Blow out on mission tire.

Traveling north on us hwy 77 north of lagrange, tx at approximately 62mph when the driver's side front mission tire on the montana mountaineer fifth wheel rv blew out. I had checked tires less than one-half hour before the failure.the tires looked fine, both visually, and air pressure and temperature wise. All five tires bore the dot info; 4yb3 cq1c 4905.upon arrival at destination, i had all tires replaced and contacted the importer, tireco in california as i was aware they were voluntarily replacing mission tires.they had the tires picked up at my residence within two days and shipped to them for inspection.i have since been informed that only the tire that failed was defective per their inspection.

The first set of tires freestar radial s/t 235/80/16 load range e were replaced by mission tire after 3280 mile because of sidewall failure, the tires sent to replace the bad ones lasted 1680 miles. They have tread separation and wall rupture. I am in the process of trying to recoup my tire cost. These tires are very unsafe for highway use, because of blowout or tread loss at highway speeds. No one was injured because of the tire problems but very well could have been. Seven of the eight tire i have had were a death trap in my opinion and i will never own another tire manufactured by nankang or sold through mission tire. The tires in this complaint are all tires on the trailer tandem axelfront and rear. If there had been a blowout because of these tires there is no doubt that a considerable amount of damage or even death could have been a very good possibility because of the highway speed.

Incident description: we purchased a new 2004 keystone cougar travel trailer that i say have extremely dangerous tires on it. We had one blow out on a long trip last year, and this fall we had two more blow out on two separate occasions and all three did (each case) about $1500.00 in damage to the trailer. The first one, there was nothing left to the tire when we got stopped. The second was shredded too. The third was starting to come apart, and the fourth one i took of the when and was starting to separate inside the tire. The brand name is mission. Made in taiwan # st 225/75/r15 load range d, tubeless. Number on the tire is a phone number, 800-227-8925. These tire have cost me thousands of dollars in trailer repairs from the damage they did blowing out. I demand that something be done. Can you tell me if anyone else has had trouble? i do have two of the ones left for proof.

This past summer i had 1 mission tire blowout it did over $500.00 damage to my 2006 copper canyon 5th. Wheel mission told me to send pictures and replacement cost and they would pay me. When i tried to collect they now said i needed the tire. It was to late it was already thrown out now when checking trailer ready for a trip another tire had bubble in tread and side wall. This tire has about 300 miles more then the other one which had about 3500 miles on it. They are kept at 85lbs.

I own a 2007 keystone everest fiver. Thetires on it are the mission's 235-80-16 load range. I've had two blowouts, the first wasn't that bad but the second one did some damage on the side of the camper. I contacted the tire manufacturer and was told that because the tires were five years old that they couldn't or should i say wouldn't do anything about it. I explained to them that i purchased the unit new off the lot in 2007. I was told that the date on the tires was 2006 and that the life span of trailer tires was 3 to 5 years that it didn't matter if they were in service or was waiting to be put on the units. So people everyone needs to look at the dates on the tires when they go to purchase a new camper because it may have older tires on it and not know about it. I know that i will be looking. It's not fun setting on the side of road trying to change a flat with truckers coming by you at 80 mph and the camper on a jack with no tire on the camper shaking side to side wondering if its going to fall of the jack before you get the tire back on.

While towing a 2004 komfort trailblazer t25s travel trailer, had two (2) nankang mission loadmax tires st225/75/r15(dot wehh 2733103 0705) fail within 150 +- miles of each other on july 7 & july 9, 2006.trailer had approximately 6000+- miles, operated at 55 mph at trailer manufacture recommended pressures of 50-psi cold.tires suffered catastrophic failures:tire failure #1 tread separated in one piece from casing / bead causing minor damage as it was ejected. Tire failure #2 had partial separation of tread from casing / bead causing moderate damage to trailer siding and undercarriage from tread / steel belting.contacted 800-227-8925 number on tire casing and spoke with a tireco representative. Tireco replaced all 5 tires with a milestar branded tires and requested the return of old tires (2 failed, 3 non-failed) tires for their inspection.tireco stated they would review a trailer repair request provided 3 written estimates submitted, however they would not pay for mounting, balancing, car rental, towing, storage, lodging, downtime or lost wages.upon my inspection of the 3 non-failed tires, i have observed what appears to be steel wire strands protruding through the tread face of 2 tires well above the wear bars, remaining tire was mounted as a spare and has no wear.i have resisted returning the set of 5 tires to tireco; rather i request nhtsa open a defect investigation.i have read many accounts of mission loadmax tire failures through rv websites on the internet and noted that two others have filed complaints with nhtsa.i will retain the tires pending direction of nhtsa should you (dot) wish to examine.

Had a flat on a mission st235/80 r16. Took to have fixed and repairman said the tire was fixing to separate.he showed me the bulge in the tire.tires are on 2007 montana(keystone) 5th wheel with 12,000 miles.guess we are lucky we have not had a major problem.called tire co out of california and they sent us 5 new milestar tires (made in china) and i am afraid the same thing will happen to them.

Tread separation occurred with a mission loadmax t-108 radial tubeless trailer tire, size st235/80r-16e, manufactured by nankang in china, and distributed in the us by tire co, inc.the tire was one of four like tires on my 2006 keystone montana fifth wheel trailer, model 3400rl, purchased new in april 2006 and with less than 4000 miles on the tires at the time of the incident.the incident happened while traveling on the interstate highway at about 65 mph.the defective tire did not lose air, but the separated tread flew off the tire and damaged the sheet metal fender skirt of the trailer.no loss of control, injuries, or other damage occurred.before taking action to replace the defective tire, i searched the nhtsa complaints file on the web and found four reports on separated or blown out mission tires.i also searched discussion forums (rv.net, trailer life.com, and others) and found dozens of complaints of separated or blown out mission tires on travel trailers and 5th wheels in the last few years.i decided not to take any further risk with the mission tires and replaced all tires including the spare, with bf goodrich commercial t/a light truck tires.at the time of replacement, i found over 18" of tread bulging and separated from the casing of another of the four mission tires, and 2" x 8" blister on the inside of the casing of the third mission tire.the fourth mission tire that was on the ground and the spare (a nankang tire branded milestar m-108) appear to have no defects.i notified my keystone montana dealer of the incident, and i am in the process of completing a claim with tireco, inc of california (claim # pl-10449) with the expectation of being reimbursed for the replacement of the defective mission tires and damage to my trailer.i understand that the tires must be shipped to tireco, inc. For their inspection and judgment whether a material or workmanship defect exists that would support reimbursement.
