The tread from a uniroyal laredo tire came off while i was driving on the freeway.i lost control of my vehicle momentarily until i was able to countersteer to correct the weaving and unstable driving of my vehicle.as the tread came off it damaged my wheel well, undercarraige behind the wheel, rear bumper and body trim.i had my son and three of his friends in the car at the time.

Since the tires have been replaced the vehicle pulls to the right when going forward at any speed. The tires have been rotated and aligned in 3 different locations, problem still exists.please describe details.

As i watched the news about the firestone tire failures i couldn't help wondering if the problem isn't more widespread in the industry. A few years ago i owned a gmc pickup with uniroyal tires. The tread separated on one tire in much the same way as the firestones. It did $2600 damage to the fender. My insurance company paid for the repair and tried to collect from uniroyal. Uniroyal took the tire and then said the damage was from under or overinflation. That wasn't true because i always checked pressures carefully, but it was my word against theirs. I had to replace the other three tires when they showed the first signs of tread separation. I heard stories at the body shop about other owners having similar problems, including serious accidents.( dot number: tire size: 245/75r16e )

Dt:the contact stated three uniroyal tires blew out. The cap blew off of two. The third blewout.but the cap did not blow off. The tires had 4,500 miles on them. Uniroyal replaced one of the tires. The tires blew out between 8-5, 2005 and 8-21.2005. The consumer had not noticed any bulging in the tires. These were tires on a 1994 holiday rambler motor home.the road was a paved and the weather was dry. Uniroyal laredo hd/h, lt235/85r16, tubeless e.

While driving at 55 mph rear left tireblew out.500 miles later the left rear tire blew out. The tire was shipped to the manufacturer was indicated that they could not find a cause for the tire blow out.thedealer was notified (lt225/75r16, uniroyal laredo all season tire). *nlm

These tires are separating and close to blowing out!!unfortunately i cant afford a new set. They only have 15000 miles on them. I contacted uniroyal and they were very defiant and brash!! someone is going to be killed using this tire, if they havent already!! this tire is rotted and falling apart. It was obviously made with faulty components!! do your jod and get this tire off the road!!!!!!! mr

I purchased a brand new uniroyal laredo tire near austin, texas at an ntb store. The ntb store put the tire on the right front of my 2003 ford f-250. Within 10 minutes of leaving the ntb store, the tire catastrophically failed and i was barely able to bring my truck (pulling a large gooseneck trailer) under control on i-35. The failure could have been disastrous not only for me, but for many of the other people driving on i-35, as vehicles had to quickly move out of my way as my truck was dragged across at least one lane of travel, the shoulder and into the grass on the side of the highway. Afterwards, the entire sidewall of the tire was found to have been ripped off the tire and my wheel was severely damaged. Clearly, this tire was defective in its manufacturer.

Set of 5 uniroyal liberator tires purchased new, lt265-75-16 load range e, 2002 f-250 4x4 (oem size) *these tires are no longer available thru wal-mart where they were purchased and installed.the following occurrences were/are due to defective tires, not any actions committed by wal-mart, the installer/seller.owner of vehicle is certified mechanic and maintains vehicle & tires to oem specs.at approx. 10,000 miles on tires, we embarked on an interstate highway trip from florida to idaho and back, traveling thru utah, noticed an imbalance at 70mph.entering idaho the imbalance now occurred at all speeds. Inspection of all tires revealed driver-side rear tire tread had a pronounced bulge a foot long in the center of tread. Spare tire was installed, and vehicle was driven to wal-mart in boise. (manager verified tread/belt separation, tire still at 70psi.) replaced with goodyear wrangler same size.returning to florida, another imbalance occurred on the interstate in south-dakota. Inspection revealed driver-side front tread bulged and separating. That tire was replaced at wal-mart with a goodyear wrangler.traveling thru west-memphis, the entire passenger-side rear tire tread detached without warning and demolished the rear quarter panel and tail-light. (tire did not blow-out/lose air pressure, 80 psi) vehicle was driven 3 miles on steel belt to hotel off of interstate. Spare tire was installed and vehicle was driven to wal-mart for 3 goodyear wranglers.all 3 incidents happened on interstate highway.tires were at correct air-pressure and installed correctly.tires were not/had not been overloaded.we saved the tread separation tire carcass and the 2 remaining "good" tires.

The outside rubber peeled right off the tire, causing it to blow out completely.(tiresize: p235/70/r1)

We were driving a 1996 ford f 150 4x2 in center lane of i 435 about 70 miles per hour when we had a rear driver side uniroyal laredo tire completly separate. This tire had about 33 psi pressure in it. This caused damage to the rear of truck. Cost unknown at this time. We gently pulled over to edge of interstate. When we got out of vehicle the bad tire was deflating. I changed this tire and put the spare on. I went back and picked up all of the pieces i could find. These tires are not the original tires. I had used these on another vehicle. They have been stored inside. The tread use was not extensive. I put these on the rear about this same time last year. These had a classification of m/s. This vehicle came with a goodyear highway tread tire. I wanted something on the rear for winter that had a m/s designation in case i was standed on road that required this. This was the first time something like this has happened to me. I have three more of these tires. I would like something done to assure my safety. Please advise. Thank you.(tiresize: 235/75/r15)( dot number: tire size: 235/75/r15 )

Truck starts to have a vibration and at higher speed gets worse by the time you think it may be a bad tire you may get pulled over before it blows outor it blows doing extensive vehicle damagebefore you get stopped.between 04/15/09 to 08/16/12 i purchased 6 uniroyal laredo 265/75r16 tires for 2003 f-350 ford truck. On 9/15/2910 a tire separated and had a huge knot and adjusted with a new tire. On 8/16/2012 another tire separated and had a knot it was replaced and adjusted with a new tire.since 2012 every one of the 6 tires has separated and had a knot.2 blew completely before i could get stopped doing extensive vehicle damage.the left front blew out in may of this year taking me directly into incoming traffic and almost hitting a couple headon on a motorcycle and then ending up in the incoming vechicles road ditch at 65 mph. The tire store reccomended to not use the uniroyal laredos becausethis has become a common qa issue with this tire.the technician showed me where the tires start to come apart. I left 2 uniroyal laredos on the rear wheels and the tire techinician looked at the tires and he said they still looked operable in less than 2 weeks left rear started vibrating and it had a knot on it. So now all uniroyal laredos have been replacedwith bfg tires.6 out of 6 tires all went badand the tire stores know these uniroyal tires are defective and yet uniroyal has done nothing to fix the problem or recalled the tire.this is a extremely dangerous safety issue when a tire blows on the front you have no control over the truck your just a bomb heading to incoming traffic.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving at 55 mph the right and left front tires blew out one week apart.there were no problems with the steering prior to the incident.the tire pressure was32.there was no bulging noticed in the tires.

Blow out of uniroyal lt235 85r16 tires on horse trailer with no signs of wear. Second blow out was this year. I feel there is a problem with this tire as this is a common problem. Tires were inflated properly. Replaced all 4 tires with a different brand.

Serial # anor lt u460.tire has 10/32" tread, tread peeled off like a recap ripping out front and rear side panels, had to be towed from scene. We have the tire and the peeled off tread for inspection. It looks as though rubber was not properly bonded to casing. We contacted u.s.royal who denied responsibility. This could has been a disasterous accident had the vehicle been going faster, vehicle had just started from stop sign, turned right and started going uphill whenn tread peeled off with tremendous noise damaging side of vehicle. Tire was properly inflated and vehicle was not loaded with more than 150 lbs plus driver. We feel that manufacturer is turning away from a possible recall situation. We have tire casing still mounted on rim and the tread complete which seperated from casing. Please comment.

I had a uniroyal tire explode inside the vehicle. The tire was being used as a spare inside a 97 jeep grand cherokee.when it exploded it bent the rear hatch hinges out2 inches and shredded all the plastic trim pieces causing over two thousand dollars in damages.thank god there wasn't anyone in the vehicle.

Driving 73 mph down highway without warning tread blows off tire.almost lost control of vehicle.tires were purchased new and maintained and had plently tire left.uniroyal advised they were not responsible for tire that was 7 years old.

Front tires developed serious wear patterns (cupping). Original factory wheel balancing placed 3 ounces of weight on front right and 2.75 ounces on front left while the rear tires only required .5 ounces of weight. The tires have been balanced three times by different places and according to the tires experts, the tires "don't spin well". One uniroyal dealer suggested i contact the selling dealer of the car and have him replace the tires. This is not a gmc issue but a uniroyal issue. After rotating the defective front tires to the rear, the rear tires now hum and the ride is terrible. These tires were poorly manufactured and even using heavy weights, cannot be balanced properly. Given the fact that my gmc jimmy has a poor rollover rating, i'm afraid these rear tires will cause a serious accident if not replaced.(tiresize: p23570r15)

No summary listed for above vehicle. (dot number: pjfctiresize: p225/70r14)

During drive to work at approx. 6:30 am (temp=70 degrees) my left rear tire catostrophically failed. (note: this tire was original factory equipment which was not installed untill approx 1999).as i was driving, i heard several loud thumps from the rear of my truck - just as i looked into my rear view mirror, i saw the entire tread of my tire fly off and onto the sholder of the road.my truck violently skided sideways and almost flipped over - for a short time i was driving on two wheels (the two right wheels) and i was able to bring the truck back down on all four wheels and pull off the road.i have numerous photographs of this tire and the resulting damage.the sudden failure of this tire caused significant damage to the left wheel well and quarter panel (due to large tire pieces ejecting themselves).

In addition to the "lost tire" there is approximately $2500 damage to the vehicle.the company refuses to acknowledge their responsibility unless i first purchase another tire from them and send the original tire back to them.(this is after i driving/using three hours of my time to bring the tire into one of their centers for inspection.) Called uniroyal today and after threephone calls of getting the runaround i was then able to have one covered under warranty the other tire was disposed of by tire shop. Tires had about 60-65% tread life left on them.problem was that the tire shops they sent me toosaid they only sell uniroyal tires and do not warranty them. Other problem was by alleged regional representative in my opinion had a "no care" attitude.
