I experienced complete tire traction failure using my dodge grandcaravan equipped with the pirelli tires described herein.the tires were purchased 6/27/00 from lawrence hill getty in huntington, ny.i had asked for all weather tires.on december 31, 2000, and then again on jan 1, 2001, i experinced no traction on the tires, and slid purposefully on two separate occasions into snowbanks, the first time to avoid hitting a car in front of me while travelling with my family of five, and then again to avoid sliding into a blind interesection.i brought the car into a goodyear dealer on 1/1/01, and bought goodyear aquatread 3's.the car handles admirably with these tires.i have contacted the pirelli manufacturer who stated that these tires are rated summer tires.i am shocked that any tire company would put any driverneedlessly in danger by putting summer rated tires in an allweather situation, especially when i specifically asked for all-weather tires.the company offered an unacceptable remedy.i am reporting these incidents to you to attempt to deter pirelli from this misleading and potentially fraudulent practice.i was travelling no more than 10-15 miles per hour, allowing plenty of time and distance to stop.i also ride motorcycles and am very aware of road surface, stopping distances, and alternative avenues of escape.it was this experience that kept me from critically or otherwise injuring my family or another family while relying to my detriment on the reputation of the pirelli tire company in providing proper tires in my area.the company is apparently looking to divert any responsibility for their product.are there any other reports of pirelli tire failure that i may see?thank you in advance. The car is veering to the right all the time. The body of the car shakes up/down and left to right. This is very noticeable at 30mph. Below that speed, the steerig wheel moves left to right rapidly. This tire blew out on the freeway with no warning at freeway speed, the tire destroyed the aluminium rim, i sent what was left of the tire to pirelli, they claim that their examination indicates no manufacturing defects, but that the "tire suffered an impactto the wheel at the 6:00 clock position the impact was severe enough to cause complete deflection of the tire down to the well smearing the interliner rubber on the well of the wheel." i did not have an impact, the tire blew out without warning.i have retained the tire and rim.i have 2 other tires on my vehicle and i am concerned that there may be a defect in the tire. Tire size is lt265/75r-16/c. The tire failed while returning from omaha with my wife and 8 month old son. I have digital pictures of the tire and truck that can be sent over e-mail. I have contacted pirelli and they want me to send the tire along with estimates to fix the truck. I spoke with nadine calderwood at 1-800-243-5105 ext 387. She did not seem to care if anyone was injured or not and seemed to be exactly like her title a risk manager. The tires have aprox 20,000 miles on them. I was driving 75 mph and the truck had a slight vibration i checked tire pressure when we stopped and visually inspected the tires. After we filled with gas the vibration was no longer there. After our second stop the vibration returned and then the tread separated with a violent crash destroying the entire side of the truck and causing the truck to almost loose control and shake violently. I understand that a large tire co like pirelli has to watch out for their best interest however they should put the customers well being at the top. I would appreciate any information you have about other pirelli tire separations that have been filed. Thank you. (dot number: chw8gp4419tiresize: 265 75r16c)

Bubble on sidewall of new pirelli tire.

This particular tire exploded @ about 60 mphon my truck .i had a 5th wheel trailer on behind at the time . It caused 1150.00 dollars damage to the truck. This is the 7th or eighth tire of the same brand &type that i had go bad. The others had the belts come loose and start viberating. I would take them back to a sears store and they would give me an adjustment and charge me75% of a new tire and put the same type back on. I would question them about the safty of the tire& they would just shake their heads.the first two tires were bought in farmington nm. On the28th of july 1998.the last two werebought the 19 of oct.1999 . Two more were removedthe6th of sept. 2000 but were replaced with different type . Iwas told the quit making it in my size. I still have three in my posession . One is blown and they want me to send it to pirelli for evauation. Sears wantsto pass the buck to pirelli. It is my contention the tires are diffenetlydangerous to the public. I was very lucky to have been able to bring my truck under control .i might add that these tires that have lost their belts have been on all for corners of the truck when they went bad. I am aware of the tire recall and questions about other manufacturers.i purchased a saab in 1986 equipped with pirelli tires.all four of the tire treads separated within 15,000, including one incident at 65 mph. I sent one fo the tires back to pirelli for examination. They claimed there was no mnaufacturing flaw that caused the separation.there is absolutely no way 4 new tires with less than 15,000 miles could all separate without a defect.i realize this is an old complaint but i think it is important to know that other tire companies are also producing shoddy tires.( dot number:)

Original tireequipment blew out andreplacement tire has developed a bulge insidewall.pirelli and audi have been notified. Second replacement has split.

The problem i have experienced is a condition where the sidewall of the tires forms a bulge, causing the tire to become unbalanced and in danger of bursting.from speaking with several tire dealers, it seems that the cause of the problem is the ultra-low profile design of the tires which makes them unusually vulnerable to damage from normal road hazards.i have had four tires develop this condition on four separate occasions.since i am extremely cautious about avoiding road hazards, and put snow tires on the car in the winter, it is obviously not a coincidence.furtermore, it is quite evident that many other volve 850 owners have had the same bad fortune.( dot number: tire size: 205-45/z17 )
