August 2006 i purchased a 28-foot travel trailer from my local dealer in helena montana. The travel trailer is manufactured by forest river.in the barely 14 months i have owned the travel trailer, the tires have been replaced once and are again in need of replacement. (less than 5,000 miles.) an axle has also been replaced.i believe this vehicle is unsafe to operate as it was built with defective or under-rated parts. The manufacturer refuses to acknowledge this and only wants to replace the tires yet again. I am concerned that the continued use of this travel trailer poses a significant hazard to the safety of myself and fellow motorists. I would like to request an investigation and suggestion for resolution.

The consumer believes that the wheels/tires are overloaded, the consumer has replaced 11 tires and the wheels have been replaced 4 times, the tire failures have either been tire separation or have been totally shredded, the wheels crack in the rim weld which allows air to leak through the metal rim (the axles are al-ko h-5 5000 lb axles - goodyear, general, towmaster, carlisle).nlm

The contact owns a 2014 double r utility trailer. The vehicle has towmaster s/t tires, size 205/75/d15 (na). While driving 45 mph, the rear passenger side tire blew out. The contact stated that the axle was too close to the frame inside the fender, which caused the blow out. In addition, the tire was rubbing against the inner frame. There was no spare tire included with the trailer. The trailer had not been repaired. The dot number was unknown. The approximate tire and trailer failure mileage was 16,338.

Rv with 1088 miles on tires.had a blowout on the freeway. Tire completely shredded with tread separated throughout.when we had the tires replaced 3/5 tires were damaged.1 shredded that caused the blowout and two other with largest blobs inside the tire.these type of tires are very unsafe and should be removed from the market.

Belt shift on tire.removed tire before total failure occurred.

Tow max srt tires are bloated and out of round after 6k miles, one blew out causing rv damage. All four on rv from manufacture (heartland) are bloated and had to be replaced after only 6k miles.

The 15" chinese tires used on trailers should be banned in this country. Because they are cheap imports they are used as standard equipment by the manufactures,as cost savings. This takes away any competition from american tire manufacturers,so as a result, there are little if any american made tires to replace the horrible chinese tires. These trashy chinese tires have caused millions in damage and probably many traffic collisions. They should be banned and manufactures should not be allowed to use them on any trailers.

Upon returning from vacation sept 23 traveling on interstate 40,i had a blowout.on sept 24 traveled to gallup new mexico and replaced the tire (of which they kept).i am again on the road, blew another tire, stopped in albuquerque nm at walmart and replaced the tire (they also kept the bad tire).luckily i did not have any more blowouts for the rest of the trip.i went to ok tire on sept 28 which is where i purchased the tires orginally and they asked that i bring the remaining three tires up for inspection.they also were falling apart.it looks as if they are defective and ok tire as much as said so.ok tire is sending the tires to tci (tire centers inc) for evaluation.i will probably get new tires for the three, but i feel i should be reimbursed for the two new tires i had to purchase.this could have caused anaccident, death and/or both.i am not asking for a million dollars i am asking for my money back.if the tires had been properly manufactered there would not be an issue. The tires were only a little over a year old..information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Wife and i left for florida march 12, 2009 towing 30 ft camper.we estimate to have less than 3,000 miles on "tow master v" tires.we purchased the camper new in july 2007.i checked the tire pressure cold at 45 p.s.ibefore we left home.it was a clear, warm, sunny day.approximately four (4) hours into the trip, just in florida, traveling at a speed of 62 m.p.h.we experienced a blow out on the left side of the camper, front tire.i did not hit any object in the roadway.there was tread separation and it was like the section with all the tread from side to side started flapping.i stopped immediately, within 300 feet.we were approximately 500 feet from a rest area so i very slowly towed the camper into the first parking spot and stopped.this is the only tire failure we have incurred and i cannot explain why the tire failed.i have not yet been able to contact the camper sales where we purchased the camper but i will.

We purchased a 2013 keystone avalanche which was equipped with tow master tires size st235/80r/16 we were going on our third trip but fortunately before leaving a sidewall bulge was noticed the tire only had about 1,200 miles on it. We had to purchase a new tire but tow master although admitting the tire was defective would only reimburse us a small portion of what we had to pay for a replacement tire this happened in approximately august 2013. In 2014 we left for a trip from albuquerque nm to az i checked the tires before leaving four hours into the trip i was doing 65 mph, another tire a tow master completely shredded damaging our 5th wheel. I am waiting for tow master to examine the tire or at least what is left of it. I had to purchase another tire to continue the trip for peace of mind and safety. I am going to replace the other towmaster tires and intend to ask tow master to pay for the new tires as i feel they are unsafe and could cause serious property and personal damage even death. The dot # of the ties is 83b5 (cbp)we now feel we have tp purchase a second spare to replace the tow master spare because of the prior incidents.

4 tow master trailer radials have failed in a period of just over 1 year.these are used on a boat trailer and they are very low mileage.i am convinced these tires are just poor quality and might be considered dangerous.

We bought a keystone alpine nov 2012 and made 5000 miles on the 5th wheel tires. Traveling from mpls to madison wi had a blow out causing several thousands of dollars to the 5th wheel plus the wrecker service fees. This was on a two lane highway and parts of the tire went all over into the opposite lane causing great danger the tire was a townmaster st235/80r16. We ended up having to buy 4 new firestone tires to ensure our safety.

My new 2007 lark carhauler enclosed trailer came with 4 towmaster st205/75d15, dot# 1nvt-5106, kt-7709-06 tires installed. After approx. 1500 hwy miles, all the tires formed large bubbles throughout the side walls. The company ridgeline performance in douglas ga. Replaced the tires in good faith with the same tire. After approx. Another 1500 hwy speed miles, the tires did the same thing. This time the company refused to replace them stating i must have caused the problem. I believe this tire has serious defects that will or has caused serious accidents. The trailer is rated 7000gvw. I was hauling a 69 jaguar xke. Tire pressure was 50 psi. Running 70 to 75 mph, tire temp was taken with a laser reader and found to be running at 195 degrees on a 89 degree day.

The contact owns eighteen dee stone tires (na).the tires were purchased in june of 2006.the contact did not know who manufactured the tires and could not find out before she called nhtsa.each of the tires had a blow out between the summer of 2006 and early 2007.on june 24, 2007, she purchased ten new dee stone tires (dot numbers 2b/0807/a-06, dot2b/1207/a-06, dot2b/4206/a-06, dot2b3906/a-06, dot2b/4206/a-06, dot2b/4806/a-06, dot2b/1207/a-06, dot2b/4806/a-06, dot2b/3906/a-06, and dot2b/4306/a-06).the contact later discovered that all ten tires had tread separation and splits in the groove, which were large enough to fit a quarter.prior to purchasing the ten additional tires, she had the axle and springs replaced on her trailer because the mechanic believed that they caused the first eight tires to fail.the contact was reimbursed for the final ten tires because the blade that made the zig zag pattern on the tires, punctured the tread.she stated that the tires are called fourteen fives for tractor trailers and heavy equipment.no vehicle information was available.
