Within a few hundred miles of purchasing these nitto trail grappler tires abnormal wear began to appear. This abnormal wear is best described as crumbling. There are certain areas or the tire that the tread is crumbling apart. As mileage on tire increases the crumbling gets worse. After first rotaion of tires at approx 3500miles the tires are steadily degrading. This could result in blowout or tread/tire seperation causeing a sever vehicle accident. Two months of trying to get this resolved with the shop and nitto have resulted in no replacement of tires. Company has claimed these tires aren't meant for the vehicle and the owner has abused the tires. The tires have been well taken care of and not abused in anyway. Vehicle that wears these tires are under the recommened application according to specs. The vehicle is a 2007 chevrolet silverado 2500hd 4x4. Tires are nitto trail grappler 35x12.50r20 load range "e" 10 ply. Rims are 20x8.5 mb motorsports. Pressure in tires 60psi.

I purchased a set of 4 nitto motivo tires size 225/45zr18xl with the top rating (y) with a 60,000 mile warranty, dot # 73j7 l6k4213 on march 12, 2014 at discount tire for my 2008 ford fusion. My vehicle at the time had 91,602 miles on it and today has just over 107,000 miles. My vehicle was traveling through town with a speed limit of 30 and heard a loud pop noise. The side wall of the front driver side tire blew out causing my vehicle to suddenly pull to the left into oncoming traffic, lost control, and smashed into the driver side fender and pushed the vehicle into a curb thus totaling my car and probably the other vehicle as well at noon today july 30, 2014. The police report reflects mechanical failure as the cause of the accident and i have witness statements from a couple that were traveling behind my vehicle that they, too, heard a loud pop just prior to the accident. I contacted discount tire and was told to bring in the wheel, tire, and pictures and they would forward my information to nitto so that they can start a claim. Nitto did not answer therefore i was given the phone number and i will try to contact them tomorrow. I would like to know what my consumer rights are as far as getting the cost of my vehicle, the other vehicle, medical bills, towing costs, and time loss and suffering paid. This is simply unfair and i am angry that a defect due to their tire has now cost me a loss of my car and neither my insurance or i should have to pay.

I purchased a set of 4 nitto motivo's for my touareg tdi in sept 2013 at which time i had 60,000 miles on my vehicle.today, 6/17/14, @ 75, 000 miles with 15,000 miles on the motivo's, i noticed 2 defects in 2 of my tires.the left rear tire had a huge bulge on the sidewall...about 3" inches across and 2" high.the right front tire had this 2" x 2" cut/gash or something on the sidewall.i immediately went to discount tire where i bought them and they said these issues were probably the result of driving over potholes and that all 4 will need to be replaced since i have an all-wheel drive vehicle and that the best they can do is give me a tread wear based credit on a new set in the amount of around $320.i paid over $1000 for your tires, which were warranted for 60,000 and i only got 15,000 out of them.and to make matters worse, it appears that the quality of the sidewall is very poor causing the defects i mentioned.i contacted nitto numerous times and they advised that they do not cover "road hazards" which they say caused the defects in my 2 tires.they also advised that since my tires were only measured as having between 5/32 and 6/32 of tread wear, essentially 1/2 worn out, they only warranty their tires if they are between 1/32 and 2/32...ie, totally worn out, before they would issue a pro-rated credit.this is absurd!!!the warranty is for 60,000 miles...after just 15,000 miles, my tires are halfway worn out!i should get a credit for 75% of the cost of the tires.i would really appreciate your consideration in helping me to receive credit in the amount of 75% ($750) of the $1000i paid for these tires, since i only have 15, 000 miles on them and thewarranty is for 60,000.

The purpose to this letter is to advise you of an incident that occurred saturday june 19, 2004.while driving on interstate 80 at 65 mph, i experienced a frightening encounter.i heard a loud pop and immediately the rear right of my car began to sway and i almost caused an accident. I immediately pulled off the road onto the emergency lane, to find a very surprisingly strange tire blow out.the entire sidewall of my 285/35/18 nitto nt555 collapsed, and was pushed in toward the rear sidewall causing major damages to my 18 z06 wheel.i have never seen a sidewall completely blow out and detach itself from the tire, let alone from normal use.this tire appeared as if a knife was taken to it and severed off.damages suffered to the rim, as a result of this incident are so extensive that repairs are not an option.a replacement rim will need to be purchased, as well as the new nitto tire.the defective tire currently has approximately 90-95% tread wear left, which is the reason why i am asking for nitto corp. To compensate my losses.enclosed please review the photographs that were taken on site, and process this request for reimbursement.i am fortunate enough that this mishap caused by your defective tire did not result in damages exceeding the ones that occurred.i look forward to your prompt response.enclosed is also a price quote on a replacement rim.the rim price is $315, from aaa rims.this quote was obtained through jason, an aaa rim representative the morning of 7/21/2004. The tire has been shipped off to toyo tires inc.i also filed a claim with tm claim service, which is toyo tires insurance company.the tire was shipped off for inspection, and two weeks later i am still waiting for a response.i also have pictures that were taken onsite, and various others.thank youp.s old parts are still available.*la
