Both front tires were worn in the middle after only 15,000 miles!when i went to have them rotated, they couldn't rotate them because there wasn't enough tread left.so, i went to replace the yokohama geolandar tires, but soon found out that there was no warranty, no pro-rated replacement...nothing!!! i had maintained proper inflation in both tires, but i noticed other 2008 toyota rav4 cars in parking lots with the same premature tread wear on front tires.how can toyota sell a car with tires that include no warranty?? so i had to pay for two new tires on a car that was less than 2 years old! i will never buy a toyota again!

Purchased a new 2017 lexus nx on may 28, 2017. On june 23, 2017 while washing car for first time, i saw a crack/split in tire sidewall about 3-4" long. Advised dealer it was defect. Dealer argues it could have been due to hitting a curb. There has not been any accidents, running over nails or screws or hitting anything with the tire/car. This tire is driver rear side and i fear a blowout could occur. The crack has most likely been present since car was purchased. There are no scuffs, marks, etc. On tire. I have photos but no place to attach them here.

This is to notify you of a potential problem with yokohama geolandar g91 tires.on wednesday, august 3, 2011, i had a blowout in one of their tires located in the right rear of my suv.the tires are original equipment in a 2009 rav4, with 32,900 miles, and are inflated to a pressure of 32.5 psi.the tire thread is evenly worn to a depth of 5/32?, measured virtually everywhere along the tire, indicating even wear. The photograph below shows the tire wall with the dimensions, 225/65 r17 101h.the blowout occurred at 4 am, on a smooth road (sanibel-captiva road, between the 1 and 2 mile markers) while i was going between 35 and 40 mph.the ambient temperature was 82f according to the car thermometer.i do not think i hit anything, or that the tire was punctured, as you can see when i fold the piece over the space, as shown in the picture below.because of the speed and road conditions there was no damage to the vehicle, but the rim bent and cracked.i have four pictures and a detailed description in my files, and can share if you need them.i will replace the yokohama tires as soon as a replacement wheel arrives.

While driving approximately 55 miles hr in 820 i exited right on the weatherford exit and while in the turn the bd side tireblew out an the tread had come offcausing my car to spin out of control and go down an embankment in which we almost flipped my car before we could get it stopped in which it caused extensive damage to the rear drivers side of the vehicle.
Tire thread separation(s) , severely vibrated the whole vehicle at all speed..sever to very severe vibration as speed is going up to highway speed limits. At low speeds it feels like you are hitting a pot hole every tire rotation. Tire brand: yokohama geolander 235/65r17 dot fbls. Installed in a 2005 ford sportrac vin [xxx] used just over 14000 miles....all tire pressures, maintenance and recommended tire rotation has been serviced on the said vehicle.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Drive a 2000 ford expedition with yokohama geolander h/t s p265/70r17 and had blowout of one tire on the inside sidewall.extended over 15 inches and was close to the rim as evidenced in most blowouts.the car was parked for about 2 hours after a tire rotation when it ruptured abruptly.resulted in a tear of about 12 inches and then ended in an extension to the tread.
Cracks have developed around the inner and outer tread of all four tires after 14001 miles of wear on the yokohama tires gelolander 11/t-s. The cracks radiate around the circumference of the tire. Tread separation on all four tires.size p245/75r-16 109sdot fb8y.
2 yokohama geolander at tires with less than 30,000 miles had tread separation causing $7000 worth of body damage. The separations were separate occasions within 3 weeks of each other. First failure was on a freeway at approx 65 mph.a sudden severe vibration followed by a tread separation of the right rear tire.a lot of body noise was happening as the not-quite-separated tread flailed around the wheelwell aswas slowing and caused significant damage to body and rear bumper.second occasion was approx 3 weeks later while pulling a 5 horse trailer with 2 horses on board.this occurrence also was on a freeway at approx 60mph.while driving downhill and rounding a right hand turn, the left rear tire tread separated and caused a swerve into the lane to the left before slowing and regaining control of the vehicle.both tire casing appeared to have failed in the same way and they were purchased and mounted together so had exactly the same mileage on them.
I was on a major highway when i lost all gears on my car. I started to roll back.i am also going on my fourth set of tires on this car. The dealership seems to think this is normal.
I bought four yokohama tires lt285/75r16/dgeo hts from americas tire store in riverside,ca ,,,in2006 it was rim & tire package. Never had any issues with the tires until they past 30,000 miles ( there 60,000 mile tires) 8/21/2010 left my house to go pick up my daughter in orange county about half mile from getting on freeway i felt a thumping in the driver side steering tire, when i noticed a separation of the tread from cord in the form of a bubble.(lucky i did not get on the freeway) .drove to americas tire store directly from there,,were they confirmed that the tread had separated, and replaced the tire very nice customer service..9/1/2010 was going to lax to pick up my other daughter i was on the 91 freeway going the speed limit when driver side rear tire lost all tread loosing no air pressure throwing the truck to the shoulder of the frwy. Lucky i had control of the steering wheel managed to get off the frwy in one piece but the damage to the bed of the truck is over $3,000. Now yokohama says that some how this is my fault,, i fail to understand as a consumer how this is my fault when i rely on professionals that work in this field to look out for me and others that just want safe tires to run on.i have the other two tires that are showing the same cracking that theother two tires that failed showed and will some how get them tested to determine whetherthis is defect or not.
We were driving down road going about 55 mph. Our 2019 nissan rogue gave us a warning that our tire pressure was low. We immediately pulled over an inspected our tires. The tires appeared fine but the air pressure in the right rear tire was about 5 lbs pressure low. We immediately put the tire manufacturers recommended air pressure. Our vehicle warninglight went off and we completed our road trip. On the morningof 6-25 we noticed completed flat rear passenger tire.after further inspection of the tire, we noticed the tire tread had a slight tear from the inside of the tire to the outside of the tire.it was obvious the damage was not caused by road debris or any road hazards or miles on these tires.we have not put more than 12,000 miles on this tire.these tires were about a year old and the tread was within the safety depth.this could have cause an accident in which substantial injury or death could have occurred.yokohama tires should be ashamed of this lack of quality.it is believed this tire was manufactured in the yokohama mississippi tire plant in january- feburary of 2019.pictures can be given upon request.
On october 6, 2015, i was traveling on i-70 in southern utah when the rear driver side tire blew out.the tire was a yokohama geolander g91, dot fdf5 pc50814, size p225/65r17/60h.this tire was on my 2015 mazda cx5 when i purchased it in late august 2014.it had 10559 miles on it.road conditions at the time of the blow out were excellent and the road was very smooth as it had been recently paved.the tire was in 3 pieces, the two side walls and the bottom tread.there was no evidence of puncture.the gentleman who assisted in changing the tire said he was frequently called to that area for flat tire assistance, but he had never seen anything quite like this separation of the sidewalls from the tread.it seems this is a fairly common problem with yokohama tires from my reading of other complaints.
Hello,, i have a problem with my tires,i bought a brand new 2007 suzuki grand vitara in 2007,i have only 26,000 miles on it, i bought it to the dealer to get a oil change.they told me i am going to need new tires in the next 3,000 miles. They came with yokohama geolander g92 tires, i called yokohama tires about six times they kept on telling me that the tires that come with this suv don't have a warranty, they told me to go to a yokohama dealer were i live, so i went over there they told me the same thing.i pulled up on google, other people that bought similar suv's in 20007/2008, had the same issues, and a lot of them had blowouts while they were driving there suv's.once i read them all. I made copies of the all to show you,i called yokohama tires again i told them that if i get a blowout, and get into a accident and me or my family get hurt or worse that i am going to sue them. I would like to know how the united states of america lets companies like yokohama sell products to us, and they don't care about our safety at all, i think that yokohama tire company should be banned from selling tires to the usa, i have been a firefighter for the past ten years, there is a very big safety issue that needs to be addressed, all i want is to be refunded the amount that four new tires would cost me,and that yokohama should not be selling tires in the usa, they are very unsafe tires to be on our cars, yokohama doesn't care about the safety all the people in this country, they just care about all the money they make, can you please contact me if you have any questions about this issue, thank you very much.
My wife was traveling on interstate 79 and the passenger side front tire failed. The tire tread had separated from the sidewalls. The tires are yokohama geolander p225/65/17 g91a.
2009 rav 4 yokohama geolandar 225/65r17 35,680 miles.tires have been rotated every5k milesmy wife was on expressway going 65 mph, when left rear tire blewout .she had swerve three lanes into the breakdown lane, she called aaa which call the state police.aaa changed the tire.when she got home i looked a the rest of the tires and noticed all tires were drierotted along the sidewall.
I purchased 4 yokohama geolander h/t-s on a local repair shop on 02/2013. I took my vehicle infor my annual state safety inspection this year on 02/2015 i was told and it was brought to my attention that my tire are cracking between the inside and the outside treads. This tread separation cracking is an unsafe condition. The shop contacted tire company that supplied them the tire and they said they would only credit me 35% of the original tire price they would be replaced with another yokohama tire. These tires are 2 years old and have 30,000 miles on them. It seems i am being put in danger if i don't have them replaced and seems i am getting ripped off if i do have them replaced.
I have had 3 out of 4 tires purchased in 9/08 develop large "bubbles"at the rim and 1 one of them went flat.the others were noticed and changed and all tires had tears in them that were not visible when the tires were on the rim.the first tire had around 25000 miles on it when it developed a large bubble while we were traveling.the receipt from the dealership that replaced the tire said it had a cut in it.last week another tire went flat after i had driven over 400 miles and this caused me to inspect my tires and i noticed a "bubble" that started on the rim of another tire. When i took the vehicle in i had to buy 2 new tires because both of these tires had tears or cuts 1 1/2 - 3 inches long that were visible only after the rim was removed.these tires had around 40,000 miles on them.i have contacted the dealer i purchased the original tires from and i am in the process of working out a resolution with them.the 4th tire has a "ripple" in it in the middle of the tire, not around the rim, and the dealership has told me thatis from separation and is not unusual.i am also asking that they replace that tire for me.i still have the last 2 tires but will have to give them to the dealership when we work out a resolution.
We purchased a new rav4, in may 2009.yesterday while the car was parked the left rear tire explosively blew out the sidewall, the car has 2400 miles on it. The person who witnessed the failure said it sounded like a shotgun blast. I also found this in our toyota vehicle owner service records: by dealer 05/05/09toyota of mcdonough 5 0092548repair flat tireview details basically this car has had two tire failures in less than 3000 miles. A relative of ours, the one who recommended the rav 4 to us, had a similar experience with his new 2009 rav4 with yokohama tires, but since he was on the interstate traveling at a high rate of speed the tire was shredded to badly to determine the cause of failure.
Purchased the 2014 nissan murano new from nalley nissan decatur, georgia. Tires wearing tread quickly; 50% at 12800 miles. Tires are easily punctured. Twice thus far. Researched to find this is common for this tire resulting in some cases twith blow outs. See www.consumeraffairs.com/tires/yokohama. During servicing and tire rotation, i was told that this tire doesn't usually come on the murano from factory as it is considered sub-standard. I was told to inform nissan. Long story short. Both tire manufacturer and nissan refused to assist me to remove these tires. Tires are continuing to wear quickly on my front with no allignment problems or issues. A nissan specialist suggested that i contact the bbb if i a not happy.
Yokohama geolandar tiresg91 size 235/55r1899h peeling & falling apart i purchased a toyota rav 4 2008 at 27900 miles while having my oil changed ( note not at the toyota dealership) they informed me my front tires are falling apart. I made an appt. And took it in to toyota waited an hour and was told take it home with the bad tires no one their could help me or determine if this was a manufacturer defect. This does not appear to be a problem new to toyota rav4's.
On 04/09/2012, i took my toyota rav4 2008 for oil change at girard toyota, new london.toyota service department determined that the yokohama geolandar g91a radial tubeless m+s made in japan d7475l-11, 225/65r17-101h installed from factory when i bought the rav4 (as new vehicle). I called toyota, which issued case #:[xxx], saying that toyota's warranty does not cover the tires. Toyota referred me to yokohama, fullerton, ca, tel: (800) 722-9888. I called yokohama which issued case #: [xxx]. Yokohama referred me to tireplus, east lyme, ct. I took the rav4 immediately to[xxx] at tireplus. He determined that the threads of the 4 tires were in very good condition (#19); however, each of the tires (all 4 tires) are cracking between the threads. It is very clear that the tires were defective from manufacturing as my rav4 has only been driven for 16,600 miles. Yokohama indicated that they are not willing to replace the defective tires covering 100% of the cost that they will only cover 70%. Toyota and yokohama should have sold me this rav4 with tires that adhered to quality standards - that do not risk the lives of my family, relatives, friends, the public in general. Due to safety, i will go ahead paying to replace the 4 tires. I will appreciate that regulators look further into this issue as i know that other families and the public are at risk with these defective tires as documented in public complaints in the internet ? i have included the internet link about the complaints for reference. I also will appreciate if yokohama pays in full for the replacement of the 4 tires. Thank you in advance for our time and effort. I have a 2007 grand vitara, it had yokohama geolander g92255/70 r16 tires. The back tires wore out by 13000 miles. I went to the dealer and they stated i was over inflating the tires. The problems is that the tsp light kept coming on so i would put air in them and it would go off. I had a warranty on these tires but no one would honor it because i was told i put to much air in my tires. I argued with them stating that the tsp light kept coming on. Even the front tires have worn significantly and has some buldging and i never put air in those ones. I ended up buying 2 new tires, not yokohama! even after i changed the tires the tsp light kept coming on and my car was in the shop 3 times after for the same, tsp light coming on.

Cracks have developed around the inner and outer tread of all four tires after 14001 miles of wear on the yokohama tires gelolander 11/t-s. The cracks radiate around the circumference of the tire. Tread separation on all four tires.size p245/75r-16 109sdot fb8y.
