Vehicle had transmission repaired in august of 2001.soon thereafter, it started to have difficulties with shifts.now, the vehicle grinds going into 5th gear / refuse to go into 5th and will actually force itself out of 5th gear while at highway speeds, which is obviously unsafe trying to merge onto / drive on dc highways.took it to a dealer on may 30th, who said they could not recreate the problem.took vehicle to same dealer on july 5th, rode with shop manager who recreated the problem but was told it would be at least 2 weeks for repair.took vehicle to another dealer, who had it all week, repaired some component, but problem resurfaced on trip home from dealership.contacted dealer, who suggested that i could drive a vehicle in this condition on the highway for the next two weeks, then bring it in.i am teaching in another state for the next two weeks, so i am in an urgent need of a functional vehicle.
Front disc brakes do not function properly.i bought this vehicle in may 1997.approximately 6 months after driving this vehicle i started noticing front disc brake problems.the vehicle was taken to gunderson chevrolet were they "grinded" and lubed front "knuckles?" .problem continued and consisits of "jerky"and "clunky" front brakes.vehicle has been taken to a private repair shop were front disc pads were replaced and front rotor were turned due to warping. Vehicle continues to exhibit a "jerky" braking motion which is annoying and could possibly cause an accident due to improper braking.i believe that this front brake system is very poorly designed and would expect that gmac should repair this $35,000 vehicle which should have a reliable and smooth front braking system.( dot number: tire size: 235/75/15 )
Seat and/or components moves at vehicle take off and stops making also making a bold noise on driver seat giving the sensation that driver does not stop/moves w/ vehicle wich can be dangerous at any required manuvering moment. ( dot number: tire size: p235/70r15 )
Have been unhappy with squealing of tires since the beginning, but when the air pressure was checked it was always at the pressure on the door sticker-26 pounds.not only noise but seemed to be bad traction-skids to halt rather than stops on wet and dry pavement, especially on decline.6/11/02totally out of control, no traction.went to dealership, they told me 26 pounds was too low, the tires needed more air.when i brought to their attention that the door sticker says 26, they said they coulodn't tell me to put in more than what's on the sticker, but the tires needed more air.called general motors talked with a pat lewellen(my request number s1=909) who called the dealership, talked with the service manager brian cook who told her exactly what he had told me, that more air shouldgo in the tires.she also could not tell me to add air because of the door sticker, so she gave me the number for uniroyal. Ken fedyck-told me that i could put in a couple of extra pounds if i wanted to but not too much because if i overinflate there could be center wear, in any case he also could not tell me to put in anything over26 pounds, it was my decision, "it's up to me as the consumer".i do not think the safe level oftire pressure, when wrong levels cause bad traction and skidding, should be "up to the consumer" to guess.if i guess wrong, i or someone else might die.if the tires need more pressure to be safe, then it should be what is on the door sticker.this is a dangerous practice.
Our tires, uniroyal nail gard tiger paw p235/70r15, were very new, they had excellent tread left. I noticed a "wobble" developing and w/in a few days the tire exploded. The back left tire tread seperated. Our fuel line was torn out, the inner wall of our wheel well was broken up and had to be replaced. We were w/out our vehicle for almost 2 months. The repair shop informed us that our tires had been discontinued so we received a differnt type of uniroyal tire. It has been 2 months since the car was returned to us. I have noticed the "wobble" again. We are getting new tires tomorrow. Our complaints to uniroyal were ignored. They gave no reason for the discontinuation of the tires. I wonder why it is ok to let people continue driving around on tires that could kill them? why doesn't this government website do anything about all these complaints? maybe when someone dies they will. Won't that be a nice law suit?
We had a flat tire due to a nail and took it to a local repair shop.he said he would not patch the hole because both rear tires where showing tread separation and he did not want to be responsible for an accident when the tire failed.i went to a uniroyal dealer and they would only credit me 40% of the cost of new tires. They are defective tires and i do not feel responsible to pay to have a defective product replaced. We obviously need these replaced immediately as we are traveling to florida with a trailer this sunday and i am not sure what to do.am i entitled to have these replaced free or not.the tire tread is in excellent condition and should not need to be replaced at this time. While driving on an interstate at approximately 70mph a very slight road vibration was felt approximately 1 minute before the rear driver side tire completely failed. There was a loud audible thump as the vehicle unintentionally jerked to the left. I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and stop safely. Upon inspection, both sidewalls of the tire had separated from top tread section and the tire was in three complete pieces. The wheel incurred minor damage. The vehicle was not overloaded. The tire was believed to be at the correct pressure and showed no signs of puncture or obvious cause of failure. The tire was purchased and mounted professionally 43 days before the failure.
We had purchased uniroyal tires in october 2002 from farm and fleet in la crosse. As of august 4, 2005, all the tires needed to be replaced due to the tires cracking and peeling. We took the car to sears where they told us they would not let us drive the car due the severity of the peeling of the tires. Driving our car with the tires in the poor condition could cause and accident and injury. I started having a panic attack after hearing this news. We were told that this is not normal fortires toshred, crack, and peel at only 40,000 miles. I called farm and fleet where we bought the tires and he told me "too bad" and hung up on me. I called uniroyal and she said it is not their problem if our tires cracked, that's what tires do. These tires that cracked, peeled, and shreddedhave a 75,000 miles warranty, noone will honor this warranty and we had to spend over $400 buying new tires.
Dismissed as road hazard, the puncture's location--just below the crown--indicates to me a structural weakness in the tirewall.on another vehicle with uniroyals, the rubber on the crown was eaten away by broken glass (bottle) as if chewed by a dog.new tires should not be so soft, so incapabale of handling ordinary and commonroad hazards.i received no satisfaction from the dealer or the tire's rep.i was on my own and make this report to warn others that tires which cost in excess of $100each should perform to a higher and safer standard.and not unlike the current firestone controversy, tires are made to ride softer so to compensate for the stiff rides so typical with the new muscle trucks and suv's.simply, this should have never happened.the tire's rubber chemistryand construction could have endangered my family's health and well being.gner. The entire tread section debonded and seperated from the rest of the tire. The tire immediatelly lost all pressure. The vehiche became uncontrollable and left the right side of the interstate.
