my expense. Called yokohama and they said tire dealer had to report this and would not address the issue.on 03-22-2016 my wife was driving through tx caled and said the car was "shimmying" and i knew it was another delamination. She slowed down until getting to a wal mart and they said yes it was delaminated. It was the right front. They had no tires that size and sent her to a local dealer that did. The dealer "crossroads tire service" had only two tires that size and she had them replace both front tires for safety with toyo tires.this dealer did write on the receipt that the tire delaminated. Tire kingdom would only report as a road hazard.i am also going to call yokohama but based on priror experience they will refuse to do anything. Do repair shops not have to report these type incidents. They are extrememly dangerous.this complaint involves two seperate incidents on two same make/type tires. One dated 02-10-2016 the other 03-22-2016. First incident speed was around town between 0-70. Second incident on highway at about 75. Tire model is not listed on drop down. Tires ar yokohama as530. The orange peel oil tires.first tire failure at approximately 15,000 tire miles seond failure at about 18,000 tire miles.

Yokohama yk520335/45r/17 tires...driving along with my 2001 audi s4 and started noticing a wobble or shimmy in the steering wheel. Kept getting worse. The tires have less than 20k miles on them so i though i needed an alignment. (entire front suspension has been upgraded).. I took the tires off to make sure i didn;t have a bent rim and noticed both front tires were worn out/cut on the outer corner/lip of the tires. I first thought it was caused by the control arms. My mechanic looked at them and told me that the belts had separated on both tires causing the tire to "deform" and then hit my control arms/wishbone. He said it looks like another 100 miles and both front tires would have blown apart. That really sounded like fun on the freeway at freeway speeds...! i rotated the front tires with the "good" rear tires, and have checked them every 20 miles. Absolutely no hitting or rubbing on anything. So yes, the belts had separated.

Yokohama tires 195/65r15 dot#479n-ebm1212.premature wear. Palm beach toyota will not honor 60 k warranty. Premature wear at 25k miles. Yokohama stopped manufacturing this tire because of complaints, so cannot get equal tire.palm beach toyota wants to charge me price of new tire. I have 60 k warranty.

April 12th i had the oil change in my 2009 dodge caravan at valvoline.as i was driving home my low light indicator came on.i checked the air pressure and they were all fine.i am in sales and do a great deal of travel in this caravan in the minneapolis area.i could feel the van pulling harder and harder to the right.when i pull in to the parking lot, the right front tire was low.the air valve blow out and complete deflated the tire.if i would have been driving, who knows what could have happened.i got the tire changed and brought the car to goodyear.i was telling me co worker about this and she has had the same thing happen to her 2009.

On april 13, 2010 i was told by the salesman that the yokohama tire is as good as the michelin tires that i had on my car. (1 of my michelin tires was showing steel belts, apparently from spinning my tires trying to get out of the snow on my gravel driveway this past mar 2010.)since the michelins were nearly 4 years old and the salesman said the sidewalls were rotting, on apr 13, 2010, i purchased 4 yokahama tires.on apr 17, 2010, i visited friends in rehoboth beach area of de and while prkg at the grocery store i hit a curb/prkg stop while prkg.the speed of travel at the time was at a coast since i had my foot on the brake at the time. The impact was so slight neither i nor my pass. Was prompted to inspect the tire.after a normal wknd of driving through town and then returning to my home in lexington, va., i noticed the bubble in the sidewall of the right front tire. There was no impact mark on the tire that i could see that would cause me to think that i had hit something sharp.the salesman who sold me the tire pointed to a spot on the bubble( i could not discern the mark)with a pen point and said that there is a mark on the tire and it seems that the bubble was caused by hitting something sharp.now, i do not contend that i did not hit a pkng/curb stop...i contend it was of no great speed at impact.i contend that this tire may be unsafe; especially if it had failed during my450-mile drive home from de.the salesman said, "well, if you hit it at just the right way, it will damage the tire."( i think my old michelin tires would have faired better and i promptly replaced the yokohama with michelins. I feel safer but feel this needs to be reported. There was no blemish, yet the sidewall inside the tire was jaggedly ripped approx. 1-inch in length.case # yokohama[xxx] claim adjustment no. [xxx]purchased from terry's tire town, henrico, va 23222 through lexington express lube, lexington, va. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I purchased tires from manteca tires in may of 2010. The tires were yokohama prada tires for a total of 359.80. I had the tires balanced, aligned and rotated at regular intervals.the tires from day one were making extreme noise and i had notified manteca tires that the tires were causing noise. They suggested to rotate them and use them for a while to see if the tires continued to make noise. I did so and then also took them in later to be rotated again and had them check the noise. They stated that i should let some more time go on them and continue to drive to see if again the noise would go away. It did not and the noise was getting worse. I did not feel that these were safe. They said i should contact yokohama, which i did. They told me to take it to a local tire company and get it checked out. Yokohama was claiming that the tires are not covered under warranty because they stated there was some cupping. I told them how can that be, when i never had this road noise with my last tires and i had these tires rotated, aligned and balanced. They said they would offer a 25 % discount on new tires. That is not honoring a warranty. A little over a year later, a person should not have to replace tires. Manteca tires then when on to fax them paperwork and talk to them, which it took yokohama three days to get back with them and then they only offered a 40% discount on new tires. If i have balanced my tires, rotated them and done everything i should as a car owner and those tires are still making noise, then it is clearly the fault of the tires. What would make me buy yokohama tires again, even at a discount, when they do not honor the warranty they offered in the first place. These are obviously faulty tires and i am not the first one to complain of the extreme road noise from these tires. If you research on the internet, there are several other consumers that have experienced the same with yokohama tires. They too, have complained of yokohama not honoring warranties.

Yokohama g-91 tires- on a subrau forrester 225-60-17 with less than 30k miles the tires were balding. Rotations were down between 6000 and 7000 miles- like clockwork. I wrote yokohama. I have not received a response. I have spoken with other owners, (subrau using g91) and they have noticed this problem, too. I have purchased another brand of tire as these are dangerous-

Had a blowout on right rear outside tire on vehicle (2008 mitsubishi fuso fe145) note: fe 145 was not an option to select for complaint). Truck was empty coming back from runs and had not encountered any obstruction on road prior to failing. Yokohama had already provided a credit for 2 tires previously replaced on our truck that were defective. This blowout showed evidence of tread separation. I'm concerned about the remaining 2 tires on truck and fear for the safety of others who have same tires.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota avalon equipped with yokohama ascend tires, size p205/60/r16. The contact stated that when the vehicle reached 55 mph, the steering wheel vibrated. The steering wheel did not vibrate prior to the tires being changed. The contact had the tires balanced again after the change, but the failure continued. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 47,086. Updated 08/20/12 updated 08/20/2012

Driving on highway, left rear tire pressure alarmed and went immediately flat, pulled over to the side, took to a service station who said that the metal/aluminum component to the tire pressure sensor valve stem had corroded, when that came off the pressure sensor was sucked into the tire and that was what caused the implosion.they said they see this commonly with these tire pressure sensor gauges that chrysler uses.i will now have to pay to replace all 4. I have called the dealer twice now, each time i left a message but they said parts department was not in, and would have to call me back.this could have caused a very serious crash as there was very little time for us to get over to the side of the road, but we were luckily in the right hand land and not going full speed.we did not report to police as the state trooper arrived on scene.
