Now feeling compelled to document this issue only because it is the 2nd failure of these tires. Failure in the rear drivers side tire side wall bubble was seen as i entered my scion tc 2005 that was on 1/30/13 mileage 57786. That would make it 7400 miles for the first failure. The original tires purchased (all 4) 12/10/11 mileage 50320. Now after almost a year the 2nd failureof these tires inside wall where tread belt meets side wall has peeled off. This was on a day when we had our 2 grandsons in the car. Mileage now 64395. Different tire front drivers side. So that is 14k on this tire that failed. As you can see we are not high mileage divers. My biggest concern would be what if this failed on the interstate at 70 mph? sounds like the issue firestone had some years ago. Speed was not a factor, bad roads not a factor, the weather was clear, no outside condition or other vehicles involved. I have been driving for 50+ years. We will contact the tire manufacture also.the consumer experienced a third tire failure, where the bead on the side wall of the tire came off. Updated 12/09/14

The contact owns a 1993 mercedes benz 400 sel. The vehicle was purchased used with sumitomo htrz2 tires and tire size, 245/35r20.the contact noticed a split on the rear driver's side tire.four or five months later, he noticed numerous splits on the tire.he already replaced both front tires.the manufacturer was not notified, but the contact believes that these tires need to be recalled.when the first two tires were repaired, the defective tires were not inspected at any shop.the tire size was unknown.the failure mileage was 95,000 and current mileage was 107,000.

Premature wear on the inside corner of my tires.this was ultimately discovered on all four tires.this lead to belt separation on all tires and a lost of belting on the left front of the car that caused driver surprise that demanded a dramatic emergency stop.this exposed me to highway traffic and almost caused an accident while pulling over in a shocked and concerned state.these tires were recommended for my car by the retailer and met both the speed rating and performance required.however, i don't feel they should be sold for this car based on my experience.they don't hold up to the challenging demands of this application. This failure is dangerous.had it happened at night or on a wet surface, the consequences would have been much more severe.note: this was on a car that was fully in alignment, with factory wheels and suspension.the car was driven only as a commuter.no racing or other extreme driving.
