The contact owns a 1997 lincoln town car.the vehicle has michelin xw4 tires, size 225/60/r16.while examining his vehicle, the contact noticed that all four tires were dry rotted.the tires were taken to the dealer and they stated that all of them needed to be replaced.the current and failure mileages were 33,000.
Steel belt breakage.caused bumpy ride and pull to right.my concern is that when i contacted michelin, they attitude was that their tires fail when the warranty expires.the tires have been cared for using ford requirements.the first tire to fail was in aug. 1999 and a local ford dealer helped with michrlin.at that timethe car was under warranty.this time, two front tires failed at the same time.i have been told that michelin has stopped making this model tire.i wonder why.the tires have almost a quarter inch of tread left and are not worn funny.seems like junk tires to me.i replaced the michelin tires with cooper tires, which have never failed me.please check into michelin and perhaps auto manufacturers who use their products, which have a fixed life.thank you.( dot number: m3pa998x29 tire size: p205x65r15 )

I was having trouble with ride quality on my 1997 chevrolet blazer for quite some time.the dealership rotated and balanced the tires numerous times as well as checked the alignment several times.after checking my owner's manual, i determined that the tires were covered under the 3/36 manufacturer's warranty.i attempted to have the tires replaced under this warranty.it was determined by the service manager that two of the tires had separated, but all four were worn out.i told him that may be true, but they should still be covered under the 3/36 warranty.he stated that their hands were tied because michelin would state that these were only a 30k mile tire and were past their useful life.i contacted chevrolet customer assistance on 11/25/98 to attempt to solve this problem.the person i spoke with told me the same thing.since the tires were worn out, they could not replace them.i told her that two of them had separated and according to my owner's manual, they were covered up to 36k miles.the person i was speaking with told me that she was sorry but there was nothing that they could do as far as replacing these tires.this is a problem that needs to be addressed.with the tire separation occurring, this could possibly cause tire failure leading to an accident. The consumer also believes that they are protected by their 3/36 warranty for the full time when they actually are not.chevrolet/gm needs to be made to either upgrade the tires that they are putting on their vehicles or they need to specifically state the mileage restrictions on the tires in their 3/36 warranty explanation.thank you for your time and assistance in this matter.sincerely, chip wright( dot number: tire size: p23570r15 )

Original tires on a 1997 lincoln, town car, p215/70r15 975 made in spaindot h1c7o94x256.2 rear tires are making a thumping noise like they out of round, and that'sfrom where the thump was coming.
At approximately 7:20pm on wednesday evening, august 22, 2001, i was traveling at the speed limit, 75mph, south on interstate 70, near richfield, ut, when, without warning, the left front tire delaminated.i managed to keep control of my vehicle and got it to the right shoulder of the highway.the tire's tread was completely gone, having deformed, blackened and taken paint off the left front fender, detached the left portion of the bumper from the fender, destroying and casting away the majority of the inner fender skirt, badly denting the rear portion of the wheel well/fender, and shredding the mud guard there to the extent that most of it had to be cut off later.the tire continued to hold air though so i was able to creep along the shoulder the approximately one mile to the first richfield exit.i parked in the parking lot of a large gas station just off the interstate and got the by-now-deflated-de-laminated tire off the vehicle, and the "spare" tire on in its place.i then proceeded into richfield where i found a tire dealer who was willing to sell, mount, balance and install two replacement tires for me, charging me a $55 "after hours" fee in addition to the price of the two tires.the ford dealer in richfield, the following morning, gave me little hope that michelin would accept responsibility for the incident, and there was no michelin dealer in richfield that i could contact.since returning home last friday, i have not had a chance to get estimates for repairs, but, knowing what similar repairs have cost friends, my own estimate is between $300 and $500 for the actual repairs to my vehicle, plus the cost of the replacement tires/after hours charge ($189.96).i feel that i was exceedingly lucky to have been driving straight at the time of the de-lamination; to have had both hands on the wheel; and to have had very little traffic around me which could have prevented me from making a safe maneuver to the side of the highway.

1) i was driving home, on a 2 lane highway at approximately 45 miles per hour in steady traffic on a flat straight road.2) my michelin xw4 p235/75r15 tire had complete tread seperation, causing me to swerve all over the road.the tread ripped off, and in the process "slung" around in a circle leaving scratches and tire rubber in a semi-circle on the side of my vehicle and put a large dent in the rear quarter panel.3) the tire is still on the spare rim and is still inflated (holding air fine)i put new tires all around.
