I have owned this vehicle since march 2009 and have had to replace 11 tires and 2 wheels and have had 3 wheels repaired. This is due to low profile tires which develop bulges.

The chrysler 300m special tires were unsafe for winter driving.*dt

Severe cracking of sidewalls of motorhome tires that are only 3 years old.cracking began in less than one year.

One month ago i had one tire fail because of a defective dill tire stem.today (7/25/08) i had two tire stems fail at separate times while on the highway ruining both tires which were only 1 year old and in very good condition.while changing my tires the maintenance man tested the fourth tire and with slight finger pressure thestem broke.

In october 1999, we purchased four of your michelinradial x-one bw tires from tires plus on prairee view road, kansas city mo. At approximately miles on the tire, the right rear tire went completely flat on a local lake road, 25mph.since she had to drive some distance before she could pull over, the tire endured additional damage.it was evident the tire had ruptured on the side-wall(not facing the outside of the tire).to me, it appeared to have a thinning, or defect in the side-wall, but your dealer disagreed.when we took it to the dealer, they told us the tire was not covered, since we had not purchased road hazard insurance.that it had probably been punctured by glass, (even thought there was no glass, &to me, an obvious weakness in the side-wall).we purchased and replaced the tire to match the remaining three on april 22last june, a second tire from the original four suffered a blow out while exiting the intersate at 50 mph.after changing the tire on the shoulder, we took a look at the second tire as well.it suffered a rupture in the side-wall(not facing the outside of tire).this time, there was no additional driving on the tire, and it was apparent there the blowout occurred at a defect in the side-wall.again, we took it to your dealer, where the mechanic there agreed that it was an obvious weakness in the side-wall.the manager told us that the tire was not covered for warranty, since we had not purchased road hazard insurancewe complained about the tire, and our previous, nearly identical situation, and purchased a sixth tire to match the remaining sets on june 14.in may of 2001 the right rear tire had developed a weakness in the sidwall, has expanded and will blow.50% of my tire purchases have now failed, all developed a weakness in the sidewall.i understand road hazard, but these tires are driven in normal to excellent driving conditions.(tiresize: 195/60tr15)

There was no discernible event that caused the tire on the lexus rx350 with less than 4000 miles to blow.we turned off rt 113 into a lowes shopping center after waiting about 2 minutes for a light.on making the left hand turn the tire blew.i pulled into the parking lot and called lexus road service.they don't warrant tires on a new car so we took it to sears/kmart, an authorized michelin dealer.they offered a 50% rebate claiming-to the michelin operator- that it was a "pot-hole" damage and not a manufacturer's defect.they said with the newer cars we could have hit a pot-hole and not even known it!

While driving at 60 mph in a 36 ft motorhome the left front tire suddenly failed with a loud explosion type bang and decreased control of vehicle in passing lane of busy interstate highway.

I purchased a new mazda 6 and it came from the factory with michelin tires.the problem was immediate with a severe rough ride when the tires were cool thus causing steering problems.i rarely drive this vehicle (7,000 miles per year) and was shocked to find sidewall buldges and tire separation on the right rear tire.a few weeks later, i noticed the left front tire had the same problem.since day one, all 4 of the tires wouldn't hold their tire pressure (even with no leaks) which couldn't be figured out by "professionals."i returned my car to the dealership where they told me to immediately get my car into a michelin tire center.i was told that the damage had been caused by a low speed impact and a gash in the tires and would have to buy 4 new tires ($190 per tire).this was definitely not caused by an impact or a gash so i took the car to another michelin center.they told me this time that it was caused by high speed impact but that there was no gash and i would have to buy their tires ($199.42 per tire).finding their stories not matching up, i took it to a third michelin center.they told me that it was caused by hitting a curb!the employee then told me that it was highly unlikely that the two bulged tires on either side could have been caused by hitting a curb or high/low speen impact after an inspection.he recommended a different tire, not a michelin.i ended up buying new tires costing me a grand total of almost $1,000.i insisted on the old tires which the tire center didn't want to readily give back to me.upon inspection, there was neither gash nor tread wear as they had less than 20,000 miles.at all three michelin dealers, they refused to cover them under warranty.it seems obvious that these tires were defective and dangerous from day one.i am writing to you so that this may prevent an accident or death since i am so lucky to have "caught" the problem before anything serious happened.michelin tires need to be held accountable!

I had bought a used 2002 ford explorer xlt a few months ago and noticed a lot of horizantal cuts on the sidewalls of the michelan tires on the vehicle. After looking on this web site and noticed a recall for the ford that i owned ( nhtsa campaign id # 01v171000 ) and took it to the dealership near me. They said they had no recall in their system for my vehicle even though my ford was made at this louisville, kentucky plant at the time specified on this recall. I even called the ford complaint line and they as well said nothing was in their system? is there anything that can be done to remedy this situation, it is definitely a tire defect and the ford still has plenty of tread left; just kind of worried for my safety? they wouldn't even inspect it for possible problems with the tires.

The contact owns a 1998 toyota corolla equipped with michelin radial xdt tires, size p185/65/r14. The contact stated that all of the tires were wearing prematurely. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician stated that all four tires needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The tires were replaced. The dot number and the vin number were unavailable. The tire failure mileage was 58,000. The failure and current mileage of the vehicle was 172,000.

All four tires on 2011 mercedes e550 have tread separation. Tread separation is occurring on the back side of the tire and is unknown until the tire begins to lose tire pressure. Tires are original equipment michelin radial x tires. Failure between 38,000-40,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2008 acura rl.the vehicle has michelin radial x tires.while driving approximately 35 mph, the contact drove over a deep pothole and the tire pressure icon illuminated.the vehicle was driven to a dealer and the contact discovered that a tire was missing.the dealer could not determine why the tire detached from the vehicle, but stated that the tire's distance from the ground played a role.the current mileage was 3,000 and failure mileage was 2,600. Updated 04/25/08

I purchased the car with 4,500 miles in it in march 2019. I started driving it in mid april on highway i 71, since i have to commute to my work everyday from mile 169 to 119. The current mileage is 14,000 and had to get it serviced and the tires were rotated two days before the incident. The day of the incident was july 26th 2019. I was driving in i 71 in the central lane when the sign of low pressure in tires and then i lost control of my car, i tried to use the breaks which made it even more unsteady. Without using breaks, i made my way to the right lane as best as possible and waited until the vehicle stopped by itself. When the speed was slow enough, i pulled over to the right shoulder and wait until it completely stopped. This was in mile 140.0 going south.as soon as i parked two more cars stopped in order to figure out if i was ok. And both mentioned that my tire flew away and hit their cars, but did not damage them. When i stepped out of my vehicle i noticed that i was missing the front right tire (passenger side) tire completely but the rim was intact since part of the rubber of the tire remained.tire was michelin radial x tubeless m+s 215/55r17. I made a complaint to michelin which only were willing to pay 75% for a new tire. My final decision was to change all the tires and switch to goodyear brand since michelin could not warranty the quality of their products and will not assure that the other 3 tires were not defective

(this is the abbv. Version of original 4091 character complete description.) 06/30/2006, fort smith arkansas. Vehicle: 2006 honda ridgeline. Complaint re: oem tires: michelin tires (p245 65 r17 105s ltx m/s radial x)while negotiating a curve on garrison ave. Before 13th street, in the inner lane (4 lane road), traveling appx. 25-30 mph, was crowded into the curb by a car in left hand lane.there was not a hard impact, as the truck was roughly parallel to the curb.i felt the right side of the truck start to "climb up" on the curb.immediately flattened both tires on the right side.maintained control, & pulled off in parking lot.both tires had "u-shaped flaps" ripped in the sidewall.omitted exact description of the "rips" to reduce character count, but it's available on request.it was night, but i looked at the curb & road for any sharp objects that would explain the damage to the sidewalls & found nothing. Next day, i examined the curb & vicinity closely. I took photos of the tires, the curb, & vicinity.there was nothing that would have obviously caused the damage. I believe the tires blew out due to low speed contact with the curb.i believe the tire sidewalls are insufficient in design & construct for use on this truck, & that the tire sidewalls collapsed significantly when they came in contact with the curb, despite the fact that they did not sustain a direct impact. (all 4 tires fully inflated: truck was only 4 months old & the tires had < 5000 miles on them). I believe the collapse of the sidewall caused it to be "pinched" by the rim, & due to substandard sidewall construct, it was followed but a sudden & catastrophic rip (blow out) up the sidewall.i still have the two tires.these tires were manufactured for oem placement ona 4 wheel drive truck, but failed to withstand a minor brush with a curb on a city street. I believe these tires are inferior in design, defective in construct, & sub-standard for the application.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500 with michelin - radial x tires, size p265/70/r17. The contact stated during routine maintenance at a local repair facility she was advised that all of the tires including the spare side walls were severely cracked. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who confirmed the diagnosis and stated that the tires needed to replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but only offered a discount for the tire replacements. The tires were not replaced.the failure and current mileage was 45,000. Updated 07/21/11the consumer stated three separate tire stores informed her the tires were unsafe and subject to blow out.

All four original tires have continuously leaked air since the vehicle was purchased new.the dealer was notified (michelin tires, radial x,size 215/65r16, dot m30d68ax289).

I bought 4 michelin tires (p205/70r 15 x rad) for my minivan in june 2006.this month the steering wheel of my car started to shake violently at low speed.i brought my car to dealer.i was told that the two belts inside of the tires separated.i was recommended to replace these tires.these tires have a 80,000 mile warranty, but they only run less than 40,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet s-10 equipped with the michelin x radial tire. The contact stated that the tires cracked one year after purchase however, the tires were still threaded. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted. The failure and current mileages were 127,000.

Michelin ltx m/s p245 60 r18 radial tires purchased two years ago with my 2011 honda ridgeline truck. Excessive dry rot on top between tread and on sidewalls of the tires

I had a michelin low profile tire lose pressure and it failed at30mph. The entire sidewall separated in one piece from the rest of thetire. I had just exited i-10 and if the tire had failed at 60 mph it would have been serious and life threatening. I have the tire (7600 miles) and pictures. These tires are dangerous. It is impossible to look at one and detect a loss of air pressure. There is no way to tell from the cars instrumentation if a tire is losing pressure until it fails and comes apart.

I was driving a new 36 foot itasca with oe michelin xrv 235/80r22.5 lrg. Tire had less than 5000 miles on it when right rear inside exploded through the outside facing sidewall no harm resulted but this should not have happened.i check my inflation pressure every morning.*nlm

August 2002, i replaced all five tires on my 01 navagator with 17" michelin xross terrain tires due to a safety recall on the oem contenintals.since the replacement date, three of the tires have all suffered sidewall failures on the highway, in the summer and with normal loading.all three were on the rear and all were catastrophic failures.the first happened about last september 2003 with approximately 12,000 miles on the tires.the tire had a nail in it and the cause from the dealer was my fault, under inflated tire.the second was the first week of july 2004, same problem and exactly the same circumstances.local higway driving at speed and on a hot day with a nail in the tread.again, it was my fault due to under inflation.it happened a thired time yesterday at speed, cool highway temps, overcast skies and about 75 degrees, pressure in the tire was set the day before at 36 psi and confirmed that morning by air caps (36 psi units).no nails in the tire, just a catrostrophic failure.i am convinced the first two tires were defected as is this third one.these three tires are from the orginal bunch of five that were installed.i have the forth tire on the ground now as a spare and the remaining original is one of the front tires.not sure which.i am going to press for a meeting with the houston area tire representative this week and bring up my concerns with him direct.i have had to change two tires in my adult life (44 years old).one was 6 years ago when a valve stem failed, the first was in 1980 with a bad tire on the highway, loaded up and heading to college.since this truck was bought, i have had 4 tire failures, all on the rear and all at higway speed and during the summer.i am keeping the latest damaged tire just in case it needs to be studied.i am going to change out all five tires to another brand and try something new to try and solve this problem.

This is the second of a set of four tires bought at costco jan99. Last incidence occured 13 months ago with very similar damage. I was on street behind midday traffic when i felt the tire gave in - i did not run over or hit anything, nor did i run under pressure as michelin customer relation tried to tell me. I have meticulous records of my car and (though i do not wash it regularily) i continuously inspect it.the sidewall shredded as if a bear hit them and they separtated internally from the radials (meaning they pealed inside away from each other). I had/have p185/70r14 (not able to enter this on this form)*la
